Cubs/Red Sox (Double Header)
0:04All right, welcome in. We are live. It
0:06is Friday morning. We have hit the home
0:08stretch of the Major League Baseball
0:11regular season. One more weekend of
0:13games. Uh the last couple shows of the
0:16regular season will be today and
0:18tomorrow. But don't worry, the three of
0:19us will be with you uh for the entire
0:22playoffs. So, we're not going anywhere.
0:24Still plenty of baseball left. Uh, but
0:28we've got a full slate, a really full
0:30slate today. We'll talk about that in a
0:31minute. Uh, before we get into it, Tokyo
0:33Brandon, I'll start with you. How was
0:35your Thursday?
0:37>> I went 4 and one. So, pretty happy about
0:40that. Not happy. I just lost a game that
0:42ended about an hour ago. Uh, but yeah,
0:46um 24 and five run right now. So,
0:50feeling pretty good. Got one play out in
0:52Major League Baseball today.
0:55>> Very nice. Yeah, I had a great Thursday.
0:58Uh, three and 0 sweep. I hit my 5% play
1:01in the NFL with the Falcons. Brian was
1:03on it, too. That was as easy as it gets.
1:06I have yet to lose a NFL play in the
1:09regular season. I'm now 5-0 and I'm
1:11running it back with another 5enter on
1:13Sunday. So, go grab that. You can
1:16actually I'm going to also release my
1:17It's already up my first 4% college
1:19football play of the season. Pretty low
1:21volume there. I've only made three
1:23plays. I'm two and one. Um, there's a
1:25great football special that is on the
1:27specials tab, that is up till the end of
1:29September and then it's gone. We're not
1:30going to do that special the rest of the
1:32year. So, if you want my NFL and you
1:34want to get the college football free,
1:36check that out. Uh, but yeah, three and
1:380 day for me. I had the White Socks and
1:39gave it out on this show, um, I had the
1:42Falcons and then I added a winner uh
1:44with the Oklahoma City Comets to pretty
1:46much wrap up the AAA season. Even though
1:49right before we were getting on the
1:50show, I'm trying to get Brian out to the
1:52game on Saturday night that's in Vegas
1:54because it's going to be a really good
1:55one. The Triple A Championship game
1:57between Oklahoma City and Rochester on
1:59Saturday night in Vegas. Brian, I know
2:01you had the Falcons as well. Uh how was
2:04the rest of your Thursday?
2:05>> Yeah, it was a winning day. Uh gave out
2:07the Brewers here on the show and I did
2:11add
2:12I added that Chicago game under two days
2:15in a row. I added K Chicago under and
2:18lost them both by a small amount. Uh
2:20they
2:22played under N. It got to nine. I go I I
2:24got to play the under. And then of
2:25course they end up with 10 runs or
2:27something in the game. But overall
2:29cannot complain. Um did you happen to
2:31see if you're still number I'm assuming
2:33you're number one still overall in in
2:35football and I'm assuming I'm number
2:37two. Uh I do have a a play today in
2:40college football going and I will be
2:42putting out my weekend plays. So, make
2:44sure if you're a football fan, you grab
2:46that all access package for the weekend.
2:48The uh what do they call that again? The
2:50uh weekend warrior.
2:51>> Weekend warrior.
2:52>> Yeah.
2:54>> Yeah. The weekend warrior is a great
2:56special if you're into football and
2:57you've got a handicapper that's doing um
3:00NFL and college. Uh it gets you the
3:02entire weekend. So, all the plays on
3:04Saturday, all the plays on Sunday. Yeah,
3:06it's a good point, Brian. Another great
3:08way uh to secure the entire weekend of
3:11football picks. But we're here to talk
3:12some bases. So, uh, we're going to get
3:14into it. This is So, somehow we now have
3:1817 games on the slate today. Uh, if you
3:21have not been following along, the
3:23reason for that is potential weather.
3:25Uh, so we've got some potential weather
3:28about to hit the East Coast and that
3:30could create some situations for teams
3:34that need to finish the season. Now, if
3:36it's a team that doesn't have any real
3:38implications of of, you know, finishing
3:41the season or seating, they'll probably
3:43just rain out or cancel the games. But
3:45in the case of the Cubs and the Red Sox,
3:48uh the Cubs specifically need to finish
3:52162 because it's going to decide who's
3:54home. Um you know, what what the seating
3:56is going to be in the NL playoffs. So,
3:59what they've decided to do is play a
4:02double header today and hope that I
4:04guess they're going to hope that they
4:06can get the series in and finish it
4:08tomorrow because if they don't, they may
4:10have to look for a neutral sight to play
4:12the game. So, kind of a crazy scenario
4:14there. All we're concerned with today is
4:17the games that are going today, but it's
4:19given us a double header at Fenway Park.
4:21It's given us a standalone nationally
4:24televised game this afternoon. Um, so
4:26Brian, I'm gonna come to you first and
4:28I'll set the table real quick. The Red
4:30Sox are locked in to their seed. They
4:33cannot improve. They cannot be hot by
4:36the White Sox. They swept the White
4:37Socks in the season series. So, the
4:39White the Red Sox are they're they're
4:42locked in. They don't have anything to
4:44play for um other than just trying to
4:47finish the season strong. The Cubs have
4:49a lot to play for because that one that
4:52getting the top wild card seat is very,
4:54very important. It means you get to host
4:56a three-game series with your season on
4:59the line. If you don't get that top
5:01seed, you head on the road for three
5:03games. So, I would argue the Cubs have
5:05quite a bit to still play for here
5:07today. And um yeah, it's going to be a
5:09double header. So, let's go. Any
5:12thoughts on the double header, game one,
5:13game two, are you trying to attack this
5:15one uh one way or the other?
5:17>> Yeah, we always talk about how bright
5:20and how smart our listeners are and
5:22viewers of the show. Somebody went into
5:24the uh comments the other day on the
5:26YouTube and they mentioned this series
5:28and I it it I don't think that far ahead
5:30obviously we got a lot going on football
5:32and hockey coming up and they he he said
5:36I'm assuming it was a he I can't
5:37remember I apologize for not knowing
5:39exactly what what his handle was but he
5:41said what's going to happen with this
5:43storm coming in here are they going to
5:46make a team play on Monday and I said
5:49well I can't believe that they would
5:50make make a team play on Monday and uh I
5:55I really wasn't aware of it and then
5:57they decided to change this to a double
5:59header but that still means they need to
6:01get one game in the next two days and
6:04you are right they may have to go to
6:06like a dome stadium or or another
6:08another park. So that that's an
6:10interesting way to end it and it's
6:12probably if that happens it's a negative
6:15for both both the teams because they're
6:18h they have to make that travel that
6:20travel. So, um, yeah, a lot going on
6:23here. I will point out also that we had
6:26some teams clinched last night, uh,
6:28clinched playoff spots. We still have,
6:31uh, the American League Central still up
6:33for grabs and that's also very
6:34important. Uh, because if you get, um,
6:37you get the buy in the first round. So,
6:40yeah, meaningful baseball continues even
6:42though we've had a couple of teams
6:43celebrating yesterday. Uh the first game
6:45of the double header looks like it's
6:47going to be Holmes against Gamboa uh
6:50lefty for Boston. I'm assuming that's
6:52going to be um more of a bullpen game.
6:55We're looking at uh Chicago at about a
6:58120 with a total of six and a half to
7:00the under. Game two will be Peterson the
7:03lefty against Brian Beao. And that's 115
7:08and also a six and a half. And the
7:11reason why six and a halfs and there's
7:13actually a couple of sixes over 20 in
7:15that game is if you've watched the games
7:18in this Cleveland series, the last two
7:20games were one to nothing finals. Um the
7:24announcers talked about fly balls. They
7:26Cleveland won on a on a home run
7:28yesterday. That was the only run scored
7:29in the game. And uh they had said that
7:32with the wind blowing in like this, they
7:35were lucky to get the one home run
7:36because it's just knocking down all all
7:38the balls. So, uh, that's why you're
7:40seeing such low totals here. Um, as you
7:44mentioned, Boston is pretty much stuck
7:46where they're at. They did bring back,
7:48um, the center fielder who looked like
7:51he pulled a hamstring the day before,
7:53uh, Raphael. And, uh, I I was surprised
7:57that they brought him back that so soon.
7:58So, they've only got a certain amount of
8:00players in the locker room. It's not
8:02like it used to be years ago when you
8:05could bring up as many minor leaguers as
8:06you wanted. These guys are still going
8:09to have to play and they may not play a
8:11full game. They may get a day off once
8:13in a while, but you're still getting
8:15quality major leaguers playing in these
8:17games late. So even though we're seeing
8:19a lot of lowcoring um totals out there,
8:22the wind isn't blowing in quite as much
8:24as it had been the last couple of days.
8:26I know at Yankee Stadium is blowing in
8:28pretty heavily today, but um keep that
8:31in mind. There was a lot of lowscoring
8:33games yesterday and I would expect more.
8:35But when when you got games at six six
8:38and a half runs at in in Boston, uh
8:42you've got to have some ace pitchers on
8:44the mountain. I'm not even sure they
8:46have that in in these games today. So,
8:49uh even though the line the the numbers
8:51are coming in or the uh winds coming in
8:53a little bit, I'm trying to find a way
8:55to play an over in one of these. Maybe
8:57it'll be an in, you know, ingame type of
8:59thing, but that's the way I'm going to
9:01look at it.
9:02So, Tokyo Brandon, we we they will get
9:05these game the Friday games in. There's
9:07no rain in the forecast until later
9:09tonight. The the issue with rain will be
9:12tomorrow. Uh but the wind is going to be
9:14pretty aggressive. It looks like
9:15starting around noon. There's wind gusts
9:17up to 25 miles an hour. Now, where where
9:20it's gusting, who knows? Uh but it it is
9:23definitely going to be windy during this
9:25double header. It is probably going to
9:27be in the 50s. So, I mean, outside of
9:30the wind, it's not like it this isn't
9:31like April where it's like 35 degrees
9:34you're trying to play baseball. Um, but
9:36but it's certainly like food for thought
9:38right there. So, Red Sox Cubbies to you.
9:40Are you able to find a play in this uh
9:42in this double header?
9:45>> Yeah. So, Boston, like you guys said,
9:49they have nothing to play for. By the
9:50way, I'm doing my Asian baseball show
9:52tonight on my channel, so go catch that.
9:55My Asian baseball is redot. I think I'm
9:58what what what time am I doing that?
10:009:00 p.m. Eastern. Uh or I'm sorry.
10:03Yeah, 9:00 p.m. Eastern. So, anyways, um
10:07Boston is locked in the five seed. Uh
10:09they technically could slip to six, but
10:12doesn't really matter. The Cubs are one
10:15game behind San Diego uh for the number
10:18four home field. So, they're going to
10:20play hard. And I mean, everyone plays
10:23hard when they're out there, but uh you
10:26know, there is a let down when you
10:28celebrate uh you know, ring ceremonies,
10:31something about these things. They just
10:33they just are what they are. Um I like
10:36Holmes better than Gamboa. I like the
10:38Cubs lineup better than the Red Sox. Uh
10:41and both bullpens are pretty equal as
10:44far as I can see. I don't think Boston's
10:46going to be straining their arms too
10:48much. Uh just basically getting guys
10:51keeping guys fresh, keeping their swings
10:55warm for the playoffs. Uh I think the
10:58Cubs are going to win both of these
11:00games. Uh depending on the lines you get
11:03or group them together, but uh I can't
11:06see I I can't see the Cubs losing these
11:09games that they really need against a
11:11team that just celebrated yes or that's
11:14locked into their uh playoff spot. So
11:18yeah, give me the Cubs in both games. I
11:20I especially like him in the second one
11:22because I don't like Brian Baleo, but uh
11:24yeah, give me the Cubs in both games.
11:28>> Talking Brandon, I'm I'm 100% with you.
11:30I will look for a way to play the Cubs
11:33in this double header. Whether it's game
11:35one or game two or both, I'm not sure.
11:37But like who who deals with wind all the
11:40time? Wind is nothing new to the Cubs.
11:42The Cubs play windaffected games. half
11:46of the season is affected by wind for
11:48the Cubs. So, the fact that there's 25
11:50miles hour mph winds regardless of where
11:53it's blowing. The Cubs are better
11:55equipped to play in that than the Red
11:57Sox are. And you know, the Cubs the last
11:59three days um not great. They did not
12:03play well in that series against the
12:05Marlins at all. Uh they were fortunate
12:07to to even get one. They they end up
12:09winning the finale which does put them
12:12in the playoffs. So, that did clinch
12:13their playoff spot. But, you know, this
12:15is a team that I feel like was trending
12:18toward easily locking down the top spot
12:21at one point in the wild card race and
12:24now they are they need help uh to get
12:27that top spot. So, yeah, I I'm with you.
12:29I think the Cubs have incentive to play
12:31well here for a couple of reasons. Not
12:33only do they need to win to get the top
12:35spot, but they played poorly against the
12:37Marlins, and I just think they have some
12:39incentive to come out, take these games
12:41seriously, and um try to win baseball
12:43games. So, yeah, I'm with you on the
12:44Cubs, Brian. Go ahead.
12:46>> Yeah, a couple things. First off, I
12:47checked the weather the wind. It's it's
12:49actually blowing directly in. It's not
12:52the the wind gusts are going to be the
12:53problem. It's not that it's blowing in
12:54very extremely hard. It's just the wind
12:56gusts. And uh if you bet football, you
12:59know how wind gusts and and the wind
13:02affects that. Uh as for Boston, the
13:05Tokyo Brandon was saying that uh they
13:08could could drop. I don't know. the the
13:10only way if Boston gets swept in the
13:12series and Cleveland and Chicago both
13:15sweep their series the Chicago will have
13:19the same record as Boston but I off the
13:22top of my head I don't know who wins the
13:24tiebreaker there so
13:25>> I do the the Red Sox can't lose a
13:27tiebreaker to the White Socks they've
13:28they are locked in
13:31>> okay okay
13:35>> yeah and you know what I mean I'm just
13:37going to do this now I'll I'll make Cubs
13:39game one my leg of the parlay. Um that
13:43and only reason I'm going to make game
13:44one my leg of the parlay is I can't bet
13:47a game two until I see what happens in
13:49game one. But in game one we're going to
13:51get Holmes. Uh Holmes is as extreme of a
13:54ground ball pitcher as you will find in
13:56Major League Baseball. He is in the top
13:581% ground ball rate. He he gets more
14:02ground balls than anyone in in the game.
14:05uh he is if he's not number one, he's
14:07like two um in terms of ground ball rate
Rangers/Twins
14:10that you you gotta like that when you're
14:12dealing with wind. Now, you could say
14:13the wind blowing in whatever, but you
14:16know what? Yeah. Yeah. I when when it's
14:18gusting wind, you don't really want that
14:20ball in the air regardless because even
14:22if it's I mean th those are the types of
14:24games where popups could go anywhere.
14:26So, I like a guy that keeps a ball on
14:29the ground when you're dealing with wind
14:30gusts of 20 plus miles an hour. So,
14:32yeah, give me the Cubs in game one of
14:34the double header. Uh, I think Holmes is
14:36the better pitching option and he's an
14:38extreme ground ball pitcher. Brian, what
14:40am I looking at for a money line on Cubs
14:43game one?
14:44>> Yeah, you're looking at about minus 120.
14:46I was looking at it a little bit
14:47differently. I I would prefer a ground
14:50ball pitcher in an area where the wind's
14:53blowing out. But um yeah, with the
14:55pop-ups that that was a great point you
14:57made uh because yeah, you see that all
14:59the time a lot of a lot of balls fall
15:02because on on pop-ups that should be
15:04easy outs because it's just so hard to
15:06judge those. So that was a great point
15:08in that regard. But minus 120 is what
15:10I'm saying.
15:11>> Yep. I'll I'll take that for my parlay
15:13league. Um we did hit the parlay
15:14yesterday. uh first one in a very very
15:18long time. Uh so shout out to us.
15:20>> Yeah, it was that for in the two years
15:22we've been doing the parlays with the
15:24show. That was the that was the longest
15:25drought we've had. So
15:27>> we're still chasing like 16 units. But
15:30you know what? We got a whole month of
15:31playoffs. Don't don't let us get hot.
15:33That's what I said in the chat. Don't
15:35let the parlay get hot. Uh you know that
15:37that's that's directed toward the
15:39haters. Tokyo Brandon uh who who were
15:41bashing the parlay. said all it t like
15:44we hit three of them, you know, a couple
15:46more and all of a sudden we're up again
15:48now. Now, you know, now where we at,
15:50right? So, uh
15:51>> we're we're so sorry for coming out here
15:53and doing the show for free, you guys.
15:55We we apologize.
15:58>> I understand them. There's a lot of
15:59people that can't afford to buy picks
16:01and you know, we're winning that. Great.
16:02But yeah, we try to win as many plays as
16:05we can. It's just it's gambling and that
16:07and it happens a lot of times. I
16:10mentioned yesterday the luck factor.
16:12Yeah. A lot of times you get the best
16:14better team, you should have won. You
16:15don't win. It's just the way it that's
16:17that's gambling. You if you if you you
16:20know I I I feel for everybody because we
16:23haven't been winning the parlays, but if
16:25you're freaking out over that, you
16:27probably shouldn't be gambling. And
16:29because it's it's hard it's hard to win
16:31this sports, you know, that's why, you
16:34know, I've been around 45 years. We've
16:36got a few other guys that have been
16:37around that long. There's a lot of guys
16:39who quit their jobs to think they can
16:41make money and especially now with um
16:44with the way it's taken over in the
16:46United States now. All these college
16:48kids are going to college. Oh, I'm I'm
16:50I'll drop out of college and I'm going
16:51to bet for a living. No, it's not easy.
16:53This is not easy to do. And we do this
16:56full time. So,
16:58>> yeah, it's it's not only is it not easy
17:00to do, but like also it is it is it
17:04consumes your life. It's like the only
17:06like forget having like it listen here
17:09here's a here's again I'll I'll say this
17:11again if if you see someone and they and
17:14they've got a like a lot going on
17:17outside of just this probably not the
17:19guy you should buy picks from. Um you
17:22see the three of us we're like we're
17:23here every day and then we go watch
17:25games and we're back here every day and
17:27then we go watch games. It's like you
17:29know
17:29>> we're kind of dorks actually.
17:31>> Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. Yeah. So
17:36compensated for this leave the house,
17:37you know,
17:38>> I I pimp on the side, but besides that,
17:41>> listen, we do get compensated though. We
17:43get compensated by you guys coming to
17:45Wager Talk and and buying the picks. We
17:46very much appreciate it. Uh the money
17:48that gets donated to the show, it goes
17:50to a charity of our home office's
17:52choosing and we've done a tremendous job
17:54at running it up on this show this year.
17:56So, thank you guys so much for that.
17:58Rustin Romero just throwing a a9.99
18:01donation to us. um didn't ask for a
18:04game. So, just shout out to you. We
18:05appreciate the donation. And I'm gonna
18:08go on to Alex Ran who also again appre
18:11he's in here every day. So, shout out to
18:14>> Alex Ran. Um he says, "Morning fellas.
18:16Can we talk Rangers and Twins? Rangers
18:19want to finish 500 so bad." Yeah. I um
18:22listen about a month and a half ago, I
18:24said, "This is a 500 baseball team." I
18:26was like, "They're they're not going
18:27anywhere. They will be lucky to to break
18:30500." And now Brian Leonard, it looks
18:32like they might not even break 500. And
18:35they they may have played their way out
18:36of the playoffs the last three days.
18:38Obviously, there's still some games to
18:41decide that, but man, the Rangers not
18:44looking great down the stretch. That
18:46being said, they get a a reasonable
18:48opponent here to finish off the uh the
18:50season. Do you think the Rangers, who
18:53did win yesterday, keep it going and win
18:56tonight? Rangers twins to you.
18:58>> Yeah, took ground against Ryan. Uh this
19:00would have been early of the season
19:02would be a premier matchup. Uh Texas was
19:06expected to do pretty well and uh
19:08Minnesota
19:10uh hats off to you Trig. They had a
19:11better season than what I thought. Um
19:14Brian's had to deal with some injuries.
19:15Dro always has to deal with some
19:18injuries, but he's been pretty healthy
19:20the last couple years. Uh we're looking
19:22at basically a 115 favorite for Texas
19:24here with a total between seven and
19:26seven and a half. Um, Deg Gro has been
19:29very good. Texas had a lot of success on
19:31the road when Deg Gro pitches. Um, I
19:34believe Ryan, if I off the top of my
19:37head, I think he's lost his like
19:38Minnesota's lost his last six starts,
19:40something like that. Uh, he's still a
19:42very good pitcher, extremely good
19:43pitcher, but right now, um, Texas would
19:46be the side I like in this game. Deg
19:48Grom is been really good on the road.
19:52He's he's uh he got the surprise start
19:55what, last week, two weeks ago or
19:57whatever. I didn't expect him to come in
19:58and he's he's been great again. So, if
20:00I'm playing this one, I'm laying um
20:03don't know if it'll make my card, but
20:04slight lean to Texas here. They're about
20:06a one, you know, 115 110 to 15 favorite.
20:10Um if I'm getting involved, I'm I'm
20:12probably playing Texas a little bit
20:14here. Although, they have to be a little
20:16bit disappointed that, you know, they've
20:18gotten to this point where at one they
20:20look like they were a really good shot
20:21to win the division. Um but they're
20:24still continue to go out and play. So
20:26yeah, it's slightly lane to Texas here.
20:29>> Yeah, Tokyo Brandon, they still have
20:30everything to play for. They are tied
20:32coming into play today. Um I don't think
20:34it'll happen cuz I do think one of these
20:37two team I think it's going to take two
20:38of three um to to win this division. Um
20:42which would mean at least you finish
20:45with a 500 record. I don't think we've
20:47ever had a team make the Major League
20:48Baseball playoffs with a sub 500 record.
20:51I think you know certainly not a
20:53division winner. I don't believe we've
20:54had a division winner, at least not one
20:56that I can remember, that finished under
20:58500. Um, and I I don't think it's going
21:01to be the case this year because you
21:02have two teams. If one of one of them is
21:05probably going to take two out of three
21:07and at least finish 81 and 81. The
21:09question is, who will it be, the Astros
21:12or the Rangers? They both come into play
21:14today, 79 and 80. So, everything to play
21:16here for the Rangers. Tokyo Brandon,
21:18what are you seeing in Rangers twins? Do
21:20you think the Rangers get it done? So
21:23Wager Talks headquarters just extended
21:26the double play deal till October 4th.
21:29So you can get two of us three and we're
21:31all winning right now. We're all on fire
21:33right now. Two of us three for three
21:36days all access baseball. Grab a double
21:38play at wageralk.com.
21:41Currently I'm on a 25 and four run. So
21:43I'm pretty happy with my baseball right
21:46now. Um both of these guys are on fire
21:49too. So, uh, two of us three for three
21:51days baseball all access. Wagazert
21:53talk.com find the double play. Um, I
21:56called this game yesterday. I actually
21:58picked or it wasn't this exact matchup,
22:00but yeah, I backed Kumar Rocker
22:02yesterday and won. But, you know, it's
22:04really hard to sweep a team. So, now
22:07currently what we have the Rangers um,
22:10their season's on the line. They're tied
22:12with Houston. Uh, but Houston has a
22:14tiebreaker. So, Texas basically has to
22:16win outright. And so they're highly
22:19motivated. Deg Grom has excellent
22:21numbers against these batters in his
22:23career. 47 at bats against minuscule
22:26OPS. But the problem is Joe Ryan also
22:28has really good numbers against these
22:29batters. But uh the Twins are going to
22:32be making business decisions here
22:34because uh they're playing for next
22:36year. They're completely out of it. Um
22:38they're playing for pride and you know
22:41whatever else is there. But um you know
22:44like we've said in previous shows, these
22:46guys are warriors. they're they're
22:47professionals and uh you know when
22:52they're swinging at a baseball they're
22:54not thinking about whether they're
22:55making the playoffs or not. They're
22:56trying to hit the ball. Uh the the
22:59difference is how the teams are managed.
23:01And uh if if Joe Ryan gets into any kind
23:04of trouble, they're they're going to
23:05take him out and they'll put some schle
23:08in there. You know, that's how they're
23:11going to manage this. It's a spring
23:12training game for the Minnesota Twins
23:14and uh it's uh it's everything on the
23:17line for the Rangers. So, I like the
23:19Rangers here. I like Deg Grom. Uh Deg
23:22Grom's an awesome pitcher. He he had a
23:24rough spot this season which surprised
23:26me. He had a really rough spot. He
23:28actually had one game where it was
23:29difficult to watch. I think he gave up
23:31eight runs and he came out in the second
23:33inning or something. Tough game, but
23:35that was his only real bad game. He's a
23:38Warrior. He's one of those nononsense
23:40guys. He's kind of like Max Scherzer. Uh
23:43I like the Rangers here. Uh should be
23:45tight in the first five, but I think the
23:47Rangers have uh the better bullpen for
23:50sure, especially in current form. And I
23:53think in the end, the Rangers take it.
23:58>> Yeah. Listen, Deg Grom is going to he's
24:00going to empty the clip here. He's been
24:01talking about
24:02>> Oh, yeah.
24:03>> being ready to pitch in September for
24:06multiple seasons now. Like since he got
24:08to Texas. his whole thing last year was
24:10I I just need to take care of myself
24:12during the regular season so I I'm at my
24:15best come September and in the playoffs
24:16and then the Rangers just kind of fell
24:18apart last year. They never got there.
24:20The same thing kind of happened this
24:22year except the they get a reprieve from
24:24the fact that everyone else has been so
24:25bad. Um so to answer the question in the
24:29chat, no, in a 162 game season, there
24:32has never been a team that's made the
24:34playoffs with a losing record. The only
Diamondbacks/Padres
24:36time it's ever happened was in a strike
24:38shortened season in 1981 when the Royals
24:41did it and then in the 2020 COVID year
24:44because there was 60 games and they let
24:45everyone in the playoffs. So, there was
24:47a couple teams with a losing record that
24:49year. The person in the chat that
24:51remembered the Padres's uh remembered
24:53the 2005 Padres's who got there winning
24:56the NL West with an 82 and 80 record.
24:59So, we may have a we're likely to have
25:02our first team win a division and get to
25:03the playoffs that that finishes 500
25:06here. Um, but yeah, Brian, I'll come to
25:08you. I one thing I know about this game
25:12is you're probably going to get Deg
25:13Grom's all out best effort here.
25:16>> Will it be good enough to win Rangers
25:18Twins to you?
25:19>> Yeah, you mentioned 81. I believe that
25:21was the year of the Montreal Expose. The
25:24Montreal Expose, one of my favorite
25:25teams of all time. uh were blowing
25:28everybody away and then the strike cost
25:30them the championship. Uh still breaks
25:32my heart for the people of Montreal who
25:34have lost their team. Uh I will point
25:36out from an injury standpoint, Minnesota
25:39right now is out for the season. Uh Co
25:41Pepper who's been phenomenal for them
25:43since being brought up. Byron Buckston
25:45their best player and Trevor Lash one of
25:47the most consistent players. When you
25:49take a look at Texas, uh you always got
25:51to worry about the Texas um players that
25:54are playing because they're so
25:55injuryprone. right now. How often do we
25:58get uh Wyatt Langford, Cory Siger, Josh
26:01Young, and Jake Burgerer all in the
26:04lineup at the same time? Doesn't happen
26:06very often. So, yeah, if if you're going
26:08to play this game, I think Texas is
26:10probably the way to go.
26:13>> Yeah. And you could listen, Joe Ryan,
26:15you could always run into Joe Ryan on
26:17when he's on and then you got to I mean,
26:20he might throw seven scoreless in your
26:22face, but it's like he Tokyo Brandon
26:24made a good point. He hasn't thrown more
26:26than five innings in a while and this
26:29might be just get out there,
26:31>> cruise through five or so and then call
26:33it a day. Like there's
26:35>> he's been injury prone as well this
26:37year. So there's kind of no reason to
26:39push him. But I I do it's going to be
26:41one of those things where if he's
26:42feeling good and he's pitching well,
26:44he's going to be like, "Yeah, I'm going
26:45to stay in the game." And who are the
26:46Twins? I mean, this is this will be the
26:48last game he pitches this year. So who
26:50are who are the twins to tell him, "No,
26:52you're coming out." I think it's uh
26:54makes for an interesting game, but yeah,
26:56Rangers have to have an edge here for
26:58sure.
27:00>> All right, let's go to the chat. Let's
27:01see what else we've got. Um, let's see.
27:08>> Yeah, we we'll we'll we'll go to the
27:09Padres's game. By the way, a couple
27:11people ask Expos have the best logo in
27:13the history of sports. The Expos, the
27:16the Hartford Whalers, and the Quebec
27:18Nordics. I love those logos.
27:19>> I'm with you. I I love all those. Yeah.
27:21Yeah.
27:23Yeah, let's
27:24>> all teams that don't exist anymore.
27:26>> Throw the Buffalo Braves in there.
27:28growing up in the Albany, New York area,
27:30like the the plus EV play to go to Major
27:34League Baseball games was going to
27:35Montreal because it was especially when
27:37I was a kid, we were I was getting
27:39toward the end of the, you know, the
27:41stadium was starting to get old and it
27:43was starting to get empty and well, I
27:45remember going up in the late 90s and
27:48getting to pick my seat to watch the
27:50Braves play with like Maddox and Glavin
27:52and Smoltz because, you know, you could
27:55go to Montreal and Canadian Holler was,
27:58you know, you got it was great. People
28:00always, all my friends, Yankee fans, Red
28:02Sox fans, they always wanted to go to
28:04Yankee Stadium, but it was like, hey,
28:06you can go up to Montreal and see a game
28:08for cheap and see all those great Braves
28:10teams. Yeah, that was the sharp play
28:12right there late 90s. And it was the
28:15same same amount of time from where I
28:18live to get to Montreal as it was to the
28:19city. So that was the uh
28:21>> Yeah, that that's what we used to do. I
28:23miss I miss those expos. It was sad when
28:25they left. Um, okay. Let's go to the
28:28Padres's game. Playoff implications here
28:30as well. Uh, we already talked about it
28:32when we we on the open. Uh, the Cubs
28:35still having something to play for. It
28:37means the Padres's, it's now theirs to
28:39lose. Uh, so Petco Park for three games
28:42next week in a playoff series is now the
28:45Padres's to lose. Uh, if they win out
28:47this weekend, they secure that home
28:49series in the playoffs. If they lose,
28:52someone's probably going to Wrigley
28:53Field and they're probably on the road.
28:55But Tokyo Brandon not going to come easy
28:57for them because the team they're up
28:59against here has not been eliminated
29:00yet. You were all over the Diamondbacks
29:02yesterday. That was a great call. They
29:04came out right off the bat and took care
29:06of business as you said they would. So
29:09now to you, can the Diamondbacks get it
29:11done in San Diego tonight? This is
29:14probably the most impactful game on the
29:16slate today.
29:18>> Yeah, both teams motivated here. Um,
29:20Diamondbacks playing for postseason
29:22survival. They're two games behind the
29:25Phillies with three remaining. Their
29:27elimination number is two. They need a
29:30huge weekend here. And the Padres's,
29:32they're one game ahead of the Cubs for
29:33the number four seed in home field
29:36advantage. And Chicago has a tiebreaker.
29:38So the Padres's really need to win here.
29:40So both teams motivated. So we're going
29:42to get a good game, I think, from both
29:44teams here. Thought having a great
29:47season. Uh but he's fallen a little bit
29:50lately. Uh I got him ranked 14 out of 30
29:53uh on the curve of 30 and I got Mai's
29:56right around the same a little bit below
29:58that. Both bullpens great. Uh the big
30:00difference here though is Padres's are
30:02hitting number one in MLB right now in
30:04current form and the Diamondbacks are
30:07hitting 11. So not bad for either side.
30:10Uh pitchers mediocre, bullpen's
30:12mediocre, great hitting. I like an over
30:15in this one. I think both teams are
30:16going to come out and uh club the ball
30:19pretty good. Uh so I would be looking to
30:22an over here. Just two lineups that are
30:24just hitting the ball really well right
30:26now and pitchers whose names are kind of
30:29better than their stats right now.
30:32>> Seven.
30:33>> Brian,
30:34>> seven.
30:35>> Give me the over.
30:37>> Seven and a half. Uh
30:40>> yeah, it's uh we're looking at Mai is
30:43about a 135 favorite. Total of seven and
30:45a half here against FO. How
30:49demoralizing would it be if Arizona
30:51sweeps this series and the Phillies get
30:53swept and the Phillies don't make the
30:54playoffs. Um it's been one of those kind
30:57of seasons in Philadelphia. One minute
30:59you think this is the greatest team in
31:01sliced bread or whatever they whatever
31:03that saying is. Uh and another is they
31:06might not even make the playoffs. Um, we
31:08did have uh San Diego clinch the playoff
31:10spot yesterday. Uh, we saw Cleveland,
31:13Chicago White Sox, and San Diego all
31:15celebrating. Uh, but I'm not really big
31:18on celebrating making the playoffs when
31:22your season's not done yet. Um, you're
31:25the the job isn't done yet. Uh, you
31:27don't see the Dodgers halfway through
31:28the season celebrating it because they
31:31uh they had such a big lead in the
31:33division. Uh, that kind of bothers me on
31:35the game following that. I I if I was a
31:37coach, I think I would limit that. But
31:40hey, it's they're kids. You know, even
31:42though some of these guys are 40 years
31:43old, hey, they're still kids. So anyway,
31:45that's just my opinion. Um but yeah, San
31:48Diego right now playing very good ball.
31:50Arizona's still playing with a lot of
31:52heart. And uh yeah, seven and a half is
31:55is kind of low if if you take a look at
Cardinals/Brewers
31:58it with these two with these two
32:00offenses that uh is have come alive as a
32:03bit a bit as of late. So yeah, I'm I'm
32:06with uh TB a little bit. Mai has pitched
32:08very well when he's not playing uh
32:12people that know him very well. So uh
32:14yeah, we'll see. We'll see what what
32:15happens here, but uh I got I got nothing
32:19against the over. Although it is seven
32:21and a half.
32:23>> And you can even buy the half run and
32:24make it seven. I mean,
32:26>> four to three games.
32:27>> Usually not worth it when you're when
32:29you're buying buying runs like that. But
32:33seven seven's a key number, too, though.
32:34It's an odd number and we talked about
32:35that in the past. The odd numbers mean
32:37more than the even numbers do. So yeah,
32:42>> you know, I I think my gut says the
32:45Padres's take care of business here. I
32:47don't know if we'll have a play in this
32:48game, but like they're at home. They
32:51they they've they've played the best of
32:54any of those wild card teams down the
32:56stretch, right? You Brian just talked
32:57about it. the Phillies inexplicably are
33:01like the fact that we're talking about
33:02the Phillies maybe not making the
33:04playoffs is wild considering where they
33:08were a month ago. Um it's crazy to think
33:11that there's even a scenario where they
33:13might not make the playoffs. The Cubs,
33:16you know, they had that great run. Um
33:18I'll go back to the series against the
33:20Brewers, that first one that kind of
33:21took them out of the out of the
33:23division. And I kind of feel like the
33:24Cubs have been on cruise control.
33:26they've just been like kind of, you
33:28know, playing that playing their way out
33:30to the end. Of course, unexpected to get
33:32dealt the blow of Alec Alec Bregman, you
33:35know, having a a facial fracture injury.
33:37Certainly not something they they could
33:39have anticipated. So, you know, the Cubs
33:41are kind of just, you know, backing, you
33:44know, they may back in um you know, and
33:46not get the one seed, but the Padres's,
33:49they have played the best baseball for
33:51the last month. Uh, if you remember at
33:54the All-Star break, we talked about this
33:56team setting up for potentially a big
33:59second half. Seeing all those guys like
34:01Fernando Tatis, Manny Machado, um, uh,
34:05Jackson Merrill, like guys that are all
34:08star with like 700 or lower OPS's and it
34:12was just like th this can't possibly
34:14continue. And then you call up a guy
34:16like Ethan Solace who's been great and
34:18that's been a little bit unexpected. So,
34:20I think all of this kind of happening at
34:22once where they found, you know, a
34:25couple of of younger guys, Jace Bowen
34:27has made good contributions over the
34:29last couple months to provide a spark
34:31and then you just get guys like Tatis
34:33and Machado starting to just like trend
34:36toward what they're supposed to be. It's
34:39kind of not surprising in my opinion
34:40that the Padres's have played as well as
34:42they have. And you know, Brian, this is
34:46ballpark I've never been to, but I know
34:47you've been out to to San Diego before.
34:49Like, for this is huge for them. For the
34:52Padres's to lock down three home games
34:54at Petco as opposed to having to road is
34:58massive.
34:59>> I I you know, it's nice that the
35:01Diamondbacks are still in it, but they
35:02really haven't played great ball for a
35:04while now. Yes, I guess congrats for
35:06slapping around the Rockies for three
35:07days and like hanging around in this
35:09race, but in my opinion, Arizona hasn't
35:12been good. hasn't been really good for
35:14like a month. Brandon F is is just ever
35:17so slightly starting to to tail off a
35:20little bit. I think people I think
35:22people have figured out that he's going
35:25to throw three different variations of a
35:26fast ball and they can hunt it a little
35:28bit. The Rangers blew him up big time
35:30the other day and he pitched well
35:33against the Yankees but didn't get out
35:34of the fifth inning. I think the
35:35Padres's, they just saw him on August
35:373rd, didn't hit the ball particularly
35:39well, but didn't strike out. They were
35:41putting the ball in play. They just
35:43didn't get many hits out of it. I like
35:45the Padres's to get them the second time
35:47around. And I think the Padres's put
35:50Arizona out of their misery this
35:51weekend. So, I even if the Phillies play
35:53poorly, I think they're going to back in
35:54because I think the Padres's have a good
35:56series here.
35:59All right, let's go back to the chat. We
36:00got our guy Freeird in here. He says,
36:03"Happy Friday." He says, "Brewers today
36:05with a question mark. Gasser good form
36:08last five games." So, Brian, uh, the
36:11Brewers, you got it done for us
36:13yesterday. They flipped around their
36:14pitching a little bit, but it didn't
36:16matter. They went out and, uh, pieced it
36:18together in a very impressive and very
36:20convincing win. So, now the Brewers are
36:23going to Excuse me here. I got to go
36:25back to my I got to go back to my sheet.
36:29Oh, they're playing at home against the
36:31Cardinals. That's right. Uh, the
36:32Cardinals have been one of the worst
36:34teams in the second half. And it looks
36:36like it's going to be Mike McGrevy for
36:37the visitors. Robert Gasser for the home
36:39team. So, Cardinals, Brewers to you. How
36:41are you seeing this one?
36:43>> Yeah, Gastra the lefty, McGrevy the
36:45righty. Uh, we're looking at Milwaukee
36:47at home about a 185 favorite here. Total
36:50eight to the under a little bit. Um,
36:53this is the kind of game that you
36:55handicap totally differently now than
36:57what you did, you know, just just a few
36:59years ago when you when you could call
37:01up all your minor leaguers. Uh,
37:03Milwaukee did what they had to do. They
37:05won. Uh, the Dodgers lost. Milwaukeee's
37:08got the 100 victories and they've got uh
37:12home all the way through. I believe
37:14Tampa Bay is still trying to reach that
37:17also. But there the main thing is
37:20they've got the home field over the
37:21Dodgers in the playoffs. Um normally
37:24this is a game where I would be looking
37:26to fade Milwaukee, but as I said
37:29recently, um they only brought up two
37:32extra guys from the miners now as
37:33opposed to before you can bring up as
37:35many guys as you wanted. So, they're
37:37still, no matter what the lineup is,
37:39they're still putting out guys that have
37:41been major league players, and uh, you
37:43know, Milwaukeee's got all these great
37:45minor leaguers, and we've seen a lot of
37:47them this year. Um, they're they're uh
37:50they're a team that's got a great
37:52future, great management, great coach,
37:55but, um, normally it's a go against
37:58because, you know, they they say, "Okay,
38:00well, now we got everything done." Well,
38:01they're still going to have to go out
38:02and play these last three games. and uh
38:05they're the guys they're going to throw
38:06out there are probably better than what
38:08St. Louis has. Uh Gasser is not a guy
38:11that is going to blow you away. Uh but
38:14as you mentioned, St. Louis is really
38:16struggled uh down the stretch and we
38:19knew it was going to be eventually be
38:20that way. Hats off to them for being in
38:23the um in the discussion being very
38:26competitive all season long. But now the
38:29depth on that team is starting to come
38:31around and you have a few injuries then
38:34you know then they're what they expected
38:35to be. So um prefer Milwaukee in this
38:39game. Think they're going to win very
38:41similar to the game that TB had
38:43yesterday with Arizona. Uh I have a hard
38:45time laying big numbers but uh from a
38:49talent standpoint Milwaukee's should win
38:52this game.
38:54>> TB Brewers Cardinals. How you seeing
38:56this one?
38:58>> Yeah. Uh I do have one MLB play out
39:01today and I'll probably be adding maybe
39:03two more because I'm really liking what
39:06I'm seeing and there's a lot to select.
39:08Um neither one of these teams have
39:10anything to play for. Uh Brewers number
39:13one seed locked. MLB's best record, home
39:16field advantage, everything is locked up
39:18for these guys. Uh and the Cardinals are
39:21eliminated. So, uh, but even then, uh,
39:25the Brewers are just a lot more
39:26talented. Uh, they might sit some
39:30people, but, you know, uh, Cardinals are
39:33just there playing the season out. Um,
39:36Gasser, McGrevy, I don't have a huge
39:40difference between them, but Gasser
39:41slightly higher ranked. Bullpen wise,
Rockies/White Sox
39:44the Brewers are a lot better, 10 points
39:46higher. And hitting wise, uh, the
39:49Brewers are about 17 points higher. So,
39:52if they play their starters, and that's
39:53a big if, uh, what I would do if I were
39:56a manager at this point, if I were
39:58managing the Brewers or another team
40:00like the Red Sox who have basically
40:01their playoff position locked in, I
40:03would basically play my starters for
40:05three or four innings and just play my
40:07backups the rest of the game just to
40:08give them some uh, real baseball
40:11experience. And we might see that. So,
40:14even then though, I think the Brewers
40:15are a better team.
40:17>> Yeah, I I think I think you'll see the
40:19Brewers spread the innings around. I
40:21think everyone will play this weekend.
40:22Um, I think everyone will pitch this
40:25weekend. And you know what? The Brewers,
40:28>> they're so deep. Who cares who's in
40:30there? Like, it doesn't even matter.
40:32Like, they're they're such a deep
40:34talented team. I just don't think
40:35there's a huge drop off if you've got a
40:38couple of quote unquote bench guys for
40:40the Brewers. Now, you're still you're
40:42still betting you're still paying a
40:43pretty big premium here, minus 175,
40:46minus 180 range. But I I mean that the
40:49Cardinals have been a bad baseball team
40:51for two three months now. So even even
40:55though you know they it's tough because
40:57I'm not really trying to lay - 175 - 180
41:00in a game that means nothing. But the
41:02Cardinals I want no part of them either.
41:05They're just not a good they're on the
41:07road. They're just not a good baseball
41:08team. And I wouldn't be surprised that
41:09the Brewers could sweep this weekend. It
41:11wouldn't surprise me one bit, Brian, if
41:13they come out and just steamroll.
41:16>> Yeah. I I just wanted to correct myself
41:17on one thing I said. I I talked about
41:19Tampa Bay. Uh Tampa Bay blew that game
41:22last night. So, they blew the chance on
41:24um matching Milwaukee um for the World
41:28if they happen to get to the World
41:29Series. So, yeah, Milwaukee is going to
41:31have home field home field all the way
41:33through as far as they can take it. And
41:36uh to be honest with you, I'm roo even
41:39though I'm from Cleveland, I'm rooting
41:41for Milwaukee. Uh this is a team that
41:43deserves to go deep in the playoffs. and
41:44the way they got knocked out
41:46>> last and they run their organization
41:48better than anybody.
41:50>> Those kinds of teams, they and Tampa are
41:52teams that I'm really hoping go go go
41:54far in the playoffs this year.
41:55>> Brian, I'm staying with you here, but I
41:57want to just read this uh uh Hatchet Jr.
42:01He just says, "Hey, thanks for thanks
42:03for carrying us through the dog days of
42:04summer and making money. Love the show."
42:07Yeah, we're just Listen, it'll be more
42:09fun next week at this time when we're
42:12when it's big games and it's the
42:13playoffs, but
42:15>> we're we're here to finish the job. We
42:17still have three days of the regular
42:18season left. I haven't put anything up
42:20for sale on the basis yet today. I got
42:22to see some lineups today. I don't know
42:24how you're betting today without looking
42:26at lineups. Uh because it you could have
42:29teams that just run out, you know, a
42:32rotated lineup. I'd want to at least
42:34know that. Um, but yeah, that's I I
42:36intend to be betting at some point. Uh,
42:38but I'm gonna wait until a little bit
42:40closer to game time for my Major League
42:42Baseball. Brian, we do need best bets
42:45for the parlay. Uh, do you know where
42:47you want to go with yours?
42:48>> Yeah, I do. And, uh, other than these
42:50makeup games in the day, everything else
42:53is at night. So, uh, we do have a lot of
42:55time to look at, uh, the lineups, and
42:58I'm in agreement with you. I'm probably
42:59going to put up stuff a little bit later
43:01today.
43:02Um,
43:04I'm going to go back to a game we've
43:06already talked about. Uh, I talked
43:07myself into the Texas Rangers. I've got
43:10an angle 29 and five on Deg Grom and,
43:13um, I mentioned them with all the their
43:17key hitters. I didn't even mention
43:18Brandon NMO. He's a guy who's dealt with
43:21injuries, too. So, they've got their
43:23full slate of hitters in the lineup
43:24tonight. And, uh, to get them in this
43:27price range in a game that they need.
43:29Yeah. Give me Texas. Uh let me check the
43:31updated line on that. We're looking at
43:35I'm seeing 110s 115. Let's go minus 112
43:39as uh the average on this one. So Texas
43:42minus 112 G and Ryan.
43:45>> All right. We already talked about that
43:46game. So I'm going to go to RJ and then
43:48TB we'll get your parlay league after.
43:49I'm going to go to R.J. He says, "I
43:51doubt if the White Sox will be ready to
43:52play today. Looked like one heck of a
43:54party yesterday." So yes, Will Venibal
43:57talked about this. Um he addressed this
43:59on he addressed this before the game. So
44:02he actually addressed this before the
44:04game yesterday that they won and he said
44:06if we clinch the playoffs today, we're
44:09celebrating. He said these these guys
44:12deserve it. You know, they they have
44:14they lost 100 games three straight years
44:16in a row, right? It's a massive
44:18accomplishment for them to get to the
44:19playoffs. He said, "We're going to
44:21celebrate if we win." And he said, "We
44:23will be ready to play tomorrow." He
44:24said, "We're going to celebrate. We're
44:25going to have a great time. these guys
44:27deserve it and we're he goes rest
44:29assured we will be locked back in ready
44:31to go tomorrow night at home. So he got
44:34out in front of it and he was like no
44:36we're doing this because these guys
44:38deserve it and we we are going to show
44:41up ready to play tomorrow night. So you
44:44know yeah it it looked it looked great.
44:46It looked like a fun time. The good part
44:48about that I guess for the White Sox was
44:50that was a day game. So that celebration
44:52occurred at like 4:30 in the afternoon.
44:55Um, you know, probably dumped some
44:57champagne, had a good time, got on the
45:00flight back home. I think the White
45:02Socks are going to be ready to play
45:03tonight. Tokyo Brandon, they it's all
45:06right there for them. The Guardians are
45:07the ones that have to go on the road
45:08this weekend and win baseball games. The
45:10White Socks have three home games
45:13against the Rockies. And if the earlier
45:16part of this week is any indication of
45:17what the Rockies are are doing right now
45:20and how serious they're taking games, um
45:23this this the White Sox could easily
45:25sweep this weekend at home and steal the
45:27division from the Guardians. So White
45:28Sox Rockies to you, do you see the the
45:30White Socks coming in locked in to take
45:33care of business at home tonight?
45:35>> Yeah, motivationwise,
45:38uh AL Central title is and a first round
45:41buy is on the line here. They're one
45:43game behind Cleveland and they own the
45:45tiebreaker. So, yeah, this is going to
45:47come down to the wire. They do have a
45:49reason to play, but be very careful
45:52betting the White Socks in this
45:54particular game. Um, I got a lot of red
45:58flags. Uh, looking at the White Socks
46:00here, number one, Shawn Burke walks 71%
46:03of the guys he's striking out. Is a
46:05terrible rate. Yes, Sugano is one of the
46:08worst pitchers in all of Major League
46:09Baseball, but he's not walking anyone.
46:11and he's only walking like 40%. So, uh,
46:15walk the walk advantage goes to Sigano
46:18here. Hitting
46:21Colorado is ranked higher than the White
46:22Socks in hitting and Colorado's bullpen
46:25is ranked higher than the White Sox
46:26bullpen currently in current form. I
46:28know that the White Socks are bringing
46:30guys in that they can use in long relief
46:32and we talked about it yesterday and
46:34these numbers might not reflect that
46:36fully. So, I know Adam that you
46:38particularly like the White Sox bullpen.
46:41Um, but I just have a lot of red flags
46:43here. Uh, so this particular game I
46:47would definitely stay away from if it's
46:49me. You do what you like.
46:52Brian, roll the L screen out. Roll the L
46:56screen out for Sugano because he's just
46:58throwing batting practice again tonight.
46:59That is that is all he's good for at
47:01this point. Um, the the White Socks
47:04probably score 10 runs if they really
47:06want to. I mean, if they come in locked
47:08in, I could see a crooked number. If
47:10they don't, I'll tell you what, Shawn
47:12Burke is going to have about as big of a
47:13leash as my dog does when I walk him
47:15around the neighborhood. It's not that
47:17big. Uh if that's what you because he'll
47:19he goes nuts. You hear him on the
47:21broadcast. Shawn Burke isn't in this
47:22game. If he if he the second he is not
47:26sharp, see you. He's out of this game.
47:29Venable will lean. Uh Grant Taylor still
47:31hasn't pitched in now like four days.
47:34But the there's a reason for that
47:36because they've been blowing te they
47:38they blew out the Royals twice. They
47:40didn't need uh any of their relievers or
47:42they other than Hagen Smith. They didn't
47:43they never got to the Grant Taylor spot
47:45in that series because it was blowout
47:47win tie game that the Royals got a big
47:50hit in and put them behind and and they
47:52never got to the ninth inning tied. And
47:53then yesterday it was blowout win again.
47:55So they've been sitting on Grant Taylor
47:57for four days. If if it comes to it,
48:00let's say the sixth inning rolls around,
48:01you get to the seventh inning and the
48:03White Sox have a a one run or two-run
48:06lead here, that ball's going right to
48:08Grant Taylor for three innings and he's
48:09going to get you the win. Um because
48:11again, he is yet he has not pitched in a
48:13while. And I think Venibal will use him
48:15like that. I think he'll say, "Okay, we
48:17need we'll we'll go out and get us this
48:20win and then we'll lean on the other
48:23guys because we're going to want you in
48:25some capacity in game one of whatever
48:27series we're playing in. So, I think
48:29this is a great spot for the White
48:30Socks. I don't love the price here. I
48:32mean, they're a $2 favorite. Thought,
48:36Brian, I'd go White Socks minus one and
48:37a half for I don't love that for a home
48:39team, but like again, I just I the the
48:42Rockies now go on the road where they've
48:44been miserable. They just they couldn't
48:46have played a worse series against the
48:48Diamondbacks. Like I see crooked numbers
48:51all weekend from the White Socks. I I
48:53don't think this is going to be a very
48:54competitive series.
48:55>> I
48:57I can't agree more with TB. Um the
Astros/A’s
49:01Venable is a young guy. He just got his
49:03first job. He's they brought him in. Uh
49:06as I mentioned, um I was hoping he would
49:08get the Cleveland job. Vote Votes done a
49:10nice job. No doubt about it. But um he's
49:13a young guy and that's what he would
49:16want cuz because he's he's he's only a
49:19few years out of playing himself. So um
49:22and that's a big celebration for the
49:25White Sox. The White Sox, as you
49:26mentioned, have been so bad lately. They
49:29deserve to celebrate. But the Padres's
49:32and the Guardians have are veterans have
49:34gone to the playoffs. So yeah, their
49:36celebration is not going to be nearly as
49:38much as Chicago White Sox is. Um, and
49:41yes, there's a good thing that they're
49:43home against the team with the worst
49:45record in baseball, the team that's had
49:47the worst road team in baseball the last
49:50decade at least. Um, that's the
49:53advantage they have. But I'm not laying
49:56230 on the with the White Socks here
49:59because this is baseball. Anything can
50:02happen. Uh, I do believe there'll be
50:05some runs scored in here. I'm surprised
50:07to see a run a line of eight. So I if
50:10I'm playing I'm playing the over, but I
50:14can't lay this number with the White
50:15Socks. These are young kids. Uh they're,
50:19you know, they had the big party tonight
50:21and there's the job isn't completely
50:23done yet. So um yeah, I I'm I'm with TB
50:26if I I would lay off the side in this
50:28game, but I do think they're going to be
50:29some run.
50:32Uh, Tommo Sigano,
50:34worst expected Erra RA in the league,
50:36worst expected batting average in the
50:38league, highest exit velocity in the
50:40league. Um, worst strikeout rate in the
50:43league, worst barrel rate in the league.
50:45Uh, if you can isolate that, maybe go
50:48with a White Socks first five minus the
50:51half a run if you're really worried
50:52about the uh the juice. This is a like I
50:55don't like laying one and a half with
50:57the home team.
50:59I I I mean minus 110 if you lay the one
51:01and a half with the home team. I I think
51:03this is like another huge blowout White
51:05Sox win. That's just me. Go ahead,
51:07Brian.
51:08>> According to Fan Graphs, they had Jose
51:11Quintana is the guy that was his
51:13scheduled spot and they moved up Sagano
51:16who was supposed to pitch tomorrow. Uh
51:19do we know a reason for that or they
51:21just skip Quintana or what what's going
51:23on? So, yeah. So, so Contana is now
51:26listed as the starter for tomorrow. They
51:29actually had him he was supposed to
51:32pitch in the Dback series at some point
51:34and they pushed him off. I don't know
51:36what the deal I mean he's obviously
51:37coming back from injury, but like he is
51:39now listed as tomorrow's starter. So, I
51:41don't think you're going to see him
51:42here. Um, but that is a good put. That's
51:45a much tougher matchup in my opinion for
51:47the White Socks than Sugano. So, yeah.
51:50But Kintana's already been announced as
51:52tomorrow's starter. So, this is it's
51:54going to be Sugano followed by the
51:55Rockies awful bullpen arms is what I
51:58think you're going to see today. Um,
52:02Tokyo Brandon, where are you where are
52:03you looking for the parlay? Is it a game
52:05that we have not talked about this to
52:07this point?
52:07>> It is a game we have not talked about.
52:09Before I do that, let's let's do some

52:54going to be an off day. They will not
52:56charge you for the baseball. So that'll
52:58get you'll get an extra day on if you
53:00decide to buy that.
53:01>> Correct. You can put a pass in. So you
53:03won't lose the day. So don't worry about
53:06don't worry about that. Wagazer talks
53:07customer service bar none is the best
53:10I've ever seen in this industry. They
53:12are stellar. If you ever write uh
53:15info@wagertalk.com
53:17or or missywagertalk.com, they will take
53:19care of you to the tea. It's like
53:22getting a suit customized. Anyways,
53:23let's get to the game. Uh I'm going to
53:25go to Oakland here. I love the Astros.
53:28Motivation up the yin-yang, the AL West
53:30title, postseason birth. Everything is
53:32on the line for the Astros here. Uh
53:35they're tied with Texas, but they own
53:36the tiebreaker, so every game is huge.
53:39They're probably the most motivated team
53:41in Major League Baseball. They got
53:42Hunter Brown who's an absolute stud. Uh
53:46hitting they're kind of lacking a little
53:48bit. Uh you could see in yesterday's
53:49game they kept giving the lead away,
53:51coming back, giving it away, coming
53:52back. So I don't really like how they're
53:54playing. Uh but I love them in this
53:57game. Hunter Brown light years better
53:59than Jacob Lopez, who I think is the
54:02Oakland starter. Yeah. Uh and bullpens
54:05are negligible. I'm not crazy about
54:07Houston's bullpen, but with the
54:09motivation, the hitting, uh, the better
54:12coaching, and I love Hunter Brown. Give
54:14me the Astros here for my parlay leg.
54:17>> Brian, A's, Astros. Anything for you in
54:19this one?
54:20>> No. Uh, but the A's continue to play
54:23hard. Give them got give them a lot of
54:25credit for being uh out of the playoffs
54:26for this long.
54:28>> Yeah, the A Tokyo Brandon's right. I
54:31mean, the Astros have have everything to
54:32play for here. Um, I I'll have to go
54:35back and and see who's got the
54:36tiebreaker. I feel like the Astros maybe
54:38have the tiebreaker between these two
54:41teams.
54:42>> So, but still they need to at least hold
54:44surf. They need to match the Rangers.
54:46Um, so yeah, huge game for them. Uh,
54:49Brian's right. The A's have really been
54:51scrappy uh for the final month or so.
54:54probably not
54:56>> they're hitting
54:57>> like not the team that um that the that
55:00the Astros probably want to see in this
55:02spot having to go on the road to play
55:03them at Sutter Health Park where they've
55:05been pretty good the last month. So
55:09yeah, nothing for me there either, but
55:10uh we will be rooting for your Astros
55:13pick. I'll be rooting for your Astros
55:14pick because I need them to win this
55:15division uh to to get out of the futures
55:19that I fired. If the Rangers win this
55:21division, your boy's losing a few
55:23dollars. So, good thing things are going
55:24so well. Uh, because the future not so
55:27well.
55:28>> Sorry. I believe it's minus 180 for the
55:30tiebreaker or for the parlay
55:33>> for the parlay. And Colin, Astros fan, I
55:35knew he'd be all over it. Uh, he says
55:37yes, the Astros do have the tiebreaker
55:40with the Rangers. Brian, what is our
55:42Astros money line that's fair to give
55:44out to the people?
55:45>> I would say 175. So, it's not quite as
55:47bad. Um I've seen them 182 out there,
55:51but uh yeah, most of them are 175 range.
55:54>> I had them yesterday minus one for a 4%
55:56play.
55:57>> Uh and they kept they kept giving runs
56:00away at the end though. Their bullpen is
56:02not exactly the most reliable, but
56:04neither is is Oakland's. And uh Jacob
56:07Lopez not a guy I like to back. So
56:11>> yeah, I mean he's been better, but like
56:13you just Astros have to lock in. It's
56:16this a game they have to have and I I I
56:19could see them finding a way here. Um so
56:21yeah, we we'll we'll see if we can uh we
56:24we'll see if we can make it a second
56:25parlay. We hit it yesterday. Uh we've
56:27got it locked in for today. Once again,
56:30we've just got three sides. I'm going to
56:31go with the Cubs on the money line in
56:33game one of the double header. That is
56:35the 100 p.m. Eastern game this
56:37afternoon. Brian's going Rangers minus
56:40115 and Tokyo Brandon is going Astros
56:43minus 175. So, three full game money
56:46lines. It's Cubs game one, Rangers minus
56:49115, Astros minus 175. I got the 5enter
56:53up in NFL for Sunday. Haven't put
56:56anything up for yet for today. Anyone
56:58have anything to promote for tonight?
57:00>> I've got the uh one playing college
57:03football today. I really like easy
57:04winner yesterday as we've talked about.
57:07Uh we didn't talk about the Cleveland
57:08Kansas City game. I'm excited to watch
57:10that one. One of the best pitching
57:11matches of the season. I believe
57:13Cleveland can't hit lefties and they're
57:15going up against the hottest lefty in
57:16baseball right now. So, should be an
57:18exciting game uh with playoff
57:20implications.
57:21>> Mac, I'll read it one more time and then
57:23I'll let Tokyo Brandon close out the
57:25show. I used Cubs minus 120 in game one
57:29of the double header as my parlay
57:30league. Brian Leonard is going Rangers
57:33minus 115. Tokyo Brandon is going Astros
57:36minus 175. TB, tell the people about
57:40your run and what you have up and we'll
57:41then we'll get out of here.
57:43>> 25 and four run right now. I'm number
57:45one in the last three days, number one
57:47in the last seven days among 33 cappers.
57:50Brian's number one the last 13 months, I
57:52believe. Adam's number one at NFL. We're
57:54all hot. Get a double play. Two of us
57:58for three days baseball all access.
58:00Catch my Asian baseball show. I do have
58:02an MLB play up tonight. Uh, and I also
58:05ha will have an Asian baseball play out,
58:08but I'm going to cover every Asian
58:10baseball KBO and Japanese baseball
58:12tonight, 900 PM on my channel. So, catch
58:15that as well.
58:17>> 900 PM on Tokyo Brandon's channel doing
58:19a live Asian baseball show. Absolutely
58:21love that. The three of us will be back
58:23tomorrow morning, 9:00 a.m. Eastern, uh,
58:25for the final total bases of the regular
58:27season. Obviously, we don't do the show
58:29on Sunday, but then we'll be right back
58:31to kick off the playoffs with you guys.
58:33So, we will see you tomorrow morning and
58:35uh good luck. Cash all the tickets and
58:38uh yeah, have a great Friday. We'll see
58:39you in the morning.
