0:01Hey everyone, Sam Ovens here. And in

0:03today's video, I want to tell you why

0:05productivity is complete and

0:09why the secret is doing less instead.

0:14So, what I mean by that is, you know, a

0:16lot of people, they talk about

0:18productivity and what they do is they

0:21just try to cram as much stuff as

0:24possible into their to-do list and they

0:26try to do as many things as possible.

0:28And that's how they really define

0:30productivity and working hard and

0:33getting things done. And you know, this

0:35thing is spread like a rampant disease

0:38and it's spread across pretty much

0:40everyone. And I see people reading books

0:43on how to get things done. And you know,

0:47that's pretty much like a

0:47procrastination thing to do. You know,

0:49getting things done is about getting

0:50things done. And then I see people like

0:53signing up to like 10 different software

0:55tools to create a to-do list when a

0:58to-do list can just be done on a piece

1:00of paper. And I see people even

1:02attending seminars and webinars, reading

1:05books and articles and blogs and

1:07creating, you know, so much complexity

1:09for themselves just to try and be

1:12productive. And these people have got it

1:14completely backwards. And I know this

1:17because I used to be that person. You

1:19know, I used to try and cram as much

1:21things as I could possibly do into my

1:23calendar. And you know, I was

1:26I I was doing so many different things

1:28and really when I looked at it

1:30objectively, most of my time was spent

1:33trying to figure out how to do and

1:35trying to manage doing so many different

1:36things instead of actually doing the

1:38things, which is pretty crazy. But

1:40that's what happens when you try to do

1:42too many things. Most of your time gets

1:44wasted switching tasks and

1:48optimizing what tasks you should be

1:49working on and then actually, you know,

1:52figuring out when am I going to work on

1:54this, when am I going to work on that

1:55other instead of actually just doing

1:58something. So, it's a complete waste of

2:00time. And really what the secret is is

2:02it's to do less. It's to just get rid of

2:05it. You know, the more you want to try

2:07and just remove things from your life,

2:08remove things from your business. And

2:11you want to get as much things as many

2:13things off your plate as humanly

2:15possible. And in today's video, I'm

2:17going to show you specific examples that

2:20I've used and that you can use, too, to

2:23really clear your plate and focus.

2:26And why you want to do this

2:29is because I can explain it

2:32with a very simple diagram here. So,

2:38what I'm going to do here is I'm just

2:39going to talk to you about the only

2:41thing that you have in your life,

2:44which is energy.

2:48Right?

2:51And

2:53you know, with energy,

2:55it it works like this. We only have a

2:57finite amount of it. You know, we we all

2:59have 24 hours in a day and we all pretty

3:01much live for the same amount of time.

3:03And you know, all we really have to put

3:06into anything is energy, energy and

3:07time. And when you do lots of different

3:11things, this is where your energy goes.

3:17Goes into all of these different things.

3:20And you make progress

3:22outwards like that.

3:24So, you make a little bit of progress in

3:26lots of things and you expend that much

3:28energy. That's how it works.

3:30But then, here's what happens when you

3:32get rid of all of these things and focus

3:34on one thing instead. So, you add up all

3:36of these lines here. So, let's say each

3:38one of these lines is like an inch or

3:40something. And there's 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

3:44lines here. So, you know, it it's it's

3:46off the chart here. It's that much

3:49progress.

3:51And this isn't some sort of exaggeration

3:54or anything. You can It's mathematics. I

3:56mean, if you have 9 in of energy to give

3:59and you put it into nine different

4:00things, you're going to make 1 in of

4:02progress in each thing.

4:05But if you put 9 in of energy into one

4:07thing, you're going to make 9 in of

4:09progress. It is just as plain and as

4:11simple as that. So, people trying to do

4:14lots of different things, this is them

4:17going nowhere

4:19slowly.

4:20And the people who just rid themselves

4:23of most trivial things and focus on one

4:26specific thing,

4:28they're the ones that make massive

4:30progress. And these are the champions

4:32that you hear about. I will give you an

4:33example. One of them is Michael Phelps.

4:38So, Michael Phelps, his to-do list each

4:41day is wake up,

4:43get in pool.

4:45And that's all he does. He just wakes

4:47up, gets in the pool.

4:50Because all he is trying to do is be the

4:52world's best swimmer. And the only way

4:54he's going to buy he's going to do that

4:56is by practicing. And by removing all of

4:58this crap out of his life and just doing

5:00that each day,

5:02things happen. And really what Michael

5:04Phelps has done

5:06is he's put his energy

5:09into swimming

5:10instead of into Facebook and social

5:12media and into working a 9-to-5 job and

5:16and things like that. That's what he's

5:17done with his energy and you can see

5:19what happens.

5:20Now,

5:22let's talk about some specific things

5:23that you can do to really, you know,

5:25become more productive and really

5:27channel your energy in. Now, the biggest

5:30thing I see people waste time on is

5:33probably

5:35like just put their personal life. You

5:37know, it's not actually their business

5:38stuff. It's personal stuff that's going

5:40to be taking up most of their time. And

5:42typically what I see is it's little

5:44errands or it's it's things they have to

5:46do around the house.

5:48So for example, cleaning your house,

5:51then buying groceries, and then cooking,

5:55and then eating, and then doing dishes,

5:58and thinking about what you're going to

5:59eat, and then

6:01you know, doing your laundry, and if

6:03you've got a garden or lawns, mowing the

6:05lawns, doing the garden, checking the

6:07mail, opening the mail. Like all of

6:09those things, those things there pretty

6:12much the first things that you want to

6:13get rid of.

6:15And the way to get rid of those things

6:18is to really like hire a chef. You know,

6:22if you if you're making more than say

6:24$10,000 a month,

6:27then you you should have a chef. If you

6:30don't have a personal chef and you're

6:31making more than 10 grand a month, then

6:33that is you know, you're you're pretty

6:35much being stupid because you're

6:37spending your time

6:39cooking food and everything when you

6:41should be spending your time doing what

6:42you do best, which is probably running

6:43your business. So one of the best things

6:46I did was hire a personal chef, and her

6:49name's Alyssa, and she comes in here I

6:51think it's like four times a week for

6:53about three hours

6:55each time, and she completely cooks all

6:58of the meals, lunch and dinner for six

7:02days of the week. And then on Sunday, my

7:05wife and I we go out for brunch, and

7:07then we might go out for dinner. We we

7:08leave Sunday to be open, but six days a

7:11week the chef has prepared meals. So all

7:14I have to do,

7:15you know, in the past what I'd have to

7:17do is I'd be working over here at my

7:20desk,

7:22and then I'd be like, oh, it's

7:23lunchtime. I'm hungry. And so then what

7:25I'd do

7:26is I'd wander over to the fridge and the

7:28pantry and look in there, and then there

7:30was nothing really to eat. So I was

7:32like, okay.

7:33Well, now you know, I've got to order

7:36something, or I've got to go out and

7:37grab something. And now I'm like, well,

7:38what should I get? What's close? Where

7:40could I go? Then I usually talk to my

7:43wife and I'm like, "Oh, what do you

7:44want?" Before you know it, like 30

7:46minutes has gone into this exercise just

7:49trying to figure out what to eat. And

7:51then we actually order the thing, and

7:53then it takes like an hour to get

7:54delivered, and then we have to eat the

7:56thing. And you can see like there That's

7:58one meal. That's just lunch on one day a

8:00week. You know, you're probably spending

8:03huge amount of time on things like this,

8:05and it's being completely wasted. You

8:07know, you want to if you're making more

8:09than 10 grand a month, you want to have

8:10a chef. And if you're not making more

8:12than 10 grand a month,

8:14and you're just, you know, money is more

8:15scarce for you, well, there's still

8:17something you can do on the whole food

8:19in the whole food department. What you

8:21want to do is you should buy all of your

8:24groceries once a week on a Sunday, for

8:26example,

8:28and

8:29batch it. Buy everything on that one

8:31time so that you're not going out and

8:32doing like a thousand different things.

8:34Just do it all on one day, and then on

8:36Sunday I'd pretty much cook all of your

8:37meals for the whole week. Just cook

8:39them, put them into little containers,

8:42and then when it's time for lunch each

8:44day, when it's time for dinner each day,

8:46then just go and grab the container,

8:48heat it up, eat it. So, because my chef

8:50isn't here every single day, you know,

8:52you can see that there's stuff in

8:54containers over here.

8:57So that, you know, all we have to do for

8:59dinner tonight, for example, is pull

9:01that out, heat it, and we're good.

9:03So, you know, number one

9:06thing that the the number one thing I

9:07can tell you out of everything I've ever

9:09done that saved the most time is hiring

9:11a chef because, you know, as humans we

9:13have we need to eat quite a lot of

9:14stuff. We don't really think about

9:15objectively, but the a lot of time and a

9:18lot of thought and a lot of energy goes

9:20into food. And so when you can get that

9:22off your plate, it is it is so freeing.

9:25It's more freeing than any book you're

9:26ever going to read on productivity, and

9:29it's more freeing than

9:31anything you could possibly do in terms

9:33of productivity. You know, it's It's

9:35about working harder, it's not about

9:37being more productive, it's just simply

9:38about doing less, getting rid of it.

9:41And then, you know, focusing on what you

9:43do best.

9:44So, get rid of that. And if you can't,

9:46if you don't have the money to do it,

9:48well, batch it. Do all of your

9:50groceries, cook on a Sunday, then just

9:53pull out the containers and eat them.

9:55Now, I'll tell you another thing that I

9:56did

9:58uh to really get more productive.

10:01And that was

10:03hire a personal trainer that actually

10:05lives in my house, and we'll go see him

10:07right now.

10:09Hey, how you doing, mate?

10:10Pretty good.

10:12Good to hear.

10:13What's your name?

10:14Hey, how you doing? Rhett.

10:15So, yes, this is Rhett, and he's my uh

10:18live-in personal trainer. I don't even

10:20know if that's a job title, but

10:22We created it.

10:23if it is, I mean, well, it is now,

10:25because that's what he does. And

10:28really what Rhett does, I'm I may as

10:30well let you just describe like what's

10:32your main

10:34role here?

10:35Pretty much manage all your health. So,

10:37everything from your sleep, nutrition,

10:39fitness,

10:41um

10:42and then managing the chef as well to

10:44make sure all the meals are pretty

10:45specific to Sam.

10:47And that's pretty much it. And then also

10:48like extra

10:49uh health stats and uh sleep tracking

10:52and things like that.

10:53Yep. So, pretty much what I found is

10:56that when I was responsible for going to

10:57the gym myself, it didn't really happen

10:59that that often. But what I did find is

11:02that if I went to the gym, I felt better

11:04and I actually got more done. So, I was

11:05like, what can I do to to like game the

11:09system? What can I do to make myself

11:11actually go to the gym all the time? And

11:14instead of just trying to be more

11:15productive, the answer was just get rid

11:17of it. You know, make Because Rhett's in

11:20my house, every day he's going to be

11:21waiting by the door at 6:50 in the

11:24morning to go to the gym.

11:26And that means I have to do it. And then

11:28when I did that, I also don't have to

11:30remember like what am I training on this

11:32day or what am I doing here or any of

11:34that stuff. You know, Rhett completely

11:36has that covered and he looks after all

11:38of that. And more than that, he also uh

11:42we have a chef, but Rhett plans the

11:44meals. So, he'll look at different

11:46recipes for the week, for the month, and

11:48he'll plan what meals we're going to

11:50have when, and then he'll order the

11:52groceries online from Whole Foods.

11:54Groceries will get delivered, he gets

11:56them here, puts them in the fridge. Then

11:57when the chef comes here, he gives the

11:59recipes to the chef, and then the food

12:01is in the fridge, so the chef just gets

12:03the food and the recipe and then cooks

12:04the food. And so, all of that stuff's

12:07covered, and I don't have to do anything

12:09there. All I have to do is walk to the

12:11table, eat it, and then walk back to my

12:13desk. And everything from buying the

12:15groceries, preparing them, cooking it,

12:17thinking about what meals are going to

12:18go where, and even doing the dishes, I

12:22don't have to do any of it.

12:23And that makes

12:26Well, that makes me

12:28it gives me way more energy, or I've

12:31really got the same amount of energy,

12:32but instead of it going into those

12:33things, it can go into what I do best,

12:36and that helps a ton. Also, what I got

12:38Rhett to do is basically like observe

12:42me. So, you know, what I'm most afraid

12:45of really is

12:47is tripping up and forgetting, you know,

12:49what I'm supposed to do because that's

12:50what happens. And

12:53really, in the past where I've gotten to

12:55trouble and I've diverted from my goals,

12:58it's when I have like broken my routine.

13:02So, I might have started going to bed

13:03later, waking up later, and when that

13:05gets out of alignment, then everything

13:07else it's like an avalanche. You know,

13:09when you break one little thing,

13:10everything just just explodes. And so

13:13then what happens is I forget what my

13:15routine was, I stop going to the gym, I

13:16start eating bad again, and we're

13:18completely off the rails. So, Rhett's

13:21role also is to make is to kind of

13:23observe me, make sure that I'm going to

13:26bed at at right time, waking up at the

13:27right time, and also, you know, not

13:30eating bad food, taking the right

13:31supplements, and he also tracks my

13:34health stats using something called a an

13:36aura ring. That's o u r a and it's o u r

13:40a r i n g, you can Google it. And those

13:42things are awesome. That tracks your

13:43sleep and it really gives you data and

13:46metrics on how well you're sleeping. And

13:49I can tell you that, you know, one of

13:50the best things that you can do in terms

13:53of productivity is to get better sleep.

13:55And why that is is because

13:58Yeah, it's more important than diet,

13:59more important than exercise. Like we've

14:00tracked it. Like we have looked at what

14:03happens when, you know, you have

14:05uh

14:06good exercise, but you don't get diet

14:08right. And we've looked at what happens

14:10when you get diet right, but you don't

14:11exercise. And then we've looked at what

14:12happens when you get diet right,

14:14exercise right, but not sleep. And the

14:16most important factor out of all of

14:18those things is sleep. So, and it's the

14:21it's funny cuz that's the one thing

14:22people probably shortchange themselves

14:24on.

14:24Absolutely.

14:25And what really happens when you don't

14:27sleep properly is your conscious mind,

14:31it get it kind of shuts down a little

14:33bit. Because, you know, when you're

14:35asleep, your conscious mind's asleep and

14:37your subconscious mind is doing the

14:39breathing and everything for you.

14:41However, when you're awake, you're

14:42mostly, you know, with your conscious

14:43mind. And what happens is when you get

14:46really tired, your conscious starts to

14:48get weaker. And your conscious mind is

14:50really the police officer of what you

14:52should be doing and sticking to a

14:54routine and a schedule and all of that.

14:56So, as soon as you start shortchanging

14:58yourself on sleep, what you'll find is

15:00that you start shortchanging yourself on

15:03everything. You'll forget what you're

15:05even supposed to be doing and you'll be

15:07way more distractible. You know, that's

15:10why what that's why cults and uh the

15:12military, the army,

15:14the first thing they do when you go to a

15:16cult and when you go into the army is

15:18they'll deprive you of sleep. Because it

15:20makes you more brainwashable.

15:23You know, if you're tired, it's easy to

15:24convince you of something that you

15:26didn't really want, and it's easy to to

15:29brainwash you and turn you into

15:30something that is controlled by somebody

15:33else. And so, you know, it's it's an

15:35age-old tactic, and that just show that

15:38just goes to show that, you know, having

15:41not enough sleep, it's it's it's it can

15:44do huge harm. And that's why you want to

15:46make sure that you get at least 8 hours

15:48every single night.

15:50So, this is Rhett.

15:52And if you don't if you don't have

15:55enough money to hire a personal trainer

15:57and move them into your house and do all

15:59of that, which I'm well aware of for

16:01people that are watching, cuz not

16:03everyone can just hire a chef and and

16:05get a personal trainer into their house.

16:07But, what would you recommend, Rhett,

16:08for

16:09sleep, exercise, fitness, diet?

16:13Uh because you've been a personal

16:14trainer for a while. If you don't have

16:15the funds, like what what is the best

16:17thing you can do?

16:18So, if you don't have the funds to hire

16:19anyone, I would recommend firstly buying

16:22an Aura ring and just getting your sleep

16:23on track down pat. Then, I would

16:26honestly hire either a nutrition coach

16:30or a fitness coach to then guide you

16:32through, like an online coach,

16:34which is a lot cheaper than in person,

16:36obviously, to guide you through

16:38everything that you need to be doing to

16:39be able to hold yourself accountable.

16:41And then, finally,

16:43what I would do is just make sure you're

16:45exercising every day. And no matter what

16:48it is, just get your body moving, eat

16:50clean foods, cut out processed foods,

16:52and that'll take you 90% of the way

16:54there.

16:55It's good advice.

16:57Yeah, you absolutely

16:59it.

17:00Simplify it right down.

17:01Mhm.

17:02And have you found that when people have

17:04routines that they're more likely to

17:07complete the exercise and everything

17:08like that?

17:09Yeah, you've got to plan your day, 100%.

17:11And that's what I've found, too. Is I'm

17:13just going to go back to the office now,

17:15but thanks for that.

17:15Hey, guys.

17:16Um that's what I found too. When I

17:20you know, naturally really what I what I

17:22like to do and what I used to do, which

17:24was a big trap and it hurt me a lot, was

17:28just take every day as it comes and not

17:30create any routine or any schedule or

17:32any plan and just

17:34just have a bunch of freedom.

17:35And while that's kind of nice, it also

17:38sucks because you don't get to achieve

17:40your dreams and you don't get to do the

17:42big things that you really want to do.

17:45And so after trying to get things done

17:47having a completely open schedule and

17:49failing to get things done, I decided,

17:52you know, I really need to have a strict

17:54routine, like a protocol to follow. And

17:57when I implemented one of these, like

17:59everything changed for me, everything

18:01shifted.

18:02And what you really want to do

18:04is set like very strict rules for

18:08yourself each day.

18:10And what I mean by that is you what you

18:11need to have a wake up time that is the

18:13same every single day, Monday to Sunday.

18:16And if you don't when you start to have

18:18one of those, you you know your day

18:20starting at this time and you know

18:21you're going to be in bed at this time.

18:23So you know when you're going to be

18:24asleep and now you can plan what you're

18:26going to do with all the hours in

18:27between.

18:28But when you don't have one of those,

18:29you don't know how to plan, you don't

18:30know how to schedule things in and it

18:32just doesn't work.

18:33So you want to create a strict schedule

18:36and then you have to be extreme you have

18:39to have like monk-like discipline to

18:40stick to it. You'll you know, you'll

18:42you'll want to do every anything you can

18:44to break it, but you have to stick to

18:45it. The more disciplined you are, the

18:47more money you make. That's just how it

18:48works. You know, a lot of business and a

18:50lot of success is just ruthless

18:52discipline and how strict you can be on

18:55yourself.

18:56And

18:57what I do is, you know, I finish work

19:00every night in between 8:00 and 9:00

19:01p.m.

19:02and then I'm in bed by 10:00 and I have

19:04to be asleep by 11:00. That's the

19:06protocol for going to sleep. Then I wake

19:08up at 6:50 a.m. and then training starts

19:12at 7:00 a.m. with Rhett. We go down to

19:14the gym, we train for an hour, then I

19:16come back, and then I immediately have a

19:18shower, and that happens at roughly 8:00

19:21a.m.

19:22The shower, and then I get changed and

19:23dressed and all of that. We're at like

19:258:30 a.m.

19:27And then at 8:30 a.m. I have my morning

19:29smoothie and my supplements and

19:31everything, which Rhett's prepared. Have

19:33those, then I log my health stats from

19:34my Oura Ring into a Google Doc tracking

19:38sheet, so we can track all of that. And

19:40now we're at 9:00 a.m.

19:42And then at 9:00 a.m. I interview one of

19:44my customers for about 30 to 45 minutes.

19:48And then after that, it's about 10:00

19:50a.m. And that's when my day starts, but

19:52every single morning I do those things.

19:54I forgot one other thing, I meditate.

19:57So,

19:58after I have the breakfast and all my

20:01morning smoothie and my supplements, it

20:03would be 8:30, and then I go into my

20:06bedroom and I meditate for 20 minutes,

20:09and now we're at 8:50, and then when

20:119:00 comes, I'm doing the customer

20:12interview. And then my real work day

20:14starts at 10:00 a.m. And those are all

20:17the things I do before 10:00 a.m.

20:19And really what, you know, I can get

20:21more stuff done by 10:00 a.m. than most

20:22people do in like a week.

20:24And then I go in and and do my day's

20:27work, and typically I will work from

20:30home

20:32uh one day I'll work from home four days

20:34a week, and then I'll work from my

20:37office, the consulting.com headquarters

20:40in here in New York. I work from my

20:42office

20:43uh one day a week. And the reason why I

20:45do that is because one of the best

20:48strategies I have for getting things

20:50done and really being efficient and

20:52productive is to just completely isolate

20:54myself. You know, it's really my secret

20:57weapon is just to lock the windows,

20:58close the doors, turn everything off,

21:01turn off my phone, put it in another

21:03room,

21:04and then to not don't look at my email,

21:07Don't look at social media. Don't look

21:08at anything. Lock the windows, close the

21:10doors, isolate myself, and just do it.

21:14That really is, you know, my secret

21:16weapon. And the people I've taught it

21:18to, it's become their secret weapon,

21:20too.

21:21And so, if there's really, you know, a

21:24few main points you take from this

21:26video, the first one

21:28has got to be this.

21:30Energy.

21:32How many things are you doing? Where

21:34does it go?

21:36And if you do one thing, that's the

21:38progress you can make. If you do many,

21:40that's the progress you're going to

21:41make.

21:43And a lot of people, they're like

21:45Like, they think that I make quite a bit

21:46of money with my consulting business.

21:49Be And they wonder how I do it with only

21:51really one product and one funnel.

21:54And it's funny, you people even write

21:56posts about it, asking how it's possible

21:58and all of these things. But, it it

22:00comes back to this. You know, if lots of

22:02people have I see some people and they

22:05have multiple

22:07You know, as soon as I see someone with

22:08multiple businesses, I know that they're

22:10poor, pretty much. Because this is going

22:12on.

22:13And then, with when people have multiple

22:15websites

22:16Again, when people have too many

22:18products

22:20When people have too many funnels

22:22When people have too many anything, this

22:24happens.

22:26And when people really focus, this

22:28happens.

22:29So, in my life, I'm always trying to

22:31find out what's that one thing.

22:33So, me, I only have one business. It's

22:35consulting.com.

22:37And I only really in that business only

22:40really have one product. I'm about to

22:42really I'm about to roll out my second

22:44one now. But, in order to do that, I've

22:47had to be in this business for like 5, 6

22:50years. And now we have about 50

22:52employees before I can actually go from

22:54one thing to two. And you might think,

22:57"Oh, but how You won't be able to make

22:58that much money with only doing one

23:00thing." It's the exact opposite. My

23:02business makes significantly more than

23:04anybody else I know with multiple

23:06products. So,

23:08you know, don't fall for this massive

23:11fallacy that by doing more you're going

23:13to make more cuz what I see happen and

23:15what history shows us is that doing more

23:18often gets you less.

23:20And if we look at the people that focus,

23:23they're the people who achieve more. So,

23:25the answer is to do less, not more.

23:28And if you if you want to really get

23:30things like if you want to really get

23:32things done, you have to lock the

23:34windows, close the doors, shut

23:35everything off,

23:37isolate yourself,

23:38and then just do it.

23:40It is an extremely good strategy. You

23:42don't have to be connected to people all

23:44the time.

23:45You know, I see a lot of people they've

23:46got uh on their phone they've got like

23:4950 apps. On my phone I have four apps.

23:53And those apps, those four apps, they

23:55have notifications turned off. And then

23:57my iPhone is on airplane mode. And then

24:00it's in a drawer.

24:02So, it's totally off. But most other

24:04people I see they've got like 50 apps,

24:06all of them push notifications to them,

24:08phone's on loud, sitting right where

24:10they can see it, and then they're at

24:11their computer with like 50 tabs open.

24:14And every single tab is blue is blurping

24:17at them. And then every 10 seconds their

24:19damn phone is vibrating.

24:22And how the hell can you get anything

24:23done with that going on?

24:25So, I have really strict rules. My When

24:27I'm working at my computer, my phone is

24:29off and it's in my drawer.

24:31And then if I'm on my phone, I only want

24:33four apps and I I don't want to see all

24:35these notifications anywhere. I just go

24:37into the one I need to use, get it, use

24:39it, do what I need to do, and then get

24:40out, done, phone's back in the drawer

24:42and off.

24:43You know, you need to shut all of these

24:44things off and get rid of them.

24:46And I can give you one awesome

24:48productivity tip right now. Delete

24:50everything. Go on to your phone right

24:52now. Look at all the apps you've got and

24:54just get rid of them all. You only need

24:56about four or five. Just delete them

24:58all. You don't need them, and if you do,

25:00you can always download one.

25:01It's It's fine. You can download it

25:02later, but just get rid of them all.

25:04And then make sure none of them are

25:05pushing notifications to you. Turn all

25:07your notifications off.

25:09And I don't have Facebook on my phone. I

25:12don't use Snapchat at all. And

25:16uh you know, I don't have really any

25:17social media apps at all on my phone

25:19except for Instagram just because I post

25:22stories throughout uh throughout the day

25:25uh so that my customers and everything

25:26can can get updates. That's really all I

25:28use it for.

25:30And then another one is your phone. So,

25:32who has your phone number?

25:34And a lot of people, they give their

25:36phone number to like everybody. And

25:38their phone number, one way you can tell

25:40if somebody's poor

25:41is if their phone number, their mobile

25:43phone number is in their email

25:44signature.

25:46So, if someone's got their mobile phone

25:47in their email signature, they're poor.

25:49And if someone's got their mobile phone

25:51on a business card, they're poor.

25:53Because wealthy people would not be so

25:56stupid with their time.

25:59They wouldn't give people a way to

26:00distract them.

26:02I don't have a business card because I

26:04don't want to give one to anyone because

26:06now they know my email and my phone

26:07number and they'll be able to call me.

26:08So, I don't even have them.

26:10And then my email footer

26:12does not have anything in it. It just is

26:14Sam.

26:15And so, these are some other things you

26:16can do to really stop distractions

26:19coming in. And another thing you can do

26:21is just change your phone number.

26:23You know, every few months I just change

26:24my phone number so that people who have

26:27gathered it from from the past, they

26:29call it, it's just dead. So, really only

26:31about five people know my phone number,

26:33and even if they call me, my phone's off

26:34and it's in my drawer.

26:36And so, you want to start looking at all

26:38of these ways that people can get access

26:40to you and start cutting them all off.

26:43You want to get rid of it all. You know,

26:44make sure that your attention is is is

26:49really protected like the precious thing

26:50that it is. Don't give people ways to

26:53distract you. Get rid of them. Barricade

26:55yourself off.

26:57And so,

26:58that's, you know, that's really why I

27:01think productivity is complete

27:03and the answer is to do less instead.

27:06And I'll leave you with one final thing,

27:08and this is

27:09this is something that really plagues

27:12most people on Earth right now.

27:15I'd say social media is probably the

27:16number one cancer, actually. Social

27:18media is probably the worst thing in the

27:20world

27:21for getting things done right now.

27:23It's, you know, you want to get rid of

27:25it. Get rid of everything you can on

27:27social media. Delete it all, and just

27:30try and be disciplined and only use it

27:32for like 30 minutes a day just to post

27:33some stuff, reply to some stuff, out.

27:36That's the first thing that I can see is

27:38killing most people.

27:40The second thing is email.

27:42You know, with email, people have it

27:45pushing notifications to them, so their

27:47phone's constantly going zzz zzz zzz.

27:49And it's they're constantly checking

27:50these emails, and then on their computer

27:52it's going ding ding ding, and they're

27:54they're constantly checking these

27:55emails.

27:56Get rid of it.

27:57Turn the notifications off, and only

28:01check your email

28:02like once every 3 days.

28:04You know, me, I will check my email once

28:07pretty much every 3 days unless I need

28:09to go in there to find something. And

28:10then I'll reply to things once every 3

28:13days, and then I'll just leave it.

28:15Nothing's that urgent that people need

28:17to get in touch with me right now. And

28:18if it was that urgent, they'd find me

28:20another way.

28:22So, you know, email. Stop being reactive

28:25to things. You know, stop reacting to

28:27all of this noise that's trying to

28:29bombard you every day.

28:31Enforce your will, and enforce what you

28:35want upon, you know, other people.

28:39Because otherwise, you know, they're

28:41going to enforce their will upon you.

28:44And a famous, I don't think this is

28:46actually famous, but a really good quote

28:48that somebody told me once

28:51was Sam, if you don't have a plan

28:55you'll become a part of somebody else's.

28:58And so every time someone's trying to

29:00get your attention with a with social

29:02media, with email, a text, a call,

29:06anytime someone's trying to get your

29:07attention with anything

29:08they're trying to enforce their will and

29:11their plan on you.

29:13And so you have to get rid of that and

29:15you have to protect it and you have to

29:18make sure that you're following nobody's

29:20guidance other than your own.

29:23And that really is like

29:25probably the most powerful thing that

29:26you can do to achieve success in life

29:29and business

29:30is to be disciplined, block out the

29:32noise, work out what you want, focus on

29:35it obsessively

29:37and then it just work on it every single

29:39day to get it done.

29:42So that's pretty much it for this video.

29:45I wanted to tell you why I think doing

29:47too many things and trying to use 20

29:49softwares to do it is just

29:51It's a waste of time.

29:52And if you really want to achieve

29:53anything meaningful in life and business

29:56do less.

29:57Find out what that one thing is, obsess

30:00over it and just do that every single

30:02day and it will take you where you want

30:03to go.

30:04So that's it for this video. Thanks for

30:06watching. What I encourage you to do
