0:00everyone same happens here and today I
0:03want to talk about tuning hard things
0:06into base instincts so first of all like
0:11why would you want to do that and what
0:12is a base instinct so when I look at
0:15like these different Facebook groups and
0:17things and when I look at what other
0:18people start out entrepreneurs and
0:21things are going through and the
0:22problems that they're coming up against
0:24and facing a lot of it you know they'll
0:26say things like hey I'm thinking about
0:29starting my own business but I'm not
0:30sure if I'll be any good at it or I'm
0:32not sure if I'll succeed or I don't feel
0:34very confident and you know they think
0:37oh because I don't feel confident and
0:39because I am NOT a master at this thing
0:43yet
0:43then I don't know if I should start I
0:45don't know if I should actually do it
0:47and this is a very common delusion that
0:51I see amongst all human beings and what
0:54it is is basically you know as a human
0:56when we come up against something when
0:58we when we face something in life like a
1:00particular task or something and we
1:04aren't good at it and it's unknowing to
1:07us and we haven't done it before and
1:08it's foreign you know what we do is we
1:11think oh this is this is bad
1:13like I'm not any good at this I don't
1:14know what to do and the outcome I have
1:17no idea what that's going to be and then
1:19all these emotions come on and we start
1:21thinking of this is bad we should we
1:22shouldn't do this at all all right and
1:24then a lot of people think well if this
1:27is hard and I'm feeling scared about it
1:29and uncertain then I shouldn't do it at
1:31all and so they don't and that's why
1:33most people never achieve greatness and
1:36that's why most people never start their
1:38own business and that's why most people
1:39don't achieve their dreams because they
1:42try to do something that's new they come
1:44up against that resistance the emotions
1:46come on and then they react to that and
1:48that's the sequence and then they come
1:51back and they retreat to fine and
1:53retreating to fine is like gotta be the
1:56thing that plagues most people you know
1:58they want to be up here they do they
2:01dream of being here but then they start
2:03to try and get there then they feel a
2:05bit of pain and then they retreat to
2:07fine and then they just stay comfy at
2:09this level but it's the
2:11first most excruciating place to be in
2:13in the world because you know knowing
2:15you could be here dreaming of being here
2:17and not getting there and not even
2:20trying to get there that's the worst
2:22I wouldn't wish that upon anybody and so
2:24what this is is you know it's the basic
2:27human it's a basic human bias that we
2:31have whenever we face circumstances or
2:34situations that unknown to us and we're
2:39not able to predict what's going to
2:40happen and they're foreign then we tend
2:43to get emotional about it and not want
2:45to try it and this you'll see this
2:48happen everywhere like whenever you try
2:50and change the way somebody does
2:52something so even Facebook like every
2:55now and then they'll change their user
2:56interface the UI and then all these
2:58people are up in arms about it and then
3:00we an Instagram change their look
3:01everyone was up in arms about it just
3:03changing little behaviors like that peep
3:05because it's unforeseen and they didn't
3:07know that was coming and it's a change
3:09in behavior then humans are like well
3:12this is freaky this is a bad move but
3:14then once they get used to it
3:15it always no one even seems to remember
3:18what the old one was like like can you
3:20think back to the old Instagram logo or
3:22like the old Facebook UI but no one even
3:25thinks about it but we need that first
3:26change happened you were like I don't I
3:29don't feel good about this well that's
3:31the same thing that's happening and the
3:34key to breaking through this thing and
3:35the key to getting what you want in life
3:38in achieving what you want is you've got
3:40to turn the hard things into not just
3:44habits but base instincts so what are
3:48base instincts so base instincts are
3:51things that like hard-coded in our DNA
3:54from from like millions of years that
3:57you know tell us what to do and how to
4:00function so I'll give you some examples
4:02of them like we have instincts in us for
4:06survival so if you ever get into a
4:09situation where it's like life
4:10threatening then you stop thinking
4:13you're conscious cognitive mind does not
4:16do anything it's just pure instinct it's
4:18coming from your subconscious and you
4:20have flight-or-fight and you know you
4:23just you know what to do and you just
4:24react in the moment and then afterwards
4:26you you think man I wasn't even thinking
4:28about that and I'm sure a lot of you
4:30have had this experience too if you have
4:32ever been in a car and driving and
4:35someone pulls out or someone swerves or
4:37something like that then your reaction
4:38is immediate and then afterwards you're
4:41like well I didn't even think about
4:43doing that you know that that move I
4:46just made it didn't process through my
4:48conscious mind and I didn't think about
4:50it it just happened
4:52alright that is base instinct that's
4:55something that's been practiced and
4:57repeated and ingrained into us so much
5:00that we don't have to think about it
5:02anymore and the secret to being good in
5:05anything is to operate on instincts
5:08instead of thinking like this is very
5:12this is kind of opposing and polarizing
5:15to what a lot of people think but
5:16thinking about doing something is often
5:19not the way to do it like I've I've read
5:22a lot about like pro athletes Pro
5:24business men Pro everyone and you know
5:27Michael Jordan one of the things in Kobe
5:29Bryant the things that they said were
5:31you know they had a lot in common
5:33and one thing that they both said was
5:35when you step onto the court you don't
5:37want to think if you're stopping to
5:39think about something it's too late
5:41alright you have to react way faster
5:44than that you you don't have time to
5:45think
5:46and same with Formula One racecar
5:48drivers and all of these people they
5:49don't have time to think and what we
5:51tend to believe ourselves is that you
5:55know we we control everything ourself
5:57with our conscious mind like oh we do
5:59what we want and we think about doing
6:01something then we do it and our
6:02conscious thought controls everything
6:04that we do but really your conscious
6:06thought controls I would say maybe 10%
6:09of what you actually do most of what you
6:12do is not what you actually control
6:16yourself to do it comes from your
6:18subconscious mind and if you don't
6:20believe me then why haven't you achieve
6:22your goals you know you know what you
6:24want to achieve you know what you have
6:27to do to get them but somehow when you
6:29go to do that action item or you go to
6:32do the work some emotion comes on
6:35you get distracted and you kind of ping
6:37off and then you come back and reflect
6:39on it later and you're like hey why
6:41didn't I do that and in this mode
6:44becomes default you know avoiding pain
6:47and if weeding the hard stuff becomes a
6:50default and so this happens to everybody
6:53and a perfect example I can give you of
6:56like you know base instincts is survival
6:59and you know that's probably one of the
7:01strongest instincts we've got another
7:02one is to is to procreate so you know if
7:07you're if you're born a male then you
7:10know that's one thing that we are all
7:12hardwired to do and if we weren't then
7:14the human race wouldn't be as large as
7:17it is today and if any animal wasn't
7:20hardwired to have instincts to procreate
7:23then that species wouldn't exist so
7:25these things are hard-coded in their
7:28like survival instincts and also the
7:33instinct to procreate and there's some
7:34other ones too but what you really want
7:37to do like you won't achieve massive
7:39success in life or business until you
7:41turn the hard things into base instincts
7:45because if something if you need to do
7:48something to be successful and that
7:49thing is really hard to do and it
7:52remains hard to do then you'll never be
7:54good at it because doing something hard
7:57that we don't like and that we have to
7:59think a lot about is to energy-consuming
8:02it's too draining and we're not going to
8:04do it we might be able to do it one day
8:06but we're not going to be able to do it
8:07consistently all the time without even
8:10thinking about it right so we need to
8:13turn these hard things that are
8:14necessary for us to achieve our goals
8:16into base instincts that happen
8:18automatically how do you do that you
8:20know it might sound great in theory like
8:22Sam or that makes total sense you know
8:24if only I could turn doing hard things
8:26into something so ingrained in me that
8:31it was just like fighting for survival
8:32right and you can do it and you have to
8:36go through some different stages to get
8:38there so the first thing that you want
8:41to do is identify what you have to do to
8:43get what you want you have to look at
8:45the end that you want to achieve but
8:48where do you want to be one
8:49from now where you want to be two three
8:51four five ten years from now you have to
8:54zoom out and kind of think where do I
8:56want to be and then you can reverse
8:58engineer back to today and then you can
9:01identify the things that you have to do
9:03along the way to get to where you want
9:05to go all right there's a pretty easy
9:07conscious exercise it happens from your
9:10logical rational mind and it's pretty
9:12easy to do but the hard part is doing it
9:15and sticking to it and doing it every
9:17day and this is where most people fall
9:19down and fail because pretty much
9:22everyone creates New Year's resolutions
9:24goals dreams all of those but barely
9:26anyone achieves them so we can tell from
9:30there that the hard part is doing it not
9:34the planning so once we've got the
9:35planning done and we go to do it and we
9:38feel like what I can guarantee you is
9:39going to happen is you're gonna go to
9:41you're gonna be really happy about your
9:43plan what's the dopamine is gonna be set
9:45off from doing that planning exercise
9:47because you're thinking about yourself
9:48in the future being rich successful
9:50happy all this stuff all right
9:52funny exercise but then you got to go
9:55and do the work and then you get you sit
9:57down at your computer and you start
9:58doing the work and your hope man this is
10:01hard man I don't know how to do this I'm
10:03not that confident at doing this and I
10:06haven't done this thing before this is
10:08harder than I thought all of these
10:09thoughts rushing through your mind and
10:11then the emotions are going to come on
10:13there's going to be this fear there's
10:16going to be like a pit in your stomach
10:17or a tightness in your chest
10:19anxiety and you're going to have these
10:22emotions kind of come on over you and
10:24they're going to start to wreak havoc
10:25with you because now you're uncertain
10:27rationally and emotionally you're
10:30anxious and frightened and so a lot of
10:33people they don't have the self-control
10:34or the awareness to deal with that and
10:37so what they do is they receive these
10:39emotions and logical processes and they
10:43think exit get out of this don't do it
10:46wrong thing to do right so they stop
10:49they retreat back to fine and then they
10:51stay there and they don't come back and
10:52they don't come back into the battle to
10:54get what they want so the first thing
10:56you need to do is just be totally aware
10:58that this is normal like when you do the
11:01plan that's easy
11:02but when you go to do the work know
11:04what's going to happen to you there
11:06isn't anybody who doesn't experience
11:08this when they go to do something
11:10totally foreign to them right you could
11:13take like Michael Jordan who was like
11:15the best in the world or Kobe Bryant
11:17like some of the best in the world at
11:18basketball but if you put them on a
11:20soccer field or in a 100-meter freestyle
11:23race in a pool
11:24they're gonna be totally freaking out
11:26uncertain and everything because that
11:28isn't instinct for them this is now in
11:31uncharted territory and whenever a human
11:34goes into total uncharted territory this
11:37happens so you need to understand that
11:39first of all it's not that you're
11:42different and that you're the only one
11:44who experiences this it's not that
11:46you're not good at this or you don't
11:47have the confidence or anything plain
11:49and simple it's just because you haven't
11:50done this thing before and it's normal
11:52so once you have that awareness and you
11:54know it's going to happen when it
11:55happens you can be like oh okay this is
11:57what Sam told me was going to happen and
11:58then you can kind of just sit there and
12:00think all right this is normal this is
12:02normal and then you need to push through
12:05it all right there's no getting around
12:08pushing through it and going through a
12:11bit of pain absolutely no way around it
12:13for you no human beings have innovated a
12:16lot of stuff we've like flowing traveled
12:18to the moon and stuff invented all sorts
12:20of crazy things but no human has figured
12:22out a way to get fit and healthy and
12:26everything without going to the gym and
12:29sweating a lot and so you know there's
12:32no people like a lot of people think
12:34there must be a way to get around the
12:35pain but there isn't at first you have
12:38to go straight through it you have to
12:40just look the monster dead on in the
12:42eyes feel the pain and just push through
12:45there's no other way trust me you can go
12:48to every seminar in the world you can
12:51read every self-help book in the world
12:53you could become a professor from Oxford
12:56University on self-improvement and
12:59emotions yet when you try to do
13:02something you haven't done before you're
13:04going to face the pain there's no way
13:06around it and this is a big thing for a
13:08lot of like motivational and like
13:11spiritual guru people and
13:14like don't get me wrong there's nothing
13:16wrong with with those people I actually
13:17quite like them because their positive
13:19thinking and it's a whole lot better
13:20than being negative thinking right but
13:22there's a big flaw in their philosophy
13:24in their worldview which is that you
13:27know everything should just flow and
13:30also everything should be like easy and
13:34natural and just come to you and it you
13:36should have attraction and abundance and
13:38all of this crap right and that you
13:40should just sit there meditate and think
13:41about happy thoughts and then you know
13:44money's gonna start flowing into your
13:45living room or into your letterbox
13:48they don't gonna happen all right you
13:50have to do the work to get the results
13:52it's better to have a positive mindset
13:54than a negative one but a positive
13:56mindset without action is just gonna
13:58make you a happy poor person and you
14:02know that that's all so you have to do
14:04the work that's the only way to get
14:06things done and the only way to do the
14:09work is to go through some pain and so
14:12you have to just look the monster in the
14:14eyes and just drive straight through
14:15that thing and get it done and here's
14:17the good news
14:18it's not going to be painful forever
14:20like it's only going to be painful like
14:23the most painful time is the first time
14:25like I can tell you that but I remember
14:27doing the first sales call I ever did oh
14:29my god like my emotions were going
14:32absolutely berserk and I'm pretty sure
14:34after that I had to like decompress in
14:37bed for like three hours like thinking
14:40back now I'm like what the hell was I
14:42doing was like a total emotional mess
14:45and totally irrational
14:47but it's because I'd never done it
14:48before and I'm an introverted person and
14:51I'm like I'm shy and I don't I'm not an
14:55outgoing person that just loves talking
14:57to people all the time so when I went to
14:58go and do something I'd never done
14:59before and talked to a stranger on the
15:01phone and tried to sell them something
15:02all sorts of havoc kicked in and so
15:07you've got to expect that tap in and
15:09push through it then the second time you
15:11do it it'll get a little bit easier then
15:13the third time easier again the fourth
15:15time easier again and if you do it
15:17enough times then it starts to get
15:20easier easier easier and then epic
15:23quite easy and when it becomes quite
15:25easy it becomes fun for you and then you
15:27actually like doing it and then when you
15:30go to do it you don't have to think
15:31about doing it as much or you don't have
15:33to worry about it you just kind of do it
15:34and that's when really doing a hard
15:37thing gets turned into a habit and it
15:41takes about like 30 days to really form
15:45a like the starting of a good habit so
15:50what I recommend people do is find the
15:52actions that you need to do every single
15:54day to get to where you want to go and
15:56then do them every day because what we
15:59do every day becomes like who we are
16:02they've become so ingrained in us that
16:04it becomes our habit the key is to do
16:07the things you need to do every single
16:08day so for a lot of entrepreneurs what I
16:11tell them to do is you needed two
16:13revenue generating activities every day
16:15what are those well that's things like
16:17generating leads so that might be
16:20posting on your Facebook page saying
16:23like making offers to people sending
16:25people cold emails growing your network
16:28on Facebook and LinkedIn messaging
16:29people they're contributing and Facebook
16:32groups and things and you know talking
16:35to people having conversations with
16:36people and then making them offers
16:38trying to get them on the phone for
16:39sales calls talking to them making them
16:42offers those are the revenue generating
16:44activities that really move the needle
16:45in business and you need to make doing
16:49those things if they can't just be all
16:51do them every Wednesday or I'll do them
16:53every second Wednesday the people who
16:55make those things kind of tasks that
16:57happen like not that frequent like that
17:00they're always painful for them to do so
17:03you need to start doing it every day and
17:05the best thing is to do it every day
17:07first thing in the morning because what
17:10we do every day first thing in the
17:11morning becomes probably the strongest
17:13habit that we have as a human so that's
17:16why you want to do that and you've got
17:18to stick to it for at least 30 days and
17:20I can promise you if you do something
17:22every day religiously for 30 days
17:25straight then it'll start to become more
17:27natural to you and it will become a
17:29habit and one thing you can do to really
17:32hack your brains psychology increase
17:35habits easier is I learned this from
17:38this book called the power of habit and
17:40it's buying some guy called his last
17:43name to do hook it might be James or
17:44Charles do something like that it's
17:46called the power of habit it's a good
17:47book and in the book I can boil it down
17:50into lakes into a 30-second sound bite
17:52so basically the way we have the way our
17:56brain forms habits is with three things
17:58a trigger an action and a reward so a
18:01trigger is just something that's that
18:03triggers us or signals us that all we
18:06need to take this action so a trigger it
18:09could be you know waking up first thing
18:11in the morning that's a trigger and
18:14another trigger could be like an alarm
18:16clock or 12 o'clock could mean could be
18:19the trigger for lunch it could be a time
18:20it could be you know the moment in the
18:23day or it could be a sound or an alarm
18:25or something like that right and a good
18:28experiment to think about this is like
18:30Pavlov's dogs and what they did is the
18:34scientist he and this is a really old
18:36experiment what he did is he would ring
18:39up he had a dog and he'd ring a bell and
18:41then he would feed the dog some food and
18:44he did that enough times and then
18:47eventually if he rang the bell and
18:49didn't give the dog the food the dog
18:51would just sit there like salivating
18:53like waiting for the food because the
18:55dog had associated that stimulus which
18:58was the bell to receiving food so you
19:02know the dog was starting to form a
19:03habit and that's what your animals
19:05around your house will do to they will
19:07have associated like triggers with
19:10certain things and when those triggers
19:12happen they will react in that certain
19:14way just kind of like when someone says
19:16your name like Sam you turn around and
19:18you're lucid it alright
19:19that's like a trigger and so if you want
19:21to create a habit you've got a thirst of
19:23all thing what's my trigger going to be
19:25like what is it going to be a time of
19:27the day is it going to what is it and
19:30I'm telling you the best thing you can
19:31use is just the first thing in the
19:33morning so like the people who go to the
19:35gym and have the most success with it
19:37they just go first thing in the morning
19:38because you just get it done with you
19:41want to try and move those big rocks
19:42first get it done and then you've got
19:44momentum for the rest of your day
19:46but after the trigger comes the action
19:49and the action is when you actually just
19:51do the thing
19:51so like first thing in the morning is
19:53the trigger action is going to the gym
19:55alright simple and then the reward is
19:58what you give yourself afterwards for
20:00completing the action because you want
20:03to give your brain their rewards so that
20:05it can associate oh this thing happens I
20:07do this I get that alright that's how it
20:11works and you want to give yourself like
20:13a little treat and it doesn't have to be
20:15extravagant or anything some examples
20:17like what I've used personally so after
20:21going to the gym like the thing that I
20:24think about is like my my morning
20:26smoothie and my coffee
20:27so my morning smoothie it tastes pretty
20:30damn good and the coffee does too and so
20:33the foot that my trigger is first thing
20:35in the morning I think alright first
20:36thing the morning gym it's a bit painful
20:37got to get it done but I want to get
20:39through that so I can get that reward
20:41the coffee in the smoothie and it
20:42becomes an ingrained habit over time and
20:44back in the day when I was when I had a
20:47lot of difficulty doing sales what I
20:49would do is my trigger was first thing
20:50in the morning so the first thing in the
20:52morning I would come to my desk open up
20:53my laptop and I would do the necessary
20:56tasks I had to do to generate sales and
20:59it was a little bit painful for me to do
21:00but afterwards what I'd do is I'd go to
21:03my favorite cafe and just sit there with
21:05an awesome view in the Sun for like
21:06thirty minutes and just drink a coffee
21:08that was my reward so think this right
21:11now trigger action reward what's the one
21:14thing that you need to do to get what
21:16you want
21:16identify that thing that's the action
21:19that's the thing that unlocks everything
21:21you want in life doing that thing so
21:24find out what that thing is and write it
21:27on a piece of paper and stick it around
21:29your entire house so that you don't
21:30forget because it really is the simple
21:32if you do that thing then you get
21:35everything that you want
21:36so making yourself aware of what that
21:38thing is and not forgetting it it's
21:41pretty damn important so plaster it
21:43everywhere so that you don't forget and
21:44then think what's the trigger going to
21:46be I recommend the first thing the
21:48morning and then what's your reward
21:49going to be maybe it's having you know a
21:52smoothie maybe it's a coffee maybe it's
21:55something else whatever it is write it
21:57down figure out what your trigger action
21:59reward pattern is and plaster that thing
22:01around your house so that you don't
22:02forget and then stick to it for at least
22:0430 days very important and what I
22:07recommend here is to just have a Google
22:09spreadsheet and just have day 1 2 3 4
22:12down like that and every day you get it
22:14done mark dun dun dun dun because what
22:18happens here is once you've done
22:20something for like 4 or 5 times and then
22:23you look at it and you're like yeah that
22:24looks awesome I've got that track record
22:26there and I can see it I can visualize
22:28it then you're like oh it would be too
22:30painful to not do this thing now because
22:32they don't have to go back to the start
22:33again and this is one of the main things
22:36why Alcoholics Anonymous is so
22:38successful at helping people with their
22:41alcohol addictions it's because they go
22:44to these meetups and they give people
22:45these little things like I don't know
22:47what they are but I've heard of them
22:48they're like a coin or a badge or
22:50something and it says how many days
22:52years or months a person has been sober
22:55for and you can imagine and actually
22:58when they do the meetings the first
22:59thing they say is what their name is and
23:01how long they've been sober for so they
23:03make it a thing like that because
23:05honestly when you track something and
23:08you gain momentum with it and you're
23:09aware of that thing all the time the
23:11more of a track record you have the more
23:14painful it will be for you to break that
23:16thing because as humans we're more
23:18motivated to avoid loss than we are to
23:23get gain alright so once you have
23:27something built up you want to fight
23:29like how not to miss that thing up and
23:31so you want to track your Google sheet
23:33like that and build up that momentum and
23:35just give it everything you've got to
23:37hit those 30 days I can promise you the
23:39first day will be the most painful the
23:41first week will be the most painful week
23:42and the first 30 days will be the most
23:45painful period of doing the thing ever
23:47but after that it becomes a habit but a
23:51habit is still not enough like the true
23:55killers in the true like the true
23:58masters of their game it doesn't matter
24:00what it is sports business anything
24:02they've honed these things so much that
24:06they've become something more than
24:07habit they've become base instincts
24:10because with a habit you still kind of
24:12have to think about it and it's still
24:15not an instinct you know a habit might
24:17be brushing your teeth and going to the
24:19gym but an instinct is like something
24:22like survival like fight-or-flight right
24:25and that an instinct is on another level
24:28than a habit because you know it doesn't
24:32matter what we do humans are hard-wired
24:33to fight for their life but you know not
24:36every human habits are that strong every
24:39habit kind of falls off every now and
24:40then even brushing your teeth going the
24:42German things that they're not they're
24:44not base instincts so the next level
24:46that you've got to take things to is
24:47base instinct and how do you do that
24:50well there's only really a few things
24:53the first one is practice but there's no
24:57other way to get good at anything I know
24:59a lot of people believe that like you're
25:02born into this world with these skills
25:04and these gifts and I can tell you that
25:06there's a lot of like Michael
25:08Jordan was not born good at basketball
25:10and he didn't know how to play
25:13basketball when he was born and he had
25:16to practice and learn to get good at it
25:18and it was practice that made him good
25:20and if you looked at the amount of time
25:22that Michael Jordan practiced it would
25:24have been more than everybody else so
25:26why was he better it's not some gift
25:29it's hours of practice he practice more
25:32than everyone else
25:33therefore he wins so practice is the
25:36answer to winning if you practice more
25:39than anybody else you will beat
25:40everybody else it's plain and simple
25:42just like that and I remember I was I
25:46read this book where the sky had devoted
25:48his entire life to finding out why like
25:52runners in Kenya were better than other
25:55runners from all around the world and a
25:57lot of people had like kind of had
26:00guessed at what this might be
26:01maybe it's the spirituality their
26:03religion maybe it's the altitude
26:05maybe it's like something in the water
26:08maybe it's their diet and their food or
26:09their culture right all sorts of stuff
26:11and so the skylight dedicated his life
26:13to researching it and trying to find out
26:15why and in the end he found out and he
26:18wrote this in his book he said that they
26:21just train longer and harder than
26:23everybody helps late they practice
26:26running more and when they practice they
26:28practice harder that's it nothing else
26:31no rules stuff just that and also Kobe
26:34Bryant
26:36that guy's beast and you want to watch
26:38his documentary it's called Moo's Kobe
26:41Bryant mirrors em you see it's an
26:42awesome documentary or like it but in
26:45there he said you know I wanted to be
26:47the best in the world and he thought
26:49well if I want to be the best in the
26:50world I just need to practice more than
26:51everyone else and to practice more than
26:53everyone else I am limited by time time
26:56is a huge restriction so he thought how
26:59can I squeeze more practice in in my day
27:01every day so he started looking at
27:04looking at it and he thought well if I
27:06wake up at like 3 or 4 a.m. in the
27:07morning I can do a practice session then
27:10and then I can kind of have a sleep kind
27:12of go back to beard and then have
27:14another session and then rest and relax
27:16maybe have a nap and then have another
27:17session then rest didn't have another
27:20session and he said most players we're
27:23getting in maybe one to two practice
27:25sessions a day and he got in three or
27:28four and a lot of players they would
27:31take a couple of days off each week he
27:33took like none and a lot of other
27:35players if they won like a game or a
27:38championship or something then they'd go
27:40out that night and celebrate and then
27:42the next day they'd probably relax and
27:43chill out and he didn't the day after he
27:47won he'd just be back in the gym for
27:49sessions so no you know there's no
27:53slowing down once you went back to it
27:55because otherwise someone's going to
27:57beat you and then even like offseasons
28:00you know a lot of athletes when the
28:02seasons off they kind of go back to
28:04their normal ways and they go back to
28:06their normal eating and they chill out
28:07they don't practice because they think
28:08I'll get back in shape when the seasons
28:10back on again not Michael Jordan and
28:13Kobe they practiced four times a day
28:16every day even in the offseason even
28:18when they won even when everyone was
28:20calling them the best in the world they
28:21still did it so practice makes perfect
28:24that saying is true and a lot of people
28:27I think they dismiss it because it
28:28sounds too simple but it is true and the
28:31only thing that separates people who are
28:33there from people
28:33here there's hours of practice and so
28:36you've got to practice to turn something
28:39into a base instinct and it doesn't
28:41matter how hard it is right now if you
28:44practice it enough and you do it enough
28:45times over a long enough period of time
28:47it will become a habit and then if you
28:50keep at it it will become an instinct
28:52and once it becomes an instinct that is
28:55when you're dangerous that's when you're
28:56powerful because you no longer have to
28:58think you know your subconscious mind
29:00controls most of what you actually do
29:02and if you don't believe me then try and
29:05stop your heart right now just pause and
29:09just think all right let's stop my heart
29:11let's trying to dare you can't do it all
29:13right and also like when you're asleep
29:16how are you breathing right when you're
29:19walking are you really telling every
29:21muscle in your league like oh like this
29:23muscle on the right side tweak a bit
29:25like put some pressure there lean that
29:28way lean that way lean back a bit move
29:30forward like imagine how many commands
29:32have to come from your brain to all of
29:34your different muscles and everything in
29:36your body to balance and walk and do all
29:38of that but you don't have to think
29:40about it just happens that's all
29:42controlled by your subconscious a lot of
29:44people need to think about this and when
29:47something's in your subconscious that's
29:49when it's like a base instinct and so
29:51when you do something enough and you
29:53practice something enough it starts to
29:55get programmed into your subconscious
29:56and then it starts to just happen
29:59automatically without you thinking about
30:00it because when when really good
30:03basketball players step on the court
30:04they're not thinking their mind is quiet
30:06there's nothing going through their mind
30:08at all and they just they just know what
30:11to do because it's all instinct and when
30:13the best stock traders make their
30:15decisions instinct they're not sitting
30:17down with a pen and paper and rationally
30:20thinking it's like instant and same with
30:24the best businessman to be salesman the
30:26best everyone they've worked on the
30:28things that were hard and they were hard
30:30for them to they turn them into habits
30:32and then they turn to those habits into
30:34instincts and that's what you need to do
30:36figure out the thing you need to do to
30:39get what you want in life make that
30:42thing know into you turn it into a habit
30:45by doing it for at least 30 days
30:47find your trigger action reward sequence
30:50to drill it into your brain and then
30:52stick at it until it becomes a habit and
30:56another habit sorry until it becomes an
30:59instinct and a lot of people they asked
31:02me Sam how come likes in your in your
31:04program consulting accelerator what
31:07separates people who make like zero from
31:10people who make six figures
31:11what separates people who make six
31:13figures from seven and what separates
31:15people who make seven figures from eight
31:16figures and I've looked at all sorts of
31:19variables to try and figure out what one
31:20variable really does determine this and
31:23I found out what it is
31:24it's strategy sessions so those are
31:27sales calls
31:28so if you just if I just find out how
31:32many strategy sessions somebody has done
31:34it is a true indicator of how successful
31:38they are and how much money they make
31:39and so I'll give you an example someone
31:42who doesn't have any clients and they're
31:44wondering why they're not successful
31:46they will have done most commonly zero
31:49stretch decisions and they're wondering
31:51why they're not successful it's
31:52ludicrous really if you don't do any
31:55sales calls you're not gonna get any
31:56clients but still they think it's
31:58something else and then you know someone
32:00might have done five calls and they
32:02don't have a claim well it's of course
32:04they've only done five you know most
32:06people to get there for this client they
32:08need to do around thirty calls some
32:10people get on their first pop some
32:11people get it with five ten but on
32:14average you need it or at least thirty
32:15and then to get good at something you
32:19need to do more than a hundred so to get
32:22really good at it you need to do more
32:23than 100 and the conversion rate that we
32:26look for is twenty percent so if we do a
32:28hundred calls we should close twenty of
32:30them into clients that's like a baseline
32:32and in order to get to that baseline you
32:35need to do at least a hundred calls to
32:36get there the first five might all be
32:38knows the first thirty might all be
32:40knows but once you've done more than one
32:42hundred you'll start to get up at that
32:43twenty percent conversion rate it's just
32:46practice sheer repetition and sheer
32:48practice and sheer consistency is what
32:51makes someone rich in business and it's
32:54this simple but everyone thinks it's all
32:56this other crap and makes it
32:57complicated alright I'm telling you this
32:59is as simple as it is and then someone
33:01who's making six figures right I can
33:04tell you that they'll be doing strategy
33:06sessions daily they'll probably be doing
33:08like 1 to 2 maybe 3 calls every day
33:10Monday to Friday alright and just
33:12because they're doing that that'll be
33:14the reason why they're making six
33:16figures
33:16what about seven figures this is where
33:19it gets interesting because we've got a
33:21lot of data now we've had we've got like
33:2313,000 customers I've been doing this
33:25for like five years and I have 25 people
33:28making seven figures and I have all of
33:30their data so I can look back at this
33:32data and really analyze it and see what
33:35goes on and I've never seen someone get
33:38to seven figures without doing at least
33:411,000 strategy sessions but most people
33:45who were the only people I know of that
33:47have got to seven figures they've all
33:49done more than a thousand strategy
33:50sessions alright and so if you want to
33:52get to seven figures just try to a
33:53thousand damn strategy sessions you want
33:56to get to six figures try and do at
33:57least one two three strategy sessions
33:59Monday to Friday you'll get there if you
34:01do that action and how you do that
34:03action all the time is by turning it
34:05into a habit with a trigger action
34:06reward sequence and then turning into an
34:08instinct and then what about like multi
34:11seven figures what about like two
34:13million year three million four million
34:14whoa it's just doing more strategy
34:17sessions
34:18Andrew argue one of my students when he
34:21got to seven figures he had done about a
34:23thousand strategy sessions then when he
34:25got to about three hundred grand a month
34:27which is about like 3.6 million a year
34:30he had done probably two thousand three
34:33thousand strategy sessions and now he's
34:35at eight figures which is like more than
34:37more than a million dollars a month and
34:39we've actually got two students at that
34:42level Lathan Fritz and enter argue and
34:44you know I think owls Consulting
34:47accelerators probably one of the only
34:48programs training programs where people
34:50actually get to eight figures like
34:52because eight figures is more than most
34:54gurus make so that's like it would be
34:57like a lot of my students make more than
35:00most groups all right there's funny
35:02thing I I quite often joke that my
35:04students students students make more
35:07than some gurus because some of my
35:09students student students may
35:10seven figures and it all happens with
35:13practice and repetition so how do they
35:15get to eight figures well eight figures
35:17is when you can no longer do enough
35:19strategy sessions yourself and they have
35:21to have hired teams so andrew has I
35:24think he has like six or seven sales
35:26reps and they're doing strategy sessions
35:28every day and that's how you get to that
35:30next level so the rule still applies
35:32it's still the same action to get the
35:35same result and you just take it to the
35:38max you can possibly do yourself and
35:40then you multiply yourself by hiring
35:43other people and you make them have the
35:46habits all right this is all it is this
35:48is all businesses finding out that one
35:50action that gets the result you want
35:53doing it religiously every day turning
35:55it into a new habit and then turning it
35:57into an instinct going nuts on that
36:00thing doing it all day every day being
36:02obsessed about it being obsessed about
36:05this thing to the point that people look
36:07at you and they think that you're a
36:08disturbed psychopath there's a good
36:11thing if you're doing the right thing
36:13all right
36:14most people think that obsessive and
36:17like really hungry successful people are
36:19like psychopathic or crazy or weird or
36:23something but that's because most people
36:25aren't very good at anything so of
36:27course people who aren't good at things
36:29are going to think that that's weird but
36:31once you become one of those people you
36:32think that the other people are weird so
36:34you know you want to obsess about that
36:37thing you need to do so much until it
36:40just it's all you ever think about it
36:42and all you ever do and when you do that
36:44you'll be amazing at what you do because
36:46Michael Jordan and Kobe they turned
36:48practicing into something that was just
36:52an obsession and the best artists the
36:55best photographers you know they do
36:57something so much until it pretty much
36:58becomes a part of them I'm sure you've
37:01ridden a bike before and learn to ride a
37:02bike at first when you get on that thing
37:04it's hard and you fall off and you have
37:06to think about doing all of the stuff
37:08and it's really confusing but then once
37:10you get the hang of it it becomes a
37:11little bit more natural and then once
37:13you've really got the hang of it you
37:15don't even think about it
37:16you're just lean you everything happens
37:18without you thinking that's how
37:20everything had
37:21you know we seem to understand it with a
37:23bike but we don't seem to understand it
37:25with business we seem to think that oh
37:28if I try to do something in business and
37:29I'm not good at it at first it means I
37:31suck at it and it must not have been a
37:33god-given gift to me at Birth madness
37:36it's just like riding a bike
37:37nobody gets on a bike at five years old
37:41having never ridden one before and just
37:42nails it never happens ever they have to
37:46practice they have to go through the
37:48learning process and no one gets good at
37:51it without practice either so just keep
37:53things simple and find out what you want
37:56in life reverse-engineer it figure out
37:58what that action is that you need to
37:59take to get what you want and then do it
38:02every day
38:03trigger action reward sequence plaster
38:05that thing next to your computer plaster
38:07on your wall put on your fridge put on
38:09your bathroom mirror so that you don't
38:11forget it and then put a goop get a
38:14Google sheet up on your computer track
38:16it every single day and stick at it
38:18every day for years until that thing
38:21becomes a base to instinct and you just
38:23annihilate all the competition and own
38:26what you do that's the path that's how
38:29you get there
38:30so go and get it done so if you've
