0:00I've always thought my physique wasn't
0:01too shabby, and that online PT didn't
0:03really need a six-pack because it's from
0:05the chest up. That was until recently in
0:07the middle of a Newton video campaign, I
0:09see a comment appear. What happened to
0:11bro's arms? Why are they so small? I
0:13wasn't affected by this, of course. I've
0:15got a thick skin, and I'm sure it was
0:16just the camera angle, or you know,
0:18those lenses that they use, the wide
0:20ones that can make you look less jacked.
0:23But in a bid to prove this guy wrong, I
0:24took to the internet to try and find the
0:26world's best online coaching app to
0:28increase my jacked factor. Who else of
0:30the YouTube OGs has got the best
0:32training app out there? And why would
0:33someone part with money to be given
0:35exercises that they could get from
0:37ChatGPT? Well, in this video, we're
0:39going to find out. So, right, the
0:41secret's out. I need to get jacked. I
0:43need to hire a good coach. I need to use
0:45a good coaching app. So, we're thinking
0:46Mike Thurston, Mike Israetel, Adam
0:49Sullivan. Now, some of you are going to
0:50be like, "Who's that?" He's an Aussie
0:51PT, and he's making millions. He used to
0:54be a poor man's James Smith. Now, I'm a
0:55poor man's Adam Sullivan. Don't laugh.
0:57How are we going to rate them, Declan?
0:59Well, I've got it here. I've wrote it
1:00down. Price, how much they charging us
1:03for using this app. Usability, how
1:05complex are the systems? Then the most
1:07important, the jacked factor. How jacked
1:09is the app going to give us? Then we're
1:10going to give them an overall score, out
1:12of 10. I've never used any of these
1:13other apps before. Who do we start with?
1:15>> Mike Israetel.
1:16>> Shortest first.
1:17Shortest first, you dirty dog. Let's go.
1:20Okay, [clears throat] sports fans. When
1:22I think about jacked personal trainers,
1:24I think about Mike Israetel. Build more
1:26muscle, get jacked. Yes. How do I begin?
1:29Right, annual membership, $24.99 a
1:31month. Not bad. 199 build every 6
1:33months. Oh, build monthly. This is what
1:35we want. So, $35 a month. Now, do you
1:38know, risk-free 30-day money-back
1:39guarantee. We could be a dog here,
1:41Declan. Oh, I could take this mic off,
1:42couldn't I? I don't need this anymore.
1:44We could be a dog here, Declan. We could
1:46sign up and ask for our money back, but
1:47I'm not going to do that. Straight up,
1:49straight in, no fingering, Declan.
1:52Saying, "Give me your money." It's not
1:53ask me anything. Right, do Do do Apple
1:55Pay for this, or is that going to make
1:57it so much more difficult? Tell you
1:58what, this guy on the business card.
2:00Feels completely fine to pay another
2:01personal trainer for
2:03coaching. Now, do you know another
2:04reason why we're going with Big Mike
2:06Israetel? Because they sponsor a podcast
2:08called Modern Wisdom. If you enter your
2:10link to your purchase that. Trekin Chris
2:12is natty. Small frame, good insertions.
2:14Let's have a look at this. All I know is
2:16this guy uses RP app. So, I'm just
2:19expecting to wake up looking like this
2:21guy here. He's got a good chest for
2:22someone natty. Welcome to the
2:24hypertrophy sphere app. Start training.
2:26Now, let me tell you the first thing I'm
2:28doing here. What is your age? 36, male.
2:31Hmm, no option for non-binary. Noted.
2:34How many years you've been resistance
2:35training? More than 4 years. How did you
2:37hear about us? A friend, Chris
2:39Williamson. Doesn't shut up about it.
2:40Preferred exercise type. Okay, plan a
2:43mesocycle. Start with a template, meso
2:45builder, start from scratch. Let's go
2:48muscle group priorities. 3 days a week.
2:50Oh, I should have seen it a bit complex.
2:52Start with a template. 3 days a week
2:54split. Let's go whole body. Chris seems
2:569 sets. Is that what that is? 3 6 9 12
2:5915 18 21 24. This is 27 sets. Okay.
3:03Looks fairly chest triceps back biceps
3:06shoulders. So, this is going to be like
3:07a bit of a upper body with a bit of
3:09squats deadlifts legs. So, we've got
3:11like an upper lower lower upper lower.
3:13Okay, create mesocycle. Stage one in
3:16kilograms, obviously. Why wouldn't you
3:18use kilograms? People out there that use
3:20pounds. 1 L weighs 1 kg. Just why would
3:22you [ __ ] with that? Same reason I do
3:24think kilometers is about metric than
3:25miles. And don't get me started
3:27Fahrenheit versus Celsius. You make me
3:29sick. 0 freezing 100 boiling. Why would
3:32you [ __ ] around with that? I just don't
3:33get it. Enter body weight to begin. 96.
3:36Okay, two reps in reserve. I like this.
3:38Dips, two reps in reserve. Okay, so
3:40there's only quite conservative reps
3:43here. Now, reps in reserve, some people
3:45don't realize this. RPE and reps in
3:47reserve kind of they're they're the
3:48same. So, RPE 9 would be one rep in
3:50reserve. RPE 8 would be two reps in
3:52reserve. So, everything here is done on
3:54rate of perceived exertion. It's quite
3:55good that actually. I I do rate that.
3:57Going to RIR means that you don't have
3:59to program someone the amount of weight
4:00that they need. It's on their
4:02perception. So, based on their physical
4:03ability, they get to determine what that
4:05looks like. By the way, if you haven't
4:06tried New Tonik, there's a link in the
4:08description. And if you don't love it,
4:09I'll pay for it. And that means you can
4:10take the piss for that. You could buy a
4:11case and go, "Yeah, I don't like the
4:12taste." and I'll give you your money
4:13back. People do. Okay, cool. So, this is
4:15pretty good. Could give this a little
4:16go. Love that. Now, what's this like
4:18getting it on mobile? So, here I am. I'm
4:20going to download the app. Double tap
4:21there. Sign in with the email. Is there
4:23another way I can log in? Sign in with
4:25the password. I don't have a password.
4:27That's a bit annoying that I can't seem
4:29to log in. Forgot password. I'm in.
4:31Okay, it's pretty good. So, then suppose
4:33I put my reps in. Right, here we go,
4:35Declan. We're going to go downstairs and
4:37we're going to do our first reps and
4:38sets. So, here we go. My kitchen towel,
4:40RP strength. Whack out one. First of
4:42all, two reps in reserve, press-ups or
4:44push-ups. Do you call it a push-up or
4:46press-up? What's the difference between
4:47a press-up and a push-up? Cuz you're
4:48pushing up, man. You got to push
4:50yourself up. You're not pressing
4:51yourself. Okay. Joel, I'm pretty
4:53deconditioned, Declan. Let's get into
4:55it. Oh, no warm-up. Do you have a
4:57certain depth you've got to go to?
5:00I need to a time lapse this.
5:04>> [snorts]
5:04>> Think 35.
5:0635 is a good amount there.
5:08>> [sighs]
5:09>> Just going to log that.
5:1135. Is there a rest period here? Hmm.
5:14So, no notable rest period given. Rather
5:16jacked. Well, that obviously has nothing
5:19to do with the fact that I'm now on TRT.
5:21If you do want to get your blood work
5:22checked, there'll be a link in the
5:23description below. I've got to pretend
5:24I'm not out of breath though. Been on
5:25TRT like a year and a half. Been amazing
5:27for my training. I wouldn't say the
5:29strength increases are that crazy
5:30because I've blasted steroids before.
5:32Take about 120, 130 mg a week. But
5:35again, people have really got annoyed
5:37with the fact that I've been public
5:39about starting TRT. But if you get your
5:40blood test done, you get a discount on
5:42the one with the link in the
5:44description. Either your test is fine or
5:45it's not. If it's not, you can seek
5:47treatment or look for natural ways to
5:50increase your free test. Only people
5:52that get TRT, people that qualify for
5:54it, want it and need it. So, I don't
5:56understand how that makes me a villain.
5:59Yeah, I've pretty going to reps in
6:01reserves actually.
6:02>> Give you a rest or not?
6:03>> No, there's no rest on that. That's the
6:04only annoying thing. Use ability. Sorry,
6:06Mike Israetel.
6:07>> Thank you, Deano.
6:13>> Bit deconditioned, as you know. Pulled
6:15my back last week doing nothing. Didn't
6:17even do anything with it to be pulled.
6:18Here we go. Feedback. Joint pain, none.
6:21Chest pump, oh. I would actually say the
6:23chest pump is low cuz it's all doubts.
6:26Now, some people are going to be like,
6:27"Oh, if you did full range of motion."
6:28Shut up. He didn't say full range motion
6:31strict push-up. Yeah, he's not really
6:32giving me much description at all. He's
6:34actually all right. Chest volume. How
6:35was the volume of work? Yeah, push my
6:37limits. Okay, dips. Triceps focused.
6:40Triceps focused. So, I can only assume
6:42should move the playpen.
6:47Well, you don't have a playpen in your
6:48own gym. If it's triceps focused, I
6:50assume that would mean keeping a bit of
6:52an upright posture. All right, let's see
6:53if there Oh, there's a video here. Hold
6:54on. So, those elbows bend as much as
6:56possible. Notice that Max is not leaning
6:59forward at all.
7:00>> Oh, Mike Israetel looks different to me.
7:02>> It is pure triceps. The more forward you
7:05lean,
7:05>> Um not a lot
7:07I can do with that. We haven't got the
7:09assisted machine here because I'm not
7:12that rich.
7:13You know what? You think I'm going to
7:14have? Also, who has assisted machines in
7:17their gym? All right.
7:182 R I R Declan.
7:21This is going to be a pretty good
7:21workout. I'm going to go as upright as
7:23possible.
7:24Brief fatigue. How many do you reckon I
7:25got in here? 10? Is that it? Probably
7:28Look, is it called RP range of motion
7:31app or is it called RP hypertrophy app?
7:33There is a correlation between the two.
7:35But look, at the end of the day, none of
7:37your reps have got to be proper. They've
7:39just got to be good. The thing is, mate,
7:41if you want me to lock out a you're
7:42asking me to take tension off the
7:43triceps, you know? That's what I'm
7:45saying. You know, horses, when they
7:46sleep, they lock their legs out, so they
7:48can fall asleep standing up. Do you know
7:50that?
7:50>> Oh, I'll go I'll go I'll go range that
7:52way. It won't It won't be like this, but
7:55I don't really lock out at the top.
7:57>> Yeah, good man. All right.
8:08Was that an R Was that a two R L? It's
8:10close enough. How to rest before your
8:12next set. God, [ __ ] me, it's an essay.
8:14After every set, you should be long You
8:16should rest long enough to no longer be
8:17breathing super heavy,
8:19feel mentally strong and ready for
8:20another hard set, not be crampy in a
8:22supporting muscle. Hmm, very subjective.
8:25Sometimes I think I'd just rather it
8:26said, "All right, take 60. Take 120."
8:29Because then, you know, maybe like a
8:30little bar that goes across the app.
8:31Could go quite nice. Not going to lie.
8:33Uh I've always been told that RP is a
8:36web app, so whether or not it still is,
8:38I don't know. But for me, I would have
8:39no idea if this was an app or web app. I
8:41still don't. Do you know what? I'd say
8:43it's pretty basic, but what else do you
8:45need? What else do you need, Declan?
8:47Here, I'll do another set.
8:49>> How was the depth? Acceptable.
8:50>> The straightness wasn't there, but
8:51>> Yeah, my straightness is apparent
8:53everywhere else in my life. All right, I
8:55don't need it in my dips. I saw a clip
8:57this morning of a guy He's [ __ ] a man
8:59in a porno, but he's saying he can only
9:02do that cuz of how straight he is. No,
9:03no, no, he's being interviewed on a
9:04podcast. I'll show you.
9:06Cuz I've definitely sent it to the boys,
9:08haven't I?
9:08>> Um
9:09>> Can you
9:10>> Dick in a geezer. It's gay. I don't care
9:11what you say. Don't care if you've got a
9:12dick in
9:13>> What you're saying then? I'm gay.
9:14>> Yeah. That's it. Look it up in a
9:15dictionary, mate. You're lucky I'm on
9:16[ __ ] crutches, mate.
9:18>> Well, you're lucky you're on crutches.
9:19It's [ __ ] made you win by now. I
9:21think, mate.
9:21>> Yeah, yeah, yeah.
9:30>> No, no, no, but I'm not gay, but I'm
9:32being paid to do gay stuff. But I'm not
9:35straight.
9:38>> If I came in and said, "Declan, [ __ ] a
9:40man last night." And you went, "You
9:42gay?" I'd guess, "No."
9:44You can't pay me to do gay stuff. Would
9:46you still think I'm straight?" Or you
9:47got to go one way or the other.
9:49It's like Green's party or Reform,
9:50right? One or the other. Um you're
9:53either so straight you can do gay stuff
9:55or you gay.
9:56>> The history is there's nothing I can do
9:57about it. If you [clears throat] were
9:58gay, you [ __ ] jujitsu on me on fire.
10:00>> Yeah, no. They
10:01They do say if one man can take you
10:03down, two can rape you.
10:05Um
10:06in jujitsu terms for men. I'm not joking
10:08about that. Being funny.
10:09Um but would that just be to know? If I
10:12was gay, fine. But if you're doing gay
10:13things to prove your straightness,
10:15there's a double standard. That's what
10:16I'm saying.
10:18Ooh, it's
10:222 minutes later. Yeah, that's it. Now,
10:24that's it, right? RP, going to log that
10:27now. Now, 15. Some people going to be
10:29like, "I'm going to do it like this." No
10:31joint pain, moderate pump, tricep volume
10:34just right. So, I wonder if those inputs
10:36then change what you get the next time.
10:39Very interesting. Bent over row,
10:40dumbbell curls, bent over shrug, split
10:42squat. My one gripe here, you're a
10:44qualified PT as well. You can go from
10:46upper body to split squat to deadlift.
10:48Me personally, I like to program the
10:50most difficult thing first. And then
10:52just end in order. Unless we look at the
10:55calisthenic stuff as a potential body
10:58weight warm up, then you wouldn't go
10:59into bent over dumbbell curls. If it was
11:01me, I'd want to do the split squat and
11:03the deadlift first, get the jelly legs,
11:05and go into the upper body stuff
11:06afterwards. Okay, let's get into it. 35
11:09USD a month. What do you think of that
11:10for price? Out of 10.
11:12>> It's a little bit on the pricey side.
11:14>> For what is a
11:16template, the app's not bad. Let's give
11:18it a five out of 10. Usability, six out
11:21of 10. All right, Declan coming in
11:24ruthless. Jack's factor. But you know
11:26what? The fact that it's asking for
11:28feedback at the end, maybe changing some
11:31stuff. Uh the fact that just working to
11:33RIR, not just going do 4x8 because
11:36there's a lot of volume, I reckon I'm
11:37going to give it an eight. And someone
11:39goes, "Why is it not higher?" Cuz it's a
11:40template. Could have asked me a few more
11:42questions. Could have said, "Are you a
11:43machine?" Yes. "Are you intimidating?"
11:46Two ticks. "Do you do gay porn to prove
11:48your straightness?"
11:50All in all, could be more prolonged use
11:52if it was cheaper cuz that could be a
11:54$10 a month plan. If for $10, it'd be an
11:57eight out of 10. But for 35 to follow a
11:59template, does feel a little bit steep.
12:01So, in my past life's opinion, RP 6.5.
12:05Bash. Let's go ask for a refund. Who
12:07next? Adam. Adam,
12:10you're next.
12:12All right, we're good. Let's set.
12:13Next up on the list, Adam Sullivan.
12:16Who's this geezer right here? Now, worth
12:18stating, if you don't know, it's
12:20probably cuz you're not in Australia.
12:21Adam is probably one of the most
12:23successful entrepreneurs, as far as
12:24brand, I would say. Now, annoyingly, all
12:28I wanted was a training program, but $72
12:31or $95. So, we're going to go for the
12:32old $95 per week. Okay, build weekly. I
12:35quite like that actually. I had a
12:36feeling when we were going to get
12:37through this, going to get through this,
12:39that it was going to be like, "Cool,
12:41we're going to charge you for [ __ ]
12:42whatever." Now, I don't mind putting
12:44money in his pocket because Adam is one
12:47of the most generous people online. I
12:49was out with him on a night out and he
12:51tipped a Uber driver $1,000. No cameras,
12:53no, "Hey bro, record this." Just did it
12:55cuz he's a [ __ ] nutter. Like, I I
12:57like to imagine I'm the type of mate
12:59that's always sneaking away to to get
13:01the bill. I'm in Ibiza and I turn around
13:03and Adam's there in the corner. "I've
13:05already paid it, brother." So, for that
13:06reason, have my $95. Keep it, you dog.
13:09Okay, I've got an email. You're
13:11officially in.
13:13Your custom plan is being built right
13:15now. I've never told you anything about
13:16it, you cheeky dogs. Okay, here we go.
13:18james@newtonic.com.
13:21All right, James Smith, male. It's just
13:25an onboarding process now. Oh god. No.
13:28No, there's [ __ ] lot of forms here.
13:30Guys, a lot of forms here, mate. This is
13:32like writing a book. I don't know if I
13:34can do all of this. No. Adam bro, I need
13:37a way to skip this. I beg. Oh my good
13:39god. All right, so we're in the app.
13:41Meal plan, shopping lists, recipes. Are
13:43these like cool? This looks pretty good.
13:45Three layer chicken sandwich, quarter
13:47pounder and chips. Where do I get a
13:48training program from? Jesus. I I'm not
13:51sure what I'm doing here, bro. Maybe we
13:53got to come back in a in a few days to
13:55get a training program. Tell you what,
13:56we'll we'll come back to Adam. Next up,
13:59Mike Thurston. Friend of mine, jacked
14:01dude. Great guy, but is the app great?
14:04Well, let me tell you this, there's no
14:05friends in business. Let's get into it.
14:07All right, my dyslexic friend that can't
14:09spell thirst. That's a joke. Okay,
14:11getting into the old app store. I've no
14:13idea on price point. All I know is that
14:15if I download this app, there is little
14:18to no chance I will look like Mike
14:20Thurston. And that is because he is
14:21taking
14:23so much care with his physique. You
14:25know, I've I've pressed him about it.
14:27I've even seen his blood work. Now,
14:28what's crazy is his blood work, his free
14:30T isn't even that high, which makes it
14:32almost more believable cuz if he was
14:33lying, he probably would have sent like
14:35high test scores. It would it would at
14:36least make sense. Sign up, got PTSD from
14:39Adam's app. James Smith. By the way,
14:41Adam's app does get incredible results.
14:44Probably people lose the weight from the
14:45amount of time they spend not eating
14:47filling out all of those forms. Okay,
14:49monthly £17.99.
14:51Okay. Wow, that is that's fine. Cancel
14:54anytime. £17.99, I was expecting more
14:57expensive from old Thurston. 60p a day.
15:00I feel like I'm already set. Select your
15:01sex. Yes, please. Gym, three times a
15:04week. Full body. I must say, the the the
15:08fact I could get on this so easy, I'm a
15:10fan of that. That was fast. Let's go
15:12strength and symmetry. Generating plan.
15:14Mike Thurston, I must say, sir, this is
15:16bloody wonderful. Weight, 96 kg. Height,
15:21let's go 6 ft. Date of birth, it's crazy
15:24to think that people are born in 2008.
15:26How active are you? Very active. What's
15:28your goal? Maintain weight. Next. Nice
15:30little disclaimer in there. Generating
15:31meal plan. This all moves bloody quick,
15:33I must say. Monthly check-in.
15:35Consistency streak. Okay, now let's see
15:38how difficult it is for me to cancel.
15:42Okay, very easy to cancel a
15:43subscription, which is something I do
15:45like. Tell you one thing, I've trained
15:47with Mike Thurston and he knows his
15:49[ __ ] He's very knowledgeable. Okay,
15:51let's let's get down into it, Declan,
15:53you know? Let's get down into it. Okay,
15:55so now Mike Thurston, let's see where
15:57you're at. So, I reckon we start with
15:58the incline barbell bench press. So,
16:00really what I like at the top, little
16:02timer. Little timer. Rest period. It's
16:04not going to get away from myself there.
16:05Little button there. Looks lovely. Okay.
16:08Oh, yeah, [ __ ] yeah, look at that. What
16:10am I You can see the muscles in motion.
16:11You don't need an anatomy lesson with
16:13that guy doing that. Perfect form. But,
16:15of course he's got perfect form. It's
16:17what he does. You know what I mean? If
16:18you and I did that for a living, of
16:20course we'd look better. We've got
16:21actual real jobs, unlike Mike, looks
16:23amazing, Thurston. If he is natty, we
16:26should study him. I'm I'm 50/50. I was I
16:28saw him last time I was in Dubai. And
16:30you probably think he just looks good on
16:31camera. He looks the exact same in real
16:32life. But, I almost feel like if he was
16:34on TRT, he should be making that [ __ ]
16:36He He just do a TRT sponsorship.
16:39Generational wealth. I think about it at
16:41night. Now, what's good here? We've got
16:43tempo. We've got tempo. Time for the
16:45muscle to transition between the
16:46shortened position and lengthened
16:47position. Time spent in the lengthened
16:49position. Time to transition to
16:50lengthened and shortened. Time spent in
16:52the rest. Now, the four digits for that,
16:55you don't see many people in the new
16:57school talk about that that much. 2010.
17:00So, one, two, no rest, extend, one, no
17:05rest, boom. So, it's pretty much a one,
17:07two, one, zero. One, two, one, zero. I'm
17:11not counting the zero because there is
17:12no pause. Six reps, six reps, six reps.
17:16Then I'll put the the weight in. Oh.
17:18this is weight in pounds. Let's see if
17:19we can fix this direction. Maybe cuz
17:21who's lifting in pounds? Let's end the
17:23session. Surely there's a settings.
17:25Surely. I mean, blue 20, red 25, yellow
17:2915, green 10. Who thought, "Hey man,
17:32let's make a blue plate in the gym and
17:34we'll make it 44 lbs." Incline barbell
17:38bench press. 3 by 6.
17:41Oh, it's my first weight session in 8
17:43days. Probably pretty fatigued from all
17:45them dips and press-ups, but trying to
17:48hear my theory, by the way. There's a
17:50theory that flat bench is bad for you
17:53and this is why it is. So, when we have
17:56our shoulder blades and we're about to
17:58bench press, it's important that we set
18:00our scaps and to set them, we want to
18:02bring them down and in, right? Now,
18:05rather than telling you to move your
18:06scapula, if I tell someone to extend
18:08their back, the scaps naturally go into
18:10position. Now, if I want to take your
18:11scaps out of position to a bad position,
18:13I just round through the front. It's
18:14impossible to have forward posture and
18:17have scaps back and down. So, in
18:19essence, every time we can arch our
18:21back, we can set our scaps properly
18:23benching. Now, every incline stage on
18:26the bench, donk donk donk donk donk,
18:28people extend their back to bench press.
18:31They just do it. A lot of the time it's
18:33because they're lifting very heavy and
18:35to extend allows them to move more into
18:38a horizontal plane. There was some [ __ ]
18:39on the internet not so long ago who was
18:41trying to have a go at people for doing
18:42shoulder press with an extension in
18:44their back. He was saying they were
18:45bench pressing it, but he's a [ __ ]
18:47So, when it comes to flat bench, I
18:49believe that the likelihood of someone
18:52losing that arch is heightened. Whether
18:54you go feet on the bench, which I do, I
18:56know it's not proper, but when I had
18:58hernia surgery, I did this. I just stick
19:00like it now. It's very easy for people
19:01to have a flat back. It's very difficult
19:04if you don't set up properly, aka
19:06putting your feet under the bench,
19:07bringing yourself down and having that
19:08tension, being curved over. I think that
19:11flat bench is just the most likely
19:13scenario of someone to lose that
19:16extension in the spine aka setting the
19:18scaps is something you have to
19:20proactively do in flat. In all the other
19:23inclines, it's something that just
19:24happens. That makes sense. People go set
19:26your scaps, just extend your upper back.
19:28Sorry. We use the blue barbell.
19:30Joe, I've actually got a bit of a sore
19:32wrist. Don't mind that.
19:34Also, I've just had eight days of
19:36training. I feel more sore than I did
19:39before. See it in feet up.
19:42Ever since the hernia surgery.
19:46It's just my happy place now.
19:48So far, I'd say Mike Thurston's probably
19:50got the best app. It's the one that's
19:52been easy to join. I think the price is
19:54really good.
19:55>> £17. Probably like $30 or $32. I know
19:58Mike's a good coach. I know his app
20:00might be better than mine. Oops.
20:01[clears throat]
20:04I haven't done incline in bloody ages,
20:05mate.
20:06Now, don't know about you, Zackin.
20:08But being the alpha male I am, you can
20:11warm up with the bar, then you have to
20:12go straight to 60. Know about this? Put
20:14those greens on here for a warm-up set.
20:16Beta. That is cocking behavior. The type
20:19of people that warm up with these,
20:21unless you're Jack's fit, the type of
20:22people that like to watch their misses
20:25get smashed in
20:27by Jason Love. Even if it means ripping
20:29a pec. Even if it means tearing
20:33a muscle, you do it for optics. The same
20:36way that I might go from here to 80 and
20:38put the green plates on. But when going
20:39from 80 to 100, don't put two green
20:42plates on. You take a green off and you
20:43put another blue one. That is man code,
20:46bro code. Welcome to the jungle. And
20:48when the lion's hungry, he eats. What we
20:50saying?
20:55Oh, [ __ ] Tempo. Hold on. Sorry.
20:581
20:592
21:003
21:011
21:022
21:033
21:06I'm so weak. Don't know what I've done
21:07to my wrist. Same way I've injured my
21:09back without knowing what I've done.
21:11Injured my wrist without knowing what
21:13I've done. Suspicious since the right
21:15wrist, hey. Oh. We can go over here.
21:17Wait. 60. Is that one? Track reps. This
21:21is quite nice. What's the next step up
21:23from 60? Can you imagine like Oh, I'm
21:26going to go up a weight. Let me grab a 5
21:27kg. Huh? Good Not a good weight. Good
21:30weight to to move up. Again, it's better
21:33that I die under the bar. Drop it on my
21:35face. Go suicide grip. Whatever it is.
21:38Be a man. Go up properly. Die under the
21:40barbell. Your mate's like a massive Mike
21:42Thurston fan, are they? Like, you reckon
21:44he'd up gay sex for the movement no
21:45strength? Be fair, there are men out
21:46there that sometimes perk the old
21:48sexuality. You just think, you know, I'm
21:50appreciative of their
21:52aesthetics. Do you reckon Mike's
21:53natural? Have you met him?
21:54>> Yeah.
21:55>> You met him in Dubai?
21:55>> Yeah. If there was anyone to look like
21:57that and be natural, it would be him.
21:58>> But why do you say it would be him?
22:00Because he's a It'd be the perfect
22:01cover-up.
22:06I've got to get dexterity to pick things
22:07up with my feet. All right. Do you know
22:08what I should have to do now? I should
22:09have to gee myself up for this, right?
22:12So people can clip this again. Still in
22:13that strong, you know. Not in that
22:15strong. Shut up.
22:27Why am I so
22:28Why am I so weak at fun?
22:32Go to 100. Stick at that.
22:34Okay. Weight AE track reps. I do like
22:37the way the app looks here. Working
22:39time. Go back into my wrist there. All
22:41right. So as we're waiting for that,
22:42Mike Thurston value 8.5. 8.5. I think
22:47that's fair. Usability, [ __ ] I think
22:49it's 8.5 again, you know. Jacked factor,
22:52could have given him an eight. You
22:53should have given him a nine. All right.
22:54[ __ ] hell.
22:55It's got to be [ __ ] 8.75.
22:59EBT
23:005.5.
23:02>> [snorts]
23:02>> TBC. Wait to see what the email back
23:04from his customer support says because I
23:05think on their customer Let's have a
23:07look actually. Okay, actually, we
23:09processed your cancellation as
23:10requested. We've also refunded the $95
23:12payment since this was requested before
23:14you received your first set of plans.
23:15Please let us know if you have any
23:16questions at all. Savana. They're onto
23:18us. All right, let's just say that you
23:20need to give EBT maybe a bit of time. Do
23:22you know what? The fact that they've
23:23refunded I will be honest, it was a
23:25little bit difficult to get out.
23:27However, within within an hour, they've
23:29come back fully refunded. I didn't even
23:31ask for a refund. Credit to EBT there.
23:33Um do you know what I think it is? They
23:35take a lot of information. They must
23:37want to give you like a bespoke plan.
23:38Maybe this from a nutrition standpoint
23:41is just not right for this set of tests.
23:43This is about getting jacked. This is
23:45about getting want. I don't need help
23:46with my food. Look at me. I'm glowing.
23:48So, we're going to remove EBT from here.
23:51And actually, do you know what? I'm a
23:52little bit gutted I didn't get to give
23:53him $95 because even in Ibiza, I'd drink
23:57him like 15 mates. They're my mates. I
23:59look over the little weasels in the
24:01corner going, "I've already paid it,
24:02brother. Here you go." Mike Thurston,
24:04fair play, mate. Fair play. All right.
24:07So, the next app
24:09it's not going to be fair if I review it
24:10cuz it's my app. So, you're going to be
24:12reviewing it. You're going to be doing
24:14the review. So, let's get into it. All
24:16right. All right, so you got to look at
24:17this. Okay. Maybe have a look at the
24:19pricing plans to begin with. Membership
24:21plans. Free. Start free trial. So,
24:24training I might start with a free
24:26trial. Okay. James Smith Academy.
24:28Download.
24:29>> And you can be honest.
24:30>> I will be. Okay, cool. So, the interface
24:32looks nice and simple. Have you been in
24:35the app before?
24:36>> Yeah.
24:36>> Oh, sick. Get started advanced. Workouts
24:38day one.
24:39>> Now, Decklin, one thing I want to point
24:40out is you've not paid anything.
24:42>> I have not.
24:43>> So, now, that program you got for free
24:44back in the day, the model is if you go
24:46back to the page on here. Um so, you're
24:48now on a free plan and you've got your
24:50free workout that they gave you.
24:51>> So, theoretically, I could stick with
24:53this forever.
24:53>> Yeah.
24:54>> Not pay you a cent and get good
24:55workouts. Okay.
24:56>> And then, if you wanted to upgrade, you
24:58still can.
24:59>> And then, I just pay a once-off fee.
25:00>> 30 pounds.
25:01>> Okay. Should we give this workout a go,
25:02then?
25:03>> Yeah, we'll give it a go. Have a little
25:04look around the app. Have a Talk me
25:06through some of the features, the things
25:07you can
25:07>> Okay. Set Start your workout weeks.
25:09We'll do that downstairs.
25:10>> Cool. Um okay. Do you have a video of
25:12you doing the workout as well, or is it
25:14just the Okay, cool. Yep.
25:15>> Have a look at the other like momentum
25:16scores and stuff.
25:17>> Okay. I said got rest, reps. Can I put
25:20in my weight here? Yes, I can. Cool. Um
25:22is there a video each one I can press
25:24that? Okay.
25:25>> Yep. The UI is a bit more simple than
25:26the first app, but it's easy to read,
25:28easy to understand.
25:29>> Then, if you click off that for a sec,
25:31and you click on the one, so say that
25:33this is the one.
25:33>> Yep. You can have one up drop
25:34>> set, left side, right side.
25:36>> I like that. Yep, cool.
25:37>> Now, down at the bottom, you've got your
25:39coach chat.
25:39>> Okay.
25:40>> So, if you wanted coach support, someone
25:42to talk to, that's what you would pay
25:44for.
25:44>> Okay. So, on the free plan, I can't
25:46message these guys, but if I upgrade to
25:49$304
25:50>> for 4 months.
25:50>> for 4 months.
25:51>> you change that to Great British pounds,
25:53>> Yep. So, it's 170 pounds for months. And
25:56if I do that, coach support
25:57>> Someone to chat to.
25:58>> Someone to chat to.
25:59>> Motivations, uh rotations,
26:01>> Okay.
26:01>> and check-ins.
26:02>> Cool. Yeah, that's good.
26:03>> Now, we're at your home page for a sec.
26:04So, we've got some of your steps, your
26:06calories.
26:07>> So, can this sync to my Apple Watch or
26:09>> Yeah.
26:09>> Cool. Programs, challenges. Yeah, I like
26:11that. It seems to have more of like a
26:12human feel than the other apps. So, with
26:15>> I like the community. Go on. Have a
26:16little look.
26:16>> What, on Facebook? Okay. And you're
26:18active in this community, it looks like.
26:20That's good.
26:20>> No, no, no. We just saw a video.
26:21>> I did, yeah.
26:21>> There, go back to the app.
26:22>> And then, uh click on the Apple.
26:24>> So, you got
26:24>> As far as your uh protein requirements,
26:27we're not too mad into meal plans. So,
26:29you want to eat. Instead, we give you
26:30kind of loose calorie macro goals to to
26:32go to.
26:32>> And then, these meal plans, they
26:34included with the
26:35>> You can build your own Express Plus.
26:36>> So, am I getting this for free, these
26:37recipes? Oh, so you could literally just
26:39download this and get meal plans for
26:41free.
26:42>> Yeah.
26:42>> Okay, cool.
26:42>> And then, basically, the gamble is that
26:44we hope by giving people the app for
26:45free
26:46>> Yeah.
26:46>> that they are more inclined to buy a
26:47program rotation.
26:48>> do want to buy a program, they'll come
26:49to you. What's this? And what's this?
26:51Classroom. Okay, cool. I think this is
26:53the most
26:54It's got the most features out of any of
26:56the apps, put it that way. We've got
26:57community, recipes. I like the chat
26:59feature, that's quite cool, and the
27:00classroom. Yeah, I'd say usability I'd
27:02give this an eight 8.5.
27:04>> I do pay his wages. All right, let's
27:05take you for a spin downstairs, client.
27:07>> Oh, okay. Day one. Oh, bench press. So,
27:10I'll be competing I'll be competing with
27:12you. Five sets. How many reps? Oh, five
27:14reps. Cool. Five sets, five reps.
27:16>> Let's have a little look at the
27:16interface there. Let's have a little
27:18make sure you you understand it.
27:20>> A tutorial. Let's watch this real quick.
27:22>> Technicalities are important to get
27:23right before we do so. One, if you are
27:25putting a bench in
27:26>> So, let's do my first set. I've got my
27:28instructions. I should be able to do a
27:29good job.
27:30>> All right.
27:34>> One warm-up set.
27:36Up. Get the arch.
27:39It's all good.
27:40>> You made it smaller, didn't
27:42>> It's all good.
27:49Let's see how Oh, I've started it. Yeah,
27:51okay. Let's do that. Um start the rest.
27:54Oh, there's my rest. Okay, so my weight
27:56What's that? 60? Okay. I want to add
27:58some more weight. 2 minutes later.
28:00>> Drop straight from 60 to 100.
28:02>> Hammer's rolling. Got to run it by the
28:03boss.
28:05Let's go for five. All right, that's
28:07enough rest for me.
28:08>> [groaning]
28:20>> How many today?
28:28Fully
28:31That was moving rough.
28:32All right, 100 done. Cool. All right,
28:35and it's pretty self-explanatory.
28:36>> Over to the whiteboard.
28:37>> All right, what were the first one was
28:40price. Well, it was free. That's going
28:42to be 10 out of 10.
28:45Um what's next? Usability? I'd say UI.
28:48Um, I'm going to go 8.5 and then jacked
28:51factor. I'd say this is great for those
28:54busy moms, professionals who work too
28:56much. If you're a young guy in your
28:58early 20s and you want to get as jacked
28:59as possible, maybe go for Thurstin's
29:01app. If you're anyone else, this is a
29:03good option. I'll probably give it a
29:04Let's go 8.5. Overall up, dare I say
29:08What's that? Nine? Not bad, mate. I I do
29:10get paid by him as well, so take that
29:12into consideration.
29:14>> [laughter]
29:15>> To close up on that, I would argue that
29:17Mike Israetel and Mike Thurston both
29:20know way more when it comes to training
29:22periodization, muscle stretch, etc. I
29:25built the app based on coaching what can
29:27say normal people. Like Deckers said,
29:29whether it's moms, dads, corporate
29:31warriors, rugby players that want to
29:33have a balanced program at the weekend.
29:35And as you can see, a lot of people when
29:37they join a program, they might not like
29:38it, they're on the option to back out.
29:40That's the reason we keep that
29:41completely free and you can either pay
29:42for workouts on a one-off rotation or
29:44you can go to the plan where you get the
29:46one-to-one support. It's also worth
29:47noting that for any of you, we do have a
29:487-day free trial where we're going to
29:50give you a program for free. So actually
29:51I pay for your first program. You can
29:53then keep access to that and then rotate
29:55from there. And the reason being is the
29:56amount of people that we get on trial in
29:57the app and using it, even though maybe
29:5960-70% never come back, the 30% that do
30:02stay with us long enough, they become
30:03cost-efficient. If you want to test all
30:04the apps out in the market, see which
30:06one's best, you can. But I've done three
30:07of them for you to hopefully save you a
30:09bit of time. If you enjoy this type of
