0:11then you see your scores are so bad you

0:14might as well not even get out of bed

0:16today

0:17so you do what most people do

0:20try to ignore it and get on with the

0:23rest of your day when you try your best

0:26but you don't succeed

0:31when you get what you want but not what

0:35you need

0:38me when you feel so tired but you can't

0:42sleep

0:45stuck in River

0:48s

0:49[Music]

0:52and the tears come streaming down your

0:56face

1:00I'm still you can't replace

1:04[Music]

1:06I've been wearing a whoop down for six

1:08months and you might remember I did a

1:10review on it after wearing it for one

1:12month in fact I'm very grateful that

1:13it's the most viewed YouTube video

1:15review of the whoop Fitness tracker I've

1:17worn it for every single Fitness session

1:19training session Jiu Jitsu session every

1:21night out every night and I've worn it

1:22and it's been incredibly insightful to

1:24see how my body reacts to different

1:26stresses but today

1:29I quit

1:32why because I'm fed up being told how I

1:35feel I'm fed up of being told I didn't

1:38recover well enough and I'm sick to

1:40death of being told to not over exert

1:42myself this data is making my life worse

1:46when I'm supposed to be paying the money

1:48for it to make me feel better the thing

1:51is the fitness tracker doesn't measure

1:53how my mental health is or how my mood

1:55is yet the data it's giving me is having

1:58an implication to my mental health or my

2:00mood the fitness tracker doesn't let me

2:02know how productive I've been or how the

2:04quality of my relationships or how my

2:06day is going it's just feeding me data

2:08based off my heart rate my heart rate

2:10variability and how long it thinks I

2:12slept so surely we can just ignore this

2:14data but unfortunately we can't I know

2:16what you're thinking looking at my

2:18fitness tracker is not bothering me at

2:19all well in 2019 there was research

2:22conducted

2:24where a cohort of people were tested for

2:26a gene mutation called

2:29creb1 and this was a proper legitimate

2:32test and people who have this will

2:34probably have a reduced aerobic capacity

2:36but the researchers instead of being

2:38honest with the participants decided to

2:40split the group into two and the other

2:42fifty percent

2:43it's old they do have the genetic

2:46variant crb1 the researchers then found

2:48out the participants being told whether

2:50they do or do not have that Gene was a

2:52better predictor for their outcomes in

2:54the fitness tests than actually having

2:55that Gene itself so for a lot of you

2:57that wake up thinking

2:59that your Fitness tracker telling you

3:00that you slept like last night

3:01isn't going to influence or impact your

3:02day you're wrong

3:04for the next six months I'm just gonna

3:06wake up and think about how I feel think

3:09about how sore I am going to get in the

3:10shower and think about how hard I want

3:12to train that day I'm not going to let

3:13data dictate how I feel or how guilty I

3:16feel about training too much or not I

3:17know the point of this video is this at

3:19the end of the day we're gonna have good

3:21days we're gonna have bad days we're

3:22gonna have good night's sleep we're

3:23gonna have a bad night's sleep but

3:24whether we've had a great day a good day

3:26an average day or even a day should

3:28be something that we reflect upon at the

3:30end of the day before we're going to bed

3:32any data that could put us in a negative

3:34mindset before we've even got out of bed

3:36something we might be better off

3:37eradicating because this is the lesson

3:39that I've learned checking my data of a

3:42fitness tracker and seeing green made me

3:44happy just for a short period of time

3:46but seeing yellow or red gave me

3:48emotions of sadness and annoyance for

3:51pretty much the entire day and I think

3:52that maybe a life with less data could

3:55be a better experience so I'll let you

3:57know in another six months
