0:00sometimes you just fancy a nice cold can

0:02of Coke Zero and I know that there are

0:04some Geniuses on the internet that go

0:05just drink water but what if you don't

0:07fancy water and you want something cold

0:09and fizzy to quench that thirst that you

0:11had so you find a can of Coke Zero if

0:13you think Diet Coke's better than Coke

0:14Zero you should leave the video now just

0:16about when you're about to take a Sit

0:17what's that it's your annoying Auntie

0:19who thinks the world's flat the

0:20conspiracy theory is always popping up

0:22at every single family meal you're like

0:24shh

0:24what's up but you don't quite have the

0:28confidence you need to refute your mad

0:29Auntie as to why Coke Zero is completely

0:31fine when she seems to think you'd be

0:33better off having the sugary alternative

0:35versus a Coke Zero so in this video I'm

0:37going to give you all the evidence you

0:39need to shut her up next time she pipes

0:42up when you want to counter Coke Zero so

0:44let's get into it

0:46oh look at that techers look at that

0:49it's one of the main reasons people lose

0:50their about this stuff is because

0:51of the word carcinogen and what

0:53carcinogen mean is something like a

0:55substance that could potentially lead

0:57and give us cancer so group three we've

0:59got things like magnetic fields we've

1:01got coffee we've even got fluorescent

1:03lights and for all of those things

1:04there's inadequate evidence to say that

1:06it's carcinogenic then moving up the

1:08realm of carcinogenic we've got group 2A

1:10and 2B the easiest way to determine the

1:12difference between these two is it's

1:14possible but there's no significant

1:16evidence now the classification between

1:172B and 2A in 2A there might be some

1:20animal studies and in 2B there's not

1:22really any animal studies now straight

1:25away those buffings that are coming out

1:26going oh but have you seen this study

1:28it's in rats rats rodents so I have a

1:31question for you are you a rat if yes

1:34maybe worry about aspartame if not

1:37we need 100 grams of beef it's harder

1:39than I thought it would be

1:40and in 2B we've got things like pickled

1:42vegetables and aloe vera extract no

1:45one's ever stopping you with a pickled

1:47vegetable okay

1:48okay cancel and in two way there's

1:50exposures from chemicals in hairdressing

1:53and there's things like red meat let's

1:54go on a quick tangent with the red meat

1:56thing come to me there are a lot of

1:58vegans on the internet that say that red

1:59meat gives you cancer long story short

2:01it doesn't but when you look at massive

2:03populations of people you could say that

2:05people that eat a lot of red meat are

2:07more likely to get cancer but that is

2:09correlation not causation because what I

2:11won't think about is this people that

2:13live healthy diets actually are more

2:14very diet of more leaner Meats white

2:16Meats like fish poultry turkey whatever

2:19and people that have a rubbish diet of

2:21burgers bacon kebabs takeaways so

2:24actually when we extrapolate good word

2:26the data we could have a stronger

2:28argument that processed meats are

2:30correlated with more likeliness chances

2:32of getting cancer whereas red meat in a

2:34hole not really that much evidence but

2:36it's not the meat that's giving the

2:38person cancer it's just when looking at

2:40those massive populations of people the

2:42people that are not Health seeking that

2:43don't give a about bedtimes

2:45vegetables sleep the people that vape

2:47and drink every night they eat more

2:50processed Meats not the meat giving them

2:51cancer it's them giving them cancer

2:53because they're not Health seeking

2:54populations picture the most unhealthy

2:56person you can in your mind they get a

2:57lot processed meat have you seen

2:59Talladega Nights do you ever think you

3:01sound like John Gerard I have come to

3:03defeat you should I come back

3:05so the reason that so many people on the

3:07internet losing their about

3:08Aspartame is it was given the

3:10classification of 2B in the carcinogenic

3:12list and best we don't leave out group

3:15one

3:17but you know what also resides within

3:19group two beers being a carcinogen

3:23mobile phones so that Auntie is pissing

3:25you off at the table you can go yeah

3:27well if you care that much about your

3:28health why are using the smartphone

3:31and a quick side tangent would be as

3:33well if people are drinking Coke Zero

3:35instead of traditional Coke and that

3:37could help create a calorie deficit

3:38through reducing the amount of calories

3:39coming in that could help them with

3:40obesity surely that would be the better

3:42of two evils when we know that obesity

3:44is a massive predictor of not only

3:46developing cancer but other terminal

3:47conditions stroke heart attack

3:49cardiovascular disease and even chances

3:51of hospitalization with covid oh fat

3:53shaming shut up studies show that up to

3:5650 milligrams per kilogram of aspartame

3:58is completely safe

4:00so what does that look like in the real

4:02world context

4:06ah occupational hazard so if Studies

4:09have found that consuming up to 50

4:10milligrams of aspartame per kilogram is

4:12a safe amount how much does that mean in

4:14Coke Zero so if we take 50 milligrams

4:17times 96 which is my body weight that

4:19works out to 4 800 milligrams of

4:21aspartame a day that I could have being

4:22a safe amount now if there's 87

4:24milligrams in each kind of Coke Zero how

4:26many cans does that equate to per day

4:28within the safe range well ladies and

4:30gentlemen this is the safe amount of

4:33aspartame and Coke Zero that you could

4:34have a day and all of those

4:3855 cans a day within the safe range of

4:41aspartame a day now if you're consuming

4:44this many cans one uni dentists are

4:47going to be on pretty good terms and two

4:48you probably have bigger concerns at

4:50play here than the sweetener involved in

4:52this oddco is safe to say that you're

4:54probably mental and the studies on

4:55aspartame have actually got something

4:57called a factor 100 safety margin which

4:59means they've actually low board the

5:01amount that you could consume in a day

5:02and set that as a safe marker you can

5:04actually have 10 times this amount and

5:06it would still be within the safe range

5:07there are people much smarter than me in

5:09the industry who have looked at a lot

5:10more data than I've looked at and

5:11they've said you could actually have up

5:13to a thousand cans of diet soda a day

5:15and still be within the Realms of what's

5:17considered safe but I know what you're

5:19thinking

5:20you've chemically produced something in

5:22the lab that you can put in a beverage

5:24to make it taste sweet without them to

5:25put sugar in it surely the absorption

5:27means the human body of aspartame is

5:29only going to cause havoc and wreck our

5:31guts and our systems and breaking it

5:33down is going to absolutely ruin us and

5:36be unhealthy for all of our organs so

5:38let's look into the science of that too

5:40and there's actually something called a

5:42dose response when we look at all the

5:43things that were on the board before the

5:45higher the dose of that carcinogen the

5:48worse the outcome would be the more

5:49obese you were the more likely you get

5:51cancer the more you smoke the more

5:52likely you are to get lung cancer the

5:54more you drink you get it the higher the

5:55dose of the carcinogen the worse your

5:57situation would be weirdly in the

5:59studies that we have about aspartame

6:00people that consume more of it actually

6:02a decreased risk of developing cancer so

6:05as far as a dose response it's still not

6:07really in the Realms of seeing it as a

6:09dangerous thing even consuming that many

6:11cans a day

6:13so when one can of diet soda or Coke

6:15Zero enters the human body it is broken

6:18down 10 into methanol 40 into aspartic

6:22acid and 50 into phenylalanine so what

6:24does that mean well although these

6:26compounds can seem scary one glass of

6:28tomato juice contains six times as much

6:31methanol as a can of diet soda and one

6:33egg contains 34 times as much aspartic

6:36acid as a can of Coke Zero and a hundred

6:39grams of beef contains between 16 and 32

6:42times as much phenylinine as a can of

6:44diet soda so when you look at what this

6:46is broken down to in the human body we

6:48can't really build a strong argument

6:49that it's something we should be worried

6:50about at the end of the day life is

6:52about making the best choices possible

6:53not the best choices although we could

6:55argue that a glass of water is better

6:57for you than a can of Coke Zero if you

6:58feel like a can of Coke Zero you should

7:00have one similarly to it's obvious we

7:01could say never drink alcohol you could

7:03live the healthiest life possible but if

7:05you fancy a beer nothing is going to

7:08quench your thirst for a beer like a

7:09beer but we make the best choices

7:11possible maybe you just have five pints

7:13instead out of 15 but everything in

7:15moderation remember when looking at

7:17things that are poisonous it's often in

7:18the dose you can drink too much water

7:20and poison yourself so stop listening to

7:22your annoying auntie and instead think

7:24about your cousin Fat Bob he's a big boy

7:27Big Bob he needs some interventions he

7:29can bring into his life to make him

7:30healthier because we all know he's a

7:32walking heart attack and saying to him

7:34hey Bob instead of you having normal

7:37sugar-filled beverages a Coke just have

7:39some Coke Zero we could see a reduction

7:41of several hundred calories a day and

7:43that compounded over a long period of

7:44time means that you could put yourself

7:46in a calorie deficit without having to

7:47exercise more then over time he's

7:49starting to feel better the Coke Zero is

7:50starting to create deficit for him we

7:52might feel more inclined to get a gym

7:53membership take more bloody steps in a

7:55day and make more health-seeking

7:57behaviors this is one of the easiest

7:59means that we can use to get people to

8:02reduce their calorie intakes without

8:03flipping their lives upside down and

8:05when we know that long-term fat loss is

8:07mostly governed by sustainability and

8:09adherability the evidence points Us in

8:11One Direction Coke Zero is it's

8:13completely fine there are way worse

8:15things in your life you should be

8:15worried about than a can of flipping

8:17Coke Zero
