— Coke Zero Fear Mongering
0:00I know this is really going to rub some
0:01people the wrong way, but we really need
0:02to speak about this. Brian Johnson, the
0:05guy that wants to live forever. I'm
0:06gonna get so much for this, but
0:08let's just get into this.
0:09>> We're at a party. Which one's worse?
0:10Wine or diet coke? Let's take a look.
0:12Caramel color, aspartame, phosphoric
0:14acid.
0:14>> He's just kind of reading these things
0:15out without actually giving any context.
0:17For instance, aspartame. We've done some
0:19videos on this before. Broken down into
0:21what? Fenylanine, aspartic acid, and
0:23methanol. And that sounds really bad and
0:25dangerous, but let me find it. Actually,
0:27there's a really good graphic. And this
0:28this article here I've been citing since
0:31like 2017. First of all, it's by Menow
0:33Henzelman who's a very well- reggarded
0:35based expert. And every claim in here
0:37that he says is backed up by studies. So
0:40often you'll know if someone is
0:42objectively making a claim about
0:43something because there'll be some kind
0:44of evidence to back it up. Now this
0:46graphic here, did I get it right?
0:48Methanol, spartic acid, phenylanine. So
0:50one can of diet soda 125 milligs.
0:52Methanol. Oh my god. Again, a glass of
0:54tomato juice contains six times as much.
0:56Fenyl alanine again 100 gram of beef
0:58contains 16 to 32 times as much and a
1:00spartic acid one egg contains 34 times
1:03as much. So even when we look at these
1:04kind of bad names that he's talking
1:06about what does that mean? Again if we
1:08come down to here the study was in rats
1:09and I famously did that coke zero video
1:11where I was like you should be worried
1:12if you're a rat and if we look here at
1:14the safety matrix unless you're
1:16consuming over,00
1:18to 4,000 cans of soda a day you're going
1:21to be fine. And then there are some
1:22issues of people that do have sweetened
1:23beverages. You know, some people, for
1:25instance, will have a protein bar and
1:26they'll get a bit of a gut reaction and
1:27they'll be like, "Oh, it's the
1:29sucralose. Oh, the stevia." And it's
1:31actually one of the other compounds in
1:32it. They just look at the protein bar
1:34and think, "What's the easiest thing to
1:35blame?" So, straight away, just reading
— Correlation vs Causation:
1:37out stuff making it scary. It's
1:38fearongering.
1:39>> Potassium benzoate, natural flavors,
1:41citric acid, and caffeine. And aspartame
1:44may disrupt your microbiome.
1:46>> And again, actually may disrupt. We're
1:49not saying does disrupt. We've gone into
1:51the evidence and studies of this quite a
1:53lot recently and there's a pority of
1:56evidence. So again may for some people
1:58but most people no fear mongering
2:00>> coke may also increase the risk of type
2:022 diabetes, heart disease and
2:04>> but what are you citing here? And again
2:06he's probably trying to site here
2:08associations diet soda and non-coric
2:11artificial sweetener use of markers of
2:12glucose and and a lot of the
2:14associations between these is that who
2:17drinks the majority of diet sodas? Obese
2:19people. So therefore, it's very easy to
2:21create an association between the two.
2:23Here's another one for you. Did you know
2:24that ice cream sales are associated with
2:27drowning? You might think that's crazy,
2:28but no. On warmer days, people are more
2:31inclined to eat ice creams. On warmer
2:32days, people are more likely to swim.
2:34That does not mean that drownings are
2:36caused by ice cream. That is an
2:38association. And here we've actually
2:40seen that water is not superior to
2:41non-nutritive sweetened beverages for
2:43weight loss during a comprehensive
2:44behavioral weight loss program. I'm
2:46pretty sure there's some other studies
2:47as well that show that having sweetened
2:49beverages can have a benefit to weight
2:52loss and calorie controlled diets. So,
2:54we can't just objectively look at
2:55something and go, "Oh, it's got E
2:57numbers in." Did you know E numbers are
2:59also a safety rating? It really annoys
3:00me when people go, "Don't have that.
3:02It's got E numbers in." Guess what?
3:04Vitamin C's E number is E300 plebs. So
3:07this fear-mongering about Coke Zero,
3:09which actually for a lot of people, if
3:12you want them to live longer, mate,
3:14swapping them from calorie containing
3:16beverages to sugar-free sweetened
3:18beverages would only positively impact
3:20their energy balance, therefore allowing
3:22them to lose weight. And we know
3:23objectively, brother, that reducing
3:25someone's level of adopostia, which fact
3:26they have, helps them with longevity. So
— Wine Isn’t Healthy — But Context Matters
3:28you are being a bit of a knobed,
3:31bro. This is super unprofessional of me
3:33to say this, right? But if we were to do
3:35like a double blind control study and I
3:37was to identify people to their health
3:39metrics, and I know that's some
3:40prejudice, I would not say, "Oh my god,
3:43this guy looks like he's going to live
3:44hundreds of years." Oh, easily to 500.
3:46You look like you're about to have a
3:47anxious breakdown. Anyway, let's
3:48see what you got to say about the wine.
3:49>> It has a halo effect for high culture.
3:51Wine has between 12 and 14% alcohol. It
3:54is a class one caren. One drink a day
3:56can increase the risk for several
3:58cancers.
3:58>> You sound super dehydrated as well.
4:00>> And the choice of diet coke or alcohol,
4:02I'm going to choose dehydration.
4:03>> Okay. I would agree that I disagree with
4:05people when they say there's benefits to
4:06alcohol from a health perspective. There
4:08isn't. It is a toxin. It isn't good for
4:11you. However, again, we're lacking
4:12nuance and debate. We can say to people,
4:14"Hey, wine is not good for you." And if
4:15you are going to have wine, have it in
4:16moderation because having a glass of
4:18wine once a month, having a glass wine
4:19once a day is obviously different
4:21outcomes in the dose, right? But from a
4:23social perspective, having a glass of
4:25wine with your partner might be
4:26beneficial to a marriage or your
4:27relationship. Having a glass of wine on
4:29a first date might be good for reducing
4:31inhibitions and allowing you to find a
4:33mate. Because again, if we look at that
4:35dates, if we just look at health
4:36markers, yeah, sure, we say alcohol is a
4:38bad thing, but if it helps two people
4:40bond, think of the economic benefits of
4:42people falling in love and living
4:43together under one household. Think of
4:45the benefits to society of those two
4:47people living together and having
4:48children. We could argue that having
4:50children is bad for you because of the
4:52negation it has to your sleep impact. No
4:54nuance. And the fact you would say I
4:56would pick dehydration is again just
4:58fear-mongering. You would obviously just
5:00ask for a glass of water and you're very
5:01very Machavelian with what you say about
5:03Coke Zero. I think you've got a mental
5:05illness Brian Johnson and it's very
5:08ironic you've got the same name as Liver
5:09King cuz he was also a shill. Now just
— Orthorexia & Eating Disorders
5:11before your loons come for me and want
5:13to attack me and say whatever it is. For
5:14any of you that don't know, Brian
5:16Johnson sold a business, made a lot of
5:17money, has devoted his life now to
5:19longevity. If we look at some of his
5:21most popular videos, tried to make my
5:23face younger. How bad is McDonald's?
5:26He's like a bit of a health bro. Now, he
5:28takes like a hundred supplements a day
5:29and does all kinds of other things under
5:31the guise of doing it to help everyone
5:33live longer. But there's just a few
5:35flaws from the outside looking in.
5:36Number one, if you really wanted to help
5:39people, you would be doing these on a
5:40one by one basis. You can't take a 100
5:43supplements and then talk about the
5:44benefits because that is not how you
5:46conduct a study. Anyone evidence-based
5:48goes, "Hold on a second. If you're going
5:49to change multiple variables at the same
5:50time, we cannot conclude that the
5:52benefits have come from anything else."
5:53One thing that I've had to navigate as a
5:54personal trainer is eating disorders.
5:56And then there's been anorexia, this
5:58bulimia. When you want to know about
5:59things that prematurely end people's
6:01lives, eating disorders are one of the
6:02most savage ones possible. It is very
6:04irresponsible, whether you're Joix or
6:06anyone else in this health-based
6:08industry, to label things as good and
6:10bad. Even as a PT that's done thousands
6:12of hours, I've had to refer so many
6:13clients to specialists with eating
6:15disorders. And the one that I don't
6:16think people pay enough attention to is
6:17orthorexia. Orthorexia is an unhealthy
6:19obsession with eating foods one
6:20considers pure, clean, and healthy. And
6:22the majority of the fitness industry can
6:24become really messed up by doing this.
6:25Now, here's my unpopular take. After
6:28making hundreds of millions of dollars,
6:29I can't help but feel there are a lot of
6:30people that make a lot of money and they
6:32realize it's not actually money they
6:33wanted. It's kind of recognition. It's
6:35status. It's the millions of views.
6:36Because let me tell you this, if I sell
6:38a business for $800 million, I'm not
6:40using social media ever again. I'm just
6:42going to go relax, spend time with my
6:43family. I think this guy's drunk on the
6:45recognition of, "Oh my god, you're
6:47amazing. Oh, what you do for us, you're
6:49like a modernday Jesus." But I can't
6:51help but think there's a person here
6:53with a bit of a mental disorder,
6:55obsessed with one of the most irrational
6:57things possible to live forever.
6:59>> I've been spending millions of dollars
7:01trying to create the perfect diet. What
7:03I did is I asked all my organs of the
7:05body. Hey, heart, liver, and kidney.
7:07What do you need to be your best self?
7:08We looked at scientific evidence and
7:09this is the result. A diet exactly
7:11mapped to produce 50.
7:13>> Who is going to be able to do this? I
— The Business of Immortality
7:15just don't get it.
7:15>> You can have caffeine, alcohol. I now
7:17have
7:17>> this dramatic music. You think it's a
7:19trailer for a film? that have
7:21the molecules you want to I've been
7:23spending millions of dollars developing
7:25an anti-aging protocol. Today I'm going
7:27to show
7:27>> I think there's just some discussion
7:28that needs to be had about not living in
7:31the sake of living. This guy is going to
7:33have a bedtime very poor social life.
7:36Weird friendship group for the sake of
7:38what? Getting people to double tap your
7:39real. I could be wrong. I just don't get
7:41it. Surely quality of life trumps
7:43longevity of life. This guy is on a
7:46route one mission to watch every single
7:48person he knows die. go to all their
7:50funerals. Maybe he's got a fixation with
7:52funerals and not living forever.
7:53>> I eat 70 pounds of vegetables a month.
7:55>> Oh wow. The fact you measure that mental
7:57illness.
7:57>> As you get older for men, this gets
8:00bigger.
8:00>> Yeah,
8:01>> that's
8:01>> when I wake up in the morning, I have a
8:03drink I call the green giant. Chlorella
8:05powder, spermadines, creatine, collagen
8:08peptides, cocoa flavonols, cinnamon.
8:10>> We have searched all over the world for
8:12the best possible cocoa. I have been
8:14spending millions of dollars for the
8:16past 3 years working to slow my speed of
8:19age. today.
8:19>> Surely the stress component of worrying
8:22about all of these things can't be good
8:23for you. Now, this isn't backed by
8:25science. I would consider myself
8:26evidence-based, but people that worry
8:27about stuff, I swear, must have a higher
8:30chance of dying. For instance, there's
8:32probably going to be someone in the
8:33Mediterranean somewhere who's like 110
8:35years old. And I guarantee he smokes
8:37like a chimney. And I bet his family
8:39have said to him, "Hey, Uncle Tommy, you
8:42got to stop smoking." I don't know why
8:43he's from New York now. They probably
8:44said to their uncle like, "Look, you got
8:46to stop smoking." He's like, "This isn't
8:47bad for me. I'm fine. I've been doing
8:49this for 100 years. He probably laughs
8:50and goes, "All my doctors are dead. All
8:52the people that told me to smoke aren't
8:54here anymore." Cuz he genuinely believes
8:56that smoking is not bad for him. Whereas
8:57the people that smoke going, "This is
8:58going to kill me. This is going to kill
8:59me. This going to kill me." Pray does
9:00kill them. Anyway, that's not me saying
9:01that smoking is good for you. We know
9:02smoking is bad. It's an example. I'm
9:04making a point. But this guy waking up
9:06every day like, "Oh my god, I'm going to
9:07check my pulse, check my HIV, I've got
9:08to get to sleep on time. Oh, got to get
9:09that crawl out. I've got to get my
9:10spring train. Oh my god, I've only taken
9:1290 pills today. I need to take 100."
9:13That can't be good for you. And I can't
9:15believe so many people suck this guy
9:17off.
9:18>> The reason why I take 100 pills a day is
9:20if the budget is 2,000 calories a day
9:22and the objective is perfect nutrition
9:24and it's vegan. This is what keeps my
9:26body in that perfect state.
9:28>> Mental illness.
9:29>> I'm going to explain to you how you can
9:32identify the right olive oil so that you
9:34can achieve the health benefits the
9:35evidence shows is possible. I have said
9:37publicly that I'm trying to become 18
9:40years old. It's
9:41>> That's a bit weird. That's a bit weird,
9:42isn't it? You're an old man about like
9:4440, 50 years old, isn't you? How old are
9:45you? How old is Brian Johnson, the
9:48longevity guy? 47. You look it, bro. You
9:51actually look a bit malnourished, if I'm
9:52honest.
9:53>> My 16 and 18year-old boys are doing a
9:55lot of this.
9:56>> You know, when someone protesting in the
9:58street for trans rights suddenly has
10:00trans kids. Both kids are trans. I never
10:03believe it. Second kid's trans. What are
10:05the odds? Maybe this guy is the perfect
10:07parent and I'm not. But when when my
10:08son's 15, I'm going to be like, "You
10:10want to pack a beer, son?" Now look,
10:11that's not good for you, but go
10:12experiment. Oh, dad, my friend smoke.
10:14Come here, son. I'll make him smoke a
10:16whole cigarette pack. Hey, do you like
10:17them now? No, didn't think so. Stop
10:19smoking.
10:20>> She is not yet subscribed to the
10:21program. My parents are doing a
10:24>> just let let him live, bro. I can't help
10:27but think this person, Brian Johnson,
10:28doesn't want to live forever. He just
10:30wants to be famous. Just want people to
10:32love you. And that's okay. That's okay.
10:34documentary, free protocol, starter
10:36kits, biomarker testing, meals and
10:39snacks, supplements. Okay, now it's
10:42starting to make sense a little bit. I
10:44was trying to think, why would a
10:45multi-millionaire be so keen to talk
10:47about this kind of stuff? Longevity mix
10:49$66. Essential capsules $85. Daily stack
10:54travel pack only $379.
10:56Wow, you're a supplement, bro. Okay,
10:59makes sense. All products. Let's have a
11:00look at this. Plus, extra virgin olive
11:03oil for only $61.
11:05Oh, fantastic. Don't die. Imagine your
11:08doctor like in a cancer ward in a
11:11hospital. Hey guys, don't die today.
11:13Children's Cancer W. Got a bit of merch
11:15on. Oh, did you not have your greens
11:16powder, Tommy? No wonder you got the big
11:18C. Brian's protocol. What we selling
11:20here? Oh, okay. This is a very strange
11:23ecosystem, isn't it? Oh, here we go. Oh,
11:25the flex beam or the pulsetto Vegas. Oh,
11:28wow. Okay. Intracellular NAD. I've done
11:31NAD before, by the way. Never didn't
11:33feel a difference. Eight sleep, I'll
11:34give you that. Eight sleep is actually
11:35sick. Eight sleep's good. Let's just go
11:37through some of these. What? Where does
11:38this end, mate? Where does this
11:41end? Oh, the old neurosim. Oh, only
11:43$1,200. What is it? Oh, neurom
11:46modulation technology. Okay. Yep.
11:48Actually, always wondered about one of
11:49those. Like the eight, you can get it.
11:51It's a temperature regulated mattress
11:53where, you know, most people sleep at a
11:55different temperature to their partner.
11:56My miss is always is on warm, mine is
11:58always on cold. Like what is this? Flex
12:00Beam. Looking for an effective way to
12:01relieve pain, recover faster, boost your
12:03energy levels, and optimize your health?
12:04Flex Beam is a wearable red light
12:06therapy devices. Look, when I was in
12:07Austin, I got put into a bit of this.
12:09Did red light therapy with Chris
12:11Williamson? No. Felt nothing. Did the
12:13NAD drip. Horrible. I can't help but
12:15feel a lot of people have got mental
12:18things they're trying to work through in
12:19the head that can express themselves
12:21physically in the body. And this to me
12:23just seems of a way to try and take
12:24advantage of these people. This is a
12:26business at the end of the day. And that
12:27is the front man to this business. And I
12:29can't help but feel that we have
12:31fear-mongering orthorexia. The other
12:33Brian Johnson, right, claimed he was
12:35natural until the point he got busted.
12:37His whole brand was built around being
12:39natural. This guy's brand is based
12:41around living forever. And you won't
12:42know it's up until he dies. So
12:44considering he's 47, let's say he's got
12:4730 years till the average person dies,
12:49he can say whatever he wants and there's
12:51no way you can refute him or rebuke him
12:53because he's still alive. Yeah, I'm on
12:55track to live to about 250. How are you
12:58going to prove that wrong? He's
13:0047. This is fear-mongering. This is
13:03mental. It's okay. This is the the only
13:05two things this can be severe mental
13:07illness and this is his coping mechanism
13:09or this is a business to sell
13:10supplements. Just like the liver king
13:11had ancestral tenants. This guy is
13:14making you feel like you're not doing
13:16enough to live forever. But guess what?
13:17You're supposed to die. It's part of
13:20life. Because guess what? Most of you
13:22watching this, the only way your kids
13:23are going to have a house is for you to
13:24die and give it to them. It's the circle
13:25of life. And imagine this, right? You do
13:27this longevity protocol, and let's
13:28pretend it works, which I very much
13:30doubt it does, and then your kids don't.
13:31You're going to bury your kids. Great.
13:33That's not the way this is supposed to
13:35work. They say that growing old is a
13:37privilege denied to too many. And what I
13:39can't stand is people making a buck off
13:41of this. Eat the best you can. Don't
13:43become addicted to alcohol, smoking, any
13:45of that stuff. Be active, play sport, be
13:47sociable, live a good life, seek
13:49purpose, but not at the expense of not
13:51living. It makes me sad. It really does
13:52make me sad. You won, bro. You sold your
13:54business for $800 million. You won. Why
13:57are you here? Go live your life. Go
13:59enjoy it. Invest your money. Live out
14:01your day. Spend time with your family.
14:02Stop stressing with inflation. You're
14:04probably a billionaire by now. And
14:05you're out here trying to tell people
14:06not to drink Coke Zeros. Come on, mate.
14:08Either I'm an idiot or I can't help but
14:10think that this is just a page on a
14:11channel of terrible advice. People
14:12should be striving for balance, not
14:14perfection. What do I know?
