0:00I bet you don't even realize the impact
0:01that social media has on your perception
0:03of the world and how you see it on a
0:05daily basis from what we eat how we see
0:07our bodies our sex lives unreal
0:08expectations and even the chances of
0:10been bitten by a shark in the sea next
0:12time you visit Australia according to
0:13Social Media has bu and I are secretly
0:15best friends I'm going to explain the
0:17six biggest issues that I see when it
0:19comes to social media and some of the
0:20things that we can do proactively to
0:22stop them ruining our lives number one
0:24orthorexia although this has been going
0:26on for many years 2023 saw liviing
0:28explode to socials he was claiming naty
0:31status and his principles were the nine
0:32ancestral tenants which I'm sure had
0:35good meaning but it turned out the liver
0:36King Brian Johnson was a lying piece of
0:38[ __ ] behind his multi-million dollar
0:40Empire based on improving lives with
0:42supplementation regimes was excessive
0:44steroid and growth hormone use which
0:46actually borderlines more of abuse in a
0:48bid to grow his business to the largest
0:50possible Heights he had to deceive
0:52millions of people to get there 2024 so
0:54our brand new meme page Eddie Abu like
0:56Liv King people flock to something that
0:58must be novel that must be superior to
1:00just exercising more and having a more
1:02balanced diet the more crazy the more
1:05insane the character is the more we just
1:07cannot resist flocking to that rather
1:09than just sensible advice that's backed
1:11by science and in the space of a year we
1:13went from eating testicles and living
1:14Primal to labeling the majority of foods
1:16is [ __ ] and abolishing anything that is
1:18in meat and eggs is being terrible for
1:20your health you may even recall that Ed
1:22Abu recently said that if you're
1:24depressed it's because of your diet so
1:25if you're out there on anti-depressants
1:27and you're thinking about ending it all
1:28just eat meat and eggs according to
1:29Eddie depression is all diet based not
1:31only that you'll also recall that last
1:33week Eddie made a point that you
1:34shouldn't be tired in your 20s so for
1:36any of you NHS workers that are doing
1:37night shifts and doing 18-hour days just
1:40eat better you idiots thanks Eddie
1:42carnivores have actually been doing this
1:43for years Eddie's found a knack of doing
1:45it in a more viral way Eddie comes from
1:47a background of extreme drug abuse as a
1:49very high-end bodybuilder and I'll tip
1:51my hat to Eddie and even though he was
1:53taken GRS of gear a week and probably
1:55shortened his life by decades he was
1:57good at that but someone that bodybuild
1:59to that level and gets in them skimpy
2:01underwear to tents on stage to impress
2:03another bunch of BLS they crave some
2:05sort of attention so you must ask
2:07yourself are these values that Eddie you
2:08know purports true to his beliefs or
2:11light liviing is this aoy to grow his
2:13financial position to the best position
2:15possible because it's estimated that
2:17Eddie's making over £50,000 a month
2:19educating people and subjects that are
2:20not backed by science he even insists
2:23that the insulin hypothesis which has
2:24been debunked a lot numerous times with
2:26a plethora of studies that insulin is
2:28the driver of weight gain and if you
2:29want to lose weight you need to control
2:31your insulin not your calories he
2:32debunks energy balance he actually
2:33disputes that calories are not even a
2:35thing Eddie goes head-to-head with
2:36thermodynamics and there are millions of
2:38people that back him because they're
2:39idiots now I get that Edd's message is
2:41backed by well-meaning but so is liver
2:43Kings and I'm sure that thousands of
2:44lives maybe even millions of lives are
2:46better off with this content they're
2:47probably eating better they're probably
2:49having less Ultra processed foods which
2:50has always been the main principle of
2:52what I preach to improve your diet
2:54exercise more and lose fat my biggest
2:55gripe with Eddie is this he seems to say
2:57that diet is everything but i' would say
2:59there are three tears that we need to
3:01prioritize when it comes to improving
3:02our health cardiovascular fitness the
3:04amount of fat we have the quality of our
3:05diet whereas Eddie just focuses on one
3:08sometimes when working with obese
3:09populations getting them to change their
3:11diet is actually the hardest part so
3:12getting them to reduce the amount of
3:13calories coming in which can be done
3:15with a poor diet will cause them to lose
3:17fat which actually benefits their health
3:18also we can improve their cardiovascular
3:20fitness so there are two out of three
3:22means that we can improve someone's
3:23objective Health markers without
3:24improving their diet let's not say I
3:25don't want to improve their diet but we
3:27need to be nuanced and see what we can
3:28do with that client because everyone can
3:30eat healthy for two week and they go
3:31back to their old habits am I right now
3:33I know a lot of you are going to be in
3:34Eddie's defense probably in the comments
3:35going yeah we know that Eddie can't
3:37really read or assess research papers or
3:40understand literature but he's trying to
3:43save lives he's doing this with people's
3:44best interests at heart and I completely
3:46agree but if we are to stray away from
3:48objective truths in a bid to save lives
3:50where does this end because if you
3:52support that notion then that's just a
3:54bit like agreeing with what the
3:55governments did in the pandemic when
3:56they claimed vaccines were a lot more
3:58safe than they actually were because it
4:00was in a bit to save lives if you can be
4:01dishonest as long as people's best
4:03interests are at heart where does that
4:04stop you then open a door to a place
4:06that we don't want to go so many of you
4:07are up in arms that the government lied
4:09to us in one hand was trying to protect
4:10us with the other yet when their
4:11favorite influencer goes into
4:13supermarkets and just makes stuff up
4:14that's completely fine Edd's content
4:16actually used to be super reasonable
4:17he's now a product of the people egging
4:18him on Pardon The pun here's a video of
4:20Eddie back in the day where he's a lot
4:21more sensible now when you got something
4:24like um lenos it's like getting protein
4:27out of bread it just pointless his
4:30stances on things are a lot less
4:31polarizing and he's a lot actually
4:33closer to an evidence-based standpoint
4:35on nutrition but unfortunately that
4:37doesn't bang millions of views the
4:38further you go from the objective truth
4:40the easier it is to get people as part
4:42of your cult and therefore make lots of
4:43money from it look at the Mormons or
4:45Scientology pretty sure they make more
4:47money than Christianity and their story
4:49is whack which brings me on to number
4:51two body image issues and the algorithm
4:53everyone nowaday wants to be a fitness
4:54influencer because it pays well and you
4:56can work remote from a laptop in barley
4:58but out the tens of thousands of people
4:59doing it only the most confident best
5:01looking best physiqu ones will stop you
5:04in your tracks your eyes may admire the
5:05male or female physiques then boom you
5:07are done the algorithm then knows that
5:10you want to see more of that the more
5:11younger the more chiseled anyone not in
5:13that top 1% shape you'll swipe past
5:15before you know your feed is curated
5:17with the best the top of the algorithm
5:19of these fittest best looking babes and
5:22every time you go on your phone you just
5:24flocked and you can't stop looking at
5:25them you try swiping away but the
5:26algorithm knows what you're doing knows
5:28you like the babes sharing it into the
5:29boys group chat doesn't well imagine if
5:31I was to get the top 10,000 business
5:33owners and then I said hey let's let's
5:34just go mingle with the top 50 of those
5:36you'd then feel that your own
5:37entrepreneurial Talent was not even
5:39worth pursuing but in any cohort of
5:41humans if you look at the top 1% you're
5:42going to feel damn depressed from it you
5:44must realize that every time you go on
5:45social media you are skimming the top
5:47percentile of winners it's not reality
5:49it's not real life which brings me on to
5:50number three dating there's a fantastic
5:53guy called Rory Sutherland who did a
5:55podcast with Chris Williamson and he
5:56makes an exceptional point about
5:58recruiting Talent and dating and here's
6:00a clip of Rory Southerland by the way
6:02big credit to Modern wisdom podcast too
6:03I know I'm business partner with Chris
6:05but his guests have been exceptional
6:06recently I don't think a still
6:08photograph and a few words of text uh in
6:11any way a proxy for who you might Forge
6:13a long-term relationship with r makes a
6:15fantastic point that when you're
6:17recruiting an HR department often won't
6:19see anyone who on their CV doesn't have
6:21a 21 and above which is a grade at
6:23University and the issue with that is
6:25there is a lot of talent out there that
6:27just didn't want to go to university or
6:28that didn't get a 21 myself included I
6:30flunked out in my first year because I
6:32just hated it doesn't mean I'm not
6:33intelligent or I'm not capable my
6:34multiple businesses should be credit to
6:36that just cuz I don't want to sit in a
6:38room for an hour and a half and recite
6:39boring topics of medicine through time
6:41and scribble it on Bits of Paper doesn't
6:43mean I'm stupid so it's kind of
6:44ridiculous that people hiring graduates
6:47for their first job would Overlook the
6:49majority of people not to mention the
6:51amount of men going to University is
6:52massively dropping if you only set a 21
6:56as a prerequisite for hiring you're
6:58going to leave a lot time on the table
7:00and if all recruiters are all looking
7:02for the same 21 and above loads of
7:05talent doesn't get a look in the rest of
7:06the talent is all being fought over and
7:08we see the same issues with dating and
7:09this again is Rory's point the same way
7:12that just setting a prerequisite for a
7:1321 to hire someone for a job makes the
7:16same mistake as in dating apps just
7:17using a picture and a bit of text to try
7:19and pick someone that's ideal for dating
7:21R makes a fantastic point that Cameron
7:22Diaz and Jennifer Aniston wouldn't be
7:25super models they just don't have the
7:26look but because it's the way they move
7:28it's the way they interact it's the the
7:29way they sound it's seeing them on video
7:31that makes you realize their beauty the
7:33same goes for different characters
7:35different men different women all over
7:37the world people that look good in
7:38photos and people that look good in
7:39video are very different and from my
7:40experience with dating those that look
7:42best on the pictures look like a sack of
7:43potatoes in real life and some that look
7:45like a sack of potatoes in the pictures
7:47turned out to be beautiful in real life
7:48and if we rely on just social media apps
7:50we are like recruiters we leave a lot of
7:52Talent on the table that's why the
7:53dating pool is so messed up rather than
7:55just meeting someone on a night out
7:57having a few drinks and going yeah go
7:58fit we're suddenly screening people with
8:00a means that may not flatter them in the
8:02best light not to mention at the moment
8:04in someone like the UK it's so expensive
8:06to go to university that only people
8:07going to University now people that need
8:09to get degrees for jobs whereas back in
8:11the day you'd go socialize move away
8:12from home for a few years and get your
8:14end away on three nights a week so even
8:15people at University aren't socializing
8:17in the way they were supposed to because
8:18their parents don't want to spend
8:20£10,000 a year to send their kid away to
8:22UNI for them if getting piss three
8:23nights a week that's what university was
8:24back in the day so not only we seen
8:26degrading relationships with food rates
8:28of orthorexia going not are we only
8:30seeing social media making people feel
8:31depressed about the fact they don't have
8:32a six-pack we're now seeing people that
8:34get depressed cuz they can't find a
8:35decent partner or someone to go on a
8:37date with because they're relying wholly
8:38on social media apps that are largely
8:40flawed to find a partner it's very
8:42important that you're proactive iners
8:44that you find good talent which brings
8:45me on to number four anabolic steroids
8:47Alan Richardson portrays the character
8:49in reart and I like Alan Richardson I
8:51think he's a dreamy bloke I watched the
8:53first two episodes and let me tell you
8:54this I could not stop looking at his
8:56muscles and his hairline you seen Jack
8:58Reacher not seen him no he is do you
9:01[ __ ] well what do you do with your life
9:03crypto [ __ ] waste man this guy's 40
9:06he's Jed and he's got perfect hairline
9:09so I'm like look I know you're getting a
9:10bit testy with the old so how are you
9:13keeping that Immaculate hairline whilst
9:14running test how is this Fair he's been
9:17an actor for like 10 years and this guy
9:18is top percentile genetics but the
9:22second this guy goes on a few 200
9:23milligrams of test a week boom Men's
9:26Health one him on the front cover what
9:28does that say that you can be an elite
9:30man looking a great way the guy over the
9:32guy is like 6'2 very goodl looking
9:35Immaculate stick the guy on a bit of
9:37test Men's Health go now we are ready to
9:39have you to depict what Fitness is to
9:41the people let me get the cover out that
9:43guy and this is the thing it says fit at
9:46any age more muscle more energy and
9:47every decade of your life jacked Reacher
9:50finally gets huge you got young dudes
9:52looking at this guy as aspiration you're
9:55in the gym slaying it day in day out
9:57trying to be the best version of
9:58yourself and you've got a living
10:00breathing encapsulation that if you were
10:02to just add testosterone to your life
10:04and pin yourself forever your career
10:06could take
10:07off nice one men's health as if you
10:10weren't plebs before put in un aspiral
10:12physiques because you're you're the the
10:14issue menself you literally take the top
10:17percentile of what you call men that
10:19haven't eaten in a while you put them on
10:20the front cover of your magazine there
10:22are real great men that don't have
10:24sixpacks there are real men in great
10:25bids of Health that don't have model
10:27physiques and I just hate what your
10:29magazine is about six minute ab routines
10:32hey try this exercise there's there's no
10:34periodization no education because if
10:36people actually understood the
10:37principles they wouldn't read your shite
10:39oh who's currently on cycle let's get a
10:42picture of on the front cover plebs come
10:44on bro the number five the availability
10:47bias and I know I've covered this in a
10:48few videos before but in essence the
10:50information that's available to us makes
10:51us paint a reality of the world not
10:53really how it is for instance I'm here
10:55literally a few hundred meters away from
10:57the sea in Australia every time I go out
10:59and swim my mind does the same thing as
11:01you going sharks but I'm way more likely
11:02to drown Bondi rescue made a whole TV
11:04show about people drowning at the beach
11:06not shark attacks but every time there's
11:08a shark attack everyone knows about it
11:09every time there's a drowning no one
11:10cares you can literally walk down to
11:12Bondi Beach and watch people walk into
11:14the ocean fully clothed with jeans on
11:15and get sucked into a rip because the
11:17problem is I'm British I can name five
11:19different species of shark but I still
11:21can't spot the rip which is where the
11:22water goes out because I can look at the
11:24waves and the thing is say you're going
11:25for a little swim you're oh nice waves
11:26nice waves oh there's a little Gap but
11:27there's no waves rip swim in your dep
11:29dead it's the same as the lottery you
11:32you spend enough this is you this is you
11:34mate crypto mate no one knows a lottery
11:37winner but they see one on TV so they go
11:39oh my God I need to do the lottery and
11:40then they don't just give them the money
11:41they they get the person to come on TV
11:43give them the massive check get out
11:44there look at Trevor look at fat Trevor
11:47he won 10 million this could be you they
11:49throw it in your face to make you feel
11:51like it could happen when statistically
11:52it really can't the same as you with
11:53your crypto lot you truly believe that
11:56crypto is your way up because you only
11:57subscribe to the people that have done
11:59done well with crypto because the tens
12:00of thousands of millions of people that
12:02lost huge amounts of money in crypto
12:03remain silent which paints a reality of
12:05the world that isn't true but every time
12:08you feel depressed about your stance on
12:09crypto there you go and delve into
12:11looking for more information to back up
12:13your exist so you can feel like crypto
12:15as a smart investment that check they
12:16use on TV doesn't even work they go to
12:18the bank and the bank slam to piss off
12:19and the only thing worse than social
12:21media of how it's messing up how we see
12:23the world and everything within it is
12:24the current state of misinformation on
12:26podcasts and if you want to understand
12:28the downfall modern podcast and you'll
12:30have to watch the video I made about it
12:32right here if you've already seen that
12:33video thanks for watching bye-bye
