2:29>> said we got the vets in the building?
2:31>> Exactly. The vets. Period. Vets in the
2:35building. Welcome back again. Thank
2:38y'all again for being here. We just pray
2:40and just thank y'all for coming because
2:42y'all are a blessing to us. And is this
2:45anyone's first Bible study ever? Like
2:48you have never went to an in-person
2:50Bible study. You've never been to an
2:52online bible study. You like, I saw
2:54Kitty and I'm about to check out this
2:56Bible study and see what it's about.
2:58Welcome.
3:00Okay. First time ever. Welcome. Well,
3:03first time Bible study ever in my life.
3:06Oh my goodness. Shout out to all of you
3:09guys who are saying this is your first
3:10Bible study. Thank you for the Lord
3:12leading you to us and just trusting us.
3:15We just definitely pray that you're
3:17edified. I know Kitty is going to be
3:19amazing. And yes, happy Veterans Day. Is
3:23there anyone drop it in the chat if you
3:25served, if your family served a loved
3:27one, like we thank you for your service
3:31because baby, not everybody can do it.
3:33And right here out of my mouth, Lord
3:35knows I cannot do it. So we honor you.
3:38We thank you. We praise God for you
3:40doing. Hey veterans. Yes.
3:43I promise you. I just thank God for you
3:46because Air Force, Army, hallelujah.
3:50Navy, like come on. Like that's not a
3:53that's nothing to play with. So we we
3:56really thank you for your service. We
3:57praise God for you. We just pray that
3:59God always um covers you and protects
4:02you every time you have to step there.
4:04British Army, I don't care where you are
4:06serving, we thank you for serving. We we
4:10love you and we thank you so much for
4:12all that you do for wherever you serve
4:14and any family member as well. So, happy
4:17Veterans Day to you all. Um, and we love
4:20you and we thank you. So, welcome again
4:22and we praise the Lord and yeah, so
4:26thank you. [laughter]
4:31>> Ah, everybody. Hello. Hello. Hello. We
4:34got study today. Look, we were going to
4:36attempt to read the full chapter of 12,
4:38but we said absolutely not. In Exodus,
4:41we were not going to read this whole
4:43thing. Uh, y'all do me a favor. Try not
4:44to raise your hands right now. I will
4:47try to get to the questions, but I am
4:49easily distracted. [laughter]
4:51I'm easily distracted. So, when I see
4:54stuff like that, I just like I'll start
4:56looking off to that side and thinking
4:58about messages that I need to respond
5:00to. So, just try not to raise y'all
5:01hands on Zoom for me, but I see you all
5:04in the chat. And of course, I know
5:05Beverly typically addresses the chat.
5:08Um, does everybody have the physical
5:10Bibles before we start? Before we even
5:12get into it, does everyone have their
5:13physical Bibles? Y'all know how I feel.
5:15We know, we know, we know.
5:18>> Let's make sure you have them. Go ahead
5:20and lift up. Lift up.
5:23>> All right. Okay. All right. We know it.
5:27So, we know we don't play about the
5:28physical Bibles, right? We want to make
5:30sure that we have the physical Bible.
5:32This is your word. This is your
5:33guidance. This is your armor. This is
5:36your sword. This is the knowledge. This
5:38is your wisdom. This is God right here.
5:40We have them like right here. So,
5:42whenever we have moments of doubt worry.
5:44Um, whenever we're in a hard season, we
5:46have the word of God that revives us and
5:49gives us strength and encourages us. So,
5:50we want to make sure it gives us
5:51confidence. We want to make sure that we
5:53have the word of God with us everywhere
5:54that we go. Just carry the word of God,
5:56which who cares about what people have
5:57to say? cares about what everyone has to
5:59say, right? Doesn't matter. Okay. Yes, I
6:02see some of y'all. I actually I've been
6:04seeing a number of you all. I've been
6:06having the pleasure of meeting you all.
6:08So, [laughter] thank you for those who
6:10I've been meeting. It's been great. Uh
6:12y'all, I'm I'm trying to level myself
6:14out cuz today has been a really really
6:15really busy day. So, I'm It's just been
6:18a busy weekend. I had four shows this
6:19weekend. I'm still trying to level out
6:21from going from the West Coast to the
6:22East Coast to Central, back to the East
6:25Coast. I'm just kind of all over the
6:26place mentally. So, y'all bear with me
6:28today. Hope and pray I don't stumble
6:30across any words, but it sometimes it
6:32takes a moment for me to gather myself.
6:34And I haven't had enough days to really
6:36get enough rest. So, just work with me
6:38here, okay? Just just work with me here,
6:41okay? Um, once again, try not to raise
6:43your hands over here. I don't know if
6:44you're accidentally pushing that, but
6:45just try not to do that. Um, so we'll be
6:48in NLT,
6:50King James Version, and the Message
6:52Bible. We're going to do some back and
6:54forth just because there certain terms
6:55and words that we want to identify and
6:57go over. Uh I'm sure you all are
6:59probably familiar is before I even say
7:01this is there anyone who is new to
7:04Christ, anyone who is new to God, anyone
7:07who's like a babe in this and really
7:10trying to come to understand who God is.
7:12Well, glory be to God. I thank you all.
7:14For all of you all who are new,
7:16absolutely I love it. I am excited. I'm
7:19hoping that I can give you all something
7:21to work with.
7:23>> And I should have got him some water.
7:25>> You know, you know
7:28>> you playing.
7:29>> I did. I was I was I was playing. I did.
7:32I did. [laughter]
7:35I was playing. So y'all, um I do want to
7:37tell you all, like I said, if you don't,
7:39if you can, if you can't, absolutely
7:41fine. It doesn't matter. We We It
7:42doesn't matter. But if you all can get a
7:44Bible that has a map in it, it would be
7:46absolutely wonderful because once we get
7:48through the full chapter of 12, we are
7:50going all the way through Genesis.
7:52>> And this we're actually studying y'all.
7:54So, I'm not going to just be telling
7:55y'all stuff just to have fun and make
7:57y'all feel good and make y'all smile
7:58tonight and then going about your week.
7:59No, I want this to actually carry on
8:01with you all because when we get to
8:03fully understanding who Christ Jesus is,
8:06you're going to have to understand
8:07Exodus to begin with and you're
8:09definitely going to have to understand
8:10the first Passover. Okay. Is there
8:13anyone who's never heard of the first
8:14Passover? Is there anyone who's never
8:17heard of the first Passover? Anyone
8:20here?
8:22Okay, that's fine. And and we're not
8:23judging you. We are not We are not
8:25judging you. We're here to teach. Okay,
8:27this is fellowship. We are all here to
8:30learn, right? We are all here to learn.
8:33Okay?
8:35And that's okay. Uh, so yes, we're going
8:37to be in NLT, um, King James Version and
8:42the Message Bible, primarily through
8:43NLT. That's the Bible that me and
8:45Beverly are in a lot. Just kind of give
8:47you all a heads up if y'all don't
8:49haven't learned that yet. That's the one
8:50we're usually in a lot is NLT. It's it's
8:53a really good, easy read. Um, to me
8:56personally, it's closest to New King
8:58James Version, which is closest to the
9:00King James version. Uh, but I know a lot
9:02of times we don't want to be hearing
9:04certain words like shalt and and all
9:06that shall and thine. I know y'all don't
9:08want to hear that all the time, right?
9:09So, I don't want to sound like old
9:11Englishman. No disrespect, but I'm just
9:12saying. I know a lot of times it's
9:13really hard for people to understand,
9:14but I keep that thing on me so y'all
9:16understand. We keep the King James
9:18version for reference, okay? I just
9:20always want to say I have two of them in
9:21front of me right now. It's really good
9:23to have that study Bible because it
9:25breaks a lot of things down, especially
9:26if you have the truth and action Bibles.
9:28Okay? Uh, this one's going to be simple
9:31today. It's going to be called the first
9:33Passover. This gonna be real simple.
9:36[laughter] It's going to be real simple,
9:37right? Yeah. LIKE, BUT WHAT WE GONNA GET
9:39FROM IT? OH, trust me, you gonna get
9:40something. But it it's simple. The first
9:42Passover. Cuz I want y'all to
9:45>> Yeah, that's the title.
9:47>> It's going to be simple. Okay.
9:49So, we'll um we'll go into
9:51[clears throat] it with prayer. We are
9:53in Exodus. So, y'all can have it before
9:55we go in prayer. We are in Exodus 12:es
9:591-13.
10:02Exodus 12:es
10:051-13. Say amen when y'all have that
10:08scripture. Exodus 12:es
10:111-13.
10:13Amen. Amen. Glory be to God.
10:16>> Can everyone hear us? Okay. Um on
10:18YouTube, can you guys hear us? Okay. In
10:21the Zoom, can you hear us? Okay. I just
10:24want to make sure you guys can all hear
10:25us, okay? Because someone said they were
10:27having sound issues, so I want to make
10:28sure it's not on our end. Everyone can
10:30hear us. Okay. So, you may have to just
10:32go out and come back in, love, who um
10:34you said you're having sound issues.
10:36Sorry, Kitty. Just want to make sure
10:37they can hear us.
10:38>> No, you're good. You're good. You're
10:39good. Give me a sec.
10:43Give me a second cuz my son just came
10:45and start beating on the door. It's
10:48Jesus [laughter] Christ. nephew.
10:50>> It's definitely Christian. Okay,
10:53>> he's trying.
10:55>> Never mind. It was definitely Christian.
10:57>> Okay,
10:58>> y'all. Sorry about that.
11:00>> Wait a second. Let me get
11:05>> Okay, it's Christian meeting his fear.
11:07Okay,
11:10[laughter]
11:11it was him meeting his fear. Okay,
11:12y'all. Sorry about that. We're just
11:14waiting to kind of get that settled.
11:16>> No, baby boy. Hey.
11:19>> All right, let's go ahead and get into
11:21it. Look,
11:22>> that's so funny.
11:23>> You already know what that was about.
11:24You know what he saw.
11:25>> I do.
11:29[laughter]
11:30>> All right. So, um Yeah. So, we'll go
11:32ahead and start prayer. Um y'all, we're
11:37trying to do better with this because we
11:38know our prayers be going a long time.
11:41>> Yeah.
11:42>> You know, when the spirit of the Lord is
11:43moving, sometimes it's kind of hard. But
11:45we're going to go ahead and go and lead
11:47into Is there any way I can I can turn
11:49this hand raising thing off?
11:51>> It's going to run me insane.
11:53>> Oh,
11:54>> I don't know if [clears throat] anyone
11:55knows how to turn it off on Zoom. Please
11:57let me know because I I need to make
11:58sure that I could
11:59>> I think you Sorry, I was trying to see
12:01if I Oh, yeah. I think there's a way in
12:03your settings actually. Hold on.
12:05>> Okay, I'll make sure that I do that
12:06because that I I'm just easily
12:08distracted and it's been a really long
12:09day, so it's really going to distract
12:10me.
12:11>> Okay, y'all. So, I'll figure it out. Go
12:13ahead. No.
12:15>> Okay. I'm gonna make sure that I'll do
12:17that because that's that's a major
12:18distraction for me. Okay, y'all. So,
12:21yeah, we're going to prayer. Um, it was
12:24something I was going to ask you all,
12:26but I I'll make sure that I I ask you
12:28all a little bit later cuz I I I know
12:30it'll come back to me, but it was
12:31something I was going to ask. It was
12:32actually important. Um,
12:36oh, it'll come back to me in a minute.
12:37Let's go ahead and get started, though.
12:39Okay, we'll go ahead and get started.
12:41Are you trying to figure it out, Bill?
12:43Yes. Um, which I think I just
12:48But you want me to pray or are you
12:50praying?
12:51>> Uh, I I'll go into I'll lead in prayer.
12:53Okay.
12:54>> Yeah, I'll lead in prayer. I think
12:55that'll help kind of settle my brain a
12:57little bit if I go into prayer.
12:58>> Yeah, absolutely.
12:59>> Kind of all over the place.
13:01>> Okay, y'all. So, Father God, we come to
13:04you now
13:06in reverence and gratitude, Father God,
13:09remembering how you have led us out of
13:13trying moments and how you have been
13:14with us in the moments where we felt
13:16doubtful and where we felt anxious,
13:17Father God. And I am asking for clarity.
13:19I am asking for a calmness and a peace
13:22in my spirit, Father God, as I lead your
13:24servants and your disciples and your
13:26children in this study, Father God. And
13:28we thank you for bringing us together in
13:29this fellowship, Father God. That we may
13:31be able to glorify your name and
13:33understand you, Father God, as we
13:35understand that Bible study is for us to
13:37comprehend you, Father God, and grow
13:39closer and more intimate with you,
13:40Father God. And we thank you for the
13:42blood of Jesus that has never lost his
13:44power, Father God. We thank you for the
13:46lamb, for under your blood is our
13:47salvation, Father God. And we thank you
13:49for the greater lamb, Jesus Christ,
13:51whose blood covers us now and has
13:53covered us then, Father God. And we
13:55thank you, Father God, that his blood
13:56has covered us even when the enemy has
13:58tried to attack us even when the enemy
14:00has tempted us, Father God. That the
14:02blood has still managed to protect us,
14:04Father God. And we thank you for the
14:05everlasting blood, Father God. We thank
14:07you for always being faithful, God. We
14:09thank you for your goodness. We thank
14:10you for your wholeness, Father God. We
14:13thank you right now, Father God, that
14:14there is someone in this room right now.
14:16There is someone in this study right
14:17now, Father God, who does not have a
14:19peace, Father God. There is someone
14:21right now, Father God, who is in a spe a
14:22season of doubt, Father God. There is
14:24someone right now, Father God, who is
14:26facing the agenda of the enemy, Father
14:28God. And I'm praying that the
14:29intercessors come together and that they
14:30touch and agree, Father God, and claim
14:32victory over that person's life, Father
14:34God. For we know that under you we are
14:36victorious and that we are conquerors,
14:38Father God. There has been turmoil,
14:40Father God. We have seen judgment,
14:41Father God. We are seeing fear. We are
14:44seeing confusion in this day and time.
14:45And we thank you, Father God, for
14:47distinguishing your people as you did in
14:49Israel and Egypt. Father God, when you
14:51distinguish your people and set them
14:52apart in the time of go, Father God, and
14:55we thank you for your go of grace and
14:57protection, provision, Father God, of
14:59peace, covering, and promise, Father
15:01God. We thank you for covering us,
15:03Father God, as you have passed over the
15:05houses, Father God, in the time of
15:07judgment in Egypt, Father God, even with
15:09the Israelites, Father God, that you
15:10gave them instruction, Father God, and
15:12they were obedient. Not only that they
15:14have faith, God, but they were obedient,
15:16Father God. and let our faith and
15:18obedience reflect what we have witnessed
15:20in the Bible, God, knowing that you have
15:22given us the ultimate lamb, Father God,
15:24that you have paid for our sins, Father
15:27God. You have given the life for a life,
15:29knowing that if it was not for the grace
15:31of you, Father God, if it wasn't for the
15:33mercy, if it wasn't for the blood of the
15:35one true Passover lamb, Father God, that
15:38we would not be here in this moment,
15:39Father God. And we thank you for paying
15:41a high price, Father God. Knowing that
15:44the enemy has lost his legal right,
15:46Father God, to condemn us, knowing that
15:48we are justified by the blood, Father
15:50God, and that Jesus died that he may
15:52save us, Father God. And we thank you
15:54for that salvation, Father God. We thank
15:56you for loving us. We thank you for
15:58giving us a mediator, Father God, that
16:00we may be able to connect with you, for
16:02bringing down your power in humanity
16:05that we may be able to witness it.
16:07Father God, we thank you for your power,
16:09Father God. We thank you for stopping
16:10the destruction that the enemy has
16:12assigned toward us, Father God. We thank
16:14you for stopping the death that the
16:16enemy wants to place on us, Father God.
16:18We thank you for lifting the judgment on
16:21your chosen people, Father God. And we
16:23acknowledge that within this redemption,
16:25Father God, that it's not just it's not
16:27just a reflection of your intellect,
16:29Father God, but it's also a reflection
16:31of the true lamb, Father God. And there
16:34is no way that we can thank you, Father
16:36God, other than serving you, Father God.
16:37And so I pray that everyone who is in
16:39this study right now, Father God, serve
16:41you for the rest of their days. Father
16:42God, I pray that everyone in this study
16:45hold up your decrees, your regulations,
16:47your commandments, Father God, as you
16:49have commanded them to do so, Father
16:51God. I pray that everyone in this room
16:53right now has prayed and loved their
16:55neighbor as we have been commanded to do
16:57so, Father God. And we thank you right
16:59now for breaking us from this bondage,
17:01from breaking us from these
17:02relationships that were not for us, for
17:04breaking us from the bondage of
17:05addiction, Father God. for breaking us
17:07from any addiction of porn, whether it
17:09be of medicine, whether it be of drugs,
17:12whether it be of people, Father God. And
17:14we thank you for showing us that our
17:16dependence need to lie on you, Father
17:18God. And I am calling out anyone who is
17:20struggling with any sin, any shame, any
17:23fear, any idolatry, any confusion, any
17:25generational curses, any patterns, any
17:27spirits of the new age, Father God. I am
17:29calling them out that they may find you,
17:31Father God, in this moment, Father God,
17:33and they may surrender, Father God, to
17:35you, Father God, knowing that you will
17:36give them a clearance, Father God, that
17:38you will restore them and redeem them as
17:41you have done in the times of Exodus,
17:43Father God. And I am covering this time
17:45right now, Father God, that everyone may
17:47find a word in this right now, Father
17:49God, knowing that your blood, Father
17:51God, the blood that Jesus has shed,
17:53Father God, is stronger than any agenda,
17:56Father God. And I am calling out the
17:58enemy right now. I am calling against
18:00the enemy right now. I am calling
18:02against his agenda. I am calling against
18:04his minions. I am calling against the
18:06principalities. I am calling against the
18:08forces that we have not seen. The forces
18:10that we cannot see, Father God. And I am
18:12calling and I am decreeing and declaring
18:14under the sound of Christ, under Christ
18:17Jesus, under the blood of Christ, under
18:19the name of Jesus Christ right now, that
18:21the blood will purify and sanctify his
18:24people. and that the blood will purify
18:27anyone who is struggling right now,
18:29Father God. And that you will cast out
18:31any demon that has been assigned to your
18:34children right now, FATHER GOD. CAST IT
18:36out in the mighty name of Jesus right
18:38now, Father God. Cast it out in the
18:40blood of Jesus right now, Father God.
18:41Let the intercessors meet right now,
18:43Father God. And cover the children.
18:46COVER THOSE WHO ARE chosen by you. COVER
18:48THOSE WHO are adopted by you, Father
18:50God. And if anyone feels lost right now,
18:52that they may be able to find you, God.
18:54And I thank you right now for bringing
18:56us together, God. And I worship and I
18:58honor and I give you praise right now,
19:00Father. I cover us in this study right
19:02now. Cover us on this journey right now.
19:05Cover us in this time of confusion.
19:07Cover us in this sadness. Cover [snorts]
19:10us in this agony. Cover us in this pain,
19:13Father God. For we know that only you
19:15may be able to cover us, Father God. AND
19:17WE KNOW THE COST OF REDEMPTION, Father
19:19God. I ask that the blood protects the
19:21homes right now and the families and the
19:23children and our minds right now, God,
19:26and our hearts right now while we face
19:28what the systems are doing and the
19:30shutdown, Father God, that you would
19:31deliver us because you are a delivering,
19:34redemptive, restoring God, the God of
19:37love, the God of grace, the God of
19:39mercy, the God of power, the God of
19:41sovereignty, Father God. And we know
19:43that we are covered right now, Father
19:45God. And I declare this with gratitude
19:47that we are covered, Father God. That we
19:49are redeemed, that we are rescued, and
19:51that we belong to you. In a mighty and
19:53matchless name, we pray. Amen. Amen.
19:56Again, all right, let's get into the
19:58word of God. I think I got my mind clear
20:01now. I think I have some type of even
20:03though it's still
20:05>> If you go to click on at the bottom of
20:08Zoom, click on particip someone said,
20:11and click more. You should see I can't
20:14see it on my side. I don't see it on
20:15mine. I don't see participants anymore.
20:18Let me see. Hold on. Give me a second.
20:19Y'all give us one. No, I don't see it.
20:23>> No, I don't see it.
20:25>> Okay.
20:25>> I don't hear. I don't know.
20:27>> Okay.
20:27>> Yeah, it's cool. We'll figure it out.
20:29>> Figure it out. Yeah,
20:30>> we'll figure it out. Yeah, it's cool.
20:31It's cool. Probably should have took me
20:33serum before we started. Let's go,
20:34y'all. So, Bev, I'm gonna actually let
20:36you read uh NLP first.
20:39>> Okay. then um I'll follow behind you and
20:43just tell everyone what to highlight,
20:44what to underline and stuff like that.
20:48>> Yeah.
20:49>> All right. So, we are coming from Exodus
20:5412 starting at verse one and I'm going
20:58to retire at verse 13.
21:02The Passover. While the Israelites were
21:05still in the land of Egypt, the Lord
21:08gave the following instructions to Moses
21:11and Aaron. From now on, this month will
21:14be the first month of the year for you.
21:18Announce to the whole community of
21:20Israel that on the 10th day of this
21:23month, each family must choose a lamb or
21:26a young goat for a sacrifice, one animal
21:30for each household. If a family is too
21:33small to eat a whole animal, let them
21:37share with another family in the
21:40neighborhood. Divide the animal
21:42according to the size of each family and
21:45how much they can eat. The animal you
21:48select must be a one-year-old male,
21:51either a sheep or a goat with no defect.
21:54Take a spe take special care of this
21:57chosen animal until the evening of the
22:0014th day
22:04of the first of this first month.
22:08>> Then the whole assembly of the community
22:11of Israel must slaughter their lamb or
22:15young goat at twilight. They are to take
22:18some of the blood and smear it on the
22:21sides and the top of the door frames of
22:24the houses where they eat the animal.
22:27That same night, they must roast the
22:30meat over a fire and eat it along with
22:32bitter salad greens and bread made
22:36without yeast. Do not eat any of the
22:39meal raw or boiled in water. The whole
22:42animal, including the head, legs, and
22:45internal organs, must be roasted over a
22:48fire. Do not leave any of it until the
22:52next morning. Burn whatever is not eaten
22:55before morning.
22:57The these are your instructions for
22:59eating this meal. Be fully dressed, wear
23:03your sandals, and carry your walking
23:05stick in your hand. Eat the meal with
23:09urgency, for this is the Lord's
23:12Passover. On that night, I will pass
23:15through the land of Egypt and strike
23:17down every firstborn son and firstborn
23:22male in the land of Egypt. I will
23:24execute judgment
23:27against all the gods of Egypt, for I am
23:30the Lord. Verse 13. But the blood on
23:34your doorpost will serve as a sign,
23:37marking the houses where you are
23:39staying. When I see the blood, I will
23:42pass over you. This plague of death will
23:45not touch you when I strike the land of
23:48Egypt.
23:48>> Amen. Amen. Okay.
23:53Where uh let's see. Do I want to read
23:55this first? I'm going to read it briefly
23:58in the message bible just so I can make
24:00sure that we have a full breakdown and
24:02I'm going to tell y'all exactly what the
24:04highlight underline and I'm going to
24:06reference just a couple of verses in the
24:08King James version to help y'all better
24:10understand this. Okay. Okay. So, let me
24:12just read it in message. It's going to
24:13be quick. Y'all know how message the
24:15message Bible is. It's quick. Straight
24:17to the points. Little gangster. Okay.
24:18God said God said to Moses and Aaron
24:21while still in Egypt, "This month is to
24:24be the first month of the year for you.
24:26Address the whole community of Israel,
24:28tell them that on the 10th of this
24:29month, each man is to take a lamb for
24:31his family, one lamb to a house. If the
24:34family is too small for a lamb, then
24:36share it with a close neighbor depending
24:38on the number of persons involved. Be
24:40mindful of how much each person will
24:41eat. Your lamb must be a healthy male,
24:44one year old. You can select it from
24:46either the sheep or the goats. These are
24:49actually really used interchangeably
24:50more time in a lot of cultures. Keep it
24:52pinned until the 14th day of this month
24:54and then slaughter it. The entire
24:56community of Israel would do this at
24:58dusk. Then take some of the blood and
25:01smear it on the two doorposts and the
25:02lentil of the houses in which you will
25:05eat it. You are to eat the meat roasted
25:07in fire that night along with bread made
25:10without yeast and bitter herbs. Don't
25:12eat any of it raw or boiled in water.
25:15Make sure it's roasted. the whole
25:17animal, heads, legs, and inards. Don't
25:19leave any of it until morning. If there
25:21were leftovers, burn them in the fire.
25:23And here is how you are to eat it. Be
25:25fully dressed with your sanders on and
25:27your stick in your hand. Eat it in a
25:29hurry. It's the Passover to God. I will
25:32go through the land of Egypt on this
25:34night and strike down every firstborn in
25:36the land of Egypt, whether human or
25:37animal, and bring judgment on all the
25:39gods of Egypt. I am God. The blood will
25:42serve as a sign on the houses where you
25:44live. When I see the blood, I will pass
25:47over you. No disaster will touch you
25:50when I strike the land of Egypt. Okay,
25:52back in NLT. I hope that we understand
25:55the different translations. I don't know
25:58what translation y'all are in. I'm in
26:00NLT. Just kind of follow me and I'll try
26:02to guide you all on what I what I feel
26:04like is best for you all to highlight.
26:06Uh, first things first, verse three.
26:10Verse three. A lot of times people don't
26:12under many of us we don't understand
26:14God's logic. We just we don't. But one
26:17thing we do know and me and Beverly were
26:19talking about this is when God gives
26:21instructions,
26:24>> it is a purpose and a reason why he gave
26:27such detailed instructions.
26:30[gasps]
26:30>> It don't matter what the instruction is.
26:32I don't care if God tell you to put on a
26:33red dress. It is a reason why.
26:36>> Come on.
26:38It is a reason why God has given you
26:41that instruction. And we won't never
26:43understand God's logic.
26:45>> Right?
26:46>> That's that's why when people say the
26:48God of your own understanding, I'm never
26:49going to understand that because we
26:51don't understand God's logic. And a lot
26:53of times we're very illogical.
26:56>> So I that's for another day. Anywh who
26:58[clears throat] verse three, announce it
27:00to the whole community of Israel that on
27:01the 10th day of this month,
27:04>> each family must choose a lamb or a
27:06young goat for a sacrifice, one [snorts]
27:09animal for each household. Underline,
27:12highlight whatever you need to announce
27:14to the whole community of Israel that on
27:16the 10th day
27:18that on the 10th day of this month, Lord
27:22Jesus, each family must choose a lamb or
27:26a young goat for a sacrifice. Highlight
27:27that. We're going to talk about this
27:30this 10th day and this 14th day.
27:32Highlight that. Okay. Go down a little
27:36bit to verse five
27:39and highlight that verse. The animal you
27:42select must be a one-year-old male.
27:46Must be an innocent male.
27:50>> A oneyear-old male. either a sheep or a
27:54goat with no defects
27:58must be a healthy, innocent, without
28:02blemish
28:03one-year-old male. Either a sheep or a
28:07goat lamb. We just going to say lamb.
28:10Okay.
28:13Verse six. I want y'all to highlight
28:16verse six. Okay. The first thing you
28:18will highlight is verse three.
28:21The third verse I want you all to
28:22highlight is verse six. Take special
28:25care. This is in NLT. You alls may be
28:28different depending on your translation.
28:29Take special care of this chosen animal
28:33until the evening of the 14th day of
28:37this first month.
28:39Y'all highlight that.
28:42Y'all highlight that. Okay.
28:46Go down a little bit to verse seven.
28:51They are to take some of the blood.
28:55They are to take some of the blood and
28:58smear it on the sides in the top of the
29:00door frames
29:02of the houses where they eat the animal.
29:05Y'all got that highlighted? Amen.
29:08Mhm. Come down a little bit. It's really
29:1311b that I want you all to highlight.
29:14Verse 11b is the second part of verse
29:1711. So if y'all ever hear me say AB,
29:18that's in parts. So 11B, the second
29:21verse of 11, well, the second part of
29:2311, verse 11. Eat the meal with urgency,
29:26for this is the Lord's Passover.
29:30Eat the meal with urgency, for this is
29:32the Lord's Passover. Highlight verse 12
29:35and 13. Okay. On that night, I will pass
29:38through the land of Egypt and strike
29:39down every firstborn son and firstborn
29:42male animal in the land of Egypt. I will
29:45execute judgment against all the gods of
29:48Egypt, for I am the Lord. I He didn't
29:50say, I'm going to execute judgment
29:52against Pharaoh.
29:54>> He said, I'm going to execute judgment
29:57against all the gods of Egypt.
30:00>> Okay, it's okay if you can't highlight.
30:02That's fine, baby. Take care, baby. WE
30:04GOT YOU. YOU PUTTING IT IN YOUR HEART.
30:05That's good. Verse 13, highlight this.
30:08But the blood on your doorpost will
30:09serve as a sign marking the houses where
30:12you are staying. When I see the blood,
30:15just highlight and underline that. When
30:18I see the blood, highlight that and
30:21underline that. That's going to be
30:22extremely important once we get to the
30:23end of the study.
30:25>> When I see,
30:27okay, when I see the blood, I will pass
30:31over you. This plague of death will not
30:34touch you when I strike the land of
30:35Egypt. Let's talk about what this first
30:37Passover is to begin with. We know now
30:39that this is the 10th plague.
30:41These plagues have gotten increasingly
30:43worse. And this is the final. We're at
30:46the climax. Now,
30:48what we're going to see in chapter 12 is
30:51God detailed being detailed in his
30:53instructions for the first Passover.
30:55Very, very, very detailed. Okay. This is
30:58when we see God's judgment passes over
31:01Israel
31:03because of the blood of the lamb.
31:08We had different judgments. We had
31:10different plagues. This is going to be
31:12the final one. This is going to be the
31:14climax. This is Yes. Right. We know,
31:16right? Okay. We know. Exactly. It's
31:18foreshadowing for Jesus. This is the
31:20reason why I say we go from Exodus to
31:22Genesis. Y'all know this is the reason
31:24why we're going back and forth before we
31:26get to Luke because we have to
31:27understand the significance of Jesus.
31:29This is why I never tell anybody to just
31:30go and read the New Testament. You need
31:33to understand the precious lamb. You
31:35need to understand the Passover lamb.
31:37You need to understand who Jesus Christ
31:38is by understanding the first Passover.
31:41If you don't, you going to be confused
31:43when you go back and then you'll have to
31:45read this Bible all over again. Okay?
31:47So, this is a moment where God's
31:49judgment passes over Israel because of
31:52the blood of the lamb. Okay? The thing
31:55about this judgment was this judgment
31:58was for everybody.
32:00This judgment was for I want y'all to
32:02listen to me.
32:03>> Yes.
32:03>> This judgment was for everybody. This
32:05was for the Egyptians and the Israelites
32:07alike in this judgment. This was for
32:10everybody. I'm passing through a
32:12judgment and God gave instruction. He
32:14gave simple instruction. Okay, I'm going
32:18to get to that part in just a minute.
32:19Okay, so let's talk about why did this
32:21Passover take place to begin with?
32:23Because a lot of people don't understand
32:24that time. They don't they don't
32:25understand why the Passover took place
32:27to begin with. They don't understand why
32:28people still celebrate the Passover now.
32:31In each plague that we witness in
32:33Exodus, in each plague, y'all know from
32:35the frogs to the hail storm to the the
32:38everything, everything. In each plague,
32:41God revealed his power over Egypt's
32:44gods. And a lot of time, people think
32:46this is just God being mean towards
32:47Pharaoh. No. God was at war with the
32:49things that we could not see.
32:52>> God was at war with what Egypt was
32:55idolizing, with the gods that they were
32:57trying to put over God. He was at war
32:58with those gods.
33:00the same way we we deal with spirits and
33:02stuff and all that. Okay. Okay. So, he
33:05was he was revealing his power over
33:08Egypt's gods. And the Passover was him
33:11demonstrating his justice. Okay? It was
33:15him demonstrating his justice
33:18in order for them to reach this Exodus
33:20and be redeemed and rescued. Because
33:23redemption just pretty much means
33:24rescued. That's the easiest way for us
33:26to put it. In order for him for them to
33:28have been redeemed, there had to have
33:30been some type of sacrifice. And this
33:33Passover was God showing his justice and
33:36that he has the right to judge. That's
33:38in Exodus 12:12. Okay. Uhhuh.
33:44In order for them to have been
33:45delivered,
33:47there had to be obedience.
33:49>> Like I said, this this judgment was for
33:51everybody. And God gave instruction. And
33:54what was his instruction? The main
33:56instruction that we saw, I ain't worried
33:57about everything else, the clothes and
33:58stuff. We'll get to that. The main
34:01instruction was to take the blood
34:03>> Mhm.
34:04>> of an innocent one-year-old healthy lamb
34:08without blemish
34:11and to go over the sides of the door and
34:14the top lentil. That was the main
34:17instruction.
34:18So he would pass over. So the angel of
34:21death was not going to take their
34:22firstborn sons or the firstborn the
34:25firstborn males. It wasn't going to take
34:27them there. The angel of death wasn't
34:29going to get them. They were not going
34:30to die. The sons were as a result of
34:33that. But there had to be obedience. So
34:36if if anybody didn't put blood
34:39if anybody didn't put the blood of the
34:41lamb, if anybody was not covered by the
34:44blood of the lamb, if they didn't have
34:46the blood of the lamb on the doorpost
34:48and the lentils, not on just two
34:50doorposts where God told them to put it,
34:53they were going to see that death angel.
34:56>> They were going to see that death angel.
34:58So let's talk about let's get into what
35:00the Passover is characterized. This is
35:02the main thing that is characterized is
35:04selecting a lamb.
35:07>> I know y'all have heard people call
35:09Jesus Christ the lamb of God. I know
35:11y'all have heard people call Jesus the
35:13precious lamb. I know y'all have c heard
35:15people call Jesus the Passover lamb. And
35:17a lot of times people didn't even know
35:19why they called him that. I've seen
35:20people say, "Well, he's the lamb because
35:22lamb's blood is the antidote to to what
35:26do they say? The snakes." No, we need to
35:28go deeper than that. We need to know a
35:29little bit more than that. I don't care
35:30what Tik Tok is talking about.
35:32>> Okay.
35:34In order for a sacrifice to take place
35:37in this text, there had to be a life for
35:39a life. There had to be a life for a
35:43life. The innocent lamb was slain in
35:46place of the firstborn.
35:49It died in place of the firstborn.
35:54The lamb, the blood of the lamb was the
35:56only thing that stopped judgment. Let me
35:58let me just say that again because I
36:00know a lot of y'all like, "Oh, oh,
36:02Jesus." Uhhuh. I want to yell Jesus,
36:04too. The blood was the only thing that
36:07stopped judgment. Come on, somebody. And
36:09act like we know. Y'all know how God is.
36:12God is so strategic. Just my God. Right.
36:15>> Yes.
36:16>> His blood was the only thing that
36:18stopped judgment.
36:21And the lamb represented life traded for
36:24life.
36:27>> Let's go back. Let's scale back a little
36:28bit cuz I want to I want y'all to see
36:30the order of this Passover to
36:32understand. I want y'all to see how
36:33strategic God is. That's why I say it
36:35can never be another God.
36:36>> And we can never under God is so
36:38majestic. We just simply
36:42we just we just simply can't sometimes
36:43we just can't understand. But he makes
36:45it very plain. It says in verse two,
36:48"From now on, this month will be the
36:50first month of the year for you."
36:52>> This is verse two.
36:56God said that this deliverance from
36:59Egypt was so significant.
37:02It was such a significant act of God
37:06that he told the children of Israel to
37:08remake their calendar. We going to start
37:09over. Start over. He said, "We're going
37:13to reset. We going to start this all the
37:15way over."
37:18So, what we see is the new year will now
37:21start with the month of their redemption
37:23from Egypt. Let me say that again. The
37:26new year would now start with the month
37:29of their redemption from Egypt.
37:32It was a dramatic way for God to say
37:34that everything is about to change. I'm
37:37about to drop the pen cuz God going to
37:39show out.
37:40>> Come on.
37:40>> This was Look, if if it's if it's a
37:43drama, I love I love a God drama. I love
37:45a good God drama. God said, "Let me be a
37:48little dramatic." He said, "Everything
37:50is about to change."
37:52>> Yes.
37:53I'm about to redeem you.
37:56>> See, at first we saw that God promised.
37:58He made a promise. I will rescue you
38:00from bondage. Now, we see that I will in
38:03full effect. He said everything's about
38:05to change. It's a reset. Now, this is a
38:08reset. Okay, that we got that verse two,
38:11right? We got that. Announce to the
38:13whole community of Israel that on the
38:1510th day of this month, each family must
38:18choose a lamb
38:19>> or a young goat for a sacrifice. one
38:22animal for each household. On the 10th
38:24day of this first month, each family
38:27household will take a lamb.
38:30Now, what we see there, there's a
38:31difference right here. We see he said,
38:33"Now, on the 10th day, I want you to
38:35take a lamb."
38:37>> But then he goes down and says, "And on
38:40the 14th day of this first month of this
38:43first month, on the 14th day,
38:45>> y'all gonna come together and y'all
38:47going to slaughter this lamb at
38:48twilight."
38:50>> Slaughter. We got the 10th day to the
38:5314th day. I wanna I want to make sure
38:56that y'all are just just follow me for a
38:59second. Okay? Just follow me for a
39:02second. Okay?
39:04He said, "On the 10th day, I want you to
39:06take a lamb." Mhm.
39:09And it's going to be four days.
39:12This lamb had to be healthy to be
39:14sacrificed. Not only did this lamb have
39:16to be healthy, it had to be precious to
39:19that family. Cuz what what good is a
39:21sacrifice if you don't want it? If you
39:23don't care about it, what good is that
39:24sacrifice? Anybody can go up the
39:26mountain and sacrifice something to God
39:27and not care about it. That's easy. But
39:30I want y'all to bring this lamb in for 4
39:32days. And he said, "I want you to take
39:35special care of this chosen animal. I
39:38want you to take special care of it. I
39:41want this lamb to become a family member
39:43to you. I want you to care for this lamb
39:46up until the 14th day for four days. I
39:49want you to care for this lamb. Let this
39:51lamb become a part of your family. So by
39:54the time you sacrifice this lamb on the
39:5614th day, not only is it cherished, but
39:58you're going to mourn it. God said, "I
40:01want the sacrifice to be something
40:03precious." Now, do y'all understand
40:04where the precious lamb comes from?
40:07>> The precious lamb of God. Do y'all
40:08understand where that comes from? God
40:10said that from for 4 days I need you cuz
40:13this lamb can't be I don't just put this
40:15lamb in a corner and let this lamb be in
40:17distress and starving. I need a healthy
40:20lamb without blemish. Healthy,
40:25precious.
40:27I want this I want y'all to feed this
40:30this lamb and take good care of it. I
40:32want you to love this lamb while it's
40:34here on this earth with you. And when
40:36it's time to sacrifice it, you cherish
40:38this lamb and you will mourn it.
40:40>> Yes.
40:41>> I want the sacrifice to be something
40:43precious. Y'all y'all following me here?
40:47>> Y'all following me? Y'all working with
40:49me here? We working. We're working up.
40:52Okay. We gonna understand this Passover.
40:54All right. Good. Yeah. Come on.
40:56>> I saw that question. I'mma answer that
40:58question. That's good.
40:59>> Write it down. Write it down. Okay.
41:01>> I I'm remember it. So in verse seven,
41:04remember he said, "Take precious care of
41:06this animal."
41:09Okay. Now in verse seven, he says, "They
41:12are to take some of the blood and smear
41:14it on the sides, the doorpost and the
41:17top of the door frames, the lentil."
41:20Mhm.
41:23Sorry. Of lentil. Okay. Of the door
41:24frames of St. of the houses
41:26[clears throat] where they eat the
41:27animal. I that I highlighted way too
41:29much right here. Okay. So take some of
41:31the blood be highlighting up a storm. So
41:33take some of the blood and put it on the
41:35two doorpost and the lentil of the
41:37houses. You know what me and Beth
41:38thought was funny today. I don't we were
41:40looking at pictures today when we were
41:41studying and we were looking at that
41:43time the lentil and the doorpost and we
41:46were on a website that was explaining
41:48something that just it was amazing.
41:50Right. Y'all see it? They were talking
41:52about the corners. Have y'all seen a
41:54lentil? Um pretty much the door post.
41:58We're going to do it like this. the door
41:59post, the lentil crosses over the door
42:01post like that. Have y'all seen that?
42:03Like the the top the top part goes over
42:07two door post and they go across like
42:09this, right? Mhm. So when they would
42:13draw it, I I just thought this was
42:14insane. If you think of the doorpost, if
42:17somebody was to take the blood, they
42:20were going to go down and across. I
42:23thought that was amazing. They were
42:24going to go down
42:26the top of the lentil down and across.
42:28They were going to make a cross. And I
42:30thought that was so amazing when I saw
42:31that. I said, "My God on today."
42:33>> Yeah.
42:33>> But anyway, let's keep going. I just It
42:35just blew my mind. Right.
42:36>> Oh my god.
42:36>> So, they took some of the blood and they
42:38put it on the two doorpost in the lentil
42:40of the houses.
42:42>> Before the Passover lamb could be eaten,
42:45it blood had to be applied to the
42:48doorway of the home. Before the lamb
42:51could be eaten, the blood had to be
42:53applied
42:54to the doorway of the home to the top
42:57and upon each side.
43:00Okay?
43:02Going across. Okay? The only part of
43:05this sacrifice given to God was the
43:07blood. The rest was eaten. Let me say
43:10that again. The only sacrifice given to
43:13God was the blood. the rest was eaten by
43:16each family or it was discarded.
43:19He said, "What remains of it you shall
43:21burn with fire." Okay,
43:25we saw the same thing as we when we grow
43:27deeper into the word of God, we going to
43:29understand that the Passover and the
43:31sacrifice fulfilled in Jesus Christ, we
43:33going to understand that. Okay.
43:39Mhm. Okay.
43:43Okay. Let me start reading for a second.
43:44Let me start reading the chats cuz I I'm
43:46going get thrown off. Okay.
43:47>> Yeah. Yeah.
43:48>> So, yeah, let me let me stop reading
43:49that. Okay. So, let's talk. So, there
43:51had to be that sacrifice. Sorry, I told
43:53you I get easily distracted. That's why
43:55I don't want to see that. Okay. So,
43:57let's go. So, they had to smear it on
43:59the top of the door frames, the top of
44:01the lentil, and on the post. Mhm. That
44:05same night, they must roast the meat
44:08over a fire and eat it along with bitter
44:10salad greens. This is where I wanted to
44:12take this to King James version for a
44:14second. I did want to go back to King
44:15James version in this. I'm I'mma read a
44:18little further down, but I wanted to go
44:19here. So, the type of bitter salad
44:21greens because when we read this, we
44:23look and say, "Lord, why you talking
44:24about some greens?
44:27Why you talking Okay, you talking about
44:30they got to roast the lamb. Why we need
44:31to know they got to roast the lamb? Why
44:32why we got to know that? Why we got to
44:34know they got to eat bitter greens and
44:35and everything else?" Because everything
44:37that God puts is usually symbolic.
44:40In this time, those bitter greens that
44:42they were talking about were more than
44:43likely horseradish and dandelions. I'm
44:46not kidding when I say that. It was it
44:48was bitter. And that was symbolic of the
44:50bondage, the bitterness from the bondage
44:52of which the Israelites were suffering.
44:55Everything is symbolic in this by the
44:56way. So in the text when it comes to
44:59King James version, it says, "And ye
45:01shall eat it in haste." And ye shall eat
45:04it in haste. Everything that the that
45:09God says is symbolic. Hey, Kamora.
45:12Everything. God said what y'all have
45:14right now. I don't want you to boil it
45:16cuz it's going to take too long. I want
45:18you to roast it.
45:20>> Yeah.
45:20>> I'm very specific. I need it to be
45:23roasted quickly. I need you to eat it.
45:25If you if you still got something left
45:26over, get rid of it. And I want you to
45:28eat these bitter greens as well, cuz
45:30this is going to be symbolic.
45:33This is symbolic.
45:35You are forever going to remember the
45:37bitterness of the bondage that you were
45:38in when I rescue you. You're going to
45:41remember what I rescued you from. This
45:43is symbolic to it. I love God for his
45:46symbolisms. God is amazing. So God told
45:48them specifically, we need to eat this
45:50in haste. That means that you need to
45:52eat this with urgency.
45:55God said in his instructions, I want you
45:57to put on your clothes. He said, I want
46:00you to put on your clothes. Be fully
46:02dressed. Wear your sandals and carry
46:04your walking stick in your hand. Eat the
46:07meal with urgency for this is the Lord's
46:09Passover. The Lord is telling you this
46:12is not time to play cuz whenever I pass
46:15over and you hear this whale and cry
46:16because all of these first died, the
46:18Pharaoh is going to come for you and
46:19tell you to get out.
46:21>> You got to go.
46:22>> You can't go to sleep and take a nap.
46:24Get ready.
46:26>> He said, "Don't put no yeast in the
46:27bread cuz the yeast has to lift. We
46:29don't have time for that. Do this with
46:31urgency. Have your clothes on and your
46:34staff in your hand.
46:36>> Yes.
46:39>> The Passover lamb had to be eaten in
46:41faith.
46:44This they had to trust that this
46:47deliverance that was promised to Israel
46:49was present. That it wasn't going to be
46:52five more days and five more years from
46:53now. That this was happening now. And
46:56that you're about to walk into
46:57deliverance immediately. God said, "Get
46:59dressed. Put your clothes on.
47:02your staff, go ahead and put some food
47:03in your stomach. You gonna need that
47:05walking stick cuz we got a little while
47:06to go. You gonna need this. You gonna
47:08need some food in your belly and we're
47:10about to get ready to go. Not tomorrow,
47:13not next week, not a week from now.
47:15Right now, what you see this sacrifice
47:18that I just made, you are witnessing it
47:20right now. In your obedience, you're
47:21about to see some action h happen. So, I
47:24need you to follow me. Okay? God said to
47:27put on your clothes. That was his
47:29instructions. And we know God does not
47:31play when it comes to instructions.
47:34Okay.
47:37So, Daniel, that's a good one. That's
47:40going to be more towards Jesus and his
47:43walk. It still can reflect him, but
47:45that's going to be reflected a lot more
47:46when we get to Jesus. A lot more. Then
47:49we really can go deep into that.
47:52But the bitterness of sin, the same
47:53thing the Egyptians did it. I get that.
47:55But for that breakdown, for time reason,
47:57I'mma break that fully down when we get
47:59to Jesus. I promise you I will.
48:01[laughter]
48:02Okay, but I'm not going to skip over it.
48:03But we going to get to that. Okay. On
48:05that night I will pass through the land
48:07of Egypt. That's this is verse 12. And
48:09strike down every firstborn son and
48:11firstborn male in the land of Egypt.
48:13Remember we said that the firstborns are
48:15extremely important. We talked about
48:16that last week. They were I think the
48:17last week or the week before that they
48:18were extremely important. Let's talk
48:21about verses 12 through 13 now. Mhm.
48:24Let's talk about verses 12 through 13.
48:27Okay. God said when I see the blood. Did
48:31y'all highlight that and underline it?
48:33Like I said, God said when I see the
48:37blood,
48:39he said when I see the blood
48:43that I instructed you to put on your
48:45doorpost and your lentil, when I see the
48:48blood, I will pass over you.
48:51For Israel, this is for everybody. The
48:54judgment was coming for everybody. And
48:56he gave Moses and Aaron instruction to
48:58tell the Israelites this, excuse me,
49:02excuse me, to tell the Israelites.
49:05Everybody was supposed to know. Look,
49:07I'm not playing right now. God said, I'm
49:10serious right now. Mhm. So, he told
49:13Moses and Aaron, I want y'all to give a
49:15message. This is what I'm telling them
49:17to do. In order for Israel to be spared
49:19the judgment on the firstborn, in order
49:21for them to be spared, they had to apply
49:23the blood just as God said they should.
49:26They had to apply the blood. They had to
49:30act on it. If they had faith and
49:33believed, they still had to push it
49:35through. They had to be obedient. I hear
49:39you say, "Okay, the blood has power, but
49:42are you acting on it when I tell you to
49:45act on it?" They had to apply the blood
49:48as God instructed them to do. The blood
49:51of the lamb was essential to what God
49:54required. In order for them to have been
49:56redeemed, the blood of the lamb had to
49:59be seen where God said it was supposed
50:01TO BE PLACED. HE didn't say take the
50:03blood of the lamb and put it in a bowl.
50:05He didn't say, "I didn't tell you to do
50:07that." I said to put that on your door
50:09so I'll know that you were obedient to
50:11me and you listened and I see it. I see
50:15it for myself. He didn't say when I
50:16smell the blood. He didn't say when I
50:18think you going to put the blood on her.
50:19He said when I see the blood.
50:23So
50:25the Israelites did it, right? But if a
50:27Israelite didn't believe in the power of
50:30the blood of the lamb,
50:33let's just say let's let me let me twist
50:36this. Let's just say that an Israelite
50:39let's just say they didn't believe in
50:41the power of the blood of the lamb.
50:44Let's say they didn't believe in the
50:45power of the blood of the lamb. They
50:46could have sacrificed a lamb. They could
50:48have ate it, too.
50:51>> But they were still going to be visited
50:52by judgment.
50:53>> Yep.
50:54>> If they didn't believe in the power of
50:55the blood of the lamb,
50:57they they could have said, "Well, I'mma
50:59sacrifice it, but I don't believe that
51:00the blood has power,
51:02>> but I'mma sacrifice a lamb, and I'mma
51:04eat it." They still would have been
51:06visited by
51:06>> judgment.
51:10Let's just say that an Egyptian house
51:12did believe in the power of the lamb and
51:15the power of the blood of the lamb.
51:16Let's just say that the Egyptian
51:18household did in fact believe in the
51:21power of the blood of the lamb
51:23and they made a proper Passover
51:25sacrifice. They would have been spared
51:28if they did believe. But they believed
51:30in the pagan gods. Let's just say that
51:31they did. God said when I see it.
51:36So God said, "I don't care about the
51:39mental agreement that you have. That's
51:42not enough." God doesn't care about the
51:45mental agreement that we have. He didn't
51:47care about the mental agreement that
51:49they had with God. He didn't care about
51:52that.
51:54That was not enough. They actually had
51:57to do what God said must be done with
52:00the blood.
52:02Let me let me just repeat that for a
52:04second. They actually had to do what God
52:08said must be done
52:10with the blood.
52:13He said, "I will strike all the
52:15firstborn in the land of Egypt."
52:20Do y'all remember in Oh, man. We were
52:23just talking about this. Was it chapter
52:24four?
52:25>> Um, God when God regarded Israel as his
52:28as his firstborn. Where was it? Chapter
52:31four. It was 4 like 20 something I
52:36believe.
52:36>> 22. 422.
52:38>> 422. Yes, I think that sounds right.
52:41>> Just so y'all can see it because I know
52:42some of y'all are new to the Bible
52:43study. I know a lot of y'all been with
52:44us in Exodus already. No, I can't. Yeah,
52:48that's what it was.
52:49>> God said in Exodus 4:22,
52:52he said to Pharaoh,
52:55"Israel is my son, even my firstborn."
53:00God said, "This is my firstborn son." So
53:03God said,
53:05"Israel is my firstborn."
53:08Israel is my favorite people.
53:12Is my favorite people. My favorite is my
53:15favorite people.
53:18So I'm going to strike the firstborns.
53:25Since Egypt refused to release God's
53:27firstborn,
53:28then God required the firstborn of Egypt
53:31as a penalty in judgment.
53:34He said, "Okay." Mhm.
53:37So, back to what we were saying to the
53:39point because I want to get back to what
53:40we were saying about sometimes what what
53:43we see is people mentally agree with
53:45God, but they don't act on it.
53:47>> That part cuz faith without works is
53:50dead.
53:52So what we see right here is is
53:54sometimes because God said when I see
53:56the blood, what have happened if he
53:58didn't see the blood?
53:59>> Yeah.
54:01>> What would have happened if they didn't
54:03believe the blood had power, but they
54:05just sacrificed the lamb, but they
54:07didn't believe the blood had p power.
54:09God doesn't care about the mental
54:11agreement. That that's not enough. He
54:13wants to see that you did what I told
54:15you to do.
54:16>> Come on.
54:18>> God, they had to do what God said must
54:20be done with the blood. So the point of
54:22this is faith requires obedience. That's
54:25the point. That that's the point. That's
54:27the point of that text right there.
54:29That's the point. It's one thing to
54:31agree with what God said. It's another
54:33thing to act on it. Had they had not
54:36acted on it.
54:40>> Okay. Okay.
54:42>> They wouldn't.
54:42>> The Israelites could have believed what
54:45they could have done. They could have
54:46believed that God was sending judgment.
54:48They could have believed that.
54:51They could have believed that a lamb
54:53would be enough. They could.
54:56They also could have believed that the
54:58blood had power. They they could believe
54:59that.
55:01They can believe that. But unless they
55:04actually applied the blood,
55:07unless they actually applied the blood
55:10to the doorpost, that belief wouldn't
55:12have protected them.
55:18Unless they actually applied the blood
55:20to the doorpost. I I think I think maybe
55:23I'm a little more deeper in my head than
55:25y'all, but it's okay. We going to get
55:26there. He said, "When I see the blood, I
55:29will pass over you." That is verse 13.
55:32Not when you believe in the blood, but
55:35when I see the blood.
55:37Were you obedient?
55:39That your faith manifest into obedience.
55:43I I know you I know you heard me. I want
55:46to make sure that you acted on it when I
55:47gave you the instruction. I don't care
55:49that you heard me. When I gave you the
55:51instruction, were you obedient to what I
55:54said to do?
55:56Come on now.
55:59The Israelites faith was proven by the
56:02action of applying the blood. The
56:05Israelites faith was proven by the
56:08action of applying the blood. What did
56:11barely just say? Faith without work is
56:14dead.
56:19He said when I see
56:21he said when I see the blood
56:25I will pass over you. This plague of
56:28death will not touch you when I strike
56:30the land of Egypt.
56:31>> That is good.
56:33>> I need to make sure that we understand
56:35in order for them to have been redeemed,
56:37a sacrifice had to have been made.
56:39Redemption always requires a sacrifice.
56:42It we see it from Genesis all the way to
56:44Revelation. Redemption requires a
56:47sacrifice. What does it mean to be
56:49redeemed? To redeem means to buy back.
56:52We saw that with Jesus Christ. To We see
56:54the same thing with the Israelites. To
56:56redeem means to buy back, to rescue or
57:00deliver from bondage. That's what redeem
57:02actually means.
57:04To exchange something of value to secure
57:08freedom or ownership. Mhm. So redemption
57:13comes at a cost. I hope y'all are
57:15hearing me. Redemption comes at a cost.
57:18What God has redeemed you from came at a
57:21cost. Do y'all remember when we were
57:23reading reading this in Isaiah? Mhm.
57:26>> Redemption comes at a cost
57:31and it that cost in this text in the in
57:34biblical in theology in the Bible was a
57:37life. It was blood that had to be shed.
57:41The lamb was the substitute. It was a
57:43substitutionary atonement.
57:46The Israelites were redeemed from death
57:49by the blood of a lamb. Come on, y'all.
57:52This is the first Passover. The
57:54Israelites were redeemed
57:57from debt by the blood of a lamb. If
58:02there was no blood on those doorpost and
58:06that lentil, that means there was no
58:07protection. If there was no protection,
58:10there was no redemption. My God. Let me
58:12say that again. If there was no blood.
58:16Now, I need y'all to understand the
58:17foreshadowing of Jesus Christ. If there
58:20was no blood, then there was no
58:22protection. If there was no protection,
58:25then there was no redemption. If there
58:28was no blood that was shed on Calvary by
58:30Christ Jesus, then there would have been
58:32no protection. If there was no
58:34protection, we would have never been
58:36redeemed. Hello, we would have been dead
58:39to our sins. Hello, Satan would have
58:42still had his legal rights to condemn
58:44us. Hello, we wouldn't just be accused,
58:47we would have been a dead, we would have
58:49been dead as well. We would have died
58:50because of that. If there was no blood,
58:53if the Israelites never placed the blood
58:56where God instructed them to, then the
58:59the angel of death would have came in
59:01and judgment would have been on them and
59:02they would have saw death. There
59:04wouldn't have been no redemption.
59:06>> Come on.
59:08>> So good. The blood, the blood, the
59:10blood,
59:11>> the life of the lamb. H
59:15[clears throat and snorts] Jesus. The
59:16life of the lamb was a price for their
59:19deliverance.
59:21Let me say that again. Come on, Jesus.
59:24The life of the lamb was the price of
59:27their deliverance.
59:37>> [snorts]
59:41>> Okay, let's keep going. That something
59:44just that that just that just got me
59:45right there for a minute.
59:49>> I want y'all to to understand the first
59:52Passover
59:54because when y'all understand how
1:00:00Jesus our redemption I'm I'm talking
1:00:03about us now, present time. Now I'm I'm
1:00:05talking about Jesus. I'm talking about
1:00:06this covenant here. Our redemption.
1:00:09I I want y'all to understand how much
1:00:11God loves us. Cuz I always tell people
1:00:14that Jesus is the incarnation of God.
1:00:18Jesus is the embodiment, the flesh. We
1:00:22get to see the visible image of an
1:00:23invisible God. The word says that our
1:00:26redemption cost the blood of God himself
1:00:28in the flesh.
1:00:31I want y'all to understand that. That's
1:00:33how that's how much God loves us. Our
1:00:35redemption cost the blood of God himself
1:00:39in the flesh. I I want to make sure
1:00:42Jesus was the final sacrifice. But we
1:00:45had to witness this first Passover to
1:00:47even understand the foreshadowing of
1:00:49Jesus to begin with. We had to
1:00:51understand why it took an innocent and
1:00:54pure lamb.
1:00:57Even in the in the word of God, even the
1:00:59animals that were sacrificed, if there
1:01:00was an animal that was unclean, it had
1:01:02to be redeemed by something pure. Even
1:01:05in the Old Testament, here in the Old
1:01:07Testament, if there was an animal that
1:01:08was unclean, it had to be redeemed by
1:01:11something pure. If it was not redeemed,
1:01:13then they were to be killed. Y'all
1:01:16understand that?
1:01:18>> Y'all get that? The lamb and innocent,
1:01:22they symbolize innocence and purity.
1:01:24That's what lambs symbolize.
1:01:27And only those who were under the blood
1:01:29of the lamb were protected. The
1:01:31Passover, this Passover text, we're
1:01:33going to read more into it when we get
1:01:34to the unleven bread and everything else
1:01:36and when it actually happened. The
1:01:37Passover represents deliverance and new
1:01:40beginnings.
1:01:42The Passover That's good. That's good.
1:01:47The Passover represents deliverance
1:01:50>> and new beginnings. God said, "We going
1:01:52we going to reset
1:01:54and I'm going to redeem you."
1:01:57>> And the lamb was a substitute.
1:02:00The lamb stood in for somebody else. The
1:02:03lamb was a life for a life. [snorts]
1:02:06Atonement means a covering or a ransom,
1:02:10right? The Passover lamb,
1:02:14Jesus was a substitute. This Passover
1:02:17lamb in Exodus was a substitute. It was
1:02:21a substitutionary atonement.
1:02:24God's judgment, like I said, was coming
1:02:26for everybody, the Egyptians and the
1:02:27Israelites.
1:02:29Unless there was a substitute in place,
1:02:32God's judgment was coming for everybody.
1:02:34Unless there was a substitute in place,
1:02:37the blood had to be applied.
1:02:41He said once again, "When I see the
1:02:42blood, I will pass over you. No
1:02:44destructive plague will touch you." The
1:02:46lamb's blood had a protective power. The
1:02:49lamb's blood now has a protective power.
1:02:52The lamb's blood in Exodus 12 had a
1:02:57protective power, but only if it was
1:03:00applied to the doorpost. It wasn't
1:03:02enough to believe in the lamb. Hello,
1:03:05saints. It wasn't enough to believe in
1:03:07the lamb. It's not enough to just
1:03:10believe in the lamb. You have to follow
1:03:13through in obedience and place your
1:03:16trust in the blood. Come on, somebody.
1:03:19It wasn't enough for them to believe in
1:03:21the lamb. They had to follow the
1:03:23instructions that God gave them. Be
1:03:25obedient and placed their trust in the
1:03:28blood.
1:03:30Faith plus obedience
1:03:33meant that they were now covered by the
1:03:35substitute, the lamb. I want to make
1:03:38sure that we understand that it's not
1:03:40enough to believe in the lamb.
1:03:43You got to follow through with God's
1:03:46instruction, the word of God.
1:03:49You follow through with God's
1:03:50instruction.
1:03:52And we're obedient. And we're obedient.
1:03:54Sorry. And we trust in the lamb.
1:03:58Not just believing, but trusting the
1:04:00power of the blood of the lamb.
1:04:05So when we get to understanding why
1:04:08Jesus was sacrificed to begin with,
1:04:11cuz sin whenever we're whenever we sin,
1:04:13that means that we incure that. We break
1:04:16the covenant.
1:04:18Mhm.
1:04:19And then we have the redeeming power of
1:04:21the blood that comes in
1:04:23and it now heals the relationship that
1:04:25we have with God and places us legally
1:04:28where we're supposed to stand as God's
1:04:29child. And now we have access to the
1:04:32promise and the inheritance, which was
1:04:33the same thing for the Israelites. The
1:04:36blood when they were redeemed, now they
1:04:37had access to the promise and the
1:04:39inheritance that God promised Abraham
1:04:42once they were redeemed. But they had to
1:04:44be covered by the what? Come on, y'all.
1:04:47They had to be covered by the what? In
1:04:49order to be redeemed, they had to be
1:04:50covered by the blood. Right
1:04:53now, y'all understand why why why
1:04:56God is called the redeemer. Why Jesus
1:04:58Christ is called the redeemer? Do we
1:05:00understand that?
1:05:03>> Jesus was the ultimate substitute.
1:05:06This right here was just the beginning.
1:05:11So, there is no redemption without blood
1:05:14applied.
1:05:16And we're just only at verse 13. I just
1:05:18wanted to make sure that you all
1:05:20understood that there is no redemption
1:05:22without blood. You're right. My redeemer
1:05:24lives. I love that song.
1:05:27So, even in today's time, and we're
1:05:29going to get to that as we get to know
1:05:30Jesus Christ. We can't just know about
1:05:32Jesus. We can't just know about the
1:05:34Passover lamb. We got to receive him and
1:05:37apply his sacrifice to our life by
1:05:40faith. They had to receive the lamb,
1:05:42too.
1:05:45Mhm.
1:05:47Every area,
1:05:49every area,
1:05:51I I got real country. Every area that we
1:05:54want redeemed in our life, I don't care
1:05:57what it is, it has to be surrendered and
1:05:59covered by the blood. We saw that in
1:06:02Exodus.
1:06:04Do y'all understand why God was so
1:06:06detailed in here? He was so detailed in
1:06:10the first Passover. Y'all can't tell me
1:06:12that no man just came up with this idea.
1:06:15This ain't nothing but God. You can't
1:06:17tell me that no man just came up with
1:06:18this there. This ain't nothing but God.
1:06:24Me and Beverly were talking earlier
1:06:25about we and I asked Be said, "Why do
1:06:27you think God was so specific in his
1:06:29instructions?" And I and I want to ask
1:06:30y'all that. Why do y'all think God was
1:06:33so specific in his instructions? He
1:06:36said, "I need y'all to eat this in
1:06:38haste. I need y'all to eat this with
1:06:40urgency.
1:06:42He said, "I need you to take this blood
1:06:44of an innocent
1:06:46male one-year-old lamb that's without
1:06:49blemish. I want you to have it for 4
1:06:50days. Keep it together. Nurture that
1:06:53lamb. Make it yours. Take special care
1:06:57of that lamb.
1:07:00So when you sacrifice it, you're going
1:07:02to cherish it. It's precious to you and
1:07:06you're going to mourn it."
1:07:08When Jesus died on the cross, they
1:07:10mourned.
1:07:13He was precious to them. Jesus came
1:07:15through walking this earth in that
1:07:17ministry, performing miracles, helping
1:07:19people understand God's grace,
1:07:22showing God's love,
1:07:25showing God's mercy.
1:07:27They loved him. Some people hated him,
1:07:29but others loved him, and he was
1:07:31precious to them.
1:07:35Exactly, Tia. And we still mourn to this
1:07:37day.
1:07:38>> Yes. Yes.
1:07:41>> God always demonstrates his authority.
1:07:44He always demonstrates his
1:07:47his sovereignty.
1:07:49And God constantly reveals to us that we
1:07:51are not like him. We don't think like
1:07:53him. We don't come close to thinking
1:07:54like him. We can never understand God's
1:07:57logic. We have no idea. We We just can't
1:08:00do it. Our human logic can never
1:08:03understand his eternal logic. We just
1:08:05can't.
1:08:06>> Yeah,
1:08:06>> we can't do it.
1:08:09God said, "I'mma tell you the exact time
1:08:12to select." Come on now. I love it. It's
1:08:14his exact instructions. He said, "I'm
1:08:16going to tell you the exact time to
1:08:18select a lamb."
1:08:20>> He said, "I'm going to tell you the
1:08:21exact age as well." I ain't going to
1:08:24tell you just go get a lamb. He said,
1:08:25"I'm going tell you the exact time."
1:08:27>> Yeah. the exact age, how long to keep it
1:08:30and nurture it, how to cook it, how to
1:08:33eat it. All of that was God saying, "I'm
1:08:36being deliberate and strategic."
1:08:39And we may not ever understand God's
1:08:41instruction, but we have to have faith.
1:08:43They didn't understand why God was
1:08:45telling them to put blood on the
1:08:47doorpost and a lentil. They don't they
1:08:48didn't understand that. They didn't know
1:08:50that. But we know we supposed to do it.
1:08:53And this is the instruction. So, I have
1:08:55to follow God's instructions. They were
1:08:56clear.
1:08:57>> Mhm.
1:08:58>> They didn't know what was going to
1:08:59happen. They were like, "Okay, God.
1:09:02Cool. Yeah. All right." And they
1:09:04followed him. So any situation that we
1:09:08have, it just shows God's control over
1:09:11everything. That it really shows his
1:09:13sovereignty and his authority over
1:09:14everything.
1:09:17God controls everything. His control
1:09:20over everything. The details of
1:09:21redemption. Even for us now.
1:09:25Now, when you look at the Passover with
1:09:26Jesus, you going to be like, "Oh,
1:09:29I get it." And then when we go back in
1:09:31in Genesis and we start seeing sacrifice
1:09:32and stuff, y'all going to be like, "Oh."
1:09:35>> So, by the time we start going through
1:09:37the Noaic and the Abrahamic covenant,
1:09:40y'all be like, "Oh,
1:09:43the Mosaic and the Levitical, y'all
1:09:45going to be like, it makes sense." Y'all
1:09:48going to understand why these covenants,
1:09:50how we led up to the new covenant. Y'all
1:09:52going to understand how we led up to
1:09:53Jesus Christ to begin with. You wouldn't
1:09:55understand it if you just went and
1:09:56started to read the New Testament
1:09:57straight out the bat.
1:10:01One thing that I can say God wants for
1:10:02us, and I Beverly actually brought this,
1:10:04she she was amazing when she brought
1:10:06this up today when we were talking about
1:10:07it. One thing I love about God is God
1:10:11looks for us to to apply the action.
1:10:14Like he wants to see our faith in
1:10:16action. He wants to see that. And and
1:10:20it's all throughout the word of God,
1:10:22like I said, from Genesis to Revelation,
1:10:24that they could not, the Israelites,
1:10:26they couldn't just believe the blood
1:10:28will work.
1:10:29They had to apply it just as he told
1:10:32them to. I know church never broke it
1:10:35down for me neither. It took a lot. It
1:10:36just takes us, right? Why we love Bible
1:10:39study, right? But they couldn't just
1:10:40believe the blood will work. They had to
1:10:43apply it exactly as he said. And that's
1:10:46that obedient faith that James was
1:10:48talking about
1:10:50in James. That's that's the obedient
1:10:52faith that was in chapter that was in
1:10:54James chapter 2 verse 17. It was
1:10:56actually some before that. Faith without
1:10:58works. I think it starts at chapter 14.
1:11:02I think it starts at chapter 14 or
1:11:03something like that
1:11:06where it says faith without works is
1:11:07dead. That's real.
1:11:11The obedience that we have to the
1:11:13specific instructions that God gives us
1:11:16is how our faith shows up.
1:11:19That's why I always say obedience is
1:11:20extremely important.
1:11:23Here it is. God was giving instructions
1:11:25and they didn't know. They didn't
1:11:26understand what was going on and he was
1:11:28preparing them for something greater.
1:11:31They didn't he they didn't understand
1:11:32what was happening and God was like,
1:11:34"Y'all may not be able to see it, but
1:11:35it's something greater. It's something
1:11:36ahead of you. I'm now now I'm sealing
1:11:40the covenant that I have with you.
1:11:43Me and Abraham already had this convers
1:11:45this conversation, but I'm fulfilling my
1:11:47promises like I said I was going to.
1:11:49When God said, "I will the I wills." He
1:11:53He already had this conversation with
1:11:54Abraham. Your people going to be good.
1:11:58Mhm.
1:12:00I I love that. I love that about God.
1:12:03And I also love the fact that everything
1:12:04in the word of God points us to Christ.
1:12:08I love God for that. Everything in the
1:12:10word of God, every detail in Exodus
1:12:13chapter 12 foreshadowed Jesus Christ.
1:12:17Everything in chapter 12 foreshadowed
1:12:20the true lamb of God.
1:12:24He said a lamb without blemish. Jesus
1:12:28was sinless. Do we understand that? He
1:12:30said a lamb without blemish foreshadow
1:12:33Jesus. He didn't have sin. He wasn't a
1:12:34sinful man. He was without sin. I mean,
1:12:37no ink wasted. Okay?
1:12:39>> No ink wasted.
1:12:40>> None.
1:12:41>> He said, "I want you to apply the blood
1:12:43here." We got the blood of Jesus Christ,
1:12:46y'all. Supplied over our life. He died
1:12:48on He died on the cross for us.
1:12:55Everything foreshadowed the coming of
1:12:56Jesus.
1:12:58Once again, y'all know I always say the
1:13:00book of Exodus reveals who God is.
1:13:03Remember, I told y'all that the last
1:13:04time. The reason why we go in Exodus is
1:13:06because it reveals God's nature. You
1:13:09need to know the core themes of the
1:13:11Bible. Redemption, deliverance, like we
1:13:13we have to understand the core themes.
1:13:15Protection, provision. We need to
1:13:17understand these core themes of the
1:13:19Bible. And you need to know God's
1:13:22nature.
1:13:24You got to know God's character, his
1:13:26nature. You have to know who God is.
1:13:30God don't He's not a random God.
1:13:32Everything is intentional. Everything
1:13:35is intentional. God is not random.
1:13:38That's just not who he is. Ain't nothing
1:13:40going to be random when it comes to God.
1:13:44He is holy. He is set apart. He is
1:13:48faithful. He is faithful to perform. And
1:13:51he is faithful to keeping his promises.
1:13:54Mhm. On his terms.
1:13:59Okay. That's that's that's
1:14:02it. It ain't no shortcuts in the
1:14:03process. It ain't It ain't no shortcuts
1:14:05in the process. Um,
1:14:08we must be obedient to God's
1:14:10instructions even when we don't
1:14:11understand.
1:14:13Um, we can't shortcut the process.
1:14:17And sometimes we try to do that. We try
1:14:19to shortcut the process because it
1:14:20doesn't make sense to us. And we say
1:14:22that this just don't make sense. This is
1:14:23illogical. We won't never understand
1:14:25God's logic.
1:14:27We won't never understand it. And we
1:14:29look and say, "This is too this too much
1:14:30time, God. It's taking too long and you
1:14:33never understand. You say, "This is too
1:14:34much. This is inconvenient for my
1:14:35timing." And you don't understand why
1:14:37God is doing things. And this is the
1:14:39reason why we must trust God.
1:14:44We must trust God.
1:14:48Our obedience, I'm glad someone asked
1:14:49and Bev, I'm sure you probably going to
1:14:51answer that about the obedience and the
1:14:52sacrifice. But I want you to think about
1:14:53what we were just talking about. I'm
1:14:55going to let Beth answer that question
1:14:56because somebody asked u I think why is
1:14:58obedience better than sacrifice? Is that
1:14:59what they said? I just want you to
1:15:01listen. Just just take in and and just
1:15:03recount what we just talked about. That
1:15:05obedience was that faith in action. The
1:15:07obedience was the faith in action. A
1:15:10sacrifice can be anything. They could
1:15:11have sacrificed the lamb and did not
1:15:13believe that the blood had power.
1:15:15>> That's it.
1:15:15>> Then what it was going to be?
1:15:16>> That's good.
1:15:17>> Judgment was going to hit them. They
1:15:19could have just done it. They could have
1:15:20just did it because God told them to do
1:15:22it. But then what? You didn't believe
1:15:24that the blood had power. However, your
1:15:27obedience now says that this is my faith
1:15:30fully manifested here. That I'm acting
1:15:32out on my faith and that I'm trusting
1:15:34God even when I cannot see it. I'm
1:15:38trusting God even when I can't see it.
1:15:40Even when I know what's going to happen,
1:15:42I I'm trusting him.
1:15:43>> Yes, that's it right there.
1:15:45>> And we have every reason to trust God
1:15:48because look what we see in Exodus. This
1:15:50is why I love the word of God in Exodus.
1:15:52We got to say see God who who pushed
1:15:55people into their calling. People who
1:15:57wouldn't have been qualified by us. We
1:15:59got to see the healer. We got to see the
1:16:01redeemer. We had we got to see the one
1:16:03who delivers. We got to see the gracious
1:16:05and the merciful God. We got to see his
1:16:08nature here.
1:16:11We have so much evidence in the word of
1:16:14God of who God is. Why would we not be
1:16:16obedient?
1:16:18>> We should have faith in him. He's shown
1:16:20himself to be faithful. He
1:16:22said,"Abraham, I told you something. I'm
1:16:24not a man that I shall lie you good." I
1:16:26said, "I'm going to make sure that I
1:16:27take them out of here and I'm going to
1:16:29put them into a land that's full of milk
1:16:31and honey. I made the promise to you. It
1:16:34may be some time, but I made that
1:16:36promise." And I kept my word. And I
1:16:39guarantee y'all with a lot of things
1:16:41that many of us have been through, God
1:16:43kept his word. I'mma plug this up. God
1:16:45kept his word. Be I'm let you go over
1:16:46and take over for a second.
1:16:49>> Oh, okay. Um well, Katie pretty much um
1:16:52answered it. Um why obedience is better
1:16:55than sacrifice. And so when you think of
1:16:57obedience, the reason why God says
1:16:59obedience is better than sacrifice
1:17:00because we see that in 1 Samuel. We see
1:17:02that where Saul in 1 Samuel, he um
1:17:05that's where that that's where that
1:17:07saying comes from. It comes from 1
1:17:08Samuel. And Saul is told to do
1:17:11something. God says, "I want you to kill
1:17:12all of the Amalachites and not spare
1:17:15anyone." Right? God, uh, Saul decides,
1:17:18well, I'm going to take some of, you
1:17:20know, the the good animals. And, you
1:17:22know, he was like, well, I'm going to
1:17:23take them for a sacrifice. And God is
1:17:25like, that's not what I told you to do.
1:17:27Right? So, when God says that obedience
1:17:29is better than sacrifice, what he's
1:17:31really telling us is he wants our heart,
1:17:34not just our actions, right? Sacrifice
1:17:37is what we do for God. It's something
1:17:40that we do for God. It is an action. But
1:17:42just like Kitty said, obedience is us
1:17:45trusting God enough to do what he says.
1:17:49Even when it's hard, even when it
1:17:51doesn't make sense, even when we don't
1:17:53have full understanding, we have to give
1:17:56up a lot of things. And here's also the
1:17:59the thing to know. Being obedient, you
1:18:02are also still going to sacrifice
1:18:05because you are going to have to still
1:18:07give up things to do what God told you
1:18:09to do. So it's still a sacrifice in
1:18:11being obedient, but obedience shows your
1:18:14heart posture. Obedience says, "God, you
1:18:16know what? I trust what you are going to
1:18:19do." And so that is why now under new
1:18:21covenant, we are under obedience and no
1:18:24longer under the sacrifice of having to
1:18:26sacrifice animals and lambs and things,
1:18:29right? Because you can give up a lot of
1:18:32things. You could do a lot of things for
1:18:33God, right? You could sacrifice a lot of
1:18:35things. You can say, "Well, God, I gave
1:18:36up this. God, I sacrificed this. God, I
1:18:39sacrificed that. But guess what? You
1:18:40could still build be out of his
1:18:42alignment and out of his will,
1:18:44>> right? It doesn't matter if God didn't
1:18:46tell you to sacrifice that. If God
1:18:48didn't say, I didn't say give this up
1:18:50for you, you could still be out of
1:18:52alignment with him. But when you obey
1:18:54what he said, do you take the time to
1:18:56listen, God, what are your instructions?
1:18:59Then you're showing God, I love you. I
1:19:01love you, and I trust that your way is
1:19:04best. So whatever it is that you're
1:19:06telling me to do, I'm going to obey it.
1:19:08I'm not going to do what I want to do
1:19:10and just say, "Well, God, this is a
1:19:11sacrifice. I decided to stop doing
1:19:13this." No, I love you so much that your
1:19:15way is is best. Right? So sacrifice may
1:19:17look harder, but obedience takes you
1:19:20deeper. Right? Because obedience changes
1:19:22your heart. Obedience also changes your
1:19:25habits. It's going to change so much
1:19:27within you when you are obedient and you
1:19:30learn to really trust God and allow him
1:19:33to lead your steps. Order your steps.
1:19:36Order your path. You allow yourself to
1:19:39just let the string go and just say,
1:19:42"God, whatever it is, I'm taking that
1:19:44step and I'm going just do it. I don't
1:19:45understand. I may not feel comfortable,
1:19:48but you know what? I trust that your
1:19:51thoughts are higher than my thoughts.
1:19:52Your ways are higher than my ways. So
1:19:55whatever you're telling me to do,
1:19:57>> I'm going to do it. Right? God, that
1:20:00obedience is actually surrender, right?
1:20:03And we know that God values surrender.
1:20:05And so that is why obedience is better
1:20:08than sacrifice.
1:20:09>> Come on now.
1:20:10>> I hope that helps. [laughter]
1:20:12>> You better pop it off like you ain't
1:20:13never popped off before.
1:20:16[laughter]
1:20:17>> You better go on there now. So
1:20:18>> yes, yes,
1:20:19>> we're gonna bring it on home. Bill was
1:20:21about to take us there again. I love it.
1:20:24Oh, don't y'all love a good God moment?
1:20:26[laughter]
1:20:28We love a good God moment,
1:20:29>> man.
1:20:30>> Boy, and I thank y'all for being patient
1:20:31with me today because I It's just been a
1:20:34It's been a busy day and I'm I'm
1:20:36thankful that we're all here and I hope
1:20:38I was able to make sense cuz my brain
1:20:40was in like 10,000 places. I was trying
1:20:42to pull it together. Um, but I I hope
1:20:44this all made sense. I just want to make
1:20:46sure that we we understand this so when
1:20:48we go into verse 14 and we start talking
1:20:51about the unleven bread and stuff and
1:20:52all of that it's going to make sense. So
1:20:54that way once we even get to like the
1:20:56Pharisees and stuff and all that y I'm
1:20:57like oh okay. So I just want to make
1:21:00sure it's exciting when you learn about
1:21:01it. But I want to make sure that y'all
1:21:03understand [clears throat] the focus for
1:21:06this text today
1:21:09that this was about God's instruction
1:21:10for the Israelites. one that they had to
1:21:13slaughter a spotless lamb
1:21:16>> and apply his blood on the doorpost. And
1:21:17we understand that God's instruction is
1:21:19important. He didn't tell them to go
1:21:21pick a random lamb. He said, "I want
1:21:24y'all to pick a spotless one-year-old
1:21:27without blemish lamb." Okay. Male. Okay.
1:21:33So, the blood here, we remember the
1:21:35blood serves as a sign. When the blood
1:21:37was on the doorpost and the lentil, it
1:21:39was a sign for God to pass over. Okay,
1:21:42so we understand the Passover. It was a
1:21:44sign for God for the Lord to pass over
1:21:47during the final and the most
1:21:49devastating plague. The most devastating
1:21:51plague was the death of the firstborn.
1:21:54Okay? And when we get into Jesus, even
1:21:56when we get into the the Leviticus and
1:21:59and we're going to take some time to get
1:22:01to Leviticus because Leviticus is a lot
1:22:03is a lot to understand. Even we get to
1:22:05Leviticus, you'll understand what these
1:22:08things cost and why sacrifices were so
1:22:10important. But right here, as we see in
1:22:12Exodus 12, we understand that the blood
1:22:14of the lamb served as a substitution for
1:22:17life of the firstborn in that home.
1:22:21Okay? The blood symbolizes the life
1:22:25being given in exchange. And when we get
1:22:27to Jesus Christ, we're going to
1:22:29understand that. We're going to better
1:22:30understand that. that the only way that
1:22:32sin could have been dealt with, the only
1:22:35way that sin could have been dealt with
1:22:37was by an exchange of something. The
1:22:39cost of sin was death.
1:22:42Mhm. And the blood symbolized the life
1:22:44in exchange. So by the time we get to
1:22:46Jesus Christ, y like, "Oh, that makes
1:22:48sense. It required a life to cover the
1:22:50offense." So God didn't say, "I'm just
1:22:52going to forgive the sin without a
1:22:54cost." He said, "No, it's going to
1:22:55require a life. It's going to require
1:22:57blood to cover the offense." Okay.
1:23:01>> So, that's why we have Jesus. That's why
1:23:03we had that why we had to go through the
1:23:04death of Jesus Christ and him rising and
1:23:06everything else. Y'all going to
1:23:08understand the Passover lamb. Okay.
1:23:10Remember, the lamb was a substitute. So,
1:23:12when we go into next week's study, I
1:23:13want y'all to remember that the lamb was
1:23:15a substitute. It died so the firstborn
1:23:17didn't have to. The lamb was the
1:23:19substitute. It died so Israel didn't
1:23:22have to. Remember, God acknowledged
1:23:24Israel as his firstborn. as his
1:23:26firstborn in chapter four. So the lamb
1:23:30was a substitute so that the Israelites
1:23:34didn't die in that place. Okay? That's
1:23:37how God's justice was. It required a
1:23:39life for a life. So when people say,
1:23:41"Well, God is is cruel cuz why did he
1:23:43sacrifice Jesus Christ?" You don't
1:23:45understand the sacrifice was much
1:23:46greater than people could ever
1:23:47understand.
1:23:49>> That was the ultimate sacrifice.
1:23:52>> Yeah.
1:23:52>> Okay. The lamb's death. I I want to let
1:23:55me just end it here. The lamb's death
1:23:59purchased the Israelites freedom.
1:24:02>> Yes.
1:24:03>> Stick with that. That's how we going to
1:24:05end it. The lamb's death purchased the
1:24:09Israelites freedom. The death of Jesus
1:24:12Christ
1:24:14purchased our freedom. Y'all get that?
1:24:17>> The lamb's death purchased the
1:24:20Israelites freedom. The Passover lamb.
1:24:23The first Passover lamb. The first
1:24:26Passover lamb.
1:24:28>> The substitute lamb. This right here.
1:24:31>> Y'all got that? Did y'all write that
1:24:33down? So when we get to 14, y'all gonna
1:24:35understand that the lamb's dead
1:24:36purchased the Israelites freedom.
1:24:40Okay, y'all get that.
1:24:43>> Yeah, that was really good.
1:24:46>> So, let me just let me just add this one
1:24:47more this one more piece. I'm gonna let
1:24:48you go there. Okay. So, just so we and
1:24:51I'm sorry I said I was going to land it
1:24:52there, but I just want to make sure that
1:24:54y'all understand this because when we
1:24:56get to Genesis, it's going to be a lot
1:24:58of things. And then we get back to
1:24:59Exodus from Genesis, it's going to be a
1:25:01lot of things that that's y'all going to
1:25:03look and say, "Oh my Lord." And I want
1:25:05y'all to understand the reason why we do
1:25:08so many things under Christ Jesus and
1:25:10why we acknowledge Christ Jesus. cuz
1:25:12I've heard some silly things of people
1:25:13saying, you know, that you go to God and
1:25:16not Christ and this and that and and
1:25:18trying to minimize the role of Christ
1:25:20Jesus. Christ Jesus was our substitute
1:25:23on the cross. We're not saved by the
1:25:26good things that we do. We're not saved
1:25:28cuz we gave somebody $10. We ain't saved
1:25:31cuz we prayed for somebody. We are not
1:25:33saved by our works. We're not saved by
1:25:36the knowledge that we have. We are not
1:25:37saved by any of that, but by the
1:25:39application of his blood to our lives
1:25:41through faith. Jesus is way more
1:25:44important than someone just saying he's
1:25:46a son of God.
1:25:47>> Yeah.
1:25:48>> And I want everyone to understand that
1:25:50that he really died for our freedom.
1:25:53>> Amen.
1:25:53>> And we'll get into that once we get into
1:25:55Christ Jesus. Okay, Bill, you can go.
1:25:56Then we gonna close out.
1:25:57>> I'm Yeah, I'mma close out because I also
1:25:59got to go run and go get your nephew
1:26:01from football. I thought this was really
1:26:02good and I I think a lot of people have
1:26:04had this question and I'm going to
1:26:06briefly just um address it. Someone
1:26:08said, "How can you tell God has asked
1:26:10you to sacrifice something especially if
1:26:13you can't tell the voice of God?" And I
1:26:15know a lot of people do struggle knowing
1:26:17if it's the um voice of God and if
1:26:19you're supposed to, you know, give up
1:26:21and what you're supposed to sacrifice
1:26:23for God. So one of the ways that you can
1:26:25tell when God is asking you to sacrifice
1:26:27something is because normally or usually
1:26:29it will challenge your comfort, right?
1:26:32But even though it challenges your
1:26:33comfort, it is going to lead you toward
1:26:36peace and growth. Okay? And it is going
1:26:39to push you towards getting closer to
1:26:42God. God is never going to ask you to
1:26:44give up something just to hurt you.
1:26:46Okay? Everything that God asks you to
1:26:49give up, it is for you to release so you
1:26:51can keep growing closer to him. That
1:26:53means it is a barrier in between your
1:26:56relationship with God. And so one of the
1:26:58ways that you can know God, if it's God
1:27:01that's saying, I want you to release,
1:27:02whether it's this person, whether it's
1:27:04this job, whether whatever it is, is
1:27:06also understand that God comes with
1:27:09peace. He comes with clarity. And he
1:27:11does not come with pressure or fear. If
1:27:14you have any type of pressure, any type
1:27:16of fear, any type of impulsiveness, oh,
1:27:19I need to just do this. That's not God.
1:27:21God does not move in that way. And so if
1:27:23you sense that God is saying to release
1:27:25you is it's telling you to release
1:27:27something or give up something, sit with
1:27:30God and see how you feel and just
1:27:32analyze and ask God, is this for the
1:27:34growth of me? Am I going to get closer
1:27:36to God doing this or what is this for?
1:27:39Because the enemy will try to confuse
1:27:41you. But God is not a God of confusion
1:27:43that we know. So even if you can't hear
1:27:46God clearly yet, just continue to sit in
1:27:50his word because also God's word is
1:27:53confirmation. The Lord will take you to
1:27:56scripture. You will be able to find
1:27:58something in scripture that will confirm
1:28:00what he is asking you to sacrifice. And
1:28:03so I just want to really quickly say
1:28:05that because I've been in the position
1:28:06where I'm like, God, am I supposed to
1:28:08let this go? Like am I supposed to walk
1:28:10away from this? And I had to battle
1:28:12whether what that was a sacrifice. And
1:28:14even though it was a conviction, it will
1:28:15be a conviction in your heart and it
1:28:17feels uncomfortable. But again, there is
1:28:20going to be a subtle piece even in
1:28:22uncomfortableness, there will be a
1:28:24subtle piece where you where you know it
1:28:26doesn't this this this may not feel the
1:28:28best. This may not feel the easiest, but
1:28:30somehow I just know that God has given
1:28:32me the peace to do it. And the more you
1:28:34s spend time with God in his word, the
1:28:37easier and the more you will know what
1:28:39he is asking you to sacrifice. and
1:28:41you'll know how to hear his voice as
1:28:43well. So, I just want to answer that
1:28:45because a lot of people have asked that
1:28:46question.
1:28:47>> That was amazing.
1:28:50>> That was amazing. All right, y'all.
1:28:51We're going to be continuing out Exodus.
1:28:54Um, and over the next two weeks, we'll
1:28:57be finalizing
1:28:59Exodus 12. And like I said, we're going
1:29:02to stop right before 13. We're going to
1:29:05finish Exodus 12. Then, we're going all
1:29:07the way through Genesis. And y'all will
1:29:08understand why if y'all just rock with
1:29:10me. Trust me, I'm not going to lead
1:29:11y'all the wrong way. Just rock with me.
1:29:13I'm going to make sure that y'all
1:29:14understand it. Okay. Um, I thank all of
1:29:17you all for your prayers. I child, it's
1:29:20been I think every week I've probably
1:29:21been under some type of attack. We We're
1:29:24here,
1:29:25>> okay? And I'm talking I'm always under a
1:29:26public attack. I promise y'all the more
1:29:28and more I draw more people. Well, and I
1:29:31I want I don't want to take the credit.
1:29:32the more that I'm a vessel, the more I I
1:29:34listen to God and I'm obedient and we
1:29:37draw more people to the kingdom of God,
1:29:39the greater the attacks are going to
1:29:41come. And so that's why now I'm at the
1:29:43point where it's like it is what it is.
1:29:45But y'all keep me and be in your
1:29:47prayers. We're still doing this. We're
1:29:49going to continue doing this regardless
1:29:50of what people say. You know, it's
1:29:51people who just don't want us to bring
1:29:53people to the kingdom unless it's done
1:29:55that way. And that's okay. Hopefully you
1:29:57all were able to learn something. Did
1:29:59everybody learn something tonight? Did
1:30:00we all learn something? Maybe you all
1:30:02who've been in the word for a long time.
1:30:03Maybe there was something new that came
1:30:05up. Hopefully, we all learned something.
1:30:07We're getting closer to knowing who
1:30:09Jesus Christ is by knowing who our
1:30:11father is. It's so amazing. I love this.
1:30:13And we're going to understand Jesus's
1:30:15ministry.
1:30:16>> It's it's going to be great in in every
1:30:18and I do mean in every room.

1:30:21whether they like it or not. Per
1:30:25>> in every room.
1:30:27>> We love y'all so much.
1:30:31Yes.
1:30:32>> Baby, you want to give us a short and
1:30:33sweet close out?
1:30:34>> I will close us out. Yes. Let us go to
1:30:37the throne. Huh?
1:30:39>> At the feet. I said, "Let's rock." I'm

1:32:28revelation. Father, so you could lift
1:32:30them, encourage them, strengthen them,
1:32:32place them on the firm foundation,
1:32:35Father. Lord, I declare right now that
1:32:37you are going to do everything that they
1:32:39are asking that is in your will, Lord.
1:32:42Let your will be done on earth as it is
1:32:45in heaven. Father, I declare that
1:32:47healing and every part of the body, the
1:32:50mind, the emotion is going to come
1:32:52forth, Father. And we love you. We thank
1:32:55you. We honor you through all of the
