0:45at the tip of your fingertips every

0:52day the internet can be the worst thing

0:54in the

0:55world is the space of invisible violence

0:59cyber bullying online violence and

1:02digital harassment it's the space of

1:04doxing where anybody can showcase your

1:07location where you live all of your

1:09private data and expose them for

1:11everybody to see it is the space of

1:14online scammers of fishing of dark web

1:18it is the space of violence that never

1:21sleeps it is the space where somebody

1:24can take your image and With a Little

1:26Help of artificial intelligence twist it

1:29into something that it's completely

1:32not between these two realities there

1:35lies a real human genuine relationship

1:39with the

1:41internet your relationship or your

1:44experience what do we know about youth

1:47experience online

1:49today according to UNICEF that did this

1:52research back in 2019 with 1 million

1:55young people globally it was found that

1:5870%

2:00of young people around the world has

2:03been through some sort of cyber bullying

2:06and digital

2:07harassment there's no true consensus on

2:10what cyber bullying really is but this

2:13is one of the most quoted depictions of

2:16cyber bullying it states that it's an

2:19aggressive intentional act carried out

2:22by a group or individual using

2:24electronic forms of contact repeatedly

2:27and over time against a person that

2:30cannot defend

2:35themselves to tell you the truth I don't

2:38even like the word cyber bullying one of

2:40my depictions that I find uh very

2:44accurate was by 12-year-old girl I met

2:47in Bosnia

2:48heroina and she

2:50stated for her cyber bullying was the

2:54feeling of unrest where she didn't feel

2:57a single limb of her body when your

3:00stomach goes into your chest and you're

3:02completely terrified to look at your

3:04phone because you don't know what what

3:06can you expect

3:09there according to research done in

3:122018 young people who experience cyber

3:14bullying are as greater risk that those

3:17who don't for both self harm and

3:20suicidal

3:22behaviors additionally it has been found

3:25that cyber victims have more problems in

3:28schools with peers

3:30with substance abuse with anxiety stress

3:34loneliness and

3:35depression let me tell you how one viral

3:38video can change your entire life and

3:41I'm going to tell you a story about a

3:44boy and a girl from Bosnia

3:46herina one decade ago there was a girl

3:49who went to school trip together with

3:52her classmates in the midst of this

3:54activity their bus broke down uh there

3:57was a local news news out outlet that

4:00came to this H to this bus and they were

4:04looking for a statement so she went

4:07there in front of the microphone she was

4:09obviously very emotionally distressed

4:12she had a thick accent and her voice was

4:15shaky this particular video went viral

4:19for years and it's still online today

4:22she became a national mockery Meme and

4:26some people think it's funny even today

4:31luckily this girl

4:36survived last year there was a

4:3822-year-old boy who went to a local gas

4:41station to apply for his first

4:45job so when he went there and he was

4:47filling out his application he was

4:50mocked and filmed during this

4:53process by the time he came home this

4:56particular video of him was already

4:58viral on Tik Tok and

5:01YouTube out of immense humiliation and

5:04fear that he felt he committed

5:11suicide he's not the only one in Bosnia

5:14heroina or globally to do

5:18so when I was working with cyber victims

5:21a few years back once when I went with

5:23all of these screenshots and stories and

5:25reports to local authorities they said

5:29we have no means to protect you we

5:30cannot do

5:32anything and it's true because Bosnia

5:35and heroina still doesn't have law that

5:38can protect you against cyber bullying

5:40there's no legislation to protect

5:43you so how do we fight something so

5:48intangible during my work over the

5:51period of 5 years with young people from

5:53Bosnia heroina and region and having

5:55these conversations on cyber bullying

5:58there are three simple princi principles

5:59that you can apply to yourself and your

6:01friends

6:02today that can potentially help save

6:05your mind and maybe someone's

6:11life when it comes to cyber bullying be

6:14as loud as you

6:16can be as loud as lions Roar if you are

6:21being Cyber Bullied or your friends or

6:23anyone you know share it with everyone

6:26you know whether it's your parents adop

6:30professors school counselors even take

6:32it to social media if you have to

6:35because your voice is very powerful and

6:37it's very important for you not to be a

6:42bystander one of the cases I really

6:44enjoyed uh is uh of young people in

6:48conit who had their youth uh amateur

6:52theater and what they did back in 2014

6:55they created a play that's called

6:57virtual is real

7:00they collected all of these messages

7:03that they received in their schools like

7:05from their bullies from their cyber

7:07bullies and they put everything in a

7:10show and displayed it for everybody to

7:13see when it comes to cyber bullying

7:15expose it creatively loudly and

7:20persistently one of the most powerful

7:23things is to have absolute control over

7:26your

7:27information this is why it's important

7:29to be aware of your digital footsteps

7:31and your actions when I say practice

7:34conscious posting I mean think about all

7:38of the words and images and any content

7:41that you share

7:44online think about the last image that

7:46you send to your boyfriend or your

7:48girlfriend or somebody you

7:50like would it be absolutely okay with

7:54you if this particular image was to be

7:57out somewhere online for ever for

7:59everybody to

8:01see if no think about it next time

8:05you're sending that

8:07content there's a great um nemonic image

8:10by Melissa pelovski done in 2015 where

8:13she says think before you post but in a

8:17sense when you access your social media

8:19accounts think is a true helpful

8:24inspiring necessary or

8:27kind you don't always always have to be

8:29super kind I know that I get angry too

8:32when I'm sometimes behind my keyboard

8:34This is why it's important for us to

8:36think before we actually ready to

8:39comment on

8:43something I know this is the least

8:45unpopular one take a break from social

8:48media and the internet shocking

8:50no when I say take a break from social

8:53media I don't mean in a sense that you

8:55completely isolate yourself from the

8:58world um this is the time for you to

9:02find a healthy balance between digital

9:04consumption and all of your usage of of

9:07the internet and social media because

9:09it's very important for you to to to be

9:12aware of the fact that you are the one

9:14who is controlling technology and not

9:17the other way around According to some

9:19research the bigger the our digital

9:22consumption is um there's a chance of us

9:26always comparing ourselves with other

9:28people

9:29are we good enough are we strong enough

9:32are we smart enough are we beautiful

9:36enough this is why it's important for

9:38you to work on your mental health and

9:41your body recharge your mental

9:46stamina and take control of digital

9:50consumption to sum up all points in main

9:53three be as vocal as possible when

9:56confronting cyber bullying always be an

9:59ally never be a

10:01bystander because fear should not let

10:04you should not stop you from exposing

10:06cyber bullying and protecting each

10:09other two digital actions leave Lasting

10:14Impressions and as we heard minute

10:18before at times they can be fatal

10:20ones and number three take control over

10:24your narrative take time to pause and

10:27recharge because only only when you're

10:29mentally strong enough and physically

10:32strong enough can you really face all of

10:34your challenges on daily basis with

10:37strength and

10:39resilience thank
