0:00hey everybody danny mod here thanks for

0:02joining us have you ever found yourself

0:03out on a golf course and you've hit a

0:05few decent shots and then you hit a few

0:06dodgy shots with what you feel is

0:08exactly the same swing now you think you

0:11know what it might be so you try a few

0:13different things they don't work and you

0:15end up down a rabbit hole of just lots

0:17try this try that and it becomes very

0:19very inconsistent well in this video i

0:21want to give you a framework that will

0:23help you diagnose what's going on in

0:26your swing so that you can start to fix

0:28your problems much much quicker

0:30whilst you're out playing on a golf

0:31course and look you won't have to

0:33remember a thing i will put a free

0:34download or practice guide in the

0:36description box below

0:38okay great so what we're going to do in

0:39this diagnostic is we're going to cover

0:41three phases the first thing we're going

0:43to focus on is basically are you aware

0:46that the club needs to travel on an arc

0:48or more importantly is your club

0:51traveling on an arc the second thing is

0:53a body thing it's a structure thing is

0:55your body supporting this arc and third

0:58and finally the third down note is is

1:01are you controlling the club face or is

1:02the club face all over the place

1:04arriving open arriving closed those kind

1:06of things now we'll cover them one by

1:08one and i'll show you how to feel each

1:11individual stage so the first thing is

1:13this when you're taking us

1:15your setup

1:16we know that the club needs to travel on

1:19an arc the club doesn't go straight back

1:21up here and straight through it works on

1:24an arc a roughly if you look at this

1:26here not up there not around there

1:28roughly about 45 degrees around the body

1:31so

1:32as simple as it sounds make some swings

1:34with each individual arm drawing the

1:37shape of your swing

1:39back

1:40around and up

1:42back down to the golf ball and then look

1:44back around i know that sounds basic but

1:47you know what most of the time when

1:48people are swinging all over the place

1:50it's because their club is literally

1:52moving all over the place without them

1:54realizing do it with both hands your

1:56lead hand

1:58back here and back around into impact

2:01then through

2:02even during that simple exercise you may

2:05start to feel wow that feels a bit

2:06different my club's normally around here

2:08or my club's up there somewhere so just

2:10make some motions and join the hands

2:12together okay and just picturing the arc

2:15of the swing going backwards and

2:17forwards on roughly this 45 degree plane

2:21simple as that but

2:23is it simple

2:24second phase of this process you can

2:26just spend some time doing that the

2:27second phase is this your body needs to

2:30control this it needs to support this

2:32structure so what do i mean by that well

2:34look the next thing is is when you're on

2:36the golf course you're struggling is it

2:37because your body is moving all over the

2:39place and not supporting this beautiful

2:42arc so an example with this take a club

2:46put it under your lead arm like this

2:48hold the club face like this and what

2:51we're going to do now is this if you

2:53don't move your body correctly so let's

2:54say for instance i turn my shoulders

2:56very flat very level where is that going

2:59to send the club around if i tilt them

3:02too much or slide here whereas that's in

3:04the club this way we want to get the

3:06club where working up this way on the

3:08this arc so as i move this club

3:11backwards here i'm at my body structure

3:14and my movement is supporting this

3:16motion can you see that my shoulders are

3:18naturally tilting here more importantly

3:21i'm actually look moving this lead side

3:25because what i often see when people are

3:26really messing up on a golf course is

3:28they don't support this arc with their

3:31torso what they do

3:33is they do it look

3:34with their arms this exercise here where

3:37you put the club on your arm here is a

3:39great exercise to sense how the whole

3:42body needs to support the club working

3:44back not just the arm you can do exactly

3:47the same look with your trail arm too

3:49leave it in there

3:50backwards and forwards and notice this

3:52i'm not rolling the club face we'll come

3:54back to that in a second i'm literally

3:56controlling the whole motion

3:58with my torso once you've got that

4:01sensation you can simply start to make

4:03some swings just imagine the same thing

4:05that my whole torso look is supporting

4:08the motion all the way back here all the

4:10way back to the ball

4:12and then all the way through now once

4:14you've got that those first two feelings

4:17in play what you can do is you can now

4:19start to diagnose the first part now a

4:21recent student of mine lear who has

4:23sliced the golf ball quite badly he was

4:25able to identify that these lower bodies

4:29body weren't supporting this act they

4:30were actually rigid they were very very

4:32still which meant all he did was

4:33literally hit with the arms so he

4:36started to allow his body to support the

4:39arc on the way back his ankles his knees

4:41his hips all start to work to support

4:43their arc on the way back and

4:45on the way through yeah another client

4:48hooked the golf ball he slid on the way

4:51through right and then when he slid on

4:53the way through does that support the

4:55club coming back around on the act no it

4:57doesn't yeah so

4:59starting with those first two feel the

5:01arc first of all

5:02then ask yourself is your body

5:05helping to support the arc all the way

5:08back on all the way through if you're

5:10moving around all

5:11the way up all over the place you'll

5:13probably identify that it isn't but

5:15that's great now you can practice

5:17and just finishing on this section

5:19before moving on to step three

5:21you can imagine an almost like an axis

5:23here running right down the center of

5:24your body if you're moving all over the

5:26place it's going to be hard to maintain

5:28an arc

5:30around that central point here all right

5:32so your center there working back

5:34working it back around look at this here

5:36there's my axis one

5:39two looking after my spine all the way

5:42i'm not moving up and down all over the

5:44place yeah these kind of things here

5:46simple things a great way to diagnose

5:48whether you are making some errors now

5:50before i get into three which is super

5:52super important i did notice that 60 of

5:54you are watching videos like this i'm

5:56not subscribed to the channel so if you

5:58do love this type of content please do

6:00consider subscribing so i can look after

6:02you again for the rest of the year so

6:04going into step number three

6:07you're controlling the arc you're

6:09controlling it with a body structure

6:11fantastic the third thing to consider if

6:14that's all working good but you're still

6:16not hitting a good shot are you

6:18controlling the club face and the club

6:20face is super simple

6:22you've got to make sure that you have a

6:24pressure on the face pressure on the ark

6:27let me show you what i mean by that a

6:29lot of players when you're swinging here

6:31are literally taking the pressure off

6:33they're rolling the face away i'll

6:35probably show you with a tennis racket

6:36as a better visual here

6:39put a tennis racket against my club here

6:41i want this club face look to keep

6:43completely under control i've controlled

6:45it i'm not rolling it around if i put my

6:47hand here i've got a pressure down on

6:50that face now what i'm going to do here

6:52look i'm going to literally

6:54keep that pressure on all the way to the

6:56top so my palm of my hand here i've got

6:59pressure going this way still a pressure

7:01still a pressure still a pressure i'm

7:02supporting the club face all the way to

7:05the top

7:06on the way down look i'm going to keep

7:08the pressure on that club face all the

7:11way down to the bottom imagine if i did

7:14this which so often people doing

7:17take the pressure off

7:18now i end up kind of chopping at it what

7:21do you notice about my hand it's there's

7:22no pressure on the face i am literally

7:25dragging it down as i'm dragging it down

7:27the clubface look

7:29is wide open what am i going to do here

7:32i'm going to probably slice across it

7:34that's your slice all right last minute

7:36oh my god

7:37flip it so the hands have to suddenly

7:40rotate so how can you feel this

7:43just imagine here

7:46take my grip here make sure the hands

7:48you've got decent grip this top hand is

7:50nicely on the the club face not

7:52underneath here can't put pressure on

7:54the shaft that way

7:55literally keep it on the shaft all the

7:58way back pressure

8:00still got it look pressure as the palm

8:02this is the important the palm is moving

8:03to the ceiling as the palm moves to the

8:06ceiling what's happening to the butt end

8:07of this golf club it's going out towards

8:10you

8:11this is super important why because i'm

8:13moving my pants to the ceiling this is

8:15helping me look get the structure of the

8:17body too to support this motion if i

8:21didn't get the palm going to the ceiling

8:22and i just did this

8:25can you see how this becomes just handsy

8:28arms immersion i am not supporting this

8:31beautiful arc on the way back now again

8:34just if you see any of the top players

8:36on tv you'll see them doing all kind of

8:37weird stuff with the wristlet almost we

8:39call it bowing on the way down why are

8:41they doing that why because look

8:44they are putting a pressure on the shaft

8:46look at that face now

8:48it's pressure

8:49down onto the golf ball if i didn't have

8:51this and i did this

8:53the face is wide open now what i'm gonna

8:55have to do

8:56flip it or if i don't flip it i come

8:59across it and i get a big slice so

9:02play around with this get yourself set

9:04here whether it's your lead hand or your

9:05top hand doesn't matter feel at some

9:07stage

9:08you have that pressure on that shaft

9:10still got the pressure on the shaft all

9:12the way down into impact then start

9:15hitting a few shots from there

9:24so in summary

9:25you know you've got three things to

9:26diagnose when you're out playing you

9:28know is it just a conceptual thing have

9:30you got an arc with the club simple as

9:33that is it going on a knack or is it

9:34looping around spend some time feeling

9:37it yeah

9:38if you've got the feel of it then ask

9:39yourself is your body supporting that

9:42structure the whole thing so your feet

9:44your knees your torso are you working it

9:46around on this arc here

9:49are you jumping ahead you know that's

9:50going to shift it off there is your body

9:52supporting it just learn to get a sense

9:54of what your body's doing most of the

9:57time i love the visual it's just a

9:58simple axis running straight down the

10:00spine visualizing this motion going

10:02right and left super super simple but

10:06what can throw all of that off is the

10:08club face if your club face is

10:10approaching open you're gonna have to do

10:13weird stuff with the body so sometimes

10:15what i do is i go to the club face first

10:18club face simple remember keep the

10:19pressure on the face

10:22simple exercise palm to the floor here

10:24work it to the sky you'll notice when i

10:26do this by the way my

10:28palms go into the sky here this elbow is

10:30going outwards it's not going inwards

10:32this is the problem here yeah palm to

10:34the sky look after that face

10:37then you know keep that pressure on the

10:39best players even get the almost the

10:41wrist bowing here why because they're

10:42putting pressure on that face on the way

10:45down from there just simply rip straight

10:47into

10:48that golf ball okay spend some time

10:51working on these things and they will

10:53help you start to diagnose what specific

10:55areas you need to focus on and therefore

10:57improve so i hope you did enjoy the

10:59video if you did give it a thumbs up
