0:00every Danny right here thanks for
0:02joining us this week I want to strip the
0:03golfing back to his bare essentials what
0:07three things could you do right now that
0:10could make a dramatic change to your
0:12golf swing
0:13maybe you're finding that maybe you feel
0:15like you've lost your swing
0:16maybe there's so much advice out there
0:18where do you start well this week's very
0:20interesting because my wife after 20
0:22years has decided that she wants to pick
0:24up golf for the first time so we had a
0:26very first lesson and what was really
0:29interesting is when we started she can
0:32add in a star very well you know just
0:34like most people who would be playing
0:35for years she looked very uncoordinated
0:38she had a very ristic swing with his
0:41club head waving around almost
0:43impossible to get the consistent
0:45striking and a squareness of face not
0:48only that she was moving a body around
0:51left and right all over the place and
0:53the question is how do I get somebody
0:58like that playing and swinging kind of
1:01well without cluttering their head full
1:04of stuff well in this week's training I
1:06get I'm going to give you the three
1:08things that I gave Laura and I know that
1:10know whether you're a beginner go for
1:11somebody who's kind of just wants
1:13something simple to improve that swing
1:14this week's training will be really
1:16really useful so before we get into it
1:19though if you're new to a channel and
1:20this is one of your first videos
1:21consider subscribing if you press a lot
1:24bellboy and next this is the subscribe
1:26button
1:26you get content like this every single
1:29week so I can come and help you improve
1:30your game so where did we start with
1:33Laura first and how could you start well
1:36the very first thing is clearly set up
1:38like a lot of people when Laura died she
1:41kind of wasn't realizing that this was a
1:43sport so the first thing we got to do is
1:45get in through very simple into a nice
1:46athletic position initially so what I
1:49did was the I played this little game
1:51we've used this before if you if you're
1:52regular to the channel is imagine you're
1:55getting yourself set up here and you're
1:57coming at me and you're getting it and
1:59I'm gonna come at you and you're gonna
2:00brace yourself so you get yourself ready
2:02that's the first thing you've got to get
2:04those athleticism here we're not stood
2:06up like this you know you're ready I'm
2:08gonna come at you and you're gonna stop
2:10me yeah so the first thing is we want to
2:12have a
2:13athleticism checkpoints we want to look
2:15for in this situation here if you hang a
2:18club down from your armpit here it kind
2:21of wants to be running through the front
2:22part of your knee down into the balls of
2:26your feet and you want to feel out your
2:28shins here are angled forward so there's
2:30just simply an athleticism to what
2:33you're doing and that is it so the first
2:35thing we did with Laura is simply
2:36getting into a nice athletic position
2:38did that make a change not really but it
2:42give us a starting point and it's where
2:44you anyone should start to play golf
2:46very few people when they come to see me
2:48ever set up in this athletic position
2:50they want to be more powerful they want
2:52to be more consistent but they just
2:54can't until they get this that's the
2:56step number one number two we then said
3:00look when she started she simply just
3:04swung with her arms and what was
3:05happening here is this these shoulders
3:07are moving a lot I see this a lot but
3:09nothing's moving around here so I I
3:11talked to her about moving the core and
3:14when I view but you know what none of
3:16that really seemed to work either so
3:17well what do we do how do we get this
3:20swing more coordinated now why do we
3:22want to be more coordinated well if
3:24you're swinging with your arms like this
3:26you can see here there's no real power
3:27so you lose power the other thing is if
3:30the Cubs waving around a lot like this
3:32it's opening and closing a lot so it's
3:35very difficult to get that Club
3:37back to square straight so you can hit
3:39those lovely straight shots so what we
3:42want to achieve is a more controlled
3:45motion where look at that that face of
3:48the club now is what we call more stable
3:50it's not welting around all over the
3:52place so what I want you to do is
3:54imagine this I want you to work out
3:56we've got to work out how are we gonna
3:57get this lovely coordinated motion how
4:00could you go about doing this
4:02with Laura what I did was this I
4:04actually got her to move the feet so I
4:09got it to set ok right what do I do now
4:11though I want to make a swing and wait
4:13to move the feet but actually doing this
4:16I want you to stay very centered here so
4:19like a lot of people she's got to move
4:21backwards and forwards yeah and we don't
4:24want to we want to stay nice and center
4:26sir she's
4:26started to move backwards and forwards
4:29because now our hips are moving her
4:31tummy moves because the tummy moves her
4:34shoulders move now look at this now the
4:36swing is more coordinated when I feet
4:39were just planted to the deck
4:41this was frozen this midriffs was frozen
4:43and all she was doing was making a
4:45shoulder motion this is I see this a lot
4:48if you find that you get stuck inside a
4:50lot this is often the reason the arms
4:52are working a hell of a lot
4:53none of this midriffs working great for
4:57senior golfers this as well great for
4:58people who need that extra bit of
5:00flexibility but you've got to get that
5:02core working so we've got her in a
5:04balanced position we've got a host
5:05pivoting backwards and for she said it's
5:08like freaky shaky Stephens but we're
5:10just moving backwards and forwards
5:12staying very centered but as she was
5:15doing this the club is still wafting
5:19around so we're getting progress but
5:21we're not really kind of getting any at
5:23this stage any improvements in the
5:24strike so she's getting the freedom
5:27we're getting some coordination now in
5:29the actual golf swing and we've got some
5:32athleticism in the posture but this club
5:34is still wafting she's got coordination
5:36but the clubs all over the place move on
5:39to stage number three now this wasn't
5:42something that we came up with
5:43straightaway it took a while so we went
5:46again learning to strip the swing down
5:47to his bare essentials it's quite tricky
5:48so that is right okay what I want to do
5:51now is this I want you to clench your
5:53fists I want to put your thumbs up here
5:55okay see ya you're bending forward and
5:57then what we're going to do is this I
5:59want you to make that hip movement I
6:01don't want you get your thumbs now
6:03parallel with your spine angle here so
6:05we're going to do one two and what we're
6:08gonna do with backwards and forwards now
6:11keeping those arms and the thumbs power
6:14with a spine oh no look at this they're
6:16very close to each other all time
6:18backwards and forwards now look look at
6:21how much more coordinate this is
6:22announcin lee the club isn't waving
6:25around anymore she's now getting the
6:26sensation of this wonderfully
6:29coordinated motion now when we first
6:32started it she'd still move a bit side
6:33to side so we said just keep imagining
6:35your centerline here okay so then she
6:38started to feel like a core was working
6:40as well
6:40so now we go so we've got that Martian
6:43going backwards and forwards I then said
6:46take the club same principle take it in
6:50your strongest hand so she's
6:51right-handed you could if you're if you
6:53play golf right handy but your strongest
6:55has left hunting you can do it in your
6:56left but take the club now in your
6:58strongest hand mine's my right I'm gonna
7:00put my thumb up here close my fist get
7:03into a nice athletic balance position
7:05and then what we're going to do is this
7:07we're going to then pivot the body
7:09backwards and forwards here with the
7:11hips keeping the thumbs look there and
7:14then now notice it's just a very small
7:16swing at this stage okay
7:19we're learning to get their coordination
7:20backwards and forwards
7:22I then said okay what peg a ball upon a
7:25tee and so let's imagine that now so
7:28what you're going to do is you're going
7:28to mixed up the swing with you with us
7:30feet backwards and forwards just
7:32imagining those thumbs up here and here
7:36someone - now we've got yourself set
7:41small a little swing one two no real big
7:46hits at this stage just tapping it
7:47forward okay just literally chipping all
7:50we're trying to do is get the sensation
7:51of this movement so pivot to the right
7:55pivot to the left there's no strikes at
7:57the stage it's just literally getting a
7:59sensation of the body moving right left
8:03nothing fancy but she's going away and I
8:08was a little bit impatient she wants to
8:10smash the ball so we and most people
8:14want to hit a bit further down there
8:15right so how do you then from that
8:16position start to build it up well we
8:19said right from here what we're gonna do
8:20is this she's got the body moves you got
8:24the hips movement her body started to
8:26coordinate now the final bit here in the
8:28piece of jigsaw it's from there she
8:31simply moves the thumbs up to a 45
8:33degree position here so it's here power
8:36with spine 45 now the mistakes she made
8:40a note earlier she went here I went and
8:42lifted that's not what we're after we're
8:44simply going to get to here and move the
8:46thumbs to 45 and that then simply
8:50creates the extra bit of power because
8:52something when she gets to here all
8:54then is that okay so that was the final
8:58piece of the jigsaw here and suddenly we
9:01started to see this more coordinated
9:05powerful swing now let's show you how we
9:08gradually built this up so we've got our
9:11posture in place we've got the legs
9:14pivoting here this is the summary so let
9:16the load pipping that gets the core
9:18working but we've got to get those hands
9:20more coordinated thumbs up here one two
9:25one two you could go one two three one
9:36two three
9:39this will get your feeling what's going
9:41with the hands and then bit by bit we
9:43said don't be perfect now don't have to
9:45be perfect do you want to start small
9:47start there
9:47move those feet for you like
9:49coordination one two and away we go one
9:55two I know where we go well you've got
9:59to remember most people who are
10:00struggling at this game they just stay
10:03to still so in golf we need this balance
10:06between control yes
10:09but also mobility most people are
10:12literally like this they're rock solid
10:13they've got maximum control but they've
10:15got no control of the ball because they
10:17just stills to stiffen to to still and
10:21then like Laura you've got somebody
10:23who's out of control just moving around
10:25all over the place you need to marry
10:27those two things together so you have
10:29control and dynamism all in one so we've
10:33got the balance you've got the freedom
10:36of the core you free up this core you're
10:38then free up coordination finally you've
10:41got the club control of this club here
10:43with a thumbs always matching the spine
10:47and backwards and forwards like this
10:51flick the RIC or the thumbs now 2:45
10:54back into position here back to square
10:56and then through and then away you go
10:59that was session 1 we're going to share
11:01more of large progress put it live
11:04actually on camera at some stage but
11:05these are the three fundamentals that
11:08would really get your game going simple
11:11as that hope you enjoyed the training if
11:13you did give it a thumbs up maybe share
11:14it with somebody else I maybe share with
11:15a few beginners who are looking at
11:17getting started of course use the
11:20channel come and subscribe so I can see
11:22you next week but until next week have a
11:24great golfing week
