0:00Welcome to today's video on how to set

0:02up Google credentials inside of NADN as

0:04well as some other API connections that

0:07you will need if we want to be using

0:09NAND heavily. Now, I strongly recommend

0:13hooking up your Google credentials to

0:16NAND because there are almost certainly

0:19going to be instances where you want to

0:21include one of the Google services in an

0:23automation. Now in the automations that

0:26I produce for authors the uh we use

0:29Google Docs quite heavily. Now you could

0:31theoretically use something like notion

0:34or Dropbox or Microsoft one drive

0:37instead but I find that most people are

0:40familiar with Google Docs and Google

0:42Sheets and all of that. And I tend to go

0:44towards the thing that is going to be

0:46the less headache for people. I don't

0:48want a whole bunch of you to have to

0:50learn how to use Notion just to make

0:52these automations work. Most of you are

0:54familiar with Google Docs. So, Google

0:56Docs is what I use in my automations

0:59pretty heavily. And so, unfortunately,

1:02there is a small setup uh process that

1:06happens when you're setting up your

1:08Google Docs inside of NAND. And this is

1:10probably the most technical video that

1:13I'm going to be producing about NADN.

1:16But once you get through this, and I

1:18will walk you through every step,

1:20there's also going to be a written guide

1:22down below in the description, which I

1:24don't normally put that sort of thing in

1:26the descriptions, but because this is a

1:28process that requires a a little bit of

1:31attention to detail, I'm putting that in

1:33there just to help you along. [snorts]

1:35So, let's first talk about why you would

1:36need this. And the the main reason is a

1:39lot of the text that is used by on

1:42automation can be stored in Google Docs

1:45as well as outputed. Anything that the

1:47AI outputs, we want to put that

1:49information somewhere where we can

1:51access it and a Google doc is a good way

1:53to do that. Additionally, there might be

1:56instances where you might need it to

1:58access your Gmail account or something

2:00like that. As you can see in this

2:01particular automation, which I won't get

2:03into, you can see right here, I actually

2:07have it access quite a number of

2:09documents before it even gets started.

2:12And in order to have these documents,

2:14you absolutely need Google credentials.

2:16And one of the ways you can look at how

2:19to set up these credentials is to double

2:22click on any one of these. And you'll

2:24see here it says credentials to connect

2:26with. And right now you, if you're doing

2:29this for the first time, you won't see

2:30it say Google Docs account here like it

2:32says on mine. Let me zoom in here a

2:34little bit because I've already set mine

2:36up here. Instead, you'll probably see

2:38something like this that says create new

2:40credential. And you can click on that

2:42and it'll bring you to this page. And so

2:45what we need to do is fill out this

2:47client ID and the client secret to in

2:50order to get this Google Docs connected.

2:54And thankfully you can do this process

2:56once and it will work for all of the

2:58different Google products. So that's

3:00Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google

3:02Slides, Gmail, etc. Uh all we only need

3:06to do this once thankfully. Uh but it is

3:09a little bit of a complicated process to

3:10get this set up. Another way of

3:12accessing this if you don't want to go

3:14through an actual automation like this

3:17one is from your NADN dashboard. You can

3:21see up here where it says create

3:22workflow, click the little icon here and

3:26instead say create credential.

3:30And then you can search through here on

3:31what kind of credentials you're looking

3:33for. So if you just look through Google

3:36um

3:38let's say Google Drive

3:40and select Google Drive ooth 2 API.

3:45That's one of the ones that we'll need

3:47to do. Now, like I said, you only have

3:49to get the credentials once, but you

3:51will have to plug those credentials in

3:54multiple times for each different thing.

3:56So, the hard part you only have to do

3:58once, but you do have to take those

3:59credentials and and stick them into

4:02multiple things. As you can see, I've

4:04got multiple credentials set up here.

4:06Uh, namely, I've got Google Drive,

4:08Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google

4:10Sheets Trigger account, and a Gmail

4:12account. And those are the ones that I

4:14use most frequently. But if I were to

4:16use like say Google slides or something,

4:18I would need to set that up as well.

4:19Thankfully, I can use the same uh

4:22credentials. Uh you'll notice also I

4:24have anthropic and open router here. I

4:26will walk you through at the end how to

4:28set those up and particularly open

4:30router because it's the most versatile

4:32and it's the best one to start with in

4:33my opinion and it's the one that I use

4:35most frequently in my automations. But

4:37we'll get to that a little bit later

4:39because right now we're just focusing on

4:40getting Google Docs integrated because

4:42that is the most difficult step. Google

4:44unfortunately makes this whole process

4:46egregiously difficult to set up, but

4:50thankfully once you get through it, it's

4:52all smooth sailing from there. Like this

4:54is literally going to be the hardest

4:56technical thing that you have to do in

4:57this whole process. So to get this

5:00process started, you need to come to

5:02console.cloud.google.com.

5:04Okay? And I will link to this down

5:07below. Uh but this is where you come to

5:10create your autom your credentials. And

5:13you can see I'm already working in

5:14something that I've built here called

5:16NAND automations. So the next thing that

5:18you need to do is up here where it says

5:21it won't say NAND automations for you,

5:23but you'll see something else here. You

5:25just click on this and then you hit this

5:28button here that says new project. And

5:30from here you can call this whatever you

5:31want. I'm just going to call it test

5:33project

5:35because I'm only doing this for this

5:37video. And after I'm done with this

5:39video, I will delete this. And I don't

5:40have any organization listed here. So I

5:43just leave this one blank and hit

5:45create. So the next thing that we want

5:47to do is get these client credentials.

5:50And so if we go back to the Google page,

5:54so from here from

5:55console.cloud.google.com,

5:57if you see this little hamburger icon

5:59here in the top left corner, you click

6:01on that, go to APIs and services, and

6:04then hit library. Now make sure you have

6:07the correct project listed here. Now you

6:10can see it's actually on my NAND

6:12automations project which is not the one

6:14that I want it to be on. We want to

6:16select that new test project that I

6:17created. So just double check to make

6:19sure you've got the correct project uh

6:22selected here in the top left corner. So

6:25from this API library page, you want to

6:28scroll down until you see Google

6:30Workspace and click view all. And from

6:33here, you want to select any of the

6:36Google services that you think you'll be

6:37using inside of NADN. I would say you

6:41definitely want the Google the Gmail

6:44API. So, go ahead and hit enable on

6:47that. So, of these, the ones that I

6:49would definitely enable are Gmail,

6:51Google Drive. Um, you'll probably want,

6:54yeah, this one, the Google Docs API, the

6:56Google Sheets API, probably the Google

6:59Forms API, and the Google Slides API.

7:03There may be more on here that you might

7:04want, but those are definitely the big

7:06ones that you definitely want to start

7:08with. So, once again, go through each

7:10one, click on it,

7:12hit enable, and then repeat that for

7:15every single one that you want to use.

7:16So the next step that we want to go to

7:18is once again go up to the hamburger

7:20icon here. Go to APIs and services and

7:24then hit OOTH consent screen and then

7:27navigate down here to where it says

7:28audience and it'll show you the Google

7:31off platform not configured yet. Get

7:33started to configure your application's

7:34identity and manage credentials for

7:36calling Google APIs and sign in with

7:38Google. So go ahead and hit get started

7:40on that. And what you're doing is

7:43essentially creating a sort of internal

7:45app. Um, and so just give it a name. I'm

7:48just going to call it test app

7:52for now. Your user support email can

7:54just be your regular email. And then hit

7:57next. And for most of you, you're going

7:58to want to select under audience, select

8:00external. Uh, unless this is something

8:04like if you have a setup Google

8:06Workspace in your organization, if you

8:08have like a business that already has

8:09some kind of internal uh, thing, you can

8:12do that. But otherwise, you just select

8:15external. That's going to be for most of

8:16you. Note that even though we say

8:18external, it's not actually going to be

8:20external for just anybody to see that.

8:23It'll be something that'll be kept

8:24private to your account. So, under

8:26contact information, just put your email

8:28address in there. Select I agree and

8:31continue. And then hit create. And now

8:33we go back here under audience. Go under

8:36where it says test users and say add

8:38users. And make sure your email address

8:41is listed here. And then you should be

8:43able to see your email under there under

8:45the test users. All right. And now

8:47finally, the next step is to actually

8:49set up our credentials that we need

8:51inside of NADN. So for that, go back up

8:54to the hamburger icon, go back to APIs

8:57and services, and then select

8:58credentials. From this screen, you go up

9:01here to where it says create create

9:02credentials. Click on that and then say

9:05OOTH client ID. You want this to be a

9:07web application here. Name this whatever

9:10you want. I'm just going to call it test

9:12application. Then scroll down a bit and

9:14you'll see this one that says authorize

9:16redirect URLs. Go ahead and select add

9:19URL. And then this is an important

9:22moment. If we go back to NADN in uh as

9:26we're setting up our client ID and

9:29client secret here and everything,

9:30you'll notice it has this ooth redirect

9:32URL. You want to go ahead and copy that

9:35and then paste it into

9:38this specific space. And once you've got

9:41this URL in the correct place, go ahead

9:44and hit create. And from here, you will

9:47see the client ID and client secret

9:50right here. Make sure you copy these and

9:52put them in a safe place so you know

9:54where they are. I don't mind just

9:55showing you this here because um

9:58essentially I'm just going to be

9:59deleting this as soon as I finish this

10:02video. Uh but you want to just copy

10:05this. Go to your NAD credentials. Paste

10:07it in.

10:09Copy the other one. The client secret.

10:12Paste that in here. But you'll notice

10:13this little warning here that says

10:15starting in June 2025, you will no

10:17longer be able to view or download the

10:19client secret. Once you close this

10:21dialogue, make sure you have copied or

10:22downloaded the information below and

10:24securely stored it. So, please, if you

10:27don't want to have to go through these

10:28steps again, make sure that you copy the

10:32client ID and the client secret and put

10:34it in a safe and secure place. I like to

10:36use a platform like Last Pass, which

10:38saves all my passwords and stuff, but

10:40you can also have secure notes in

10:43LastPass. That's just how I do it to

10:45make sure that information like this is

10:47still encrypted, but I can access it

10:49easily. Um, that's what I do. Uh, but at

10:53the very least, jot this down somewhere

10:55so that you don't lose it. Otherwise,

10:57you're going to have to go through this

10:58entire process again to create a new

11:00client ID and a new client secret to

11:02then put inside of your your credentials

11:05in NAND. So, now that you have the

11:07client ID and the client secret in here,

11:09all you have to do here is click this

11:11button that says sign in with Google.

11:12It'll bring up something like this. You

11:14go ahead and select it and it'll say

11:17Google hasn't verified this app. And the

11:19reason it says this is because it's

11:20worried that this could be some kind of

11:23third party malicious thing that is

11:26getting access to your data, but you

11:28created this app. So, it's not actually,

11:30you know, it's not malicious. So, all

11:31you have to do is select continue.

11:34Select all of the different things that

11:36it wants to access. So, just select all

11:40and then hit continue. and it'll be

11:42done. And now you have successfully

11:44filled out your Google Drive um

11:48credentials here. Now, I'm going to go

11:50ahead and delete this because I don't

11:51need it. But you will need to get that

11:53same client ID and client secret for

11:55each of the Google automations here.

11:57Now, thankfully, you only once you've

11:59got the client ID and the client secret,

12:02you just copy and paste into each of

12:03these and run through the same process.

12:05You can see if I click on Gmail, for

12:07example, I've got the client ID and the

12:08client secret here. and you just copy

12:10and paste those for each of the

12:12different accounts. And from there, you

12:14should be good to go as far as

12:16establishing your Google credentials and

12:18uh everything should work. I do

12:21sometimes have to reconnect my Google

12:24account, but really all I need to do for

12:26that is, you know, if we come to this

12:29and you just say sign in with Google,

12:31it'll walk you through that sign up

12:32process that I did right at the end

12:34there. And you just have to repeat that.

12:36But you don't have to go and get a new

12:38client ID and all of that again

12:40thankfully. All right. Now, I'm going to

12:42show you how to set up Open Router. Um,

12:45you can run through a very similar

12:46process to set up Anthropic to set up

12:48OpenAI

12:50uh to set up any of the others. And if

12:52you've worked with a platform like

12:54Novelcrafter or Raptorite to write your

12:56books, this should be a familiar process

12:58to you. So uh open router if you are

13:01unfamiliar is a uh third-party platform

13:04where all they essentially provide

13:08access to most of the major AI models

13:12out there. And so I use open router as

13:15my primary interface with NAN in order

13:18to provide the actual AI words that get

13:22generated. If you don't have an open

13:24router account, I strongly recommend you

13:26create one and then add five bucks to it

13:28or something so that it can draw from

13:30that as you're creating your work. U but

13:34then in order to get the API key that we

13:37need, we go up here to the top and go to

13:41keys. And from here you want to select

13:44create an API key. Give it a name. We'll

13:47just call this test API.

13:50Um, and uh, you can leave the rest of

13:53this blank. Then hit create. And then

13:55it'll give you this long string of

13:57numbers. Again, I don't mind you guys

13:59seeing this because I'm just going to

14:00delete it afterward. U, but just go

14:04ahead and copy that. Then go back to

14:07NADN. And what we'll do is go ahead up

14:11here at the top right, select this

14:13little icon, select create credential

14:15again, and search for Open Router. Once

14:19you've found Open Router, hit continue.

14:21And then all you have to do is paste

14:22that API key right there and then hit

14:24save. And that's all you have to do.

14:26It's really simple. A lot more simple

14:28than getting your Google credentials set

14:31up. And the same is very much true for

14:34Anthropic or OpenAI or Gemini and all of

14:37their credentials. All you have to do is

14:39just go find the right API key for those

14:42platforms, which is you can easily

14:43Google that how to how to find those API

14:45keys and then just paste them in here. I

14:48do find Open Router to be uh

14:50refreshingly simple though in setting

14:51this up. And honestly, if you've got

14:53Open Router set up and your Google Docs

14:56credentials set up, that will take care

14:58of like 90% of the automations that I

15:02would show you. So, definitely get those

15:05out of the way first and from there we

15:09can actually get started creating

15:12automations. So hopefully this has been

15:13useful for you and I will see you in the

15:16next
