0:00This is the first piece of content I

0:01ever made.

0:02>> Don't let your

0:03This is the first ad I ever made.

0:04>> tired of fitness places that are

0:06>> today, we make 450 pieces per week. I

0:08broke the Guinness World Record for the

0:09fastest selling non-fiction of all time,

0:10106 million dollars in sales in a

0:12weekend. We have a portfolio of

0:12companies that did north of 250 million

0:14dollars in aggregate revenue last year.

0:16In this video, I want to show you just

0:17how far anyone [music] can come and not

0:19to judge your first chapter by someone

0:20else's 25th or thousandth chapter. Also,

0:23quick shout out to Dom Mazzetti, you're

0:24the one who inspired me for making this.

0:26Here's one promise I can make to you.

0:28You will be cringe. And so, let's define

0:31these terms real quick. Shame is

0:33breaking someone else's rules. Guilt is

0:35breaking your own rules. Cringe is

0:37supposed second-hand embarrassment.

0:40Someone saying, "Oh, that's cringe."

0:41Saying, "I'm embarrassed for them." But

0:43in reality, it's a defensive status

0:45play, which means you should interpret

0:47it as if someone says, "Oh, that's

0:48cringe." They said that to you, it

0:50means, "I'm beginning to change my

0:51status relative to other people or

0:53relative to them, and therefore, I'm on

0:55the right path." And so, we have to ask

0:57the question like, "Whose rules are we

0:59breaking? Did we agree to their rules?

1:01If we set the rules, what outcome do

1:02those rules optimize for?" A rule is an

1:04if-then statement. Is that true? How do

1:06we know that? And why does that matter?

1:08People seeing you try hard will say,

1:11"Why are you taking this so seriously?

1:13Why do you even care?" But the truth is,

1:15they've never cared about anything in

1:17their lives. Like, when's the last time

1:19they took anything seriously? Of course,

1:22never, and it shows. And so, I had a guy

1:24once come up to me and tell me that he

1:26saw how hard I was trying with content,

1:29and then he said he almost outsourced

1:31all of it down to Charles Week, and he

1:33was and he was like, yeah, like bragging

1:34about it. And I said, "Yeah, it shows."

1:36He just like looked at me, and I was

1:37like, "Yeah, it shows, right?" He was

1:40trying to be cool about the fact that he

1:42didn't try hard, but all it looked like

1:43was that he was losing.

1:45But back to point, is it cringe to care?

1:49Yes, of course it's cringe. You can make

1:51anything cringe by just caring about it.

1:53And the only people who think caring

1:55isn't cool are people in high school or

1:57people who got older but never grew up.

2:00So, be real about this for a second.

2:02Just changing how I talk about something

2:04can make it sound cringe. So, in the

2:07fitness world where I came from, right?

2:09Bodybuilding, you could be obsessed over

2:10muscles, oiling up and posing in tiny

2:13trunks on a stage for strangers. Right?

2:16Maybe competitive chess, right? Staring

2:18at a board for hours in dead silence,

2:20obsessing over wooden pieces like your

2:22life depends on it. Making YouTube

2:24videos, cringe. Setting up light You're

2:26going to set up your little lights and

2:28talk to your little camera like an idiot

2:29like no one's listening, right? Editing

2:31for hours just for a couple views and

2:33comments. Oh, writing a book, that's

2:35cringe. Locking yourself away for months

2:38or years, pouring your soul into words

2:40that most people will never read. Like

2:41you know just go sit away type on your

2:42keyboard, right? Anyone can make

2:45anything cringe, right? Because anyone

2:48who cares about anything is cringe. But,

2:51the worst and I think um Dom Mazzetti

2:53said this and I love this. The cringiest

2:55thing of all is to be scared about

2:57looking cringe. So, why are you hating

2:59on someone else who actually has a

3:01passion or an interest or actually

3:02tries? Like do we really want a world

3:04where people care less? Because when you

3:05make that claim like who do you really

3:07hate? Who does the person who says

3:09that's cringe really hate? Do you hate

3:11them for committing to something or

3:13yourself for lacking the guts to commit

3:15to anything? I want to show this in the

3:17the realest form I possibly could. I

3:19went through the archives. I scrolled

3:20all the way back and I um I'm a weirdo

3:22about like I try to keep everything. So,

3:25I have like my lifelong texts and videos

3:27and and and and um and and pictures and

3:29I'm very grateful for that. So, I'll

3:31give you a tiny piece of advice to

3:32anybody who's on the journey right now.

3:34Document more. Like what I would say I

3:36don't have any regrets in life, but one

3:37of them is that I didn't document the

3:39the struggle. I didn't document the

3:40journey because I was ashamed of it. I

3:42didn't want anyone to know. It's kind of

3:43like the people who like when they're

3:44overweight, they don't want to take

3:45pictures of themselves cuz they're

3:46ashamed. But, it's like one, you got to

3:48face reality. And two, if you believe

3:51that you're going to win, this will be

3:52part of the story you tell. And so, you

3:54like Kanye was documenting in the very

3:56early days cuz he believed so hardcore

3:58that he was going to win, right? And I'm

4:00grateful cuz I knew the first the moment

4:02that I actually started documenting

4:03purposefully was the day that I had a

4:05thousand dollars in my life in my bank

4:06account after I lost everything. I was

4:07like, I will never let this happen again

4:09and this will be the beginning of my

4:10comeback story. Hey guys, real quick,

4:12many of you guys are getting started in

4:14business and don't know but other

4:15entrepreneurs have already tried to

4:16help. And so, 3.6 million copies were

4:19donated by other entrepreneurs in my

4:20book launch and I'm donating these books

4:22as well. And so, if you're starting in

4:24business and you would like the ultimate

4:25business backpack, all three books, this

4:27one shows you how to figure out what to

4:28sell, this shows you how to get people

4:30to find out about it and this one shows

4:32you how to make money from it. When you

4:33have all three, you can actually get

4:34started. All right, on top of that, you

4:36have 30 days of school that you can get

4:38absolutely free and all of this,

4:40including the books, including school,

4:41including shipping is 16 bucks. Yeah,

4:43like we lose money on this. So, go grab

4:45it. Um,

4:46it's the ultimate thing I can give you,

4:48my gift. Uh, enjoy. Um, if you go there

4:51and it shut down, it's cuz we ran out

4:52but as long as the link still works,

4:54there's books. And so,

4:56I want to show you some real stuff.

4:58That's That's tough.

5:00Um, but I hope you enjoy it because I

5:02think everyone, you know, many people

5:03will compare their current chapter to

5:05like my chapter or somebody else's

5:06chapter, whoever your your person is but

5:08it's not real.

5:10It's made up. Like Like compare it to

5:13this. This is the first ad I ever made.

5:16Now compare that to my first

5:18professional ad that I ever made. It's

5:22super cringe.

5:23Okay, here's my cringey first post where

5:26I was trying to get people to give me

5:27money.

5:30Right? I'm just like, "Hey, I started

5:32this thing. Please, please give me

5:33money." Right? Here is my first content

5:36piece that I ever made.

5:38Sounds very dialed, right? There's

5:40strong hook, strong meat, strong payoff.

5:42No, it's horrible, right? Back. And this

5:45is the first YouTube video that I made

5:47when I started making YouTube content.

5:48And this is my first IG post.

5:53Now, 90 days after that first ad that I

5:56showed you, um

5:58I lost everything for the second time.

6:00And that's when I made my first podcast.

6:03And so, my goal was to document the

6:06lessons so that I had something to look

6:07back to as I moved up in my career. And

6:09I thought it'd be really cool if Buffett

6:11or Bezos or Musk had done some sort of

6:13like video diaries of the come up, the

6:16top, right? As something that like an

6:18artifact for us to learn from that we

6:20could follow in their footsteps.

6:21Unfortunately, the world is too rational

6:23of a place to reward the undeserving.

6:25That's a Charlie Munger quote. In order

6:26to get what you want, you must deserve

6:28what you want, which really means that

6:29you've got to be good. And the only way

6:31to get good is to be willing to be bad

6:32for a very long time.

6:34And so, this is my promise to you, is

6:35that you will be cringe. These videos,

6:38these pieces of content, your first

6:40product, they will be cringe, but you

6:42will also not be alone. And so, the

6:44point is this, you'll figure it out as

6:46long as you start, take feedback to get

6:49better, and never stop. And if this

6:50motivated you to stop judging yourself,

6:52cuz hopefully these are super cringe. I

6:54made an entire video on the iterative

6:56process that I followed to get here,

6:57which you can watch. See what this is.

6:59Hey guys, and in your next installment

7:02of the mind game series, uh I just want

7:05to talk about love versus discipline.

7:07And

7:08it's a topic that I feel like gets

7:10totally misconstrued within the fitness

7:11industry because

7:13Hey guys, welcome. Okay. So,

7:15>> [laughter]

7:15>> measuring yourself is a really important

7:17thing in tracking progress so that you

7:18can make adjustments to your meal plan.

7:20Make sense?

7:21You want to track as many variables as

7:24you possibly can. The reason for that is

7:25not because you want to see

7:26>> What? Where was the recording button?

7:28I don't know.

7:30A trainer? Like I have no idea. Hi guys,

7:33I'm Alex and I'm the owner of United

7:35Fitness. So, welcome to our family.

7:37Thank you for the opportunity to earn

7:39your business.

7:42more about what we do. Uh United
