0:00Çilingir Sofrası 37 / My son, give the seed to its owner! ***Translated by Prof.Dr.Nükhet Kardam***
0:02So where are we going on horseback? We are going to India but we should go slowly
0:06we should not be galloping It is far away so we need to take it easy
0:10So that means we can listen to some beautiful music
0:15Can: Both resting here and there and listening to music
0:19perhaps following the rhythm of a horse
0:22Sinan: We don’t have a guitar but we have a bendir
0:27Sinan: I would like to dedicate this to Şeyma Bobaroğlu
0:30I know she likes this one
Sinan Yasdıman Yunus Emre’nin “Hak Bir Gönül Verdi Bana” ilahisini bendir eşliğinde seslendiriyor ve Şeyma Bobaroğlu’na ithaf ediyor.
İlahileri alkışlamıyoruz, zevk ediyoruz. 🙂
3:55They don’t applaud ilahis
3:58When we hear an Ilahi, it is better not to applaud.
4:02That doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate them.
4:04We enjoy them regardless.
4:16So we have gotten closer to India
4:19And we were listening to our own music as we went along and reached the border of India.
4:25And now we will learn about Indian wisdom.
4:29We won’t be able to perform Indian music We can’t do it.
4:34We need their special instruments. But we can still do a lot.
4:40Once we enter the world of Indian wisdom, those feelings will emerge in us
4:46So let’s start
4:51Let’s talk based on the right knowledge,
4:55not what we remember.
4:58knowledge itself.
Külli Nefs Brahmadır ve 4 niteliği vardır.
5:05Now the Universal Self (Külli Nefs)
5:08I am saying it as we would understand it
5:10If I said it in Sanskrit, nobody would be able to make sense of it
5:13So I am translating it
5:16We said that the Universal Self is called Brahma
5:19and the individual self is Atman
5:23Brahman is universal and comprehensive
5:30Brahma has four characteristics
5:35Christ in the Bible talks about four characteristics of God
5:44But when we turn to the Qur’an There are ninety-nince names of God
5:48This is much more detailed
5:50Detail is not something simple
5:52It is not about generalization
5:56Goethe has said
5:58that we can understand how refined a civilization is
6:02or how high or low it is
6:05based on how much detail
6:06its features include
6:09That is refinement
6:12Depending on how detailed we get, we mean refinement, attention to details.
6:18As a result grace emerges.
6:21It shows up in the human being as beauty
6:25If there is no refinement, then the beauty would be lacking.
6:28Refinement is related to the mind well In the form of fine and detailed analyses
6:33So what happens is you turn into a jeweler
6:37Examining minute details like a jeweler
6:42Looking under a magnifying glass If you make a small mistake
6:47the whole thing might collapse You must give all our attention
6:52and become very sensitive,
Dikkat’ten Rikkat’e, Rikkat’ten Zerafet’e, Zerafet’ten Melahet’e
6:55From attention there is a movement greater sensitivity and refinement
6:58And from refinement to beauty.
7:01We are talking about such an evolution here
7:03So Brahma, who has four characteristics,
7:07is above all relationships
7:11it is the unknown
7:14and above all relationships
7:19But we all are in relationships,
7:22in nature,
7:22in culture or in society
7:25we are all connected.
7:28Participating in relationships we can’t exist otherwise
7:33As humans we need water, air, fire
7:38Everything in nature is connected to another
7:40So this means Brahma is above all relationships
7:48This is the state of Zhat
7:52When we talk about Zhat, relationships are secret
7:55We can’t say they don’t exist
7:57Otherwise what is it that manifests?
7:59Those relationships
8:02what we say ‘Zhat’ or ‘Ahad’ can be likened to
Tohum
8:06a seed.
8:08When we look at a seed
8:11let’s look at a seed under a magnifier in a laboratory
8:15The seed doesn’t seem connected to anything external to it,
8:19Ahad
8:22So let’s say here is an apple seed
8:28Sinan: Yes, I have one I brought one with me and put it in my pocket
8:37Sinan: It is even a special seed of an Amasya apple
8:39Very good, let’s talk about it now
8:45This seed is ‘ahad’ like a dot
8:51How am I going to describe it?
8:57A seed, what does it mean?
9:00It doesn’t have a name How do we know what it is?
9:04SInan: this seed would mean nothing to the person who has not seen an apple or apple tree
9:08So would the seed manifest itself all of a sudden?
9:11No
9:13Muhyiddin Ihya Efendi used to say:
Muhittin İhya Efendi: “Evladım, tohumu sahibine ver.”
9:16my son, give the seed to its owner
9:20The owner can help manifest the secret in the seed
9:23I asked what does that mean?
9:27Who is the owner?
9:28Whoever can bring out the secret power in the embedded seed,
9:36that is the owner.
9:38Where would the seed manifest itself?
9:40In the soil
9:42That means the owner of this seed is the soil
9:44The soil is like the murshid.
9:47Just like how when the seed is planted in the soil,
9:52it grows and manifests itself
9:54and proves itself, realizes what it is meant to be,
10:00human beings are just like a seed.
10:03If they are planted in a murshid’s heart,
10:05then they grow and flourish,
10:07can reveal their own reality.
10:11Sinan: this is the description of how one can transform from a ‘besher’ to a ‘human being’.
10:14It is always the story of the seed
10:17Can: So the seed doesn’t lose itself, it reveals what is already in itself
Her insanın bir dominant karakteri var, buna “Esma-i Hass” denir.
10:22without external help. So when the apple seed is planted in someone’s heart,
10:26it is not going to emerge as a pear tree
10:29That’s why every human being
10:31has a dominant character
10:33We call it ‘esma-hass’
10:36that means dominant character.
10:39Biologically,
10:40there are recessive and dominant characters in the fetus
10:45As a fetus forms, it takes a dominant character,
10:48in other words ‘esma-i hass’,
10:50we can call this a tendency.
10:54Compared to everyone else a person has a particular tendency
10:58Look at children and you will see
11:02For example one child likes to draw, another
11:07tries to take apart things,
11:09another one breaks things
11:12If she or he is repeating something That’s what is important.
11:18If a child keeps repeating something, that means he or she has a tendency towards it
11:23That means his/her ‘esma’ (dominant characteristic) tends to go in that direction and the child should be educated in that area
11:27I read something the other day
11:29Can’t remember his name right now
11:32He said that he was asked for advice by some parents
11:36That their child wanted to study something else
11:40whereas we want him to become a musician and registered him in a music class
11:44Because we want him to go to the conservatory
11:47But he is not interested and leaves his class
11:48and instead goes and plays tennis!
11:52What is your advice?
11:54The guy is a musician.
11:56His response is: if I were in your position, I would send your son to a tennis academy
12:02So this child’s ‘esma- hass’ or dominant character leads him toward sports
12:07Music is of course a good thing,
12:10but it is not this child’s tendency,
12:13it is not his attribute, so his tendency is towards sports
12:17and you might send someone else to a sports course
12:19he might just stand in a corner and watch
12:22Or someone sees paintings and wants to become a painter.
12:24or someone else likes to imitate people and wants to act in theater
12:28They say imitation is a bad thing!
12:30No.
12:34The point is to bring out someone’s talent, someone’s tendency
12:40That’s what we mean by seed
12:43Seed is very important
Tohum Kelamdır.
12:47Seed is Word (Kelam)
12:49In Greek philosophy,
12:53it is called ‘Logos Spermata’
12:56or
12:57‘Spermaticos Logos’
13:00That means the Word that inseminates
13:05Spermaticos Logos
13:09So the “Logos’ is the first word in the Gospel of John. In the first sentence, says:
13:15"Word was at the very beginning"
13:22and in God God’s Word (KelamAllah)
13:31This is amazing!
13:33What kind of Word?
13:35Logos
13:36Fiery Word
13:38This is the Logos of Heraclitus
13:43Fire is the energy of nature.
13:46Without that energy, nothing can exist
13:49and its power is dependent on this energy.
13:57Spirituality is also based on energy.
13:59It is called ‘Kudretullah’.
14:01We call this energy in spirituality:
14:07Love (Aşk)
14:09Love is energy
14:10It is also physical
14:12It is passion, depending on how strong this love is.
14:17it can manifest as enthusiasm or passion towards some kind of work
14:26You might be so engrossed in it, so passionate about it
14:28that even when someone is drumming loudly next to you, you would not hear it.
14:30Or if someone invites you to a party, you don’t want to go.
14:33You say you are busy
14:36This is called devotion.
14:39Doing work with this kind of enthusiasm or passion, is called devotion
14:42Why is it devotion?
14:45You may be getting money out of it, or some kind of profit
14:48Sure, what is the ‘devotion’ side of it?
14:49It is related to someone’s spiritual state
14:52You appreciate yourself when you are doing something as best as you can
14:57You appreciate yourself
14:59This is called becoming good at something, becoming an expert.
15:02Then you start appreciating yourself
15:08You approve of yourself
15:11A person is a human being when he or she approves of herself.
15:16and accepts herself.
