0:03a battle with Frieza leaves dozens of
0:04cities destroyed. Bulma gathers the
0:06Dragon Balls like always and everyone
0:07[music] waits for Shenron to appear. But
0:09the moment Shenron rises from the sky,
0:10he doesn't ask for a wish. He looks
0:12directly at Goku and says, "I won't do
0:14it again." Then he disappears, [music]
0:15leaving all seven Dragon Balls cracked
0:16and gray. Dende tries restoring them,
0:18but nothing happens. Even Namek's Dragon
0:20Balls suddenly [music] turn to stone.
0:21Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Whis travel
0:23to New Namek only to find Porunga
0:24refusing wishes, too. Every dragon

0:33himself. He reminds Goku that nearly

0:37die, cities disappear, and a wish erases
0:39the consequences. Goku argues that the
0:41Dragon Balls save innocent people, but
0:42Shenron replies that they also allow
0:44villains [music] to keep returning
0:45because nobody fears permanent
0:46consequences anymore. While they argue,
0:48Frieza learns the Dragon Balls no longer
0:49work and launches his biggest invasion
0:51of Earth ever. This time, nobody can
0:52simply [music] wish the damage away.
0:54Goku and Vegeta are forced to protect
0:55every city instead of fighting
0:56recklessly. Piccolo stays behind to
0:58defend civilians. Gohan evacuates
0:59[music] families. Krillin and Android 18
1:01rescue people trapped under collapsing
1:03buildings. For the first time, every
1:04fighter battles knowing that if someone
1:05dies, [music] they stay dead. After
1:07hours of fighting, Frieza is finally
1:08defeated without a single wish being
1:10used. Shenron appears on his [music]
1:11own. The Dragon Balls begin glowing
1:12again. Goku smiles, thinking Shenron
1:14changed his mind. But Shenron shakes his
1:15head [music] and says, "No. Today, you
1:17proved you don't need me." Then the
1:18Dragon Balls scatter across Earth before
1:20anyone can make a single wish.
