0:00Goku refuses [music] to recognize
0:01Bardock. Ever since Bardock escaped the
0:02death gate, Earth has slowly accepted
0:04him. Gohan trains with him. Pan loves
0:06listening to his stories. Even [music]
0:07Vegeta begins respecting the Saiyan who
0:09challenged Frieza. But Goku keeps his
0:10distance. One day Bardock finally asks
0:12him why. Goku calmly answers that
0:14Bardock may be his father [music] by
0:15blood, but Grandpa Gohan is the man who
0:17raised him. He says he doesn't know
0:18Bardock, and pretending otherwise would
0:19be a lie. Bardock doesn't argue. [music]
0:21He quietly leaves Earth without saying
0:22goodbye. Weeks later, Whis suddenly
0:24arrives with terrible news. A group of
0:25surviving Frieza Force soldiers [music]
0:27has captured Bardock after discovering
0:28he is alive. They broadcast a message
0:30across the galaxy demanding Goku [music]
0:31surrender if he wants his father back.
0:32Vegeta immediately prepares for battle,
0:34but Goku shocks everyone by saying they
0:35shouldn't go. Gohan can't believe what
0:37he's hearing. Goku explains that [music]
0:38Frieza's army is making one mistake.
0:40They think Bardock is Goku's weakness.
0:42But Bardock is a Saiyan warrior [music]
0:43who would rather die than watch others
0:44be used as hostages because of him. If
0:46Goku surrenders, he insults everything
0:48Bardock stood for. [music] Meanwhile,
0:49aboard the enemy ship, the soldiers
0:50realize Bardock isn't begging for help.
0:52He's laughing. When they contact Earth
0:53again, Bardock interrupts the broadcast
0:55himself. Looking directly into the
0:56camera, he tells Goku, "If you come
0:58[music] here because you're pity me,
0:59you're no son of mine." Then Bardock
1:01breaks free of his restraints and
1:02attacks the entire ship alone. The
1:03soldiers panic as the transmission
1:04[music] fills with explosions. Goku
1:06smiles for the first time since Bardock
1:08arrived on Earth. Without transforming,
1:09he quietly says, "Now, that's [music]
1:10someone I'd like to meet." He and Vegeta
1:12finally launch toward space. Not to
1:14rescue a helpless father, but to fight
1:15beside the [music] Saiyan who had
1:16already chosen his own fate.
