0:00Hey everyone and welcome back to the

0:02Five Minute English podcast.

0:04It's Jessica here and today I'd love to

0:08tell you a little bit about my hometown

0:10in Australia. I was born and raised in a

0:13small coastal city called Newcastle

0:16about 2 hours north of Sydney. It's not

0:20as big or as busy as Sydney, but it's

0:22such a beautiful place to live.

0:25Newcastle is known for its amazing

0:28beaches, friendly people, and relaxed

0:31lifestyle. If you love the ocean, it's

0:34the perfect place.

0:36You can go swimming, surfing, or just

0:38take a walk along the coastline.

0:41My favorite beach is Bar Beach,

0:44especially early in the morning when the

0:46sun is rising. It's so peaceful and

0:48calm. A great way to start the day.

0:52One thing I really love about my

0:54hometown is the sense of community.

0:57People there are warm, open, and

1:00welcoming. It's the kind of place where

1:02you can stop for a quick chat with your

1:04neighbors or the local shop owners, and

1:07everyone seems to know each other.

1:10Growing up in Newcastle was wonderful. I

1:14spent a lot of time outdoors,

1:16riding my bike, going to the park, and

1:19having barbecues with my family.

1:21Australians really love being outside,

1:24especially when the weather is good. And

1:27in Newcastle, it's sunny almost all year

1:30round.

1:32Another thing I enjoy is the local cafe

1:34and market scene. On weekends, I like

1:38going to the farmers market to buy fresh

1:40fruit, vegetables, and homemade bread.

1:43It's also a great place to meet friends

1:45and enjoy a good cup of coffee while

1:47listening to local music.

1:50Even though I've traveled and lived in

1:52other places, Newcastle still feels like

1:55home to me. Every time I go back, I feel

1:58relaxed and happy, like I never left.

2:02If you ever visit Australia, I really

2:05recommend stopping by Newcastle. It

2:07might not be as famous as Sydney or

2:09Melbourne, but it has its own special

2:12charm. Beautiful nature, kind people,

2:15and a calm atmosphere.

2:18So, that's a little bit about my

2:20hometown. How about you? What's your

2:23hometown like? What do you love most

2:26about it?

2:27Thanks for listening, everyone. Don't

2:30forget to follow the Five Minute English

2:32podcast for more short and simple

2:34English listening practice. See you next

2:37time.
