0:01appears when summoned, but freezes
0:03mid-sentence while granting Krillin's
0:04wish to revive someone, his eyes
0:06flickering like a malfunctioning
0:07hologram. And then he speaks in a voice
0:09[music] that isn't his own. "I've been
0:10trying to warn you for decades, but the
0:11spell wouldn't let me." The dragon's
0:13body starts glitching between physical
0:14and transparent as he reveals he's not
0:16actually a magical dragon. He's a
0:17prisoner from another dimension forced
0:19to play this role by whoever created the
0:20Dragon Balls, and the real Shenron died
0:22centuries ago. Bulma's scanners go
0:23haywire detecting the Dragon Balls are
0:25transmitting data somewhere outside
0:26their universe every time a wish is
0:28made. Dende collapses screaming that
0:29Kami lied to him, that the Dragon Balls
0:31weren't created to help people. They
0:32were created to mark which dimensions
0:33have enough life energy worth
0:34harvesting. The fake Shenron begs them
0:36to destroy the balls before the next
0:37transmission [music] completes, because
0:39once his captors receive confirmation
0:40that Earth has reached peak energy
0:41density, they'll arrive to drain
0:42everything. Piccolo demands to know who
0:44these captors are, and Shenron says only
0:46two words, "The llama's masters." Vegeta
0:48tries destroying a Dragon Ball, but it
0:49regenerates [music] instantly, and
0:50Shenron explains they're indestructible
0:52by design. The only way to stop the
0:53transmission is to make a wish so
0:54impossible it crashes [music] the entire
0:56system. Goku asks what kind of wish
0:58could do that, and Shenron's eyes focus
0:59directly on him with desperate intensity
1:00[music] saying, "Wish for me to tell you
1:02the truth about what you really are."
1:03The Dragon Balls begin glowing brighter,
1:05cracks [music] forming in reality around
1:06them as something on the other end of
1:07the transmission notices the
1:08conversation. Gohan yells asking what
1:10Goku really is, and Shenron's voice
1:12breaks, "He's the last fragment of the
1:13being my captors have been searching
1:15for, and the moment you make that wish,
1:16they'll know exactly [music] where he
1:17The transmission cuts off and Shenron
1:19vanishes, but the Dragon Balls don't
1:20scatter. They start pulsing in unison
1:22like a beacon, and Whis's face goes
