0:00In the near future, the world ends
0:02without warning. Now, the few remaining
0:04humans have to work hard to survive in
0:05society's ruins. The lack of food soon
0:07turns certain people into cannibals. 10
0:10years after the apocalypse, Jake and his
0:12father, Paul, go hunting in the forest.
0:13When they finally find an animal, they
0:15crawl slowly to get closer, and Paul
0:17shoots an arrow. The pig is hit, yet it
0:19still runs away. Then, the men follow
0:21its trail of blood, but unfortunately,
0:23they can't find it. In a stream, they
0:24see a dead fish, but they can't grab it
0:26because it's contaminated. Paul and Jake
0:28continue their search for food until
0:29they find a shoe in the mud. Worried
0:31that there may be other people around.
0:33They check the path and discover an
0:34empty car. They search the vehicle for
0:36anything useful, and Jake drops some
0:37things when he opens the door, causing a
0:39loud noise. Paul grabs a cable and some
0:42cigarette butts while Jake finds a
0:43packet of cookies. He eats some before
0:45turning around to check on his dad,
0:47accidentally pressing the horn in the
0:48process. When wild dogs start barking in
0:50the distance, the guys hide inside the
0:52car and lock every door. Soon, the dogs
0:54walk past the vehicle, but luckily they
0:56don't see the men and leave. Once it's
0:58safe, the duo leaves and Jake finishes
1:00the cookies. They make it to a pile of
1:02branches, which actually is a cover for
1:03their hut. Jake immediately checks on
1:05Hannah, whose injury isn't healing well.
1:07Paul filters some water so Hannah can
1:09take her medicine, noticing they don't
1:11have much left. Then Paul makes a
1:13cigarette with the tobacco he gathers
1:14from the butts and smokes it outside.
1:16The next morning, Jake goes to relieve
1:18himself in a septic tank they keep
1:19hidden under branches, too. At that
1:21moment, he hears a noise, so he runs
1:23back into the hut. He looks out through
1:25a hole in the wall and is shocked to see
1:26hunters coming, so he falls back in
1:28fear. The noise wakes up Paul, who also
1:30sees the people outside and immediately
1:32starts packing. Then he kicks the back
1:34door so the three of them can escape
1:35into the woods. While the strangers
1:37surround the hut, Paul and Jake have to
1:39keep Hannah from collapsing. So Jake
1:41accidentally drops their bag. Paul hides
1:43Hannah and Jake in the septic tank
1:44before confronting the hunters, knocking
1:46down a few of them. Unfortunately, their
1:48numbers overpower him and quickly kill
1:49him. In the tank, Jake and Hannah cry as
1:52they watch the hunter steal the bag with
1:53the medicine and tie Paul's body to take
1:55him away. The leader, Luke, sees the
1:57pile branches around a hole and gets
1:58suspicious, so he tries to open it.
2:00However, Jake holds the lid down to stop
2:02him. Luke then looks inside the hole and
2:04the darkness protects the duo. The awful
2:07smell tells Luke this is a toilet, so he
2:08leaves. Afterward, Jake takes Hannah
2:10back to the hut where the hunters have
2:12destroyed many of their things. Hannah's
2:14wound keeps getting worse, and there's
2:15no medicine to give her, so she's
2:17suffering. A desperate Jake grabs a
2:19pillow and tries to press it on Hannah's
2:20face to put her out of her misery, but
2:22he can't bring himself to do it.
2:23Determined to help her, Jake decides
2:25he'll get the medicine back. Before
2:27leaving, he covers the hut with branches
2:29again, ties bags around his feet, and
2:31chooses a picture of his father to carry
2:32in his pocket. Outside, Jake sees his
2:35father's blood, and starts following it.
2:37As hours pass, he gets colder and colder
2:39because he's still wearing his flimsy
2:40sleeping clothes, and he ends up
2:42collapsing. At the same time, Hannah
2:44wakes up and discovers she's alone. She
2:46tries to leave, but Jake has blocked the
2:48door and it won't budge no matter how
2:49much she pounds on it. Minutes later,
2:51Jake sees a child running nearby, so he
2:53starts following him. When Joe sees him
2:55back, he gets scared and runs to hide in
2:57an abandoned building. Jake continues to
2:59follow him and finds him in a locked
3:00room with an old man. He kicks the door
3:02to get inside and puts on the pants he
3:04finds on a chair. Then, he pushes Joe
3:06off to steal the old man's jacket. After
3:08also taking a pair of shoes, Jake
3:10leaves. In the forest, he finds the
3:12blood trail again and follows it until
3:14he discovers the fresh ashes of a
3:15bonfire. Among these ashes, Jake is
3:17horrified to see Paul's bones, which
3:19causes him to throw up. Before
3:21continuing on his journey, Jake buries
3:22the bones. Afterward, Jake climbs a tree
3:25and sees smoke in the distance. When he
3:27tries to come down, he slips and crashes
3:29on the ground. His scream of pain gets
3:31the attention of the wild dogs, who
3:32start howling and barking. Jake tries to
3:34run away, but his body hurts too much,
3:36so he instead searches the ashes for a
3:38branch that is still lit. Meanwhile, the
3:40hunters are stitching the wound Paul
3:41left on Tom. When they hear the dogs in
3:43the distance, they realize they must
3:45have found something. Moments later,
3:47Jake manages to restart the fire. As the
3:49wild dogs surround him, Jake grabs a
3:51burning branch and waves it to keep the
3:53beasts at bay. A dog almost gets close
3:55enough to attack, so Jake quickly burns
3:57it with the stick. The dogs try to
3:58approach him a few times, but keep
4:00failing, so eventually they leave. The
4:02next morning, Jay keeps traveling and is
4:04surprised to find a tent. He throws a
4:06rock at it just in case, but nobody
4:08comes out. Then he checks inside and
4:09sees a body inside a sleeping bag. The
4:12man's water bottle is empty. However,
4:14there also are matches, a small knife,
4:16and a whistle, so Jake keeps them all.
4:18At that moment, Joe shows up and tries
4:20to approach the tent. But when he sees
4:21Jake, he runs away. Afterward, Jake
4:23continues to travel and notices blood in
4:25the stream. He follows it until he finds
4:27Emma washing some stuff and gathering
4:29water. After grabbing a big rock, he
4:31starts following her at a safe distance
4:32and watches her arrive at the hunter's
4:34camp. Emma pours the water into a kettle
4:36to boil it and walks out of view. When
4:38Jake tries to follow her again, he stops
4:40moving just in time to avoid a
4:41transparent wire with a bell. He
4:43carefully steps over it and rushes into
4:45a broken van to find his bag.
4:46Unfortunately, it's empty. As he
4:48searches other bags and drawers, Jake
4:50notices Hannah approaching him from
4:51behind thanks to a mirror. He dodges her
4:54attack and a fight ensues. Hannah throws
4:56him down and tries to hit him with an
4:57ax, but Jake manages to retrieve his
4:59rock and hits her in the head, instantly
5:01killing her. Then Jake enters the
5:02hunter's RV and searches every corner,
5:04but he still can't find the medicine. At
5:06that moment, he sees the hunters coming
5:08back. So, Jake rushes to clean off the
5:10blood before grabbing his bag, Emma's
5:12body, and the kettle. As he drags the
5:14body on the ground, the axe falls off.
5:16He manages to hide behind a tree before
5:18the hunters enter the camp. Jake is
5:19horrified to see that they've captured
5:21Joe. Luke notices the mess that Jake
5:23left behind before he gives the medicine
5:24to Tom. After he takes his dose, the
5:27medicine is put away in a chest. Then,
5:29Luke enters the forest to search for
5:30Emma, so Jake makes sure to stay hidden.
5:33In the hut, Hannah tries to take care of
5:34her own wound. However, the rotting has
5:36gotten so bad that she can barely move.
5:38She starts having a very high fever and
5:40her whole body trembles as she reaches
5:42for the water bottle, finishing it in
5:43seconds. At the camp, a hunter
5:45approaches the tree to relieve himself,
5:47but luckily he doesn't see Jake. On his
5:49way back, he finds Emma's ax. The group
5:52gets suspicious, so they decide to go
5:53looking for Luke while Tom stays to
5:55rest. Jake quickly covers Emma's body
5:57with dirt and leaves before he begins
5:58crawling to approach the camp, making
6:00sure to avoid the trap wires. As he gets
6:02closer, he finds the area where the
6:04hunters throw their victim skeletons.
6:06This gives him a view of Tom, who
6:08notices that his injury is getting worse
6:09and decides to enter the RV to nap. Jake
6:12takes the chance to run to Joe, who
6:13screams because he thinks he's about to
6:15get killed. In the RV, Tom covers his
6:17ears with his pillow because he thinks
6:18the boy is just protesting. Using the
6:20small knife, Jake cuts the ropes and Joe
6:23immediately runs away. When Tom gets
6:25tired of the screaming and comes out, he
6:27sees the boy escaping and chases after
6:28him. Afterward, Jake tries to open the
6:30chest, but it's locked. He kicks it a
6:32few times to no avail. At that moment,
6:34the group returns, so Jake hides under
6:36the RV. The hunters realize Joe is gone
6:39right before Tom also comes back and
6:40tells them what happened. A furious Luke
6:42hits him to punish him and checks the
6:44chest, noticing that something has
6:45damaged the lock. Luke is distracted
6:47when another hunter whistles to alert
6:49his friends that he's found Emma's body.
6:50That night, the hunters prepare a
6:52funeral, and Jake notices that Luke has
6:54the chest key hanging around his neck.
6:55Emma's body is set on fire and Luke
6:57stares at it for a while as he plans his
6:59revenge. The next morning, Jake
7:01remembers that he has matches. He
7:03carefully sneaks into the RV and lights
7:04a match for Light. When he finds Luke,
7:06he uses the knife to cut his necklace
7:08and get the key. Then, he rushes outside
7:10and accidentally drops the key, but he
7:12manages to retrieve it and finally opens
7:14the chest. Jake grabs the medicine and
7:16puts the chest's padlock on the RV's
7:17door to lock everyone inside. After also
7:20grabbing his bag, Jake runs away and
7:21accidentally steps on the wire. The
7:23sound of the bell wakes up the hunters
7:25who pound on the door until they break
7:26it open and rush to the forest to chase
7:28after Jake. Tom can barely move because
7:30of his injury and collapses. So Luke
7:32steps on his neck to kill him because he
7:33blames him for everything. In the hut,
7:35Hannah is woken up by a strange sound.
7:37When she looks outside, she's terrified
7:39to see the wild dogs surrounding her
7:41home. The beasts growl and bark as they
7:43move the branches, and a dog even
7:44manages to get its head through the hole
7:46in the wall. In the forest, Jake runs on
7:48the stream as fast as possible until he
7:50finds the way blocked. He chooses a
7:52different path that takes him closer to
7:53the hunters. A man tries to tackle him,
7:55but Jake pushes him off and keeps
7:57running. After several miles, Jake
7:59slides down a hill and the hunters start
8:01shooting arrows at him. Thankfully, they
8:02miss and he keeps moving. Moments later,
8:04Jake finds the abandoned building and
8:06notices paw prints on the floor. He
8:08follows them until he finds the old
8:09man's body, his organs, and several
8:11chunks of flesh missing because the dogs
8:13fed on him. A crestfallen Jake leaves
8:15the building and doesn't see the hunters
8:16who hit him from behind and knock him
8:18out. When Jake wakes up, he's tied up on
8:20the ground and he's missing some of his
8:22clothes. The hunters are starting a
8:23fire, clearly getting ready to eat him.
8:25Jake notices that all his things have
8:27fallen from his bag, so he tries to grab
8:29the knife with his mouth, but Luke kicks
8:30it away and burns Paul's picture in
8:32front of Jake's face. After a moment of
8:34grief, Jake notices that the whistle is
8:36also nearby. He manages to pick it up
8:38with his mouth and blows it loudly, so
8:40Luke kicks him to stop him. In the
8:41distance, they hear the dogs barking, so
8:43the hunters run away without Jake. While
8:45the dogs leave the hut to follow the
8:47whistle. Jake grabs the knife and cuts
8:48the ropes to free himself. Then he hides
8:50behind a trunk. So when the dogs run by,
8:52they don't see him. In the forest, a
8:54hunter trips and hurts her leg, but her
8:56friends don't help her, so she has to
8:57run limping. Luke hears the dogs coming
9:00closer, so he slashes the limping woman
9:02with his knife to leave her as bait. The
9:03dogs soon surround her and devour her
9:05while Luke watches without remorse.
9:07Meanwhile, Jake puts his clothes back on
9:09and takes the medicine before running
9:10away. The fatigue soon catches up to
9:12him, causing him to fall. He has no
9:15choice but to hide behind a tree to
9:16rest. When Luke and the last two hunters
9:18return to the bonfire, they see the
9:20tracks Jake left and begin following
9:21them. A hunter soon sees a human shape
9:23behind the tree and carefully comes
9:25closer to kick it. However, it's only a
9:27jacket. Jake jumps down from the tree to
9:29attack the man and a fierce battle
9:30begins. They exchange several hits
9:32before the hunter grabs Jake in a
9:33chokeold. Minutes later, the other
9:35hunter sees his friend dragging Jake's
9:37body. When he approaches them, it's
9:39revealed that Jake won the fight and he
9:40exchanged their clothes. Once the other
9:42hunter is close enough, Jake stabs him
9:44with a dead guy's knife, killing him,
9:46too. After taking the man's bow, Jake
9:48goes looking for Luke and shoots him in
9:50the leg. Then he gets ready to shoot him
9:52in the head. However, the bow breaks.
9:54Both men pull out their knives, but
9:55before they can fight, they see the dogs
9:57coming, so they start running. Jake
9:59manages to escape, but Luke can't run
10:01fast because of his injured leg. All the
10:03chaos causes Jake to get lost. While
10:05searching for the path, he finds an
10:06empty bullet casing on the ground, which
10:08means someone is close. He climbs the
10:10hill and is surprised to see a house.
10:12Jake immediately goes to the porch and
10:14finds a skeleton with a gun in its hand.
10:16The alcohol on the table indicates that
10:17the owner selfdeleted. After grabbing
10:19the gun, Jake enters the house and finds
10:21a bigger weapon and bullets. The sink
10:23has clean water, so he drinks some
10:25before filling a bottle. The kitchen is
10:27full of canned food and Jake puts as
10:28much as he can in his bag. Suddenly, he
10:30hears a noise and is shocked to see Luke
10:32entering the house. Jake tries to shoot
10:34him, but the gun has no ammo, so Luke
10:36attacks him with his knife. They disarm
10:38each other and a new fight begins. They
10:40exchange a few punches and kicks before
10:41Luke knocks Jake down and starts choking
10:43him. Jake inserts his finger in the leg
10:45wound to push Luke off. Then he grabs
10:47the other gun and finally shoots him in
10:48the head. Moments later, Jake leaves
10:51some food outside the abandoned building
10:52in case Joe comes back. Then he returns
10:54to the hut only to find it open and
10:56empty. Jake has a breakdown because he
10:58thinks the dogs ate Hannah, but she
