0:00Who's the craziest person that you never
0:01expect to hit you up?
0:02>> Mia was definitely a crazy one.
0:04>> Mia Khalifa hit you up.
0:06>> Oh, I think we're going to be doing a a
0:07collab. You know,
0:08>> what kind of collab? [laughter]
Sean Sharaf Joins Double Coverage
0:11>> I'm Sean Shut off coming off the biggest
0:13upset in MMA history and you're watching
0:15Double Coverage.
0:16>> Double Coverage is presented by
0:18DraftKings. The crown is yours.
0:19>> What's up, guys? Miss Sixack here.
0:21Welcome back to season 2 of Double
0:22Coverage. Today I'm honored to be joined
0:24by UFC heavyweight fresh off a massive
0:27in a Joe Rogan podcast appearance Sean
0:30Shar. What's going on, man?
0:32>> Life's been crazy. Life's been crazy.
0:34>> I don't know what's bigger than or what
Manifesting the Joe Rogan Experience
0:36this podcast is going to be like.
0:37>> I know. It's just been a back to back to
0:39back keeps getting better, you know? So,
0:40I'm just I'm just riding the wave right
0:42now.
0:42>> How was that filming with Joe? I feel
0:44like that's like the ultimate
0:45destination when you join the UFC.
0:46>> Yeah. Yeah. That was like, it's crazy
0:48cuz I have a video from 2019 with David
0:50Gogggins where I'm like telling him I'm
0:52like, "Hey, you going to see me see in
0:53the UFC? You're going to see me on the
0:54Joe Rogan podcast." So, uh, getting on
0:56there, making it happen, manifesting
0:58that was just so surreal.
0:59>> That's insane. 2019, you're telling
1:01David Gogggins, I'm going to be in the
1:02UFC. I'm going to be on the Joe Rogan
1:04podcast. How long were you training MMA
1:05at that point?
1:06>> Uh, so I wrestled in high school and
1:08then I joined the Marine Corps after
1:10high school and, uh, I did like some
1:12martial arts training. I started boxing
1:14when I was in Africa a little bit. I
1:15picked up a boxing trainer while I was
1:16out there. Yeah. Was just kind of
1:17hitting the bag. I had my own little
1:19setup wherever I went and then uh when I
1:21got out in 2018, that's when I fully
1:23committed to start.
1:24>> So, you're like a year into fully
1:25committing. You were telling Dave and
1:26then it all comes to fruition seven
1:28years later.
1:29>> Yeah. Unreal.
1:30>> Wow.
1:31>> Yeah. Yeah. Hasn't been much sleep. So,
1:33uh still still processing it all for
1:35sure.
1:35>> Are you still getting your training in?
1:36Are you talking to the UFC about
1:37upcoming fights?
1:38>> Yeah. So today, uh, I had my first
1:40training session back here at the
1:41Performance Institute and, um, haven't
1:43had the meeting with the UFC yet. I
1:45think that's coming tomorrow. But um,
1:46yeah, we're going to see what's next.
1:48But I think there's going to be some
1:49negotiations for sure.
1:50>> No, for sure. But the nice thing is you
1:52didn't take much damage.
1:53>> Yeah. Yeah,
1:54>> you came out pretty clean.
1:55>> Yeah, that was the thing. Everyone's
1:56like, "Jump right into it. Jump right
1:57into it." But I'm just like, I I just
1:58got to take a second to kind of assess
2:00everything, figure my life out a little
2:02bit because it's been pretty chaotic
2:03just to get to this point.
2:05>> Smart. And know you're in a ever moving
2:07division. We got Hul getting gone now
2:09fighting for the title. What do you
2:10think about that MSG?
2:11>> Yeah, they asked me about it, man. I
2:13don't know, man. I guess clout clout
2:14will get you a title shot, but you know,
2:16he skipped Vulkov and a few other guys,
2:18so he's doing his thing, but I'm not a
2:20big fan.
2:21>> That's the sport, right? Are you going
2:22to Are you going to go to that?
2:23>> Uh, I think they actually offered me to
2:25go to be one of the guest fighters
2:27there. So, yeah, maybe I'll pop in,
2:28>> shake some hands, kiss some babies.
2:29>> Yeah, I guess we're doing Yeah, we're
2:31doing the the media tour right now. The
2:32victory lap. So,
2:33>> the victory lap. It's got to happen,
2:34bro. Yeah. Now that you're on Joe, maybe
2:36you can skip the line a little bit
2:37later, you know.
2:38>> Yeah. That's why I was like, "Hey, just
2:40put me on the coliseum for a title, you
2:42know. Let's go.
2:42>> Let's [laughter] go."
2:44>> Okay, baby. Skip the line. Yeah. So,
2:46you're out here in Vegas, but you're a
2:48California product. You you go back and
2:50forth.
2:51>> Yeah. Yeah. So, I'm from Santa Ana
2:52originally. Uh I had moved out here
2:54about 2 years ago strictly to get
2:56signed. You know, when I moved out to
2:57Vegas, it was just me and my dog. I came
2:58out here just to get in the mix. I knew
3:00Strickland from when I uh I was an
3:02amateur. We started sparring and I knew
3:03his extreme. So, I kind of jumped in the
3:05mix with them. Started sparring with
3:06Francis Enanu, Roy Nelson, some of these
3:08all these big guys. Got another fight
3:10booked while I was here. Him out and
3:12then they ended up calling me for the uh
3:14well, I thought they were calling for
3:15contender series, but they called me for
3:16a short notice fight once um Chris
Sharaf’s UFC Journey & Fighting With Everything to Lose
3:18Barnett and Junior Toffa fell through.
3:20So, took the fight, 3 days notice,
3:21didn't go my way, almost had them,
3:23gassed out, and um they signed me to a
3:25contract and and that was it.
3:27>> Did you feel like your back was up
3:28against the wall going into this fight?
3:30>> Oh, yeah. I was on the chopping block.
3:32You know, they said that there was talks
3:33where like, hey, even if he loses this
3:35fight, we won't cut him. But just me per
3:37I just couldn't handle another loss,
3:38man. I just felt like I had absolutely
3:40nothing to lose, you know? I just went
3:42in there like completely like, you know,
3:44like I'm just ready to for this. I'm
3:46ready for this. And then and that's why
3:47that that outcome came.
3:49>> Wow. With your whole family there,
3:50right? I mean,
3:51>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Now, now my my mom and
3:53and my my sister was there, my little
3:56brother. Uh he didn't get to get inside,
3:57but he came out after. But um yeah, I
3:59don't have a father. My dad my stepdad.
4:01So yeah, it's basically just my mom.
4:03>> But you're in California. Yeah.
4:05>> Does that add any extra pressure? Like
4:06because I spoke to Vander Holyfield.
4:08He's from Atlanta and he said like the
4:10one time he was like the most nervous in
4:12the locker room was when you fought in
4:13Atlanta.
4:14>> Well, for me it was like it was a
4:15mixture of things cuz that my my last
4:18two fights were in the Apex. I hadn't
4:19been in an arena like that before. Like
4:22I hadn't felt like that. I I just had
4:24felt like I had complete tunnel vision.
4:25Like I didn't when I walked out like I
4:27didn't feel like oh my god look at all
4:29these people. like it just felt like I
4:30was just going to fate, you know, and um
4:32just the fact that even like Jon Jones
4:34was there cuz I got pictures with Jon
4:35Jones in 2019 as well, you know, and I
4:37was like even calling it, you go in my
4:39captions before the fight, I was like,
4:40"Hey, this is going to be my exam, you
4:41know, he's going to be front front row
4:43center to watch me, you know, knock this
4:45guy out, you know, and um yeah, I didn't
4:47feel any of that pressure at all. It was
4:48just felt like this is this is my fight.
4:50This is where you get that confidence
4:51from."
4:52>> I think it's just over all the things
4:53I've overcome, you know, the court plays
4:55a huge part in that, you know. Um but I
4:56I also did a lot of study of the
4:58subconscious mind with um Dr. Joe Joe
5:01Despensza and uh Dr. Joe Murray like um
5:03that was something I went deep into
5:05during where I started like really
5:06understanding the power of the mind and
5:08how we can like put the belief and and
5:10cancel out all the doubt and negative
5:11thoughts and um that's that's really
5:13where I think it comes from. I just
5:14truly believed I was going to win this
5:16fight. I didn't know it was going to
5:17come in 10 seconds but there there
5:18wasn't a doubt in my mind that I was
5:20going to come out victorious. This was
5:21my fight and I knew it. It sounds like
5:23all your training and preparation also
5:25gives that. I mean, if you're sparring
Sparring Francis Ngannou & Sean Strickland
5:26with Francis Inanu, you got to feel
5:28pretty good heading into any fight.
5:29>> Yeah, that's the thing. It's like I've
5:30sparred like you named like Luke Rock,
5:32Mike Bisby, Sean Strickland, Francis
5:34Enanu, Hafel Los Sanios, you know, like
5:35Tito Ortiz, like all through my career,
5:37I've like sparred the biggest scariest
5:39dudes, OSP, you know, like um like you
5:41name them, I've I've sparred them. And
5:43um that that's always given me
5:44confidence because like whenever I walk
5:46out, I'm like nobody's scarier than
5:47Francis and Connor, you know, like I'm
5:50not scared of nobody. I got a little
5:51scared when you said I got I'm sitting
5:53in this seat.
5:54>> That confidence, it comes a lot from
5:55from who I've sparred and the experience
5:57I put in. But that was the thing I was
5:58talking about with this fight, you know,
5:59like like everyone was giving him all
6:01the accolades. He's this wrestler. He's
6:03this Olympic champion, but like you
6:04haven't been through the fire, like you
6:06haven't been through those grueling
6:07years of sparring and like getting going
6:10home with both guys, broken noses, you
6:12know, like um that that experience plays
6:14a factor when you when you're out there
6:16fighting, you know, and that's that's
6:18what happens.
6:18>> No, 100%. And then you know the
6:20accomplishments of course are there in
6:21wrestling which helps but it's MMA you
6:23know you're mixing the martial arts a
6:25totally different game and who knows
6:26what happens when you get in the face.
6:27We found out
6:28>> you hit him pretty hard but
6:30>> everyone's got a plan so they get
6:31punched in the face as they say.
6:33>> Do you see him being able to bounce back
Can Gable Steveson Bounce Back After the KO?
6:35after that?
6:35>> It's going to be difficult. I'm not
6:36going to lie. You know just cuz the fact
6:38like he took on that heel route, you
6:40know, he's going like talking [ __ ] to
6:41the fans like oh you guys should be
6:43grateful to be here and you're spending
6:45your money and like and then the fact he
6:46walked out afterwards like Yeah. Like
6:48I'm not saying he can't win win a fight,
6:50but I think he's definitely going to
6:51make some changes. He's probably going
6:52to be shooting for a takedown real
6:54quick.
6:54>> Yeah. I don't think he's going to try to
6:55stay in [laughter] the next fight.
6:59>> That that might be out. He's not quite
7:02Jon Jones, you know.
7:03>> Yeah. And that's what they were saying,
7:04you know, like he's trying to fight like
7:05Jon Jones, but you should be fighting
7:06like your DC, you know?
7:07>> Yeah. No, that's exact. That's what it
7:08looked like to me. He had like the
7:10outstretched arms. like
7:12>> that works for one guy and he's got like
7:1490 in arms literally you know and
7:17there's only one Jon Jones so I think
7:19you see that in boxing a lot when Roy
7:20Jones junior trains guys and they try to
7:22fight like Roy and they put their hands
7:23down and they get knocked out it's like
7:25they're special guys man
7:26>> 100%
7:27>> you can't you can't emulate Jon Jones
7:28you got to be gable you know
7:29>> that's it yeah um I think he's
7:31definitely going to take some time to
7:32reassess you know some things
7:34>> if if he hit you up was like yo you down
7:36to get some training in would you hit
7:38his would you go to a camp yeah
7:39>> he's not going to do No, I'm not
7:41interested in going to his camp, but he
7:42doesn't have the the humility to do
7:44that. The way like he wouldn't even
7:46address me. He he wrote like a whole
7:47essay. He's like, "My opponent caught
7:49me." Wow.
7:49>> Like, bro, okay.
7:50>> Nothing yet. No. Like, congrats, you got
7:52me. I shouldn't have walked out.
7:54Nothing.
7:54>> No.
7:55>> Wow.
7:56>> Everyone say he rage quit.
7:57>> Yeah, he rage quit. Yeah, [laughter] he
8:00left the lobby.
8:02>> It reminds me a lot of like some of the
8:04stuff Sean Strickland has done, your
8:06guy.
8:06>> Yeah. Yeah.
8:06>> When his back's against the wall, when
8:08he beat Adisagna, everyone talked about
8:10everything Adisagnania had done.
8:11Strickland has no shot and he went in
8:13there and just kind of kicked his ass.
8:14>> He did with Hamza, too.
8:15>> Yeah, with Hamza, too. Exactly, bro.
8:17Twice. Like, does that inspire you as
8:19well when you're going to that fight?
8:20>> Yeah. Yeah. No, I mean Strickland, I've
8:22known him for for a minute. Like, he's a
8:23good friend. Like, he called me right
8:24after the fight and like um Yeah, that
8:26dude's an inspiration. Everybody talks
8:28crap on him cuz he says some wild, you
8:30know, but deep down like he's a he's a
8:31straightup fighter and he knows what
8:32he's doing. And um I think watching that
8:34as well as the Gachi upset like watching
8:36that contender series upset like I was
8:38like this is the year of the upset you
8:40know like bro this is the year
8:41>> this is the year of the up definitely
8:43took some inspiration from from all
8:45those guys.
8:45>> Yeah. No Sean I mean and then you spoke
8:47about the core your father passed away.
8:49Sean obviously has his background the
8:51way he's built himself up. I mean he's
8:53literally been doubted every step of the
8:55way and he's one of the greatest
8:56middleweights of all time.
8:57>> 100%.
8:58>> Like he's right under Anderson Silva at
9:00this point when you beat Hamza and Izzy
9:01and all the other guys. I mean, what
9:03else can he do?
9:04>> Yeah, 100%. And he's smart. That dude's
9:06very financially smart. You know,
9:07everyone thinks he's an idiot, but he's
9:08a smart guy.
9:09>> No, it's a bit of a He He embraces it.
9:11He He plays it up a little bit. At least
9:13the At least the idiot part.
9:14>> Sometimes that's the best position to
9:16play the He play the fool. You let
9:17people think
9:18>> And he's a middleweight. You're a
9:19heavyweight. Is he going at you the same
9:20way we see in the training videos? Is he
9:22that same guy behind the scenes?
9:24>> Oh, yeah, bro. I got clips of him me up
9:26as an amateur. Like, this dude is like
9:28he's I don't know. He's a little
9:30[ __ ] dog. like he used to beat me
9:32up as an amateur, man. And um it's
9:34gotten better once once I came out to uh
9:36to Vegas. We didn't spar as much cuz uh
9:38I'm a bigger guy and he's like, I don't
9:40want to [ __ ] you, [laughter] you know.
9:42He he definitely he goes at everybody
9:44the same, you know. You know,
9:45>> Yeah. He's got one gear.
9:46>> Yeah. One one speed and that's so I
9:49smart Justin Gate twice.
9:51>> Yeah.
9:51>> We did the stream. We did the pot. I
9:53give him credit. He he wasn't nothing
9:54like that. He like I mean he hit me
9:56blasted me to liver but he wasn't like
9:58trying to get here you know.
9:59>> Yeah.
9:59>> Gachi even though he's a maniac like in
10:01the cage he's like able to you know turn
10:03it up. Yeah.
10:05>> No that was cool. Gachi at the White
10:06House. I mean that's got to be up there
10:08with yours. The two greatest American
10:10upsets this year.
10:11>> It's unreal man. Yeah. Gachi was so
10:13inspiring. You know watching him make
10:15that walk out reading the of
10:17Independence before and then like he
10:19almost got stopped you know he pushed
10:20through that and then he [ __ ] made him
10:22quit on the stool. Like, damn, that was
10:24that was unreal to watch. You know,
10:25>> he's real life Rocky
10:26>> for real.
10:27>> And I think Ilia and Gable are so
10:29similar in like their attitudes and the
10:31humility you spoke about and like Ilia
10:34is still not giving him credit. Now he's
10:35saying his gloves were loaded. Did you
10:37see that?
10:37>> Yeah, I did. Yeah. No, come on, man.
10:40Like [laughter]
10:41whatever you got to do to sleep at
10:43night. But yeah. No, he beat he beat him
10:45fair and square, you know.
10:46>> No, it's hard to see guys like that
10:47coming back though if you can't admit,
10:49you know what I mean? Where you went
10:50wrong and and how you got to move
10:51forward. I mean, you've suffered it
10:53before. You got to go back to the
10:54drawing board and figure it out, right?
10:55>> Yeah. And is that that's the boogeyman
10:57effect? That's what we were talking
10:58about is like they seem like these
11:00terrifying, unstoppable people until you
11:02you make them them or make them fall and
11:05then you're like, "Oh, no. You're just a
11:06man and this is fighting." You know, I
11:08said in my pre-fight interviews, I'm
11:10like, "This is fighting. We're going to
11:11fight." You know, like this is not a
11:12wrestling match. And yeah, that's what
11:14happens.
11:15>> You think the guys who fought Gable
11:16before were just defeated before they
11:17even got in there?
11:18>> The guys he fought were just on a
11:19regional scene. Like he went down to
11:21Mexico. He almost got wheel kicked. He
11:23Those other guys were like 0 and one,
11:25one and0. He had like a dirty boxing
Sharaf Knew He Would Eventually Fight Gable
11:27like I had been watching him the whole
11:28time. I knew I was going to fight him.
11:29It was just a matter of time. Yeah.
11:30>> You knew you were going to fight him?
11:31>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. Like
11:33it was like I watched him when he was
11:35coming up and did his pro debut. I was
11:36like this guy's coming to the UFC and
11:38like especially where where my record
11:39was. I got signed at 4 and0, you know,
11:41and he was like so I just figured, you
11:42know, that's the kind of the way
11:44matchmaking is going to go. And I had
11:45mentioned it before they they had
11:46reached out to me for the house card as
11:48well and asked me if I'd be interested
11:49in fighting Gable. But I guess that
11:51didn't go through. I don't know if they
11:52were trying to get Jones on there, but
11:53it just
11:54>> So you you went to them. You said, "I
11:55want Gable."
11:56>> Well, I asked for the White House card
11:58and then [ __ ] they were like, "Yeah,
12:00we might have that for Gable." And then
12:02same thing with LA. There was I was the
12:04one asking for LA. And then they were
12:06like, "Yeah, we got Gable for Everyone I
12:08talked to before the fight like [snorts]
12:09you're fighting Gable?" Like, "Oh, like
12:11everyone's just like so like I don't
12:12know. They let it get to the the aura
12:14get to their head, you know?" But it's
12:15just like, "Bro, it's just this is
12:17fighting, you know? like it's not it's
12:18not the the wrestling or it's not the
12:21Muay Thai or it's like I think the
12:22mental edge as well you know like I
12:24don't think mentally he was taking me
12:26seriously you know like he was doing RAF
12:27matches before he was doing a bunch of
12:30media stuff like rolling around with Jon
12:32Jones and the whip like bro I was
12:34sitting there in my hotel room
12:36meditating and visualizing and just like
12:38focusing every fiber of my being on
12:40beating this man and that's why the
12:42result came.
12:43>> Wow. What kind of training days do you
12:44have leading up to a fight like that?
12:46take us into the day
12:47>> like fight fight fight week or like
12:48before
12:49>> not say beforehand
12:50>> it was just grueling brother so I had
12:51pulled out of the tie to evasive fight
12:53and cuz I had to
12:55>> so this whole camp I couldn't risk it
12:57again so I had to wear that headgear and
12:59if you've ever worn that headgear it's
13:01like you're like like one your
13:03peripherals are closed like you can't
13:04really vision and then like you can't
13:07like it's literally like you're
13:09constantly like moving it so not only
13:10was I getting put in the worst positions
13:12like we was start on bottom starting
13:14from the cage like just in worst
13:16positions possible. Oh, he took your
13:17back. Oh, you like they just put me in
13:19worst case scenario and I would have to
13:21figure a way out. Figure a way out. And
13:22that's kind of what the training was cuz
13:24the game plan was like stay in his face
13:26and like if he takes you down, you get
13:27up. Like I'm I wasn't going to sit here
13:28and act like, "Oh, he's never get a
13:30takedown." Sure, you get a takedown, but
13:31I'm going to get up and and you take me
13:33down again, I'm going to get up again
13:34and I'm going be in your face over and
13:35over again and eventually he's going to
13:37break. Yeah. So when it happened in 10
13:38seconds, I was like, "Okay, well this is
13:40this is a better outcome than a three
13:42round war for sure." You know,
13:43>> for sure. similar to Shawn and Kamza.
13:45>> Yeah, that one was crazy because like
13:47you could see the moment where it was
13:48crazy because I met Hamza. He was in the
13:50back with Arman. It was like Arman had
13:53Neon and Hamza back there and I was in
13:54the back and I got a like I didn't want
13:56I didn't want to ask Arman he was
13:57fighting but I said Hamza like kind of
13:58stoic real quick. So before I walked
14:01out, you know, he kind of took the
14:02picture, gave me the blessings, you
14:03know, cuz he saw I had my my scarf from
14:06representing for Philistine and he was
14:07just like inshallah you get this
14:09victory, you know, and I was like [ __ ]
14:11come Hamza watching. Come on. And uh
14:13yeah, with that Strickland fight um it
14:15was just crazy to see because like same
14:17that boogeyman effect, you know, like
14:18everyone just knows Hamza was just like
14:21was running through dudes, you know, but
14:22like Strickland could wrestle, man. Like
14:24he he says jiu-jitsu's but like this
14:26dude is like a undercover black belt for
N3on, Arman Tsarukyan & Entering the Streaming World
14:28sure, you know? You see him grappling
14:30with the best of the best and he and he
14:31knows what he's doing, you know? He
14:32knows fighting.
14:33>> Yeah. Well, Neon was in Arman's corner.
14:35Armen said he called for the elbow.
14:36Would you consider adding Neon to the
14:38corner? Well, I mean, I've been talking
14:39with I've been talking with Neon. So, he
14:40he gave me the follow after the fight
14:42cuz he he saw he saw us doing it and um
14:44Yeah, he's I think he's going to help me
14:46get set up with the streaming and stuff.
14:47So,
14:48>> yeah,
14:48>> I think it'd help you out with the
14:49fighting. He says he's an expert. We saw
14:51him in Arman's corner. He's very
14:53successful.
14:53>> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, shoot. [laughter]
14:56>> I don't know if I'd have in my corner,
14:57but man,
14:58>> what if he paid the 200? [laughter]
15:01>> Say that as well.
15:02>> Neon, if you give him the 200, he's
15:03down.
15:04>> Arman's a little better well off than me
15:06right now, bro. So, We'll take that.
15:08>> Yeah. Give up the money, you know. Let's
15:10go. [laughter]
15:11We'll walk out to the song. Everything.
15:13>> Yeah, that was cool to see. But I I
15:14really didn't even get a chance to watch
15:15those fights. Like after my fight, like
15:17it was just like pandemonium, so I
15:18didn't even get to watch like the the
15:20main and the co-main, but I heard there
15:22was a scrap, you know.
15:23>> Oh, yeah.
15:23>> But I did see the the finish on on on
15:25both.
15:26>> Hard to miss him. But yeah. Yeah. Who
15:28was the craziest person that you never
15:29expected hit you up?
Mia Khalifa, Morgan Wallen & Joe Rogan
15:31>> Mia was definitely a crazy one. Yeah.
15:33>> Mia hit you up. Yeah. Well, she she just
15:35gave me the follow, you know, because
15:37she's very supportive of the
15:39>> and and all that. So, I think we're
15:41going to be doing a collab, you know, to
15:43>> What kind of collab? [laughter]
15:47>> You guys might have spent a lot of time
15:48when you were in the, you know.
15:50>> Yeah. Yeah. No, there's definitely a lot
15:51of that are going to be uh [laughter]
15:54I'll leave it at that.
15:56>> Don't think that's cooler than the
15:57fight.
15:58>> Yeah. No, it's definitely been uh some
16:00interesting. I met Morgan Wallen as
16:01well. Yeah. When I went out to Wow.
16:03>> Yeah. That was unreal.
16:04>> Holy Joe Rogan, Morgan Wall.
16:07>> Yeah. Yeah. So, it was at the same we he
16:08took me to uh Ways to Well, which is
16:11like a stem cell health treatment
16:12center. Yeah. Joe B just got me hooked
16:14up with the the full stem cell treatment
16:16and Morgan Wallen had to be there and
16:19yeah,
16:19>> your life is like literally like a
16:21Hollywood movie now.
16:22>> It's it's it's been unreal. Yeah. Still
16:24trying to process it.
16:25>> Do you have the support of your family
16:27and you out there to fight? Do they send
16:28you videos or like send you their
16:30support?
16:31>> Yeah. Well, that's supposed to be crazy.
16:32Like there's been like a bunch of like
16:33Reddit articles that are coming up like
16:34all kinds of people that like serve with
16:36me that like are like holy like he he
16:38made it you know like so like I got I
16:40got a lot of stories from the core a lot
16:42of stories from my my life before like
16:44it's uh it's cool to see a lot of people
16:46popping out and showing their support
16:48you know seeing that you know the long
16:50road it took to get here cuz it feels
16:51like an overnight success one punch but
16:53it's like in reality it's been like over
16:54a decade of just like grinding to get to
16:57this moment right here. I mean, you're
16:59telling David Gogggins precoid, hey,
17:01[clears throat] I'm going to get in the
17:01UFC and, you know, get on the Joe Rogan
17:04and now you're doing it seven years
17:05later. That's definitely not overnight.
17:07>> Yeah. Manifestation is real
17:08>> 100%. And I'm proud of you. Um, I think
17:10they should do something like with your,
17:12you know, brothers like have them like
17:14at the next fight or something cool like
17:16in a section, you know, that would be
17:17dope for a walk out maybe.
17:19>> Yeah. So, I'm I'm I'm talking to the
17:21UFC. Well, we're supposed to go out to
17:24to do like a they've done like a collab
17:25out there with like the headquarters and
17:27stuff and that's core base there where I
17:30I was actually stationed there in
17:31Quanico, but um I've been talking to
17:32them about like a veteran integration
17:34program, you know, where I could
17:35possibly like go to like the bases,
17:37possibly like find a way to incorporate
17:38like a pipeline because like it's very
17:40difficult to get out and like to pursue
17:42this this career, you know. So, um yeah,
17:45I'm going to be talking to the UFC about
17:46that and seeing what we can make happen.
17:48But I definitely want to get involved in
17:49that that community for sure. definitely
17:51like other badass fighters in the court
17:54who could join the UFC, right?
17:55>> Yeah. Yeah, for sure.
17:58>> Yeah, there's some straight up. I think
18:00we got Chris Chris Nolan. He's fighting
18:02today. I'm sorry, this week I think in
18:04Salt Lake. So, he's another and then um
18:06yeah, there's been like Tim Kennedy
18:08who's I don't know the crazy war stories
18:10that came out afterwards. But, uh you
18:12know, there's there's a couple there's a
18:14couple veterans that are coming out, you
18:16know. But yeah, I think that's what it
18:17takes is for someone to see like, oh,
18:19like this guy's doing it, you know, and
18:20like then it makes it realistic cuz like
18:21when I got out the Marine Corps and I
18:23was like, hey, I want to be a UFC
18:24fighter, like uh like no, you need like
18:26an actual career plan after, you know,
18:28like that's not like a realistic thing,
18:30you know? So, I think now once they're
18:32seeing people do it, I think it's going
18:34to be a lot more common.
18:35>> He's I love what Sean Strickland says
18:37like I couldn't have played in the NFL
18:38or the NBA.
18:39>> This is the only sport I could be the
18:41champion in, but it's it's this.
18:42>> Yeah, it's mental for sure. No, he's
18:44done a good job at that because he'd
18:45probably be cooking meth somewhere in
18:47the trailer park, [laughter]
18:50you know, found it. This next segment is
18:52presented by DraftKings. The crown is
18:54yours.
18:55>> Zack, ever since you picked the Seahawks
18:57against my Patriots in the Super Bowl,
18:59it's like the kiss of death. Now, we
19:01travel to Buffalo this week. What do you
19:05got? Do I have any good news coming? I I
19:07have to say ever since the pick, it just
19:09the Patriots have been an abject
19:10disaster from the the coach uh Drake
19:13May. I mean, what what hasn't gone wrong
19:16since that game? Um unfortunately, no.
19:19No, I I don't think so. There's no other
19:21way to describe the pitches other than a
19:23disaster and it started in the off
19:24season. Um the coach has to sit out the
19:27draft because of some some personal
19:29things and then you would hope things
19:31turn around with the addition of AJ
19:32Brown, but you know a few drives in he
19:34ankle, he gets put on IR. They don't
19:37have a very suitable replacement. It
19:39seems like the defense taking a step
19:40back, but o overall I mean the most
19:43glaring thing about this team is the
19:45fact that quarterback Drake May, who was
19:47an MVP candidate, was this close, lost
19:50by a razor thin margin, and brought the
19:51Patriots to the Super Bowl, has just
19:53been a shell of himself. um he looks
19:56unsure. He doesn't have that same spark
19:57or confidence in that postgame press
20:00conference. That was very telling. He
20:01said, "I don't know why I'm not making
20:03these throws that I used to make. It's
20:05uh not looking good for Patriots
20:07Nation." And to go to at Buffalo, the
20:103-0, the scorching hot Buffalo Bills in
20:13this divisional matchup, it's a tough
20:15task. It's a tough task for the defense
20:17as well. Um some of the guys who were
20:19making tackles last year, this year, not
20:21so much. your spaines and your key
20:24contributors are going to have a hard
20:25time wrangling down Josh Allen, James
20:27Cook who have looked on fire. They look
20:29like a wellcogged oiled machine now that
20:32they promoted offensive coordinator Joe
20:34Braded to head coach. So the Buffalo
20:36Bills hot, the Patriots not so much. And
20:39I don't see them getting back on track
20:41this week. It's just too tough of a
20:43matchup and too many things going wrong.
20:45So I think the Patriots fall down to one
20:47and three and the Bills go to 4-0. I'm
20:49sorry, Mark. I know hope's not a plan,
20:51but I'm hopeful that we can do it. But
Mental Warfare, Manifestation & Jon Jones
20:54we'll see. We'll see. What percent do
20:57you contribute the sport to mental
20:59versus physical? like percentage- wise
21:01like man maybe 70 30 but it could be
21:03even more than that because like I think
21:05this was more of a mental battle like
21:07this this fight you know everything from
21:08like the press conference you know like
21:10some of that psychological
21:12going into the belief self-belief you
21:14know against all odds and like I don't
21:16know like man like really visualizing
21:18and manifesting you know like I feel
21:19like you could you could do anything if
21:21you really believe it you know and
21:22that's what it comes down to so yeah I
21:24would probably say about 75 25 yeah
21:27>> did you have any words with Jon Jones
21:29pre- or postight I'm sure he saw my DMs
21:31with him cuz I have a few DMs with him
21:33from like while while back where I was
21:35telling him where I was going to be. I
21:36didn't talk to him pre-fight, post
21:38fight. I just shook I shook their hands.
21:40I haven't seen the clip of it so it's
21:41made me feel like a like delusional but
21:43I vividly remember after like I did a
21:45little few laps celebrate like I saw
21:48them before they walked out and I gave
21:49them a quick handshake to Gable and
21:51Jones. Yeah, but I haven't seen any of
21:52the footage of it so maybe I'm tripping.
21:53>> You might have just imagined.
21:54>> Yeah, man. [ __ ] It was It felt It felt
21:57so surreal like, you know, I'm still
21:59like processing like what just happened.
22:01You know,
22:01>> I love DC when he was like getting on
22:03Gable about going and they're like,
22:04"Bro, that's what you did against Sean."
22:05He's like, "No, I did. That's AI."
22:07>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
22:08>> But it wasn't he did. He's like, "I
22:09don't remember that at all."
22:10>> Yeah. No, but he was like genuinely
22:12>> No, he was I mean, literally, bro, when
22:14your brain turns off, you don't know.
22:15No, you brought a lot of hype at the
22:17press conference, which is your job at
22:19the end of the day when you're a
22:20fighter. And I tell people all the time
22:21about the podcast. It's such a different
22:23vibe being with a fighter versus like an
22:25NFL player.
22:26>> Yeah.
22:26>> Is they're employees of the NFL, right?
22:28They go out there, they're paid to play.
22:29But you guys are independent
22:30contractors. You're on your own. You got
22:32to create your own value. You got to go
22:34do the media rounds, create that buzz,
22:35create that hype. You can be a great
22:37fighter and get cut.
22:38>> Yeah.
22:38>> You can go six and0 and they'll cut you
22:39if you're too boring, right? So, it's
22:41your job to go out there and get that
22:42attention at the press conference and
22:44poke it. You say cut the line. It's only
22:45because of his the he says
22:47>> and even before the fight if you look
22:49back like I was doing like my own promo
22:50because like I had got at came at the
22:52[ __ ] the UFC I was just like hey like
22:54this is like the fourth or fifth collab
22:56you guys do with this guy like am I
22:57going to get any promo and so I like
22:58ended up going outside the performance
23:00institute and I was like I'm going to
23:01promote myself I'm fighting September 19
23:04and that went viral and then I ran to
23:05Floyd Mayweather and I got another Floyd
23:08bro
23:10it was good until it wasn't good luck to
23:12you you know but it went crazy viral
23:14because of that So, I was promoting
23:15myself the whole way even before the
23:17fight, you know, and I think the UFC saw
23:19that and they're like, "Okay, this guy
23:20knows how to move the needle, you know,
23:22like you said, like even if you're
23:23winning, if you can't if you can't make
23:24numbers happen, then you get cut."
23:26>> And the beautiful thing about the UFC,
23:27bro, they don't care what you say as
23:28long as it gets numbers, bro. Dana
23:30doesn't care, bro.
23:31>> Yeah. No, thank thankfully, you know.
23:33>> Yeah. Freedom of speech, bro. Imagine
23:34Strickland any other sport.
23:35>> Oh, yeah.
23:36>> He would have been out. Yeah. It doesn't
23:37matter. You'd be the best quarterback in
23:39the league, bro. You're out. Yeah.
23:40>> Facts. Facts.
23:41>> No. No. That's why I love having like
23:42the fighters on the pod too cuz they say
23:44whatever the [ __ ] they want. There's no
23:45filter. They don't have to worry about
23:47America, man. Like freedom is like it's
23:50so crazy how we everyone's been so
23:51scared now to just like just speak, you
23:53know? Like you're I don't want to get
23:54cancelled. Oh, I don't want to say this.
23:56Offend this offend. I'm like, bro, like
23:58just be who you are. Say what you want.
24:00You know, this is a this is what we what
24:02we stand for, you know? Like I don't
24:03know how how it's gotten mixed so much.
24:05>> Me either. Yeah. Yeah. But you guys were
24:07the best. Uh my favorite one I've
24:09probably done recently, Bobby Green. He
24:10was on the pod. I love Bobby, bro.
24:13>> Yeah. I got [clears throat] in his
24:13stream. I'm excited for the clip to
24:15drop. We had I think we're gonna have a
24:16viral clip coming.
24:17>> Wait, you just did a stream?
24:18>> No, he was streaming and we ran into
24:20each other and like it was just like a
24:22dope dope clip, you know? So, he's
24:24fighting this weekend, I think.
24:25>> Yeah, I know. I'm excited. Salt Lake
24:26City.
24:26>> Yeah. Are you going to be there?
24:27>> I don't know. We got uh I might have to
24:29go to London. Are you going to go?
24:30>> No, I don't think so.
24:31>> It's Utah's tough.
24:33>> Yeah. I don't even know his fighting
24:34besides Bobby Green.
24:35>> I only know Bobby, let's be honest.
24:36Yeah, he's the main event, but
24:38>> in my mind, like he's the people's main
24:40event cuz the main event is Wang Kong
24:42and
24:43>> I'm not kidding. Wang Kong is the main
24:45event.
24:46>> But [laughter] Bobby Green, they they
24:47called him up and they're like, you
24:49know, get your over Salt Lake City.
24:51>> Yeah. Yeah,
24:51>> cuz we need someone that people actually
24:53know.
24:54>> Yeah. No, I love what he's doing with
24:55the streaming and all that, bro. He's
24:57he's a G for sure. Solid, dude.
24:59>> No, no, I'm excited to watch him fight,
25:00though. Saturday.
25:01>> I remember it was actually my first my
25:03first fight in the UFC and we get like
25:05after our weigh-ins. This is at the Apex
25:07so it's not like the big weigh- in. They
25:09we have like the fighter meeting where
25:10like Sean Shelby or like McManner will
25:12come like go over like hey the bonuses
25:14are available. We're on live TV don't do
25:16this blah blah blah blah. Bobby Green
25:18was just like in the back just like
25:20pacing just back and forth just like
25:22like a man like everyone's just sitting
25:24like listening to Sean Shelby just like
25:26like just pacing back and forth like I
25:28was just like what the [ __ ] is this up
25:30with this guy though? I [ __ ] with him
25:32man. He's a nut like me man. Let's go
25:34[laughter]
25:35>> fighting style. Yeah. Have you seen
25:38that?
25:38>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, it's dope. I want
25:40to know how he does the Triple H like
25:42the water thing. I've tried it before. I
25:44was
25:44>> I get him to teach you on stream.
25:46>> Yeah. Yeah, man. Man, that shit's cool
25:47cuz that was where I Triple H used to do
25:49that. That was the original one I seen.
25:51Yeah. So, uh I like that.
25:52>> Are you a WWE fan?
25:54>> Yeah. Yeah, he's a huge Undertaker fan.
25:55That was my guy. I would practice like
25:57Tombstones on my little
25:59>> You were cutting promos before the
26:00fight. I'm like this guy watched WWE
26:02growing up for sure.
26:03>> Yeah. No, for sure. But like everything
26:04was just like off the cusp, you know?
26:06Like I didn't like plan anything like
26:08the I mean some of them were Nate Diaz
26:09quotes like I'm not surprised, hit don't
26:11get hit. Like those are Nate Diaz. But
26:13um yeah, like some of them were just
26:15like, man, just on the go, you know,
26:17just being me, you know? Like
26:18>> would you love to like go down the
26:20professional wrestling route?
26:21>> Maybe interesting. I If I heard they get
26:23paid better than us.
26:24>> They get paid a lot.
26:25>> And they don't have to get in the head
26:26for real.
26:27>> Brock Lesnar went right back.
26:28>> Yeah. So, uh Hey, man. If they're open
26:31open to having me, I could talk about
26:33that.
26:33>> Yeah. At least make some appearances,
26:34right? That'd be dope, bro. Yeah.
26:36>> Have you gotten any other like cool
26:37opportunities come your way in like the
26:39mainstream media route?
26:40>> Uh mainstream? I mean, like I had a TMZ
26:43interview. I don't know about that, but
26:44um maybe
26:45>> No Love Island yet.
26:46>> No,
26:47>> no Dancing with the Stars.
26:48>> No, no, none of that. Yeah, I don't
26:50think I don't think that's [laughter]
26:51for me. I can't I can't dance for sure.
26:54And uh
26:54>> no mass singer
26:55>> and the Love Island. I don't know. But
26:56those things drama is not for me. You
26:58know, that's the thing is like I'm a
26:59very like introverted, quiet guy.
27:01Usually I'm just like with my dog
27:02hanging out like in the mountain
27:04somewhere.
27:04>> Bro, that's the thing about like a all
27:06these guys. We had them on the stream.
27:07They're like his life's so boring. Like
27:09that's just he's just the most chill guy
27:11ever.
27:11>> Yeah. Yeah. I I remember hearing one of
27:13his interviews where he was just like,
27:14"Oh, sometimes I got to like say
27:15something to make sure my voice still
27:17works cuz it's just been sitting in the
27:18house quiet, you know, and I could like
27:20really relate to that, you know, cuz
27:21like usually it's just me and my dog,
27:22you know, and like for now to be like
27:24interviews and mainstream and all this.
27:26>> Is it comfortable?
27:26>> It's been a little overwhelming for
27:28sure, you know, cuz like one part of me
27:30wants to make sure I like take advantage
27:32of this this moment and I like work and
27:34collab and like do all the
27:35opportunities. The other part of me is
27:37like I really haven't had the time to
27:39like sit and like process what's what's
27:41happening, you know, and like um so it's
27:43just like a balance of both. But I think
27:45after the Joe Rogan podcast drops, after
27:48I do the the main collabs, um I think
27:50I'm going to take like a week and just
27:52chill, try try to
27:53>> Did getting back to training help ground
27:54you?
27:55>> Yeah, a little bit. But it still has it
27:56hasn't been like a consistent training
27:58schedule, you know? So like the week
27:59after the fight, like sleep was pretty
28:01minimal. Like obviously just adrenaline
28:03running, you know, and then like just
28:04trying to like get back to people and
28:06like with that were trying to partner
28:07with me and stuff like that. I got like
28:09maybe like a little light pump in, but
28:11it was like normally I'm at the gym for
28:12like 2 three hours, you know, like just
Sharaf’s Training Camp & Mighty Mouse’s Advice
28:15having having [clears throat] a good
28:16time, you know?
28:16>> Yeah. Are you doing like like through a
28:18day of training? Are you training like
28:19MMA in general? Are you training like
28:21each each martial art separately? So for
28:23for the camp that I had this one it was
28:26uh Monday, Wednesday sparring, Tuesday,
28:28Thursday were wrestling and then I was
28:29doing basically strength and
28:30conditioning twice a week uh at the
28:32performance institute and that was kind
28:33of it. Saturday I would go do some kind
28:35of conditioning up at Mount Charleston
28:36or sprints something like that. That's
28:38pretty much it. Either wrestling and
28:40sparring, you know, but I had the
28:41podcast with uh Mighty Mouse and he was
28:43telling me how I need to be doing like
28:44more like fundamental stuff, you know,
28:46cuz he says I spar too much, you know.
28:48It's got I got to break it down. So
28:49definitely going to be doing some
28:50reassessing in the future. No, you got
28:52to listen up when he talks.
28:53>> Yeah. Yeah.
28:54>> What a legend Mighty Mouse is.
28:55>> Yeah. No, it was dope to be on. His
28:57reaction was pricey. He's like, "The
28:58guy's owing too." And then
29:01all the MMA like
29:02>> I love his media run too, bro.
29:04>> Yeah. All these guys, they had some
29:06crazy reactions. But, uh, yeah, Mighty
29:07Mouse was awesome. Yeah. He gave me some
29:09good advice,
29:10>> dude. He might be the GOAT. Like, just
29:12as far as like actual skill in the
29:14octagon, the way he blended, he did
29:16everything so perfectly.
29:18>> Yeah. No, he's he's
29:19>> No weaknesses. But I I even told him
29:20straight out I was like, "Look, bro,
29:21like I I never really watch the lighter
29:23guys." I was like, "I saw your armbar
29:24highlight, you know, but
29:25>> lying arm bar, bro."
29:26>> Yeah. And then I I felt like I
29:28disrespected him because I was just
29:29like, "How do you take it?" I was like,
29:30"Oh." And then they and then you went to
29:32the PFL. He's like, "Pf?" I was like,
29:34"Shit, [laughter] one, one, one." But uh
29:36No, he was cool, man. He's awesome. I
29:38like I like Mighty Mouse.
29:40>> But you like watching the heavier guys
29:41fight.
29:41>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That was like I've
29:43always just been like watching Kane
29:44Velasquez, Juno Santos, you know that
29:46Brock Lesnar era, you know, Frank Mir,
29:49Carwin.
29:49>> Yeah. All those guys like that's Chuck
29:51Liddell. That's who I first started
29:52watching, you know, Anderson Silva. Um
29:54those guys Yeah. Rampage was cool, too.
29:56And um yeah, those are the guys I really
29:58watch. Like even now, like I feel like
29:59it's just a different era, you know?
30:01Like
30:01>> it's so different, bro. Like the the
30:02light heavyweight, Golden Arrow, Tito
30:04Ortiz, too. You talked about you trained
30:05with him. Like
30:06>> those guys were set Forest Griffin and
30:09Shogun and they were coming from Pride
30:11and Hendo.
30:12>> These guys were animals, bro.
30:14>> Yeah, it was different.
30:14>> They were fighting Pride like no no
30:17rules, no time limits and they were
30:18coming over here. Insane.
30:20>> Yeah,
30:20>> insane. And it was all the 205 guys and
30:23up that were like really dominant sport
30:24and now it's you have you're so much
30:26more, you know, like McGregor is the
30:28biggest star ever and he was start at
30:30145.
30:30>> Yeah.
30:31>> That was never a thing before him.
30:32>> Yeah. Who do you think is the biggest
30:33star in the UFC right now? right now the
30:35biggest star in the UFC I think it's
30:38Gachi
30:41>> who do you say
30:41>> oh man I would think maybe
30:43>> I think international gate in America
30:46>> yeah that's fair gate is definitely the
30:47American hero but that was I was think
30:49like Pereira is kind of like he's had a
30:50few losses in like his
30:51>> dude he's not and he didn't take it well
30:54>> what did you think about that
30:55>> I mean I definitely think it was back of
30:56the head cuz that was crazy to me once I
30:58saw the video and they're like oh it's
30:59just like the spine I'm like bro what
31:01the [ __ ] like I thought it was like
31:02anything like on the side of the ear you
31:04you know, like is he's fair to say that,
31:06you know, he got hit in the back cuz he
31:07got all the lumps and stuff, but yeah,
31:09like heavyweight's just different, man.
31:11Like you saw in my fight, like people
31:12just think we're going to come up to
31:13heavyweight. Like, no, bro. Like it's
31:15different up here. Like we hit hard,
31:17>> dude. One shot, bro. One Even if you
31:20block the
31:21>> Yeah.
31:22>> You know what I mean? It'll still rattle
31:23your And your is like spinning
31:26everywhere, bro.
31:26>> Yeah. It's It's crazy,
31:27>> dude. Remember Anthony Joshua versus
31:29Andy Ruiz? Joshua is this 6'6 like
31:32behemoth down Ruiz who's 5' 11
31:34>> and Ruiz hits him behind the ear and
31:36it's over. You're on skates. There's
31:37nothing you can do to get hit by heavy
31:38in the right spot. Nothing.
31:39>> That's it.
31:40>> Yeah, I like Andrew Ruiz. That was a
31:41cool fight. But
31:42>> that was a cool ass fight, bro.
31:43>> Yeah, but I think that like that was
31:44like his like peak right there.
31:46>> Oh yeah. No, he never got in shape
31:47again.
31:47>> Yeah. Yeah. It's hard,
31:48>> dude. Dude, dude. Andy is a nice guy. I
31:51really like him. But I was at a fight
31:53backstage after that and I kid you not,
31:55he was he was hella cool. He had three
31:56K-sized Hershey bars and he was
31:58unwrapping them, eating them one by one.
32:00I was like, "This guy lives the life,
32:01bro. This guy who thought he was before
32:03that Joshua fight."
32:04>> I think that's real though.
32:05>> Yeah. Yeah.
32:06>> Have you seen his brother?
32:07>> No.
32:07>> So his brother's like 100 lbs heavier
32:09than him.
32:10>> And his hands are just as fast.
32:12>> Damn.
32:12>> I don't know. They're like these like
32:15who just like [laughter] have like the
32:17fastest hands you'll ever see, bro.
32:18>> Yeah. No, they're
32:19>> they're ridiculous, dude. And Ruiz is
32:21like you can't knock him down. He's so
32:23sturdy.
32:23>> Yeah. Yeah. These guys get these that
32:25have the weird builds are just like
32:27Vulcanowski and like the little short
32:29guys like they're tough, bro.
32:30>> Yeah, for sure.
32:31>> Who's the strongest guy that that you've
What It’s Really Like Sparring Francis Ngannou
32:33worked with? Like where they grabbed you
32:34were like, "Oh,
32:35>> Francis." I was like, "Who let this guy
32:36in, bro?" Okay. [laughter] He's on some
32:38crazy. Oh, yeah. He just felt like
32:41strong.
32:42>> Even more than you thought.
32:43>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was kind I was
32:45legit scared. Like I was reassessing my
32:47life choices after that for sure.
32:48>> Did you still work with him or
32:50>> uh No, I haven't. He has I haven't seen
32:52him back. I think he had his Joshua
32:54fight and um I don't know what he's
32:55doing now. I think he's going more
32:57towards the business route, you know.
32:58I'm not sure. It's sparring.
32:59>> Are you glad he's out of the UFC?
33:01>> Uh I mean [laughter]
33:03I would I I wouldn't fight him, you
33:05know.
33:08[ __ ] maybe for a couple male, but man,
33:11it's just some guys that you're just
33:13like, "Holy shit."
33:13>> He's got to be last on the list.
33:15>> Yeah, for sure, man. Yeah. No,
33:17>> that's a lot different. I got a video. I
33:19I I I could pull it up, but it was
33:21literally um I was on duty watching the
33:24when he knocked out a Jermaine Sterling,
33:25you know, like and I'm like recording
33:27it. Even my face on that video was just
33:29like pure, bro. Like I was like, "Bro,
33:31me to get out and fight this guy. What
33:33the?" [laughter]
33:35But no, Francis is awesome, man. He's
33:37super nice.
33:37>> Do you think he'd still be the champ if
33:39he's in the UFC today?
33:40>> Yeah. Yeah, bro. Who Who gonna be
33:43[ __ ] ser?
33:45>> Only John, right? Maybe. Yeah, that was
33:48the fight to make, you know. That was
33:49the fight to make, but I it never
33:51happened. It was crazy because I thought
33:52that would have been that would numbers,
33:54you know,
33:54>> would have been huge, bro.
33:55>> Which is crazy cuz like they they like
33:57were so with him like on the come up,
33:59you know, like they helped him so much.
34:01>> But Dana says he like robbed him.
34:03>> Yeah, I heard about that.
34:04>> That would be pretty scary.
34:05>> That's kind
34:06>> I wouldn't want to get near. [laughter]
34:09>> See, I don't know.
34:11>> Scared too, bro.
34:12>> That's That's [ __ ]
34:13>> I don't want a gun grabbing me, bro.
34:15[laughter]
34:16You've been chill son and he had like a
34:18little beef with him and I guess was
34:19across the parking lot. He was like,
34:20"Oh,
34:22>> so I have to go down." [laughter]
Who Does Sean Sharaf Want to Fight Next?
34:25>> Yeah. No, that's
34:26>> And is the only guy who can scare other
34:28fighters, bro. He's just different.
34:29>> Yeah, he's different for sure.
34:31>> Who is on your list of guys that you
34:33want to fight?
34:33>> Just pulled off the biggest upset in MMA
34:35history. I feel like I won a world title
34:36right now, you know? So, I'm not looking
34:38at like, oh, get a top 15 opponent, get
34:41a a top five. Like, like what? Who?
34:44Like, I off the top of my head, I can't
34:46think of anyone. Yeah, I want to fight
34:47that guy. You know,
34:48>> you want it to be a spectacle on a
34:49pay-per-view.
34:50>> Yeah, of course. You know, like it has
34:51to be a big fight, you know? I pulled
34:53off the biggest upset MMA history, you
34:55know, like that was supposed to be that
34:56guy. They're talking about, yeah, he'll
34:58be world champion next year. He's
35:00supposed to be fighting MSG, you know.
35:01So, guess that's me now, you know. So,
35:03uh yeah, I got to meet with the UFC. I
35:05got to talk to them and see see what
35:06they have in planned for me cuz like I I
35:08was supposed to be the the lamb to the
35:10you know and like I
35:12had the plan. Yeah. Upset the
35:14>> back against the wall coming off of two
35:16losses. 15 to1 underdog. Entire world
35:19picking against you. Jon Jones in the
35:21corner.
35:21>> Yeah. The reaction cam was was
35:23beautiful. Yeah. People are loving that.
35:25[laughter]
35:27>> That's got to feel good, bro.
35:28>> It does. It feels so good.
35:30>> Have you been watching like all like the
35:31people who picked against you like that
35:33too? like
35:34>> they kind of all disappeared, you know.
35:35I was getting like thousands of comments
35:37before saying like, "Oh, like enjoy your
35:39fame before you go to sleep and all
35:40that, but it kind of I think it got
35:42overwhelmed with all the memes and all
35:44the
35:44>> Do you save those comments like bolton
35:46poor mach before you fight? Like does
35:47that help motivate you as well?"
35:49>> I just block people, man. If I don't
35:50like what you say, I'm just like block I
35:53block people quick, man. Like I don't
35:55have I don't allow negativity to enter
35:57my space, you know? Like [ __ ]
35:58>> You picked that up in your psychology.
36:00>> Yeah. Yeah. I was just like it takes too
36:02much energy to like argue or try to
36:04debate or like if you don't like me cool
36:06keep it moving man. Yeah that's it.
36:08>> You see fighters all the time they get
36:09sucked into
36:09>> I definitely like fight week I was
36:11trying to turn the notifications down
Fight-Day Rituals, Prayer & Visualization
36:12trying not to be on Instagram as much.
36:14No I just block.
36:15>> You have any fight day rituals? Like
36:16anything you like to do for a fight.
36:18>> I I was doing breath work and like just
36:20very deep meditation visualization you
36:22know prayer. I was just really praying
36:24like it wasn't even like a a proper
36:26prayer. It was just like a me like me
36:29like, "Hey God, like if you're real, I
36:30could really use some help, you know,
36:32like I'm a believer. You help me pull
36:33this off, you know?" So, I think that
36:35that gave me a little bit of a spiritual
36:37awakening, you know, cuz for it to
36:38happen in that that way, I was like,
36:40man, definitely felt like some divine
36:42intervention for sure. So, that's
36:43usually what fight day looks like, you
36:44know, just visualization and just trying
36:46to like just relax and just not let the
36:49moment get to me.
36:49>> Did you visualize the first round?
36:51>> No, I visualized myself going through a
36:53I visualized myself getting my knees
36:55caved in from oblique kicks. Visualize
36:57having to get up in the third round
36:59completely exhausted, having to punch
37:02and elbow and knee and just like grit a
37:05dog fight out. Like that's what I was
37:06thinking. That's why when you saw him
37:08fall, my eye was just jumped on him.
37:11Yeah. They got me the trading card. You
37:12saw the trading card?
37:13>> Yeah, [laughter] bro. How dope is that?
37:14>> Yeah, that's nuts. I mean, I don't know
37:16how many I sold, but I think I sold.
37:17>> Are you going to They ain't you in the
37:19video game?
37:19>> I think I'm going to ask for that next.
37:20Yeah.
37:21>> Yeah, bro. I would call him right now.
37:22Yeah, while you're hot.
37:23>> Put it Put it in my negotiations. You
37:25know, I need video game. money a new
37:26TRX.
37:27>> Yeah, I know. [laughter]
37:29>> Let's go, man.
37:30>> Video game money, bro. Whenever someone
37:32uses your character, right?
37:33>> Yeah. Yeah. That's how it works. The
37:34more they play with your character, you
37:36get paid, huh?
37:36>> For Yeah. Like I think they might even
37:38do like a DLC pack. People can buy your
37:40character, too. Like they got different
37:42splits. So, are you going to get into
37:44the streaming world now?
37:45>> I I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to it. I
37:46see like that's where a lot of people
37:47are making their money now. You know, I
37:49feel like that's what's next. And um
37:50yeah, just the fact that maybe I connect
37:52with Neon and and get set up like he's
37:54one of the best in that. I think maybe
37:56Aiden Ross too. Um we have some mutual
37:58friends. So I wouldn't be opposed to it,
38:00man. Like that's the thing. Like
38:01fighting is amazing, but it's just like
38:02a small chapter of my life. And it's
38:05like I also have to think about what
38:06comes next and start setting up ventures
38:08in that that aspect. You know,
38:09>> you're doing all these podcasts. You
38:11might want to start a podcast.
38:12>> Uh maybe. Yeah, maybe. I don't know.
38:15[ __ ] How's it work out for you? Yeah,
38:17>> it's working pretty good.
38:18>> Do you get paid for per views? Like how
38:20does that become?
38:20>> So you get So it's set up sponsors, bro.
38:23>> That's what it is.
38:24>> All about the sponsors. Yeah, it's all
38:25about sponsors, advertisers based on
38:27your numbers, right?
38:28>> Yeah, cuz right now I got like 60
38:29million views on my Instagram. Like my
38:31thing is going crazy. I'm like not
38:33making a dime off of it anymore.
38:34>> Well, bro, if you had a podcast getting
38:3560 million views, you'd be making
38:37millions of dollars.
38:38>> Yeah. So, that's the thing. Yeah. You
38:40got to put transition to somewhere
38:42that's monetizable.
38:43>> Yeah, for sure.
38:44>> Yeah.
38:44>> You don't make anything off Instagram?
38:46>> Not really. No, it just drives the
38:48podcast.
38:49>> It's like tools. Instagram, Facebook,
38:51Tik Tok. That's what for Neon, too.
38:53>> Yeah. He wants them to all watch his his
38:55his kick,
38:56>> you know, and then he makes money off
38:58that.
38:58>> I need to figure out cuz like everyone's
38:59telling me like, "Hey, some merch, get a
39:01digital product. You have to have
39:03somewhere to funnel the engagement that
39:05you're getting, you know, and I was like
39:06trying to figure it out, you know."
39:07>> So, that's a lot to balance. We're
39:08trying to be a fighter, too.
39:09>> Yeah. Exactly. You know, like I need a
39:11like a lawyer, a financial adviser. I
39:13need like a team, you know? So, that's
39:15the that's the part that I'm navigating
39:16right now is like figuring out how I'm
39:18going to use my platform that I've been
39:20given right now, you know? And obviously
39:21like I want to be able to help like in
39:22in charities and help with the veteran
39:24community and like things that are
39:25bigger than than fighting, you know? I
39:27think that's going to be huge.
39:28>> It's so hard to balance, bro. Like you
39:30probably have this vision of being on
39:32the precipice of a title shot, becoming
39:34the UFC champ, everything you dreamed of
39:36and then you have all these
39:36opportunities flying at you trying to
39:38monetize it all at once, trying to help
39:40your people. Like that's a lot to
39:41balance.
39:42>> Yeah, 100%.
39:43>> Yeah. The only way is like meditation,
39:45breath work, right? Just like
39:46>> Yeah. I mean that that's something I
39:48haven't gotten a chance to do is like I
39:49usually journal and stuff and that was
39:51that's been bothering me that I'm like
39:52damn I haven't even been able to journal
39:53about the fight and like everything. So
39:55I'm going to get to that this week. But
39:57um meditation and and breath work that's
39:59going to be crucial. But I think also
40:00just setting myself with the right team,
40:02you know, that's what I'm kind of like
40:03been talking to like some people about
40:05like that people I trust cuz right now
40:06it's like everyone's like hawking like
40:09everyone wants to be a part of it and
40:11it's just like very difficult to kind of
40:13differentiate who's real and who's fake.
40:15By the way, we didn't talk about this,
40:16but to get talk about our backstory, I
40:19called Mark, our CEO. I was like, "Yo,
40:20hit Justin Gate and see if they have a
40:22contact for Sean Sher cuz I picked him
40:24and I want to get him on the podcast."
40:26And then I followed you and you followed
40:28me back like an hour later like, "Did
40:29you pick me?" And I was like, "Yo, Mark,
40:31you just messaged me."
40:32>> He's like, "That's manifestation, bro."
40:34>> No, 100%.
40:35>> You literally manifested him on the
40:36podcast. Yeah, cuz that's what I was
40:37also trying to do was like when I was
40:39talking about like social media like I
40:40was trying to go through and like see
40:41like people that were actually like
40:42following me that that were like actual
40:44like of significance, you know, and um I
40:46saw you follow me. Let me see if he won,
40:48you know. But yeah, we have the same
40:49manager, Gi Gi and I.
40:51>> Yeah. Okay. Dope, bro. Dude, love those
40:54guys. No one's helped me more and asked
40:56for less than Justin Gi.
40:57>> Really?
40:58>> I can't tell you all the opportunities
40:59that have come since our last podcast.
41:01We did 40 million views in like a week.
41:03>> What kind of opportunities come from
41:04that? like sponsors, advertisers, like
41:06brands hitting me up. Like I don't know
41:08if maybe you don't see it if I don't do
41:10the gate pod cuz we got 12 million views
41:12last week. Like I don't know, maybe they
41:13put my at the top of your messages cuz I
41:15don't know. But like
41:16>> just like everything has gone right
41:18since I shot the gate pod. We did
41:20800,000 views on the long form. Like
41:22>> where do you put on YouTube? Is that
41:24that's where you monetize it?
41:25>> Yeah, on YouTube. And then the clipping
41:27went so ballistic and like everything,
41:29bro. Like so many like people hit me up
41:31after that. It was crazy. We posted the
41:33video. The first one had like 7 million
41:35has 7 million views.
41:36>> Wow.
41:36>> I was like, "Bro, what?" That's why I
41:38say he's the biggest star. The only
41:39thing he asked for is just to kick my
41:40ass.
41:42>> Wow.
41:42>> All he wants to do is fight me, bro.
41:44>> Yeah. That's crazy.
41:45>> We were doing the pod. He's like
41:46uncomfortable. He's like, "I don't like
41:47speaking. Like, I don't like podcast. I
41:49don't like doing any of this shit."
41:50>> And then at the end, he's like, "We're
41:51going to spar now. We're going to spar.
41:53You ready?" I'm like, "Oh,
41:56>> sport here.
41:56>> At Onyx."
41:57>> Oh, you you went out there for the
42:00>> You got to come to get Justin, bro.
42:01>> Yeah. Yeah. No, I'm down. Yeah, they uh
42:03they started following me even way
42:05before the fight. Um Onyx Sports and I
42:07think Justin Gi's like
42:08>> you should Yeah, you should do their pod
42:10like they have like what hones you and
42:12do some content with Gachi for sure.
42:13That'd be sick, bro. The two Americans.
42:15>> Yeah, I love that.
42:16>> The American underdog story, bro. I love
42:18that, bro.
42:19>> Yeah, he was there too at the fight.
42:20Yeah, I saw I didn't see him when I
42:22walked out and all that, but I saw in
42:24the some of the highlights that he was
42:25there in the crowd.
42:26>> Oh, he's like hype, bro. He loves He
42:28loves, bro. dude. He literally probably
42:31like gets arousing. He's like [laughter]
42:34>> I haven't met him personally yet, but
42:36>> No, he's he's so chill. He's like you
42:38though, I think. Like just chills with
42:39his dog. Like literally. [laughter]
42:42>> Before we head out, one thing I like to
42:43ask my guests and I think especially
42:45relevant with you. What's one thing
42:46about Sean Shro that nobody knows?
42:49>> I don't know if I want to tell everyone,
Sharaf’s Message on Self-Belief & Manifestation
42:52man. I don't know. I just got a crazy
42:54story, brother. There's just like so
42:55much to it. But um I think the biggest
42:57thing that I just want to put out is
42:59just the self-belief, man. I just want I
43:01just want people to know how powerful
43:02they could be and and how they could
43:04take control of their mind, especially
43:05nowadays where we're so distracted with
43:07everything and so almost negativity and
43:10all this. It's just like I just want
43:12people to understand how how they could
43:13control their mind and how everything
43:15everything happens up there. You know,
43:17once you see it in here, you can make it
43:18a reality. So yeah,
43:20>> I love it. You're living proof, baby.
43:21>> That's it, brother. Manifestation is
43:23real. John Sherro, manifestation is
43:25real. Double coverage is presented by
43:27DraftKings.
