0:25this is an essential topic because
0:28education is an important part of our
0:31lives
0:32most people get some kind of education
0:36education is different in different
0:39countries
0:40but today we'll talk about education
0:44in the u.s so first let's talk about the
0:48different
0:48levels of education in the u.s
0:52the first level of education is
0:54preschool
0:55in the u.s kids go to preschool
0:58when they're four years old but not
1:02everyone goes to preschool some people
1:05don't go i went to preschool when i was
1:08four
1:09i didn't like it because i was very shy
1:13i didn't like playing with other kids
1:16when i was young in preschool children
1:19play a lot but they also learn
1:23after preschool children go to
1:25kindergarten
1:27usually kids start kindergarten when
1:30they're
1:305 years old in kindergarten children
1:33start learning more things for example
1:37they learn to read write and make art
1:40they also learn how to be good students
1:44i remember that when i was in
1:46kindergarten
1:47we had discipline if we did something
1:50bad
1:51we got in trouble i never got in trouble
1:55because i was a good student so
1:58after kindergarten you go to elementary
2:01school
2:02in the u.s most elementary schools
2:05include 1st second third
2:08fourth fifth and sixth grade
2:11but some elementary schools don't
2:14include
2:14sixth grade in each year of elementary
2:18school
2:18you only have one teacher you have
2:22the same teacher all year in my opinion
2:26elementary school isn't that difficult
2:29in the us of course you get homework
2:33but it's not too much in elementary
2:36school
2:37you learn many things like math
2:40science history and english
2:43at this level you spend about 6 hours
2:47at school then after elementary school
2:51you go to middle school or junior high
2:54i say middle school but both of these
2:57names
2:58are correct middle school usually
3:01includes
3:017th and 8th grade at this level
3:05students have many teachers like six
3:08or seven i had six different classes
3:12each year in middle school each class
3:15was one hour long i didn't like middle
3:18school
3:19it's much harder than elementary school
3:22you get more homework and you have more
3:25tests
3:26then after middle school you go to high
3:29school
3:30in the u.s high school includes 9th
3:3410th 11th and 12th grade
3:37this is the most important time for
3:40students
3:40in the u.s if you want to go to college
3:44then it's important to do well in high
3:47school
3:48high school can be difficult but it
3:51depends on your teachers
3:53some teachers give a lot of homework and
3:56some teachers
3:57don't and some teachers are good at
4:00teaching
4:01and some teachers aren't i had some good
4:04teachers in high school
4:06but i also had some bad teachers
4:09so after high school some people go to
4:12college
4:13and some people don't of course there
4:16are
4:16different levels of university and you
4:20can
4:20earn different degrees there okay
4:23so lastly let's look at a few important
4:27vocabulary words
4:29related to education first let's talk
4:32about the word
4:34grades we use the word grades
4:37to talk about how well you did in a
4:40class
4:41or on a test in the us
4:44these grades are a b
4:47c d and f an a
4:51grade is the best and an f
4:54grade is the worst okay the next word
4:58is recess in the u.s
5:01recess is the short break that
5:04elementary school students have during
5:07their school day
5:09during recess students play
5:12talk or eat a snack this break
5:16is usually 20 or 30 minutes
5:19okay the last phrase you should learn is
5:22bachelor's degree a bachelor's degree
5:26is the degree you get after four years
5:29of university it's lower than a master's
5:33degree
