0:07I
0:09I know we have known each other very
0:11long,
0:12but I have to admit
0:14I never thought you the type to invite
0:16someone out to eat just because
0:19they have a few questions.
0:23Oh, really?
0:25They are very important questions.
0:28Well, then I guess I have to give really
0:32good answers then.
0:35I hope whatever I give you lives up to
0:38your expectations.
0:39But
0:41I have a question of my own
0:44if you don't mind.
0:47Great. Well,
0:49I was wondering
0:51what you thought of the game so far.
0:54I mean, I know you've been giving little
0:57bits of feedback
0:59and things that need to be finished
1:01before we actually release the game.
1:04But that's all the technical stuff.
1:07How do you feel when you actually play
1:10the game?
1:12You like it?
1:14If you don't like it,
1:17you're welcome to be honest with me
1:18about it.
1:20No game is going to appeal to the entire
1:22market after all.
1:24So, is there anything about the game
1:26itself
1:27that you don't find particularly
1:30appealing in any way?
1:32Like the setting or the way some of the
1:35characters were written or
1:37or well, anything.
1:41You wish you could have recruited the
1:42farmhand PC from the beginning side
1:45quest.
1:48Honestly, I didn't think anyone would
1:51get attached to that character.
1:55If you don't mind me asking, what is it
1:58about them that made you want to draw
2:00and recruit them into your party?
2:03Hm.
2:05Just then that has to do with getting to
2:07know them better.
2:09But I mean, it would have been a little
2:11difficult for the farmer to leave the
2:14farm and join the party, don't you
2:17think?
2:18If the farmer left, then there wouldn't
2:20really be anyone else to tend to the
2:23sheep or the wheat fields since they
2:26were the only person in the entire
2:28village who could manage to do both.
2:33Oh, I'm sorry I disappointed you. You
2:36must have really liked the farmer.
2:38But I think it's far too late into
2:40development to change that part of the
2:43story.
2:44Also, I think it's not really my
2:46decision to make.
2:50You're probably right.
2:52There's always fan fiction, isn't there?
2:56Weird? Of course not. Why would I think
3:00it's weird?
3:02Why would I think writing something
3:04about a character you like would be
3:06weird? If anything,
3:09it's actually really flattering. We
3:11can't all be satisfied when it comes to
3:14these things. So, it's a good way to
3:16express your thoughts about the things
3:19you enjoy.
3:21Oh, yeah. I
3:23Um
3:24was bred into it during my time.
3:28Uh
3:29fun stuff.
3:31So, any idea what you're planning on
3:34ordering?
3:36I mean, I'm not really trying to rush
3:38you anything.
3:40Just curious, mostly.
3:43Me?
3:45Are you going to think this is a little
3:47silly of me, but I was kind of thinking
3:51of getting the
3:53the
3:54build-your-own stuffed French toast.
3:58Oh, well. I mean, it's not that I think
4:01that you of it
4:02itself is silly, but
4:04you know,
4:06I just figured you might have thought I
4:08had some sort of
4:10more refined palate or something
4:13being the head of a developer of a game
4:15and all.
4:16Oh, wow. I just noticed how the
4:18different options for different legends
4:21and their territories
4:24Oh, sorry. I just got a little bit
4:27excited to see that.
4:31Uh,
4:32that's true. We're really down now,
4:34which I very well
4:37I guess we really don't get a lot of
4:39time to talk to each other since you and
4:42the others are always testing the game
4:44and you mostly all go home at the end of
4:47the day.
4:48But I guess that's part of the reason
4:50you and I are here now,
4:52isn't it?
4:53To talk.
4:55So,
4:57what sorts of questions did you have for
4:59me then?
5:04What inspired me to get into game
5:06development?
5:08Well,
5:09it's because
5:11I've always liked playing games. I
5:13especially enjoyed exploring the
5:15mechanics and how things work.
5:18And I've kind of always been fascinated
5:21with
5:22how different things worked
5:24whenever they were games or toys.
5:28Yeah, I actually did make mods for games
5:32in the past,
5:33but that was a lucky guess.
5:35It is how I got my start trying to
5:37understand how games actually worked,
5:40though.
5:42Well, I guess one of my favorite things
5:44about game development is
5:46getting to see someone's reaction to the
5:48end result.
5:52The most fun I've had is
5:55uh definitely building on the code
5:57little by little to get things just
6:00right.
6:02I mean,
6:03I like doing it and all,
6:05but I guess I just
6:09I just wish I could get things to work
6:11out a lot faster than going line by
6:14line.
6:16By line, you know.
6:18Oh, yeah.
6:20A lot of nights spent running on sugar
6:22and caffeine,
6:23but it's not something that everyone
6:25does. Just me, really.
6:28At least on this project. I can't really
6:31speak for other projects by other teams.
6:34So, now that I've answered a couple of
6:38your basic questions about why I do what
6:41I do,
6:42would you mind if I ask you the same?
6:45What is it that you like the most about
6:48gaming?
6:50Are you a story
6:53or
6:54are you a character person?
6:58You know.
7:02I can't really explain it, but you do
7:04seem the type to be into that.
7:08Oh, it looks like the server's coming.
7:12You know what you want, right?
7:14All right. You want to go first, then?
7:20Go on.
7:22Tell them.
7:31Oh, all right.
7:33My turn.
7:34Um can I
7:37Um well,
7:39can I get the build-your-own French
7:41toast with the chocolate cream filling
7:44and a raspberry compound, caramel
7:47drizzle, and powdered sugar on top.
7:51Lex, uh um can I just get a Lex?
7:56Uh thank you.
7:59Stop looking at me like that.
8:01What's so funny?
8:05I already told you that sugar and
8:07caffeine get me through my nights at
8:10work.
8:12It's a habit.
8:14Oh.
8:15It's a hard habit to break.
8:18Cut me some slack, will you?
8:22You know,
8:23I think this is the first time I've
8:25heard you laugh like that.
8:29You don't really laugh like that in any
8:31of the game dialogue.
8:33And I don't think that Joker's gotten
8:35you this way before.
8:38But the things
8:39my sweet tooth feels, the thing that
8:42lets me hear, that laugh of yours,
8:45uh that's certainly something.
8:51Uh
8:52I
8:54I just mean that I think it's nice that
8:57something so mundane can make you laugh.
9:01It's kind of endearing, you know?
9:04Am I really saying things like that to
9:07suddenly?
9:08I don't think it's sudden at all.
9:11I mean,
9:12I think I've been talking that same way
9:15I
9:16always talk with you.
9:18You know, the um
9:19the
9:21the few times we've spoken together,
9:25I've seemed more nervous this whole
9:26time.
9:28Uh well, that's
9:33that's
9:34just because I haven't eaten here
9:36before.
9:37So, I the letting have is about trying
9:39it out and all.
9:42Still
9:43seem nervous.
9:45Well,
9:46of course.
9:48I'm really curious about how the food is
9:50going to turn out.
9:52There were a lot of choices on the list
9:54after all.
9:55I'm starting to wonder if I choose
9:58things that wouldn't go well together.
10:01I should just
10:03try to relax.
10:04Maybe.
10:06Maybe you're right.
10:08I'm probably just overthinking things
10:10again.
10:12Do I
10:14Do I overthink often?
10:16Oh,
10:17all the time.
10:19I can't tell you how many times it's
10:20gotten me stuck when I'm trying to fix
10:23bugs in the coding.
10:26But, right now, it's not any
10:29It's not about anything urgent, so
10:32there's no need to worry.
10:34Well, for your list.
10:38You feel like I'm
10:40trying to hide something.
10:43And what? Mostly my nervousness. I
10:46assure you. I mean,
10:49what would you think of me if you found
10:51out what's making me nervous?
10:55Um
10:55yeah, all right. The food. That's what
10:58it is. Yep,
11:00nothing else.
11:02And this
11:04doesn't want to remind us.
11:07Maybe I should come clean now.
11:11No, wait.
11:14I should do it after we leave the
11:16dinner.
11:17That's romantic, right?
11:19Definitely.
11:21Oh, no. They're saying something
11:24and I wasn't listening at all.
11:26Uh what was that?
11:29Oh, you were asking if I was doing okay.
11:31Yeah.
11:33I'm doing fine.
11:36Don't worry about it. It's nothing.
11:39Oh. Fuzzy, well, come to eat then.
11:43You want a last couple bites of mine?
11:46Yeah, yeah.
11:48I think it's safe to say I've gotten my
11:51fill of sweets for the night.
11:54And there's not really any point in
11:56putting this little into a container.
12:00You'll take it.
12:05All right, then.
12:08Open up. There we go.
12:11So, what do you think? It's good or
12:13what?
12:15And you were laughing at me. You know,
12:19I had a good time tonight.
12:22I feel like I know you a little better
12:24now than I did before.
12:26I'm not sure if this is inappropriate or
12:28not, but would you mind if I said
12:30something?
12:34I was really glad when you invited me
12:36out for dinner tonight.
12:37Our working schedules don't really seem
12:39to line up very well.
12:41So, there hasn't been a lot of time for
12:43us to chat like that.
12:45And I really enjoyed it. But, there's
12:48something that's been on my mind all
12:50night. You're
12:52a really great person.
12:56You're a really great woman.
12:58And if I'm being honest,
13:01I've kind of wanted to get to know you
13:02better since you started taste testing.
13:06And I know that after you're done with
13:09the batter, I might not get a chance to
13:11see you again.
13:13So,
13:14I wanted to ask if maybe you wanted to,
13:17you know, go out.
13:19Get together, that sort of thing.
13:22Yeah.
13:27Like boyfriend and girlfriends.
13:30You
13:32have a confession to make.
13:35This whole thing was what?
13:38A test?
13:40What were you testing?
13:43Our affinity.
13:46Woah.
13:49Oh, dear.
13:50You are such a nerd.
13:52A gamer would say something like that.
13:56But I guess
13:57uh that, darling.
14:00That makes a minor nerd.
14:03Well, then.
14:04I'm glad I had such a cute nerd to call
14:07my girlfriend.
14:09So, does this mean you won't be upset
14:12about the whole not recruiting the
14:14farmer thing?
14:16I can't believe my biggest competition
14:19is a clumsy farmer in a game
14:22I helped make.
14:27But it's nothing I haven't handled
14:28before.
14:30I mean, it's not like I'm out here
14:31trying to defeat a demon lord.
14:35Beside, what's a little competition when
14:39what's at stake is the hand of the most
14:42radiant beautiful woman in all the
14:45lands?
