0:00all right so in examining the purpose of
0:03the lymphatic system what we do know is
0:05that the lymphatic system consists of
0:07our body's immunity our immunity is our
0:11response to pathogens and diseases so of
0:14course the stronger your immunity the
0:16better off your body is and fighting up
0:18against anything that may come In Harm's
0:21Way
0:22inflammation is going to be your first
0:25response to an infection when the body
0:28encounters a virus or a bacteria what
0:32happens is the body then develops that
0:34sense of inflammatory cells those
0:37inflammatory cells come into play trap
0:40bacteria and then start the healing
0:43process it starts to filter out whatever
0:45has been whatever has invaded your body
0:48that should not be there your body will
0:50start to filter that out through
0:51inflammation
0:53in this diagram here they use the
0:55example of a splinter and if you've ever
0:57had a splinter before what you will
0:59notice is that one of the first things
1:01your body does in reaction to that
1:04splinter is it starts to become inflamed
1:06the redness kicks in there's some
1:08discomfort but that inflammation is
1:10really trying to push out that foreign
1:13body which is the Splinter
1:15so two terms for you at the bottom there
1:17you have pathogens a bacterium or virus
1:21or other microorganism that can cause
1:23disease and then you have antigens which
1:26is a foreign substance the body does not
1:28recognize on the surface of pathogens
1:31also another defense mechanism that your
1:34body has against disease or illness is a
1:37fever yes a fever often misconstrued is
1:41something that is bad for our body our
1:43fever is really a good thing showing
1:46that your immune system is doing exactly
1:49what it needs to do remember its first
1:52line of defense is inflammation when
1:54your body becomes inflamed that actually
1:57speeds up the circulatory system the
2:00circulatory system needs to speed up in
2:02order to spread that lymph fluid that we
2:04need that has those finer cells to
2:07remove whatever is invading the body
2:09with that we can expect to see the body
2:12temperature heat up because that is also
2:15a method of your body fighting against
2:16infection
2:18so higher temperatures in the body
2:20speeds up the processing of immune cells
2:22and higher body temperatures make it
2:24harder for bacteria and viruses to
2:27thrive in the body so yes it is
2:30perfectly okay to go out and sweat out a
2:33cold just remember to make sure you're
2:35wearing a mask and protecting others
2:37that are around you
