0:18throughout the day lowering the level of
0:20sodium sweets are allowed but in
0:22moderation and then they will have their
0:25own share of caloric limitations that

0:30abide by
0:32cardiovascular disease definitely
0:34important to change dietary habits here
0:37as well our goal is to reduce the
0:40patient's cholesterol intake which will
0:42also lower their sodium
0:44necessary for them to increase fiber and
0:48then refrain from alcohol
0:51cancer patients diet should be more on
0:53the side of higher protein all adding in
0:56those vitamin supplements to supplement
0:59for what they're not getting in a
1:00typical day-to-day dietary
1:03um in a typical diet
1:06and then for cancer patients small meals
1:08frequently will be important
1:12and our last one there we have is GERD
1:14that's gastroesophageal reflux disease
1:17so with this we don't want to aggravate
1:20the esophagus any further so the patient
1:23should consist of a diet that has low
1:27fat
1:27low in spices coffee and mints can
1:31actually aggravate the situation as well
1:34as well as dairy but they should
1:37increase their fiber
1:40so with these it's going to be difficult
1:42because everybody has their own
1:44specifics in what they like to eat so
1:46this is where we can definitely refer
1:48them back to the myplate.gov website
1:51they can take these tools that they have
1:53here put them with the resources on the
1:56website and prepare a meal that suits
1:58them best eating disorders also
2:01something that we need to be aware of
2:04anorexia nervosa and bulimia
2:08anorexia nervosa is actually starvation
2:12the warning signs associated with that
2:15is going to be the patient has a fear of
2:17gaining any additional weight
2:20they exercise extensively
2:23because of the diet and the irregularity
2:26and the intake the menstrual periods
2:28maybe a regular Oris of side altogether
2:32and bulimia this is eating large amounts
2:35of food and purging which means that
2:37they're vomiting the food up
2:39warning signs for this is going to be
2:42purging buying large amounts of food and
2:44then going to the restroom mood swings
2:47may occur maybe they're using laxatives
2:49to try to rid their body of the food
2:51that they've eaten
2:53treatment for both of these conditions
2:55is very similar we need to have the
2:59patient assessed
3:01and then they'll require some assistance
3:03in learning how to eat healthy again
3:07this will be done through counseling and
3:09some Psychotherapy treatment
3:12and we can also assist our patients as
3:15well with the myplate.gov and being able
3:18to design a menu that suits them best
3:21and helps them stay within their goals
3:23or reach their goals when it comes to
3:26weight
