0:00moving on to our diseases and disorders
0:02of the urinary system you have here
0:04acute kidney or renal failure keep in
0:09mind anytime you hear acute versus
0:11chronic here they're both the same but
0:13you have acute and chronic acute is
0:16something that is sudden or onset it has
0:19happened very very quickly uh usually
0:21without warning and so acute kidney
0:24failure uh may be reversible can be
0:27caused by poisons or alcohol abuse
0:31whereas chronic kidney failure this is
0:34something that has progressed over time
0:36many many years of the kidney declining
0:39uh kidneys slowly lose ability to
0:42function this is not reversible and
0:45hypertension uh tends to be the most
0:47common cause
0:49moving down you have the term
0:50incontinence which is the inability to
0:53control urination and then two terms
0:56here both with itis cystitis and
0:59urethritis we know itis means inflation
1:01or inflammation
1:03uh cyst is the bladder ureth is urethra
1:07so these are inflammations of the
1:08bladder and the urethra there's that
1:11term I mentioned earlier UTI or urinary
1:14tract infection it is a very general
1:16term because it's referring to anything
1:19that's within the urinary tract system
1:21and again it means that any part of the
1:24urinary tract system can be infected
1:26that would be a urinary tract infection
1:30and lastly here we'll stop with this
1:33term here Reno calculi or
1:36nephrolithiasis that's referring to
1:38kidney stones kidney stones are
1:41developed through excessive calcium that
1:43develops within the renal calculi that's
1:46inside the kidney and unfortunately as
1:49it crystallizes into those stones they
1:52then go through the process just as
1:54urine wood so they're trying to make
1:56their way through the ureters to land
1:58into the bladder for excretion doesn't
2:01mean it can't happen it will happen uh
2:04it's just going to be extremely painful
2:06because you've got stones that are
2:08working their way through the system
2:10where urine is designed to go
2:12oftentimes with these patients they're
2:15put on medication to kind of assist with
2:17the pain maybe an IV to help increase
2:20the fluid output and also the last
2:24resort would be the option to go in and
2:26break up the larger size Stones so that
2:29they still pass through but a lot less
2:32painful
