Intro/Explanation

0:00What's up? I'm Troubleshoot. It's almost

0:022026 and it's been about six years since

0:05I last covered Geyser MC, which is by

0:07far the easiest way to play both using

0:10Java and Bedrock on the same server at

0:13the same time. So, you and your friends

0:15across platforms can enjoy your

0:16dedicated server with specific configs,

0:19plugins, and things like that all

0:21seamlessly. This video did fantastic and

0:24it's long overdue an upgrade since it

0:27just turned 5 years old a month ago. So,

Minecraft Server

0:30let's get straight into an updated

0:31202526 guide for Geyser MC. Of course

0:35though, for this video, you will already

0:37need a Minecraft server setup. Whether

0:40it's Paper, Spigot, Fabric, or Neoforge,

0:43basically any moddable server can be

0:46used alongside Geyser MC. Now, if you

0:48haven't already got yourself a server,

0:50then I'd highly recommend checking out

0:52this video's a sponsor, Apex Hosting.

0:54Apex Hosting are a fantastic choice for

0:56hosting game servers with unlimited

0:58slots, free subdomains, 24/7 support,

1:21your server size and in no time you

1:23should have your powerful Minecraft

1:25server ready for anything. A huge shout

1:27out to Apex Hosting for sponsoring this

Install GeyserMC Mod

1:30guide. In the description down below,

1:31you'll find a link to geysermc.org

1:34where you'll see exactly how this

1:36program works. It's basically just a

1:37translator in between Bedrock and your

1:40Java server. And I'm pretty sure you can

1:42use this to connect any Bedrock client

1:44to any other server, even without the

1:46plugin on it, though that's outside of

1:47the scope of this video. At the very top

1:49of the page, you'll see a download

1:51button. Just hit this and it'll take you

1:53across to the Geyser download page where

1:55we can download for Fabric Spigot

1:57Velocity via Standalone Neoforge or

2:00Bungee Cord. And as I'm running a Fabric

2:02server, I'll be downloading the Fabric

2:04JAR file here. Now, the place where

2:06you'll be putting this differs slightly

2:08between different servers, but

2:09essentially inside of my server folder

2:11here, there's a folder called mods,

2:13which is where I'll be placing this.

2:14Just drag it out of your downloads into

2:16this folder, and just like that, Geyser

2:18MC is installed. If you're using Spigot

2:20or something else, the folder might be

2:22called plugins, in which case, place it

2:24in there. At this point, you're likely

2:25able to start your server. However, as

2:27this is a brand new Fabric server, I

2:29will need the Fabric API as well. So,

2:31I'll download fabric API from modern for

2:34the correct version. And I'll drop this

2:36in here as well. There we go. Now, I'm

2:38able to start up my server and Geyser

Geyser Configuration Location

2:40should be working immediately. The first

2:42time you start up your server, you'll

2:43see Geysers setting itself up here. And

2:45inside of the config folder, in my case,

2:48there's now a Geyser fabric folder with

2:50a bunch of configuration files where we

2:52can customize how Geyser works. If

2:53you're inside of something like Spigot,

2:55you might see inside of the plugins

2:56folder next to the jaw file, there's a

2:58Geyser folder there. So the position

3:00varies slightly based on what you're

3:02running. For me, it's in config geyser

Allowing Bedrock players on a Java server

3:04fabric. Inside of here, you can change

3:06how Geyser works. But before we do

3:08anything, there's one major obstacle we

3:10need to cross. Obviously, a Bedrock

3:12client communicates differently to a

3:13Bedrock server than Java to Java. If a

3:16Bedrock client tries to connect to your

3:18server, it's likely not going to

3:20understand who actually owns Minecraft

3:22on that device, and you won't be able to

3:24play on the server at all. There's two

3:26ways around this. First of all, in

3:28server.properties, properties. You can

3:30change online mode from true to false,

3:32but this will allow anyone to join your

3:34server pretending to be anyone else.

3:36Instead, I'd highly recommend using the

3:38official method, which is another

3:40plug-in from the Geyser MC team called

3:42Floodgate. This allows Java servers to

3:44work with Bedrock accounts. All you need

3:46to do is head across to the download

3:48page link down below, or if you're

3:50already on the download page, just

3:52choose Floodgate at the very top. Then

3:54you'll see Spigot, Fabric, Neoforge,

3:56Velocity, and Bungee Cord. For me, I'll

3:58be downloading the fabric version here.

4:00This takes me to mod. I'll choose

4:02download. Select the correct version.

4:04There we go. For fabric and download,

4:06moving this file into the mods folder

4:08here or the plugins folder should set it

4:11up straight away. Now, all we need to do

4:13is restart our server. And once your

4:14server starts up again inside of the

Floodgate config

4:16either plugins folder or in my case, the

4:19config folder, you'll see a floodgate

4:21folder where we've got some

4:22configuration files in here. Now, this

4:24looks a little bit different. All you

4:25need to do is copy your key.pm file

4:28which appeared here. So, right click,

4:30copy, and we'll be going back a folder

4:33and placing it inside of the Geyser

4:34fabric configuration folder here next to

4:37config.yiml. Obviously, this could be

4:39called just geyser geyser forge or

4:42something like that. We're basically

4:43just copying this file from the one mod

Configuring Geyser

4:45to the other one. All you need to do now

4:46is open inside of the geyser

4:48configuration folder config.imml.

4:51Again, you can use any text editor.

4:53There's a bunch of information in this

4:54file here. Too much to go through in

4:56this video, but you can customize some

4:58important things like an MOTD for your

5:00Bedrock server and even set a server

5:02name down here. I'll say troubleshoot

5:05geyser and theotd is troubleshoot geyser

5:08server. There we go. Scrolling up

5:10towards the top of the file, you'll find

5:11a Java section here. One type of

5:14authentication bedrock players will be

5:15checked against when they're logging

5:16into your server can be floodgate online

5:19or offline. Change online to floodgate

5:22which is placed right above this. We can

5:23copy it and replace online as such. Save

5:26the file and we're done here. Now we can

5:28close this file, head back to folders

5:30and start up our server for the last

5:32time. It had some issues starting up. So

5:34I just deleted this file and started my

5:36server to recreate it. When I was typing

5:38in troubleshoots, I'm pretty sure the

5:41apostrophe was causing issues. So I'll

5:43just leave that out for now. If you do

5:45want things like apostrophes, make sure

5:46to surround the entire line in double

5:49quotes just to fix things. But there we

Connecting Java AND Bedrock players to the same server!

5:51go. We're back to where we were starting

5:52up our server again. Once it's

5:54eventually up and running, we can tab

5:56back to Minecraft where we're able to

5:57directly connect to our server. As it's

5:59running on the same PC, I can use

6:01localhost or 127.0.0.1.

6:04I'll connect to the server. And as you'd

6:06expect, things work as usual. We're back

6:08in game. However, if I tab out add into

6:12bedrock edition right here, I can head

6:13across to play followed by servers at

6:16the very top. I'll hit add server at the

6:18top and I'll give it the name

6:19troubleshoot Java. The IP address is

6:22just 127.0.0.1

6:24as it's running on the same computer

6:26that I'm hosting the server on. And the

6:28port should be the same unless we

6:29changed anything. I can add the server

6:31and right now you can see that there's

6:32one player online which is my Java

6:34client back there and looping. If I hit

6:37play, just like that, we'll load into

6:39the same server as our Java client.

6:41There we go. You can see things

6:42happening. Add. Just like that. We've

6:44logged in, keeping our name and

6:46everything. Now, it's just a matter of

6:47finding ourselves. There we are down

6:49there. Currently, the Minecraft servers

6:51are having issues as in the login

6:53servers are down. However, you can see

6:55me moving around in both Java Edition

6:57and Bedrock on the left. We can interact

7:00with each other, type in chat, etc.

7:02Everything works as you'd hope. That's

7:04it. As long as port 19132 is open and

7:07port forwarded the same way you did your

7:09actual normal server, Bedrock Edition

7:10clients can join in with all the fun, as

7:12you would hope, incredibly easily. Now,

7:15unfortunately, again, as the servers are

7:16down, you'll just have to take my word

7:18from it. Here's my video from 5 years

7:20ago where you can see my actual player

7:21skin showing as it should be on the

7:24Bedrock client, not the Java client,

Geyser commands

7:26which is great. But anyways, besides

7:28that, there's a couple of important

7:30things that you should be aware of as a

7:32server host. As long as you're OP, you

7:34can run commands. Or alternatively, you

7:36can do them in the console. Using the

7:38command geyser spacehelp or geyser

7:41spacehelp in game gives you a list of

7:43commands. We can use geyser list to show

7:46all the players connected through

7:47geyser. And you can also use geyser

7:49reload to reload the plugin and

7:51configuration if you changed anything.

7:53But this does kick all players when it's

7:55used. But that's it. At this point,

7:56you're able to have not only Java

7:58players, but also Xbox, Android,

8:01PlayStation, and whatever else you can

8:02think of joining a server using their

8:04official Bedrock clients as if they were

8:07joining a regular Bedrock server. Just a

8:09quick note, on the same Geyser MC page,

FAQ and troubleshooting problems

8:11you can head across to the wiki at the

8:13very top, followed by Geyser or

8:14Floodgate, and you'll find FAQs as well

8:17as common issues where you'll find very

8:19simple solutions to issues which you

8:21could be having for either Geyser or

8:23Floodgate. There's a ton of different

8:25problems here that should be solved

8:27really simply, including errors,

8:28connection issues, and things like that.

8:31Obviously, as well, if using a

8:32thirdparty provider like Apex Hosting to

8:34host your server, you'll just upload

8:36these mod files as we did in our own

8:38local folders, restart your server on

8:40those platforms, and they should work

8:41basically onetoone the same as this.

8:43Though, in some cases, you'll need to

8:45reach out to support to open more ports

8:47and things like that, as we need both a

8:49Java edition port and a Bedrock port.

8:52For example, on Apex hostings panel to

8:54port forward a Geyser MC and allow it

8:56through their firewall. All we need to

8:57do is head across to the additional

8:59ports page down here and we're able to

9:01enter a port number here like Geysers's

9:0419132 and give it a name like Geyser MC

9:08where after adding just like that,

9:10Bedrock players should be able to

9:11connect to our server and play as

9:13expected, assuming we set it up

9:15properly. It's that simple. Once again,

9:16a huge thank you to Apex Hosting for

9:19sponsoring this guide. Hopefully, you

9:20found it useful. It's a lot easier than

9:22it was a couple of years ago. Thank you

9:24all for watching. My trouble sheet and

9:26I'll see you all next time. Ciao.
