0:00Why does a loving God allow evil ? It is

0:03a very thought-provoking subject .

0:05Brother Ericlis Calbo from the

0:07Southwest Congregation here in Cesário

0:09will talk to us about why a loving God

0:12allows evil . I remember that about 10

0:33years ago , more or less , my family and

0:35I were watching a Sunday afternoon

0:38program , just normal , right ? And then

0:42in the commercial break it said : " Don't

0:43miss tonight on such-and-such program

0:45the question that not even the Pope

0:47knew how to answer . " We got curious ,

0:50didn't we ? Look , a question that not

0:52even the Pope could answer . What

0:53question is that ? The segment on the

0:56Sunday night show was about a mass . At

1:01that time , it was the largest mass the

1:02Pope had ever held . And there , in a

1:05speech he gave at a university , he

1:07opened up the opportunity for some

1:09people to ask questions . And a young

1:13girl , very young , quite emotional ,

1:15asked him : " Why do children suffer ? "

1:20And his answer was that this was also a

1:23question he asked himself . Why do

1:27innocent people like a child suffer ?

1:30It's interesting , isn't it ? Because

1:32suffering , why God allows suffering , is

1:36a basic truth of the Bible . It is one

1:39of the things we need to learn . Yes ,

1:41our faith is also based on this

1:43question and it involves the most

1:45important issue in the universe , which

1:47is the sanctification of Jehovah's name

1:49, the sovereignty of his name . So ,

1:53knowing the answer to this question ,

1:54why God allows suffering , is important

1:56to us . But most people here already

1:59know it , right ? Why God allows

2:01suffering . It is an answer that is

2:02already well engraved in our minds . Why

2:05is it important for us to analyze this ?

2:07Well , there is a talk on JW.org that I

2:10like a lot , it is my , I call it my

2:12bedside talk , from time to time I like

2:14to go there and review it , and the

2:16theme is an important reminder . I don't

2:19know if you remember this talk . It

2:22talks not only about why God allows

2:25suffering , but why God allows your

2:27suffering . All right , the wicked

2:30suffering , that we can understand ,

2:32right ? A person , let's suppose , smoked

2:35their whole life , they used cigarettes

2:37and after some time they contracted

2:40cancer . So , in our mind , it is possible

2:42to assimilate something . Look , this is

2:44related to what they did their whole

2:46life . I can understand that . Sometimes

2:49a person practiced evil and then they

2:51suffered the consequences of it . You

2:53can understand it , she is reaping what

2:54she sowed . But why do you suffer ? You

2:58who are there striving to do God’s

3:01will , striving to please him , why do

3:04you suffer ? If we take a look at the

3:08book of Habakkuk , you will see that

3:10this doubt is perhaps not just yours .

3:13There in the book of Habakkuk , who was

3:15a faithful servant of Jehovah in the

3:17past , he posed a very similar question

3:19to Jehovah . Please open your Bible to

3:23the book of Habakkuk , chapter 1 , verses

3:252 and 3 . Did you find it ? It’s a

3:29little bit before Matthew , you see ?

3:31Habakkuk 1 : 2 and 3 . Habakkuk said : "

3:35How long , O Jehovah , must I cry for

3:38help , but you do not hear ? How long

3:42will I cry out to you for help against

3:44violence , but you do not intervene ? Why

3:48do you make me see wickedness ? And why

3:51do you tolerate oppression ? Why are

3:53destruction and violence before me ? And

3:56why do there exist quarreling and

3:58conflict ? Notice that Habakkuk wasn't

4:02just questioning why evil exists , or

4:04why there is suffering . Habakkuk’s

4:08questioning was about himself . In verse

4:13two , how long , Jehovah , will I cry for

4:14help ? In the next part , why do you make

4:18me see wickedness ? Why is there

4:20destruction and violence before me ?

4:23It’s fine for the wicked to suffer , I

4:24understand that . But Habakkuk might

4:26have been thinking like this : " I am a

4:28faithful servant , a prophet of Jehovah .

4:30I am here working hard . Why is this

4:32kind of situation before me ? Why am I

4:35going through this ? " And this is a

4:38truth . When we go through some kind of

4:41difficulty or suffering , we start to

4:43ask ourselves : " Jehovah , why is this

4:45happening to me ? Why , after I have

4:49prayed so much ? " Uh , I even remember a

4:52situation involving a sister in a

4:53congregation we served ; she lost her

4:55mother , and while her mother was in the

4:57hospital , she prayed constantly ,

4:59kneeling by her side , right ? That she

5:02would get out of that situation , but

5:04she unfortunately ended up passing away

5:06. And this sister , afterward , she

5:08questioned this , right ? " I have been a

5:11pioneer for so many years , I serve

5:13Jehovah with such zeal , I have helped

5:15so many people learn the truth . " Why

5:18did Jehovah , in her view , in that

5:20moment of anguish , not hear her prayer ?

5:23So , why was she going through that ?

5:25This can happen to us too , right ? A

5:27health problem , issues that come with

5:30age , losing someone we love . We always

5:34think , don't we , Jehovah , why am I

5:36going through this ? And then something

5:39might start coming to mind like : " Oh ,

5:41am I failing in my study , and that's

5:43why I'm going through this situation

5:45now ? Am I falling short in my worship ?

5:49" We might question ourselves about this

5:51kind of thing , right ? So , in today's

5:53talk , it will be good to have a

5:55reminder of why Jehovah allows

5:57suffering and it will help us see why

5:59Jehovah allows our suffering . So , it is

6:03always good to have this basic truth

6:04very alive in our minds . We always

6:06remember it . Maybe you think , I already

6:09know this subject . But think about your

6:11own case , right ? When we read some

6:13scriptures here that you already know ,

6:15think about how this scripture can

6:17affect you . So , for us to be able to

6:21answer , we first need to clear up one

6:23thing here , a lie that people say and

6:25many believe , that God , in fact , is

6:26responsible for suffering , that in some

6:28way this suffering comes from Him .

6:31First John 5:19 , let's remember this

6:34scripture . It's there toward the end of

6:37the Bible , First John 5:19 . Is Jehovah

6:44controlling all things ? And as some say

6:49, if not a leaf falls from a tree

6:51without God's consent , then suffering

6:53comes from Him . But then , First John

6:565:19 gives us an important reminder . We

7:01know that we originate with God , but

7:04the whole world is lying in the power

7:06of the wicked one . Don't forget this .

7:12Sometimes we suffer because of our own

7:14actions , some wrong step we took , but

7:16sometimes we also suffer because of the

7:18actions of others , the decisions of

7:20others . A bad decision , perhaps , by a

7:23ruler , by another person , which can

7:25affect us . We can also suffer because

7:29of unforeseen occurrences , but

7:31expecting the world to improve and that

7:33things will become good enough to

7:35benefit us , that will never happen . Why

7:38? Although we know that we are children

7:41of God and come from Him , we are

7:43serving Him , the world is in the power

7:44of the wicked one . This is a truth that

7:47we cannot forget . Another one is there

7:50in the book of James , chapter 1 , verse

7:5213 , right after Hebrews . James 1:13 .

8:02Did you find it ? When under trial , let

8:06no one say : " I am being tried by God . "

8:09For with evil things , God cannot be

8:13tested , nor does he test anyone . All

8:19right , I know that too , but perhaps you

8:21might think : " Look , this difficulty I'm

8:24going through is surely Jehovah testing

8:26me to see how much I can endure . " That

8:29thought might cross our minds . Oh , this

8:32trial is because Jehovah wants to teach

8:34me something . I don't know it yet , but

8:36I'll learn it further down the road .

8:38However , the text provides a very

8:40interesting reminder . If you are

8:43experiencing bad things , such as an

8:46illness , the loss of someone you love ,

8:49problems due to age , or someone in your

8:52family suffering , Jehovah is not doing

8:55this to teach you a lesson . It is not

8:59Jehovah who is causing this suffering .

9:02Did Jehovah really take that person

9:04from you or leave you with this illness

9:06now so you can learn to wait more or

9:09trust more ? Jehovah does not do that .

9:12Jehovah does not cause our suffering .

9:15We can certainly learn from the various

9:17situations we go through . And Jehovah

9:19helps us to always draw a positive

9:21lesson , even in the face of difficulty ,

9:23but that difficulty does not come from

9:25Jehovah . Remember , as we just saw , the

9:28world is in the power of the wicked one

9:30. You can attribute these bad things to

9:33him , you see . And to our own

9:36imperfection . Evil was not always on

9:39the earth . When Jehovah created

9:43humanity , at Genesis 1:31 , at the end

9:44of creation , Jehovah said everything he

9:46had made was very good . So , there was

9:50no imperfection , no sin , and nothing

9:53harming humanity . Evil , in fact ,

9:57entered the world when a perfect spirit

10:00creature , serving God , developed a

10:02wrong desire . The desire to have what

10:07only God could have — worship and the

10:09right to decide things on his own ,

10:11without needing God’s guidance . This

10:16very wrong idea spread to other angels .

10:21And here on Earth , the first human

10:23couple , Adam and Eve , who were perfect ,

10:25were also affected by this same

10:27thinking . Now think for a moment : How

10:32could a perfect couple living in a

10:34paradise under God's guidance , with

10:37everything good — the best of

10:39everything they could ever need — that

10:42Jehovah provided , and with many more

10:44things to come during eternal life ...

10:46The idea was for them to continue

10:49evolving and progressing to make use of

10:51everything on the Earth . How did Satan

10:56manage to convince that couple that

10:59abandoning all of that was better ? How

11:03did he manage to put that into the

11:05minds of that perfect couple who served

11:08God ? Was living in a paradise and

11:10having the very best of everything not

11:12enough ? Let’s see . Please open your

11:15Bibles to the book of Genesis , chapter

11:173 . And you will see that this tactic

11:23Satan used still works today . It was a

11:28very effective tactic , but

11:29unfortunately , it brought terrible

11:32consequences for humanity . Just look at

11:34how cunning Satan is , right ? Genesis

11:37chapter 3 , verse 1 , says : " Now the

11:40serpent , which in this case was Satan

11:43the Devil disguised as a serpent , was

11:46the most cautious of all the wild

11:49animals that Jehovah God had made . " So

11:52it said to the woman : " Did God really

11:56say ? That you must not eat from every

12:00tree of the garden ? " A simple question ,

12:03right ? Eve , I have a doubt . I heard

12:07some talk about this . Did God really

12:10say that you cannot eat from every tree

12:12of the garden ? It seems like a very

12:14simple question , doesn't it ? Some

12:17questions can be like an iceberg . Do

12:19you know what an iceberg is ? A giant

12:22piece of ice . There are many at the

12:24poles , right ? But a large part of it is

12:26hidden underwater . We can only see the

12:29tip . Behind this question , what could

12:33Eve have thought , and what was Satan

12:35proposing to her ? Eve , you are a

12:38perfect , beautiful woman ; you have the

12:42very best of everything . God put you

12:46here in this garden with everything at

12:48your disposal . You can do whatever you

12:51want , but now God is going to keep

12:53telling you what you can and cannot do ?

12:57What he is really saying with that

12:58question is just that . God put you here

13:01, and now he is going to restrict what

13:03you can eat and tell you what you can

13:05decide . Where is your freedom ? You

13:09cannot be free ; you cannot do what you

13:11want ; you have to follow his

13:12instructions . This question is saying

13:16exactly that . Did God really say that

13:17you cannot eat from every tree of the

13:19garden ? Eve , who was still an innocent

13:22creature and had just been created , did

13:24not understand what was behind that

13:26question . So much so that her answer

13:28shows she didn't grasp it . She answered

13:31in a very simple way . Verse 2 and

13:33following . So the woman said to the

13:36serpent : " We can eat of the fruit of

13:37the trees of the garden . " But about the

13:41fruit of the tree that is in the middle

13:43of the garden , God said : " You shall not

13:45eat of it , nor shall you touch it , or

13:47else you will die . " Then the serpent

13:50said to the woman : " You will certainly

13:53not die , for God knows that on the very

13:56day you eat of it , your eyes will be

13:59opened and you will be like God ,

14:01knowing what is good and what is bad . "

14:04Then verse 6 . So , the woman saw that

14:08the tree was good for food and that it

14:10was desirable to the eyes . Yes , the

14:13tree was pleasant to behold . So she

14:15took some of its fruit and began to eat

14:18it . Later , she also gave some of the

14:20fruit to her husband when he was with

14:22her , and he began to eat it . Terrible .

14:26They followed the idea that Satan

14:29proposed to them in a simple

14:32conversation ; a simple question made

14:35Eve abandon everything she knew ,

14:38abandon everything she had . Because

14:42that question planted an idea inside

14:43her mind . She could now be independent

14:46of God . Satan delivered the final blow

14:50when he said that if she ate , she would

14:52be like God , knowing what is good and

14:54what is bad . Or , in the big picture , he

14:58was saying this to her , Eve : " Eat of

15:00the fruit , and from that moment on , no

15:02one will ever tell you what you can or

15:04cannot do again . You are the one who

15:07decides . What is good , what is bad , you

15:09will define . There is no one else

15:11giving you rules , saying what you can

15:12eat , what you can't , where you can go ,

15:14where you can't . You will be free . You

15:17will have a truly happy life now , free

15:19from everything . Eve accepted this idea

15:23. Ah , the biblical account says that

15:26Eve was completely deceived . Then

15:29someone might think like this : " Poor

15:31Eve , totally deceived . She had no

15:33choice , she was deceived . But think ,

15:36think about the following , look . There

15:38is a tree that is very beautiful , with

15:40a very beautiful fruit , only you don't

15:42know it . It's the first time you're

15:44seeing it . And then a very close friend

15:47, someone who knows the region , tells

15:48you : " Look , see that fruit there ? It's

15:51poisonous . " Some time ago , some

15:53unsuspecting people ate it and ended up

15:57dying . That fruit is poison . It is very

16:00poisonous , even though it's beautiful ,

16:02you cannot eat it . Then you keep

16:05looking at that tree , just like Eve did

16:06there , right ? It says it was pleasant

16:08to the eyes . You keep looking at it and

16:10thinking , look at that beautiful fruit ,

16:11I'm going to take it to try . And you

16:14take it , you eat the fruit . Can you say

16:18you ate it because you were deceived ?

16:21Did anyone warn you ? Imagine Eve taking

16:24the fruit and perhaps thinking : " Well ,

16:26should I eat it or not ? If I eat it , I

16:30will be independent from God . But it

16:32was also said that I might die . But

16:34what now ? Eve , in fact , made a choice .

16:38She chose to eat the fruit . She was not

16:40forced . Satan posed a question , she

16:42accepted that idea , and she ate . In

16:46what sense was she deceived ? Well , she

16:48was deceived because what she expected

16:50after eating the fruit was that she

16:53would truly be like God . In that sense ,

16:56she was completely deceived . She

16:59believed a story that was a lie , and

17:01after eating the fruit , she saw that

17:03nothing of what Satan had said was true

17:05. They soon realized they were naked ,

17:09began to feel ashamed , hid from God ,

17:11were expelled from Eden , grew old , died

17:13, and brought suffering upon all

17:15mankind . She was deceived by believing

17:18in an idea that was false . She did not

17:21end up with all that glory she imagined

17:24it would be . Jehovah already knew that

17:27humans would suffer greatly because of

17:29this . Later , Jehovah stated all the bad

17:32things that would happen to them . There

17:34in chapter 3 , verses 16 to 19 , Jehovah

17:37spoke of the terrible things that would

17:39happen to mankind . But this first

17:43couple , Satan , and those angels , they

17:46made a choice . They wanted to be

17:49independent from God . They were

17:52claiming that living without God's

17:54guidance was much better than living

17:56under his guidance . Jehovah , as a very

18:01wise God , possesses his four main

18:03qualities : love , wisdom , justice , and

18:05power . So , Jehovah needed to balance

18:09these four main qualities in the

18:11decision he would make . It might

18:14perhaps be loving for Jehovah to say : "

18:17Look , I will forgive you . You are still

18:20very innocent . I just created you ,

18:23right ? It could be a reflection of

18:25Jehovah's love to forgive them , but

18:26that would not be just . Because who was

18:30it that chose to be independent ? It was

18:32them . Jehovah would not be acting

18:34justly by going completely against the

18:36decision they made . Jehovah could have

18:40simply ignored that situation , but that

18:42would not be wise on Jehovah's part

18:44either . Do you see how difficult a

18:46situation it was ? So , what did Jehovah

18:48do ? He decided to let mankind live

18:51according to the desire they chose back

18:54in Eden to be independent from God .

18:58Today , 6,000 years have already passed

19:00since that happened . More or less about

19:036,000 years . And humanity continues to

19:05make the same choice . There are people

19:09here in the congregation — and when I

19:12say in the congregation as a whole ,

19:15serving Jehovah around the world , in

19:17all congregations — who are living in a

19:20spiritual paradise , living within the

19:23organization that teaches the truth

19:25about Jehovah and how to lead a truly

19:28happy life . This is based on what the

19:32Bible says . But at some point , whether

19:36that person has been serving Jehovah

19:38for many years or has just started

19:40serving Jehovah now , at some point ,

19:42someone or some idea enters their mind

19:44as a question . Is that really what God

19:47said ? That you can't do anything in

19:50this religion you're in ? You are

19:53following the Bible , but it says there

19:54that you cannot practice immorality . So

19:56you don't have the freedom to decide .

19:58You have to follow what is in the Bible

20:00. It says there you cannot kill , so you

20:02don't have freedom , you have to follow

20:04what's in the Bible . That idea

20:06sometimes infiltrates the mind and the

20:08person starts thinking : " Yes , really ,

20:10look , I'm here inside the organization ,

20:11I have everything , it's a paradise here

20:13, there's no better place for me to be .

20:15" But the person doesn't feel free and

20:17starts thinking like this : " Ah , I

20:20wanted to do what it says here I cannot

20:23do . " The same idea that Eve had . It

20:26didn't even make sense for her to

20:27abandon all that is good to support

20:29everything that is bad now . But

20:32sometimes this idea can enter the mind

20:34through something simple , a doubt , a

20:36question . Satan managed to deceive Eve ,

20:40a perfect creature , in a short

20:41conversation . So , be very careful ,

20:47brothers , because this type of thinking

20:50that we are not free is what caused

20:52Satan , a perfect , powerful angel ,

20:55thousands of other angels , and the

20:58first perfect couple to abandon Jehovah

21:01. Jehovah has therefore allowed

21:04humanity to go through much suffering

21:06since then . And Jehovah only allows

21:10this to happen because , since humanity

21:11is imperfect , they are repeatedly

21:13reaping the fruits of what they have

21:15committed . Sometimes someone might

21:18think like this : " It's not fair for me

21:19to pay for Adam and Eve's mistake . " "

21:21They sinned back then and I have to pay

21:23, I'm the one who has to suffer today .

21:26" But if we think a little , how many

21:29mistakes have you made in the last 10

21:31years or how many mistakes have you

21:37made today alone ? Perhaps in thought ,

21:40in some word , or in action . So , if

21:44Jehovah decided today to bring

21:46punishment for your mistakes , would you

21:48be paying for yours or for Adam and

21:50Eve's ? Therefore , because we are

21:53imperfect , we make mistakes constantly .

21:57Jehovah , when Habakkuk raised that

21:59question , let's go back to the book of

22:01Habakkuk to see the answer Jehovah gave

22:03to reassure him , because he was

22:04thinking , " Jehovah , why am I going

22:06through all of this ? " But there in the

22:10book of Habakkuk , chapter 2 , verses 2

22:13and 3 , Jehovah , to reassure him , said

22:16this . Then Jehovah answered me , have

22:20you found Habakkuk 2 : 2 and 3 ? Write

22:24down the vision , and inscribe it

22:26clearly on tablets , so that the one

22:29reading it aloud may do so easily . For

22:32the vision is yet for its appointed

22:35time . It is rushing toward its end , and

22:38it will not lie . Even if it should

22:42delay , keep in expectation of it ! For

22:44it will without fail come true . It will

22:47not be late . Jehovah assured Habakkuk

22:51that He was not only aware of

22:53everything that was happening , but that

22:55Jehovah had a plan to bring all that

22:58suffering , everything Habakkuk was

23:00seeing , to an end . But Jehovah told him

23:05that he needed to be patient , to record

23:07it , and to keep in expectation , because

23:09it would without fail come true .

23:13Habakkuk died and perhaps didn't fully

23:15see it , right ? He may have seen a

23:19little bit during his lifetime , but by

23:22being patient , as Jehovah showed here

23:24to Habakkuk , Jehovah was able during

23:27this time to separate a great people

23:29who will be able to survive the end of

23:32this system . If perhaps Jehovah had

23:37already brought the end a little

23:39earlier , 10 years ago , we are in 2026 ,

23:42so 2016 , right ? So , how many people

23:46learned about Jehovah during the

23:48pandemic ? So , if Jehovah had brought

23:51the end much earlier , perhaps these

23:54people would not have had the same

23:56opportunity . Jehovah knows the heart of

24:00all , but this opportunity to show the

24:02decision they made to learn about

24:04Jehovah would not have been possible .

24:08Or even in your case , how long ago — if

24:10the end had come , you wouldn't be here .

24:14So , thinking about this patience of

24:16Jehovah helps us , because Jehovah , by

24:18being patient , is making it possible

24:20for more people to learn about Him and

24:23make the decision to want to serve

24:25Jehovah . These people , Jehovah's people

24:29, they understand that they are not

24:31restricted by what they can and cannot

24:33do , but they understand that living by

24:36the Bible is best for them . And it's

24:39not just Jehovah's people . Many here

24:41participate in the preaching work . When

24:44you go from house to house , you ask the

24:45person : " Do you have a Bible at home ? "

24:47" Yes , I do have a Bible at home . " Do

24:50you believe that if people live

24:51according to what is in the Bible , they

24:54will be happier or will they suffer ?

24:56What will the person answer ? Happy .

25:00Everyone answers that . I believe they

25:01will be happy . Do you believe that what

25:03is here in the Bible is for our own

25:04good ? Will it be good for us ? I believe

25:07so . People believe so , because what is

25:09here in the Bible really is for our own

25:11good . When Jehovah asks us to learn

25:14about him , to draw close to him , and

25:16Jehovah gives us instruction , he is not

25:19trying to restrict us . Jehovah is not

25:21trying to deprive us of our freedom . He

25:23wants what is best for us . And Jehovah

25:26has already shown this truth through

25:28all of us here . Today , the life that

25:32Jehovah's servants lead , despite the

25:34suffering that exists in the world , is

25:35much better than the life of those who

25:37do not serve Jehovah . Because you have ,

25:40as the opening song mentioned , hope

25:41that comes from Jehovah . This hope

25:44gives you the courage to continue

25:46persevering . When we lose someone we

25:48love , the pain of losing someone is as

25:51if you were dying along with them . The

25:54desire often is just that , for you to

25:56die too . But why do you continue

25:59persevering ? Why don't you give up on

26:01everything ? Because the Bible gives you

26:03a hope that continues to give you

26:04courage . So , living under Jehovah's

26:08guidance is the best thing we can do .

26:11There is nothing out in the world that

26:13will make you happy . So , why does

26:16Jehovah allow suffering ? Jehovah is

26:20resolving an issue that arose back in

26:22Eden . This issue is the most important

26:26thing on earth , because in Matthew ,

26:28Jesus in the Lord's Prayer said that

26:30the first thing we have to think about

26:32is the sanctification of Jehovah's name

26:34. So , Jehovah will sanctify his name .

26:39This is the most important issue .

26:40Jehovah is resolving this issue .

26:43Because for many human beings , even

26:45today , living without Jehovah is the

26:47best way of life . And when they go out

26:50into the world , they are like Eve ,

26:52totally deceived . They realize it is

26:54not really like that , that they end up

26:56suffering a lot . And thanks to Jehovah ,

26:58his help , uh , many of these people who

27:00distance themselves from the

27:02organization return . They realize the

27:04mistake they made by distancing

27:06themselves from Jehovah . Well , this

27:08attitude of Habakkuk helped him a lot .

27:10If you can go back to the book of

27:12Habakkuk , Habakkuk chapter 3 , after

27:18Jehovah gave him guidance , look , keep

27:21in expectation , I have a plan for

27:23humanity , even if you suffer now , stay

27:26firm , Habakkuk . Look at the book of

27:30Habakkuk chapter 3 , verses 16 to 18 .

27:34Notice Habakkuk’s attitude after

27:35hearing this from Jehovah . I heard , and

27:39my stomach churned . At the sound , my

27:43lips quivered . Rot entered my bones . My

27:48legs trembled , but I will wait quietly

27:50for the day of distress , for it is

27:53coming against those who attack us . You

27:57see , let's analyze this verse a little ,

28:00right ? Habakkuk said his legs trembled ,

28:05that rot entered his bones , and he

28:08shook at the sound . So , sometimes it

28:13may be that our legs might shake a

28:16little . You have been serving Jehovah

28:18for many , many years . We want to be

28:20upright before Jehovah . David was an

28:22upright person . Jehovah described him

28:25as such , but at some point , his legs

28:27trembled too . So , it may be that at

28:30some point this worry , this doubt ,

28:32these questions about suffering come to

28:34mind . But Habakkuk said he would

28:37continue to wait quietly for the day of

28:39distress , because he knows that this

28:41day will not come against him , but

28:43against those who attack him . And then

28:46in verses 17 and 18 , the attitude he

28:49chose to have . Even if the fig tree

28:52does not blossom and there is no fruit

28:55on the vines , even if the olive crop

28:58fails and the fields produce no food ,

29:01even if the flocks disappear from the

29:03pen and there are no cattle in the

29:06stalls . So , even if everything goes

29:09wrong , even if I have nothing left to

29:12eat , nothing to provide my sustenance ,

29:14even if all my plans fail , what is the

29:16attitude he wanted to have ? Verse 19 .

29:21Yet , I will exult in Jehovah . I will

29:25rejoice in the God of my salvation .

29:30Habakkuk knew that even if difficulties

29:32increased — and make no mistake ,

29:34difficulties will increase . In the time

29:37of the end , the Bible already says this

29:39will happen . But even so , his attitude

29:42was : " If Jehovah said I need to wait ,

29:44if Jehovah said He has a plan , I will

29:46trust in Jehovah . " I will continue to

29:49rejoice in the God who is my salvation .

29:51He knew that salvation would come from

29:53there . And that is our salvation . The

29:56last text we will read from Revelation

29:58talks about this . Revelation 21 . Let's

30:04see if you can find it there .

30:07Revelation 21 , verse 4 . So , if at some

30:13point , whether now or maybe later on ,

30:16you go through a difficulty , a

30:18suffering , and doubts come to your mind

30:20, " Jehovah , why am I going through this

30:23? " Why are these things before me ? Why

30:26is this happening to me ? " Ah , Jehovah

30:28is testing me . " Jehovah is not testing

30:30you . The Bible has already spoken , you

30:32see ? " Oh , this here is something that

30:34comes from God . " No , it is not . The

30:36world is in the power of the wicked one

30:37. But in the face of suffering ,

30:40remember this scripture . You often read

30:42it to others , but think about your own

30:44case . Revelation 21 : 4 . He will wipe

30:50what ? From your eyes every tear . And

30:56there will be no more death , nor will

30:58there be mourning , nor crying , nor pain

30:59anymore . The former things have passed

31:03away . So , at that moment , remember ,

31:07Jehovah is attentive to you , his

31:08faithful servant . He will wipe them

31:10from your eyes . And the guarantee he

31:13gave to Habakkuk , " Habakkuk , wait , I

31:15have a plan , it will work out . " It is

31:17there in verse 5 for you as well . The

31:21One seated on the throne said : " Look ! I

31:24am making all things new . " He also said

31:28: " Write , for these words are faithful

31:31and true . " The same thing he told

31:34Habakkuk . Jehovah is telling you ; it is

31:36enough for us now to have the same

31:38attitude as Habakkuk . I will continue

31:41waiting on Jehovah . I know that Jehovah

31:44is the God of my salvation . In summary ,

31:46we saw then that suffering has existed

31:48since the garden of Eden because of an

31:50issue that arose there . And Adam and

31:54Eve made a very bad decision because of

31:56a foolish thing . They could have

31:59ignored that idea from Satan . So , do

32:01not make a bad decision , thinking that

32:04the world will be better . That will

32:06never happen . And we saw that Jehovah

32:09has a plan and he gives a guarantee

32:11that he will act . Soon all of us here

32:14will have a real life . The true life

32:17that Eve wanted , a life totally free ,

32:20but this time it will be a life free

32:23from all suffering and all wickedness .

32:44Why does a loving God allow wickedness ?

32:47That was the theme that brother Ericlis

32:49delivered to us . Thank you , Ericlis ,

32:51for helping us and reinforcing our

32:54confidence in Jehovah’s goodness and

32:56love for us . Now we will have the

32:59Watchtower study . Brother Pedro will

33:02help us by conducting the study with

33:04the theme " Help Others to Know Jehovah .

33:06" So , without a doubt , this song

33:12expresses our desire and our request

33:15very well , that Jehovah help the new

33:17ones to remain faithful . But for that ,

33:22they need to know Jehovah well , not

33:25just have a superficial knowledge . So ,

33:28that is what we are going to cover in

33:30today's study . How can we help new ones

33:34to know Jehovah ? That is the theme of

33:37the article , help others to know

33:39Jehovah . And why is this so important ?

33:43Because their lives depend on it . Based

33:46on John 17 : 3 , uh , Jesus said : " This

33:51means everlasting life , their coming to

33:54know you , the only true God . " So , one

33:58needs to know Jehovah to gain his

34:00protection and everlasting life . Well ,

34:06everyone is invited to comment and

34:08express themselves , those present here

34:10as well as those connected with us via

34:12Zoom . And we will begin by reading the

34:17opening paragraph . Brother Paulo , how

34:28do you feel when a Bible student

34:31attends a meeting for the first time ,

34:34starts to comment , tells others about

34:37their faith , and in time decides to get

34:40baptized ? Without a doubt , you feel

34:45very happy . But of course , Jehovah

34:50deserves all the credit and praise when

34:53a Bible student makes progress , since

34:55he is the one who helps someone grow

34:58spiritually .

35:03>> Uh , how do you feel when someone , uh ,

35:06when you see a Bible student making

35:08progress ? How do we feel , uh , when this

35:12happens ? Sister Celina here in the

35:15front . We feel very happy , don't we ?

35:29Anyone who has experienced this knows

35:32what that feeling is like , right ? But ,

35:36uh , all honor and all praise go to

35:38Jehovah , because he is the one who

35:39draws them , he is the one who helps the

35:42person progress .

35:44>> That's true . That is our way of viewing

35:48it . Let's move to paragraph two .

35:53Jehovah desires all sorts of people to

35:56be saved and to come to an accurate

35:59knowledge of truth . Jehovah wants

36:04people to know as much as possible

36:06about him and his purposes . That is

36:10what it means to have an accurate

36:12knowledge . original language . The word

36:17translated as accurate knowledge does

36:19not just refer to a set of facts . The

36:25study , a Bible scholar says it refers

36:28to knowledge that has a profound effect

36:31on a person . When a Bible student knows

36:36Jehovah well , he feels motivated to

36:39make changes in his life , and this

36:42opens the way for him to have the hope

36:45of everlasting life . Let's read First

36:51Timothy 2 : 3 and 4 . Uh , the brother is ,

37:00is Newton . No , no . Oh , sorry , I didn't

37:04see that correctly . It's the sister

37:06there in the corner . This is good and

37:13acceptable in the sight of our Savior ,

37:16God . who desires all sorts of people to

37:21be saved and come to an accurate

37:23knowledge of truth .

37:27>> Thank you very much , sister . Uh , what

37:29does Jehovah desire for Bible students ?

37:34What does Jehovah want for them ? Sister

37:39Diane . So , the verse here in Timothy

37:49said that he desires for all people to

37:51have accurate knowledge , right ? So , to

37:54know everything about Jehovah , not just

37:57, not just the facts , right , but in

37:59general , what his qualities are , how

38:01Jehovah feels . And when a student is

38:05able to know Jehovah deeply , they are

38:07able to make the necessary changes in

38:09life . Exactly . That is what Jehovah

38:15desires for each one of us . Brother Adi

38:18.

38:22>> And also in Jeremiah 9:24 it conveys

38:26very well Jehovah's feelings and the

38:29joy he has , right ? That when a person

38:32takes pride in having understanding and

38:35knowledge about him , about his precious

38:38qualities , right ? But as the Watchtower

38:43highlights , obtaining this knowledge is

38:45not something superficial , but rather

38:47something that has a profound effect ,

38:49as this Bible scholar comments . So , it

38:53is in this way that a student begins to

38:55please Jehovah . Exactly . Knowledge that

38:59goes deep . Uh , brother Nivaldo , as we

39:08saw a little while ago in a talk , right

39:12, that they asked the Pope a question

39:18and he does not have accurate knowledge

39:20. He doesn't know , he doesn't know how

39:25to answer why a child gets sick and

39:28dies , right ? So he doesn't have

39:32accurate knowledge .

39:35>> That's true . Superficial . Very

39:38superficial . Brother João . So , as it

39:52says , right , John 17 : 3 , right , for a

39:54person to have this accurate knowledge ,

39:56right , they have to learn the truth ,

39:58right , and thus do Jehovah's will . Then

40:02they will have a future eternal life ,

40:03right , with this accurate knowledge and

40:05by practicing this knowledge . Indeed .

40:09>> It is a true reward . Let's go to three .

40:15>> Jehovah gives us the privilege of

40:17helping others to know him . In this

40:21study , we will consider the following

40:24questions . Why do Bible students need

40:28to know Jehovah well ? How can we help

40:34them to know his personality , and how

40:37can we teach them to use what they have

40:40learned about Jehovah ?

40:44>> What will we consider in this study ?

40:47What is a preview of what we will

40:50consider ? Sister Maria .

40:57>> Bible . Why the Bible student needs to

41:00know Jehovah well . How can we help him

41:03to know His personality and how can we

41:06teach him to use what he has already

41:08learned about Jehovah ?

41:11>> Very good . And let's move on to the

41:13first , uh , question . Help your student

41:17to know Jehovah well . Jesus taught that

41:24the greatest commandment is to love

41:26Jehovah with your whole heart , soul ,

41:28mind , and strength . For a Bible student

41:33to love Jehovah , he first needs to know

41:36Him . We want our student to dedicate

41:40himself . We want our student to

41:45dedicate himself not to us , nor to a

41:48set of teachings or an organization ,

41:51but to Jehovah . That is why our main

41:57goal when conducting a study is to help

42:00the student to know and love Jehovah .

42:06>> Uh , let's read Mark 12:30 . Brother

42:09Paulo ,

42:13>> love Jehovah your God with all your

42:15heart , with all your soul , with all

42:17your mind , and with all your strength .

42:22>> Thank you very much . And according to

42:25Mark 12:30 , what is our main goal when

42:29conducting a Bible study ? What is the

42:32main goal ? Arão .

42:37>> The last sentence . To know and love .

42:53>> Very good . To know and love Jehovah .

42:56Excellent . That is what we want him to

42:59achieve . Anderson , here in the front .

43:09>> This is very important , isn't it ? When

43:11we conduct a Bible study and the

43:13student starts to progress , it is

43:15natural for him to become attached to

43:17us , right ? Because we are there

43:19conducting the study , a friendship

43:21develops , and that is natural , it's

43:22healthy , right ? But if the student , as

43:26the paragraph said , dedicates himself

43:28to us , so to speak , when a difficulty

43:31arises , he will not keep his structure

43:34firm , will he ? He will collapse . Now ,

43:37if his foundation is in Jehovah ,

43:39regardless of the storms of life , he

43:41will remain attached to Jehovah ,

43:43because his faith does not depend on

43:46others , but his foundation is in

43:48Jehovah . That is true . Uh , Brother

43:56Alberto . And knowing Jehovah involves

44:02more than just knowing who He is or

44:05knowing His name , right ? Knowing

44:09Jehovah includes knowing what He likes ,

44:11what He does not like , what His values

44:13are , what His principles are . So , when

44:16a student manages to know Jehovah in

44:19this way , then he will develop faith

44:21and will act in harmony with Jehovah's

44:24standards .

44:26>> Exactly . To know Him deeply . Giordano .

44:32>> When Jesus Christ answered that

44:34question from the Pharisee , Jesus

44:36Christ could have said : " Obey Jehovah .

44:39" That is the first commandment . But he

44:41said : " Love Jehovah . " Because to obey

44:44does not necessarily require knowing .

44:47We obey laws without knowing the

44:50authorities . But to obey from the heart

44:54with love , one must know . That is why

44:58it is important to love Jehovah .

45:01>> That's true . Let's go to five .

45:06>> There is a relationship between loving

45:09and obeying . When a Bible student knows

45:13and loves Jehovah , he feels motivated

45:16to obey him . Jesus said : " So that the

45:20world may know that I love the Father ,

45:23I am doing just as the Father has

45:25commanded me to do . " So , just like

45:29Jesus , a Bible student — really , a

45:32Bible student who truly loves Jehovah

45:36— will want to obey and remain loyal

45:39to him .

45:42>> What will love for Jehovah motivate

45:44your Bible student to do ? What does

45:48love for Jehovah ... ? Ah , gosh ,

46:01Valentina .

46:03>> When the Bible student knows and loves

46:06Jehovah , he feels motivated to obey him

46:08.

46:09>> Very good . So he won't give up ; he will

46:15continue , Ryane . So that's right , isn't

46:24it ? When the student loves Jehovah , the

46:26desire to obey becomes an expression of

46:28that love he already feels for Jehovah .

46:32And Jesus set an excellent example ,

46:34right , in this regard , because it was

46:36the love he felt for his Father that

46:38motivated him to do His will . So , the

46:41same thing happens with our students ,

46:42right ? The more he loves Jehovah , the

46:45more he will feel the desire to obey

46:47him and remain loyal .

46:50>> Yeah , so one thing leads to another .

46:54Paragraph six . When a Bible student

47:00knows Jehovah well , he is more likely

47:03to make wise decisions in life . Think ,

47:07for example , of an airplane pilot . To

47:10learn to fly , it is not enough to

47:13simply study aviation rules or take a

47:17test . A pilot needs many hours of

47:21practice to gain experience . This way ,

47:26he learns to fly in various , different

47:29situations and to make decisions during

47:32the flight that result in a safe flight

47:34. In the same way , a Bible student

47:40knows Jehovah not only through study ,

47:44but also by seeing the results of

47:48making decisions based on Bible

47:51principles . As his knowledge of Jehovah

47:57increases and he perceives how Jehovah

48:00blesses him , he will be able to make

48:03good decisions in any situation .

48:10>> As your student gets to know Jehovah

48:12better , what will he be able to do ?

48:15Brother Luiz ,

48:22>> well , he will be able to do what was

48:26actually highlighted there in that talk

48:29today , that the priest didn't know

48:32anything about that child , right ? And

48:38here it shows the following , when a

48:41Bible student also knows and loves

48:45Jehovah , in this case , he feels

48:48motivated . Motivated to do what ?

48:54Motivated , uh , to obey Jehovah . And he

49:01said , so that the world may know that I

49:05love the Father , and I do just as the

49:09Father has commanded me .

49:13>> Thank you very much . Ah , sister

49:16Bárbara .

49:20>> And the paragraph cited the example of

49:22a pilot . For him to be able to fly the

49:24plane , he cannot simply study the rules

49:26and take a test . He needs hours of

49:29practice to gain experience . So , in the

49:32same way , the Bible student , he gets to

49:34know Jehovah not only by studying the

49:36Bible , knowing His name and His

49:37qualities , but he sees the results of

49:39making decisions based on principles ,

49:40and then he will realize how Jehovah

49:42blesses him and be able to make a

49:44decision in any situation .

49:48>> That's true . So , he needs to put into

49:50practice what he learns . Uh , let's go

49:53to seven . Knowing Jehovah well helped

49:59Joseph when Potiphar's wife tried to

50:01seduce him . Certainly , since he was a

50:05child , Joseph learned the stories of

50:08Adam and Eve and of Abraham and Sarah .

50:12Based on these stories , Joseph was able

50:16to perceive how Jehovah views sexual

50:19relations . Joseph knew Jehovah so well

50:24that he did not give in when he was

50:27harassed by Potiphar's wife . He said to

50:31her : " How could I commit this great

50:34wickedness and actually sin against God

50:38? " Joseph understood what was right in

50:43Jehovah's eyes and what was not . He

50:47knew what could hurt Jehovah , and that

50:50helped him to make the right decision .

50:55In the same way , if we study , if we

50:58help our Bible students to know

51:01Jehovah's personality well , they will

51:04be able to make decisions that please

51:08Him .

51:10>> What helped Joseph to make a good

51:13decision ? What was it that helped him

51:17on that occasion ? Marina .

51:23>> So , Joseph , he knew Jehovah very well ,

51:25right , and also the stories of his

51:27ancestors , like the story of Abraham

51:28and the story of Sarah . So he must have

51:31meditated on these stories and realized

51:34how Jehovah views marriage . And if he

51:36gave in to Potiphar's wife , he would

51:38hurt Jehovah .

51:41>> That's true . Luciana ,

51:50>> this helps us understand that it is

51:52very important to help the student know

51:54Jehovah's personality , because there

51:56will be situations like Joseph's , where

51:58the student will be alone and will need

52:00to make some important decision . How

52:03much he knows Jehovah will help him .

52:06>> That's true . He knew Jehovah well ,

52:10didn't he ? Ágata . And in this account

52:23of Joseph , what I find most impressive

52:25is that there was no clear command on

52:27this subject , " do not commit adultery ,

52:29" but he meditated on Jehovah's

52:31personality . He observed how Jehovah

52:34acted , how Jehovah acted in creation

52:36from the beginning , even with the

52:38animals , the first man , the first woman

52:40; as he meditated on this , he was able

52:42to make a good decision . So , nowadays ,

52:45even if we don't have a clear command

52:47in the Bible , it is good for us to

52:48meditate on Jehovah's personality , on

52:50how Jehovah acts . That is how we can

52:52make good decisions . Exactly . Uh , so ,

53:05and it is a good example for us . So ,

53:07let's move on to the next topic . Uh ,

53:11how can we help the student to know

53:14Jehovah's personality ? But how can you

53:22teach your Bible student about

53:24Jehovah's personality ? Jehovah helped

53:30Job to learn more about him by asking

53:34questions , and there were many , well

53:37over 50 . We can also ask questions . In

53:43the " Enjoy Life Forever ! " book , we find

53:46several questions that help the student

53:49to learn more and more about Jehovah's

53:52personality . So , use these questions to

53:56help your student get to know Jehovah

53:59well . How can you use the " Enjoy Life

54:05Forever ! " book to help a Bible student

54:08get to know Jehovah ? We even have a

54:12chart here with several questions that

54:14the book asks . Sister Débora . Well , we

54:22can help the student understand what

54:24Jehovah's will and personality are by

54:26asking questions that connect the

54:28person , in this case the student , to

54:30Jehovah himself . So , these are

54:33questions that make the student

54:35evaluate what kind of relationship they

54:37should have with Jehovah to make the

54:39right decision . And the chart here will

54:41indicate to us what some of those

54:43questions are .

54:45>> Exactly . Ah , we want to help the

54:53student do that , don't we ? Elba ,

55:06Jehovah himself left us the model ,

55:09right , of how questions can help to

55:12answer very uh uh very important

55:14questions , right ? In the book of Job ,

55:18Jehovah asked more than 50 questions to

55:20help him reason . And if we look at the

55:23chart here , these are very interesting

55:25questions , even the " Enjoy Life Forever

55:27! " book will help the student

55:30understand the importance of observing

55:32Jehovah's personality . So , for example ,

55:35the first one , right ? How does Jehovah

55:38feel about those who preach the good

55:40news ? It leads to the lesson , when you

55:41are studying , lesson 21 . So , the

55:44question is not : why do you have to

55:46preach the good news ? Why does Jehovah

55:48ask us to preach the good news ? this

55:51law , right ? It is how Jehovah feels

55:53about those who preach the good news .

55:56It will help the student understand

55:58that it is something Jehovah really

56:00asks of us , but that we do it to please

56:02Jehovah , to make him happy . Thank you .

56:08And Emerson , the student needs to learn

56:16to see from Jehovah's point of view . If

56:18he sees what happens to him and his

56:20actions from that perspective , he will

56:22perceive His love and feel increasingly

56:23drawn to Him .

56:26>> That is true . Herbert

56:36>> and although it is already in the book ,

56:38which helps a lot , this new format also

56:40enables a more open dialogue with the

56:43student . So , for us to draw from him ,

56:46perhaps he has a problem feeling , uh ,

56:48loved by God because of some mistake or

56:50something , we can use this same type of

56:52question , right ? For example , we read

56:55an account , but these questions about

56:57Jehovah's personality are not written

56:58in the book . We can ask : " What do you

57:00learn from this account about any of

57:03Jehovah's qualities ? " And in this way ,

57:05he will continue learning to meditate

57:07on any lesson , just like that pilot ,

57:09right ? He won't have a rule for every

57:11flight condition , but through

57:13experience , he will also be able to

57:15meditate on these qualities .

57:17>> That is true . And let's go now to

57:20paragraphs 9 and 10 .

57:25>> As soon as we begin conducting a study ,

57:28we encourage the student to read the

57:30Bible every day . But how can we help

57:35him really benefit from his reading ? We

57:40can suggest that every time he reads a

57:42Bible account , he asks himself : " Why

57:45did Jehovah include this account in His

57:47Word ? What qualities of Jehovah can I

57:52learn about ? " That is exactly what the

57:55disciple James did . When mentioning the

58:01story of Job , James highlighted not

58:04only Job's perseverance but also some

58:07of Jehovah's qualities , such as

58:09compassion and mercy . We want our

58:14student to understand that each Bible

58:17account can teach us what pleases and

58:20what displeases Jehovah . For example ,

58:25let's suppose your student looks at the

58:28chart , begins his Bible reading in the

58:30Enjoy Life Forever ! book , and comments

58:35that he decided to read the story of

58:37Daniel in the lions ' den . In this case ,

58:41you can encourage him to meditate on

58:44questions such as : " Why did Jehovah

58:46save Daniel ? " According to this account

58:50, what makes Jehovah happy ? He can also

58:56ask himself : " What happened to the men

58:59who accused Daniel ? " Based on this

59:03story , what is it that displeases

59:07Jehovah ? Also , the student can think

59:11about other qualities of Jehovah , of

59:14Jehovah , that are evident in this

59:17account .

59:20>> Uh , what will , let's read the first

59:22text , right ? Actually , James 5:11 ,

59:25brother Davi there in room B. Look , we

59:36consider happy those who have endured .

59:40You have heard of the endurance of Job ?

59:43Have you seen the outcome that Jehovah

59:45provided ? Have you seen that Jehovah is

59:48very compassionate and merciful ? Thank

59:51you very much , brother Davi . What will

59:54help the student to get more out of his

59:57Bible reading ? What will really help

1:00:03him ? Ludmila .

1:00:12>> So , what will help the student is not

1:00:13only doing the reading , but making an

1:00:15effort to meditate on what he read . And

1:00:18how can he do that ? He can ask himself

1:00:20some questions , for example , why did

1:00:23Jehovah include this account in the

1:00:25Bible ? What quality of Jehovah can he

1:00:27learn ? So , if he does that , he won't

1:00:30just learn about Bible stories . He will

1:00:33be able to learn the qualities and

1:00:35feelings of Jehovah that are behind

1:00:37those stories .

1:00:41>> Thank you very much , Juan . And that is

1:00:49what this text of James , right , did

1:00:51very well , because the story of Job is

1:00:53really a story very easy for the

1:00:55student himself to perceive what to

1:00:57learn from Job through the story . We

1:01:00identify , right , with the suffering .

1:01:03But Jehovah's qualities also became

1:01:05very evident , compassion and mercy . So

1:01:08these questions will help the student

1:01:10to extract this , right , from the

1:01:12account , right , mainly what he will

1:01:13learn about Jehovah . That's true . We

1:01:19want to help the student learn about

1:01:24Jehovah . And part B complements it .

1:01:26Give an example of how a Bible account

1:01:30can teach us what pleases and what

1:01:32displeases Jehovah . Ah , Susan , still

1:01:46using the questions , uh , if the student

1:01:49takes the story of Daniel in the lions '

1:01:51pit , he can use questions like : " Why

1:01:54did Jehovah save Daniel ? " So , he can

1:01:57see how this account makes , how Jehovah

1:02:01uh how this account makes Jehovah happy

1:02:04. And he can also ask himself what

1:02:07happened to the men who accused Daniel ;

1:02:10based on that story , what displeases

1:02:13Jehovah ?

1:02:15>> It's so going much further than just

1:02:21conveying information , to see what this

1:02:24information teaches . Uh , let's read

1:02:27paragraph 11 . We are very happy when

1:02:34our student realizes that his life is

1:02:36changing for the better because of his

1:02:39Bible study . But it is very important

1:02:44to help him see that the things he is

1:02:46learning come from Jehovah , the Grand

1:02:48Instructor . Our Bible student might

1:02:53thank us for teaching them the truth

1:02:56and even compliment our teaching style .

1:03:00There is nothing wrong with that . But

1:03:03we must always make it clear that it is

1:03:05Jehovah who deserves all the praise .

1:03:09How can we help our student to see that

1:03:12their Bible study is a gift from

1:03:15Jehovah ? So , how can we help them

1:03:18maintain that focus ? Stephanie ? Even if

1:03:30our student thanks us or even praises

1:03:32us , we should make it clear that

1:03:34Jehovah deserves all the praise .

1:03:37Especially because , if their life is

1:03:39changing for the better , it is because

1:03:40of their Bible study . It is because

1:03:43Jehovah is the one teaching them .

1:03:46>> Exactly . Uh , Sister Carol up here in

1:03:57the front . Isaiah 30:21 , right ? It says

1:04:09that , you will see your Grand

1:04:11Instructor with your own eyes . So , we

1:04:14can help a student to see Jehovah with

1:04:17their own eyes , right ? To see that the

1:04:20changes happening in their life are

1:04:22because Jehovah is telling them the

1:04:23right path to walk in . Exactly . Sister

1:04:28Raimundo .

1:04:35>> It is interesting what was said at the

1:04:38beginning of the study , that when a

1:04:41student makes progress , it is because

1:04:49the one who deserves all honor and

1:04:52glory is Jehovah , as Revelation 4:11

1:04:54says . But we don't stop feeling

1:04:58gratitude toward the instructor , right ?

1:05:03For example , I have my instructor ; when

1:05:05she taught me , I felt gratitude toward

1:05:08her until today . 30 - some years later , I

1:05:12still communicate with her , pray for

1:05:15her , and thank Jehovah for having

1:05:17placed her there that day when she

1:05:19passed by on the street , to come to me

1:05:26and show me what was in the Bible ,

1:05:29right ? So , only Jehovah deserves all

1:05:32honor and all glory . But we cannot

1:05:36forget that Jehovah used the instructor

1:05:40as a mediator for God's word . Although

1:05:45the mediator is Christ , right ? But

1:05:49Jehovah used that person to come to me

1:05:52and bring and show me the truth , the

1:05:55knowledge that , as John 17 : 3 says ,

1:05:58brings knowledge that leads to

1:06:00everlasting life . Thank you . Eric , one

1:06:17way to do this in practice , not just

1:06:20with a student , but we can also do this

1:06:23with others ; we always have many gems

1:06:26that we gather during our personal

1:06:28study and Bible reading , right ? One

1:06:31thing that can help is to share those

1:06:33gems along with the source they come

1:06:35from . Many of the gems we find are in a

1:06:38Watchtower , a book , or a reference to a

1:06:40scripture . So , show the student , look ,

1:06:42have you read this Watchtower , and let

1:06:44them read it so they will find that gem

1:06:46there . Or you saw the reference for

1:06:48this text , let them look it up . That

1:06:50way , they will see that they are

1:06:51researching and that it comes from

1:06:52Jehovah . It’s not something we

1:06:54meditated on , because usually we either

1:06:56heard it in a talk or read it somewhere

1:06:57, right ?

1:06:59>> Very good . So now , uh , the theme , the

1:07:02topic is : help your student to use what

1:07:05they have already learned . Let’s see .

1:07:12>> For accurate knowledge to make a

1:07:14difference in the student's life , they

1:07:16must use what they have learned . How

1:07:21can you help your student do that ? One

1:07:24situation is when they find it

1:07:27difficult to understand a Bible account

1:07:30. For example , when reading about how

1:07:34Jehovah acted in the past , they might

1:07:36wonder : why did Jehovah destroy some

1:07:39people , but let others live ? How could

1:07:44you help your student to reason on this

1:07:47subject ? You can encourage your student

1:07:52to think about what they have already

1:07:54learned about Jehovah . For example ,

1:07:58what is Jehovah's view on life ? Even

1:08:03though we are sinners , how far did he

1:08:06go to save us ? Does Jehovah punish

1:08:10unjust people ? On the other hand , does

1:08:14he fail to punish those who deserve

1:08:16punishment ? Sometimes the Bible does

1:08:21not give details that would help us

1:08:23understand better why Jehovah acted in

1:08:26a certain way . But the truth is that we

1:08:30do not need those details . We know our

1:08:34God and we are sure that he always does

1:08:37what is right .

1:08:42>> What can you teach your student to do

1:08:45when they find it difficult to

1:08:47understand a Bible account ? So , what

1:08:52should the student be taught to do on

1:08:55those occasions ? Uh , Victor .

1:09:02>> When the student finds it difficult to

1:09:04understand an account , we can teach

1:09:06them to relate it based on what they

1:09:08have already learned about Jehovah .

1:09:10Remembering that God values life and

1:09:12would never punish a person , a person

1:09:14who is righteous .

1:09:16>> Very , very good . Uh , the brother ,

1:09:22sister Ines . Exactly . So , we can talk

1:09:28to the student and show them the

1:09:30Creator's point of view , how Jehovah

1:09:32has always acted . Would the Judge of

1:09:35all the earth do what is wrong ? No. So ,

1:09:38we need to show them that we must have

1:09:41this trust in our God . Regardless of

1:09:45whether we understand what Jehovah is

1:09:47doing or not , we must always keep in

1:09:50mind that Jehovah will always do what

1:09:52is right .

1:09:54>> And we have the illustration , right ? We

1:09:55could include the illustration . This

1:09:57illustration is very good , isn't it ?

1:10:00Sister Fernanda ,

1:10:08>> Fernanda . Um , so , when a student

1:10:15doesn't quite understand a Bible story ,

1:10:18the illustration here shows how the

1:10:21teacher is already helping the student

1:10:24connect it with the basics they already

1:10:27know about Jehovah , right ? For example ,

1:10:30that Jehovah created all things . Then

1:10:32it goes to the point that Jehovah gave

1:10:35Adam and Eve everything they had , gave

1:10:38them choices , and also that Jehovah had

1:10:42already provided a way out for

1:10:44mankind's sin . Eh , in the next one , the

1:10:48fourth point , about Jehovah having

1:10:49saved the ancient world through Noah's

1:10:51ark . Then about Jehovah helping to part

1:10:55the Red Sea and saving his people . Or

1:10:59the student will also see how Jehovah

1:11:02helped a family in Jericho , that loyal

1:11:06woman and her family . How Jehovah

1:11:08helped the prophet Jeremiah ,

1:11:10Ebed-melech , and Jehovah's purpose

1:11:12regarding Jesus , right , that Jesus died

1:11:15for mankind . So , even if it's a

1:11:18slightly complicated story that the

1:11:19student doesn't quite understand , she

1:11:21will know the basics of what Jehovah

1:11:22has already done to save mankind and

1:11:24how he is love , how he helps and saves

1:11:26his people . So , even if she doesn't

1:11:28know the details , she doesn't need to ;

1:11:30she will already have love for Jehovah .

1:11:33>> Exactly . So , the accounts are all

1:11:37interconnected , aren't they , Sister

1:11:40Daniela ? It’s the same principle as

1:11:46what happened with Joseph , right , who

1:11:48didn't have the principles , didn't have

1:11:50the Bible , but he used what he already

1:11:52knew about Jehovah to understand what

1:11:53Jehovah thought was right or wrong . So ,

1:11:56it's the same thing for the student . We

1:11:58don't know what times ahead will be

1:12:00like , do we ? Will they be able to gain

1:12:02all the accurate knowledge ? Do we even

1:12:04have time for that ? So , it’s

1:12:06important to teach them this exercise

1:12:08of thinking about what Jehovah would

1:12:10want based on the information they

1:12:12already have . It will certainly be very

1:12:15useful in the times ahead .

1:12:17>> Thank you . In room B , Hernandes . So ,

1:12:30the paragraph cites the example of how

1:12:33to teach the student to do research .

1:12:37And it mentions a question , right ? Eh ,

1:12:41why did Jehovah destroy some people but

1:12:45let others live ? So , it might seem like

1:12:50it doesn't make sense , right ? Eh , or

1:12:54why did Jehovah save some servants but

1:12:57not others ? So , for example , in the

1:13:03previous paragraph , the example of the

1:13:06apostle James appeared , in which he

1:13:10also cited the example of Job . So , why

1:13:15did Jehovah reward Job , uh , after all

1:13:19his affliction ? So , Jehovah had a

1:13:23reason , right ? If the student

1:13:26researches , he will also find it . But

1:13:31in the case of James , it says he was

1:13:35killed by the sword . But why did

1:13:40Jehovah allow that to happen ? We don't

1:13:44know , but in Job's case , he was living

1:13:48in another era , and in James ' case , he

1:13:51was the Lord's brother . So this means

1:13:56he was part of the new covenant .

1:14:01>> Thank you very much . And let's move on

1:14:04to the next paragraph . Another

1:14:06situation that may arise .

1:14:12>> See another situation where the student

1:14:14can use what he has learned about

1:14:19Jehovah . Imagine that your student

1:14:22already attends meetings but is having

1:14:25trouble getting along with someone in

1:14:28the congregation . Perhaps he is hurt by

1:14:31something a brother or sister has done .

1:14:36In that case , encourage your student to

1:14:39think about how Jehovah views our

1:14:42brothers , what sacrifice Jehovah made

1:14:45to show love for them , and how

1:14:48important unity among his servants is

1:14:51to Jehovah . What He feels when we do

1:14:57our best to maintain peace in the

1:14:59congregation . Help your student see

1:15:05that Jehovah is very happy when we

1:15:08focus on the good qualities our

1:15:11brothers have , not their flaws .

1:15:15>> How can you help a student who is

1:15:18having trouble getting along with

1:15:20someone in the congregation ? He is

1:15:24having trouble getting along in the

1:15:27congregation . Ah , Brother Marina , it is

1:15:41by helping the student to see the

1:15:43brothers just as Jehovah sees them , not

1:15:45focusing on the flaws , but on the good

1:15:47they have . And the paragraph shows here

1:15:50three questions we can use to reason

1:15:52with them , right ? What sacrifice did

1:15:54Jehovah make to show love for our

1:15:57brothers ? How important is unity among

1:15:59His servants to Jehovah ? What does

1:16:02Jehovah feel when we do our best to

1:16:03maintain peace in the congregation ?

1:16:06These and other viewpoint questions

1:16:08will lead the student to reason on

1:16:09everything he already knows and thus

1:16:11discover how to get along with our

1:16:12brothers .

1:16:15>> Very good . Eh , Luís Paulo , what I

1:16:22found interesting in these details is

1:16:24that it never says : " Look , explain to

1:16:26the student why this happens , " but the

1:16:29idea is to help the student reason .

1:16:32Because if we tell the student : " Oh ,

1:16:34but this will soon pass , no , don't take

1:16:36it to heart . " Sometimes the brother

1:16:39wasn't having a good day and maybe he

1:16:41will even forgive and the situation

1:16:43will be resolved . But what about later

1:16:44on ? Will he have learned to reason ?

1:16:47Will he know Jehovah well ? When he

1:16:50faces a more difficult problem , will he

1:16:52be able to make a good decision based

1:16:54on principles on his own ? So , from the

1:16:57beginning , when we help the student

1:16:59reason on principles , to get to know

1:17:01Jehovah , look , what does Jehovah expect

1:17:03me to do in this situation ? Will

1:17:05Jehovah be happy or sad ? Simple

1:17:08questions like these help him later on ,

1:17:10when he has to make a more difficult

1:17:12decision , to remember that he always

1:17:13needs to take into account what Jehovah

1:17:16thinks about the matter .

1:17:18>> It's important to do that , right ? Let's

1:17:21go to page 156 . You can also help your

1:17:28student use what he has learned about

1:17:30Jehovah when he has to make an

1:17:32important decision . Perhaps you can

1:17:36show him lesson 35 of the book Enjoy

1:17:40Life Forever , titled How can we make

1:17:43good decisions ? But what if your

1:17:48student has already prayed and done

1:17:49research , but still doesn't know what

1:17:51to do ? It may be that he has read

1:17:56several Bible principles , but is still

1:17:59confused , not understanding which ones

1:18:01apply best to his situation . You can

1:18:05suggest that he think about Jesus '

1:18:08example . What did Jesus do when he had

1:18:12to make decisions ? He said : " I always

1:18:16do the things that please him . "

1:18:20Encourage your student to ask himself : "

1:18:23Based on what I researched , on what I

1:18:26learned about Jehovah , what decision

1:18:29would please him ? " Any decision that

1:18:34makes Jehovah happy is a good decision .

1:18:41See the example of a student in Chile

1:18:43who had to make an important decision .

1:18:47She was being pressured by her family

1:18:51to accept a job that paid very well ,

1:18:55but would cause her to miss some

1:18:58meetings . Her instructor , Mariane , says

1:19:04: " I encouraged my student to meditate

1:19:06on how Jehovah would feel about her

1:19:09decision . Would he be happy or sad ? I

1:19:17also told her to pray about the matter

1:19:19and pay attention to Jehovah's answer .

1:19:23" She turned down that job and soon

1:19:26after found another one that wouldn't

1:19:29interfere with the meetings . Note that

1:19:33at times what to do , Mariane helped her

1:19:40meditate on what she had already

1:19:42learned . In the end , this ended up

1:19:46strengthening the student's friendship

1:19:48with Jehovah . Mariane says : " My student

1:19:53learned that when we put spiritual

1:19:56things first , Jehovah takes care of us .

1:19:59"

1:20:01>> Let's see John 8:29 . John 8 uh 29 . So ,

1:20:12who could ? Brother Tavares , please . And

1:20:16the one who sent me is with me . He has

1:20:19not left me alone , because I always do

1:20:22the things that please him .

1:20:25>> Thank you , brother . How can a Bible

1:20:28student imitate Jesus when making an

1:20:31important decision ? How can we imitate

1:20:35Jesus when making an important decision

1:20:37? That is , uh , Fábio Cuco .

1:20:44>> So , whenever Jesus had an important

1:20:46decision to make , he would pray and try

1:20:49his best to ensure that his decision

1:20:51pleased his Father , Jehovah .

1:20:55>> Exactly . Something simple , but it

1:20:58always worked , right ? Very good . Eric .

1:21:14And for Jesus to know what would please

1:21:16Jehovah after praying , it’s because

1:21:19he already had a good knowledge of the

1:21:21Bible and of Jehovah , right ? So the

1:21:24student also needs to have that

1:21:26knowledge beforehand . So it is good to

1:21:28encourage them to do some research . And

1:21:30the paragraph mentioned it , right ?

1:21:31Based on that research , on what they

1:21:33have learned , then they can make a

1:21:35decision by thinking about what pleases

1:21:37Jehovah . That’s right . And for part B

1:21:40, we have an example here . The picture

1:21:43illustrates it well . Uh , how did

1:21:46Mariane help her student make a good

1:21:48decision ? Adriana ,

1:21:56>> So , this shows a student who was being

1:21:58pressured by her family , right , who

1:21:59wanted her to take a job that paid well

1:22:02, but she would miss the meetings ,

1:22:03right . Her instructor told her , and

1:22:07encouraged her to meditate on how

1:22:09Jehovah would feel , right , about her

1:22:11decision . Would Jehovah be happy or sad

1:22:14, right ? So , her instructor even told

1:22:17her to pray about the job matter , and

1:22:19she did that , right ? So she went to the

1:22:23job , and then she turned down the offer

1:22:25, right , the work . It even says here ,

1:22:28instead of telling the student what to

1:22:30do , Mariane helped her to meditate on

1:22:31what she had learned . So this helped

1:22:34the student to strengthen her

1:22:36friendship with Jehovah . So this shows

1:22:38that we must put the things of Jehovah

1:22:40first in our lives . As 1 Peter 5 : 7

1:22:43says , Jehovah cares for us . So even

1:22:46when making the right decision , Jehovah

1:22:48takes care of each one of us , right , in

1:22:50our lives .

1:22:53>> Thank you , Rodrigo .

1:23:02>> The illustration makes it very clear

1:23:04that it is a personal decision by

1:23:05Mariane’s student regarding the job ,

1:23:08right ? She reflected on what Jehovah

1:23:11wants , not what the instructor wants ,

1:23:13not what the organization wants from

1:23:15her , right ? So this can apply not only

1:23:19to the job , but perhaps to another

1:23:21decision she might make in the future

1:23:23regarding family or entertainment . So

1:23:26she will reflect on what Jehovah wants ,

1:23:29not what the instructor or the

1:23:30organization wants her to do .

1:23:34>> Very good , Brother Elton . I found this

1:23:40paragraph interesting , right ? It even

1:23:44reminded me , for example , of Albert

1:23:47Einstein ; he once mentioned that

1:23:49questions are much more important than

1:23:52answers because they show a human

1:23:55being's true motivation for gaining

1:23:58knowledge , right ? So , if we look at

1:24:02that paragraph , the issue there was

1:24:05that the sister’s job , the student's

1:24:08job , would cause her to miss some

1:24:10meetings , right , not all of the

1:24:13meetings . It would have been easy for

1:24:15the sister to decide for her , right ?

1:24:18But she helped the student understand

1:24:20her relationship with Jehovah , because

1:24:22her relationship with Jehovah would

1:24:23determine whether she would make

1:24:25Jehovah happy or sad with her decision .

1:24:29>> Very good . And now in conclusion ,

1:24:32knowing Jehovah well brings blessings .

1:24:39In our Bible study , people learn many

1:24:42important things , such as basic

1:24:45doctrines , including the truth about

1:24:49death , the ransom , and God's Kingdom .

1:24:55They also learn about Jehovah's

1:24:57organization , what happens at meetings ,

1:25:00what elders do , and what the role of

1:25:03the Governing Body is . But as we saw in

1:25:08this study , it is not enough for

1:25:10students to just learn facts . The most

1:25:13important thing is that they know

1:25:16Jehovah well .

1:25:18>> What is most important for Bible

1:25:20students to learn ? Uh , Sandra . Well ,

1:25:32the most important thing is that they

1:25:34know Jehovah well , because when that

1:25:37happens , they make the decision to be

1:25:39obedient to Jehovah , right , to dedicate

1:25:41themselves to him . Because when a

1:25:45person studies , they are learning facts

1:25:47from the Bible , right ? The basic

1:25:51doctrines about death , the ransom , the

1:25:54Kingdom , how meetings work , the role of

1:25:57the elders , the Governing Body , etc. So

1:26:00they know all of this , but if they

1:26:02haven't learned to love Jehovah , they

1:26:05won't obey , they won't dedicate

1:26:07themselves to him . So we have to notice

1:26:13during the study if the student is

1:26:15loving Jehovah , developing this desire

1:26:18to do what pleases him .

1:26:22>> Very good . It is essential to do that ,

1:26:25Jose .

1:26:29>> Exactly , right ? So , we aren't training

1:26:32someone just to answer Bible questions ,

1:26:34are we ? We want to help someone get to

1:26:36know Jehovah , to love his personality ,

1:26:39to live in harmony with his standards .

1:26:41Because as it says here in John 17 : 3 ,

1:26:43the student's life and our own depend

1:26:45on this , right ? On knowing Jehovah

1:26:47himself .

1:26:48>> Well , let’s go to the last one .

1:26:53>> It is an immense privilege to help

1:26:56others learn about Jehovah . Those who

1:27:01know and worship Jehovah receive many

1:27:03blessings . Even now , they are truly

1:27:08happy . In the future , all those who

1:27:12have knowledge of the one who is true ,

1:27:14Jehovah , will gain everlasting life .

1:27:19And it doesn't stop there . The Bible

1:27:22says that anyone who strives to know

1:27:25and love Jehovah is known by him . Just

1:27:31imagine , the Almighty God pays

1:27:34attention to us and sees us as a friend

1:27:37. No , there is no greater blessing than

1:27:42that .

1:27:44>> Thank you very much , Paulo , for that

1:27:45reading . What blessings do those who

1:27:49know Jehovah receive ? Brother José

1:27:51Camargo . Gaining everlasting life .

1:27:58>> Very good , Sister Priscila . Right here

1:28:01in the front .

1:28:08>> There are many benefits , many blessings

1:28:10that we have from knowing Jehovah . But

1:28:13the greatest of them all is that

1:28:15Jehovah looks at us as friends , and

1:28:18this shows that our love is recognized

1:28:20by him , that we are doing the right

1:28:23thing by striving to love him truly .

1:28:26Furthermore , we receive true happiness

1:28:28even in the difficult world we live in

1:28:30today and the guarantee of being able

1:28:32to , you know , gain everlasting life in

1:28:34the very near future .

1:28:37>> Exactly . What a wonderful study . Let's

1:28:42move on to the review . How would you

1:28:44answer ? Why does a Bible student need

1:28:48to know Jehovah well ? Fiama . Because

1:29:00that will motivate him to want to obey

1:29:02Jehovah and continue being loyal to him

1:29:04.

1:29:06>> Thank you very much . That is a good

1:29:09reason . Without a doubt . At all . Ah ,

1:29:14Brother Emerson .

1:29:18>> And besides that , he will be able to

1:29:20make wise decisions in life , because he

1:29:22will learn to think as Jehovah thinks

1:29:24and to feel what Jehovah feels .

1:29:27>> That's it . So , it is essential that he

1:29:31does this . Uh , how can we help a

1:29:35student get to know Jehovah's

1:29:36personality ? Milena . Well ,

1:29:44>> the study mentioned three important

1:29:46ways , right ? First , by making good use

1:29:49of questions , and the " Enjoy Life

1:29:50Forever ! " book will help us a lot with

1:29:52that , right ? Also by encouraging him to

1:29:55meditate on the qualities he learns

1:29:57about Jehovah when reading a Bible

1:29:59account , and also when he notices that

1:30:01his life is improving after he started

1:30:03studying the Bible , by highlighting to

1:30:05him that this is not thanks to us , but

1:30:07thanks to Jehovah who provided the

1:30:09Bible , who prepared , you know , his

1:30:10organization to welcome these people

1:30:12and conduct a study with them .

1:30:16>> That's true . This will help him to know

1:30:23Jehovah's personality well . How can we

1:30:27help a student to use what he has

1:30:30already learned about Jehovah ? He has

1:30:33already acquired quite a bit of

1:30:35knowledge . How to use it ? Ailton . Uh ,

1:30:49by helping him , you know , when he has

1:30:51to make decisions , to take into

1:30:53consideration what Jehovah thinks about

1:30:55that decision , right ? Whether it

1:30:58pleases Jehovah or displeases him ,

1:31:00right ? Exactly . Márcio .

1:31:06>> And what can help him is to imitate

1:31:07Jesus , right ? When Jesus had to make a

1:31:09decision , he always put what pleased

1:31:11his Father first , didn't he ? So , when

1:31:13we instill this in the student's heart ,

1:31:15even if he doesn't have a specific law

1:31:17there , right ? He will meditate and see

1:31:19what pleases Jehovah in order to make

1:31:21his decisions .

1:31:22>> Exactly . So , it became even more

1:31:27evident that we need to help the

1:31:30student know Jehovah well , his

1:31:33personality , what pleases Jehovah , what

1:31:37displeases Jehovah , and make him love

1:31:41Jehovah , because then he will obey

1:31:44Jehovah continually . And an important

1:31:49point of the study is to help us step

1:31:52out of the picture at the right time ,

1:31:56because it is natural for the student

1:32:00to develop , as someone used in the

1:32:03comments , the expression friendship

1:32:06with us . And he starts to like us . This

1:32:10is natural , it is good , it is

1:32:12beneficial . But if it stays only at

1:32:15that , it will be very little . It will

1:32:18be a friendship between two human

1:32:20beings . And we want his friendship to

1:32:24be primarily with Jehovah . So we have

1:32:27to have the skill . The study helps us ,

1:32:30in due time , not to disappear from our

1:32:32student's life , isn't that right ? but

1:32:36to help him gradually see that the

1:32:38relationship he is building is not

1:32:40primarily with us . We are just a bridge

1:32:44up to a certain point . Now he needs to

1:32:48stay connected to Jehovah , because it

1:32:50is not us who will give him eternal

1:32:52life . It is Jehovah who will give him

1:32:56eternal life . So , let us learn to step

1:33:00out of the picture , so to speak , at the

1:33:03right moment , and turn all attention to

1:33:05Jehovah , disciples of Christ , and they

1:33:08will gain eternal life . Uh , this

1:33:15requires effort like everything we do ,

1:33:19but our determination is to give our

1:33:22best to Jehovah , not what is so-so , but

1:33:25to always give our best . Let's sing

1:33:29about this . So , it is song 84 , let us

1:33:32give our best . And to finish ,

1:33:36afterwards , brother Eric will say the

1:33:39prayer for us .

1:33:41>> It is important to use it the right way

1:33:45. It is not to give speeches , it is to

1:33:49ask questions , but not an interrogation

1:33:52, rather in a conversational way . And

1:33:59we see that Jehovah uses this method

1:34:01because he helped Job to understand

1:34:04more about him by asking more than 50

1:34:07questions . That is how we can correctly

1:34:13use our publication , our book in the

1:34:16right way . Lesson 10 , part A. What will

1:34:21help the student to get more out of his

1:34:25reading ? of the Bible . Here is an idea ,

1:34:30a suggestion : every time he reads an

1:34:33account , he should ask himself , why did

1:34:36Jehovah include this account in His

1:34:39word ? What qualities of His can I learn

1:34:42about ? And it can be very beneficial to

1:34:49do it this way . Let's take an example

1:34:54of an account that can teach us what

1:34:56pleases and displeases God . And let's

1:35:00look , for example , he will read the

1:35:06story of Daniel in the lions ' pit , and

1:35:10let's see and encourage him to ask

1:35:14questions like , why did God save Daniel

1:35:17? What makes Jehovah happy according to

1:35:23this story ? He can also ask what

1:35:27happened to the men who accused Daniel

1:35:30based on this story . What displeases

1:35:34Jehovah ? What does He think of people

1:35:39who slander or tell lies about others ?

1:35:45Let's look at paragraph 11 now . How can

1:35:50we help our student to see that study

1:35:55is a gift from Jehovah ? And it is

1:36:01interesting to do it this way because

1:36:04at some point he will tell us he is

1:36:07very grateful for what he is learning

1:36:11and uh , he might thank us for teaching

1:36:18the truth to him and his family , and

1:36:24even praise us for the way we teach . We

1:36:30must be careful and make it clear that

1:36:33what we are learning comes from Jehovah

1:36:35, not from ourselves . Therefore , God

1:36:40deserves all the praise , not us . Our

1:36:47Lord Jesus Christ did it that way . He

1:36:50said that what he taught people was not

1:36:53from himself , but from God Himself .

1:36:57Help your student to use what he has

1:36:59learned . 12 and 13 . What can you teach

1:37:03your student to do when he finds it

1:37:05difficult to understand a Bible account

1:37:08? It is important to help him

1:37:13understand that there is an explanation

1:37:16and we see that there is an explanation

1:37:21and Jehovah is always doing what is

1:37:24good ; an important premise to make

1:37:27clear to him is that there is an

1:37:30explanation , and we can encourage him

1:37:33to think about what he has already

1:37:36learned about God , for example : What is

1:37:41God's point of view on life ? Even

1:37:44though we are sinners , to what extent

1:37:46did He go to save us ? And would He

1:37:50punish righteous people ? Would He fail

1:37:54to punish those who deserve punishment ?

1:37:59An interesting point : sometimes we

1:38:02don't have the details to understand

1:38:05the whole situation , but we don't need

1:38:08those details . We know our God , and we

1:38:12are sure that He always does what is

1:38:14right . 14 . How can you help your

1:38:22student who is having difficulty

1:38:24getting along with someone in the

1:38:27congregation ? It can be a difficult

1:38:32situation where some may be jealous ,

1:38:35fearing to see our student progressing ,

1:38:39and they may have behavior , some

1:38:42incorrect attitudes , not good ones

1:38:45toward them , like not inviting them to

1:38:49a meal , to a gathering , perhaps

1:38:52snubbing them . It can be a difficult

1:38:56situation , no doubt . Be honest with our

1:39:01student and remind them that the

1:39:03congregation is made up of imperfect

1:39:05people . If they are expecting to find

1:39:10only love , goodness , and kindness

1:39:13inside , it will probably be very

1:39:15difficult for things to turn out that

1:39:18way . And it is important to prepare

1:39:25them in this way . That way we can help

1:39:29them not to leave God because of the

1:39:32offenses of others or their words . 15

1:39:4016 . Let's see how a student can imitate

1:39:45Jesus when making an important decision

1:39:48and be able to think , encourage them to

1:39:52think about what Jesus would be doing

1:39:55in that situation . We will suggest that

1:40:03they think about his example , Jesus '

1:40:06example . What Jesus did when he had to

1:40:10make decisions and encourage them to

1:40:15ask themselves , based on what I have

1:40:19researched , on what I have learned

1:40:22about God , what decision would please

1:40:25him ? A good question , without a doubt .

1:40:36Part of how Mariana helped her student

1:40:38make a good decision . She was not

1:40:43saying not to accept that job and the

1:40:50family was pressuring her to accept the

1:40:52job , but it would make her miss some

1:40:53meetings . Instructor Mariane comments

1:40:59that she encouraged her student to

1:41:01meditate on how God would feel about

1:41:04her decision . Would He be happy or sad ,

1:41:10and she also told her to pray to God

1:41:13about the matter and pay attention to

1:41:16His answer . She in the end made her

1:41:24decision . Knowing God well brings

1:41:30benefits like that . What is most

1:41:34important for Bible students to learn ?

1:41:39As we have mentioned , many things ,

1:41:42basic doctrines , the truth about death ,

1:41:45the kingdom , the ransom is very

1:41:48important about the organization ,

1:41:54meetings , the governing body , etc. But

1:42:01as we have seen , it is not enough for

1:42:03them to learn facts . The most important

1:42:07thing is that they know Jehovah well .

1:42:1518 what blessings those who know

1:42:18Jehovah receive . Now they are truly

1:42:24happy . They can have inner peace in the

1:42:27future for all eternity , life forever .

1:42:35And now they can also have a personal

1:42:37relationship with God and his son Jesus

1:42:40Christ and can be known by him . He can

1:42:44be their father , their friend , and

1:42:47their God , Jehovah . Undoubtedly , there

1:42:52is no greater blessing than this . Thank

1:42:57you very much for joining our

1:42:59consideration this week . May God bless

1:43:03all of you and your dear families . See

1:43:07you in our next consideration . Agape .
