0:00While clearing immigration, your bag is
0:02also on its own journey. Ever wonder
0:04what it sees along the way.

0:16Hi, I'm Hadi. I oversees the operations
0:19and maintenance of Terminal 2 baggage
0:21handling system. Your back journey
0:23starts at the check-in rows and you'll
0:24be issued a back tag.
0:27Once you are checked in, the bags will
0:29be whisked away by the takeaway
0:30conveyors into the baggage handling
0:32system.
0:35Each and every bag will be scanned by
0:37the automated tag reader to ensure that
0:39all bags are accounted for. Some of you
0:41may forget to remove your back tags or
0:43keep them as sveners. But if there are
0:45too many texts, the system might
0:47struggle and this will result in a
0:48longer processing time.
0:51Okay. Uh so this is the back. Uh you can
0:55see there's one tag here and there's one
0:59small here.
1:00Uh the system probably couldn't read it
1:03read it because the bag is hidden
1:04underneath the bag scan and then we'll
1:08dispatch it out.
1:10[Music]
1:12Once tagging is done your bags will be
1:14monitored in the baggage control room.
1:16And how's the EBS capacity?
1:20The entire baggage handing system is
1:21monitored real time so that we know each
1:23and every bag movement.
1:25[Music]
1:30Okay. This is how the bags are inducted
1:32onto the sortter and it will be
1:34discharged at its respective designated
1:36racetrack.
1:38[Music]
1:40Hi, I'm Jin Ling from the baggage
1:42transformation team. Today I'll be
1:44sharing a bit more about the baggage
1:45operations.
1:47Once the back arrives at the racetrack,
1:49the ground handlers will actually pick
1:50them up and sort them into the
1:52respective containers.
1:57We see a very different number of
1:59containers going to the aircraft.
2:01Smaller flights may see maybe only 10
2:03containers whereas larger flights can
2:05see upwards of 13 or 15 even containers.
2:09Our ground handlers are working very
2:10hard to ensure that all bags make it
2:12onto their flight.
2:14So once the containers have been loaded,
2:16they will be sent across to the aircraft
2:18site.
2:22Okay. So now the last step of the
2:23journey is to load the bags to the
2:25plane.
2:31Every day Shangi processes 100,000 bags
2:33and we are always working hard to be
2:35reliable and efficient.
2:39Behind every passenger's move journey,
2:41there's a lot of hard work behind the
2:42scenes which I find most rewarding.
