The Quick & Easy Way to Set Up Teknoparrot RPCS3 for Arcade Shooters

0:01What's up everybody? Welcome to the

0:03channel. Today in this video I'm going

0:05to go over how to set up RPS CSS3 with

0:09Technop Parrot. With the latest editions

0:12of Technop Parrot, they have included

0:15the RPS33 emulator to emulate the arcade

0:20versions of these games on their

0:21platform. The setup is going to be real

0:24simple. The process I want to go through

0:26is go beginning to end. I want to

0:28download a Technop Parrot, a fresh

0:30build. Want to locate the ROMs. I can't

0:33tell you where to find the ROMs, but

0:35I'll give you some pretty strong

0:37examples where to get them. Toss them in

0:40there. We're going to set our controls

0:41up using Technop Parrot. It's going to

0:43be super easy. Uh there is going to be

0:46some drawbacks to using Technop Parrot

0:49over the Demon Shooter RPCS3

0:52modded gun version. So, that'll be up to

0:55you if you want to decide to use that

0:56method or this one. If you already have

0:59this set up on the

1:03alternative RP3 light gun mod, there's

1:06really not much benefit if it needs to

1:08go at this route. But, if you're

1:10interested in trying it out and if

1:13you're too intimidated to try the more

1:15traditional route, this will be a much

1:17easier, quicker way to get everything

1:19set up. One of the big cons is for this

1:22game right here, Death Storm Pirates,

1:24you won't be able to map your wheel

1:26function. So, you're just going to have

1:28to take your damage or whatever else

1:31you're going to miss out on not using

1:32the wheel. And that's because that wheel

1:34is designed to be controlled by analog

1:37functions. So, if you use the Xbox

1:39joystick, it could work. Using your gun,

1:41it will not because that requires it to

1:43be in raw input, which will use mouse

1:45mode and just the input style mapping.

1:49uh you might be able to get away with it

1:50with auto hotkey. I haven't tested that

1:52out yet myself, but if you're

1:53experienced with that, then maybe you

1:55can go that route and get that working.

2:03anyways, uh let's go ahead and get this

2:05started and thank you.

2:08All right, so first step, um we got to

2:10have our Technop Parrot emulator.

2:14So, of course, you'll go to

2:15technoparro.comhomed

2:18download or just type in technopar

2:20download. It'll come up. The version

2:21that you want is going to be the TP

2:23bootstrapper. So, just go ahead and

2:27click that to install it. Okay. Now,

2:29next, of course, you want to get all of

2:31your games. So, if you don't have your

2:33ROMs,

2:35um this is going to be a very strong

2:39term to use right here. uh just in your

2:42Google and it should come up as one of

2:44the top three options around. I can't

2:47tell you which one it is, but I'm sure

2:50you pick up the hints and you'll get it

2:51figured out. Okay. And also, I started

2:53by using the ascending wiki.org guide

2:56right here. Even though you don't use

2:58Ascendin, all these steps will still be

3:01the same. You'll want to go to namco

3:03system 357.

3:06And really, it's just one paragraph. I

3:08mean, that's how easy we can get this

3:10done. Uh, there will be a couple things

3:12you will need, of course, your games,

3:14and you will need to locate the firmware

3:174.9 or later. Again, just use your

3:19favorite archive site, and just search

3:22up RPCS3 firmware 4.9. I think there's a

3:274.91 or two that can be used as well.

3:31Just get one of those and you'll be

3:32fine. and I'll show you where to get

3:34that and where to put that in your

3:36RPCS3.

3:38Okay. And even though this says the old

3:39fork, this still applies today. The

3:41games that we can use is Dark Escape 4D,

3:44Dead Storm Pirate Special Edition,

3:46Sailor Zombie, and Time Crisis: Raising

3:48Storm is still not currently to play.

3:51You can use to play emulator to play

3:54this game. However, it still needs some

3:57work. I would disadvise go the

3:59traditional PS3 route, the unmoded

4:02version, and you can play it through

4:03there on the home console. But playing

4:05the arcade port, it's still hit and

4:08miss. And right now, as officially,

4:11Techno Parrot does not support this

4:13game. Okay. And to get the firmware, you

4:16just I just use that term. It should be

4:19one of these right here.

4:22And when your download's done on it, it

4:24will look like this.

4:27Okay, so now assuming that you have your

4:29three games, you have your firmware.

4:31Let's go ahead and get Technop Parrot

4:33started. All right, go ahead and go to

4:35your downloads folder and you're going

4:37to grab your Technop Parrot zip here.

4:40I'm just going to go ahead and cut that

4:43and go to a location where you want to

4:45put it. Me, I want to put it in my D

4:47drive.

4:50Uh, first thing you'll need to do is

4:52create a folder. I'm just going to call

4:54it good oldfashioned technoparrot.

4:58You can call it technoparro rpcs3 if you

5:01want to use it specifically just for

5:03that.

5:05Going to go ahead and paste this. And

5:07then we're going to open this and

5:08extract all our files.

5:10But before you do anything, especially

5:12if you're running the uh seven zip

5:14archive, always go to properties, hit

5:17unblock and apply. And this will ensure

5:19that everything extracts as it should

5:22and defenders not messing anything up.

5:25Now we're just going ahead drag and drop

5:26all this out.

5:29Then run the uh bootstrapper exe.

5:34It's going to ask where you want to put

5:35your technopair at. And I want to select

5:37the folder that I just created for it.

5:40Hit select folder. And then we're just

5:42going to do full install. And I'll make

5:44sure all our files and all our

5:45dependencies are already here.

5:49All right, easy peasy.

5:54All right, now go ahead and open up your

5:56Technop Parrot UI. If you notice right

5:58now, we do not have our play or RPCS3

6:01folder. That is actually how Technop

6:03Parrot runs this. It doesn't natively do

6:05the Technop Parrot system, but it

6:07actually attaches itself to the folder.

6:11So, we had to make sure that is created.

6:13So, let's go ahead and open up our Top

6:16Pair UI. And we're just going to get

6:18everything set up here. Hit okay. Hit

6:20okay. Accept. Accept. Accept. Accept.

6:26It says no game set. You want to add one

6:28now. We're not going to do that right

6:30now. Hit no. You want to add one now.

6:33Hit no. Over here, we're going to hit

6:36next.

6:39Uh browse for our files. Um, you can

6:42just um download the latest file.

6:46Come through here.

6:49It's going to be this one right there.

6:50You want to download. It's a very short

6:53download. I'm just going to open this

6:55up. I don't want to cut it. This is my

6:57original one. So, I'm just going to copy

7:00it over.

7:04Just move it to your Technop Parrot

7:08folder. You want to pull out this file

7:10right here. This will be the that.

7:17All right. Then you can just go ahead

7:18and close. You can delete that if you

7:19want for a more cleaner build. Now we're

7:22going to go ahead and hit browse. You're

7:24going to go right to this folder here.

7:25So it's going to be the parent

7:27collection that now we're going to hit

7:31next. Scan for games. You want to skip

7:33game scanning. Yes, I want to skip. Uh,

7:37this is the auto controls. Um, I've had

7:39issues trying to do this and it can be a

7:42headache. So, I'm just going to skip

7:43this one for now.

7:48Log in a browser. I don't want to do

7:50anything. I can do this without doing

7:52any login. Now, it's going to say

7:54subscribe. I don't know why it always

7:55says subscribe because I'm not

7:56subscribed. It's even asking me for a

7:58subscription code here. I do not have

8:00one. So, I'm just going to hit next.

8:02Going to hit finish. Do you want to add

8:04in games? No, not right now.

8:08Okay, so now that we're here,

8:11we are going to go ahead and add our

8:14game. This will just make it easier to

8:16all set up if we do this much up front.

8:19So, there's three games that we are

8:21going to use. It's going to be Dead Sea,

8:24Death Storm, and Pirates.

8:28So, we'll do Dark Escape.

8:31Add another one.

8:35that C pirate special.

8:40And one more

8:45and the uh sailor zombie.

8:51Hit add games.

8:53Now, right here, we go to game settings.

8:56This is where we put the location at.

8:58It's always going to be the eboot.bin.

9:00If you don't have the eboot.bin, then

9:02you probably have a bad game or one for

9:05a different emulator. You might have the

9:07PS2 version.

9:09So, let's go ahead and back out. And you

9:12might as well change this up here now.

9:14So, input API, it's always going to be

9:16raw input for your gun games. So, I'm

9:20just going to save that for now.

9:23Storm pirates. I like to do this now so

9:25I don't have to do it later.

9:30Direct input raw mouse save my settings

9:33and sailor zombie input raw mouse save

9:38my settings. All right. So now we need

9:40to get our game set up and our

9:43locations. We don't have a game folder

9:46here yet. So we're going to do that for

9:48RPCS3. You can name it whatever you

9:50want. I'm just going to go

9:53RPCS3

9:56gun.

10:02Just so I know, that's where all my

10:03RPCS3 is. And yeah, I misspelled that,

10:06but right now I don't care.

10:12All right. Now, go to wherever your

10:14games were downloaded to. They should

10:16come in a zip file.

10:20So, they come like that. And all you

10:21would do is extract them. You can just

10:23open this up, drag and drop them, and

10:25then whenever you do, it'll look like

10:27that. So, these already my post

10:29extracted games. So, I'm go ahead and

10:30grab these. Cut them.

10:35Go to my Technop Parrot folder. Go to

10:39the folder I created for my games. Paste

10:41them there.

10:47Now, the location we're looking for is

10:49always going to be the ebook bin. So,

10:52for Dark Escape, it would be here. Look

10:54for HDD0

10:57gamece

11:02XC0

11:04user direct and eboot bin. So we're

11:07going to do that for all three of these.

11:09Go to our game settings. Deb boot

11:14history gun that HD

11:18game

11:20scex0

11:21USRD and eboot bin

11:25pop that up. Make sure everything is

11:27good. Hide Vulcan or OpenGL. Some games

11:31will run better with the OpenGL then

11:33Vulcan. You'll have to test and choose

11:3520 you want.

11:37Save your settings and then just repeat

11:40for the other two.

11:57open. Save my settings. And last but not

12:00least, Sailor Zombie.

12:02Going to go to game settings.

12:07up here.

12:12Sailor zombie

12:18right here e bin and open. All right, so

12:22we have all these set up, but we don't

12:26have our controller set up. Before I do

12:29my controls, I always like to make sure

12:30the game at least is going to boot for

12:33me. So, let's go ahead and do that.

12:37See if we can get

12:39desktop pirate special to boot.

12:42Okay. And it does not because it cannot

12:45find the .exe poly bear remove by your

12:48anti virus software which I I doubt it

12:51is. And I'll show you why.

12:55Because if you do this fresh or you

12:57haven't updated in a while, the RPCS3

13:00does not exist as far as the Technop

13:04Parrot itself goes.

13:07So, we'll have to do is go into your

13:10Technop Parrot settings and we're going

13:12to go down here for check updates. Even

13:14on a brand new Technop Parrot, for some

13:17reason, it doesn't carry the current

13:19updates, but it's fine. got updates

13:22available

13:24and we should have an option to let us

13:26update.

13:40Okay, trying to do something else there.

13:49I don't know why it's making me do this

13:50crap again. So, give me a second. Okay.

13:52So, let me be sure that you do have this

13:55thing updated before we get this far.

13:58So, I'm going to check for updates

14:00because then we go through that screen

14:02again. If you do, you can just hit skip

14:04all updates. It'll take you right to

14:05your Technop Parrot UI.

14:11Okay. And after it says your updates are

14:13available, then you can just come here

14:14to install updates. going to get a

14:17screen right here. Going to have our

14:19force feedback of the play emulator and

14:22the RPCS3. So, we're just going to go

14:24ahead and get update. We also have a

14:26change log here. So, let's see what

14:28they've added in the change log here.

14:33Fours.

14:34All right. So,

14:36there's some light stuff here. Nothing

14:38too crazy yet.

14:41Now, I don't know if I mentioned this

14:43already, but the steering wheel will not

14:45work when using a Technop Parrot

14:47version. So, you can try to auto hotkey

14:50it. If you're creative and understand

14:53auto hotkey or if you already have this

14:56set up on your standalone RPS3 gun

14:59emulator, then there's really not much

15:03benefit to going this route because the

15:05steering wheel does work on that

15:07version. All right. Now I can look in my

15:09Technop Parrot folder and now I have my

15:12play emulator as well as my RPCS3.

15:16So now if we go back and try to play

15:18this now

15:22we don't have the firmware.

15:25So I want to assume you already have the

15:26firmware and I'll show you where to

15:28install it at.

15:32So I guess we just go ahead and hit yes.

15:35It's asking me where it is. I have mine

15:39should be tucked away in my downloads

15:41folder. So, it's going to be the 92 pup.

15:44Hit open.

15:48Just hit yes from here.

15:54Okay, successful. I don't want to show

15:55it again.

15:57Now, we can go ahead and close this out.

16:01Oh, actually, if you just wait, it'll

16:03close itself out on its own.

16:06So now the uh game's going to try to

16:08start up. Now when you first boot a

16:11game, you're going to have some PPU

16:14models all compiling. It's all

16:16extracting for you. It's doing its image

16:18catch and video catch. It's going to do

16:20this every time you do the game, but the

16:22first time is going to be at the

16:23longest. After this, the game may start

16:26up in about five minute 5 seconds or 10

16:29seconds,

16:32but it's going to be the first time for

16:33every game. So, just keep that in mind.

16:36And depending on your CPU and your

16:39graphics card, this process may take 30

16:43seconds

16:44up to like maybe two or five minutes. I

16:48know on my 1050

16:52Ti, it ran roughly about 3 minutes on

16:55some games before it would even start.

16:57And that's after the original catch.

16:59Visual catch may have taken up to five

17:02or seven minutes on some games,

17:06but be patient. If it's still moving

17:09like that, then you're good. But if it

17:11stops and freezes, which that does

17:13happen, you may have to close the system

17:16and then restart it and try again.

17:22Okay. And uh we look good now. Go ahead

17:25and get out of here.

17:30And I want to run through and test all

17:31these games, make sure that they all

17:33start up and I'll come back with you and

17:37then we'll get the controller set up

17:38done and that'll be it.

17:42Okay. So, after you've gone through your

17:43other two games and tested them out to

17:45make sure they all catch, you know, at

17:47least start to the title screen, if you

17:49had no issues, then everything should be

17:51running great from there. Now, of

17:54course, our next tip is our controller

17:56setup because, you know, got to have our

17:58controls to play the games.

18:00So, we go controller setup.

18:04All right. From here, um, you want to

18:06have your gun, of course, run your gun,

18:08the program that you're using, uh, send

18:11in. I use send in. Like, I have my

18:12center program running. Gun for hour.

18:14Have your gun for our program running.

18:16Retro shooter. Just have your gear

18:18plugged in and you'll be ready to go.

18:24Make sure you have your border on for

18:26sending users. And we'll just go through

18:28here. So, uh, top to bottom. And I'm

18:31only going to be mapping one gun. You

18:33can map both your guns if you have it.

18:35I'm just lazy right now. Um, I usually

18:37do F2 and F4 on my tested servers. I

18:41always hit those. Some games will

18:43require some in-game mapping and also

18:46you can change your language on some as

18:48well. All right. uh coin. So, my coin is

18:53going to be uh

19:02is going to be number five, I think, and

19:04start is number one on your keyboard,

19:06but that's how I have it on my gun.

19:12Now, this is going to be in your test

19:15menu, up and down select. I was going to

19:16use my arrow keys for these.

19:24All right. And all game trigger left.

19:27I'm just going to use my

19:30my trigger, of course.

19:42There we go. Much better.

19:51Sorry, I'm having distance issues right

19:53now.

19:56Right. I was going to make that my mouse

19:58middle button. You can make it your bump

19:59action, your reload button if you want.

20:01It's mapping to games. I'd map these as

20:03well. Uh do be sure to put something for

20:07your toggle. I want to use that as my

20:09reload button.

20:19And then of course be sure to select

20:21your gun

20:24on the black one. Save settings. And

20:27that's going to be for dark escape 4.

20:32Uh pirate special control setup. And

20:36pretty much the same ones here. Even

20:39though it says wheel left, will right.

20:42Unless they've updated it to make it

20:45work time of this video, that's not

20:48going to work. But we'll go ahead and

20:50try that anyways and see if anything

20:53happens.

20:56Test. I always do F and F4. Now, in this

20:59game, you will need to do in-game

21:01calibration to get this to work.

21:39All right. And one more game.

21:58All right. Again, my test F2 F4 service

22:06coin start all that's roughly the same.

22:32All right, we have all our buttons

22:34mapped to our game. So, let's go ahead

22:36and give them a quick play. Just make

22:39sure they aim, shoot, you know, do all

22:41the uh magic that we're hoping it does.

22:51Check one, check two, check three, check

22:53four.

23:00All right. So, go ahead and start off

23:01with Sailor Zombie.

23:06We'll do a Death Storm pirate special.

23:09We'll go ahead and knock it out and see

23:11if our will actually work for us or not.

23:30First thing to do is calibrate our guns.

23:33So, we hit F2.

23:36Then, you can use uh up and down arrows

23:39to move this around.

23:41And we'll want to go to game options.

23:49Hit your enter button,

23:52uh, laser sight, all that. If you want

23:53it, you can increase difficulty.

23:57Um, IO test, gun test.

24:04All right. And yeah, our trigger is

24:07going to be way off.

24:10Hit the um, F4, whatever we did for

24:13service button. And now we'll start the

24:14calibration.

24:16You want to shoot as far to the left as

24:18you can to where you actually register.

24:32Then you can just exit from there.

24:53All right. One thing I forgot when

24:54you're calibrating, uh, the game can

24:56actually freeze while you're doing this.

24:59So, go ahead and try this again.

25:02In your gun test mode, you'll come here.

25:06You'll hit your enter button that you

25:09have set up. I just have it as enter on

25:11my keyboard.

25:14I apologize. F4 service button.

25:18And then you want to shoot the left end.

25:20So you want to aim as close to the end

25:22that you can.

25:30All right. Wait. Then it's going to say

25:32the right edge.

25:36Now the top

25:39then the bottom.

25:43All right. And that looks good to me.

25:47And I think it just froze on me. That

25:49this is I was talking about. So you got

25:50to be kind of fast when you do this. I

25:53think it took me last time about four

25:56tries before it actually let me do it.

26:00So just escape out of it, open the game

26:02up, and try again.

26:06I don't know if the other two games are

26:07this picky, but Death Store and Pirate

26:10Special is.

26:12So, let's see if I can do it fast enough

26:14to actually get it calibrated.

26:17All right, I'm going to hit F2.

26:25Move down to IO test. Hit F. Hit the

26:29enter button.

26:32Gun test. Enter. Hit your F4.

26:37Check the left end.

26:54All right, that looks good to me. Now,

26:56go ahead and your inner switch. So, it's

26:58going to be your F4 again.

27:03Oh, your enter button.

27:06Now you can move it around.

27:12Everything looks good. It's not perfect,

27:14but it looks good. I don't know if you

27:16can get perfect aiming on this version

27:18of the game as far as Technop Parrot

27:21goes.

27:23Just press enter. Get back to that

27:25screen. We can go to the steering test

27:27to see if our steering mechanism

27:30actually works. I don't think it will,

27:32but come in here and test it out.

27:47Yeah. So, I have it mapped to my

27:48directional pad on my gun as well as my

27:52mouse button, and I'm not getting any

27:54string input. So, just as suspected,

27:56it's probably not going to work. And

27:58that's fine. And it's not going to break

28:00the game, but it will take that little

28:02bit of flavor out. Let's go to exit.

28:05Exit the game. Uh, see what's in others.

28:12Come down here. Press enter. And then

28:14you have these options here. You can

28:16change your language. Cut the attraction

28:19ratings.

28:23They want those ratings.

28:35All right. So, I give me an option to

28:37change that. That's fine. Let's go ahead

28:39and get on with the game.

28:45All right. Get our coins in.

28:50Press start. Starting the game.

29:10Now, this game's really fun using two

29:12guns, even if you're playing by herself,

29:13which I mostly do. So, it's a it's

29:16definitely a blast playing by yourself.

29:18No pun intended.

29:31Yeah. right here. You would use your

29:33wheel and it's it's just not working.

29:36Like I said, it's not gamebreaking, but

29:38it is a little annoying you can't do

29:40that even when you do have the option on

29:43your setup that says wheel left and

29:45right.

29:55Okay, we know that works. I'm just going

29:57to escape out of here and

30:00test the other game. Uh, we'll do Dark

30:03Escape 4 4D. Now, in this one, it, you

30:07know, it was very important that we did

30:08the 2D 3D button because you can change

30:11how the game play actually is on here.

30:39All right, let's go ahead and check our

30:41settings first. See if we need to do

30:43some in-game

30:45calibration.

30:48Anything in game options that we can

30:50use?

30:59This may all access anything.

31:41Okay. So, for this game, you'll need to

31:42hit a service button to hit this menu.

31:44So, I have it set to my F4. I just

31:47didn't have my enter key yet mapped out

31:50to this. So, went back and fixed it. And

31:52now I can access everything.

31:55I'll go to others.

31:58So we have our language, English, clock

32:01setting, all that. Mess that if you

32:02want, but this is what we want. IO test

32:05and we want the gun test.

32:20All right. And actually for me,

32:21everything here looks fine. Um, no need

32:24to calibrate it. So I'm just going to

32:26leave it as is. Hit start to get out of

32:29it. Come down to exit. Hit start.

32:46All right. I want to get out of that and

32:47I'm just going to restart and play this

32:49again.

33:11All right, got our coins in.

33:13All right, now the game's loading. So,

33:15we're just going to wait the start

33:17button.

33:20All right, and start to begin.

33:28Uh, don't play this game if you have

33:30Pacemaker and if you're pregnant. So,

33:32knocked up, you should probably stay

33:34away from this. And this is where our 2D

33:363D button comes into play. You got some

33:383D glasses, then put them on and tell me

33:40how that works for you.

33:52Oh, excuse me. Okay, so I'm using my 2D

33:543D button. So, of course, that's 3D

33:56mode. That sets my reload button.

34:00It's like that.

34:01shot it and we're good to go.

34:22Now, of course, keep both hands on the

34:24handlebars cuz, you know, we don't want

34:26you having a heart attack. Want the game

34:27to stop if you're getting too scared.

34:30Hey, I understand if you get scared.

34:33I I get a little scared myself.

34:40All right. Come on, guys. I just want to

34:41shoot stuff.

34:54All right, I confirm that all works. So,

34:56I'm just going to call it

34:58day on that. And our last game test out,

35:02Sailor Zombie. Now, I've never heard of

35:05the Sailor Zombie games before messing

35:08with emulation techno parrot.

35:11I think I only played it once during a

35:13brief testing. So, let's see if I get

35:15this figured out.

35:22I think if the zombies get you that you

35:25like dance till you're dead or something

35:27like dance to death.

35:37All right. F2 to get to your menu.

35:41I have to check out my game options.

35:43Okay. Nothing too crazy there. Anything

35:45in others? Nothing too crazy here.

35:50All right. So, the part that matters,

35:51the Iowa test, you'll want gun test.

35:57Okay. And everything looks accurate

35:59here. So, it looks like the only game

36:01that does need to be mapped is going to

36:03be your

36:07It's Storm Pirates.

36:12I just close exit the game after menu

36:14and then it's going to restart again.

36:21Now, this isn't going to be a short

36:23video. I probably should say that off

36:25the bat. Um, I prefer to show you all my

36:28steps, everything from what we're going

36:31to get right to the times that I f up. I

36:34think the times that I I [ __ ] up is

36:37going to be very vital because no one

36:40gets these correct on a first try.

36:41You'll take a five minute video and

36:43spend 30 minutes trying to figure out

36:45why this didn't work, that didn't work.

36:48It really takes just five minutes to get

36:50done. I think my last five minute video

36:52I watched took me about 20 minutes to

36:54get done.

36:56And that's good timing. So, I want to

36:58make sure everything's transparent that

37:00you're doing exactly what I'm doing to

37:02get this to work.
