0:00Dana White on the Spin and Backfist MMA

0:02show. Thank you for coming in. You're

0:03here for Fanatics Fest, right? Yes, sir.

0:04What are you doing? Are you doing like

0:05autograph signings and stuff?

0:07>> No. God, no. Uh I I'm I'm I'm [laughter]

0:09actually doing press conference. I'm

0:10doing press conference and uh we you

0:12know, we have the octagon set up over

0:14there. Uh we have booths. We have um uh

0:18and my son my son actually

0:21uh created a manga. He got an artist in

0:25Japan, created a manga, got a deal with

0:27Darkhorse Comics. Oh my god.

0:29>> And and it drops uh it drops uh I think

0:32next year, but he's going to be at

0:34Comic-Con.

0:34>> I got to get him on my nerd podcast.

0:36Talk about it.

0:37>> Love it. Love it. And and uh so he's

0:39he's uh promoting his thing over there,

0:41too.

0:42>> Um yeah, we got a lot of stuff going on

0:45over there.

0:45>> So I don't want to I don't want to bring

0:46up something bad right away, but

0:48>> Oh, here we go.

0:49>> I I just really really laughed at your

0:51press conference on Saturday night when

0:52you were trashing the UFC production and

0:54you said, "We are the worst at

0:56celebrities in the world." Well, let me

0:58ask you a question. You are a hardcore

1:01UFC guy. You cover the sport.

1:03>> Yeah.

1:04>> Has there ever been a time that you've

1:06said, "Jesus Christ, these guys are bad

1:08at this." Like, first of all, we will

1:11we'll go on a guy, right? You're at the

1:12fights. Now, let me explain to you. If

1:14you have any ounce of celebrity, right?

1:16And and I speak for all celebrities when

1:19I say this because I know it to be a

1:20fact. When you go to an event, you just

1:24want to go be a fan and you just want to

1:25chill out and then and then somebody's

1:27like, "Hey, can we throw a [ __ ]

1:28camera in your face and you know, you do

1:32it." So, you're there and you're like,

1:33"Hey, here's [ __ ] Robbie Fox." And

1:35you're like, "Hey, [ __ ] how you

1:36doing?" Right. Yeah. And then, uh,

1:40>> we hold it there for like this awkward

1:4315 seconds where it's just it's too long

1:46>> and it never feels right to me. And

1:49>> I was on with Dave. We thought we were

1:50getting booed. We were like, I think

1:51they're booing us. [laughter]

1:54>> That's funny. [clears throat]

1:56But yeah, it's it's just

1:58>> And then the name mixup, the Shakur

2:00Stevenson name mixup was bad.

2:01>> Twice now. Twice.

2:02>> Yeah. The last one was Terence Crawford,

2:03right? Yeah.

2:04>> So, I'm curious. You make that call

2:07during the broadcast or you wait till

2:09after the show's over.

2:10>> Screaming.

2:10>> Yeah. Screaming. And And are you able

2:12during the broadcast?

2:13>> Are you able to enjoy the rest of the

2:14broadcast or is that in your mind? Like,

2:16are you able to enjoy the rest of the

2:18night or in the back of your mind the

2:19whole time? Are you just like,

2:20>> "No." Yeah, I I I let it go. Poor You

2:22know who David Ellison is? Yeah. So, his

2:25poor wife is like the sweetest lady ever

2:27and she's sitting next to me during that

2:30psycho phone call that I made to the

2:32truck. Uh but

2:36yeah, and then after I went crazy on

2:38everybody and you know

2:40>> they know I mean it's not like they

2:42don't know that

2:43>> um you know I spend this money on Shakur

2:46Stevenson sign him bring him out to

2:47>> lot of money

2:48>> to to promote him and all this [ __ ]

2:50>> and and we throw him up as an OKC

2:52basketball player. [laughter] It's like

2:55come on man give me a break. And on on

2:58the same broadcast, we had some

2:59celebrity involvement from Sophie

3:00Cunningham going to basketball where she

3:03was a special guest octagon girl. I've

3:05never seen that on a UFC broadcast ever.

3:07>> Which that's not really. So what

3:09happened is listen, if there's anything

3:11about me that you that that that you've

3:13noticed over the years is that when

3:14something organically pops up, I lean

3:17right into it. So, she I first of all, I

3:20love Sophie and and her and I have have

3:22have created a relationship and become

3:24friends. And

3:27she uh I guess she walked in and you

3:29know Amber that works for me that Yeah.

3:31So Amber comes over to me and she's

3:33like, "I just had Sophie Cunningham uh

3:35and she goes so funny. She she she

3:37walked in. She goes, "Oh, I want to walk

3:39around there."

3:40>> And I go, "Oh, she's going to walk

3:42around there." So I walked over to her

3:44and I said, "I'm going to have you walk

3:45around." She started laughing. She goes,

3:47"I'll do it. I'll do it. So, we threw up

3:49there and she, you know, the thing is

3:50about a Sophie Cunningham is that she

3:52has

3:54>> the personality and the charisma

3:57>> to do something like that and make it

3:58fun. And I knew that, you know, as soon

4:01as Amber said it to me and she did, she

4:03killed it.

4:04>> We were doing a live stream of the

4:05fights. We were watching the fights

4:06live, talking about it, doing a watch

4:07along and we s we were like, "Is that

4:10Sophie Cunningham?" The name comes up.

4:11We're like, "I guess Sophie Cunning." It

4:12was like cuz the Patty fight's starting.

4:14They're in the cage like where you know

4:15the emotions are already here and you're

4:16like wait a minute what the hell is

4:17that? Is that Sophie Cunningham?

4:18>> You're so right.

4:19>> And I turned to Jack Mack who you've

4:21done interviews with before and I said

4:22you know what I bet happened? I said I

4:24bet Sophie Cunningham showed up to the

4:25arena with no plans to do that tonight.

4:27She mentioned to Dana I'd like to do

4:29that. Dana said [ __ ] it. Get up there.

4:30And I knew immediately

4:33but what what's like the next step? Do

4:35you call production? Do you have like

4:36the other octagon girls show her how to

4:38do it? And like

4:39>> all great question comes up. So,

4:41literally, I called the truck, told

4:43them, "This is what we're going to do."

4:45Which I'll tell you something else that

4:47I was pissed off about, but they were

4:48right and I was wrong on this one. Um,

4:50[clears throat]

4:52then I told Amber, "We're going to do

4:54it." So, Amber gets her over there and

4:56and the Octagon girls are telling her,

4:58you know, so

5:00>> you got to do the walk down, sit in a

5:02chair. So you you said it,

5:04>> the Patty fight, they Patty walks out,

5:07the whole place is going crazy, da da

5:09da, and they have her do the first

5:10round.

5:12>> I'm like, you don't do the first [ __ ]

5:13round, you do the second round because,

5:16you know, a after the, you know, there's

5:18just so much emphasis on

5:20>> the fight starting, but there was never

5:22a second round.

5:23>> Second round

5:23>> again.

5:24>> Yeah. Yeah. [laughter] I mean, yeah.

5:25>> The rest of the night there was never a

5:27round two. So production killed that

5:29one. They were they

5:31>> Can we expect more? Were Were there

5:33people that hit you up after that? Like,

5:34oh, I want to do that next. Like, you

5:36think a celebrity ring girl can do that?

5:38>> I wouldn't do that. No, I I wouldn't do

5:39that. It was It was like

5:41>> It organically happened. It was cool. It

5:44was fun. And she was the perfect person

5:48to do it with. And even her outfit that

5:50she had on was perfect. She was

5:52absolutely perfect. She got barefoot and

5:54did it. And [laughter]

5:56yeah, Sophie Cunningham is awesome. and

5:58and uh she's starting to become

6:02a real star in sports and and uh welld

6:05deserved.

6:06>> Yeah. What did you feel like you got

6:08more texts about and motion in terms of

6:11either people asking for tickets or

6:13people just texting you about the fights

6:14if I asked you between the White House

6:15and the McGregor return?

6:17>> Ah different. So different. Um

6:20people were all talking about uh how

6:23great the card was, you know, the other

6:25night.

6:26>> Sorry I'm yawning. I'm not bored. I'm

6:28not boring you. I'm the hell is bored.

6:30>> So, [laughter]

6:32um, how great the card was and then I

6:34mean on the White House fight obviously,

6:37holy [ __ ] that was badass. The fly

6:39over. Um,

6:40>> I mean, even leading up to it, like what

6:43did you feel like was more like people

6:45asking you for tickets and stuff like

6:46that? Like more buzz around the leadup?

6:48>> Yeah, both. Both. Yeah,

6:49>> because the numbers are pretty similar,

6:50right? We just got the numbers released

6:52and I don't think they were drastically

6:53different by any means.

6:54>> Yeah. Um, yeah, both. Both both were

6:57big, but but by design, we we we knew

7:00what we were doing. We didn't just say,

7:01"Oh, throw some [ __ ] fights

7:03together." We knew that, you know, back

7:05to back this this this thing was going

7:07to be big. And uh I mean, wait till wait

7:11till um Paramount has their earnings

7:14call. You know what I mean? It's

7:15>> Yeah, it's going to be good.

7:16>> Yeah,

7:16>> it's going to be a good earnings call

7:17for Paramount. Uh McGregor just said

7:20today, I don't know if you've seen this

7:21yet, that his next fight has to be Max

7:23Holloway. Absolutely. Must be Max. Um,

7:27after the fights, you said not really

7:28interested in running that one back. Is

7:30that still something that you're like,

7:31"Yeah, I don't know why we would do

7:33that."

7:33>> Not even thinking about it.

7:34>> Is that because on Max's side, it's also

7:36like you're going to hang him up?

7:38>> Connor still has to have knee surgery.

7:40>> Yeah.

7:40>> And and and you know, go through

7:42>> You talked to him since the fight?

7:43>> Yeah. Yeah.

7:44>> Yeah.

7:45>> And go through everything that he's

7:46gonna have to go through. And I

7:47understand. Listen, he's, you know, he's

7:51very unhappy with the with with with the

7:53way [ __ ] played out, but

7:55you're a human being. You're older. You

7:58haven't fought in five years. And your

8:00body, listen, father time is undefeated.

8:02Okay? So, who the [ __ ] knows what's

8:05going to happen with Max over the next,

8:07you know, year

8:08>> and what's going to happen with Connor

8:09over the next year. So, I don't even

8:12think about that type of stuff until it

8:13becomes a reality. Yeah. When Connor

8:16reaches out and says, "Uh, finished all

8:18my physical therapy, legs in good place.

8:21They told me I can start training

8:22full-time now." Then you start thinking

8:24about what's next.

8:26>> Yeah. Do you hesitate building up

8:27another big main event like this for his

8:29next fight?

8:30>> I don't know. It's, you know,

8:32>> because he's in a weird spot where like,

8:35sure, if everything was perfect, a

8:36co-main event for him at this point

8:38doesn't seem that crazy to me. But it's

8:40also like I know there's a thousand

8:42people or not, there's going to be

8:43millions of people that tune in and go,

8:44"Ah, yeah, I'll turn it off after the

8:46Connor fight no matter who's up next."

8:48Like the casual the real casual fan.

8:50>> Yeah. Uh here we go again,

8:52>> man. He is bored with this.

8:54>> I don't I I don't know. I I I'm just I

8:56don't I'm not even thinking about any of

8:58that stuff cuz it's

9:00>> it's so long and so far away it doesn't

9:03matter.

9:04>> And then one more Connor question. when

9:06we heard Mayweather was going through

9:07some kind of struggles or whatever,

9:09someone asked you about it and you said,

9:10"Oh, maybe we could see if something

9:12happens."

9:13>> Oh, nobody ever thought of that before.

9:15It's just like, you know,

9:16>> you did kind of have a like, ah, maybe

9:18we could work something out.

9:19>> Here's my problem with the Mayweather

9:20McGregor fight. First of all, the first

9:22one, you know, was leading into it, I

9:25was just like, this is this is crazy.

9:27But, um, you know, we've seen that we've

9:31seen that fight before.

9:32>> I'm I'm 100% with you. I just the only

9:34thing that I thought of in that moment I

9:36was like is that something where if

9:39Connor let's say after this injury he

9:41seems very intent on returning to the

9:43octagon but let's say he said you know

9:44what I don't know if I want to have

9:45another MMA fight I want to go box I was

9:48thinking like you could sell it as

9:49Mayweather's 10 years older than he was

9:51and McGregor's you know a different

9:53fighter now I don't know personally I

9:55would much rather see him in the octagon

9:56I would much rather see like a McGregor

9:58Chandler at this point I feel like that

9:59makes a lot of sense now

10:00>> and and and the problem is that When

10:03when you talk about the Max fight,

10:05right, Connor won the fight with Max

10:08when they first fought. Max wins this

10:10fight. You have like a trilogy there.

10:12Whatever. There was nothing about the

10:15Mayweather fight that makes me say,

10:18>> you know, if we did that again, there

10:19might be a different outcome.

10:20>> People still say that uppercut in the

10:22first round. You know [laughter]

10:24>> what? People

10:25>> people on Twitter. Um, our guy Patty,

10:28what a night for Patty the Batty.

10:30Absolutely unreal win. And I feel it was

10:32a win that may have put a lot of people

10:34on notice and it felt good to be a

10:36longtime Patty supporter. Obviously

10:38Barsttow in general, we've all been in

10:40in Patty's corner since the beginning.

10:42>> But we got a lot of push back in the

10:43beginning. Oh, he's getting favorable

10:45matchups. Oh, he's not UFC caliber this,

10:47he's not caliber that. And then he goes

10:49in there and has against Gachi. And then

10:52Benois Saint Denise puts

10:54>> I tell you what, we don't do favorable

10:55matchups. Okay. Every everybody's had to

10:58fight their way to the top in the UFC,

11:00including Patty, including Connor, Jon

11:03Jones, Anderson Silva. Yeah. Go, you

11:05know, George St. Pierre, go through the

11:07laundry list of guys who have been here,

11:10>> nobody had favorable matchups. That's

11:12just

11:13>> and and it's just you see after his last

11:15couple fights even the Gachi loss. I

11:17feel like the Gatechi loss especially

11:18after Gatechi goes and beats Taporia has

11:20aged very well where people are like

11:22yeah he went in there and traded with

11:23Gachi for five rounds and was still on

11:26his feet at the end of it and he was

11:27winning rounds

11:28>> at the end of that loss. He gained 2

11:31million followers that weekend. Right.

11:34>> And the loss

11:35>> Yeah. He comes out the other night and

11:38the crowd is responding to him like he's

11:40defending his title for the [ __ ] 25th

11:43time,

11:43>> right? Everybody's going crazy.

11:46>> And he wins in [ __ ] unbelievably

11:50spectacular fashion and he gains 300,000

11:54followers

11:55>> in the win.

11:56>> Crazy.

11:57>> That's That's a crazy stat,

11:59>> right?

11:59>> Yeah. That's wild. I mean, the lay the

12:03pictures of BSD. He looked like he was

12:04in hell in that choke.

12:06>> I'm laying Oh, yeah. That guy's still

12:08not swallowing. Yeah, that's for sure.

12:09>> Yeah.

12:10>> And

12:12Oh, New York, baby.

12:13>> It's Seventh A. Sorry.

12:14>> Um, so I'm laying in bed. My phone

12:16starts ringing the next day on Sunday

12:19and it's the producers of Mob Land.

12:22They're like, "We want Patty Pimpblelet.

12:24>> Get the [ __ ] out of here." Oh my god.

12:27You get the scowzer in Mob Land

12:28alongside Tom Hardy. hitting that great.

12:30>> Oh my god, that'd be so awesome.

12:32>> Yeah, I hope he does.

12:33>> Incredible. He's got to be one of the

12:34biggest stars the UFC has at this point,

12:36right? Like, do you think he's

12:37>> Definitely one of the biggest stars?

12:38>> Top five, right?

12:39>> Definitely.

12:39>> Yeah. Wow. Who else would you put in

12:41that category with them?

12:42>> Top stars.

12:43>> Yeah.

12:44>> I mean, Jon Jones is is is still around.

12:48You have uh uh Ali um Morab has done

12:54very well.

12:55Islam. Absolutely. Do you think Arman's

12:57up there with all he's been doing with

12:59Nina and stuff?

13:00>> Arman definitely is.

13:01>> I feel like you can't go a day without

13:02seeing an army.

13:02>> That guy's done a great job of getting

13:04out there and getting himself a lot of

13:05attention and uh you know a lot of lot

13:09of lot of Nina Drama work. You know what

13:11I mean?

13:11>> Yeah.

13:12>> If you look at the the people that that

13:14have been built, you know,

13:17>> it is impossible to deny that N needs

13:20built some of these guys from Rob to

13:21Sean Strickland,

13:23>> um Armen, you know, and and these guys

13:26are smart. They lean into the

13:27relationship with her.

13:28>> Yeah, absolutely. Is there any talk

13:30about what's happening at lightweight

13:32already? It's a traffic jam at the top.

13:34There's so many great fighters at

13:35lightweight where it almost seems like

13:37you could put together a bunch of

13:38different matchups that would make sense

13:39right now. Is there talk about that

13:41already?

13:41>> Oh, yeah. Um, absolutely. And uh

13:45[clears throat] you know, if you look at

13:48coming into this summer, we knew we you

13:50know, we launched on Paramount and we

13:52knew we were going to do some big stuff

13:54in the summer and then every year as we

13:57go into October and November, you know,

13:59we end up having some great fights. So,

14:01it's it's going to be a uh

14:04>> it's going to be a hell of an end of

14:06this year.

14:07>> Awesome. It's already been a great year.

14:08Is there any chance we see an interim

14:10light heavyweight title with out? It was

14:13an amazing moment in Miami where he

14:15hurts himself. Everyone could see that

14:16he hurts himself in the cage. Then he

14:18has a finish for the ages which it it's

14:20crazy how fast MMA moves. White House

14:22McGregor afterwards that almost feels

14:24like it was like way in the distance.

14:25That was only a couple months ago.

14:26>> It does. Feels like last year.

14:28>> Yeah. Is there any chance we see an

14:30interim title while he's out?

14:31>> Very possible.

14:32>> Yeah. Paulo Costa has also been talking

14:34a lot this week. He said he turned down

14:35the the ank fight, couldn't cut the

14:37weight in time. Is there any plans with

14:39Paulo Costa outside of that? Yeah, I I

14:41know the matchmakers are, you know, in

14:44the middle of it with him right now.

14:46>> Okay. Um Jon Jones, you mentioned too,

14:48you saw him this weekend, right? He put

14:50up a picture of you guys. He said to

14:52Ring magazine that he's waiting for the

14:53UFC to offer him something right now.

14:56>> What's your take on that? Because I was

14:57under the impression he was retired.

14:59>> I was under the same impression.

15:01>> Okay. Did you see that quote?

15:02>> Yeah,

15:04we're always making offers. So, when you

15:07have uh I didn't see that quote. No. Um,

15:10you know, we have all these we have like

15:12almost 800 guys under contract

15:15>> and they all have to be offered three

15:17fights a year. So these guys are always

15:21>> even if he's saying he's retired, he's

15:23not technically retired because he's

15:25still in the pool.

15:25>> Yeah, that's different.

15:26>> He's also snip snap snip snap. He's

15:28saying he's Yeah, don't get me started.

15:29>> Don't even Don't even get me started.

15:30>> Don't get us started on this freaking

15:32guy. Uh Hamzot recently said Sean

15:34Strickland is running away from him. So,

15:36this makes me think, when does a fighter

15:39deserve an immediate rematch after

15:41losing a title? Do you think it it

15:43varies case by case? Do you think you

15:45should have to have at least additional

15:47case?

15:47>> It's a case by case because one of the

15:49big problems that that that happened in

15:51boxing is they would cut these deals

15:52where there was a mandatory Yeah.

15:54>> immediate rematch and things like that.

15:56And what if the fight sucks and what if

15:57people don't want to see it? What if you

15:59got dominated? And what if you know

16:00there there's a lot of different

16:02variables that determine what's next?

16:06Because there there are so many

16:08different

16:09options for fights out there.

16:11>> Yeah.

16:11>> And and the question is what do the fans

16:14want to see

16:15>> and that's always how you go.

16:17>> That's always what matters to me.

16:18>> So it's the same thing like Ilia and

16:20Gachi right now. Uh Sean Strickland and

16:23Hamzad. Obviously, I feel like both of

16:24those are in areas where it's like if

16:26you gave an immediate rematch to the guy

16:28who lost, I don't think the fans would

16:29be necessarily that upset about it.

16:30>> I agree with you.

16:31>> But there's also other contenders that

16:32you could give that fight to.

16:34>> I agree with you 100% on that, too.

16:36>> All right.

16:36>> These are always the,

16:39>> you know, it's and and and it's a good

16:41problem to have.

16:42>> Of course. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like a few

16:44divisions have that problem where

16:45there's just so many guys at the top

16:46that are deserving that you have the

16:48options available. Yeah. Uh, we also

16:50have the first UFC Philly pay-per-view

16:52in a long time coming up,

16:53>> which we're me and my team are really

16:55excited about. So, I'm a

16:57>> I'm a big Philly fan and uh I I love the

17:01place. I love the food there. As soon as

17:03I [ __ ] hit the ground, I'm getting a

17:05cheese steak.

17:06>> Um, you go. I'm a Goss guy. Yeah, I go

17:10cheese steak. And then um

17:12[clears throat] which I haven't been

17:13there in a long time, but

17:16uh even at the Four Seasons there, you

17:18know, you know, uh like Chinese egg

17:21rolls.

17:21>> Oh, yeah.

17:22>> They do the cheese steak egg the the

17:26one of my favorite foods in the world.

17:27Cheese steak egg rolls.

17:27>> One of the best things I've ever had.

17:29>> My favorite foods in the world. There's

17:30a place in Jersey City, Hudson Hall,

17:32that does them. It was my go-to.

17:34>> Really?

17:34>> You put something in an egg roll. I I've

17:36been I've been a huge egg on an egg roll

17:38kick. I went to I did a walk in my town.

17:40There was a firefighter truck called

17:42Stop Drop Egg Roll. I had a a vodka parm

17:46egg roll. We had a bacon, egg, and

17:47cheese in an egg. It's got a It was in

17:49Little Ferry, New Jersey. This is the

17:50town I grew up in.

17:51>> I thought you were going to say

17:52somewhere in New York.

17:52>> No. Oh my god. You just

17:54>> Me and L were going to head there as

17:55soon as we walked out of here.

17:56>> Can we do a full [ __ ] it Friday? We'll

17:58bring it [snorts] back. Just uh egg roll

18:00flight.

18:01>> I love it.

18:01>> Whole flight of egg rolls.

18:03>> [ __ ] Am I doing that today?

18:04>> Yes. [laughter]

18:07When he said that, it just clicked in my

18:10head.

18:11>> That's not going to agree with the

18:1210xing, right?

18:13>> Yeah. No, no. I I've been keto. I'm

18:15going to break keto at what, six

18:17o'clock.

18:18>> Five.

18:18>> Five.

18:20>> All right. Um Yeah. But anyway, Philly,

18:23like you know, you know, I'm a Celtics

18:24fan. So, uh whenever we do an away game,

18:27I love to do away games in Philly

18:29because the fans are

18:30>> [ __ ] hilarious. They always yell [ __ ]

18:32at me. And you know, I'll go in there

18:33with all my Celtics gear on and they're

18:35like, "You got some [ __ ] balls

18:37wearing that here. [laughter] [ __ ] you.

18:39UFC sucks."

18:43>> And I like I love every minute of it.

18:44And if we can walk out of Philly with

18:46the win, it's it's just the best thing

18:48in the world. And and usually like the

18:50guys that are all sitting around me like

18:52the Philly fans that they're hilarious

18:54and they're fun and

18:55>> the accents are taco accents. Yeah. Um

18:58is there any fights that are going to be

18:59added to that card still or is that card

19:01done? Um,

19:03>> I was surprised, I'm not going to lie,

19:04not to see like Pyer, Brady on there,

19:06like the three guys.

19:07>> Yeah, I off the top of my head, I don't

19:09know uh where we are exactly with that

19:11card

19:12>> and how full it is.

19:14>> I also I'm wearing the Oasis shirt

19:15today. I've seen Null Gallagher keeps

19:17coming to the fight with his case.

19:18>> How cool is that?

19:18>> And he had a quote where he was like,

19:19"You can't go back to boxing once you

19:21see this." Which I You're wearing the

19:22Zua box.

19:23>> He is the nicest [ __ ] guy ever, too.

19:25Really? Yeah. Really nice guy. And uh we

19:28love having him.

19:28>> Yeah, it's awesome. He's gotten way into

19:30it. I think his sons are super into it

19:31as well. I saw Patty.

19:32>> Well, that's usually how it happens. I

19:33mean, you're going to find out someday.

19:35As you get older, your your kids start

19:37turning you on to things that, you know,

19:39>> you never thought you'd be into. What is

19:41that for

19:41>> my relationship with the N Boys started

19:43from my son Dana?

19:44>> There there we go. Um, what do you think

19:46of the all of the UFC RAF crossover that

19:50there's been? There's a lot of UFC

19:51fighters that are now going over and

19:53wrestling in RAF. Are you totally cool

19:54with that as long as you know they're

19:56not in an active camp? Do you worry at

19:58all about someone going over there and

19:59getting injured?

20:00>> Yeah. Uh, I mean, you always got to

20:01worry about that, but they can get

20:03injured

20:04>> training. You know what I mean? It can

20:05happen. I mean, look at Connor. Connor

20:09was in the back. You know, Amber, we

20:10talked about Amber earlier that, you

20:12know, Amber runs the ops for the UFC.

20:15She's a [ __ ] animal. She's literally

20:17my like little badass the night of the

20:19fight. And we were in my room after

20:21after and then it was starting to

20:24circulate, you know, was Connor injured

20:26before and Amber said, I I went back in

20:29his dressing room and he was kicking the

20:31[ __ ] out of the pads back there and then

20:34that footage ended up coming up from the

20:35social team, but um you know, Connor got

20:39injured as soon as the fight started.

20:41So,

20:41>> I know. Yeah. Anything is

20:42>> possible. I obviously I based on

20:44everything you've said, based on

20:45everything Connor said, I don't think

20:46there was an injury going into the

20:47fight. There was that weird clip a lot

20:49of people poses where he's taking his

20:50shoes off and he stumbles back. An

20:51injury could have happened there. As

20:53crazy as that sounds, like there are

20:54wrestlers, Randy Orton famously injured

20:56his back, taking the garbage out. DC

20:58before MSG, remember he threw his back

21:00out sneezing

21:01>> before the Derrick Lewis fight. He's

21:02like, "Yeah, I sneezed. I threw my back

21:03out."

21:04>> Yep. No, that's a good point.

21:05>> Freak injuries. Yeah.

21:06>> But according to people that saw Connor

21:08in his dressing room warming up, you

21:10know, they're like, "There's no way he

21:11was injured. He was kicking the shit."

21:13And and when I talked to Connor, I don't

21:15like to talk too much about things that

21:17I talk to the fighters about personally

21:19and privately, but you know, [snorts] he

21:21he was like, "Dana,

21:24>> I worked on that kick my entire camp and

21:27and

21:28>> it was I landed it. I hurt a lot of guys

21:31with it and you know,

21:33>> yeah,

21:34>> it's crazy. So, who knows? I can't

21:36believe he threw that kick to open the

21:37fight. I know he throws crazy kicks to

21:38open the fight, but you're off a

21:40fiveyear off injury and you're like, I'm

21:42throwing a jumping switch kick. You're

21:43like, holy [ __ ] you've got balls.

21:45>> Yeah,

21:46>> that's Connor, though. Um, did anything

21:49that Ronda Rousey was saying in the

21:50leadup to her fight rub you the wrong

21:52way? I know that you and Ronda are super

21:54cool and she would usually be like,

21:55"Yeah, like I got nothing against Dana.

21:57We went the wrong way." But then she

21:58would go real hard against Hunter, real

22:00hard against the UFC, real hard against

22:01the White House guard against Kayla

22:03Harrison. And eventually to me it felt

22:05like the fight was more putting the UFC

22:06down than putting her fight up. Was

22:08there anything she said where you

22:10>> I don't disagree with that. Um I uh No,

22:14but no, me and Ronda are super close. We

22:16have a great relationship and you know I

22:18wanted uh her and Gina to succeed which

22:21Gina too I I I uh I I have a great

22:24relationship with too. Um so no.

22:28>> All right. Fair enough. It rubbed me the

22:30wrong way for for a little bit.

22:31>> Yeah. I think a, you know, a lot of

22:32people did reach out to me um and and

22:36were upset with Rhonda and people that

22:38you that that used to like her like I

22:39don't like her anymore and all this

22:41stuff, but uh you know Rhonda

22:45had to sell a fight.

22:46>> Yeah, it was just when she would talk

22:48[ __ ] about Kayla, I was like what are

22:49you bringing up Kayla's name for and

22:51talking [ __ ] about Kayla? And then I

22:52would say that and then people would be

22:53like you're a Dana bootlicker. He paid

22:55you for this tweet. [laughter]

22:57>> Yeah, my man.

22:59>> Oh yeah. Oh, they're going to clip that.

23:00They're going to [laughter] hate that.

23:01>> That's right. Robbie Fox, look at the

23:03boots.

23:05>> Oh, no. That That's going to live on

23:06forever. [laughter] That's going to That

23:08sound bite is going to live on forever.

23:10Um, this is something we were talking We

23:12were joking before.

23:12>> If you have any kind of common sense in

23:15in MMA, you're an ass kicker, a

23:17bootlicker, a glazer, a [ __ ]

23:19[laughter] and all this other [ __ ]

23:20people say.

23:21>> Yeah. No, I get I get those all the

23:23time. We were talking in the office

23:24about you coming in and someone joked,

23:26"Oh, what are you going to ask him about

23:27superhero movies?" And I said, 'I don't

23:29think he's ever seen a superhero movie.

23:30And they were like, come on. He's had to

23:32see some superhero movies. So, I am

23:33going to ask you about superhero movies

23:35now. Have you ever seen a superhero

23:37movie?

23:37>> Yes. I I love Deadpool.

23:40>> Really?

23:40>> Love Deadpool.

23:42>> Really? You all the Deadpool movies or

23:44just the first one?

23:44>> First one.

23:45>> Okay.

23:45>> First one. The first Deadpool movie is

23:47an incredible incredible movie.

23:50>> I'm with you. Hysterical. Yeah. And very

23:52much diverts your expectation of what a

23:53superhero movie could be.

23:54>> 100%.

23:55>> Yeah. you ever get into,

23:56>> you know, my son, my son that Aiden that

23:58did the manga uh is

24:03absolutely psychotic about all that

24:05stuff and and uh

24:07>> so he turned me on to we I've watched a

24:10few episodes of a couple different ones

24:12that are [ __ ] great shows where

24:15>> the guy who's supposed to be like

24:16Superman is a dick and he's a bad guy.

24:18>> Oh, the boys.

24:19>> The boys and and then the one with uh

24:23with John Cena is incredible.

24:24Peacemaker.

24:25>> Incredible.

24:26>> All great shows. So that's your lane.

24:28It's It's got to be

24:28>> Well, no, they're not my lane.

24:30>> No, no, but I mean, if you're going to

24:31watch a superhero movie, give me a

24:32little comedy. Give me a little

24:33runiness.

24:34>> Exactly.

24:34>> Yeah.

24:35>> I don't watch TV. I know. I don't watch

24:38TV.

24:38>> Except Mob Land, right?

24:40>> Mob Land and Land Man.

24:41>> Yeah. Paramount shows.

24:43>> Land Man might be the greatest TV show

24:44I've ever seen.

24:45>> Really? I haven't watched it. I got to

24:47get on. That's Billy Bob, right?

24:48>> Yeah.

24:49>> Well, you haven't seen it?

24:50>> No.

24:50>> Oh my god.

24:51>> How many seasons are out right now? Only

24:53a couple, right? Uh, the second season's

24:55coming out right now, I think.

24:56>> All right, I'll get on that before our

24:59next interview. I I'll be caught up on

25:00landing.

25:01>> The writing,

25:03uh, the acting, the characters, it's

25:08it's unbeliev Thornton, man, you know,

25:11he's had this this weird career where,

25:14you know, Billy Bob Thornton's a big

25:16star, but Billy Bob Thornton is like

25:19almost like the anti- star. And then and

25:21then you know he disappeared for a while

25:23or he probably did some stuff that I

25:25didn't see since Slingblade, right?

25:27>> Yeah.

25:28>> Yeah.

25:28>> And then when when when you when when

25:30you see him in this show, he's just such

25:32a [ __ ] great actor, man. He's so

25:35good.

25:36>> He's good in the [ __ ] T-Mobile

25:38commercial he's in. You know what I

25:39mean? It's it's like

25:41>> it's you got to watch Lamb Man.

25:43>> If I could pass along a recommendation

25:44myself, I know you're not a big TV guy.

25:46Billy Bob is one of the stars of the

25:48first season of Fargo when they did

25:50Fargo as a TV show.

25:51>> Okay.

25:52>> His character in that first season is

25:54one of the best characters I've ever

25:55seen in any TV show.

25:57>> Really

25:57>> lights out good. And it Fargo is a cool

25:59show because every season is a

26:00completely different story. So you could

26:02just watch one season and it feels like

26:04you watch the entire series.

26:05>> So I would recommend the first season of

26:07Fargo if you're a Billy Bob guy.

26:08>> Okay. Done. Well, I became a Billy Bob

26:11guy. So now I'm going to watch the first

26:13first season of Fargo.

26:14>> Taylor Sheridan's a fight guy, right?

26:15Taylor Sheridan comes to the UFC.

26:16>> Yeah, he was just there.

26:17>> Yeah, he was at the fights this weekend.

26:18Yeah, you got his name right when the

26:20name card came up.

26:21>> Yeah, [laughter]

26:22shout out to UFC production. Good job,

26:24boys.

26:26>> And then uh this this is one we we've

26:29got, this is going to sound crazy, but

26:30we've got a new esports team here at

26:32Barto. It's called the Telluride Bush,

26:35>> and the the guys are constantly looking

26:37for sponsorships. And one of them,

26:38Jersey Jerry, called me and it was like

26:40late at night. He said, "Hey, what if

26:42your finger slipped tonight?" and he

26:44accidentally sent me Dana White's phone

26:45number and I said, "Jerry, my finger

26:48don't slip like that." I said, "My

26:50finger just don't slip." But I said, "I

26:51will at least ask Dana about esports the

26:54next time I talk to him." Have you ever

26:55invested in an esports team?

26:57>> Yeah. No, but what would they look Oh,

27:00they're looking for me to uh to to to be

27:02a partner in the team.

27:03>> Yeah. Which listen, I'm not I'm not

27:05asking, but that is what that they were

27:07they were asking me to ask.

27:09>> Okay. Um Yeah. I was just curious, have

27:12you ever looked into that? The crafts

27:14and everything. Yeah, they me info.

27:16>> All right, I will. I will.

27:17>> Um, that's pretty much all I had. We got

27:19to get you off to your uh your egg roll

27:21shoot, I think.

27:22>> Have you watched Mob Land?

27:24>> No, haven't. Haven't got on that either.

27:26>> Robbie.

27:27>> And I love Tom Hardy, too.

27:30>> Did you see Snatch?

27:32>> Of course. One of my favorite movies.

27:33>> This is Guy. So, Guy Richie doing what

27:36Guy Richie does.

27:37>> Yeah, I love Guy Richie. Mob Land is

27:40absolutely [ __ ] incredible. And the

27:42second season is about to drop. So

27:43>> yeah,

27:44>> knock out that first season and and text

27:47me after you watch

27:47>> Mob Land or Land Man, which one should I

27:49watch first?

27:50>> [ __ ] both.

27:51>> If I'm watching one first, though.

27:54[cough]

27:54[clears throat]

27:56>> The only reason I'm saying this because

27:58I think it's probably more you is is Mob

28:01Land.

28:01>> It probably is. I love mob stuff. I like

28:03western stuff. Plan man's more western.

28:05>> No, it's not western. It's it's it's

28:07about,

28:08>> you know, the the the the oil business,

28:10>> okay,

28:11>> down in down in Texas and and the guys

28:13that actually

28:15>> own it, run it, drill it,

28:18>> okay?

28:18>> And and it is, you know, it you would

28:21never think that this would be something

28:23that, you know, topic that you would be

28:25interested in. But the show is so

28:27[ __ ] good. Like the minute it starts

28:29till it ends, I laugh my ass off. That

28:31like the writing is so smart and so good

28:34and Billy Bob's character is great.

28:36>> The the wife and the daughter are

28:38incredible and and the lawyer uh I like

28:41her too. Uh it just Yeah, I I want your

28:44opinion being a younger dude on both

28:46both shows.

28:47>> I will 100% watch them, man. I'll I'll

28:49hit you up. I'll tell you what I

28:50thought. All right. Thanks, Dana, for

28:52coming in. I appreciate it. Thanks for

28:54having me. We'll see you next time.
