Introduction
0:00Hey, my name is Chris Brennan and you're
0:01listening to the Astrology Podcast. In
0:04this episode, I'm going to be talking
0:05about Venus retrogrades in Scorpio in
0:08history. And I'm going to go through the
0:10past century or so of Venus retrogrades
0:14that happen every eight years in the
0:16sign of Scorpio and talk about some of
0:19the main events that happened during
0:21those previous retrogrades in order to
0:24give us some insight into uh some of the
0:27events that will will take place over
0:28the next few months as Venus once again
0:31goes retrograde in Scorpio here in late
0:332026.
0:36All right. So I kind of uh established
0:40this approach and methodology about a
0:42year and a half or almost two years ago.
0:45The last time there was a Venus
0:46retrograde, which was in Aries, where um
0:50I went through ahead of time before the
0:53Venus retrograde started, and we just
0:56like went through these 8-year periods
0:59over the previous uh century and studied
1:03what kind of events came up during those
1:06periods. And then what ended up being
1:08interesting is that many of the themes
1:11and sometimes literal events would recur
1:14or repeat in different ways once that
1:17retrograde repeated of the sky. So um
1:20I'm going to follow a similar approach
1:22here today now that we've defin sort of
1:25worked out that methodology because it's
1:28actually really effective in
1:29understanding and getting to the core of
1:32what Venus retrograde means what the
1:34sign Scorpio means and uh what it means
1:38when those placements are together and
1:40what kind of themes emerge in the world
1:42in general uh including not just in
1:45personal lives but also in in politics
1:49in art and culture and music and all
1:51sorts of different areas.
1:54All right, so um let's define a little
1:58thing. Let's do a very quick
1:59introduction. We got a lot to go over
2:00today. This is going to be a very
2:01ambitious episode. I'll try to break it
2:04up using some timestamps, especially on
2:07the YouTube version or on the audio
2:09version on the podcast website to make
2:11it more manageable. Um, last time with
2:13Aries retrograde, we went through
2:15chronologically in 8-year increments,
2:17but this time I'm going to try to break
2:20it up and group them based on topics or
2:23based on similar themes in order to make
2:26it a little bit more approachable. But
2:28nonetheless, I have a very ambitious
2:30episode today because uh when I did this
2:32research in the history, I ended up with
2:34something like 175
2:37separate events that were like notable
2:40events that I wrote down during each of
2:42the different Venus retrogrades. Uh
2:44where I did like 10 to 15 major events
2:47that occurred under each retrograde over
2:50the past century. So, um, I've paired
2:54that down a little bit, but sometimes
2:55it's only by seeing the big picture and
2:59seeing everything at once that you can
3:01truly understand like how impressive it
3:03it is to study some of these historical
3:06cycles and in which you can get the most
3:08from it. So, as a result of that, I'm
3:10going to try to pack a lot in here today
3:12and uh, yeah, let's get into it. So,
Venus Retrograde Dates and Repeating Cycles
3:14let's do a little introduction about the
3:16current Venus retrograde and then talk
3:18about some of the cycles. All right. So,
3:20the current Venus retrograde coming up.
3:24I have this diagram that was made by my
3:27graphic designer, uh, Paige Allison, who
3:30who worked with me to put together this
3:33new Venus retrograde graphic. And what
3:34it shows is
3:37my definition of the Venus retrograde
3:39itself. So the actual retrograde starts
3:42on October 3rd when Venus stations
3:46uh in the sky and turns around and
3:48starts moving backwards in the zodiac
3:50for 40 days. So Venus stations
3:53retrograde October 30th and it station
3:55it will station direct on November 13th
3:58in Libra. So it stations retrograde in
4:00Scorpio and then it goes direct in
4:02Libra. Uh the Kazimi with the the
4:05conjunction with the sun is right on in
4:07the middle on October 23rd at zero
4:09Scorpio. And this is actually the last
4:11kazmi that's going to take place in
4:13Scorpio because after this all
4:15subsequent kazmis will be in in Libra
4:18for like a century.
4:20But um for me there's also the shadow
4:24period which is when Venus first passes
4:27over the degree that it will later
4:29retrograde back to which um in this
4:32instance occurred on August 31st when
4:36Venus passed over 22° of Libra and then
4:40it will exit its post- retrograde shadow
4:43on December 15th when it passes 18° of
4:46Scorpio. But what I've noticed over the
4:48past few years, and one of the things
4:50that I think I demonstrated pretty
4:51compellingly in the last Venus
4:53retrograde a year and a half ago, is
4:55that really because part of what Venus
4:58retrograde is in one way is that it's an
5:02extended trip where Venus will spend an
5:06abnormal amount of time in one or two
5:09signs of the zodiac for a few months.
5:12Um, it means that as soon as Venus goes
5:15into one of the signs that it will
5:17retrograde back to, you really start
5:19seeing some of the events and
5:21circumstances surrounding the retrograde
5:23starting to build up. So that began for
5:26us in this current cycle on August 6th,
5:292026 when Venus first ingressed into the
5:32sign of Libra. And then that period will
5:36not end
5:38until January 7th when Venus finally
5:41departs from Scorpio for the last time
5:43and moves into Sagittarius. So, as a
5:46result of that, the time period for this
5:48current Venus retrograde is, you know,
5:51several months in the later part of 2026
5:55that we're paying attention to in terms
5:57of how Venus retrogrades are often the
6:00unfolding of a sequence of events over
6:03the course of that entire period of
6:05time. And while sometimes there can be
6:07certain events that really stand out,
6:09especially around the exact retrograde
6:12or direct stations or even the Kazimi
6:15that really if you pay close attention
6:17that entire period that it's transiting
6:20those two signs will sort of like
6:22contain a whole sequence of events.
6:25Especially because for each of us in our
6:27personal lives, it's it's going to be
6:28transiting through two whole signed
6:31houses in our charts for an extended
6:33period of time. And in that context, you
6:35can understand why that entire period
6:37would be important because it means
6:38Venus is really hanging out in those two
6:41sectors of your chart or those two
6:44houses and activating the topics
6:45associated with those houses in some way
6:48for this extended period of like a few
6:50months, which is different or abnormal
6:53compared to usually like the 3 weeks or
6:56something that Venus normally spends in
6:58a sign when it's going its normal speed.
7:02All right. So that's how I am going to
7:04define most of these Venus retrograde
7:07periods that I'm talking about through
7:08the first ingress and last ingress. And
7:12when you define them in that way,
7:16uh, one of the things I should say
7:17really quickly is, um, Venus
7:20every 8 years, Venus will go retrograde
7:23in approximately the same spot in the
7:26sky and it just shifts gradually about
7:292° earlier each time. But as a result of
7:33that um here on the screen for those
7:35watching the video version right now is
7:37the the list of years over the past
7:40century or so in which Venus went
7:42retrograde in this 8-year cycle in the
7:46sign of Scorpio. So the first one was in
7:491906 and that's when Venus it had been
7:53retrograding in Sagittarius for most of
7:55the previous century but then for the
7:58first time in 1906 Venus retrograded
8:01back into Scorpio and stationed direct
8:03there and then from for every like
8:06subsequent
8:088-year period basically Venus would keep
8:11moving every 8 years about 2° or so
8:15further and further into Scorpio at the
8:17direct station until eventually it was
8:20like spending its entire time in there.
8:23So with that in mind, here's the Venus
8:26retrograde in Scorpio years. I'll read
8:28them off for the audio listeners real
8:30quick. So it is 1906, 1914,
8:351922, 1930, 1938, 1946,
8:411954,
8:421962,
8:441970, 1978, 1986, 1994,
8:492002, 2010, 2018, and 2026.
8:55So keep these years in mind because
8:56these are going to be the years we're
8:57going to focus on. And because of how
9:01closely Venus retrograde repeats itself
9:04every 8 years in the same spot in the
9:06zodiac, um it does it not just in the
9:09same sign like let's say in Scorpio in
9:11this instance, but also it does it in in
9:14very closely or roughly the same part of
9:16the year. So the Venus retrograde in
9:20Scorpio in all of these years is
9:23basically taking place in the last few
9:26months of that year. So, we're going to
9:28be talking about the last few months of
9:30each of these years that I just
9:32mentioned in 8-year increments.
9:36And
9:38when you take into account the first
9:40ingress and the last ingress, it gives
9:43the following set of dates
9:47uh that I will list here for the video
9:49people. I'm not going to read all of
9:51these off. Maybe I'll just read like the
9:53first two. So in 1906, for example, on
9:56September 7th, 1906, Venus first
9:59ingressed into the sign it would later
10:01retrograde back to. Um, and then it
10:04finally
10:06left or departed or made its final
10:08egress from the sign it retrograded in
10:11on February 6th, 1907.
10:14And what's cool is that because of the
10:17way the signs work out and shift over
10:21the years, it means these dates were
10:24relatively stable. And you have a block
10:28of signs where it was retrograding in
10:31Sagittarius and Scorpio and then another
10:34when it was retrograding from in just
10:36Scorpio and then another block where it
10:38was retrograding in Scorpio and Libra,
10:41which is the current one that we're in.
10:44So okay so here's the first block which
10:47is basically from 1906 to 1954
10:51these retrogrades were taking place in
10:54Sagittarius where Venus would station
10:55retrograde in Sagittarius and then it
10:57would retrograde back into Scorpio and
10:59station direct there. So all of the the
11:038-year increments from 1906 until 1954.
11:08Then
11:10for the next block of time, Venus
11:13started retrograding just in Scorpio
11:16from 1962 until 2002 where it would
11:20station retrograde in Scorpio and then
11:22it would station direct in Scorpio.
11:25Then the current one that we're in now
11:28at Venus has it keep it it keeps like
11:32gradually shifting back and now Venus
11:34stations retrograde in Scorpio but then
11:37it stations direct in Libra and that
11:39started in 2010 and then 2018 and
11:43finally now in 2026.
11:47All right. So that gives you some idea
11:48of the data that we're going to be
11:49looking at in terms of the dates here.
11:51And um I could do other prelim
11:53preliminaries, but why don't we just
11:55jump right into it with the dates
11:56because we got a lot to cover and I want
11:58to see how much we can actually get
12:00through dur during the course of today.
12:01So let's get to it.
Unearthing the Underworld: Buried Discoveries & Hidden Secrets
12:04All right. So the first category I want
12:05to touch on is I kept noticing this
12:08theme of um unearthing the underworld
12:13and there being buried discoveries and
12:15hidden secrets that would come out
12:18sometimes during the Scorpio retrogrades
12:21of Venus. So the first one is in 1922 in
12:25the Venus retrograde in Scorpio. It
12:27started in Sagittarius and on the exact
12:30day that Venus stationed retrograde in
12:32Sagittarius on November 4th, um
12:35archaeologists who were working in Egypt
12:39discovered the steps to the completely
12:42untouched tomb of the ancient Egyptian
12:45pharaoh Tutin Common. And what happened
12:49is over the course of the subsequent
12:52Venus retrograde where it stationed in
12:54Sagittarius and then it backed up and
12:56stationed direct in uh Scorpio, they
12:59basically found this ancient Egyptian
13:01tomb that had had never been raided by
13:05grave robbers basically which had been
13:07really common up to that point over the
13:10like 2,000 plus years or more since many
13:13of those pharaohs were were buried. And
13:16so it ended up being this like media
13:18sensation where it's like this ancient
13:21thing that gets unlocked or discovered
13:25in this really opulent um ancient
13:27Egyptian tomb. And what was interesting
13:30is that a bunch of um the media like
13:32sort of went crazy over this and
13:35eventually it ended up causing there to
13:37be like um this it ended up influencing
13:42aesthetics and fashion trends and
13:46architecture and other design trends
13:48during the course of the 1920s where
13:51there was something called like there
13:53was they sometimes called it like
13:56Egyptomania where like Egyptian themes
13:58and stuff started getting incorporated
14:01into western art and fashion and design.
14:04Especially the art deco movement was
14:06very much inspired by some of these
14:10discoveries that had just taken place in
14:12the publicity surrounding them. So Venus
14:15retrograde when Venus stations
14:17retrogrades and starts moving backwards
14:20in the order of the zodiac and in the
14:23order of the signs sometimes there's
14:25this backwards looking orientation where
14:28things from the past come back into the
14:30present.
14:32Um so similarly under the 1938 Venus
14:35retrograde in Scorpio there was this
14:39prehistoric fish that was discovered
14:42that was thought to have gone extinct
14:44like 66 million years ago with the
14:46dinosaurs and a fisherman caught it and
14:51dragged it out of the ocean and then um
14:54some scientists basically got wind of it
14:57and then it completely rewrote
14:59scientific history through the discovery
15:01of this ancient fish.
15:04Or later on during the 1994 Venus
15:07retrograde in Scorpio, um there was this
15:10group of explorers in France who
15:13stumbled upon this perfectly sealed
15:15underground cave system which contained
15:18the oldest and most beautifully
15:21preserved uh paleolithic art in the
15:24world. So, it was actually an art
15:26discovery
15:28of ancient Paleolithic art from
15:31thousands and thousands of years ago
15:33that was hidden in a cave that was
15:36discovered during the course of the
15:38Venus retrograde in Scorpio in late
15:401994. And I thought the symbolism of
15:43that was so brilliant and so beautiful.
15:46And then similarly, one other event that
15:49happened in the 2010 Venus retrograde in
15:52Scorpio is that um there was this
15:56disaster that happened with a group of
15:58miners in Chile where 33 miners were
16:02trapped um like like really far like
16:05half a mile underground in pitch
16:07darkness and they were trapped for 69
16:11days but then they're they're
16:12miraculously were pulled to the surface.
16:16alive and their rescue was globally
16:20broadcast and and supposedly more than a
16:23billion people were watching the
16:27uh not discovery, the rescue basically
16:30of these 33 miners. So that it became
16:33one of the most watched televised events
16:36in history. So, that just gives you
16:39that's my final one for this section,
16:41but it just gives you an idea of some of
16:42the things that can come up when we're
16:44talking about Venus going retrograde in
16:47the sign of Scorpio. And sometimes it
16:50can be very literally like underworldly
16:53themes being pulled up from un from
16:57under the ground into the surface. And
17:00that's in like a very literal sense, but
17:01as we'll see, that can also happen more
17:05metaphorically
17:06in society and art and culture. It can
17:09also happen in relationships and
17:11personal dynamics when it comes to Venus
17:13retrogrades in Scorpio. And we'll see
17:16the full range of that. But I wanted to
17:17start with showing that sometimes these
17:20retrogrades can work out very, very
17:22literally.
High Stakes Diplomacy, Brinkmanship, and "Deals with the Devil"
17:24All right. In the next section, I want
17:25to talk about themes having to do with
17:27high stakes diplomacy, brinkmanship, and
17:31sometimes even uh in extreme cases
17:34so-called deals with the devil. So, the
17:37first two I want to start off with was
17:38uh 1906, and this was still when the
17:41Venus retrogrades were largely in
17:42Sagittarius. And so you do get a
17:44dominant Sagittarius theme, but
17:47nonetheless, there are a couple of
17:48interesting ones where um in 1906 under
17:52this retrograde, President Theodore
17:54Roosevelt embarked on an overseas
17:57journey aboard a ship to inspect the
18:00construction of the Panama Canal. And
18:03this was actually a a major historical
18:06event because it was the first time a
18:08sitting US president traveled outside of
18:11the United States while he was in
18:13office. And what was interesting and
18:15cool about this is that this was the
18:17very day that Venus stationed retrograde
18:19in Sagittarius.
18:21So, it's kind of striking to me that you
18:23get this president traveling overseas
18:27for the first time, like making a
18:29historical precedent um on the day that
18:32Venus stations retrograde in
18:33Sagittarius. And then, interestingly, a
18:36few months later, on December 10th,
18:391906, Roosevelt was awarded the Nobel
18:42Peace Prize for brokering um like a
18:46treaty in a in a war between Russia and
18:48Japan the previous year. And this marked
18:53another first because this was the first
18:55time that an an American was honored
18:58with the Nobel Prize. So, that was
19:01towards that was in December. So that
19:03was towards or like after uh Venus
19:05stationing direct in Scorpio.
19:08All right. So other themes though,
19:10another big one that stood out was the
19:121914 Venus retrograde in Scorpio because
19:16this retrograde basically took place in
19:19the the last months of of 1914
19:22just after World War I had broken out
19:24over the summer. And initially like
19:27everybody went into World War I thinking
19:29it would be like an easy and quick war.
19:32But then they were confronted with the
19:34way that technology had changed the the
19:38the the nature of war at that time and
19:41it became way more brutal and
19:44intractable and it quickly ended up
19:46settling into trench warfare and just
19:50lots and lots of people dying due to the
19:53use of machine guns and things like
19:54that. But then later on in December,
19:59there was this really special and unique
20:01moment that occurred that's often talked
20:03about in history books, which is the
20:06famous Christmas truce, where during um
20:10Christmas, basically a little bit after
20:13I think when Venus was like stationing
20:16direct um the soldiers at Christmas time
20:19who'd been like fighting this ter these
20:22terrible battles and like and murdering
20:23each other for months now spontaneously
20:27had a ceasefire around the Venus direct
20:30station and what happened is they
20:33started crossing over the trenches into
20:37no man's land and exchanging gifts and
20:40singing carols together and basically
20:43having a really brief very brief piece
20:46in what was otherwise like a really
20:48brutal context of this this terrible war
20:52of of literally the first world war
20:55which had just started months earlier
20:57and they were still in the very early
20:58stages of. So that's one of my favorite,
21:02you know, little positive examples of of
21:04a little truce for just a matter of like
21:07a day or two. Um that did not last very
21:10long, but nonetheless was one for the
21:12history books. Um, okay. So, moving on.
21:151922, I was really surprised to learn, I
21:18guess I hadn't focused on this a lot,
21:19but um, in the 1992 Venus retrograde in
21:22Scorpio, delegates from Russia, Ukraine,
21:25Bolaris, and, um, other regions signed a
21:30declaration and treaty for the creation
21:34of the USSR.
21:36So this is basically the the
21:38foundational treaty to centralize power
21:42and to give birth to uh what became the
21:45Soviet Union basically during this Venus
21:47retrograde in Scorpio in uh 1922. And
21:52what was interesting is it was like
21:54Venus retrograde in Scorpio that year
21:55that stationed direct conjunct Jupiter
21:58which was very similar to the Venus
22:00Jupiter conjunction in the United States
22:02birth chart. And then additionally um
22:06there was also a Mars Uranus conjunction
22:08at that time which is also similar to
22:10the Mars Uranus conjunction of the US
22:12birth chart which I've talked about
22:14extensively in recent episodes over the
22:16past year. And then what's interesting
22:17about that with the Soviet Union having
22:20a Mars Uranus conjunction in its birth
22:23chart is that the first time that the
22:25Soviet Union detonated an atomic bomb
22:29was on a Mars Uranus conjunction. Um,
22:32just like the United States having a
22:35Mars Uranus conjunction in its birth
22:37chart detonated its first atomic bomb on
22:40a Mars Uranus conjunction in 1945
22:43u or or at least used the first atomic
22:46weapon in battle than um when they were
22:50dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
22:53in 1945. So, there's more to go into
22:56there, but it was just a striking
22:57instance of like a union coming together
23:01under a Venus retrograde that stationed
23:04direct in the same sign of Jupiter,
23:07which is Scorpio, which uh just provided
23:10a very interesting parallel with the
23:11United States.
23:13And of course, the US and the Soviet
23:15Union for much of the 20th century would
23:17become the two biggest global global
23:20superpowers as well as global enemies
23:23that would kind of like fight during the
23:24course of the rest of the 20th century.
23:27All right, moving forward. 1938. This is
23:30a really important Venus retrograde one
23:32that's important for astrologers to
23:33internalize because this one uh was
23:36really about the Munich agreement and
23:38this period of appeasement basically
23:42where um the prime minister of Britain
23:47of the United Kingdom uh Chamberlain and
23:50Hitler. So Hitler was in power in
23:52Germany and Hitler was already making
23:54military moves and the Europeans were
23:57trying to avert another world war and
24:00they thought that they could. So they
24:01started appeasing Hitler and basically
24:03just giving him whatever he wanted. So
24:06under this Venus retrograde in 19 in the
24:08fall of 1938
24:10um Chamberlain and Hitler signed this
24:12desperate treaty of appeasement to to
24:15avoid war. And it was, this is
24:17essentially the shadowy sort of like
24:19deal with the devil that brought a very
24:22temporary peace for like the next few
24:24months, but ultimately failed
24:26catastrophically because the next world
24:28war would begin basically the next year
24:31when when Hitler invaded Poland and then
24:35all of the different treaties with the
24:38allies in Poland started kicking in. Um,
24:41additionally, this is also a failure
24:44because right not long after um the
24:47Munich agreement in early November
24:51um in Germany crystal knocked happened
24:54where there was like um
24:58the the Nazis used
25:00somebody being killed like a a
25:02mid-ranking Nazi was killed and the
25:04Nazis used this as an excuse basically
25:08in order to orchestrate what's called
25:10the night of broken glass where all
25:13across Germany and Austria and other
25:16places they started destroying hundreds
25:19of synagogue of Jewish synagogues
25:21looting thou th th th th th th th th th
25:22th th th th th th th th th th th th th
25:22th th th th th th th th th th th th th
25:22th th th th th thous thous thousands of
25:23Jewish businesses killing nearly a
25:26hundred Jews and in turning 30,000 men
25:29in concentration camps so this Venus
25:33retrograde in Scorpio in 1938 was not
25:36just just dark because of it was like
25:38the period of appeasement of some of the
25:42western powers attempting to plate
25:44Hitler to put off a world war. They
25:46thought even though Hitler was fully
25:48intent on military expansion at this
25:51point. But this was also the point
25:53during this Venus retrograde where what
25:56had been largely political persecution
26:00of Jews and other figures up to this
26:03point under Nazi Germany suddenly turned
26:06to very tangible extreme um actual like
26:10physical persecution and the early
26:12phases of what would become essentially
26:15the Holocaust. So that's a really dark
26:18Venus retrograde there in the later part
26:20of 1938.
26:22All right, so moving on. 1954 was the
26:25Formosa resolution. This is when um the
26:29US basically signed a mutual defense
26:32pact with um Taiwan in or and this ended
26:38up averting what's called the first
26:40strait crisis where China um was
26:45potentially going to move into more of a
26:47direct military confrontation or
26:49invasion of Taiwan and then the US
26:52signed a pact basically saying that they
26:54would defend Taiwan if they were um if
26:58they were invaded. And that ended up
27:02basically putting off or making it so
27:04that China didn't invade Taiwan at the
27:06time. But this one's kind of important
27:09just because of that means there's a bit
27:11of a signature here for Venus retrograde
27:13in Scorpio and the complex relationship
27:16between China, Taiwan, and the United
27:19States, which is, you know, an ongoing
27:22issue today and and will very obviously
27:26continue to be uh as world events un
27:29evolve and unfold over the next few
27:31years. So, we'll see how that goes
27:33during this upcoming Venus retrograde in
27:34Scorpio later this year.
27:37All right. Um, another major one,
27:39perhaps the actually the biggest one on
27:41this list is 1962
27:43during that retrograde later in the year
27:45was the Cuban missile crisis. So this is
27:48basically like the absolute peak of cold
27:52war brinkmanship between the US and
27:55Russia where there was this incredibly
27:58tense 13 days around the time of the
28:01Venus retrograde in Scorpio where
28:04humanity was on the brink of just allout
28:07thermonuclear war between the the
28:09world's two main nuclear superpowers
28:12and then it was only resolved through
28:16these really highly secretive
28:18back channel diplomacy agreements
28:22between the the leaders of of the US and
28:26Russia, between JFK and Kruev and um and
28:31it involved an agreement that the US
28:33made to like take some missiles out of
28:36out of Turkey and and in exchange um
28:40Russia turned some ships back that were
28:42headed towards Cuba and it was it was
28:45basically a big mess. You can look it
28:47up. I don't have to go into it, but it
28:48was it was basically the closest that
28:52the US and Russia ever came to an open
28:54nuclear war during this Venus
28:56retrograde, but then it was like turned
29:00around suddenly at the last minute
29:03through back channel agreements.
29:06All right. So um similarly 1978 had
29:10something similar happen with a couple
29:12of things involving Jimmy Carter's
29:15investigation where on the one hand he
29:18um during the course of this retrograde
29:20in the later part of 1978 he basically
29:22sequestered the leaders of Israel and
29:24Egypt for these intense highly secretive
29:27negotiations
29:28which resulted in a historic Middle East
29:31peace treaty between the two countries
29:34and then interestingly that wasn't the
29:36only like back panel secret negotiations
29:38he was involved in. But it turned out
29:40that weeks later um around the time of
29:42Venus's direct station in Scorpio in
29:45December, which was actually conjunct
29:47Uranus that time, the US shocked the
29:50world by announcing that they'd been in
29:53secret negotiations
29:55which eventually led to having full
29:57diplomatic relations with China. Um but
30:01it also involved pulling back on some of
30:04their rel with some of their
30:05relationship and agreements with Taiwan
30:08which then caused um a bunch of like
30:11political
30:13um issues in the US and like parts of
30:16Congress rebelled against Carter's
30:18agreement and and set up alternative
30:20agreements with Taiwan. But again, it's
30:24another one of those basically those
30:25repetitions
30:27where um it's a repetition of the 1954
30:31one where things are happening under the
30:34Venus retrograde in Scorpio in terms of
30:36the relationship and the shifting
30:38alliances and agreements between the US,
30:42China and Taiwan.
30:44So that further heightens the likelihood
30:47of other similar things like that in the
30:50future especially with this upcoming
30:51Venus retrograde. And um one of the
30:55reasons for that is that v uh China with
30:57the current chart of China from the mid
31:0120th century has Venus in Scorpio. It's
31:04not retrograde but if the time is
31:06correct it may be in the 10th house of
31:08the chart. So that may be one of the
31:09reasons why um China in particular could
31:12be sensitive to Venus retrograde through
31:14Scorpio transits.
31:16Um okay so two more. One of them in 1986
31:20was the Reiki summit between Reagan and
31:23Gorbachov where they met for this
31:26dramatic like allight set of
31:28negotiations
31:30that unexpectedly almost came to the
31:33very brink of eliminating all nuclear
31:36weapons. like the negotiations came
31:39incredibly close to making major
31:42sweeping
31:44um not just motions but basically like
31:47actions to remove nuclear weapons from
31:50the table after decades of building up
31:54to the brink of potentially like
31:55destroying humanity if if the two
31:57countries had started shooting at each
31:59other due to the doctrine of mutually
32:01assured uh destruction.
32:04But then basically at the last minute
32:06they got hung up on one point that they
32:08couldn't get through and the
32:11negotiations like fell apart at the last
32:13minute. So it was like an agreement that
32:16almost happened but then it was averted
32:19or or aborted or or cancelled out in
32:22some way with the Venus retrograde.
32:24Although this agreement did end up
32:28setting the stage for some subsequent
32:30agreements that would take place over
32:32the next few years that would li put
32:34some limits on nuclear weapons between
32:37the two countries. So it wasn't a
32:39complete loss. And then finally in 1994
32:44um similarly during that Venus
32:46retrograde in Scorpio you the Ukraine
32:50not the Ukraine Ukraine the country of
32:52Ukraine formally surrendered the world's
32:55third largest nuclear arsenal in
32:58exchange for guarantees about its
33:00borders which famously became really
33:04tragic and unfortunate later when those
33:07agreements would be violated years later
33:09when Russia would invade Ukraine, which
33:11is the the war that we're dealing with
33:14now. And weirdly, around the same time,
33:19uh, Jimmy Carter negotiated a peaceful
33:23stepdown of a military juna in in Haiti
33:27when the US had planes literally in the
33:30air mid-flight to do a violent like
33:34military invasion of Haiti to overthrow
33:37the military Ja. And Jimmy Carter as
33:40former president was somehow able to do
33:42some back channel negotiations in order
33:46to arrange a peaceful solution and
33:49stepdown of the leadership which averted
33:52major bloodshed that otherwise would
33:54have happened so that when the US forces
33:57landed in Haiti shortly after that it
34:00ended up being a peaceful transition of
34:02power. So that was a positive one to
34:05sort of like end out this section on how
34:08different types of back channel
34:11negotiations can sometimes go sometimes
34:14in being successful and helping to avert
34:17disaster and other times um not being so
34:21successful or resulting in situations
34:24like appeasement with Hitler that just
34:26kick the can down the road or put things
34:28off until later.
State Secrets, Espionage, and Covert Operations
34:31Okay, the next section I want to talk
34:33about has to do with state secrets,
34:36themes of espionage, and also covert
34:38operations.
34:40So, it's kind of like adjacent to the
34:42previous one, but less in a diplomat
34:44diplomatic sense and more in the
34:46recurring themes of like
34:49spies and things behind the scenes
34:51coming up. So, for example, in 1970
34:54during that um Venus retrograde in
34:58Scorpio, the the US and the CIA
35:01interfered in the government of Chile.
35:05And exactly as Venus was stationing
35:07retrograde, the CIA basically launched
35:09this massive covert campaign to
35:12destabilize the democratically elected
35:15government uh in Chile at the time
35:18through political assassinations and
35:20through shadowy invisible uh blockades
35:24of economic sabotage
35:27where they kind of like tried one set of
35:30things to overthrow a government the
35:32government and it didn't work at the
35:34beginning of the Venus retrograde in
35:36Scorpio and then by later once it was
35:38stationing direct the US shifted to a
35:41covert strategy of doing like economic
35:45espionage which eventually like a few
35:48years later was successful and
35:50eventually led to that government being
35:52overthrown and a new I think like
35:54dictatorship coming to power basically.
35:58So that one may be relevant coming up
36:00because we know like for example the US
36:02recently announced heightened economic
36:06blockades basically and sanctions of
36:09Iran this summer and so it'll be
36:12interesting to see I I guess to what
36:14extent some similar themes come up over
36:16the course of the next few months as
36:18Venus is retrograde in Scorpio again.
36:21All right. elsewhere. 1978 during that
36:24retrograde, eight years later, there was
36:27this famous incident in like spy lore
36:32where there was this Bulgarian
36:33dissident, journalist who was jabbed in
36:37the leg suddenly by somebody with he was
36:40jabbed in the leg in London by an
36:43operative like a secret agent who was
36:45using a modified umbrella and the
36:48umbrella um shot or injected this lethal
36:52like pellet of Ryasin into his leg which
36:57subsequently killed this dissident
36:59journalist. So it was um known as like
37:03the famous like Ryasin umbrell umbrella
37:06assassination because it was such a
37:08weird situation in terms of how it was
37:11done.
37:12Um, other times, another really major
37:15one, probably one of the biggest ones,
37:17was the 1986 Venus retrograde in
37:20Scorpio, which is when the Iran Contra
37:24affair broke basically in the news and
37:26in the government, where what happened
37:29is that there was this massive shadowy
37:32conspiracy involving the US secretly
37:34selling weapons to Iran in order to fund
37:38the Contra rebels in Nicar Nicaragua,
37:41which was then during the course of this
37:44Venus retrograde got exposed to the
37:46public through this like series of
37:49events. I think it was first um exposed
37:52through like a Lebanese newspaper and
37:55then other reporters picked up the trail
37:57and it eventually blew up into this
38:00entire scandal basically which um really
38:05almost brought down the Reagan
38:06administration and did lead to some
38:09members of the Reagan administration
38:11being prosecuted.
38:14So that was a major one during the Venus
38:16retrograde in Scorpio and and what was
38:18so weird it is it was just like shadowy
38:20backroom deals coming to light basically
38:24that shouldn't have been happening based
38:27on the public relationship and
38:29antagonism between the US and Iran up to
38:32that point but then it turned out that
38:35um behind the scenes they were sort of
38:37like doing deals with each other. Uh
38:40similarly, another one that happened in
38:422010 was the Wikileaks cablegate, which
38:45is when um Wikileaks basically
38:48published, if people remember, this is
38:51like not that long ago now, this this
38:52huge trove of something like 250
38:56classified US State Department dipl
39:00diplomatic cables and documents. And it
39:03basically dragged a bunch of backroom
39:07global diplomacy into the light.
39:09Especially because some of the things
39:11they published early on that got a lot
39:13of press were like what different
39:16diplomatic people were saying about
39:18different world leaders and stuff like
39:20that behind the scenes as well as some
39:23of the different efforts the US was
39:25making in different agreements or
39:26different ways they were putting
39:28pressure on different countries and
39:30different things like that. So it was a
39:32huge disclosure during the course of
39:34that Venus retrograde and um but then
39:38that also led to all sort of stuff with
39:40like Julian Assange the leader of
39:42Wikileaks and I think by the end of that
39:44Venus retrograde he was like arrested in
39:47in December and it was a whole thing.
39:51It's like there's some of these
39:52retrogrades where I'm mentioning it, but
39:55one of the things you have to understand
39:57or or what anybody will realize if
39:59they're familiar with that news story,
40:00if they remember being there at the
40:02time, is it's often times like a series
40:06of disclosures and other things that
40:10happen over an extended period of time.
40:13uh that brings to light some like hidden
40:16or like underworldly back dealings that
40:18are happening behind the scenes.
40:21Um and then similarly under the 2018
40:24Venus retrograde was the assassination
40:27of of of
40:29Jamal Kosigible who was a dissident
40:32journalist for the Washington Post who
40:35went into a a Saudi consulate and then
40:39um was was killed and and dismembered
40:42behind closed doors. And the reality of
40:46that, it's like the event happened, but
40:49then the news reporting and the reality
40:51of it slowly came out over the course of
40:54the next few months during the course of
40:55the Venus retrograde. So, it was a
40:58really grizzly
41:00story in terms of of of that time period
41:03that evolved over over a period of time.
Political Power Shifts and Massive Wave Elections
41:07All right, so let's keep it moving. So,
41:09we're doing pretty good so far with
41:10time. Uh there's a lot, but we're
41:12getting through it pretty quick. So
41:14let's keep I'll try to keep this pace
41:16up. All right. So the next section I
41:18want to talk about has to do with
41:20something I kept noticing which was
41:22major political power shifts and
41:24sometimes massive wave elections that
41:28take place where um for example the two
41:31early ones in the 20th century were not
41:34pleasant were were pretty bad which is
41:36in 1922 during that Venus retrograde in
41:39Scorpio uh Mussolini's national fascist
41:42party orchestrates this march on Rome
41:46home and it was like this massive
41:49psychological bluff. But what ended up
41:52happening is they get there and the king
41:54basically just like de refuses to
41:58declare martial law and instead appoints
42:02Mussolini as prime minister which
42:05officially birthed the modern fascist
42:07state or or the the fascist state in
42:10that in that era of the 1930s in Italy
42:121930s and4s and then subsequently that
42:16allowed him to start just systematically
42:19uh dismantling ing all of Italy's
42:22democratic institutions from within. So
42:25that was during the Venus retrograde in
42:26Scorpio 1922. Similarly, eight years
42:29later during the Venus retrograde in
42:32Scorpio in 1930, um the Nazi party in
42:35Germany achieved this massive electoral
42:39breakthrough.
42:40um where this is in the middle of like
42:43the Great Depression and they basically
42:45uh capitalized on the collapse of the
42:48way economy in Germany and their through
42:53the votes their party skyrocketed from
42:56basically having like 12 people in the
42:59government to 107 parliamentary seats
43:03which virtually overnight just like
43:06shifted the Nazi party from a fringe
43:09faction for most of the 1920s to all of
43:13a sudden being the mainstream power that
43:17was then able to start permanently
43:19dismantling the democratic government
43:22that had been there up to that point and
43:24basically turning over o over taking
43:26over Germany. So those are two pretty
43:29dark ones in the 1920s and 1930s.
43:33And then in the United States, the Venus
43:37retrogrades in Scorpio often have to do
43:39with midterm elections. And there were
43:41some pretty notable ones. I'm not going
43:43to do a whole study of all of them here.
43:46Well, maybe I'll save that for another
43:48episode. But some of the ones that
43:49really stood out were uh 1946 there was
43:53this massive shift that were called the
43:56had enough mid midterms where um
44:00basically um the Republicans capitalized
44:03on post-war inflation and fatigue
44:07because the Democrats especially with
44:09with Franklin Delano Roosevelt had been
44:12in power for a really long time up to
44:14that point and then Roosevelt had just
44:16died in 1945. five. And um what happened
44:20is during the 1946 election when Venus
44:23was retrograde in Scorpio, the
44:25Republicans swept both chambers of
44:28Congress for the first time since 1928
44:31um in one of the the most historic
44:33midterm elections of the in the United
44:35States history. So this basically
44:38ushered in a really fiercely partisan
44:41what's sometimes referred to in history
44:42books as like the do nothing Congress
44:45which actively challenged President
44:48Truman and dismantled some of the World
44:51War II economic controls that had been
44:53in place up to that point. So that was
44:561946
44:58where basically like the Democrats had
45:00been in power for a long time and then
45:02suddenly the Republicans um the party
45:05that was not as much in power suddenly
45:08came more into power at that point.
45:10Similarly, in the 1954
45:13midterm elections, when Venus was again
45:15retrograde in Scorpio, Democrats flipped
45:18the House um during the course of
45:21President Eisenhower's first term. And
45:25this election established what became a
45:2940-year streak of unbroken Democratic
45:33majorities in that chamber of Congress
45:36that lasted for a really long time. all
45:39the way until the 40-year anniversary of
45:43that, which was a subsequent Venus
45:44retrograde that happened in 1994.
45:48And so this Venus retrograde in Scorpio
45:51in 19 1994 was not long after Bill
45:54Clinton was elected. There was what's
45:57called the Republican Revolution, which
46:00was led by N. Gingrich and his so-called
46:03contract with America. And what happened
46:06is they flipped 54 seats uh that that
46:10ended the the Democratic streak that had
46:13been lasting for like 40 years at that
46:15point since 1954.
46:17And this um sweeping wave sort of
46:20ushered in this new aggressively
46:23partisan and sort of confrontational era
46:26of modern politics where usually like
46:28most historians at this point or most
46:30political commentators look back to the
46:321994 election as being part of where
46:35that shift took place.
46:38Um similarly in 2010 you know it's like
46:41Obama had just been elected in 2008. So
46:45then 2010 is the f is the midterm that
46:47takes place after that and this was the
46:50Venus retrograde in Scorpio in the later
46:53part of 2010. And what happened is that
46:55the Tea Party movement had really taken
46:58off especially early that year and the
47:01midterms had this massive wave where
47:04there was a 63 seat Republican swing in
47:08in Republicans favor. So that was
47:11actually historically the largest single
47:14legislative swing since 1948.
47:17um which even President Obama at the
47:20time he he commented on it and he said
47:22that they had taken a real shellacking
47:25basically at the at the polls in terms
47:27of the push back in the number of
47:30Republicans that were brought into
47:32office at that time which then really
47:35ground to a halt a lot of his ability to
47:37push through new legislation after that
47:40time.
47:42Um similarly the other one I wanted to
47:43highlight that really stood out was
47:452018.
47:46So this was the midterm election after
47:50Trump had been elected the first time in
47:522016. And in 2018, this was the the
47:56what's sometimes called the pink wave or
47:58the blue wave election where the this
48:02this set of midterms handed control of
48:04the House back to the Democrats who
48:07picked up 41 seats. And this was the
48:11first election that took place after the
48:14the MeToo movement had really exploded
48:17the previous year. And there was also at
48:20the time outrage over the uh Kavanaaugh
48:24hearings for the Supreme Court where
48:27around that Venus retrograde station
48:29some some dark stuff came out about his
48:31past or some dark allegations were made
48:33about things he may have done in the
48:35past. And um as a result of that, this
48:39election ended up shattering a lot of um
48:43like history books levels because what
48:45happened is 102 women were ushered into
48:49Congress at this time. So there's not
48:51just it was not just a shift in the
48:53Democrats favor, but during this Venus
48:56retrograde in Scorpio, a huge amount of
48:58women were brought into office in
49:01Congress at this time. And that actually
49:05ties in with the very next event that
49:07I'll mention in the very next section,
49:08but I'll wind that down here and we'll
49:12we'll switch to the next section after
49:14this.
Women's Rights, Queer Liberation, and Cultural Reckonings
49:16All right. The next major topic I saw
49:17come up a lot was uh women's rights,
49:21queer liberation, and cultural
49:23reckonings during these Venus
49:25retrogrades in Scorpio over the past
49:26century. So, the first one was was
49:29really early on. And it was a really
49:31cool one that I saw which was in 1915
49:36when Venus was retrograde in Scorpio
49:38during the later part of that year. The
49:40US House held its first ever floor vote
49:44on a federal constitutional amendment to
49:48grant women the right to vote. And it
49:50ended up um failing at the time. it
49:53didn't go through, but it ended up
49:55laying the groundwork so that that would
49:57actually happen over the course of the
49:59next decade. And it was a major step um
50:03[clears throat] because partially at
50:04that point they were able to get
50:05everybody to commit to voting one way or
50:08another. And then the suffrage the
50:10women's suffrage movement could then
50:12sort of like target, you know, which
50:15seats to focus on in the future, which
50:18then was was successful uh over the
50:21course of the next decade. in in
50:22eventually getting women the right to
50:24vote. So that's a really interesting
50:27connection with our last one from 2018.
50:29If you think about it, it's like 1915 is
50:32like the US holding its first ever um
50:36vote basically on on whether to give
50:39women the right to vote. Whereas in 2018
50:42during the Venus retrograde in the same
50:44sign in in a repetition
50:47literally a century later we get this
50:49historic wave of 102 women being ushered
50:52into Congress which is pretty cool.
50:56So similar thing the themes in like 1947
51:00for example um in Canada there was this
51:04um citizenship act which came into
51:07effect during this Venus retrograde and
51:09it created this groundbreaking shift in
51:12terms of civil rights by allowing
51:14married Canadian women to hold their own
51:16independent citizenship status rather
51:19than automatically losing it if they
51:22married a non-citizen.
51:24So again, it's more specific to to a
51:27certain country, but it's like women
51:29getting more rights basically and
51:32getting more civil rights during the
51:33course of a Venus retrograde and having
51:36some old rules revisited and revised or
51:39in some instances rejected in order to
51:42grant uh women greater freedoms and
51:45greater civil liberties.
51:48So elsewhere, um, a really sad one was
51:52in 1978 and during the course of this
51:54Venus retrograde in Scorpio, this was
51:57the the Harvey Milk assassination
52:01where um there was this former
52:04supervisor who snuck into city hall and
52:08he basically assassinated the mayor as
52:11well as the supervisor of San Francisco
52:14who was Harvey Mil. And Harvey Mil is
52:17famous today in like the history books
52:19for being uh the very first openly gay
52:22elected or one of the first openly gay
52:25elected officials in in the United
52:26States. And then this plunged the city
52:29into major uh civil trauma and protests
52:34and other things like that. So that's
52:37more of a negative or or sort of
52:39depressing in instance of a Venus
52:41retrograde, but it was an important one
52:44because of of what happened and how it
52:46impacted people, but also then how it in
52:50in some ways um energized people to make
52:54more change in the future and to change
52:57things.
52:59All right, so moving on. Another similar
53:01one, the the 1986 one, one I really
53:04loved learning about was this was the
53:07Venus retrograde where during the course
53:10of that fall, um Oprah Winfrey starts
53:14her nationally syndicated show. And what
53:17was cool about this is that eight years
53:19earlier, Oprah started like a local
53:22show, like a local television show or
53:26talk show. But then what happened when
53:28that same Venus retrograde recurred
53:30eight years later in 1986
53:33is suddenly she got a nationally
53:35syndicated talk show which was seen by
53:39uh uh people all over the country by by
53:42viewers all over the country. And one of
53:45the things about this that was very
53:46Venus retrograde in Scorpio is that
53:48Oprah was willing to talk about really
53:52difficult things especially in the lives
53:55of women. And at one point during the
53:57course of this Venus retrograde, she um
54:00she spontaneously like opened up and
54:03revealed her own um experience of
54:06childhood abuse on national television.
54:10And this kind of um set a new precedent
54:12in terms of shattering this precedent of
54:15like silence and deep social stigma
54:19surrounding those topics. and she um
54:23Oprah in her birth chart has Mars and
54:25Saturn and Scorpio in the same sign. And
54:28I think if I remember correctly, Venus
54:31was like retrograde and exactly
54:32conjoining her natal Saturn when she
54:35made that disclosure.
54:37But um so that was part of what that was
54:39about, but it was also a broader thing
54:41about her talk show during that that 3
54:44or 4 month period at the end of 1986
54:47just becoming this national sensation.
54:50And she was willing to talk about
54:53sensitive stuff like that or or other
54:55things. And that was one of the things
54:57that uh especially women at the time
54:59found really endearing for her and
55:01eventually turned her into um like her
55:04openness and and willing to go there was
55:06part of what turned her into the
55:08national sensation that she would become
55:10by the end of the century where I
55:12believe by the end of the century she
55:14became the richest
55:17um black woman of like the 20th century
55:20basically.
55:21And there's some other interesting stuff
55:24there about like in December she did
55:26like a 60 Minutes interview. So it was
55:28like her profile had raised enough that
55:31by the time Venus is stationing direct
55:34um she's being interviewed on 60 Minutes
55:36for being this like sudden sensation.
55:38And even um during the course of that
55:40Venus retrograde, I think she she also
55:43started dating her what would become her
55:46long-term partner named Steedman. So,
55:49there's lots of like cool stuff there
55:50that would make for an interesting study
55:51about Oprah at some point and how the
55:54Venus retrogrades in Scorpio have been
55:55important for her.
55:58All right, moving forward, jumping eight
56:00years forward to 1994, there were a
56:02couple of sort of parallel things that
56:04happened under this Venus retrograde in
56:05Scorpio that were tough but important.
56:08One of them was the landmark Violence
56:11Against Women Act was signed into law at
56:14this time.
56:16And one of the primary senators who was
56:18like promoting it at this time was a
56:21younger Joe Biden who had not just a a
56:26stellium in the sign of Scorpio but also
56:29was born with Venus in Scorpio. And this
56:33event kind of dovetailed with another
56:36one that was taking place in the media
56:37at the same time, which is that uh
56:40during the course of that Venus
56:41retrograde, jury the jury selection
56:44process began for the OJ Simpson trial.
56:48And um there was a lot of national
56:51discussions that were taking place about
56:53like domestic violence and and abuse and
56:57different things like that that were
56:59sort of like really dominating the media
57:01headlines during the course of this
57:02Venus retrograde in Scorpio. And OJ
57:06Simpson later was famously like
57:08acquitted but then um found guilty in a
57:12civil trial I believe for murdering his
57:15wife um Nicole Simpson or Nicole Brown
57:19Simpson.
57:20So that was a tough one but it gives you
57:23an idea of some of the themes that can
57:25sometimes come up during some of these
57:26Venus retrogrades. And sometimes there's
57:29difficult things, but then al also
57:31sometimes there's progress like the
57:33passage of this um violence against
57:35women act, which was pretty landmark at
57:37the time. Of course, there's other
57:39parallel things because also issues of
57:41like like racism with with the police
57:44came up during the course of the OJ
57:46Simpson trial. And that's another topic
57:48in terms of um racial racism and issues
57:53surrounding it coming up sometimes
57:54during Venus retrograde in Scorpio that
57:56I'll talk about I think in in one of the
57:58next sections.
58:01All right. So, moving forward, 20210,
58:05um Obama signed the repeal of the don't
58:09ask, don't tell policy, basically where
58:12he got rid of don't ask don't tell,
58:15which permanently allowed uh gay,
58:18lesbian, and bisexual Americans to serve
58:21openly in the armed forces where up to
58:24that point there was like this bizarre
58:27rule where it's like you could be gay as
58:30long as you kept secret or something
58:32like that in the military for the past
58:34like 17 years leading up to that point.
58:38Um, but finally in December after Venus
58:41station direct in Scorpio, Obama
58:43repealed it, which was one of his like
58:45campaign promises in 2008. And one of
58:48the things that's interesting about that
58:49from earlier in that fall with the Venus
58:53retrograde in Scorpio just before before
58:55it went retrograde is that Lady Gaga did
58:59the famous she showed up at like the MTV
59:02Video Music Awards famously with this
59:04like meat this dress made out of raw
59:06meat and it's always remembered as like
59:08the meat dress at the time. But what's
59:11often not remembered is she actually
59:13said it was she was protesting the don't
59:15ask don't tell policy and I believe that
59:18she she showed up with or was
59:20accompanied by four uh former members of
59:24the military who were were gay or
59:26lesbian who had been um discharged from
59:30the military as a result of their sexual
59:31orientation. So, so part of what was
59:34happening is like at the beginning of
59:35this Venus retrograde in Scorpio earlier
59:37in the fall, Lady Gaga is like
59:39protesting don't ask, don't tell, and
59:42she's also trying to like contribute to
59:45the the effort by putting pressure on
59:48certain senators that were going to be
59:50important in terms of not blocking that.
59:52And then by a few months later, by the
59:55end of the Venus retrograde in Scorpio,
59:56once it's stationing direct, Obama
59:58officially signs the the repeal of that
1:00:01policy.
1:00:03All right, moving on. The next one was
1:00:05pretty tough. And this was in 2018. One
1:00:08of the main like hallmarks of that Venus
1:00:10retrograde in Scorpio was that um the
1:00:14the the nation was really gripped by the
1:00:17Brett Kavanaaugh hearings where uh Brett
1:00:21Kavanaaugh was like nominated to become
1:00:23a Supreme Court justice. But then there
1:00:27were these hearings for it basically and
1:00:30a woman named Dr. Christine Blazley Ford
1:00:33came forth and she testified about past
1:00:36sexual assault during the Supreme Court
1:00:39uh confirmation process which exposed
1:00:43um you know some of the real raw
1:00:45cultural divisions that were really
1:00:48coming up in the the postme era which
1:00:52had really emerged over the past year
1:00:54prior to that. Um but then you know but
1:00:57then he was still nominated basically or
1:01:00or still approved and became a Supreme
1:01:03Court justice despite that in the middle
1:01:05of the Venus retrograde subsequently.
1:01:09So that Venus retrograde though as I
1:01:11said was the same retrograde in which
1:01:15102 women were elected to Congress which
1:01:19was historic and that was partially fed
1:01:22by the Kavanaaugh hearings that were
1:01:24happening at the same time and just the
1:01:26sense of outrage that many women had
1:01:29that there was a woman uh sort of coming
1:01:30forward and reporting this and then the
1:01:34that the nomination still took place.
1:01:39Um, and then one other smaller but still
1:01:42important and relevant story that I
1:01:44found while I was researching that also
1:01:46happened during the the course of the
1:01:482018 Venus retrograde in Scorpio was the
1:01:51Tokyo Medical University scandal where
1:01:55um it early on in the retrograde, it got
1:01:57exposed that there was this prestigious
1:02:01medical university in Japan that was
1:02:04systematically altering the entrance
1:02:06exam scores for like more than a decade
1:02:10in order to intentionally suppress the
1:02:13enrollment of of more women into their
1:02:16program and in order to bring more men
1:02:18into it instead. And this came out and
1:02:21then it became a whole controversy
1:02:23during the course of that Venus
1:02:24retrograde in Scorpio in 2018.
1:02:28So, um, that's, yeah, that's one of the
1:02:30major themes of sometimes these major
1:02:33scandals coming up, but then also
1:02:35sometimes major progress being made in
1:02:38certain areas as well.
Racial Justice, Desegregation, and Civil Rights Struggles
1:02:42All right, let's move on to the next
1:02:43section, which has to do with themes I
1:02:46was see seeing that kept coming up that
1:02:48involved racial justice, desegregation,
1:02:51and civil rights struggles.
1:02:53So um right at the beginning in 1906 one
1:02:58of the interesting ones I noticed was
1:02:59that Mahatma Gandhi coined the term
1:03:03Satya Graha which essentially means
1:03:06nonviolent resistance in order to
1:03:08characterize his political movement
1:03:11while he was living in South Africa. So,
1:03:14I thought that was really interesting
1:03:15like the Venus retrograde in Scorpio and
1:03:17and this one was also still in Sagge,
1:03:19but that but that idea of nonviolent
1:03:22resistance emerging at this time
1:03:25under what was essentially the first
1:03:28Venus retrograde where it started in
1:03:30Sagittarius and and went back into
1:03:32Scorpio. And then there was there was
1:03:34actually a lot of there was like at
1:03:35least two or three subsequent things
1:03:38subsequent Venus retrogrades in Scorpio
1:03:40over that century that ended up being
1:03:42really important in terms of Gandhi and
1:03:45in terms of um some of the efforts to uh
1:03:49liberate India basically from from
1:03:52colonialism.
1:03:54um under the same 1906 Venus retrograde
1:03:56in Scorpio, the Atlanta
1:03:59race massacre basically occurred at that
1:04:02time where uh a a group of thugs
1:04:06basically who were spurred by
1:04:08sensationalist local newspaper reports,
1:04:12this whole like armed white mob went and
1:04:15terrorized this black community in
1:04:17Atlanta and massacred a bunch of people.
1:04:21And this tragedy though, one of the
1:04:23positive things that happened subsequent
1:04:25to it is it galvanized some figures
1:04:27which ended up leading to the creation
1:04:30of some things such as the Alphafi Alpha
1:04:34uh fraternity which is the first black
1:04:36inter college fraternity in the US and
1:04:40this then became a cornerstone of black
1:04:42civil leadership. So, um, that was a
1:04:46theme I saw come up a few different
1:04:48times. And this Venus retrograde 1906 is
1:04:51still largely in Sagittarius.
1:04:54So, I saw a few different times like
1:04:56more um, educational and travel and
1:04:59other themes coming up during this time.
1:05:02So, for example, under the same 1906
1:05:04Venus retrograde in Sagittarius and
1:05:07Scorpio was the San Francisco
1:05:09segregation crisis, where for some
1:05:12really stupid reason, the San Francisco
1:05:14public school board triggered this
1:05:17international diplomatic crisis by
1:05:20ordering Japanese students into
1:05:23segregated schools. And this ended up
1:05:25during the course of the Venus
1:05:27retrograde causing an international
1:05:29incident with Japan. and the President
1:05:32Theodore Roosevelt ended up having to
1:05:34intervene in order to prevent a greater
1:05:37escalation with Japan at that time. And
1:05:41so it had to do with racism not just
1:05:44against Japanese people but also um
1:05:47Korean people were targeted as well as
1:05:49Chinese people who had historically been
1:05:52the subject of of racism and segregation
1:05:55for for decades up to that point as
1:05:57well.
1:05:59All right. So, jumping forward, um,
1:06:01another big one was in 1992
1:06:05was the Rosewood massacre where there
1:06:08was this this false allegation that took
1:06:11place and then an armed white mob um
1:06:14stormed and systematically burned down
1:06:17this entire prosperous black town of
1:06:21Rosewood, which is in the state of
1:06:23Florida, and basically burnt the entire
1:06:26town to the ground, erasing it from the
1:06:28map. And this massacre interestingly was
1:06:33actively suppressed like the
1:06:35documentation and knowledge of it was
1:06:37was suppressed after that point
1:06:40especially by the state all the way
1:06:42until 72 years later in 1994 where there
1:06:46was a Venus retrograde in Scorpio
1:06:49and Florida during that Venus retrograde
1:06:51in Scorpio which was a recurrence became
1:06:54the first US state to offer financial
1:06:57rep reparations ations to survivors of
1:07:00the massacre.
1:07:01So, um there was also like a a movie
1:07:04that was made about that in the 1990s
1:07:06and other things like that, but it was
1:07:08like a long process of eventually
1:07:12documenting what had happened and like
1:07:14greater awareness of it coming about
1:07:16later in the century after occurring,
1:07:19you know, way earlier in the 1920s in
1:07:211922.
1:07:23Um, another interesting one that I saw
1:07:25that I didn't know a lot about before,
1:07:27but I thought I found fascinating was
1:07:28the Venus retrograde in Scorpio in 1930.
1:07:33And what happened is on the exact day
1:07:35that Venus stationed retrograde, there
1:07:38was uh a king in in in Ethiopia named
1:07:42Ross Tafari Mcnonan
1:07:46who was crowned as Haley Salasi
1:07:48Imperthia.
1:07:52And this crowning of him as emperor was
1:07:55like widely covered and publicized in
1:07:58the media where it became like this
1:08:01global almost spectacle. It was
1:08:05interesting because the um the the
1:08:08publicization of it had some unintended
1:08:11side effects where um later on over the
1:08:14course of that decade, it ended up
1:08:16directly inspiring the Rostafarian
1:08:20movement in Jamaica who viewed this
1:08:23emperor as a religious figure and as a
1:08:25source of of inspiration and then it
1:08:28ended up inspiring um anti-colonial
1:08:33resistance and and black pride and other
1:08:35themes like that. But it was interesting
1:08:37that the the coronation happened exactly
1:08:41the day of the the Venus station and it
1:08:44was something that was like widely
1:08:46publicized and known about and it was
1:08:48one of those events that really caught
1:08:51my eye similar to like how for example
1:08:54the day of the Venus retrograde station
1:08:58um in Sagittarius in another year was
1:09:01when they found like the first steps to
1:09:05the entrance to the tomb of the ancient
1:09:08Egyptian pharaoh toutin common. So
1:09:11sometimes these themes of like eminence
1:09:13and and people in power, but also the
1:09:17royal regalia and different things like
1:09:19that are are some of the themes that can
1:09:22come up during the Venus stations. But
1:09:24also one thing I kept noticing is that
1:09:26sometimes something will happen on a
1:09:28Venus station like an event but there
1:09:30will be artistic or cultural or
1:09:34religious or other things that that will
1:09:37influence that won't become visible
1:09:40until years later until se several years
1:09:43later. So for example with that one uh
1:09:45inspiring the Rostafarian movement or
1:09:49even aesthetically like the discovery of
1:09:52that Egyptian pharaoh causing um or or
1:09:55leading to the art deco movement or
1:09:57influencing artistic directions in the
1:09:591920s for example.
1:10:02All right, jumping forward 1962 during
1:10:05that Venus retrograde. This was the
1:10:07integration of a college where a student
1:10:12named James Meredith registered as the
1:10:14first black student at the University of
1:10:16Mississippi. And this was during
1:10:19Kennedy's administration. And it and
1:10:22what happened is it required federal
1:10:24troops and US marshals to basically like
1:10:28overpower defiant state segregationists.
1:10:32And um as a result of that, he was able
1:10:35to attend college there and finish his
1:10:37degree his degree. Um so this is a like
1:10:41a major turning point in terms of um
1:10:43segregation and especially school
1:10:45segregation and breaking that up in the
1:10:481960s.
1:10:49And then weeks later towards the end of
1:10:51the Venus retrograde, I think once it
1:10:53had stationed um after facing mounting
1:10:56pressure from civil rights leaders,
1:10:58President Kennedy signed an executive
1:11:00order that officially banned racial
1:11:03discrimination in federally funded
1:11:05housing. So that was another really
1:11:07important one that was happening again
1:11:10during the course of this Venus
1:11:11retrograde where oftent times it's like
1:11:13a series of things that are happening
1:11:16rather than just a singular event.
1:11:19Um elsewhere jumping forward to 1986
1:11:22uh when anti-aparttheid leader Desmond
1:11:25Tutu was enthroned as archbishop in
1:11:28South Africa and then he subsequently
1:11:31used his international pulpit to demand
1:11:34sanctions against the apartheid regime
1:11:37in South Africa. So this was um again
1:11:41similar and it was kind of it was
1:11:42reminiscent to me of um earlier when
1:11:46when the when Haley Salassie was um
1:11:50crowned as emperor of Ethiopia. you have
1:11:53this interesting like similar like
1:11:55figure here being crowned but in this
1:11:56instance like a religious figure and one
1:11:59of the things it reminded me of seeing
1:12:01some of the religious things come up
1:12:03sometimes is um that in some of the
1:12:06Hellenistic astrologers like Vadius
1:12:08Valins they actually associate some
1:12:10elements of the religious functions and
1:12:13religious priests with Venus with the
1:12:16planet Venus that had more of a
1:12:18religious function in ancient astrology
1:12:20than we sometimes think of it today But
1:12:22these are some instances where where
1:12:24sometimes that really can come up. Um,
1:12:27all right, jumping forward two more.
1:12:29There's one in 2002. This was when um US
1:12:33Senator Trent Lot resigned
1:12:36even though he was the incoming Senate
1:12:38majority leader after this bipartisan
1:12:41uproar took place when he praised like
1:12:44the the 1948 segregationist presidential
1:12:48campaign of another senator or or of not
1:12:52another senator but another politician.
1:12:54So he basically like praised this
1:12:56campaign, but then everybody pointed out
1:12:59that that was a campaign that was really
1:13:01much focused on on segregation being a
1:13:03good thing. So it drew widespread
1:13:06condemnation and then he he was forced
1:13:09to resign.
1:13:11Uh elsewhere, one last one. Um, this
1:13:14ties back in with the previous story
1:13:17where um, James Meredith was able to
1:13:20register at the University of
1:13:22Mississippi as a student in 19 1962.
1:13:26Um, but what happened is in 2018 on
1:13:29October 5th of that year when the Venus
1:13:32retrograde in Scorpio recurred exactly
1:13:3556 years later um he was formally
1:13:39inducted into the university's alumni
1:13:43hall of fame. Uh basically recognizing
1:13:48him as being the first student that was
1:13:50like integrated into the school at that
1:13:52time during the course of of
1:13:54desegregation.
1:13:55So this is an important thing that we
1:13:57sometimes see in terms of recurrences is
1:14:00sometimes
1:14:01um something will happen or somebody
1:14:03will do something or be the first to do
1:14:06something during a Venus retrograde in
1:14:07Scorpio and sometimes it'll be something
1:14:09that's really difficult or or dangerous
1:14:12but then um it'll set a precedent and
1:14:15then years later when the Venus
1:14:17retrograde in Scorpio recurs they'll
1:14:20sometimes be recognized for that or
1:14:22receive some recognition for it and we
1:14:25see that here or we see that with um as
1:14:28I said with like Florida in one of the
1:14:30previous ones recognizing
1:14:33um that town and paying restitution to
1:14:36to the survivors or some of the
1:14:38residents who were survivors of that
1:14:40massacre at that time. And I'll do a
1:14:43little section later if I have time and
1:14:45don't run out of steam on other
1:14:47repetitions in order to collect some of
1:14:49these together to show you other ones
1:14:51that I found as well cuz I actually
1:14:52found a bunch.
1:14:55All right, let's keep things moving. So,
1:14:57I'm um I'm kind of doing just like a
1:14:59very top level initial description of
1:15:03each of these events cuz I decided to do
1:15:05that rather than almost any one of these
1:15:08I could drill into much more to talk
1:15:10about the details and the nuances. But I
1:15:13thought it would be better to to give an
1:15:15like a brief overview of as many as
1:15:17possible rather than just focusing on
1:15:20individual ones to give you more of a
1:15:22sense of the full scope and breadth of
1:15:25of what these Venus retrogrades can mean
1:15:27in Scorpio.
Poisons, Pollution, and Ecological Reckonings
1:15:29So let's move on to the next section
1:15:31where some themes I kept seeing come up
1:15:33involved poisons, pollution, and
1:15:36ecological reckonings.
1:15:39So for example the very first one this
1:15:42is towards the very tail end of like the
1:15:44signbased Venus retrograde but it may
1:15:47still be relevant which is in 1915
1:15:51Germany makes the first largecale use of
1:15:54poison gas in warfare where they
1:15:56deployed uh tear gas against Russian
1:15:59troops at the battle of Bolau. So, this
1:16:04was the first major widespread use of
1:16:06poison gas um just after this Venus
1:16:09retrograde had taken place. And so,
1:16:12sometimes it's like when you see an
1:16:14event happening towards the end of the
1:16:15retrograde or the later part of that
1:16:17cycle, it means that there was like a
1:16:19period of of intense development and
1:16:21stuff that led up to it in the few
1:16:23months before that, which is probably
1:16:25what took place here. All right. So,
1:16:27moving forward, a big one, one of the
1:16:30most impressive ones I found, which
1:16:32connects two 8-year cycles, was in 1962,
1:16:37there was a marine biologist named
1:16:39Rachel Carson who published a landmark
1:16:42book which exposed the hidden and deadly
1:16:46effects of toxic and especially um a
1:16:49aerosol pesticides like DDT
1:16:54and the effect that these pesticides
1:16:55were having on the natural world and
1:16:58this basically like kickstarted the
1:17:00contemporary grass move grassroots
1:17:03movement for um environmentalism.
1:17:07So she basically cuz up to this point
1:17:10this is like ever since like World War
1:17:13II and after that um pesticides and
1:17:17stuff were just being used like crazy to
1:17:19get rid of mosquitoes and other things
1:17:20like that and there was an assumption
1:17:22that these things were were safe
1:17:25basically. But all of a sudden, this
1:17:28scientist publishes this book, and it's
1:17:31one of the first books. It's one of the
1:17:32like few books in American history where
1:17:35there's a few books like this or like
1:17:37Uncle Tom's Cabin for example in the
1:17:391800s that really um are are so big that
1:17:45they actually cause major it's such a
1:17:48big expose that they cause actual
1:17:52tangible and lasting political change
1:17:55because over a very short span of time
1:17:58it it alerts people to like dangers that
1:18:01are happening to bad things that are
1:18:03happening that they didn't know
1:18:04otherwise. And in this instance, it had
1:18:06to do with uh basically toxic pesticides
1:18:10and how that was destroying
1:18:12um entire ecosystems, but how that also
1:18:16then could affect humans in negative
1:18:18ways. And so what's interesting is that
1:18:20was the Venus retrograde in Scorpio of
1:18:221962, but then eight years later in
1:18:261970, that Venus retrograde in Scorpio
1:18:29repeats. And then um what happens is is
1:18:33that the Environmental Protection Agency
1:18:37is established in the United States
1:18:39specifically for the purpose of cleaning
1:18:41up pollution and and toxicity in the
1:18:44earth and in the air and in the water
1:18:48uh in in reaction to the the movement
1:18:52and to the disclosures that started
1:18:55eight years earlier in 1962 with the
1:18:57publication of Rachel Carson's book
1:19:00Silent spring. So, that was that's one
1:19:02of the most brilliant connections
1:19:04between two
1:19:06um an eight-year cycle basically of like
1:19:09Venus retrograde h happening and then a
1:19:12major event taking place and then it's
1:19:14starting a movement in this instance
1:19:16like an environment the environmental
1:19:18movement which then culminates in like
1:19:20this really major government entity of
1:19:23the the EPA being formed exactly 8 years
1:19:26later at the repetition of that same
1:19:29Venus retrograde in Scorpio.
1:19:31So, I thought that was really cool and
1:19:32that was one of the most compelling
1:19:35repetitions basically in an 8-year
1:19:38period that I found in researching this
1:19:40particular cycle.
1:19:42Um, all right. Other there's a couple
1:19:44somewhat related ones. One of them was
1:19:46in 2002 involving toxic gas where in
1:19:50Russia there was this hostage crisis
1:19:53that took place in a theater that ended
1:19:56catastrophically when the Russian
1:19:58special forces um pumped an undisclosed
1:20:02amount of this lethal what turned out to
1:20:05be a lethal chemical agent which was
1:20:08supposed to be a knockout gas into the
1:20:10building's ventilation system but then
1:20:14it ended up uh killing like over a
1:20:16hundred of the hostages or something
1:20:17like that. So, it ended up being seen as
1:20:20as sort of a a catastrophic disaster
1:20:23even though it was supposed to be like a
1:20:25rescue operation, but it was a rescue
1:20:27operation that went arry. So, that's
1:20:30part of the symbolism I think of like
1:20:31the Venus retrograde in Scorpio is like
1:20:33a res a rescue operation that goes ary,
1:20:36but in this instance, that also involved
1:20:38um what turned out to be uh poisonous
1:20:42gas.
1:20:44All right. And finally, the last one,
1:20:46which kind of ties in, I think in
1:20:48interesting ways to the environmental
1:20:50theme that we saw in the 1962 and 1970
1:20:54Venus retrograde in Scorpio, is in 2018.
1:20:58this Venus retrograde in Scorpio in the
1:21:00last several last few months of that
1:21:02year coincided with the um the emergence
1:21:06of the young at the time just
1:21:0915-year-old Swedish high school student
1:21:12Greta Thunberg who um started protesting
1:21:16and started a campaign that was called
1:21:20the school strike for climate campaign
1:21:23where she was like holding a sign and
1:21:26one of the things that was really
1:21:27interesting about this and about her and
1:21:30as she like emerged basically onto the
1:21:33world stage during the course of the the
1:21:363-month period of this Venus retrograde
1:21:38in in late 2018 was that like she was
1:21:41really fueled by a deep anger over
1:21:44ecological collapse as well as um
1:21:47invisible carbon emissions and her
1:21:51protest ended up igniting what's called
1:21:53the Fridays for future movement where
1:21:56millions of students ended up uh or
1:21:58began striking from school over the
1:22:02environment. And what was interesting is
1:22:04that the the movement of this, which was
1:22:06really explosive at the time, if you're
1:22:08around back then, ended up resulting in
1:22:10her getting invitations.
1:22:13Um first in November during the course
1:22:15of the Venus retrograde, to give this
1:22:17really famous TED X talk and then from
1:22:20there she was actually invited to give
1:22:22this really highly publicized speech in
1:22:25December. Um, I think around the time
1:22:27that Venus is is stationing direct or
1:22:30maybe just after it's already stationed
1:22:32direct, she gives this speech for the
1:22:34United Nations at a a climate summit in
1:22:38Poland. And she basically during these
1:22:41speeches ended up like like channeling
1:22:43this generational anger which is very
1:22:46Scorpio. It was directed at the
1:22:48establishment and and at the government
1:22:50and politicians where she fiercely
1:22:53criticized global leaders for their
1:22:55inaction and basically bluntly told them
1:22:58that they were stealing their children's
1:23:00futures.
1:23:02So, I thought that was a really
1:23:03interesting one in terms of Mar Venus
1:23:06retrograde in Scorpio and the emergence
1:23:09of a new um environmental activist
1:23:14figure in a similar way that like 1962
1:23:18saw the emergence of uh Rachel Carson in
1:23:21her book Silent Spring and then 1970 saw
1:23:25the creation of the Environmental
1:23:27Protection Agency as a result of that.
1:23:29So, um, interesting themes coming up
1:23:32with these these Venus retrogrades in
1:23:34Scorpio where sometimes it's it's
1:23:37identifying something that's like
1:23:39killing people, but it's doing so
1:23:42quietly or silently in the in the case
1:23:44of Rachel Carson's book, it's literally
1:23:46called Silent Spring and bringing that
1:23:49to people's attention in order to try to
1:23:51fix it or make it better or to resolve
1:23:55or restore it in some way.
True Crime, Cults, and Psychological Terror
1:23:59All right, so shifting gears in the next
1:24:01section, one of the major themes that I
1:24:03started to see come up over and over
1:24:04again were themes having to do with true
1:24:07crime, cults, and psychological terror.
1:24:10where sometimes these themes involving
1:24:13like mass cultural panic surrounding
1:24:15toxic relationships or psychological
1:24:18manipulation or even high-profile
1:24:22murders that sometimes um shatter the
1:24:25the illusion of safety in society.
1:24:29So, for example, the very first one was
1:24:30in 1947,
1:24:32and this was the the Black Dalia murder
1:24:36where there was this gruesome but also
1:24:38really highly sensationalized
1:24:41um murder in Hollywood of an aspiring
1:24:44actress named Elizabeth Short. And prior
1:24:48to this, it's like Hollywood had this
1:24:50like glamorous like beautiful
1:24:53picturesque sort of um veneer to it to
1:24:57especially to outsiders. But then this
1:24:59highly um publicized death just kind of
1:25:03like shattered the American post-war
1:25:06idealized dream about Hollywood. And
1:25:09instead what it um substituted in its
1:25:12place was part of the modern obsession
1:25:16with like true crime stories and it
1:25:19showed this like gritty sort of
1:25:22underworld side to Hollywood basically
1:25:25and and to California and that area in
1:25:28general. So, we sort of take this for
1:25:31granted nowadays in terms of the like
1:25:34the podcasts and the the YouTube
1:25:36channels and other things like that that
1:25:38focus on true crime stories, but this is
1:25:41really one of the the first really big
1:25:43ones in America was this murder in 1947
1:25:46under a Venus retrograde.
1:25:49All right. So, jumping forward to 1978.
1:25:52This was the Jonestown Massacre during
1:25:54the course of this Venus retrograde in
1:25:56Scorpio when there was this cult leader
1:25:58whose name was uh Jim Jones. And he
1:26:02directed this horrific mass murder or I
1:26:05should say mass suicide of over 900
1:26:09people who famously um drank this
1:26:13cyanide laced punch and then and then
1:26:17died. And this led to the famous like
1:26:21eventually the famous um phrase like
1:26:24don't drink the Kool-Aid became like one
1:26:26of the phrases that came out of this.
1:26:28Although they it turns out they weren't
1:26:31drinking Kool-Aid, but they were
1:26:32drinking some like cheaper knockoff
1:26:34version of it. Not that that matters,
1:26:36but um it kind of illustrated the
1:26:40darkest extremes of themes of like toxic
1:26:43devotion and psychological control. And
1:26:46once this happened again, it was really
1:26:48highly publicized
1:26:50massacre and like mass suicide. So a lot
1:26:53of these themes were just all over the
1:26:55media and the news for for weeks after
1:26:58this during the course of the retrograde
1:27:01as the
1:27:03people in the country and around the
1:27:05world are sort of like discussing themes
1:27:07of like what would lead cult members to
1:27:10like follow a charismatic leader into
1:27:12death and and different things like
1:27:14that.
1:27:16Um, similarly a dark one. I originally
1:27:18had this in the like first section on
1:27:20digging up old things, but this one was
1:27:23a little different, a little bit more
1:27:24gruesome. This was in 1978 was the
1:27:27arrest of John Wayne Gayy who was this
1:27:31famous um serial killer basically in in
1:27:34the United States when police there was
1:27:38like um a disappearance of somebody and
1:27:42and John Wayne Gayy became the primary
1:27:44suspect and eventually they went and
1:27:47they searched his house and they they
1:27:49uncovered a mass grave in his crawl
1:27:53space that was in the dirt that was
1:27:55concealing
1:27:57um a lot of of people basically that he
1:28:00killed. And it really shocked the public
1:28:02at the time because he turned out to be
1:28:05like one of the most prolific serial
1:28:07killers in the country. But to his um
1:28:11his community, he they he was known as
1:28:14somebody that was thought to be like a
1:28:15good good guy or something like that
1:28:16because he actually played a clown. Like
1:28:20he went to parties and acted as as as a
1:28:23clown at parties in his suburban
1:28:25neighborhood. So it's like his local
1:28:27community was absolutely shocked, but
1:28:29then the country and the world was
1:28:32shocked as well when he turned out to be
1:28:33a a serial killer.
1:28:37um similar was in 1994. This is like I
1:28:40said, um the jury selection process for
1:28:43the O.J. Simpson trial and then um the
1:28:47jury process itself became really highly
1:28:49publicized due to the the double murder
1:28:52and due to how um famous OJ Simpson was
1:28:55at this point both as a famous football
1:28:58player, one of the most famous football
1:28:59players in America, but also as an actor
1:29:01where he'd become like a successful
1:29:04actor in the 1980s as well, playing in
1:29:07comedies and other things like that. And
1:29:10um it raised like the jury selection
1:29:13process itself
1:29:16because the whole trial was later
1:29:18televised the following year once it got
1:29:21started. But with the jury process
1:29:23selection process itself, there was this
1:29:26national discussion and reckoning at the
1:29:28time about themes of like domestic abuse
1:29:32and toxic relationships in particular.
1:29:35And because the um the lawyers at the
1:29:39time during the jury selection were also
1:29:41arguing about whether certain evidence
1:29:44could be like submitted at trial about
1:29:46like previous abuse allegations or about
1:29:49like the phone call that his wife or
1:29:52ex-wife made when he was breaking into
1:29:56the house to like murder her and the the
1:29:58guy that she was with. Um there was a
1:30:01lot of discussions at the time that were
1:30:02pretty intense and pretty dark during
1:30:04the course of that Venus retrograde.
1:30:07And then finally, another one um I
1:30:10remember really vividly from 2002 during
1:30:12the course of this Venus retrograde was
1:30:14the beltway snipers where there were
1:30:17these two um guys. There were these two
1:30:20snipers who went around on the east
1:30:23coast around Washington DC and they
1:30:26executed this seemingly random set of
1:30:29killings where they were like concealed
1:30:33and they put the the gun through a hole
1:30:35in the car in the trunk and then they
1:30:38were just like shooting people over this
1:30:403-w weekek um essentially what became
1:30:43like a psychological terror campaign
1:30:45because this was late 2002 so this is
1:30:48only like a year after 9/11 and the
1:30:50country was still very much on edge and
1:30:53very paranoid about terrorism and all
1:30:56sorts of things like that. And then
1:30:58there's like these two guys that go
1:31:00around the Washington DC metro
1:31:03metropolitan area just like um shooting
1:31:07people with with sniper rifles over the
1:31:09course of a 3-week period. So it was a
1:31:11very um crazy time. And yeah, that was
1:31:15the last in terms of that and in terms
1:31:17of how sometimes events like this can
1:31:20cause feelings of like psychological
1:31:23terror in the in the news and in terms
1:31:24of people being worried about like am I
1:31:27next or or what precautions should I
1:31:30take not to be the um subject of the
1:31:33victim of something like this and so on
1:31:35and so forth.
Economic Control, Sabotage, and Structural Revolutions
1:31:37Next section I want to talk about some
1:31:39themes that I saw come up repeatedly
1:31:41about economic control uh economic
1:31:44sabotage and also sometimes economic
1:31:48structural revolutions.
1:31:50So for example in 1914 around the Venus
1:31:53retrograde in Scorpio that occurred that
1:31:55year the US government officially
1:31:58established the Federal Trade Commission
1:32:01and the goal of this was to protect
1:32:03consumers to crack down on corporate
1:32:06trusts and also to prevent
1:32:08anti-competitive business practices.
1:32:12So, it's like Venus going through
1:32:14Scorpio and setting up a thing that was
1:32:16set to help consumers avoid being ripped
1:32:21off basically by crooks or by criminals.
1:32:24And sometimes
1:32:26that criminal element can sometimes come
1:32:28up when you have things going on with
1:32:30with the sign of Scorpio, including
1:32:33attempts to sometimes fix that criminal
1:32:36element. Like I think you know in
1:32:38another context like the FBI I think
1:32:40what the f I think the federal bureau of
1:32:42investigation was created under Saturn
1:32:45and Scorpio or maybe it was that like
1:32:47maybe it was Jed Garoover that had
1:32:49Saturn in Scorpio or something like that
1:32:52but in this instance it was a Venus
1:32:54retrograde in Scorpio. Um similarly
1:32:57under the same Venus retrograde in 1914
1:32:59in Scorpio the Federal Reserve banks
1:33:02opened or the very first set of 12 banks
1:33:05uh which were regional Federal Reserve
1:33:07banks officially opened across the
1:33:09United States
1:33:11and the the point was to um decentralize
1:33:16the central banking system in in order
1:33:19to pull reserves and stabilize the
1:33:22nation's fractured financial sector And
1:33:26this would actually become really
1:33:27important later on because that that's
1:33:291914 when the Federal Reserve banks
1:33:31open. But then what happened is that in
1:33:341930 when there was another Venus
1:33:37retrograde years later like two cycles
1:33:39later we h we had the collapse of the
1:33:42bank of the United States
1:33:45where um in the in the east coast I
1:33:48think it was in New York there was these
1:33:50panic panicked depositors who basically
1:33:53triggered a bank run that that triggered
1:33:56the collapse of the bank of the United
1:33:58States and this was the largest
1:34:00commercial bank failure in US history up
1:34:03to that point. So it was ironically
1:34:07happening on a a retrograde recurrence
1:34:09of Venus retrograde two cycles after the
1:34:12Federal Reserve was created. It was
1:34:15actually a really notorious um failure
1:34:18of the Federal Reserve to step in and
1:34:21act as a lender of last resort because
1:34:24the Federal Reserve basically like
1:34:25refused to step in and let let the bank
1:34:28fail, which in retrospect was seen to be
1:34:32um a bad call that was motivated by uh
1:34:36really bad things or really stupid
1:34:38things.
1:34:39So there's some sort of history there in
1:34:42terms of just the fact that the Federal
1:34:43Reserve was created or that the banks
1:34:46were opened at least um under that Venus
1:34:49retrograde sets up some sort of
1:34:51important precedent whenever that Venus
1:34:53retrograde recurs again in the future.
1:34:56All right, moving on. 1938 that Venus
1:34:59retrograde there was the landmark New
1:35:02Deal economic legislation took effect
1:35:06where basically it established um this
1:35:08was during Roosevelt's presidency. It
1:35:11established the first federal minimum
1:35:13wage. Uh it mand mandated overtime pay
1:35:17and then it also outlawed oppressive
1:35:20industrial child labor. So it was like
1:35:23during the course of the New Deal when
1:35:26Roosevelt's like implementing all of
1:35:27these economic policies during the
1:35:31course of the Great Depression basically
1:35:33the 1930s
1:35:35this was like one of the major things
1:35:36that was implemented at that time in
1:35:38order to attempt to offset or help
1:35:40things in order to put some rules and
1:35:43guidelines in place which to to help
1:35:46people and and to help the the little
1:35:48people which is more of a a Venus type
1:35:51thing.
1:35:52Um but then later on in 1946, so this is
1:35:57postw World War II and something
1:35:58interesting that happened was um it was
1:36:01like right towards the end of this Venus
1:36:04retrograde in Scorpio in 46, President
1:36:07Truman officially proclaimed the
1:36:10sessation of World War II hostilities.
1:36:13So it's like World War II had
1:36:14technically ended like a year year and a
1:36:17half earlier in mid 1945 in terms of the
1:36:21actual fighting in Europe and and in the
1:36:24Pacific. But then what happened is um at
1:36:28the end of this Venus retrograde in late
1:36:301946, he officially on paper and for
1:36:34economic and financial reasons declared
1:36:37the war officially over. And what this
1:36:40did is it it systematically started
1:36:42dismantling some of the emergency
1:36:45federal controls that had been in place
1:36:47during the course of the war during the
1:36:49course of World War II about things like
1:36:51um domestic prices, wages, and also
1:36:55manufacturing.
1:36:57And this transition then helped make the
1:37:00economic transition to ignite the
1:37:03post-war civilian consumer economy.
1:37:06>> [clears throat]
1:37:07>> So that's really important in terms of
1:37:11sometimes Venus has more to do with
1:37:14regulation and like economic regulation
1:37:16and things like that than we really
1:37:17think of. And you can really see that
1:37:19sometimes during these Venus retrogrades
1:37:22in Scorpio.
1:37:24um both in terms of like when
1:37:27regulations are put in place in a in a
1:37:29good or helpful way or sometimes when
1:37:31regulations
1:37:33fail or or are not put in place or used
1:37:36appropriately.
1:37:38Um and finally there was one other
1:37:39economic one that came up. It was the
1:37:411970 Venus retrograde and this was when
1:37:45um the US government ended up or
1:37:48orchestrating this like invisible
1:37:50blockade in order to destabilize Chile's
1:37:53economy. And what they did is they
1:37:56pressured international lenders like the
1:37:58World Bank to completely halt
1:38:00development loans. And I think I
1:38:02mentioned this already, but it may just
1:38:04be relevant in terms of some of the
1:38:07recent heightened economic blockades in
1:38:10terms of Iran that were announced this
1:38:12summer. And then we'll see what happens,
1:38:15how that plays out over the course of
1:38:17the next several months as Venus goes
1:38:19retrograde in Scorpio again and we get a
1:38:21recurrence of something similar to 1970.
Media, Broadcasting, and Global Icons
1:38:26All right, moving on to the next section
1:38:28to keep things going. So I I found some
1:38:30major themes.
1:38:33We'll sort of shift gears at this point
1:38:34because the next section has to do with
1:38:36themes involving the media broadcasting
1:38:39and global icons. So for example in 1906
1:38:44during the very first Venus retrograde
1:38:46that dipped into Scorpio the um there
1:38:49was there was an international
1:38:51conference that took place and they
1:38:53formally adopted the Morse code sequence
1:38:57SOS as the universal maritime distress
1:39:00signal for basically if you need help.
1:39:03And I thought that was a really
1:39:04interesting like Venus retrograde thing
1:39:07of like having a signal that's now like
1:39:10universally recognized. Like even if you
1:39:12don't know Morse code, everybody knows
1:39:14that like SOS is like that distress
1:39:17signal that ships will put out if
1:39:19they're in trouble. And I thought that
1:39:20was really interesting Venus retrograde
1:39:23like symbolism of like going retrograde
1:39:25and like asking for help or alerting
1:39:28others that you're in need of
1:39:30assistance.
1:39:31Similarly, this under the same
1:39:33retrograde, there was another first
1:39:35where um at this time
1:39:39a a person transmitted what is widely
1:39:42recognized as the first audio radio
1:39:44broadcast during this Venus retrograde
1:39:47in Scorpio. And what was interesting is
1:39:50it brought he used both his human voice
1:39:53but also used music. This guy played
1:39:56music over the the radio and he um
1:40:00astonished it like really surprised some
1:40:02of the wireless shipboard operators at
1:40:05the time and the person who did it his
1:40:07name was Reginald uh Fascenden.
1:40:10So the very first basically like human
1:40:13voice and music over the radio occurred
1:40:16under this Venus retrograde in Scorpio
1:40:19and the significance of that will become
1:40:21clearer as I go through some of the
1:40:23repetitions.
1:40:24So we jump forward one cycle to um 1915
1:40:30when Alexander Graham Graanbell
1:40:33inaugurated the first commercial
1:40:35transcontinental telephone line by
1:40:38calling his former assistant from New
1:40:41York to San Francisco and he repeated
1:40:43his iconic phrase or then iconic phrase
1:40:46quote Mr. Watson come here I want you
1:40:49end quote. So the first basically
1:40:52opening up at towards the end of the
1:40:54Venus retrograde and I think they were
1:40:55like testing it and working it out
1:40:56during the course of the Venus
1:40:58retrograde and then by the time it
1:40:59stationed direct they did this big
1:41:01publicized like first call on this
1:41:05transcontinental telephone that that was
1:41:08calling from New York to San Francisco.
1:41:12All right, moving on. 1922 Venus
1:41:14retrograde in Scorpio. Um this was when
1:41:18this was the start of technicolor cinema
1:41:21basically where there was this movie
1:41:24called the toll of the sea and it
1:41:27premiered as the first feature film that
1:41:30was produced in twocolor subra
1:41:33subtractive technicolor that could be
1:41:35screened without specialized production
1:41:37equipment. So, it was a really huge
1:41:40turning point in terms of of starting to
1:41:44bring color basically into film, which
1:41:46had largely just been black and white up
1:41:48to that point, but also in terms of
1:41:51pushing the technology forward to make
1:41:53it easier to make color films, which
1:41:57eventually would come to dominate um
1:41:59movies and television and everything
1:42:01else today. But this is really a crucial
1:42:04turning point in terms of being the
1:42:06first feature film that did this with
1:42:09that specific approach. Um, jumping
1:42:12forward to 1954, a really interesting
1:42:15one that had a repetition that I found
1:42:17is that it turns out that during the the
1:42:20Venus retrograde in 1954,
1:42:22the very first episode of the Tonight
1:42:25Show debuted with uh Steve Allen, who
1:42:29who was the host originally on uh NBC of
1:42:33the Tonight Show. And it and the Tonight
1:42:35Show ended up becoming this like
1:42:38American institution because it set this
1:42:41standard for like like late night talk
1:42:43shows basically. And
1:42:47uh that that all subsequent talk shows
1:42:49would would imitate after that. And
1:42:51what's cool about this one is is so the
1:42:54Tonight Show starts under the Venus
1:42:56retrograde in Scorpio in 1954.
1:42:59And then get this, exactly eight years
1:43:01later when the Venus retrograde in
1:43:03Scorpio repeats in 1962, that's when
1:43:06Johnny Carson took over the Tonight
1:43:08Show, which he ran for like the next, I
1:43:11think, three decades or something like
1:43:13that. And at that point, it really took
1:43:16off and the Tonight Show became sort of
1:43:19like the primary hit uh late night show
1:43:22in television that just dominated the
1:43:25ratings for decades. And um I thought
1:43:28that was interesting cuz I've I've used
1:43:30Johnny Carson's chart for other things
1:43:32at other points and I know that he has
1:43:34Scorpio rising with Mercury and Saturn
1:43:37in Scorpio in the first sign house. So
1:43:40that means that that Venus retrograde
1:43:42that happened in 1962 when he was taking
1:43:45over the Tonight Show was going through
1:43:48his his rising sign in his first house
1:43:50and like activating his Mercury and his
1:43:53Saturn in the in the first house and he
1:43:55became like a household name as a talk
1:43:58show host. So I thought that was pretty
1:44:00cool. Actually, now that I think of it,
1:44:02that's actually similar to my own chart
1:44:05and situation because I I also have uh
1:44:09Mercury and Saturn in Scorpio.
1:44:13And I took over as host of a podcast on
1:44:19my birthday in 2010 in the middle of a
1:44:22Venus retrograde in Scorpio in my 10th
1:44:25sign house. Um, there was this this old
1:44:28podcast I took over called Traditional
1:44:29Astrology Radio that I took over from my
1:44:32friend Jackie Minky's and I ran that for
1:44:35like a few years and then eventually um
1:44:39launched the astrology podcast in 2012
1:44:44actually under a subsequent Venus
1:44:45retrograde because I wanted to not just
1:44:48talk about traditional astrology but I
1:44:50wanted to talk about lots of different
1:44:52forms of astrology and that's why I
1:44:53broadened it. But now that I think about
1:44:55it, it's funny that I also got started
1:44:57under a Venus retrograde in Scorpio in
1:44:58the 10th house over my Mercury Saturn
1:45:01conjunction at the time.
1:45:03All right, good. Always finding new
1:45:06things even in the process of of talking
1:45:09about them. All right, so jumping
1:45:12forward um 1962
1:45:16that same Venus retrograde where um
1:45:19Johnny Carson is like taking over the
1:45:21Tonight Show. One of the things I found
1:45:23really fascinating is that the band, The
1:45:26Beatles, released their debut single at
1:45:29this time, which was this the song Love
1:45:32Me Do. And this was basically like their
1:45:36first commercial single and was the
1:45:38start of what would become like massive
1:45:40commercial success where they became the
1:45:44most successful band in popular music
1:45:47history. And it all started with this
1:45:49Venus retrograde in Scorpio in 1962.
1:45:54All right, moving forward to jumping
1:45:56forward eight years to 1970. That Venus
1:46:00retrograde in Scorpio was particularly
1:46:02depressing for some reason. And in some
1:46:05instances, this has to do with like what
1:46:07planets are aspecting the Venus
1:46:10retrograde either by being in the same
1:46:13sign as Venus, like being in Scorpio for
1:46:16example, like um
1:46:19there was one where there was like a lot
1:46:20of surprises and it was because Venus
1:46:22was like stationing with Uranus
1:46:25conjuncted and that was um like what was
1:46:29it? That was the president. And I think
1:46:31that was like Carter or somebody
1:46:34announcing the agreement with with
1:46:37China. Um, but there's other times where
1:46:41it's with Jupiter and it's like a little
1:46:43bit more easy or favorable. There's
1:46:45other times where there's other planets
1:46:47like Mars aspecting Venus by like a hard
1:46:50aspect and you can see those ones being
1:46:52a lot more rough in terms of certain
1:46:54stories. Anyways, the 1971 um just two
1:46:58weeks apart during this Venus retrograde
1:47:01in Scorpio, both Jimmyi Hendris as well
1:47:04as Janice Joplain ended up dying
1:47:07tragically at the age of 27 years old
1:47:11and both of them died from tragic drug
1:47:14overdoses. So this was um you know I was
1:47:18around around at the time but that must
1:47:20have been really rough I imagine
1:47:22especially for a lot of the younger
1:47:23people and a lot of the cult
1:47:24countercultural people that listen to
1:47:27their music. And then um yeah this is
1:47:30also cementing the idea of the the 27
1:47:33club of sometimes like famous musicians
1:47:36passing away around the age of 27.
1:47:39Um which later musicians like Kurt
1:47:42Cobain would would continue. Uh,
1:47:44unfortunately.
1:47:46All right, moving on. So, um, in 1986, I
1:47:52talked about the debut of the Oprah
1:47:54Winfrey show when she started her
1:47:56nationally syndicated show and then just
1:47:58like became this national sensation over
1:48:01the course of the next few months by
1:48:03talking about uh, tough things, but al
1:48:06and being really empathetic and open and
1:48:10like willing to go anywhere with her
1:48:11audience. And that's a really important
1:48:14one
1:48:15where sometimes there's like figures
1:48:17that rise into prominence during these
1:48:19Venus retrogrades. So in terms of like,
1:48:22you know, Oprah rising into prominence
1:48:23there or the Beatles releasing their
1:48:26first single in 1962 or like Johnny
1:48:30Carson taking over the Tonight Show in
1:48:331962 under the Venus retrograde. And um
1:48:37often times it's because like Scorpio is
1:48:39falling in an important spot in the
1:48:42chart or it's because the people
1:48:45involved have important placements in
1:48:47Scorpio.
1:48:50Um okay, the last two I wanted to have
1:48:52in this section are 1984
1:48:54when Netscape Communications released uh
1:48:57Netscape Navigator 1.0 0. And this was
1:49:00the first widely successful commercial
1:49:03web browser which basically gave like a
1:49:06a visual user interface that was easily
1:49:09accessible for accessing the internet.
1:49:12And this this helped to transition the
1:49:15internet from like this sort of like
1:49:17academic curiosity into the
1:49:20indispensable global medium that
1:49:23everybody uses today that's like really
1:49:25easy to access. And part of that
1:49:28turning point was like having a a visual
1:49:32way to access the internet that was like
1:49:35easy and accessible. And that partially
1:49:37really started here with the release of
1:49:40of Netscape in 1994 during that Venus
1:49:43retrograde. And my very last one, which
1:49:46is one of my favorites, um happened in
1:49:482010. And this is when during this Venus
1:49:51retrograde in Scorpio, like early in the
1:49:54retrograde, software engineers released
1:49:56the photo sharing app Instagram. And
1:50:00Instagram was released during this Venus
1:50:02retrograde in Scorpio in late 2010. And
1:50:04then it just like quickly became wildly
1:50:07popular. And it attracted something like
1:50:10a 100,000 users in just its first week.
1:50:14And then by the end of the retrograde,
1:50:16by the time Venus stationed direct um in
1:50:20Libra in December, in November and
1:50:24December, um Instagram had hit over a
1:50:28million followers basically by December
1:50:31by the end of the retrograde. And it it
1:50:33essentially like completely
1:50:34revolutionalized
1:50:36the idea of visual social media as well
1:50:39as mobile photography
1:50:42because 2010 was still like the very
1:50:44early days of smartphones and like
1:50:47iPhones and other stuff like that. And
1:50:50Instagram being a social networking
1:50:55platform that was entirely focused on
1:50:57photos was really novel at the time,
1:51:00especially because it had a unique
1:51:02feature of being able to put different
1:51:05um filters on your photos. And back
1:51:08then, people were putting all sorts of
1:51:10like, you know, dark and mysterious and
1:51:12other kind of like um filters on all of
1:51:14the photos that they were posting on
1:51:16Instagram. So, I thought that was
1:51:18amazing. And the other thing that's
1:51:19amazing about that is 2010 was the first
1:51:22time that Venus retrograded that it
1:51:26started the retrograde in Scorpio but
1:51:27then it stationed direct in Libra
1:51:31and then when Instagram itself was
1:51:33launched there was a stellium of planets
1:51:35in Libra involving like the sun and
1:51:38Mercury and something else I believe.
1:51:40So, I think that's part of the shift and
1:51:42that's like an early preview and like
1:51:44intimation of the larger shift that
1:51:47we're going to be see seeing emerge over
1:51:50the course of the next century as the
1:51:52Venus retrogrades continue to drift from
1:51:55Scorpio into Libra more fully and
1:51:59potentially this being an early example
1:52:01of that just in terms of the power of
1:52:04images, the power of video, the power of
1:52:09aesthetics and different things like
1:52:11that, which is a is a very venujian
1:52:14thing.
1:52:16All right. Uh, digression. So, yeah, I'm
1:52:19working through these pretty good so
1:52:20far. I'm going to try to keep the
1:52:21momentum up. This is obviously a lot,
1:52:24but hopefully you're starting to get
1:52:26some perspective on, you know, how it
1:52:28all comes together when you start seeing
1:52:30the big picture. Um, I meant to say that
1:52:33obviously it started off with some of
1:52:35the more challenging stuff
1:52:38and I'm treating these mundane studies
1:52:42as separate from a natal study. So, it's
1:52:45not like, you know, anything in this
1:52:48that we're talking about in a natal
1:52:50context. It doesn't mean that that's
1:52:52necessarily how it's going to manifest
1:52:53in a private or a personal context
1:52:56because it really depends on how the
1:52:57birth chart is set up in different ways.
1:53:00Um, but if people would like, let me
1:53:02know in the comments and I may do a
1:53:04separate episode talking about examples
1:53:06of different people that natally have
1:53:08Venus retrograde in Scorpio and that
1:53:11could be an interesting additional
1:53:12avenue
1:53:14that I largely decided to leave out of
1:53:16this treatment just for for time and
1:53:18space. And um, yeah, what else? What
1:53:21else did I meant to say? I meant to give
1:53:23the date that I'm recording this on
1:53:25September 17th, Thursday, September
1:53:2817th, 2026. Uh I used an election with
1:53:31Sagittarius rising. I think I it's a
1:53:34little delayed. I was shooting for
1:53:35midheaven in Virgo, but I think it ended
1:53:37up being midheaven at zero uh Libra, but
1:53:40I had a nice moon Jupiter trine today
1:53:42that I wanted to take advantage of for
1:53:44recording this. And um
1:53:48um I'm a little struggling cuz I'm
1:53:50getting over being sick with COVID this
1:53:52month that's been lasting for like 2 or
1:53:533 weeks that has um exacerbated some of
1:53:57my existing like long COVID symptoms
1:54:00with like fatigue and brain fog and
1:54:02memory loss. So I'm relying a little bit
1:54:04more on the extensive notes that I wrote
1:54:06down I I might normally. But that's why
1:54:09just in order to make sure I'm saying
1:54:12all of the main things that I meant to
1:54:14say in terms of all the research,
1:54:16although this is still in many
1:54:17instances, I'm just giving like the the
1:54:20bare minimum or like highlights of of
1:54:23some of the research.
1:54:25All right, let's get back into it. Let's
Movies, Media, and Dark Themes in Pop Culture
1:54:27move into our next section, which is one
1:54:28of our more fun sections, which has to
1:54:31do with movies, media, and dark themes
1:54:34in pop culture.
1:54:36So, um, going all the way back to 1906,
1:54:40I found this fascinating because during
1:54:42this Venus retrograde in Scorpio, where
1:54:44it just barely dipped into Scorpio for
1:54:46the first time, we had a a first, a
1:54:50world's first, where the world's first
1:54:52featurelength narrative film premiered
1:54:55and it was titled The Story of the Kelly
1:54:58Gang. And this film, what what's funny
1:55:01about this film is that it actually
1:55:03chronicles the notorious exploits uh and
1:55:07anti- athoritarian rebellion of as well
1:55:11as the tragic downfall of this 19th
1:55:13century Australian
1:55:16um person and his like outlaw gang. And
1:55:19it was like a the the leader of a gang
1:55:21named Ned Kelly. So, what's funny about
1:55:24this this being like the the world's
1:55:26first featurelength narrative film is it
1:55:30was like kind of about like crime and
1:55:31and criminal acts and like gangs and
1:55:34underworldly stuff like that. And what's
1:55:36funny is that will set up a precedent
1:55:38that we're going to see recur in
1:55:40especially a major uh recurrence of
1:55:43Venus retrograde later later on in 1994
1:55:46um that I'll mention here in just a
1:55:48little bit. Okay. But but world's first
1:55:51featurelength narrative film. So it sets
1:55:53up an important precedent for doing long
1:55:57featurelength films and that something
1:55:59like that can actually be successful.
1:56:02All right, so jumping forward to 1938.
1:56:05This one was really funny because this
1:56:06is when um Orrison Wells broadcast a
1:56:10fake alien invasion over the radio which
1:56:14caused widespread psychological panic
1:56:17because he he basically did like an a
1:56:19radio version of the War of the Worlds
1:56:23book and story, but he played it like it
1:56:27was like a newscast that was like live
1:56:29and unfolding. And they did like a
1:56:31little I think they did a little
1:56:32disclaimer at the beginning, but like
1:56:34since some people tuned in late, they
1:56:36didn't hear that. They thought this was
1:56:38like live like an alien invasion was
1:56:40taking place and like destroying things
1:56:43and taking over the world. So, it
1:56:44freaked out a bunch of people and it set
1:56:47a really interesting precedent in terms
1:56:49of mass media and the potential for
1:56:51panic or or misinformation or like
1:56:54paranoia and fears and different things
1:56:56like that with this Venus retrograde in
1:56:58Scorpio in 1938.
1:57:01All right, jumping forward, there were
1:57:03some different movies that came out
1:57:05during Venus retrogrades in Scorpio that
1:57:07were really interesting and iconic for
1:57:10different reasons. And one of the ones
1:57:12that I found the most fascinating is the
1:57:14Venus retrograde of 1946.
1:57:17The movie It's a Wonderful Life came
1:57:19out. And this this was interesting
1:57:22because it actually premiered shortly
1:57:24after Venus stationed direct in Scorpio.
1:57:27And the the film itself, even though
1:57:30it's like usually viewed, you know, like
1:57:32a century almost a century later, is
1:57:34like this um Christmas movie and like a
1:57:37Christmas classic at this point. Um,
1:57:40when it first came out, it didn't do
1:57:41super well because it was somewhat of a
1:57:44it was it was viewed as a somewhat bleak
1:57:47exploration of like themes of like
1:57:50suicide and corruption and things like
1:57:52that. And the main character was, you
1:57:55know, at the brink of suicide, but then
1:57:58he's he sort of comes during the course
1:58:00of the film to appreciate his life
1:58:03essentially and appreciate the value of
1:58:05his life, but only got there after going
1:58:08to a very dark place psychologically.
1:58:12And so what's funny about that is um the
1:58:15movie like didn't do super well when it
1:58:17was first released. And it's only later
1:58:21on, like a few decades later, the
1:58:23production company accidentally let the
1:58:26uh the rights to the movie lapse. And so
1:58:29when they did that in the 1970s, a bunch
1:58:32of television stations like started
1:58:35playing the movie over and over again
1:58:37because they could play it for free. And
1:58:41as a result of that, from the 1970s
1:58:43forward, it became like this ubiquitous
1:58:47um like Christmas or holiday type movie.
1:58:51And what's funny is in there was a
1:58:53repetition then in 1994
1:58:56um I think it was NBC
1:58:58got the rights to the movie
1:59:01to to be to play it exclusively and they
1:59:05ended up like restricting their strategy
1:59:07from 1994 forward was to restrict its
1:59:09usage and this was during a Venus
1:59:12retrograde in Scorpio in 1994 and what
1:59:14they did is they set it so that the
1:59:17movie wasn't being played all the time
1:59:19anymore but instead they restricted it
1:59:21so now it only played they would play it
1:59:23twice a year, two times in December.
1:59:26Once in early December and then once
1:59:27around Christmas and they heavily like
1:59:31publicized and hyped up the showing of
1:59:33the movie to make it like a like an
1:59:35event. And um and this was during the
1:59:38the Venus retrograde in in Scorpio of
1:59:411994. And then that set the the
1:59:44precedent that's basically continued all
1:59:46the way until the the present time. So,
1:59:48I thought that was funny both in terms
1:59:50of the original theme, but also in terms
1:59:52of um the being a good example of a
1:59:55repetition.
1:59:58All right, moving on. In 1954, the very
2:00:01first Godzilla movie came out in Japan,
2:00:04and this ended up being this like
2:00:05massive pop culture monster sensation.
2:00:10Um, but one of the things that was
2:00:12interesting as I was researching this
2:00:13that I didn't know and I learned
2:00:15recently was that like Godzilla, this is
2:00:181954, so this is like, you know, less
2:00:21than 10 years after World War II had
2:00:25ended.
2:00:27And there was a lot of heavy censorship
2:00:30in Japan after the war about talking
2:00:32about certain things including certain
2:00:35aspects of like um the the US having
2:00:38used the atomic weapons and dropping
2:00:41those on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And so
2:00:45Godzilla itself was partially the movie
2:00:49where there's like this monster and
2:00:51there's like nuclear themes and it's
2:00:53destroying entire cities was partially
2:00:57there there was like a subtext to it
2:00:59where it was partially reflecting on and
2:01:02a way of processing publicly through
2:01:05media the the trauma of of having
2:01:08experienced
2:01:10um the nuclear weapons that were
2:01:13unleashed that killed so many civilians
2:01:15um in 1945 uh on in Hiroshima Nagasaki.
2:01:21So even though it's like Godzilla is
2:01:23viewed at at this point in time since
2:01:26it's been such a long franchise as this
2:01:29sort of like the start of like monster
2:01:32movies and or a genre of monster movies
2:01:35and there's been all sorts of different
2:01:37iterations of that. there was an a more
2:01:39interesting deep psychological context
2:01:43for the movie when it was released in
2:01:441954 besides just the the basic thing on
2:01:48the surface that everybody knows.
2:01:51Interestingly, that's another repetition
2:01:52that's about to take place later this
2:01:54year when Venus goes retrograde in
2:01:56Scorpio because there's another Godzilla
2:01:58movie, a major Godzilla movie that's
2:02:00about to come out later this year that
2:02:02is a a sequel to one that was released
2:02:05just a few years ago that actually won
2:02:07an Academy Award, I think, for best
2:02:09special effects for the first time. Um,
2:02:12which was a pretty big deal when it
2:02:13happened just a few years ago. So,
2:02:16that's another repetition. And that's
2:02:17one of the reasons why
2:02:20even though, you know, I'm going through
2:02:22these and some of these stories seem
2:02:25random or some sometimes it's obvious,
2:02:28like a certain story is obviously very
2:02:30tied in with like Venus retrograde and
2:02:32the symbolism is obvious. There's other
2:02:35times when the symbolism initially may
2:02:39not seem as obvious and you have to kind
2:02:41of like dig into it. Once you do, you
2:02:43kind of understand the subtext and that
2:02:46there is a way that the symbolism
2:02:48matches up with like Venus or Venus
2:02:50retrograde or the meaning of Scorpio or
2:02:53other things like that. Other times, um,
2:02:57the story is important because if
2:02:59something started under Venus retrograde
2:03:01in Scorpio, then it just sets it up so
2:03:03that there's going to be repetitions and
2:03:06that that thing is going to be revisited
2:03:08at some point in the future when Venus
2:03:10again goes retrograde in Scorpio. And so
2:03:12that's why sometimes when you're doing
2:03:14this research, it's important to have
2:03:16like a really wide
2:03:18view of like what were the major things
2:03:20that coincided with the Venus retrograde
2:03:22in Scorpio in the past cuz sometimes
2:03:25those things will come up again the next
2:03:27time that same retrograde happens. Um,
2:03:30so that's a good example of that. All
2:03:32right, moving on. One of my favorite
2:03:35like movie discoveries that I found was
2:03:38the 1962 Venus retrograde where the very
2:03:42first James Bond movie came out during
2:03:46the Venus retrograde of 1962 in Scorpio.
2:03:49And this was the film that basically
2:03:52like launched the entire James Bond
2:03:55franchise. And it introduced
2:03:59a lot of the basic elements of the
2:04:01entire James Bond franchise that are
2:04:04still used to this day where you have
2:04:06this like swave like handsome,
2:04:08sophisticated but ruthless like secret
2:04:11agent spy and um and he's going around
2:04:16like doing spy things like assassinating
2:04:18people and using secret weapons and
2:04:21secret compartments and all sorts of
2:04:23there's all sorts of like in intrigue
2:04:25and other stuff like that and it sort of
2:04:27like triggered this global um spy craze.
2:04:31But what was funny is that it came out
2:04:32in the UK in the fall of 1962
2:04:37and then normally movies would only be
2:04:40in theaters in the UK for like like a
2:04:43week, but it was so wildly popular that
2:04:45they ended up like extending it in
2:04:47different theaters to be two or 3 weeks
2:04:50showings and then sometimes um they
2:04:52would even like bring it back. It was so
2:04:54popular. So it really was something that
2:04:56like comes out early in the ret
2:04:59retrograde but then um builds up in
2:05:02popularity during the course of it. So
2:05:04there's like not just a singular event
2:05:06but it but it unleashes something
2:05:08culturally that people are like talking
2:05:10about and into and becomes popular
2:05:13basically or becomes part of the pop uh
2:05:16po popular consciousness at that time.
2:05:19So that was one of I thought that was
2:05:21cool just like [clears throat] James
2:05:23Bond movie coming out and and starting
2:05:26that in Venus retrograde in Scorpio. All
2:05:28right, moving on. 1962 was also
2:05:30interesting because there was a quieter
2:05:33yet still important release where
2:05:36um hitting the news stands exactly one
2:05:40week after Venus station direct in
2:05:42Scorpio was the first issue of the ma
2:05:45the amazing Spider-Man. So, the comic
2:05:48book The Amazing Spider-Man and also the
2:05:50debut of Iron Man came out basically in
2:05:54the same week. And these were both
2:05:56simultaneously introduced by Stan Lee.
2:06:01And Stan Lee is like this legendary
2:06:03comic book creator uh with Marvel and
2:06:08who who was behind many of like the
2:06:10superheroes that have become so popular
2:06:12over the course of the past couple of
2:06:13decades when they started making
2:06:15superhero movies especially based on the
2:06:18Marvel characters that he he created or
2:06:20co-created. But um one of the things as
2:06:22I was looking into this that was funny
2:06:25especially for Spider-Man and Spider-Man
2:06:27being introduced at this time is that
2:06:29part of his formula is not just like or
2:06:32part of the thing that was innovative
2:06:34about things like Spider-Man at the time
2:06:36is that he had this formula where he
2:06:39created um vulnerable psychologically
2:06:43complex heroes who were like wrestling
2:06:46with things like guilt or personal
2:06:49trauma or like shortcomings or other
2:06:52things like that or like flaws basically
2:06:55like they were flawed superheroes
2:06:58which was really innovative and
2:07:00different at the time and even having I
2:07:04saw I watched like an interview as I was
2:07:05researching this with Stan Lee and he
2:07:08was talking about even just having um
2:07:10Spider-Man be a young guy having Peter
2:07:14Parker be like a teenager who's a
2:07:16superhero who's dealing with like
2:07:18teenager problems s itself like was
2:07:21innovative at the time and and and
2:07:23people like his boss didn't think that
2:07:25that was appropriate or would work
2:07:27because it didn't fit the mold of what a
2:07:30superhero was supposed to be. So there's
2:07:33something really important about this.
2:07:34And then get this, Stanley, the creator
2:07:36of this, he was born with Venus
2:07:39retrograde in Scorpio in 1922.
2:07:42So so brilliant like that you have
2:07:45somebody born with during the Venus
2:07:46retrograde in Scorpio cycle or or around
2:07:49the Venus retrograde of 1922 and then he
2:07:52introduces what would become some of his
2:07:55most iconic and influential characters
2:07:58basically the same week during a Venus
2:08:01retrograde in 1992 or 1962
2:08:04which are Spider-Man which became his
2:08:07his most iconic and successful character
2:08:09but also Iron Man which everybody knows
2:08:12at this point. It was the Iron Man film
2:08:15that came out in 2008, which really
2:08:17launched the entire like superhero era
2:08:21of like Marvel comic book movies that
2:08:24that have just dominated cinemas for the
2:08:26past couple of decades. So, interesting
2:08:30repetition though about that. Um there's
2:08:33like a big, you know, Venus is about to
2:08:35go retrograde and there's a big um
2:08:38Marvel superhero movie that's coming out
2:08:41later this year that's going to feature
2:08:43a bunch of his characters, including um
2:08:47not just Spider-Man, but also Iron Man,
2:08:51who like died in like a previous
2:08:54Avengers movie back in what, like 2018
2:08:56or 2019.
2:08:58The character who plays him was Robert
2:09:00Downey Jr. and he's coming back to play
2:09:02a different character in this new
2:09:05Avenger movie. He's playing a character
2:09:07named Dr. Doom. So, um, basically
2:09:11there's some like Venus retrograde
2:09:13themes involved there, and it goes back
2:09:15to the introduction of some of these
2:09:17characters in 1962, but also it goes
2:09:20back to the creator himself, Stan Lee,
2:09:23having being born around the Venus
2:09:25retrograde in Scorpio in 1922. So, I
2:09:28thought that was an amazing and sort of
2:09:29stunning thing. And then I'm sure when
2:09:31that movie comes out and we find out
2:09:33what the actual plot is, there may be
2:09:36ways in which that makes even more sense
2:09:38once it becomes clear how some of those
2:09:40characters are being used in the
2:09:41upcoming movie. All
2:09:44right, the next one I have to give a
2:09:45shout out to my friend Patrick Watson
2:09:46who pointed this one out for me where he
2:09:49pointed out that um in the 1986 Venus
2:09:52retrograde that uh opening just a few
2:09:55days before the retrograde station
2:09:57itself in Scorpio, there was this
2:10:00record-breaking mega musical which was
2:10:04Phantom of the Opera. So, The Phantom of
2:10:06the Opera came out in 1986,
2:10:10and it's interesting in terms of themes
2:10:11because it focuses on this disfigured
2:10:14genius who's hiding in like subterranean
2:10:18catacombs, and it's deeply exploring
2:10:21these themes of like unrequited love, u
2:10:25severe isolation, and also the
2:10:28destructive aspect of artistic
2:10:30obsession. So, I thought that was really
2:10:33perfect in terms of just Venus
2:10:35retrograde in Scorpio themes of having
2:10:37like a dark obsessive type of character
2:10:40in the context of of that movie and that
2:10:42musical.
2:10:44Um, another one, probably one of the
2:10:47most impressive ones though is the Venus
2:10:50retrograde of 1994
2:10:52because this uh released exactly as
2:10:56Venus stationed retrograde was the movie
2:11:00Pulp Fiction by Quinton Tarantino, which
2:11:02ended up just being one of the biggest
2:11:04blockbuster movies of the year and one
2:11:07of the biggest blockbusters of that
2:11:09decade, which is so fascinating to me
2:11:12because it was released right on the
2:11:13station of Venus retrograde in Scorpio
2:11:16and this was like an indie blockbuster
2:11:19and on the one hand it was like a crime
2:11:22drama and it features like a bunch of
2:11:23criminals doing criminal things like
2:11:26shooting or killing people. Um, so you
2:11:29have this like scorpionic element, but
2:11:31one of the things I love about this
2:11:33that's interesting is that um, and that
2:11:36was unique about it is you also get a
2:11:38retrograde element because pulp fiction
2:11:42incorporated um, nonlinear storytelling
2:11:47where it basically redefined some of the
2:11:49different storytelling conventions for
2:11:51movies because it had an outof order
2:11:54narrative where um, you were you were
2:11:58coming in with different characters at
2:12:00different points in the story and
2:12:02sometimes there would be like a
2:12:04character who would die
2:12:07um in the middle of the movie but then
2:12:09it would later in the film at the end of
2:12:11the film it would go backwards in time
2:12:13and you would see that character again
2:12:14at some earlier point in their study in
2:12:17their story. So, the nonlinear
2:12:20storytelling keyword is like one of the
2:12:23things I think is really important about
2:12:24this happening on a Venus retrograde
2:12:26station.
2:12:28And um yeah, but it was also just like a
2:12:31gritty underworld crime drama that
2:12:34became just like a massive commercial
2:12:37success at this time and helped to
2:12:39launch the career of of Quinton
2:12:42Tarantino into the stratosphere. And um
2:12:47and it one of the things that's funny
2:12:48about that is just it really reminds me
2:12:50of how remember the very first
2:12:53featurelength narrative film movie in
2:12:551906 was that um movie the story of the
2:12:59Kelly gang and it was about like a gang
2:13:02of like outlaws and criminals basically.
2:13:05So we have the seeds of that in the very
2:13:09first featurelength film. And then in
2:13:111994 you have this repetition of Venus
2:13:14retrograde in Scorpio and you have one
2:13:16of the most one of the biggest or most
2:13:18successful sort of like crime type
2:13:20movies um with pulp fiction. So I I
2:13:24thought that was was pretty brilliant.
2:13:27Um, similarly, another one, again, shout
2:13:29out to Patrick Watson for this one, but
2:13:31Patrick Watson pointed out to me that in
2:13:332002 in that Venus retrograde towards
2:13:35the end of 2002, the movie uh Chicago
2:13:39came out. And this was released at the
2:13:42tail end of the retrograde cycle, but it
2:13:44was kind of this like dark, biting
2:13:46satire that was focused on the stories
2:13:49of these two women that had murdered
2:13:52people. and they were both on death row
2:13:56and it was about different themes about
2:13:58like manipulating the tabloid press and
2:14:02about all of these different like
2:14:04intense themes cuz it was also a
2:14:07musical. And some of the different
2:14:09scenes had like different women that had
2:14:11were in jail for like different things.
2:14:14And it was about um other topics like
2:14:17lawyers manipulating the media in order
2:14:19to flip or control the image of somebody
2:14:22that had done a crime and to make it
2:14:24look better. There's like a lot of
2:14:26different um themes and subtexts to
2:14:28Chicago that are just like really
2:14:30brilliant when you think about them in
2:14:32the context of Venus retrograde in
2:14:34Scorpio.
2:14:36And what was crazy is that that movie
2:14:39was like wildly successful and it went
2:14:42on to win the Academy Award for best
2:14:44picture uh just a few months later in
2:14:47early 2023 when the when the Oscars were
2:14:50in happened in March, but it was
2:14:52released under this Venus retrograde in
2:14:54Scorpio in late 2002.
2:14:57All right. So that's actually the last
2:14:59ones. So, and I'm sure there's other
2:15:02like movies or plays or books or other
2:15:06things that I didn't even like get to
2:15:09that came out during different Venus
2:15:10retrogrades in Scorpio in the past. So,
2:15:13if you happen to notice one or you find
2:15:16one, let me know in the comments section
2:15:18below this video on YouTube and then
2:15:20maybe we could collect together and do
2:15:22like a separate episode at some point
2:15:24about different things in the media or
2:15:26that emerged in stories or other things
2:15:29like that in the past because I'm sure
2:15:31we could do like a whole episode just on
2:15:33that.
Disasters
2:15:37All right, moving on to the last couple
2:15:38of sections before I wrap things up. One
2:15:41of the things that came up as I'm
2:15:43reading through dates and there's like
2:15:46different places where you can list read
2:15:47through lists of like what happened
2:15:50sequentially on this date in history. So
2:15:52like Wikipedia has a lot of good um
2:15:54pages that show things sequentially
2:15:57during different years or different
2:15:58months. But sometimes you'll come across
2:16:02um disasters where like a major disaster
2:16:04happened around the time of a Venus
2:16:06retrograde. And sometimes it's hard to
2:16:10like I experienced this during the the
2:16:12Venus retrograde in Aries where we did
2:16:14that research and in that episode we
2:16:17largely ended up skipping over and not
2:16:19mentioning a bunch of the disasters that
2:16:22we found because I had a hard time
2:16:24knowing whether those like stood out as
2:16:26unique or overly important or whether it
2:16:29was just like that disasters are sort of
2:16:32like always happening at different
2:16:34different times. But then what was weird
2:16:36is during that Venus retrograde in Aries
2:16:39some certain types of disasters that had
2:16:42occurred in the past like especially um
2:16:45we there had been like a lot of um plane
2:16:48crashes that came up during the Venus
2:16:51retrograde in Aries series in history
2:16:54and I wasn't sure if that was like a
2:16:56pattern or not but then all of a sudden
2:16:57when Venus went retrograde in in um the
2:17:00early part of what was it like 2025
2:17:03there was like this string of like
2:17:05airplanes crashes and I realized that
2:17:07that was something I should have
2:17:08mentioned. So, I did write down the
2:17:11disasters. I'm not going to go through
2:17:13all of them because there's a lot, but
2:17:14I'll mention just like I don't know,
2:17:17let's say the top five really quickly in
2:17:19the off chance that that archetypally
2:17:23some of this becomes relevant again for
2:17:25some reason in in the off chance and and
2:17:28hopefully it won't, but just for the
2:17:29sake of a little bit of completeness.
2:17:31So, for example, um the biggest one that
2:17:34I noticed that came up during a Venus
2:17:36retrograde in Scorpio was November 12th,
2:17:381970, which was the the Bola cyclone
2:17:42where there was this catastrophic
2:17:44um offshore storm surge which struck
2:17:48eastern Pakistan and modern Bangladesh
2:17:52and it triggered um well, it it killed
2:17:55this massive amount of people. it was
2:17:57like 300,000 to 500,000 people which is
2:18:00just an unimaginable
2:18:02number of people to to die in a natural
2:18:04disaster and then afterwards um the
2:18:08government did such a bad job of
2:18:09handling it that it actually triggered
2:18:12the Bangladesh liberation war after that
2:18:15point so it actually had political
2:18:17implications as well and that's one of
2:18:19the things that we kind of saw last year
2:18:21where for example we had like the Venus
2:18:24retrograde that coincided with those
2:18:26fires
2:18:27in Los Angeles is that sometimes
2:18:31afterwards like um communities can like
2:18:34come together and there's like networks
2:18:36of support that develop but also
2:18:39sometimes when disasters take place
2:18:41there's like outrage and anger and it
2:18:44leads to political change and leads to
2:18:47revising or fixing um especially like
2:18:51codes or fixing um rules and regulations
2:18:54in order to ensure that a similar
2:18:56disaster doesn't happen in the future.
2:18:59So, yeah. So, okay. So, moving on. Um
2:19:02January 13th, 1915 was the Avesano
2:19:05earthquake, which was this um earthquake
2:19:08that struck in Italy, which killed at
2:19:11least 30,000 people. So, that was a
2:19:14major earthquake in Italy. In January of
2:19:171939, there was a major earthquake that
2:19:19struck Chile, which killed an estimated
2:19:2228,000 people.
2:19:25Um, in September of 1922, there was this
2:19:29the great fire of Smeirna, which was um
2:19:34this in in Turkey there. Turkish Turkish
2:19:36national forces apparently captured this
2:19:40port city and then um incinerated the
2:19:44Greek and Armanian quarters which marked
2:19:47this really catastrophic conclusion to
2:19:50the the Greek Turkish war and killed
2:19:53tens of thousands of people. So that's
2:19:56like tied in with also the end of a
2:19:58conflict or a war, but it was also still
2:20:00a major disaster involving a fire. Um
2:20:03elsewhere in September of 1906, there
2:20:05was a major typhoon and tsunami in Hong
2:20:09Kong which um struck Hong Kong and
2:20:12destroyed thousands of vessels and
2:20:15resulted in the death of over 10,000
2:20:17people. Um there was also a earthquake
2:20:20and tsunami in September of 2018 and
2:20:23that struck Indonesia and resulted in
2:20:26more than 4,000 deaths. So I could kind
2:20:29of go on and on. I think I'll I'll leave
2:20:30it at that, but I just wanted to mention
2:20:32a few of the major ones because,
2:20:37you know, it's not all just like
2:20:38political Venus retrogrades are not all
2:20:40just like political intrigue or changing
2:20:43fashion trends or aesthetics or themes
2:20:46that come up in movies, but sometimes
2:20:48Venus retrogrades can also be really
2:20:50important for tangible um events and
2:20:52tragedies that affect people's lives and
2:20:55change the course of not just people's
2:20:58personal lives, but also the course of
2:20:59history. So, that could be a whole
2:21:02separate episode, but we'll I'll I'll
2:21:04leave it there for now.
Repetitions
2:21:07All right. I was going to have a section
2:21:09on like repetitions, but I've already
2:21:11mentioned most of these, so it's
2:21:12probably not worth repeating them where
2:21:14I said how like, you know, Theodore
2:21:16Roosevelt was born under a Venus
2:21:18retrograde in 1958
2:21:21um in Sagittarius or or near the near
2:21:24that Venus retrograde in Sagittarius and
2:21:26then he had a recurrence in 1906 when he
2:21:30wins the Nobel Peace Prize. Um I noticed
2:21:34one where the Soviet Union was created
2:21:35under that Venus retrograde in 1922 and
2:21:38then in 1986
2:21:40um there was a major there's a Venus
2:21:42retrograde in Scorpio and there was a
2:21:44major um rebellion in Kazikstan that was
2:21:48put down and this many historians regard
2:21:53that as like the beginning of the end of
2:21:55the Soviet Union because after that
2:21:58point some of the instability
2:22:02um started to spiral out of control in
2:22:04terms of that eventually culminating in
2:22:06the dissolution of the Soviet Union in
2:22:08the late 1980s and early 1990s. But that
2:22:11was kind of like interesting because it
2:22:13was kind of like the beginning of the
2:22:14end in some sense during that Venus
2:22:16retrograde in Scorpio recurrence.
2:22:19Um, elsewhere I mentioned the Rosewood
2:22:20massacre in 1923 and how Florida became
2:22:24the first state in US history to offer
2:22:26financial repi rep reparations to
2:22:29survivors in 1994 on that recurrence.
2:22:32Um, I mentioned Stan Lee and his
2:22:35recurrence with like being born on a
2:22:37Venus retrograde in Scorpio and
2:22:39releasing Spider-Man and Iron Man under
2:22:42a repetition of that in 1962 and then
2:22:44how that movie is going to come out
2:22:46later this year in in uh I think
2:22:48November of 2026.
2:22:51Um, there was an interesting one about
2:22:55wars in Vietnam in 1946 and 1954 that
2:22:58were connected to the Venus retrograde
2:23:00and a repetition of that where it went
2:23:02from like France and then switching to
2:23:07uh the United States in terms of the the
2:23:09war in Vietnam.
2:23:12Um, one other one that I haven't
2:23:13mentioned yet, which is a great
2:23:14repetition, is 1962 and the creation of
2:23:18the Kennedy Center around the time of
2:23:21that Venus retrograde in Scorpio where
2:23:24in the fall in late 1962,
2:23:27uh, President John F. Kennedy at the
2:23:29time launched a fundraising campaign in
2:23:32order to create the, uh, to create the n
2:23:35national cultural center, which is, I
2:23:37think, what they were calling it at that
2:23:39time. and they had this entire like arts
2:23:42week or something like that over the
2:23:44course of a week in order to promote and
2:23:46raise funds for this cultural center.
2:23:49And then I think I think after Kennedy
2:23:51was assassinated, they later ended up
2:23:53naming the the cultural center after him
2:23:56and it became known as the Kennedy
2:23:58Center. But then of course this topic is
2:24:01coming up in the news again right now
2:24:02because there was a recent Washington
2:24:04Post headline that I saw just this past
2:24:07week about the Kennedy Center closing
2:24:09and about this um this these there's
2:24:12these conflicts that are basically
2:24:13happening with Trump who's trying to put
2:24:15his name on the venue and then a federal
2:24:17judge rejected that. So now it's like
2:24:20being closed or something like that. And
2:24:22I'm sure that will continue to play out
2:24:24during the course of this Venus
2:24:25retrograde in Scorpio recurrence.
2:24:29Okay. So, there's other repetitions that
2:24:31I could mention, but I think it would
2:24:32just be repeating things I already said.
2:24:33So, I think that's sufficient. And um
2:24:36yeah, I think you I think you get the
2:24:37picture that sometimes when a Venus
2:24:38retrograde happens, especially if
2:24:40something new is started at that time,
2:24:43then when that Venus retrograde repeats,
2:24:46then there's something about that that
2:24:48will be something about the past that
2:24:49will be revisited for for some reason in
2:24:52the present or in the future.
2:24:55And it's like part of the symbolism of
2:24:58that is because Venus retrogrades
2:25:01when Venus turns retrograde, it starts
2:25:04not just moving backwards, but it starts
2:25:07looking backwards towards the past. And
2:25:10so during Venus retrogrades, there's
2:25:12sometimes an inherent
2:25:14um
2:25:16pastlooking orientation during those
2:25:18retrogrades. And that's why sometimes we
2:25:19see like you know ancient things, things
2:25:22from the past coming up into the present
2:25:25which sometimes can be like um aesthetic
2:25:28trends, cultural trends, political
2:25:31trends. It really depends on what it is.
2:25:34But um that's part of the inherent
2:25:36symbolism of the Venus retrograde is
2:25:38that that looking to the past.
The Planet Venus
2:25:41All right. In the final section, I want
2:25:43to talk about the planet Venus where I
2:25:46found some pretty stunning stunningly
2:25:48literal but also impressive repetitions
2:25:52when it came to Venus retrogrades in
2:25:54Scorpio. And the first one was in 1962
2:25:57during the Venus retrograde in Scorpio
2:25:59where this was NASA's Mariner 2 mission
2:26:03which completed the word the world's
2:26:05first successful flyby of another planet
2:26:10uh where you know NASA launched a
2:26:12spaceship and it was the first time
2:26:15humanity had passed a a a spacecraft by
2:26:19another planet in our solar system and
2:26:21the planet they decided to go by was
2:26:23Venus. So they sent this this probe
2:26:27basically that passed by Venus and one
2:26:30of the things that it did during the
2:26:32course of this Venus retrograde is it
2:26:34confirmed that Venus actually had a
2:26:37really toxic atmosphere and it had
2:26:39really scorching temperatures as a
2:26:42result of of its atmosphere. And so this
2:26:45kind of um
2:26:47didn't completely but it kind of put to
2:26:49an end some of the theories where they
2:26:51thought that that maybe Venus could
2:26:53still have like a habit habitable um
2:26:56atmosphere or planet or that there could
2:26:58be life on Venus, but then when they
2:27:01flew by it, they realized it had a toxic
2:27:03atmosphere and really really high
2:27:06temperatures. And so it seemed less
2:27:08likely that life could exist on Venus as
2:27:11a result of that. All right. So that's,
2:27:14you know, which is in of itself like a
2:27:16funny kind of Scorpio realization that
2:27:18the atmosphere is more toxic and more
2:27:21more hot and scorching so that it's hard
2:27:24to support life. But get this. So that's
2:27:26the first spacecraft that flies by
2:27:29another planet. Eight years later at the
2:27:32next Venus retrograde in Scorpio in
2:27:341970. Um that was when the Soviets sent
2:27:37a probe which is Venera 7 which made the
2:27:41first successful soft landing on Venus
2:27:45and they sent a probe and it actually
2:27:47landed on Venus and it survived the heat
2:27:51long enough in order to transmit data
2:27:53back to Earth. So this was a major major
2:27:57um step in terms of landing a probe on
2:28:00Venus and getting even more information
2:28:02about its atmosphere and also that it
2:28:05was like really hot and and inhospitable
2:28:07to life. So I thought that was amazing
2:28:10that it was an 8-year repetition. But
2:28:12then get this, it keeps going. So 1994
2:28:16uh NASA's Mellan SP spacecraft it
2:28:20finished or it concluded a 4-year uh
2:28:24mission or four-year journey by then in
2:28:27late 1994 deliberately plunging into the
2:28:30Venujian atmosphere and like crashing on
2:28:33Venus. And this occurred the exact day
2:28:36that Venus stationed retrograde that
2:28:39basically NASA finished up this 4-year
2:28:41mission by crashing the probe into
2:28:44Venus. And I just thought that was so
2:28:46funny and interesting given that that
2:28:48was again a repetition of Venus
2:28:51retrograde in Scorpio just like the
2:28:53first probe that was sent to Venus in
2:28:551962 and just like that other that the
2:28:58probe that landed on Venus in 1970.
2:29:02So, if that isn't funny enough, I just
2:29:05saw in the past few days just days ago
2:29:08in midepptember here of 2026, there was
2:29:11a news story about a new um astrophysics
2:29:15study that was released that suggests
2:29:18that Venus may have actually swallowed
2:29:20its own moon. that at some point in the
2:29:23in the distant past that Venus may have
2:29:25actually had a moon, but that um due to
2:29:28Venus's really incredibly slow rotation
2:29:33that it actually um pulled its moon into
2:29:36itself through its own gravitational
2:29:38force and by like relentlessly dragging
2:29:42its own satellite inward, eventually the
2:29:46moon was dragged into Venus's atmosphere
2:29:49until it was completely destroyed.
2:29:51destroyed and buried deep below the
2:29:54planet's surface. So, I thought that was
2:29:56really funny and I thought it was also
2:29:58striking symbolically at this point
2:30:00after doing all of this research and
2:30:03seeing all these different themes
2:30:04surrounding Venus retrograde in Scorpio
2:30:06emerge that like um the planet of love
2:30:10and connection literally like consumed
2:30:14its own companion satellite and moon and
2:30:18that it's sort of like hiding the
2:30:19evidence in the underworld of its like
2:30:22thick atmosphere
2:30:24And to me, this was kind of like
2:30:26symbolically reminiscent of some of the
2:30:28toxic relationship and like hidden
2:30:31trauma themes that we've seen bubble up
2:30:34with this retrograde over the course of
2:30:36the past century.
2:30:38And you know, I sort of reflecting on it
2:30:40and I thought it was really interesting
2:30:41because it's like it means that we've
2:30:44just learned something new as Venus is
2:30:46getting ready to go retrograde in
2:30:48Scorpio again. So, I thought that was
2:30:50just really funny because it's like it
2:30:51literally tells us that Venus has a dark
2:30:53past and that there's a hunger there or
2:30:57even an an obsession of sorts. And, you
2:31:01know, despite this, Venus is still a
2:31:03beautiful star nonetheless. And she
2:31:06still tries to do her best
2:31:07astrologically to do benefic.
2:31:10And sure, she may have eaten a lover or
2:31:12two along the way, but she's still
2:31:16deserving of love and redemption. And in
2:31:19some sense, aren't we all? So that's the
2:31:22that's the question and that's the point
2:31:23that I'd like to leave you with today.
Concluding Remarks
2:31:27All right, my friends, that is it for
2:31:28this episode. So, we've made it. And you
2:31:32know, as we step back now and we look at
2:31:34the entirety of this repeating 8-year
2:31:37cycle of Venus retrograde in Scorpio
2:31:40over the course of the past century, I
2:31:43think it becomes sort of like undeniable
2:31:45the the rhythm that comes along with
2:31:48those repetitions starts to emerge and
2:31:51starts to become incredibly clear and
2:31:54there's like this this recurring descent
2:31:57into the collective underworld in some
2:32:00sense.
2:32:01where we find uh the hidden, sometimes
2:32:04the toxic uh sometimes the taboo get
2:32:08sort of like dragged out of the
2:32:10collective underworld and forced into
2:32:13the light and forced into public
2:32:15consciousness in some way for better or
2:32:18worse. Sometimes for better and
2:32:20sometimes for worse. And you know
2:32:22whether we're looking at earlier in the
2:32:24the study those themes of like
2:32:27highstakes brinkmanship where these
2:32:30powerful countries are bringing you know
2:32:33bringing humanity to the the very edge
2:32:35of of nuclear war. Whether we're talking
2:32:39about massive societal reckonings with
2:32:42things like systemic trauma and civil
2:32:45rights and uh prejudices or taboss or
2:32:48other things like that or whether we're
2:32:51talking about the unearthing of
2:32:54dark cultural milestones in media of
2:32:57different sorts. I think one of the
2:32:59things that keeps coming up is that
2:33:00these periods demand that we confront
2:33:03what what lies essentially below the
2:33:06surface in the underworld or or in the
2:33:09depths. And ultimately while Venus does
2:33:13seek harmony and connection in in most
2:33:16instances in Scorpio the path towards
2:33:20that or the resolution towards that can
2:33:24only happen through this necessary but
2:33:27often painful process of sometimes
2:33:30purging and other times transforming or
2:33:34transmuting some of the more difficult
2:33:36things in order to then be able to move
2:33:39forward again like sometimes you have to
2:33:42slow down, stop, um dig up and wrestle
2:33:47with the shadow in some sense and then
2:33:50eventually once you do that and go
2:33:52through that deep internal process
2:33:55eventually you can then start moving
2:33:57forward again into onto other things.
2:34:00So, by tracking some of these different
2:34:02historical cycles, we're not just I hope
2:34:04it's clear at this point that we're not
2:34:05just like cataloging the past randomly,
2:34:08but we're actually mapping some of the
2:34:10different archetypal currents that
2:34:13continue continue to shape our world
2:34:15into the present day, especially through
2:34:17those repetitions and those 8-year
2:34:19cycles, which for for very mysterious
2:34:23reasons can can link events that
2:34:26occurred in the past, even a century
2:34:29ago, with things that are happening
2:34:31right now today in the present time. And
2:34:34some things as we'll see in the next few
2:34:36months that we can't even anticipate are
2:34:38going to come up again now. And yet
2:34:40mysteriously in the next few months, you
2:34:43will see some of the news stories and
2:34:45some of the themes or topics that I
2:34:47talked about today emerge into the
2:34:50public consciousness and become topics
2:34:52of discussion and news and politics and
2:34:55art and culture over the course of the
2:34:58next few months. during the course of
2:34:59this retrograde as it especially as it
2:35:02really gets started early next month and
2:35:04early October when Venus stations
2:35:05retrograde in Scorpio.
2:35:08So, we will check in again then in the
2:35:10future and maybe I'll do some updates to
2:35:13um see what different news stories come
2:35:15up and how the past ends up linking to
2:35:18the future. Um but otherwise, thanks a
2:35:20lot for joining me for this deep dive
2:35:22today into Venus retrograde in Scorpio.
2:35:25Uh, I really appreciate it and uh, yeah,
2:35:28I guess that's it. So, I'll see you
2:35:29again in the next episode.
