0:00Chapter number

0:0237, Dream Chasers. I'm excited about

0:04this, guys. I've been waiting to get

0:06this to you. Uh we had, um we got some

0:09amazing things happening, uh in the

0:11church we're going to tell you about

0:12later. But man, God is doing some crazy,

0:14crazy good stuff. Genesis chapter number

0:1737, uh verse number five. If you got it,

0:19say, "I got it." If you don't have it,

0:21say, "Hold up. Wait a minute." Waiting

0:23on the pages. There we go. We waiting on

0:24the page. I love it. Genesis chapter

0:26number 37, verse number five says this.

0:28Joseph had a

0:31dream and when he told it to his

0:34brothers they hated him all the

0:38more. Joseph had a dream and when they

0:42told it to his brothers they hated him

0:46all the more. I want to put a tag on

0:49this text. Joseph had a dream. I want to

0:51put a tag on this text and teach from

0:53this topic. Beyond your wildest

0:56dreams. beyond your wildest dreams. You

0:59may have a seat in the house. If you're

1:02ready for a word, say, "Oh yeah." Oh

1:04yeah. Family, a quote arrested me while

1:08I was in preparation for today's

1:11conversation. And this quote is this. If

1:14you're big enough for your dream, then

1:18your dream isn't big enough for your

1:21God.

1:23I if if you are big enough for your

1:25dream, then your dream isn't big enough

1:28for your God. That quote succinctly sums

1:33up this sermon in a sentence today for

1:35real. I mean, if if our dreams are

1:37solely dependent, watch this. If our

1:40dreams are solely dependent on our

1:43intellectual prowess, our financial

1:46fidelity or our relational orbit or even

1:49our physical abilities, then our dreams

1:51are at best the basement for what God

1:55has for us. If our dreams are totally

1:58dependent on us, our dreams are at best

2:01the basement that what God has for us.

2:04One author says it like this. He says,

2:05"Your dreams are illustrations from the

2:08book your soul is writing about you." I

2:11I love that. I want to take that even a

2:13little bit further. If y'all stay with

2:15me, we're going somewhere. I I will say

2:16that our dreams are oftentimes a glimpse

2:19into God's desired future for us.

2:22Because watch this. God never shows us

2:25what he doesn't want to

2:27do. Y'all gonna catch that Wednesday.

2:30God never shows us what he doesn't want

2:35to do. And this is why some of us feels

2:37like God won't leave me alone. It is

2:40like he keeps showing me and nudging you

2:44in directions that he has a dream for

2:46you and you keep shelfing it and

2:48explaining it away. He keeps sending

2:50confirmation after confirmation and you

2:53still aren't convinced that it's

2:55actually him that's calling you. He

2:56keeps a specific people group on your

2:59heart that you can't get away from and

3:02you're trying to figure out how come

3:04every time I go to a place that type of

3:07person is centered around me. Somebody

3:09say dreamchaser. He He keeps bothering

3:12you about a business that you talked

3:14yourself out of starting. He keeps

3:16pushing you in the same field at

3:19different jobs and you're upset about

3:21it. I'm coming to get you. He keeps

3:23nudging you about that partnership that

3:25would change the trajectory of so many

3:28people's lives in your community. He

3:31keeps reminding you year after year that

3:34there's more to you than working 40

3:36years on somebody else's job and then

3:39retiring. I'm coming to get you. He

3:41keeps constantly reiterating and

3:43reminding you that you're not too old

3:45for this and you're not too young for

3:47that. He keeps calling you out of the

3:50familiarity of your family. Uh then you

3:53keep fighting him. You you keep

3:55resisting his redirection just to follow

3:58the wellworn path of the family line.

4:01But God is trying to tell you that the

4:04dream God have mercy. The dream that he

4:06has for you is bigger than something

4:08you've ever seen.

4:11God never shows us what he doesn't want

4:14to do.

4:17So if God is budging me and if God is

4:20nudging me, if God is reminding me and

4:24if God is redirecting me, then that must

4:26mean that the dream that I have for

4:30myself is only the basement of the dream

4:34that God desires to do through me. He

4:36wants to do

4:38exceedingly

4:40abundantly

4:41above my wildest dream.

4:46If it's my dream, I'm gonna try to say

4:48this without running y'all. If it's my

4:50dream, then I'm responsible for making

4:53it come to pass.

4:57But if it's God's dream,

5:01I'm getting ready to run out of this

5:03church. If it's my dream, then I'm fully

5:07responsible.

5:08Meaning, it can only go as far as I go.

5:12But if it's God's dream, then where I

5:14end, he picks up.

5:19So now I've only got two jobs. Look at

5:22somebody say, "You got two jobs in this

5:23season. You got two jobs. You ain't got

5:26one job. You got two jobs in this

5:27season." In this season, you got two

5:29jobs. And that is to submit and then to

5:32celebrate. Submit to God's route and

5:34then celebrate your results. Submit to

5:37God's word and celebrate your provision.

5:40submit to God's redirection and

5:42celebrate what God is getting. Is there

5:44anybody in here that believes that God

5:46is getting ready to take them that just

5:48from dreams, but from dreams to doing,

5:51from concepts to creation, from ideas to

5:54implementation. I don't just want to

5:56have it in my heart. I want to see it in

5:58my hands. Is there anybody in here that

6:00can say, "God, I have a dream for my

6:03life.

6:05I don't just want to have a vision board

6:09of what I want to do.

6:12I want to have a testimony. Lord have

6:14mercy. Of what God did.

6:18Somebody say dream chasers. Dream

6:20chasers. That that that that's what it

6:22is. And and and if it's God's dream,

6:25then that's what I'm chasing. If it's

6:26God's dream, then that's what I'm

6:28chasing. I'm chasing God's dream chasers

6:31are those I want to see if I have any in

6:33the room. Dreamchasers are those who

6:36embrace and are actively pursuing God's

6:40dream for their lives, especially in the

6:43face of

6:44challenges. That they believe that God's

6:46dream is not just right, it's better.

6:52See, see, see, I lost half of the church

6:55on that last part.

6:57They are at dreamchasers are actively

7:00pursuing God. Somebody say God's dream.

7:03God's dream. God's dream in their lives

7:07especially in the face of adversity and

7:09especially in the face of challenges.

7:11Watch this. Dreamchasers believe that

7:13God's dream is not just right, it's

7:16better.

7:19This is so good to me. I've been waiting

7:21to get this to y'all since Tuesday.

7:23God's dream is not just right, it's

7:27better. And all throughout scripture, we

7:29see individuals who have left their

7:31dreams to follow God's dreams.

7:35Yeah. Yeah. As a matter of fact, the

7:36book of Genesis, the father of faith,

7:38his name is Abraham. Y'all say Abraham.

7:40Abra. A Abraham wasn't necessarily

7:42dreaming about being the father of

7:44faith. uh uh uh and and and and and and

7:46having descendants as numerous as the

7:49stars, but but God's dream was beyond

7:52Abraham's wildest dream.

7:55Moses Moses was not having dreams about

7:59being a

8:00deliverer. God tapped him on the

8:02shoulder and said, "Moses, the dreams

8:04you have for your life are limited."

8:07And then God did something through Moses

8:09by by by leading the children of Israel

8:11out of out of Egyptian bondage. He did

8:14something beyond Moses's wildest dream.

8:17He parted red seas. He He He did He sent

8:21mana from heaven. So what God did

8:23through Moses was beyond Moses's wildest

8:26dreams. And maybe, just maybe, if God

8:30did something beyond Abraham's wildest

8:32dream, maybe if God did something beyond

8:36Moses's wildest dream, maybe God is not

8:40using them for us to idolize them. Maybe

8:44God is using them as a template for what

8:47he wants to do in us. Maybe if we submit

8:51to his dream,

8:53God can do something beyond our wildest

8:55dreams.

8:57Maybe if we submit to his way, God can

9:00do something beyond our own way. Maybe

9:03if we allow God's word to invade our own

9:06will, God, I'm preaching better than

9:09y'all saying, "Amen." God will do

9:11something that eyes have not seen. H and

9:14ears have not heard.

9:18In this book of Genesis, we see an

9:21individual that God called the dream

9:24chasing and he didn't even know

9:26it. I I think that there's some powerful

9:29principles in this passage uh in the

9:31book of Genesis chapter number 37. But

9:33Genesis chapter number 1-11 really deals

9:35with all of the falls. Let me give you a

9:37little context so that you can respect

9:38the content. Genesis chapters 1-11 deals

9:42with all of the fall. the Adamic fall,

9:43the fall of Cain and Abel, the fall uh

9:45that dealt with the tower of Babel, that

9:47whole situation. Then Genesis 12 12-23

9:50deals with uh this story uh uh primarily

9:54of Abraham, the father of our faith. It

9:56journeys uh through Abraham, Genesis 24

9:58through I'm I'm saying all this for a

10:00reason. Genesis 4 24-27 is dealing with

10:03Abraham's son, Isaac. Y'all say Isaac.

10:06That's important. All right. Then then

10:07it goes on uh Genesis 28 through35 deals

10:11with Isaac's son uh Jacob and Esau,

10:14right? This whole narrative about the

10:16birthright and this and and they Okay, I

10:18don't have time to unpack it. Y'all go

10:19back and read it. And then then then the

10:21mama helped trick Isaac out of the

10:23birthright and gave it to Jacob instead

10:25of Esau. I'll come back for that. Jacob

10:28was a trickster. Jacob Jacob wrestled

10:31with the angel, right? And he said, "I'm

10:33not going to let go until you bless me."

10:35Uh then the angel uh touched Jacob's hip

10:38socket and Jacob had a limp and then uh

10:41God changed Jacob's name and this whole

10:44narrative. Genesis 37 focuses the shift

10:47from watch this watch this Isaac's son

10:50Jacob who had a son named Joseph.

10:55Now all of that's important. I didn't

10:57just say that for no reason. All of

10:58that's important. Um so we're introduced

11:00to Joseph, Jacob's son. Jacob the

11:05trickster whose names change was changed

11:08from Jacob to Israel. All right, this is

11:11important. Jacob whose name changed from

11:14Jacob to Israel is the father of Joseph.

11:18All right, hang on to that. Here we go.

11:19So So, so the first thing we see Jacob

11:24uh uh I'm sorry, Joseph, we see in

11:28Joseph we see that his whole family is a

11:30trip.

11:33Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

11:35Yeah. Yeah. Grandma and and and and and

11:38granddaddy was tripping. They was trying

11:40to trick the own family out of birth

11:42rights and and all kind of stuff was

11:44going on. And and mama was trying to

11:46play daddy to get the her favorite

11:49child, the birthright, and all of this

11:52stuff. This there's a there's a whole

11:53lot of dysfunction in Joseph's family.

11:58So, by the time we pick up our text,

11:59Joseph is 17 years old. This is going to

12:02mess you up. Here, this is Joseph. He's

12:0417 years old. But on nowhere in the

12:06Bible do you find anything negatively

12:08written about Joseph. This is important.

12:11Here it is. Joseph is a a a he is a man.

12:16Watch this. Joseph is a man that came

12:19out of a dysfunctional family.

12:22But he did not let the dysfunction of

12:24his family I'm coming to get you in

12:25here.

12:28To bleed onto his life. Wow. I'm

12:31preaching to somebody that's dis that

12:33has a dysfunctional family like me. I

12:34ain't the only one

12:37that God will often times call one

12:41person out of a family to show the

12:45family how they should be acting like

12:48that person and you're upset because

12:50you're trying to figure out why does

12:52everybody keep coming to me? I'm the

12:54youngest. Why are they asking me for

12:56$20? Why are they asking me for advice?

12:59where God will often times bring you out

13:01of a family to show your family.

13:07Look at somebody and say, "I am the

13:09exception."

13:11The exception means what happened with

13:13them does not dictate and determine what

13:16happens with me. In other words, if

13:19everybody else had to deal with that

13:20issue before it got to me, when it got

13:23to me, that generational struggle has

13:26been cut.

13:28I wish I had somebody in here that can

13:31say that I am the generational changer.

13:34Everything changes with me. My money is

13:37getting ready to change. My mind is

13:39getting ready to change. My marriage is

13:42getting ready. Is there anybody in here

13:44that can say I'm a dream

13:46[Applause]

13:49chaser? God picks Joseph.

13:55This is so good to me. So, let's pick up

13:58the text in Genesis chapter number 37

14:01verse number two. This is the account of

14:04Jacob's family

14:05line. Joseph, a young man of 17, was

14:09tending the flocks with his brothers,

14:10the sons of Bal and the sons of Zila.

14:15Those were Jacob's wives with an S. He

14:19had wives.

14:21Amen. Okay, I said dysfunction. Y'all

14:24heard me when I said this one and this

14:26for the people like, "Well, polygamy is

14:27in the Bible." Well, polygamy is never

14:30uh is never prescribed in the Bible.

14:32It's only described in the Bible. So,

14:34you'll never find a scripture where God

14:36says polygamy is right. As a matter of

14:39fact, every place where you find

14:41polygamy, there's dysfunction. I don't

14:44have time for that.

14:46Well, people in I heard one podcaster

14:48say people in the Bible had multiple

14:50wives. Well, point to a scripture where

14:52it worked.

14:56All right, let me get back to the text.

15:00Gen, remind me to say that next

15:04service. Okay. Uh, yeah. Zilpa, his

15:07father's wives, and he brought their

15:09father a bad report about them, his

15:12brothers. Joseph had had one job, and

15:15his job was to tell the father about

15:19what the brothers were doing in the

15:20field for the job that they had. That

15:23was Joseph. That was Joseph's job that

15:25he was given by Jacob. Jacob whose name

15:28changed to Israel. That's extremely

15:31important. So, so when Jacob would ask

15:34God, so when Jacob would ask, Joseph

15:37would have to tell him what was

15:39happening in the field because Joseph

15:42had one job and that is to report back

15:46to tell what his brothers were doing in

15:49the field. Okay. The father gave him one

15:52assignment that he was commissioned to.

15:54Now, here's where I'm going to mess you

15:55up. Because the father's assignment

15:58doesn't always come with your family and

16:01friends agreement.

16:05Boy, listen to me. The father's

16:08assignment doesn't always come with your

16:11family and friends agreement. Joseph was

16:14assigned to provide accountability for

16:17his brothers. The brothers had one job

16:20to do that they had agreed to actually

16:23do.

16:26However, they wouldn't always be on top

16:28of the job. So, Jacob gave Joseph the

16:30job of informing him on whether or not

16:32they were actually performing the job

16:34that they had already agreed to perform.

16:37And if you ever want to be disliked,

16:39disconnected, or disapproved of, then

16:42try to hold somebody accountable for

16:43what they said they want to do. I'm

16:46getting ready to run out of this church.

16:49Let me let me I got to pull up. I got to

16:52pull it up. All right. If you ever want

16:55to be disliked,

16:57disconnected or disapprove, then try to

17:01hold somebody accountable for what they

17:03already know they're supposed to be

17:05doing.

17:06You would be surprised. Y'all going to

17:08get mad at me. You would be surprised

17:10how many people get upset with you for

17:12checking in on what they said they

17:14wanted to do with their life. You're

17:16right.

17:20That's because you don't know anybody

17:21like this, but some people are are

17:23allergic to accountability.

17:26Some people are allergic to accountabil

17:29to accountability. It makes them break

17:31out in hives. It's cold sweats at

17:37night. But every dreamchaser needs

17:41someone to do dream checkins.

17:45Every dreamchaser needs someone to do

17:48dream check-in. What's a dream check-in?

17:50I'm glad you asked. Hey, have you

17:52started that workout plan yet? Have you

17:54have you started that morning devotional

17:56yet? Have you started saving for your

17:58dream house? Have you picked a team and

18:00served on it yet? Have you been to a

18:02church you got hurt in 2002 and you

18:05still ain't been to visit nobody's

18:06church yet?

18:11Hey, you still eating those cookies

18:13every night.

18:16I just thought I'd throw shots at me

18:17since I was throwing them at

18:19you. So, we are all in

18:22this. Have you applied for that

18:24promotion yet?

18:26Have you been reading your Bible like

18:27you said you wanted to do January 1?

18:31Have you applied for the loan yet? You

18:33put together the business plan yet?

18:36I'm just checking in on the dream you

18:37said you had. And you'll be surprised

18:39how many people get mad because they

18:42didn't do what they said they wanted to

18:44do.

18:51If you're sitting next to somebody you

18:52love, just say, "I'm just checking in."

18:54That's all. Just tell I'm not throwing

18:56shots. I'm just checking in. You You put

18:58the vision board together, so I'm

19:00checking in on where are you with the

19:02vision. You got the dream, but I'm just

19:05checking in. That's all. Joseph was

19:08doing the check-in on something that

19:10they had already agreed to do.

19:13And they ain't like that. People will

19:16get mad at you for holding them

19:17accountable for what they wanted to do.

19:20But immaturity sees accountability as an

19:22attack. Maturity sees it as advancement.

19:28Immaturity sees it as an attack.

19:30Maturity sees accountability as an

19:32advancement.

19:33So, Joseph got hate from his family

19:35because of what his father assigned him

19:37to

19:37do. And if you're going to chase God's

19:39dream, it's going to require some godly

19:43accountability. They didn't like

19:46this. And this is why, okay, watch me

19:49turn the corner. And this is why some of

19:52us have not taken our dreams off of the

19:56shelf. They didn't like the fact that

20:00Joseph was checking on them. Joseph had

20:03to deal with the fact that when he did

20:05that his friend, his his family hated

20:08him. He had to deal with that that the

20:11people that he loved want to distance

20:13between them because of what he was

20:16assigned to do by the father.

20:20The problem is we secretly want people's

20:23agreement over our own obed obedience.

20:32Sometimes we secretly want their

20:33agreement over our

20:35obedience. And and if you only move when

20:37they agree, you're not chasing a dream.

20:40You're people pleasing.

20:43Can I talk about

20:45this? People pleasers move at the speed

20:47of people's

20:49acceptance. This is why some people stay

20:51in jobs and relationships because you

20:54don't want other people to be upset. So

20:56you stay miserable so they can stay

20:58happy. Why do I got to be miserable for

21:00you to be good?

21:04You stay in environments. Some of y'all

21:05stay in relationships.

21:08Hello. Because your family likes

21:11them. So now you got to be in a living

21:14hell so that they can feel like you're

21:15in heaven.

21:19People pleasing. People pleasing. People

21:21pleasing. People pleasing. But if we if

21:24we Y'all All right. Everybody good? Just

21:26it get better at the end. I promise. I

21:27hope. You'll see we can't seek their

21:31agreement over our obedience.

21:35People plea. People

21:37pleasing moves at the speed of people's

21:41acceptance. And when they don't accept,

21:44then I don't

21:47accelerate. I don't advance when I'm a

21:51people pleaser because I'm only moving

21:52at the speed of other people's

21:53acceptance.

21:55You got to understand that their

21:56agreement is an accessory, not a

22:01necessity. People's agreement is not an

22:05accessory. It I'm sorry. It is an

22:07accessory, not a necessity. I'mma be

22:10good if I get it. And I'mma be good if I

22:12don't.

22:14If you like it, I like that you like it.

22:17If you don't like it, I don't know what

22:19to tell you. I still like it. I'm doing

22:22what the father asked me to do. Right.

22:27Y'all still here?

22:30Dream chasers. Dream chasers. Dream

22:33chasers. Dream chasers. Dream chasers.

22:35Dream chasers will have to overcome some

22:39dream

22:41challenges. Be clear. I'm not going to

22:43paint this flowery picture as if because

22:46you have a great dream, you won't have

22:48to deal with great adversity. Right.

22:51As a matter of fact, the the the

22:54the sign or the re the the the reality

22:57of adversity is an indication that your

23:00dream is great.

23:03It it is it is one author says uh the

23:08level of uh attack the enemy sends is

23:12indicative of the anxiety he has towards

23:15your future.

23:18He says the level of attack that the

23:21enemy sends is indicative of the anxiety

23:24that the enemy has towards your future.

23:27So dreamers will always deal with dream

23:30challenges. You don't get to be a dream

23:32chaser without having to deal with some

23:34dream challenges.

23:37That's not how it works. Somebody say

23:39challenges.

23:41Yeah. So let's talk practically for a

23:42moment. I'll get back to the text. I

23:44promise you th this entire series we're

23:45going to be journeying through the life

23:46of Joseph. So I don't I don't feel

23:48rushed at all. Uh next week we're

23:50talking about Joseph again. In the next

23:52few weeks we're going to be talking

23:53about Joseph again. So don't worry.

23:54Don't worry. I'll get to all of it. But

23:56I want to give you some practical

23:57challenges because some of us are

23:59dreamers and we have to deal with

24:00practical challenges. What are some of

24:02those challenges? I'm glad you asked.

24:03First, there's the people

24:05challenge. Then there's the paper

24:07challenge. Then there's the partnership

24:09challenge. And then there's the

24:11persistence challenge. It's not on the

24:13screen because this is a fresh download

24:14from heaven. The people challenge. Uh,

24:17can I chase dreams when people don't

24:19agree? The paper challenge. Can I chase

24:22my dreams without the money?

24:28Pastor said, "When my paper don't

24:31agree, my money is funny. Change is

24:34strange. Credit won't get it." There's

24:36the people challenge, the paper

24:38challenge, the partnership challenge. Am

24:40I able to accomplish God's dream without

24:43having a

24:46team? Then there's the persistence

24:48challenge. Can I accomplish God's dreams

24:51in spite of what I'm going through? Can

24:54I

24:56persist? People challenge, paper

24:58challenge, partnership challenge. Um,

25:00some of us are dealing with multiple of

25:02those. Um, but I got something I got

25:04news for you. If it's God's will, it's

25:07God's will.

25:12If it's God's dream, God will take care

25:14of it. You do everything you can in your

25:18power and go to sleep at night. Hello.

25:21Because

25:26Okay. Not only are there dream

25:28challenges, we have to deal with dream

25:30choices. Let's talk about something

25:31there. Because dream chasers have to

25:33make difficult

25:34choices. Yeah. Dream chasers have to

25:37make difficult choices. There are few

25:38dream there are a few difficult choices

25:40that every dream chaser has to make and

25:42we find these in the life of Joseph

25:44right here in in Genesis chapter number

25:4627. The first choice that we see Genesis

25:48we see Joseph having to make is this.

25:50You have to choose godly obedience over

25:53their agreement.

25:56Right? Verse number three says this. Now

25:58Israel, that's Jacob loved Joseph more

26:00than his other sons. I got to hurry up.

26:02because he had been born to him in his

26:04old age. And he made an ornate robe for

26:07him. When his brothers saw that their

26:09father loved him more than it more than

26:11them, they hated Y'all say hated. They

26:14hated him and could not speak a kind

26:17word to

26:20them. Listen to what the text says. The

26:23text says when this when his brothers

26:27saw the robe that the father I'm sorry

26:30when their brothers saw that the father

26:32loved them loved Joseph more than any of

26:34them they hated Joseph.

26:43They saw that the father loved Joseph

26:49and they looked and said, "I hate

26:53Joseph." It seems like their hate is

26:57misplaced.

27:04You never see Joseph going to the father

27:07asking the father, "Make me your

27:09favorite."

27:10You never see Joseph going to the

27:12father, running a social media campaign,

27:15crowdfunding campaign, trying to be God,

27:18be the father's favorite. All you see is

27:21the result of a father's decision. Lord

27:23have

27:24mercy. Man, I'm preaching better than

27:27y'all see.

27:28Amen. All you see is Joseph obeying Here

27:32we go. This why I lose the church. All

27:34you see is Joseph obeying the father's

27:37instruction.

27:39They get mad because they see Joseph

27:42obeying the father's instruction and now

27:44they don't like

27:46Joseph because people who are walking in

27:49disobedience hate people who are walking

27:51in obedience.

27:57That's right.

27:59Number two, I got to hurry up. Dream

28:01chasers choose. Watch this.

28:03Dreamchasers, Lord have mercy.

28:06choose proudly wearing your coat and not

28:10feel like by doing so you're trying to

28:13gloat. Okay, let's see if I can make

28:16this make

28:19sense. The father verse number three.

28:21Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of

28:23the other sons, but because he had been

28:25born to him in his old age, and he made

28:27an ornate robe. When his brothers saw

28:30that the father had loved him more than

28:32any, they hated him and could not speak

28:34a kind word to him. Now, Joseph got a

28:37decision to make because the father gave

28:40him a robe to wear. They saw how the

28:43father was treating him. Joseph has a

28:45decision. Joseph could take the robe and

28:49go put it in the

28:51closet and be silent

28:54about the father's celebration of him.

28:56Some of y'all are playing small because

28:58you don't want other people to feel like

29:00a certain way about what God is doing in

29:02your life.

29:06Some of you, you let friends come around

29:08you and talk about how bad their

29:10relationship is and you don't even want

29:11to speak up about yours is not like

29:13that.

29:15Because you don't want them to feel some

29:16kind of way. as if you being in a

29:19healthy place.

29:24You you you somebody come to you telling

29:27you about their financial issues and you

29:29can't you can't identify

29:32and you can't even say you some of us

29:34won't even say anything because we don't

29:36want them to feel any kind of way.

29:40So we're silent about our successes

29:43in the name of humility.

29:47And we think that if we speak up about

29:49our success, then that's

29:50arrogant. We think if Joseph wears his

29:53coat loudly and proudly, then Joseph is

29:55being arrogant. When that's not the

29:57truth. Arrogance is not wearing your

29:59coat. Arrogance is forgetting who gave

30:02it to you.

30:04I'm preaching better than boy.

30:07Listen, arrogance, I'm sorry. Arrogance

30:09is not wear not wearing your coat. It's

30:12forgetting who gave it to you. When you

30:14realize I didn't do nothing to earn this

30:16in the first place. The only reason I

30:18got it is because God gave. Is there

30:20anybody in here that can say God thank

30:23you? The only reason I'm still saved in

30:25the membrane

30:28[Applause]

30:32is because God did it for me. I I don't

30:36think I'm better than, but I do think

30:39I'm different from because what happened

30:41with them does not dictate and determine

30:45what

30:48the problem is Joseph's brothers was

30:50operating in insecurity. Are y'all

30:52right? A a a person's insecurity will

30:55always interpret your achievements as

30:56their adversary a as as their as their

30:59adversary. Let me say that one more

31:00again. A person's insecurity will always

31:04interpret your achievements as their

31:06adversary.

31:09So people's animosity towards your

31:10aspirations are an indication of how

31:13close you are to that dream coming to

31:16pass. And the enemy sees you're almost

31:20there. He doesn't sit back. He ramps up

31:23the attack.

31:29But I'm choosing in this season and

31:31maybe 16 of y'all will catch this. I'm

31:34choosing to wear my coat proudly. If God

31:38gave it to me, I'm using it. If God gave

31:41it to me, I'm not silent about it. Yes,

31:44I'm gifted. Yes, I'm called. Yes, I'm

31:48anointed. And

31:50the pro if you have a problem with it,

31:52the problem is not with me.

31:54Look at somebody say, "Take it up with

31:56the father." Take it up. I didn't choose

31:58myself.

32:00I got to hurry up.

32:03Verse verse number three. Lord, we still

32:05in one verse. Lord have

32:06mercy. Now, now Israel loved Joseph more

32:10than any of the other sons. For verse

32:12number four, when his brothers saw that

32:15the father loved him more than any of

32:17them, they hated him.

32:20They hated Joseph because of the coat

32:24that Joseph

32:27wore. They they the text didn't say that

32:30they hated Joseph just because of

32:34Joseph's

32:36personality. The the implication or the

32:39inference here is that they hated Joseph

32:42because of what was on him.

32:48They they they hated Joseph because of

32:51what he wore.

32:55He wore what he had on was a rep the

33:00coat that he wore. The physical coat

33:02that he wore was an a representation or

33:05it represents the father's favor on his

33:08life.

33:13The coat was a representative of the

33:16father's favor. What's favor? I'm glad

33:19you asked. Favor is a public display of

33:20affection from the father to whomever he

33:23desires for whatever reason he deems.

33:27Favor is when God desires to do

33:31something publicly for you for whatever

33:34reason he chooses. and he can choose

33:36whoever he wants

33:40to. The text though, the text says,

33:44y'all got to go back and read it. We

33:46still in one verse, that they hated him

33:49when they saw him

33:51coming. They hated him when he put the

33:54coat

33:56on. Why is that important? Oh, I can

34:00tell you why that's important. It's

34:02important because of the type of coat

34:03that Joseph

34:04wore. See, the coat that he wore was a

34:07long sleeve coat. One uh scholars

34:10suggest that the coat actually went down

34:13to his ankles,

34:15right? So, if you were working in the

34:17field, you wouldn't wear that. That the

34:19coat that Joseph wore was more of a

34:21supervisory or uh man managerial type of

34:25situation he had on. He he he the coat

34:29that Joseph wore was not for him to

34:31work. It was for him to watch.

34:37The coat that he had on. So when they

34:39saw him coming, they said, "Oh, he must

34:42think he better than

34:44us. They he must think we supposed to

34:49just do all the work while you walk

34:52around flaunting your little coat.

34:57See, insecure people will think your

34:59attire is indicative of your attitude.

35:04Joseph wasn't thinking any of that, but

35:07the insecurity that lived on the inside

35:09of some other people.

35:14Lord, I got to go, y'all. Number three,

35:18dream chasers choose favor over

35:22fear. They they Yeah. Yeah. When you

35:25have faith, when you really understand

35:26that favor is the father's public

35:28display of affection over your life.

35:31When you understand that, do you

35:32understand? I don't need to be afraid of

35:34naysayers. I don't need to be afraid of

35:36the enemy. I don't have to be afraid of

35:39who got what and who does what. I might

35:41not have the degree, but the favor is on

35:45that. Did you know that favor makes the

35:47difference? Let me preach to somebody.

35:50Did you know that favor will make up the

35:52difference? that that that there will be

35:54seasons where you'll walk into rooms

35:56where other people have been killing

35:58themselves to get into and they'll try

36:00and figure out who do you know that

36:02allows you to be in this room and you'll

36:04look back and tell them favor got me

36:06here. There's going to be times in your

36:08life where God is going to bless you

36:10with stuff that you didn't earn. He's

36:12going to give you things that you do not

36:14deserve and you're they going to ask

36:16you, "How in the world are you able to

36:18do this knowing everything that I know

36:20about you?" and you're going to look at

36:22him with a smile on your face and say,

36:23"Favor bought this for me." It's not

36:26because I've been so good. It's because

36:28God is, is there anybody in here that

36:30can say, "God, thank you for favor.

36:33Favor over my life, favor over my mind,

36:37favor over my marriage, favor over my

36:40money, favor over my family, favor."

36:45Somebody shout favor.

36:50Joseph Joseph was walking in favor. Yes,

36:54sir. And uh Joseph was walking in favor.

36:58He never asked the father for a robe.

37:04The father said, "You've been obedient

37:08to my instruction that I gave you

37:12because here's my problem. Here is the

37:15pro. I've been waiting all day to tell

37:16you this. The problem is the brothers

37:20spent so much time hating. They didn't

37:23realize if they would have been doing

37:25what the father told them to do, they

37:28could have got a robe, too.

37:31It's not that he was out of material. He

37:34just was looking for somebody that would

37:36be obedient.

37:38And God has said that there's blessings

37:40that I have in storage for you, but I

37:43can't just give it to you. I need you to

37:46be obedient.

37:51There could have been 12 robes out

37:52there,

37:54but there was only one who was being

37:55obedient.

37:58Maybe, just maybe, God is holding up

38:00some stuff

38:04because there's some instruction we

38:06haven't followed.

38:10Maybe maybe God says, "I can't give you

38:13that. Not

38:14now." Cuz I told you to do the last

38:17thing and you out in the field playing.

38:25You You You out in the field playing,

38:27but you want me to bless you with a fill

38:29in the

38:30blank. And guys, I can't give you fill

38:33in the blank if you ain't following the

38:36instructions I gave you last

38:38season. It's

38:40quiet, but this is for dream

38:43chasers. Touch somebody and say, "It's

38:45on you. It's on you. It's on you." Come

38:47on, y'all. It's on you. It's on you.

38:49Favor will make the difference. You

38:50might not have the degree, but you got

38:52favor. You might not have all the money,

38:54but you got favor. You might not have

38:56the network, but you got favor. You

38:58might not have the support, but you've

38:59got favor. You might not have all the

39:01tools, but you got favor. When favor is

39:03on your life, favor will make up the

39:06difference. The only issue I had, I'm

39:08done with Joseph. The only issue I had,

39:11y'all, I'm'll be honest. I look at this

39:14story and we're going to talk about this

39:15throughout the next few weeks, and we

39:17only we are in one verse

39:19today. Verse number three, I guess,

39:22verse number three and four. And um

39:25here's something that's interesting.

39:27The text says when they saw Joseph

39:29coming, they hated him. The text says

39:32when they saw the father loved Joseph

39:34more than the other brothers, they hated

39:35him. The text says uh when they saw him

39:39walking around with his

39:41robe, they hated him.

39:44Watch this. They hated Joseph and they

39:48hadn't even heard about his dream yet.

39:52We got to the dream. We still in verse

39:55three and four. They hating on me and I

39:58haven't even told them my dream.

40:03One thing I wish Joseph would have

40:05done. Now I mean there's no negative

40:07language about Joseph in the whole text.

40:09That means Joseph by all accounts is an

40:10upstanding individual. Man, not perfect,

40:13but he's an upstanding individual. One

40:16thing I wish I'm like, man, Joseph, you

40:17could have is found in the next verses.

40:21He goes to his brothers knowing that

40:23they hate him. He goes to his brothers

40:27and and watch what happens. He starts up

40:29a conversation with

40:32them and uh he starts talking to them.

40:37Now, here's the issue. The issue,

40:40pastor, what are you talking about?

40:40What's wrong with talking to people?

40:42Well, the issue is that he starts

40:45sharing stuff with them.

40:47He starts giving them a level of access

40:49into his uh into his dream that they

40:52didn't qualify themselves for.

40:55He starts divulging information to

40:58people who couldn't appreciate

41:01it. Verse number five said, "Joseph had

41:03a dream and when he told the dream to

41:05his brothers, they hated him all the

41:06more." Wait, you hated

41:09me because I was walking in the field.

41:11You hated me when I had on my robe. You

41:13hated me because my father and now when

41:14I tell you my dream, you hate me even

41:16more.

41:20Dream chasers have to choose discernment

41:23and discretion concerning their

41:27communication. You've got to be careful

41:30not to dulge your dream. The the the the

41:33Bible tell says like this be be careful

41:35not to cast your pearls before swine.

41:39It is this idea don't take something

41:42valuable and place it to people who do

41:45not appreciate it or cannot appreciate

41:48it. And Joseph I don't know why he was

41:51doing that. Let's just this is a real

41:53person. So just indulge me for a moment.

41:56Why would

41:58Joseph tell people that he knew hated

42:01him about his dream?

42:06Maybe he thought, let me start up a

42:09conversation with them. And maybe if I

42:11initiate the the

42:14conversation, maybe

42:16that'll make them want to talk and maybe

42:18they'll see that it's not about what I

42:20have on. I'm not even tripping about

42:22this little coat. Daddy gave it to me. I

42:23love it. But

42:25hey, maybe Joseph wanted their approval

42:28that bad.

42:33So then the question becomes for

42:35us. If God wants to do something beyond

42:38our wildest

42:39dream, who should I be talking to about

42:43it? I wish Jo this one thing I wish

42:46Joseph would have did straight up. I

42:48wish I wish the text would have said

42:51Joseph had a dream and Joseph stopped

42:54and prayed to God about the dream.

42:58I wish that's what it said, but that's

43:00not what it says. It says Joseph had a

43:02dream and then he went and talked to his

43:04brothers. Some of us are talking to

43:06people about stuff we should be talking

43:07to God

43:12about. God says, "I want to do something

43:14beyond your wildest dreams." Whatever

43:17dream we have is at the basement of what

43:20God desires to do in our

43:23lives. He wants to do exceedingly.

43:27He wants to do

43:28abundantly above

43:30beyond our wildest dreams. Would you put

43:34your hands together if you receive that

43:35message today? Come on y'all stand to

43:36your

43:41feet. I want to I want to pray over you.

43:44I want to pray that God Watch this God

43:49won't leave you alone.

43:51I want to pray that God will not leave

43:54you alone in the most loving way. That

43:56he will not leave you alone until you

43:59say yes and until you start walking with

44:02pastor, you don't understand. I don't

44:04have the God is like you got

44:07me. Well, I don't know who the God says

44:10you got

44:11me. I want to pray. Father, in the name

44:13of Jesus, I pray for every person that's

44:15here, every heart, every hand that's

44:17lifted, every heart that's open. My

44:20prayer is simple, God, that the things

44:22that you placed on on our hearts, many

44:25of those things, God, are things to

44:26impact people

44:28groups that are close to your

44:31heart. And our prayer is simple. Father,

44:34in the name of

44:36Jesus, would you help us to

44:40embrace this major dream that you have

44:42for us that yes, it's bigger than us,

44:45but it's not bigger bigger than you.

44:48Thank you for sending everything that's

44:50needed.
