0:01Everybody, today we're talking about
0:05the idea of 100% American society, which
0:08was tied to fears related to immigration
0:12during the 1910s and the 1920s.
0:15Now,
0:16something you might want to do along
0:18with listening to this lecture and
0:20taking notes by hand
0:23is doing a little textbook reading for
0:26context. Right? So, particularly the
0:29chapters
0:3018 through 20
0:33in the Foner textbook are helpful. And
0:36in particular, the
0:3820th chapter discusses some specific
0:41ideas that I'm referencing in lecture
0:43today. So, if you haven't uh done that
0:46yet, go back and do that uh
0:49either before or after you listen to
0:52this lecture.
0:53All right. So,
0:55as I said, we're talking about the idea
0:57of uh 100% American society in the
1:021920s.
1:04Uh it was during this decade that a
1:07debate about who got to be an American
1:11reached a boiling point.
