0:00so you want to learn faster and more
0:02effectively than any person you know
0:04you're in the right place I don't care
0:06whether you want to cook the perfect
0:07meal make a million dollars or discover
0:09the meaning of life there's only one
0:11skill that you need to be successful in
0:13anything that you do it's called the
0:15skill of learning now you may be sitting
0:17there thinking well I've been learning
0:18my whole life I think I'm pretty good at
0:20it we buckle up because I have some bad
0:22news for you think back to when you were
0:24in school your teachers would lecture
0:26you about history and science and tell
0:28you to go home and Learn by reading the
0:30textbook the problem is you never
0:31learned how to actually learn no one
0:34ever sat you down and told you the cheat
0:36codes to quickly and effectively
0:38absorbing information into your mind
0:40after all these years I'm going to give
0:42you the secret formula and teach you how
0:43to learn anything faster than anyone you
0:46know the first principle is absolutely
0:48essential for you to know it's called
0:49the 8020 rule the 8020 rule states that
0:5280% of your results come from only 20%
0:54of your effort so what does that mean
0:56for you well if you're trying to learn a
0:58new language instead of memorizing in
1:00thousands of words and complex grammar
1:02rules focus on the thousand most
1:04commonly used words and learning how to
1:06form basic sentences oh you want to
1:08learn how to cook focus on mastering the
1:10fundamentals first chicken pasta eggs
1:14rice Etc put a little salt and pepper on
1:16that and boom you're already a better
1:18Chef than half the people I know and
1:20please challenge me in the comments
1:21below I bet you can't name a single
1:23skill where mastering the basics first
1:25doesn't make you better more quickly the
1:27truth is most people over complicate
1:29things and waste time on details that
1:31don't matter if you focus on the 20%
1:33that drives 80% of the results you'll
1:36get way better way faster than everyone
1:38else now the second principle may shock
1:41you anytime you're trying to learn
1:42anything new I want you to have one
1:44single goal in mind to fail over and
1:47over and over again as quickly as
1:49possible now you're probably thinking
1:51what the is this guy talking about I'm
1:53here to learn things not fail well
1:55you're going to want to hear me out if
1:56your goal is to learn how to go viral on
1:58social media but from day one every
2:00single post you put out gets a million
2:02likes what did you actually learn you
2:04learned nothing you do not learn from
2:06succeeding the only time you ever learn
2:09is after you fail if you want to learn
2:11how to shoot a basketball you have to
2:12miss a shot first so you can take a step
2:15back and reflect on what you did wrong
2:17sure would going viral on social media
2:19every time or never missing a basketball
2:21shot be amazing of course but that's not
2:24real life the point is you only learn by
2:27failing first so by that logic it would
2:29only make sense to fail as much and as
2:31quickly as possible the Learning Cycle
2:33at its very core has four stages one
2:37experiencing that failure two taking a
2:39step back to reflect on what went wrong
2:41three taking in more information like
2:44watching videos or reading books and for
2:46improving on your mistakes then simply
2:49just repeat now I have a cheat code for
2:51fast laning this process in cognitive
2:53tasks like studying for an exam or
2:55learning a new language let's say for
2:57example you're studying for an exam on
2:59World War II I want you to close the
3:01book then ask yourself questions like
3:03explain what happened in World War II
3:05from there recite everything you know
3:07almost pretend like you're the one
3:09teaching once you eventually hit a
3:10roadblock jot that down then go back to
3:12reading so you can fill that Gap after
3:14that just keep repeating this process by
3:17doing this you're failing instantly
3:19every couple of minutes this cheat code
3:21is known as active Recall now this final
3:23principle is arguably the most important
3:26of all it's going to sound ironic but to
3:28learn more quickly you need to learn
3:29learn more slowly I know you clicked on
3:32a video called how to learn anything
3:33fast but by learning more slowly you
3:36actually learn quicker let me explain
3:38your brain like your body is a muscle it
3:40only has so much capacity for one day of
3:43taking in new information if your brain
3:45wasn't like this we could work all day
3:47long without getting tired now think
3:49about that one topic or skill that
3:51you're trying to learn currently I can
3:52guarantee that it has many subtopics in
3:55the overarching goal let's take the
3:57example of cooking if you're trying to
3:58learn knife SK skills perfect seasoning
4:01sauce making boiling pasta and Grilling
4:03all in one session you're going to walk
4:05away about 1% better at each skill now
4:08if you only tried grilling a single
4:10piece of chicken you'd probably improve
4:1220% or more in just grilling if you do
4:14the math you've just learned the overall
4:16skill of cooking four times faster when
4:18you slow down and take the time to build
4:20each skill until it becomes a habit
4:22you'll improve faster than 99% of people
4:25who try to do everything at once and end
4:27up mastering nothing the cool part is
4:29that this principle applies everywhere
4:31learning a new sport focus on mastering
4:33one movement at a time trying to get
4:35better at chess master one opening
4:37before jumping to complex strategies
4:39want to be a better speaker work on
4:41pausing in Clarity before worrying about
4:43fancy words now in order to truly learn
4:46anything there's still one piece of the
4:48puzzle missing you need to genuinely
4:50believe that you can do it this is
4:51called a growth mindset the belief that
4:54no matter where you're starting from you
4:55can improve if you put in the effort in
4:57honestly you need to take this belief to
5:00almost a delusional level if you want to
5:02learn something you need to be so
5:04confident in your ability to figure it
5:05out that failure isn't even an option
5:08think about it you've already done this
5:09before you learned to walk talk read and
5:12write you weren't born knowing how to do
5:14any of those things but you figured them
5:16out so why should this be any different
5:18and if this thing you're learning is
5:20truly important to you then it's not
5:22just about effort it's about immersion
5:24it should be the thing you're thinking
5:25about in the shower before bed when
5:27you're zoning out in class or work if
5:30you're serious about mastering this you
5:32need to be obsessed that's the mindset
5:34difference between people who kind of
5:36learn something and people who Master it
5:38which one are you going to be at the end
5:40of the day learning anything fast comes
5:42down to focusing on the right things
5:44mastering one step at a time and
5:46believing so strongly in your ability to
5:48improve that success becomes inevitable
5:51I'll see you in the next one
