0:27securing her status as a global super
0:30star it's a long it makes me want to
0:33raise the bar on the music I'm making
0:35how Taylor found her voice along the way
0:37changing the music business forever
0:40music is the way that complex emotions
0:42become more simple plus stories behind
0:45her biggest hits you know what that
0:47didn't work out but it was worth
0:49something on set of her acting roles I
0:51got killed and inside her relationship
0:54with Unexpected Love Travis Kelce I
0:57never say never to anything when it
0:58comes to love what's next and how she's
1:01really just getting started how lucky am
1:04I Entertainment Tonight presents ET

1:09maximalism it's just a lot of a
1:12lot we're celebrating all things Miss

1:19Taylor's trajectory from her fearless
1:21start to her current billionaire era are
1:24you ready for it it's a love story we
1:28are never ever ever
1:31sh it sh it I write songs about my
1:34feelings like that's my
1:36job red in aisle 4 we've got
1:40cameras um ET you have the exclusive you
1:43have everything everyone wants sure we
1:46all know Taylor can write a hit song
1:48she's been doing it consistently for
1:50almost 20 years we also know she's an
1:52expert Storyteller who started out
1:56country tears
1:59and swiftly conquered the pop and indie
2:02rock charts just because she could
2:04another thing we know she's a pro at
2:06Reinventing herself while still staying
2:08true to who she is like at the end of
2:11the day yeah you have a career yeah
2:13you're in headlines whatever you're
2:15living a life and I live in a world
2:18where my grandkids are going to get to
2:20Google what I wore today you got to live
2:22a life you got to live a life you're
2:23going to be proud of but did you know
2:26she's the first musician to hit
2:28billionaire status solely on the
2:30earnings of her songs and performances
2:32no side hustles and she's basically
2:34broken every other record in the book
2:37really yes how'd I do that well let's
2:39just say it took a lot of hard work and
2:41a very clear Vision we can leave the
2:45Christmas light up till
2:49January this is our place we made the
2:53rules I wouldn't want to do this if I
2:55didn't have 100% control over what I
2:58wear what my message is what my lyrics
3:02are what songs I sing on stage the set
3:04list the flow of the show I I wouldn't
3:07want to do this if if it was up to
3:08somebody else to decide that because um
3:11if we succeeded and we had a amazing
3:13tour it would be somebody else's Vision
3:15that got us there and if it failed I'd
3:16be really mad I'd be like why didn't you
3:18let me make those choices so let's break
3:20it down by the numbers starting with
3:22Taylor's newest release straight from
3:24the tortured poet Department the
3:27tortured poets Department sold 2 6
3:30million copies in its opening week
3:32welcome to the ays tour her current ays
3:35tour is taking in over $17 million per
3:38show and is projected to earn over $2
3:40billion in ticket sales Stars including
3:43Tom Cruz Ashton and Mila Paul McCartney
3:46Liam Hemsworth even Prince William
3:48George and Charlotte have been in
3:50attendance helping to make it the
3:52highest grossing concert tour of all
3:57time I love it when my lyrics get quoted
4:00places like when I go on someone's
4:02Facebook page and it's a fan and they
4:03quoted some one of my lyrics it's such a
4:05cool
4:10compliment but the Adoration of swifties
4:13isn't the only love thrown Taylor's way
4:15Taylor Swift Taylor Swift Taylor Swift
4:18at 19 she became the youngest person
4:20ever to win the country music
4:22association's Entertainer of the Year
4:23award I will never forget this moment
4:26because in this moment everything that I
4:29have I've Ever Wanted has just happened
4:31to me you can't take them all I can't
4:34take them all you you can't to them all
4:36yeah I can I've dreamed about things
4:38like this and nights like this but I
4:40didn't think that they actually happened
4:41in real life over her career Taylor's
4:43racked up 14 Grammys 40 American Music
4:46Awards 39 Billboard Music Awards and 23
4:50Video Music Awards just to name a few I
4:52don't kind of operate under the attitude
4:56of oh well you know I've won awards
4:58before of course I'm going to continue
4:59you to get nominated for them and that
5:01keeps you in perspective people are
5:03always like you know talking about
5:05people who get a big head and they they
5:07lose perspective and they just all of a
5:09sudden are so hard to work with and they
5:11throw tantrums and they're like whatever
5:14I think that's when you stop realizing
5:16that this could go away but it's not all
5:19hard work and no play for Taylor She's
5:21also living her best life in love with
5:23boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs tight
5:25end Travis Kelce and then there's the
5:27biggest pop store in the world Taylor
5:28Swift time aine's 2023 person of the
5:31year has also proven herself to be a
5:33Savvy businesswoman when her former
5:35record label sold her master recordings
5:37against her wishes she took back her
5:39power and re-recorded Taylor's version
5:42massively outselling the original
5:44recordings I still remember the first
5:49fall of snow and how it glened as it
5:53fell and the BMA goes too tellor St
6:00we wouldn't have been able to make this
6:01short film if it weren't for you the
6:08fans because I wouldn't be able to
6:12re-record my albums if it weren't for
6:14you the fans are the people who turned
6:16it into something very empowering where
6:19when they they were just saying to me
6:20over and over again we want to listen to
6:22your versions if you redo it that's what
6:24we'll listen to so if they hadn't if
6:26they hadn't done that I don't think I'd
6:28be having this
6:30amazing exciting experience it's no
6:33wonder NYU offers a class all about
6:36analyzing Taylor's
6:38[Music]
6:40career but before Taylor became well
6:43Taylor Swift she was just a kid with a
6:45dream
6:47guitar
6:49I am happy I think when I started
6:53playing guitar and writing songs that's
6:55when I realized that it was what I loved
6:57more than anything I was 12 this is a
6:59song I wrote yesterday and it's about a
7:03girl who's just
7:05different
7:07[Music]
7:09forever those Home Videos in Miss
7:11Americana are everything Taylor was
7:14named after her parents favorite singer
7:16James Taylor she grew up on a Christmas
7:18tree farm in Pennsylvania but later
7:20begged her parents to move to Nashville
7:23they saw that it wasn't just a phase
7:25they just they just jumped they just
7:26moved across the country
7:31at 14 Taylor became the youngest person
7:34ever to sign a music publishing deal
7:35with Sony in 2016 she dropped her debut
7:39album and that's when we first met her
7:41backstage at the CMAs the album came out
7:44last week and it's just it's so exciting
7:45for me cuz I got to write every song on
7:47that album your new single is Tim McGraw
7:49correct yes my single's called Tim
7:51mcra Tim
7:54MC
7:56think it's about to go into top 10 on
7:59radio
8:00and um you know it's crazy to me because
8:03this song I wrote in 15 minutes the
8:05first time I heard that song was was the
8:07demo of it I heard that she she had
8:09written it in math class
8:14tayor almost wanted an ACM award and I I
8:17have one now it's really
8:19[Applause]
8:20exciting this performance is a
8:22performance I've been dreaming up since
8:24I was about 10 you have said no you have
8:28home meeting with the producer of the
8:30show and I said would it be crazy to
8:34have it rain inside and he was like done
8:39yes even then Taylor was a creative
8:41Mastermind and at 18 years old she knew
8:44how to deliver was that on audio
8:46interference you want me to repeat cuz I
8:48was rambling too and I'd rather get a
8:49clean one I looked in the camera sorry I
8:52always do that and she wasn't just
8:54clever she was kind you look nice today
8:57I like your outfit nice me to meet you
9:00how are you awesome she was also ahead
9:03of her time connecting with her fans
9:05online long before Facebook Twitter or
9:07Instagram honestly Myspace is what kind
9:10of helped me build to this level I
9:11really like to put stuff about who I am
9:14as a person because that's what my space
9:15I thought was supposed to be
9:20for so it was no surprise that her
9:22sophomore album Fearless went straight
9:24to number one and stayed there so long
9:26it still holds the record for a female
9:28countryart artist Taylor
9:32Swift is this a turning point right now
9:34in your life you know you make an album
9:36and you write songs about real people
9:38and you tell your stories and you put
9:40yourself out there and I don't think I
9:41ever imagined that the songs that I
9:43wrote In My Bedroom would end up getting
9:45me this yeah long story short that was
9:47just one of the secrets behind Taylor
9:49Swift success and she wasn't shy about
9:52sharing it all if I talk to you for more
9:54than 5 minutes I'm probably going to
9:56write a song about
9:58you write on my own songs and so I'm
10:01inspired mostly by Boys honestly so I'm
10:05not
10:06[Music]
10:08princessy t but her rise to stardom
10:11definitely came with highs Taylor
10:14Swift and Lowe's thank you so much for
10:17giving me a chance to win a VMA award yo
10:21Taylor I I'm really happy for you I'm
10:24let you finish but Beyonce had one of
10:26the best videos of all time
10:30at the time I didn't know they were
10:32booing him doing that I thought that
10:34they were booing me the whole crowd
10:37booing is a pretty formative
10:41experience Taylor was 19 when all that
10:44went down B but what's Sweeter Than
10:46Fiction is that four months later she
10:48won her first four Grammys and in her
10:50next chapter of Music 20-year-old Taylor
10:53had a lot to say well the album is
10:56called speak now for me this album is
10:59more personal than anything I've ever
11:01put out because um the last two years
11:05have been really
11:08[Music]
11:09[Applause]
11:10intense I don't know exactly how I feel
11:13about something until I write that song
11:14about it and that's how I know music has
11:16helped me so much in just uh getting
11:19through
11:22life the name red came from um the idea
11:26that you know there are really that
11:29color is a really bold color that to me
11:31represents really bold
11:34emotions do any of the guys ever ask you
11:36in the beginning hey are if this doesn't
11:38work out are you going to write about me
11:39no they say that in the ending they do
11:42yeah they they say that when we're
11:43breaking up and they're like you better
11:44not write a song about this and I'm like
11:46oh I won't and then I
11:48[Music]
11:51do call it what you want but some fans
11:54favorite songs are believed to be
11:55inspired by the men from Taylor's past
11:58we're looking at you Jak gyllen Hall
11:59John Mayor and Harry Styles and while
12:02Taylor has always dropped Clues like an
12:04airplane necklace or a scarf you won't
12:06catch her naming name I just feel like
12:08that's the one thing I have though
12:10everybody like takes everything else
12:13that that happens in my life and like
12:15makes it their own thing so you'll never
12:16tell us who it's about probably not no
12:19maybe in a memoir when I'm
12:21[Music]
12:2780 I mean I think I I I think I feel
12:29things intensely I think I write about
12:31things in a really intense way and
12:33that's kind of how I take it
12:37out looking back on my career there have
12:39been so many different musical phases
12:43yes from country to pop to folk to a
12:45tortured poet I think I I became really
12:48obsessed with poetry when I was in grade
12:50school and then took it further and be
12:52became a songwriter Taylor admits she
12:54loves a sad song and there are some
12:56heart- wrenchers on this most recent
12:58album that swifties believe are about
13:00singer Maddie Healey and her
13:02ex-boyfriend of six years Joe Allen
13:05so
13:06[Music]
13:09long but Taylor also wants to be clear
13:12that with this record the chapter closed
13:14there's nothing left to avenge and no
13:16scores to settle this life that I live
13:19where you write songs about things that
13:21even the things that don't work out it
13:23it's kind of like a justification system
13:25you're like you know what that didn't
13:26work out but it was worth something cuz
13:28it made me feel something of course we
13:31all know Taylor's Latest Inspiration
13:33boyfriend and Kansas City Chief's tight
13:35end Travis
13:37[Applause]
13:38[Music]
13:39Kelsey that line from one of Travis's
13:42favorite Taylor songs is rumored to come
13:44from this moment back in 2016 long
13:47before they ever met Taylor Swift Ariana
13:49Grande Katy Perry Taylor Swift would be
13:52the kiss and then ktie what's the last
13:56one Flash Forward eight years and
13:58sources tell us Taylor and Travis are
14:00doing amazing and their loved ones see
14:02an engagement coming sooner than later
14:04it would be nice to have a family I
14:06think that it would be wonderful to to
14:09end up with the right person well Taylor
14:11and Travis were totally giving wedding
14:13Vibes when he made his surprise
14:14appearance on stage with her in London
14:17wearing a top hat and tails London's
14:19always an amazing City you know I got to
14:21go support of course fans are convinced
14:23there are invisible strings tying these
14:25two together proof that they're meant to
14:28be long there was
14:31some
14:33invisible first the numerology combine
14:36his jersey number 87 and her favorite
14:38number 13 and yep that adds up to 100 I
14:43like a guy with like a witty banter kind
14:45of sense of humor because after a while
14:48in a relationship you're going to run
14:49out of things to talk about so when you
14:51do it's good to have somebody who can
14:53laugh about nothing and talk about
14:54nothing and just pull jokes out of
14:56midair like a best friend yeah
14:59she's so amazing at what she does um and
15:03to find that creativity to see where she
15:06likes to pull things from and just
15:07really how she listens to music is is
15:09very eye openening to
15:12me9 both Travis and Taylor were born in
15:151989 and then there's this the first
15:18lyrics on Taylor's 2017 reputation
15:21[Music]
15:23album that killer reference lines with
15:26his Instagram handle killer trap and
15:28then there's this signature move they've
15:30both been making for
15:34years you guys both are so busy how do
15:37you make it all work is it just you
15:39prioritize what's important we're both
15:42uh very uh career-driven I think we both
15:45love what we do um and uh you know any
15:48chance that I can you know show my
15:50support to her and knowing that she's
15:52shown me all the supporting the world
15:53throughout the season um it's just been
15:55an amazing experience you know getting
15:57not
15:58[Music]
16:00I never say never to anything when it
16:02comes to
16:12love I'm really attracted to sparkly
16:15things and sparkly
16:18dresses yeah Taylor can polish up real
16:21nice and while her style has evolved
16:23over the eras one trend has stuck
16:25whether it's a mini dress bodysuit or
16:27knee high boots Taylor knows how to
16:29serve up the
16:31Shimmer I love dressing up you know so
16:34this is so much fun for
16:36me it's big and it's really heavy it's
16:39like 30 lbs it's like walking around in
16:42a bag of rocks but I'm I'm really
16:44excited to be wearing this bag of
16:46rocks this is Tiffany's and these are
16:49all diamonds set in Platinum I'm wearing
16:53jewelry that is like so much more
16:55expensive than my house I think my gone
16:59through lots of phases with fashion
17:00whether it's you know like cowboy boots
17:02and dresses and curly hair and then I
17:04got bangs and then it's just like I
17:06think one of my favorite things about
17:07fashion is how much you can change it
17:09there was the country glamour phase then
17:12fairy tale Vibes and old Hollywood I
17:15take a lot of inspiration from um
17:18fashion throughout the
17:20decades two of Taylor's go-to makeup
17:22looks a cat eye sharp enough to kill a
17:24man and that red lip classic thing that
17:27we like either do a heavy eye or a red
17:30lip never both or else it'll just you'll
17:33scare
17:34people T's trick to keeping the lipstick
17:36in place apply block with a tissue dab
17:39with some powder then reapply I just
17:41like red a lot more now than my album's
17:44called red I'm drawn to it
17:46more Taylor has made an art form out of
17:49coordinating her outfits with her album
17:51covers we've seen it with reputation
17:53lover and
17:56midnight but sleuthy Swifty think that
17:59in the months leading up to the tortured
18:01poets Department Taylor was secretly
18:03dropping track names with her fashion
18:05choices there was the Amy hair clip the
18:08robin shoes the Cassandra handbag and
18:11her white dress and black gloves at the
18:12Grammys well it was kind of giving the
18:18[Music]
18:24albatross Taylor Swift gave us literal
18:27movie star vibes having a fling with
18:29Scott Eastwood in 2014's Wildest Dreams
18:32music video but in reality Taylor's
18:34Hollywood dreams already came true 5
18:37years
18:39[Music]
18:40earlier I got killed and uh what kind of
18:43injury is this this is a sta wound I
18:46hate you I'm
18:49always it's wet and cold and I'm like
18:52shaking but the the trick to being a
18:54dead body is you can't you can't move
18:56and you can't breathe and you can't like
18:59you've got to keep that stare at one
19:01position it's
19:04hilarious yeah there was a body and a
19:06crime back in 2009 when Taylor slayed
19:09her acting debut guest starring on CSI
19:12you don't get it do you my life is over
19:15I'm obsessed with the show it's
19:17absolutely my favorite show I've seen
19:18every single episode of every season
19:20acting is one of those things that I've
19:23always loved you know I started out in
19:24children's theater I've always chosen
19:26things very carefully and I'm going to
19:28continue to do that that why so
19:30glum The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow
19:35getting to host SNL was such a thrill
19:37Hey Joe I'm doing real well tonight
19:43I'm in my monologue Taylor came up with
19:46the whole concept for her tongue and
19:48cheek monologue song yes Joe as in Jonas
19:52and we love seeing Tay Flex her comedic
19:54chops while doing impressions of Kate
19:56Goslin I'm doing lots of press
20:00Shakira and casew in a Twilight parody a
20:03nod to Taylor's vinbo Taylor lner say it
20:07out
20:10loud Frankenstein the two Taylor struck
20:13up a friendship while playing High
20:14School sweethearts in the romcom
20:16Valentine's Day which marked ta's first
20:18time in a feature film oh my gosh I
20:21totally love him and I'm crazy about her
20:23I got to meet so many cool people and
20:25you know hanging out with Gary Marshall
20:27is just such a fun experience he's an
20:29amazing director but things didn't in
20:31there hey do you want to see something
20:34cool getting to do this voiceover role
20:36it was amazing because I could do it
20:38while I was on tour I could like I could
20:40record the voiceovers during the day and
20:41then play a show at night will you take
20:43me away from this madness you going to
20:45get the hang of
20:47this Ginger did it take a lot of
20:50persuading to have you appear in a cats
20:53movie no no no it was very easy all they
20:56had to do was ask the f lover went to
20:59cat school and wrote an original song
21:01for the film that earned her a Golden
21:03Globe nod one of four over her career
21:06and of course Taylor's been serving up
21:07dramatic visuals in her music videos for
21:10decades even transforming into a zombie
21:12and the man which took 5
21:16hours everybody's like cute wiggling hey
21:20you know what I mean Taylor won a VMA
21:22for directing the video her first of
21:24three in the category something no solo
21:26artist has ever done and that's not all
21:30I
21:32all she broke records with all too well
21:35the short film it has almost 100 million
21:38views and it won a Grammy making her the
21:41first artist with a directing credit to
21:43win best music video yes
21:47yes directing I I felt as fulfilled by
21:50it as I did when I craft a song and
21:53think about every aspect of it and it
21:54comes together and then it goes out in
21:56the world there are so many moving
21:57pieces up next Tay will be making her
21:59feature film directorial debut she wrote
22:02an original script that was picked up by
22:04Search light Pictures did I read that
22:06you're one of the top 10 most powerful
22:08girls in Hollywood they're saying that I
22:10don't even live in Hollywood how cool is
22:12that no doubt Taylor will have plenty of
22:14A-list friends to collaborate with
22:15because let's be honest her real
22:17superpower being a ride or die bestie
22:20one of my best friends is Emma Stone so
22:22if I could ever act in anything with
22:24Emma that would be a dream come true
22:26reped rumors
22:29she is a very very good friend of mine
22:30we're both the same age we both write
22:32songs uh from our heart and uh yeah it's
22:34pleasure knowing her she's one of those
22:36women who I could basically base my
22:37character on it's just Relentless
22:39endless fire what are the
22:41characteristics of a great friend oh I
22:43think sincerity like they truly um mean
22:46what they say and they're honest I'm her
22:49dat we just walked the carpet together
22:51she's amazing she's been she's been in
22:53my life for so long we're kind of like
22:55sisters at this point there's Selena
22:57Gomez G Hadid Taylor let Sophie Turner
23:00use her New York apartment during her
23:02divorce from Joe Jonas there's sort of
23:04like a unspoken code that we're there
23:07for each other and we would never turn
23:10on each other we're not going to gossip
23:12about each other it's like kind of like
23:13this Alliance that that is the best kind
23:16of friendship you can have a friend perk
23:18Lake Lively and Ryan Reynolds kids are
23:20name checked in Taylor's songs her
23:22writing is so beautiful and it's so
23:24personal and you can feel that you can
23:26feel that in the way that she sings you
23:27can feel that in her lyrics were waiting
23:28for Taylor Swift to name your fourth
23:29child so we got to know what are you
23:31calling your fourth child in the
23:32meantime oh all the letters are silent
23:34you know it just s sort of sounds like a
23:36four light
23:40Breeze all right what advice would you
23:42give to anyone who wants to become a
23:43singer um get a good lawyer yeah Taylor
23:46knows all too well about that back in
23:482016 she answered Vogue 73 questions
23:51while giving a tour of her La home but
23:54she's dropped many Swift isms to ET over
23:56the years too and we leave you now with
23:58more Taylor in her own words have a safe
24:01Fourth of July everybody
24:04bye-bye the best advice I've ever gotten
24:07was to be kind to people also to take a
24:11lot of
24:12pictures the worst advice I've ever
24:15gotten live it up you're young that's a
24:18horrible advice I mean come on I can't
24:21live it up if I live it up it's on
24:23National

24:27things have gone because I love getting
24:30to do this and I I live to write songs
24:32that's what I live for
