0:00The three gold-medalist national
0:01athletes apologized , but are getting
0:02roasted even more because of their
0:03apology letters . Right after beating
0:05Japan in the final to win gold , team
0:06captain Lee Ki-eok shouted this :
0:08>> It's heavy .
0:09>> I’m not going to the army .
0:10>> The youngest , Park Seung-soo , wore a "
0:12Discharge " cap and even posted a locker
0:13room selfie , while Yang Min-hyuk
0:15claimed that neither medals nor
0:16trophies mattered , and that he only
0:17played for the military exemption . As
0:19backlash poured in , all three bowed
0:20their heads within a day , but the
0:22apologies were even more ridiculous .
0:24First , Yang Min-hyuk wrote that his
0:25comments were misinterpreted and that
0:27military benefits were just one of many
0:28motivations , turning the " sole focus "
0:30exemption into just one of many in his
0:31apology letter . On top of that , he
0:33added an exclamation mark at the end of
0:34his apology saying he'd repay the fans ,
0:36but after getting heat , he just quietly
0:37deleted the exclamation mark . Park
0:38Seung-soo explained that the " Discharge
0:40" cap was a gift from a fan , and
0:42captain Lee Ki-eok apologized at the
0:43airport like this :
0:44>> I wasn't really focusing on things like
0:47military service to win the gold medal .
0:49>> But in his interview right after the
0:50final , he said this :
0:51>> If we don't win gold , we have to go
0:53back to Korea , and I have 9 days left
0:55until enlistment .
0:56>> He even wrote in his apology letter
0:57that it was due to a moment of
0:59happiness and dopamine . That led to
1:00comments like this : Seriously , don't
1:02post an apology letter — post your
1:03enlistment notice . M.
