1:23want a more peaceful end to my life . " I
1:28wanted a small farm , a property , a
1:30little place by a lake or a river , so I
1:33could spend my final days , because I
1:35was feeling like a doll , you know those
1:37that sit there with their little hands
1:40like this ? And I didn't want to be that
1:44doll . So I prayed to God a lot for that
1:47, and God gave it to me . So I am
1:52thanking Him for this latest victory .
1:56And I started building some things
1:59there , improving some things . Well , in
2:04early December of last year , I had been
2:12feeling , I had been complaining to my
2:14wife that every now and then I had a
2:16dizzy spell at the farm . Since
2:19September , if memory serves me right , I
2:22fell there about two or three times . I
2:25would lean down to do something , to
2:27plant . And there was a day I fell
2:30face-first onto the ground , but I
2:33didn't know I was losing blood . I
2:38didn't know I had cancer . Well , I
2:45discovered this cancer in December . It
2:49was my youngest son's birthday , who
2:51isn't here today . And he said : " Dad ,
2:55I'm going to have a little barbecue at
2:56the farm . Is that okay ? " I said : " Yes ,
2:58I'll help you , we'll go there . " I went
3:01ahead of time , but the day arrived on
3:06December 5th , in the morning I woke up ,
3:11went to the bathroom , and didn't feel
3:13well . And when I had a bowel movement ,
3:18I felt like I was passing blood , a lot
3:19of blood . So I called my wife and
3:23showed her , and that was a cause for
3:28concern . I said : " Don't say anything ,
3:31don't spoil my son's birthday , don't
3:33say anything . " He arrived , we had a
3:38barbecue , he grilled , I participated ,
3:40but he noticed and said : " Mom , Dad is a
3:43bit quiet today , seems a bit grumpy ,
3:45kind of sad , what's wrong ? " I said : " No
3:48, it's nothing , that's just how he is . "
3:51When he left at night , she said : " Look ,
3:54your father found out he's bleeding , a
3:57lot of blood . He's worried . " " No , Mom ,

4:02him to the doctor . " Then my daughter

4:07wife thought it was a heart problem ,

4:16cardiologist . My heart , thank God , was
4:20fine . And he referred me to another
4:26doctor , a proctologist . And this
4:32proctologist ordered a series of tests ,
4:35but in order for me to take those tests

4:43tend to forget . To take those tests , I
4:47had to be admitted , because I've had
4:50heart surgery , my chest was opened ,
4:52right ? I had a bypass . So I couldn't
4:58take any risks , and surgical clearance
5:00would only be granted if I did it in a
5:02hospital , you understand ? The test is
5:06called colonoscopy . The doctor said
5:14that when they sedated me , my heart
5:16rate would drop significantly . I would
5:18be at risk on a table in a non-hospital
5:24setting , right ? And that's how it was
5:27done . But I couldn't get admitted . I
5:31only managed to get admitted on January
5:359th . My daughter-in-law and my daughter
5:38pushed for it and managed to get me
5:40admitted at Teresinha de Jesus
5:42Maternity Hospital . I stayed there for
5:4619 days , brothers . And I had the
5:50colonoscopy there , they asked for a CT
5:57scan , various tests were performed . And
6:03the day arrived for me to have the
6:05colonoscopy . It was done and the
6:08colonoscopy confirmed I had an abscess ,
6:11a lump in my rectum ; it was cancer . A
6:16biopsy was performed and they scheduled
6:20the biopsy day . I was discharged . When
6:23the biopsy results came in , the
6:24confirmation arrived . One day before my
6:27discharge , the doctor came in and said :
6:28" Look , you're being discharged tomorrow
6:30. Everything went well with your tests .
6:33" But there’s a little test here that
6:35didn't go well . She looked at my wife ,
6:39looked at me , and I said , " You can say
6:41it , I have cancer . " She was startled ,
6:44like , damn , he’s direct . I said , " No ,
6:48don't hide anything from me . " She said ,
6:50" It's cancer . " I asked , " Is it
6:52malignant ? Is it , is it an aggressive
6:55grade ? " I said , " Whatever God wills . "
7:00And I’ll tell you brothers , I wasn't
7:03afraid . Not at that moment . I was sad
7:07because I didn't know what was waiting
7:10for me . You lose , you lose , shall we
7:14say , the ground disappears beneath you ,
7:17but I wasn't afraid of dying , you know ?
7:22I said , whatever God wills . Well , I
7:25left the hospital , my daughter managed
7:27to get a doctor there at the maternity
7:30clinic , at Ascocias , highly respected ,
7:32and a doctor who was also highly
7:35respected , right ? Dr. Leonardo , who was
7:40an oncology surgeon , and Dr. Cristiane ,
7:43who was a chemo and radiotherapy
7:45specialist in oncology . So they
7:49examined me , ordered more tests , and
7:51thought it best to do a session of
7:53chemo along with radiation . I had 30
7:57sessions of chemotherapy with
7:59radiotherapy . I felt really sick from
8:03the reactions it causes . I felt really ,
8:06really bad , you know ? And after that
8:09treatment , they ordered another 12
8:12sessions of intravenous chemotherapy . I
8:15didn't have any veins left because
8:17chemo makes your veins disappear . So
8:20they did it , they put a catheter in me .
8:23I have it to this day . It’s for 5
8:26years . So , what do I want to tell you
8:30brothers ? When that treatment ended ,
8:38the doctor said to me , " Geraldo , how
8:40are you feeling ? " I said , " Nothing more
8:42, look , I believe your test is going to
8:47come back good . " You know ? Maybe it
8:51managed to fight it , maybe it decreased
8:53, this will have a good result . I said ,
8:56God willing . But look , every time I
9:02went to do chemotherapy , when I sat in
9:05the chair in the chemo room , I
9:07surrendered it to Jesus . I said , " Jesus
9:13, you are my doctor , heal me . " " If it is
9:16your will , perhaps I am not worthy . " "
9:20But I am not asking for myself . " " I see
9:25that here in this hospital there are
9:27many people worse off than me . " " And I
9:30would like , as the evangelist that I am
9:33, to be able to come back here . " " I have
9:35been here many times speaking to people
9:38who , most of the time , I didn't even
9:40know . " " And I brought , I spoke of Jesus
9:43to them and some departed for glory
9:46saved . " " And I would like to return to

9:53now that the Lord will heal me ; I
9:55passed through here , I didn't see
9:57myself here , but I was part of this
9:59house . Well then , some time passed ,
10:07chemotherapy ended , the doctor
10:09requested another session of tests ,
10:12another colonoscopy , another biopsy ,
10:16another series of exams . I couldn't do
10:21them here again , it had to be at
10:25hospitals . I had to pay privately at
10:29Santa Casa and it was done there ; I
10:34spent hours there , I think I was there
10:36for 5 hours and it was done . And the
10:39biopsy result came out a week later .
10:43Well then , I went to the doctor , she
10:45referred me to the surgeon to see if I
10:51was going to be operated on for the
10:52cancer or not . But I want to tell you ,
10:58not just during chemo , but in
11:01radiotherapy , when I laid on the gurney
11:03, they marked X's near my groin , one on
11:06the left hip , another on the right , to
11:09center the radiation beams . And I would
11:14say : " Burn , Jesus , keep burning , this
11:16doesn't depend on me , this doesn't come
11:18from me , this wasn't born with me , I
11:20don't accept this in my body . " " So burn ,
11:23keep burning , " because I learned that
11:29God says : " Call to me and I will answer
11:32you . " And I called out the whole time .
11:37The pastor came to visit me several
11:42times , brought me Holy Communion , and I
11:45even spoke to him . I said : " Pastor ,
11:49pray for me because I'm spiritually
11:52very weak . " I don't have the strength
11:57to pray for myself . When I lie down , I
12:02keep asking Jesus , asking God , asking
12:04Jesus , calling out to him , but I'm not
12:07praying right , I can't , because
12:09insecurity hits , sometimes fear hits ,
12:11right ? That comes with time , because
12:16you feel many chemical reactions and
12:17you say : " My God ! " But I spoke to God
12:21in a way , folks , that you're going to
12:23laugh . I said : " Jesus , I am an
12:26evangelist . " " I preach your name to the
12:29four corners of the city . " I'm not
12:31ashamed of that . I've been to several
12:34hospitals , I want to go back again , I
12:39do it on the street , I do it wherever
12:41necessary and I say that you are the
12:43doctor of doctors . So , be my doctor ,
12:46heal me . I don't believe that the Lord
12:49gave me that farm , fulfilled that dream
12:51halfway . I don't believe in that , you
12:55know ? The Lord doesn't do anything
12:56halfway . You won't leave me without
12:58enjoying what You gave me . Won't you
13:02let me tell others that I was healed to
13:05glorify your name . So that is what I
13:08ask of you . And I kept on crying out .
13:14When I got to the doctor , to the
13:16surgeon , he took my exams , here they

13:24all . He took my exams , looked at me ,
