2:06abuse domestic abuse child abuse

2:09homophobia necrophilia molestation

2:12sexual assault rape and sex crimes

2:15against children I know it's a very very

2:18big list like I said if you need to

2:20click out for your own well-being that's

2:22absolutely fine hopefully I'll see you

2:24again at some other point all that being

2:26said let's get straight into the case

2:28John way gy was born on March 17th 1942

2:32in Chicago Illinois he was the second of

2:35three children to John gy Senior and

2:37Maran Robinson Marian was a stay-at-home

2:40mother and so John Wayne gasy was mainly

2:42parented by his mother throughout his

2:45childhood because his father was just

2:46always off working but that was probably

2:49for the best because gas's father was a

2:52horrible man he was a very severe

2:55alcoholic after serving in World War I

2:57he was left with a lot of trauma after

2:59the the world war and so he turned to

3:01alcohol after that and alcohol made him

3:04not a very nice man at all he was cold

3:07he was mean he was verbally and

3:10physically abusive to all members of his

3:12family his wife and all of his kids but

3:15actually the main focus of his abuse was

3:17his second child John Wayne gasey I

3:20think the main reason for this is

3:22because he was the only man in the house

3:25he wasn't a man he was a child but um he

3:28would always defend his mother and his

3:30sisters from his father's abuse and so

3:33his father saw John Wayne gasi as kind

3:36of his only opposition because the girls

3:39never put up a fight one of gas's

3:41earliest memories of his father was his

3:44father was a mechanic and so this one

3:46time they were out in the garage his

3:48father was showing him this engine that

3:50he was working on or something and gy

3:52being a child being very curious he

3:54started like messing about with some of

3:56the parts and his father hit the roof he

3:59was Furious he grabbed a leather belt

4:02and started beating gasy with it and

4:05then at one point his mother jumped in

4:07to try and save her son but then his

4:10father only ended up abusing her as well

4:12and this was quite a common occurrence

4:14gas's father would just lash out at

4:17anyone that tried to go against him

4:19anyone that ever stood up to him would

4:21feel his wrath which is actually why a

4:24lot of the time John Wayne gasy would

4:26just sit and let the abuse happen

4:28because well to be hon honest he knew

4:30that if he didn't let it happen to him

4:32if he wasn't on the receiving end then

4:35his mother or his sisters would so

4:37effectively gasy was a voluntary punch

4:40bag for his father to save his mother

4:43and his sisters all the way through his

4:45childhood he did that and even aside

4:48from these traumatic beatings gas's

4:50father would make his son's life hell in

4:53different ways as well he would be

4:55verbally abusive manipulative he would

4:58make his life a misery d in day out he

5:01would let his son know that he was

5:03disappointed in him he would always call

5:05him dumb stupid ailure he would also be

5:08very homophobic towards his son despite

5:11gasy never explicitly talking about his

5:13sexuality with his father but he would

5:16still tell his son that he would

5:18probably grow up queer and he would

5:19always call him like awful names

5:21relating to that he was convinced that

5:23his son was gay and he had a huge

5:25problem with it and things only worsened

5:28for gy when he was seven years years old

5:30that's how young he had been this whole

5:32time his father hated this

5:34seven-year-old boy but yeah things only

5:36got worse for him when he was about 7

5:38years old and his father introduced him

5:40to one of his friends and this friend

5:43this grown man proceeded to sexually

5:47abuse John Wayne and gasy for the next

5:50few months and gasy never said a word to

5:54anyone about this abuse as it was

5:56happening because he he just knew that

5:59he would somehow be punished for it he

6:01knew what his father was like he knew

6:03that his father wouldn't take his side

6:05and so he was scared into silence he

6:08never told anyone about it until he was

6:09an adult but later that year so Gaye was

6:12still only about seven or eight years

6:13old at this point he actually went on to

6:16sexually abuse someone himself he and

6:19one of his friends actually cornered

6:21this girl at school and molested her his

6:24father ended up finding out about this

6:26and as I'm sure you can imagine he was

6:28Furious so once again he grabbed that

6:31leather belt and beat gayy black and

6:33blue with it for like the H hundredth

6:36time but by now he' kind of stopped

6:39reacting to it gasy would just sit there

6:41and let the beatings happen he didn't

6:43scream or cry or make a fuss anymore and

6:47this kind of took the fun out of it for

6:50his father which is such an awful thing

6:52to think about that his father was

6:54getting a kick out of abusing his son

6:56and seeing the fear in his own son's

6:59eyes he just wasn't getting the same

7:02thrill anymore and so gas's father upped

7:05the anti he started beating him harder

7:08and with new weapons until one day when

7:11gasy was only about 11 years old and his

7:14father knocked him out clean unconscious

7:17and this incident actually left gasy

7:20with longlasting health issues I think

7:22it must have damaged his brain in some

7:24sort of way because after this he

7:27started having fainting spells he would

7:30just be going about his day and he would

7:31just F just knocked out on the floor he

7:34would have these blackouts so frequently

7:36and he actually had to be hospitalized

7:38for them a few times but that was only

7:40one of many physical ailments that John

7:43Wayne gasey had throughout his life he

7:45was quite an ill person he always had

7:48something wrong with him he had a burst

7:50appendix at one point he had quite a

7:52serious heart condition that he was in

7:54and out of hospital for most of his

7:56childhood and his dad being the auor man

7:59that he was he never believed his son

8:02with any of these like physical

8:04illnesses burst appendix he thought he

8:06was lying he thought his son was lying

8:08about it these fainting spells that he

8:10would have all the time he thought that

8:11they were just fake and for attention or

8:13for sympathy but despite all his

8:16ailments and his horrific home life John

8:19Wayne gasy was able to lead a

8:21semi-normal life like a childhood

8:24adolescence and when he turned 18 years

8:26old he decided that he was going to get

8:28a career in politics and I think the

8:31main reason he chose politics was for

8:33his dad's sake he wanted to impress his

8:36father he wanted a well-respected job so

8:39that he could finally earn his father's

8:42respect but it actually ended up going

8:44the opposite way gy specifically wanted

8:46to work with the Democratic party which

8:49was not the party that his father

8:51supported and this only gave him more

8:54fuel to ridicule his son for but at this

8:57point in his life gasy is pretty pretty

8:59much all grown up he's like 18 19 years

9:01old he is a fully grown man and he is

9:03quite a a big guy not necessarily

9:06height-wise but he was quite overweight

9:08he had just generally quite a lot of

9:09body mass due to his heart condition he

9:12couldn't exercise very well and so for

9:14pretty much all of his life gay he was

9:16quite overweight and he was bigger than

9:18his father he had strength and body mass

9:21on his side something that his father

9:24was a little bit scared of now and so by

9:27now his dad had kind of stopped

9:29physically abusing him I think he was

9:31scared that one day Gaye was just going

9:33to turn around and fight back and and

9:35knock his dad out so now instead of the

9:37physical abuse gas's father was thinking

9:39of new different more creative ways to

9:44make his son's life hell so he bought

9:46him a car right which sounds like a good

9:50thing doesn't it Dad buying the son a

9:51car that's that's usually a good thing

9:54no he bought this car for gasy with the

9:58intention of holding it against him

10:00because he knew that his son couldn't

10:02afford a car himself but he kind of

10:03needed one to be able to get like to and

10:06from work so his dad bought him this car

10:08and he said right you can have it now

10:11and you can pay me back monthly for the

10:13next few years until you pay off the car

10:15but if gasy was ever short or late on

10:18these monthly payments his dad would

10:21withhold the use of the car he would

10:24take the keys off his son so that he

10:27couldn't get to and from work which

10:28meant that case he couldn't get to work

10:31anymore in this car which then had like

10:33serious implications on his life he was

10:35either late or he would miss days at

10:37work he would get into trouble with his

10:39boss he risked losing his job because

10:42his dad kept taking the car away from

10:44him after about a year of this like

10:47having the car taken away from him time

10:48and time again gasy was sick of it and

10:50so he went out and bought a spare set of

10:54keys for the car so that next time his

10:56Dad tried to take him off him he could

10:58still just get in the car and drive away

11:00and his father was fuming about this and

11:03he wasn't going to let his son get away

11:04with this and so his father went to the

11:07car and like took one of the parts out I

11:10don't know which part but it was a part

11:12that you need to be able to drive it

11:13because when gasy went and got back in

11:15the car it wouldn't go it wouldn't set

11:18off and this was John Wayne gase's

11:21breaking point he was now about 20 years

11:24old and his life his home life had just

11:27been constant stress and animosity and

11:30abuse and torture all his life and he

11:33was sick of it now so one day gase woke

11:36up and decided that he was just going to

11:37run away he was going to run far away

11:39from home and he went all the way to Las

11:41Vegas Nevada and here he was finally

11:45free he got himself a job as an

11:47ambulance driver which proved a little

11:49bit too stressful for him he didn't

11:51really like it and so he has to be

11:53transferred to the morog instead so now

11:58this future serial killer is working

12:00with dead bodies but G's employers were

12:04not aware at the time that gasey was

12:06actually homeless when he ran away to

12:08Las Vegas he hadn't found anywhere to

12:11stay he was just like sleeping on the

12:12street and now that he'd been

12:14transferred to the Mory he decided that

12:17he was going to try and live there live

12:20amongst the dead bodies in the morg so

12:22he bought himself a secondhand cot bed

12:26and set it up behind the embalming room

12:29and he lived there for months without

12:31anyone knowing but that aside weirdly

12:34enough everything was going quite well

12:36for John Wayne gasy at this point

12:38because well for the first time in his

12:40life he was away from his abusive father

12:43he was making friends he was getting to

12:45know people he was free he had his own

12:47life things were great but then he did

12:51something that ruined all of that one

12:54night he was about to go to sleep as

12:57usual behind the embalming room in his

12:59secondhand coted when he decided to go

13:02over to one of the fridges you know

13:04where they keep the dead bodies because

13:06he remember that there was the body of a

13:08teenage boy in one of them so he pulled

13:11the table out and climbed up on top of

13:14it alongside this teenage boy's corpse

13:18and just started cuddling him he was

13:20there for a couple of minutes just

13:22holding this boy's dead body until he

13:26started freaking out all of a sudden it

13:28was like at first he was enjoying it and

13:31then I think he realized what he was

13:33doing and panic started to set in it

13:36honestly sounds like he had a panic

13:38attack he jumped off this table put the

13:40body back and went to bed and tried to

13:43just forget what he'd just done but the

13:45next morning when gasy woke up he was

13:47still super super anxious about what

13:50he'd done the night before he called his

13:52mother up in an absolute state of panic

13:55begging her to let him come home so the

13:57very next day John Wayne gy was back in

14:00Chicago living with his parents he was

14:03back to square one and he decided that

14:05after this incident he was going to

14:07change his life he enrolled in a

14:10business University and he really got to

14:12work he did really really well and by

14:14the age of 21 he graduated with his

14:16diploma from there he got a job in a

14:18shoe shop as a Salesman and he was

14:20really really good at this job cuz gayy

14:22was quite good at persuading people and

14:25so he just kept getting promoted and

14:27promoted and promoted and for one of

14:28these promotions he was actually

14:30transferred to a different star in

14:32Springfield Illinois and it was there

14:35that he met a beautiful young woman

14:37named Marilyn Meyers that he started

14:40courting so let's just pause here for a

14:42sec and look at John Wayne gas's life

14:45he's really seemed to have turned things

14:48around he's gone to University got his

14:49diploma got a really good job that he

14:51just keeps getting promoted in he's got

14:53this girl that he likes he's living a

14:56normal life now he also got involved

14:58with a lot of Community stuff as well he

15:00joined an organization called the ja's

15:03which do a lot of like voluntary

15:05Community work it was a very respected

15:08thing because it was all voluntary like

15:09they didn't get paid for it they were

15:11just doing it for the good of the

15:13community and gase managed to work his

15:15way to the top of that too he was very

15:18well respected in the jcon so he just

15:20kept earning higher and higher titles

15:22and he managed to work his way all the

15:24way up to vice president everyone loved

15:26him there he was doing really really

15:28well until he did something to ruin it

15:31again so right now he's still dating

15:33Marlin Meers that he met at work but one

15:36night after one of his JC meetings he

15:40actually cheated on her with one of the

15:42J's and this was kind of a long time

15:45coming uh gasy had always wanted to

15:48explore his sexuality his potential

15:51bisexuality he'd always known that he

15:54was attracted to men but he'd been too

15:56scared to try anything initiate anything

15:59until this one particular night when he

16:01was very very drunk and he made a move

16:04on one of his JC friends and they

16:07reciprocated in fact I actually think it

16:09was the other way around I think it was

16:10the other man that offered to you know

16:13to gayy and he accepted I think that's

16:15the only way that this happened was that

16:17he didn't initiate it and I don't know

16:19if Marlin actually ever found out about

16:21this I don't know if she knew that gasy

16:23cheated on her at all but this really

16:26threw gas's head through the ringer a

16:28bit he he was so confused now because

16:30he'd only ever been with women all his

16:32life and he liked Maran he did he had

16:35feelings for her but he was really

16:38excited about about this guy and the the

16:41potential to get with other guys as well

16:44he realized that that was what he wanted

16:47to to be getting with men not to be with

16:50Marlin he felt like he was kind of stuck

16:53with her now but he didn't want to leave

16:55Marlin uh not necessarily because he was

16:58in love with her more so because she

17:00came from a very rich family a very very

17:03rich family her dad was minted her dad

17:05actually ended up buying three KFC

17:08restaurant franchises that he was going

17:10to hand down to his daughter one day his

17:13daughter and whoever his daughter ended

17:14up marrying and so gase was like that's

17:18that's going to have to be me there was

17:19a lot of money in owning three

17:22restaurants and so John wayney decided

17:25to propose to Marlin Meers and within

17:28six months they were married and living

17:30in Iowa I think that's where the three

17:33KFC restaurants were based I think

17:35that's where Marlin was originally from

17:37so they moved to Iowa and her father

17:40handed down the three KFC restaurants to

17:42his daughter and her new husband so now

17:45John Wayne gey was made manager of all

17:49three of these KFC restaurants which

17:51meant he was Wrecking in a lot of money

17:54he was making in a year the equivalent

17:56of like 135,000

17:59a year today which you would think would

18:02be making him really happy he'd be

18:04really excited but no he just could not

18:07get that sexual experience with that man

18:10out of his head he knew that he was

18:12living a lie here with Marlin you know

18:14this life with all the restaurants it's

18:16not what he wanted he wanted to be

18:20exploring his sexuality and this is

18:23where things start to get weird so at

18:26one of these particular KFC restaurants

18:28there was a basement that gayy nicknamed

18:31the club and every now and again he

18:34would have employees down in the

18:36basement for drinks after work but when

18:39I say employees he would actually only

18:42invite a very small percentage of the

18:45workforce and that small percentage just

18:47so happened to be teenage boys or young

18:50men early 20s he didn't care to have the

18:53women over for drinks or like the older

18:55people it was just the young men and the

18:58boys gy would provide these young boys

19:01and men with alcohol underage and they'd

19:05never really experienced this before

19:07they've never really tried alcohol

19:08before and so they would get really

19:10really drunk because they didn't know

19:12their limits and after a few months of

19:14drinking in the club gasy started making

19:18sexual advances on these boys once he'd

19:21got them drunk sometimes the boys would

19:24go along with it and it would be

19:25reciprocated but other times the boys

19:28would be like like whoa what are you

19:29doing I don't I don't want to do that

19:31and then gasy always had an answer he

19:33would play it off as if it had been a

19:36test he'd be like good I was testing you

19:39I wanted to judge your morals you passed

19:42the test and then he would just like

19:43laugh it off despite regularly cheating

19:46on his wife with his employees John

19:48Wayne gy and Marlin went on to have two

19:51children together a son and a daughter

19:53named Michael and Christine and gasey

19:55always looked back on this time in his

19:58life very very fondly he said that these

20:00were the best years of his life when he

20:02was managing these restaurants he had a

20:05wife at home he had two beautiful

20:07children and even his relationship with

20:10his father was going well his dad had

20:12had a whole change of heart towards gasc

20:15ever since he became successful managing

20:18three restaurants he had a wife he had

20:20two kids he married into money his dad

20:24liked him now he respected him now it

20:26was a very conditional love

20:29and love is a very big word to use but

20:31gasy was absolutely over the moon that

20:33he had finally earned this love and

20:37respect from his father something that

20:38he had never been able to do no matter

20:41how hard he tried all his life his dad

20:43actually apologized to gasy for the way

20:46that he treated him all his life and his

20:48exact words were I was wrong about you

20:51and this just meant the world to gy he

20:54had yearned for this all his life and he

20:57finally had it so yeah things were going

20:59amazingly well for gasy at this point in

21:02his life nothing was actually going

21:04wrong at all for once he was still

21:06working with the ja's he'd like

21:08transferred to the Iowa J's now that

21:10he'd moved there and they loved him

21:12because he was the manager of three KFC

21:15restaurants he would always provide free

21:17KFC at their meetings he'd give them all

21:19free chicken free alcohol they would

21:22meet up in the basement Club he actually

21:24insisted that they all call him the

21:26colonel which is a bit weird but yeah

21:28things were going a bit too well for a

21:30bit too long and as always with John

21:32Wayne gasy he has to do something to

21:36[ __ ] it up so one thing about the Iowa

21:38Jes they threw wild parties like wild

21:42wild parties there were drugs drink porn

21:46sex workers prostitutes literally

21:49anything everything these parties were

21:51freaking crazy apparently you name it

21:54they were doing it and more often than

21:56not they were hosted in gases basement

21:59Club so after a few of these crazy crazy

22:02parties and after gaining all of the J's

22:05trust JY then uh made a really weird

22:08suggestion he told all the men that they

22:11should bring along their young Sons to

22:13the next party but they're like 14 15 16

22:16year old sons and for some reason they

22:18all agreed they all thought that would

22:20be a good idea but you can see where

22:21this is going right you can see G's

22:24intentions here he is attracted to young

22:27boys and young men that's obviously the

22:30reason that he wanted them to bring

22:31along their sons gy wanted to take

22:34advantage of these children sexually and

22:36he had a plan on how he was going to do

22:38it in fact he' concocted this whole like

22:41fake story that he would tell these kids

22:45in order to gain their trust and be able

22:48to abuse them so he would tell these

22:50young boys that he was conducting

22:53scientific research into

22:55homosexuality and he was you know doing

22:58real tests on real people and he needed

23:01participants he needed young boys to

23:04take part in sex acts for scientific

23:08research purposes and he would pay the

23:11boys for this he would pay them like

23:13$500 to have sex with him basically and

23:16for these young teenage boys $500 is a

23:19bluming lot of money a lot of money that

23:21a lot of them didn't want to refuse and

23:24so this tactic worked more often than

23:27not these boys would take the money to

23:29have sex with John Wayne gasey but gasy

23:32didn't start using this tactic straight

23:34away this was a tactic that he had like

23:36built over time so let's talk about his

23:39first ever victim this first victim was

23:42a 15-year-old boy named Donald Vorhees

23:44he was one of the ja's young sons and

23:48actually this first victim gayy didn't

23:50lure back to the KFC basement he led him

23:54back to his home where he lived with his

23:56wife and two kids Casey took Donald home

24:00got him really really drunk and showed

24:02him porn for the first time ever in his

24:05life so they were watching straight Pawn

24:08on the TV and gayy turned to Donald and

24:11he said you know in order to have sex

24:13with a woman you need to have had sex

24:16with a man first you know that right you

24:18know that rule and Donald was like what

24:20no I I never knew about that I never

24:21knew about this rule obviously not cuz

24:23it's not real but of course Donald being

24:2715 years old and drunk he believed this

24:30older man because why wouldn't he he had

24:33no reason not to trust his father's

24:36friend and so Donald VES agreed to have

24:39sex with John Wayne gy that night and

24:42this actually happened a few more times

24:45over the next few months I believe and

24:46eventually after six months of suffering

24:50in silence Donald VES told his father

24:54what John Wayne gy had been doing to him

24:56and understandably so his father was

24:58seething he immediately reported gasy to

25:01the police police went round to his

25:03address and arrested him on suspicion of

25:06sexual offenses against a minor but gasy

25:08was incredibly defensive he maintained

25:12his innocence so much so that he

25:14actually demanded they give him a lie

25:15detector test because he was so sure

25:18that he would pass it which remember

25:19this was like the 1960s and polygraph

25:22test were they were really believed back

25:24then they were quite a new thing and so

25:26everyone was really excited about them

25:27everyone believed believe them these

25:29days not so much No One Believes

25:31polygraph tests but back then this would

25:33have been seen as a big bold move from

25:36John Wayne gy because like I said

25:39everyone believed them so police gave

25:40him the polygraph test and he didn't

25:44exactly fail but he also didn't pass it

25:47was inconclusive they couldn't get a

25:49result this essentially told police that

25:52gasy was nervous he was too anxious for

25:55them to even be able to get a reading on

25:58him so they questioned him again and

26:00they said well why would Donald's father

26:02lie about this what does he have to gain

26:05from this and gy said that he thought

26:08that Donald's father was after his

26:10position as vice president of the JY he

26:13was jealous he wanted to take him down

26:16as the competition and so starting these

26:19rumors these allegations very serious

26:21allegations could get gayy taken out of

26:24the ja's so then Donald's father could

26:26take his spot and this conspiracy theory

26:29was actually backed up by a lot of the

26:32other ja's they all started defending

26:34John Wayne gasy and denouncing Donald's

26:38father the J's didn't believe that gasy

26:40could be capable of such heinous things

26:43they thought he was a great guy because

26:45all they'd ever seen was a great guy

26:48they all agreed that Donald's father

26:49must just be jealous and he must have

26:51just been trying to take him down and so

26:53they all fell out with him and backed

26:56John Wayne gasi so it seemed that all in

26:58all gasy was going to be fine after this

27:01he had pretty much everyone on his side

27:03no one believed the allegations but that

27:06wasn't enough for him he wanted Revenge

27:09specifically on 15-year-old Donald V's

27:13for telling gase was eventually released

27:15from police custody when they decided

27:17that he was innocent and so he went back

27:19to work at the KFC restaurant and he

27:22pulled aside one of his young employees

27:24a 16-year-old boy named Russell schroer

27:27Russell was quite a muscular boy and so

27:30gasey gave him this proposition he

27:33offered him

27:35$2,500 a lot of money for a 16-year-old

27:38he would PVE Russell that if he would

27:40track down Donald VES beat him up and

27:44tell him to retract his statement and

27:46Russell was up for it he could not turn

27:48down that kind of money so the next day

27:50Russell lured Donald VES into a secluded

27:53area in the park sprayed him in the eyes

27:56with pepper spray and demanded that he

27:58retracted the accusations against gayy

28:01but Donald said no he he wasn't going to

28:04do that so Russell knew what he had to

28:06do and he beat up Donald VES he left him

28:10laying on the floor in such a state he

28:13had blood all over him he couldn't get

28:15up for a while but little did Russell

28:17know Donald VES knew who he was and he'd

28:21seen him before he pepper sprayed him in

28:23the eyes and So eventually When Donald

28:26could get up and go to the police police

28:28station to report this he gave over

28:30Russell's name cuz he knew who would

28:32attacked him the very next day Russell

28:34was arrested he was taken for

28:36questioning and he denied everything he

28:38was like nah n n I've never seen Donald

28:40VES in my life I never did that but as

28:42the questionings continued he knew that

28:45he couldn't get away with it and So

28:46eventually he told the truth that John

28:48Wayne gasey had paid him to do that so

28:51now things look a million times worse

28:54for gasy because now not only is he

28:56charged with the sexual offenses

28:58but he looks guilty as hell because he's

29:01trying to get people to retract his

29:03statement by beating them as well so

29:05yeah he's still charged with the sexual

29:07offenses and now he's also charged with

29:10trying to intimidate a witness and yeah

29:12he just looks a million times more

29:13guilty before he was due to go to trial

29:16for this John Wayne gasey was given like

29:18psychiatric evaluations and observations

29:21and stuff um he actually spent a whole

29:2317 days just being watched by a load of

29:26doctors so that they could observe his

29:28behavior at the end of all of these

29:30tests John Wayne gasy was diagnosed with

29:32antisocial personality disorder however

29:35his doctors said that they really didn't

29:37think medication would help at all they

29:41thought that nothing could be done to

29:43help or change this man no treatment no

29:47medication Under the Sun could fix John

29:50Wayne gasy but he was deemed fit to

29:53stand trial where he actually pled

29:55guilty to sexually assaulting Don VES

29:58but in the exact same breath so he's

30:01just pled guilty but then he went on to

30:03say oh but it was consensual and

30:05actually Donald asked me to do it so why

30:08would you plead guilty if you insist

30:11that it was consensual something's not

30:13quite adding up there gy said that

30:15Donald was the one that initiated the

30:17sexual contact that they had that night

30:20but then in the aftermath Donald

30:22regretted it changed his mind and that

30:24is where these allegations came from but

30:26despite all of his excuses all of his

30:29lies John Wayne casy was found guilty

30:32and he was sentenced to 10 years in

30:34prison for this the very same day that

30:36gasy got that verdict his wife Marlin

30:39filed for divorce and she actually won

30:42custody of both of their children as

30:43well and from that day on he never saw

30:47any of them ever again so gy goes to

30:50prison and just like many other times in

30:52his life he has hit a new L this seems

30:55to happen quite a lot for gasy he hits

30:58rock bottom gets in prison or like has

31:01these allegations something happens

31:03something disastrous happens but he

31:05always manages to build his life back up

31:07again well I suppose as much as you can

31:10build your life back up in prison as far

31:12as prison lives go he had a blooming

31:14good one he was a model prisoner all the

31:17staff all the guards loved him because

31:19he was just very well behaved and this

31:22meant that he got a lot of perks very

31:24early on in his prison stay he was made

31:27head cut cook like within a few months

31:29there was also a JC's organization

31:32within the prison fancy that so surprise

31:35surprise he joined worked his way up the

31:37ranks and very quickly became one of the

31:40most powerful people within the J's the

31:42prison J's and he was a very very

31:45popular man in that prison everyone

31:47loved John Wayne gasy for some reason um

31:50and when he initially joined the J's

31:53they only had like 50 members but

31:56because all the other inmates loved gy

31:58so much he managed to get them all to

32:02join the ja's it went from 50 when he

32:05joined to

32:07650 he made 600 other inmates want to

32:11join his club and gy managed to do a lot

32:15as part of the prison jy's like he made

32:17the most changes in that prison that

32:19anyone ever had he campaigned for better

32:21living conditions increased pay for

32:24inmates and he got everything he ever

32:27asked for

32:28including a mini golf course in the

32:31prison yard so of course everyone loved

32:33him after only about a year into this

32:3610-year sentence gasy applied for parole

32:39which was rejected because he had served

32:42one tenth of his sentence and it didn't

32:44seem like he was that much of a changed

32:47man so this only motivated him to try

32:50even harder and then reapply for parole

32:53and hopefully if they could see how many

32:55improvements he'd made they might let

32:58him out so he did everything he could to

33:00try and impress the parole board he took

33:0316 High School courses so now he had 16

33:07more qualifications he could prove to

33:10them that he would be a very valuable

33:12member of society if they let him out

33:14because 16 more qualifications but in

33:16the middle of all of this hard work gayy

33:19got some awful news his father had

33:23passed away and he was so incredibly

33:26heartbroken over the this I think

33:28because it had taken him so long to earn

33:30his father's love and respect and now

33:33he'd only had it for such a short amount

33:35of time and it was just ripped away from

33:38him just as quick as he'd got it and he

33:40really really struggled with his grief

33:43um he tried to apply for leave to be

33:46able to go to his father's funeral but

33:48that was actually denied and this only

33:49made the grieving process even harder

33:52that he couldn't say goodbye to his

33:54father that he couldn't you know see his

33:56family and and and speak to them but

33:58yeah life goes on gasy just kept working

34:01on those High School qualifications so

34:03that he could eventually apply for

34:05parole again in a year's time actually

34:07it was less than a year I think it was

34:09about another 6 months after his last

34:12application so he'd only done like a

34:13year and a half of his 10year sentence

34:16before he applied again and this time it

34:19was granted John wayney was allowed to

34:22leave prison after serving a year and a

34:24half for raping a child so he was

34:27released from prison and he was put on

34:29probation for a year and one of the

34:32rules of his probation was that his

34:33parole officers oh is it parole

34:35probation I don't know uh basically they

34:38needed to know where he lived at all

34:41times of course they needed to be able

34:42to keep tabs on him one little problem

34:44though John Wayne gas's wife left him

34:48and so he didn't have a house to go back

34:50to so the only option he had was to move

34:54back home and live with his mother in

34:56his old family home now without his

34:58father in it and gy felt as though this

35:01was such a setback he was like back to

35:04square one in his life and another one

35:06of the rules of his probation his parole

35:08I don't know what's the right word to

35:10use I don't know another one of the

35:11rules was that he had a 10pm curfew

35:15which made him feel like a child again

35:17like he was living at home with his

35:20mother with a curfew he had a bedtime he

35:22couldn't go out with his friends I don't

35:24think he had many friends he had to be

35:26home by 10: p.m. and this was like hell

35:29for gasy but I mean it was better than

35:32prison anything was better than prison

35:34and so he got on with it he started

35:36rebuilding his life again from the

35:38ground up of course managing three KFC

35:41stores was a thing of the past ever

35:43since the divorce of course his wife

35:45managed to keep the KFC restaurants and

35:48so John Wayne gasy went out and got

35:49himself a job as a chef because he did

35:52have a lot of culinary experience

35:55working in the KFCs and then of course

35:57being head chef or head cook in the

36:00prison but even though he was out of

36:01prison now John Wayne gasy became very

36:04very depressed in his new life he had

36:07gone from having it all a few years ago

36:10he had the wife the kids the house the

36:12three restaurants the J's the power the

36:16respect the money everything he had a

36:19great life and he lost it all now he

36:23very quickly grew bored with this new

36:25life and with very little to do John

36:28Wayne gasy would soon be back to his

36:31criminal ways N9 months into his

36:34probation in 1971 John Wayne gy was

36:37charged with sexually assaulting another

36:40teenage boy at this point John was about

36:4329 30 years old the teenage boy wasn't

36:46named in any of the articles that we

36:48could find although it did seem as

36:49though he was a runaway in fact very

36:52reminiscent of my last serial killer

36:54case the vampire of Hanover he would

36:56specifically go to the train station to

36:58Target runaways who were desperate for

37:01things like shelter warmth food things

37:04that a runaway is not going to say no to

37:07and it's believed that in this instance

37:09that's exactly what John Wayne gasey

37:10offered this young boy so yeah they

37:13believe that gayy picked up this teenage

37:15runaway from the train station or the

37:17bus station or whatever and took him

37:19back to his home when they got there

37:22gasy tried to rape this boy but he

37:25actually escaped and managed to run away

37:27and and tell the police and this sexual

37:29assault case actually made it all the

37:31way up to the trial process so they were

37:33due to go to court for this but on the

37:36day that it went to trial the victim

37:38didn't show up at the courthouse and so

37:41the case was actually dropped completely

37:43which is very very frustrating and you

37:45can kind of see it from both sides how

37:48are they supposed to have a trial if the

37:50the victim the only witness that they've

37:52got isn't there but also at the same

37:54time this is a man that has literally

37:55been found guilty of that same crime

37:58before and he's still on probation for

38:00it so it's believable that he probably

38:03did this but anyway he was let free with

38:06absolutely zero repercussions like not

38:08even extended probation or anything like

38:11that it was literally as if it was just

38:13forgotten about it was as if the

38:15accusations just never even happened and

38:17we don't really know much more about

38:19that case at all although a lot of

38:22people believe that gasy did a similar

38:25thing to this boy as he did to Donald

38:27VES you know he paid Russell to go and

38:30beat him up and retract the statement

38:32maybe that's why this victim never

38:34turned up to the courthouse maybe he'd

38:36been threatened by John Wayne gasey or

38:39by you know a minion of his which makes

38:42the trial outome even more frustrating

38:45because gasy has also been found guilty

38:48of trying to intimidate a witness before

38:51so if that's a theory in this case I

38:53don't know his his track record is kind

38:56of proving itself here he he looks like

38:59he's just repeating the same things but

39:01for some reason they can't well they

39:04can't prove it this time round which is

39:06very very frustrating but anyway this

39:08close call that happened right here was

39:10enough to scare John Wayne gasy into

39:13laying law for a few months at least

39:15until his probation was up he was on

39:17probation for like a full year so for

39:19the rest of it he was just going to stay

39:21quiet not commit any more crimes but

39:23once that day came that he was released

39:26released from probation what's it called

39:28his probation ended gasey was right back

39:32to it actually that was factually

39:34incorrect he gave it four days four days

39:37his probation ended 4 days later he was

39:40right back to it John Wayne gasy

39:41sexually assaulted another young boy and

39:44again this boy isn't named in any

39:46articles although this this incident

39:48went a little bit different to the last

39:50one this time gasy actually pretended to

39:54be a cop he walked up to this this young

39:56boy flashed a fake police badge or like

40:00one that he'd stolen no idea where he

40:01got it from flashed this police badge

40:04and told the kid to get in his car with

40:05him and of course the kid did it because

40:08he thinks he's a police officer he's not

40:10going to say no to a police officer so

40:11gasy drove this boy back to his house

40:15forced him to engage in sexual acts with

40:17him and when he was done he just turned

40:19to the boy and he was like you can go

40:20now just let him free but then there was

40:23quite the turn of events allegedly so we

40:26don't know if this is exactly how this

40:28went but allegedly this young boy that

40:31had just been raped by gasy turned to

40:33him and he told gasy that he was going

40:35to go to the police about it but gayy

40:38could stop him going to the police if he

40:41gave him some money so he blackmailed

40:44gayy but gayy refused to give over a

40:47single penny he wasn't going to pay this

40:49boy and so as promised the boy went to

40:51the police station told them everything

40:54and John Wayne gasy was invited in for

40:56an interview but in this interview gasy

40:59told the police about the blackmailing

41:02so he didn't tell them the whole story

41:04of course he couldn't otherwise he would

41:06have to tell police that he did rape the

41:08boy but he told police that the boy was

41:11blackmailing him but he twisted the

41:12story he basically said that the kid

41:14wanted money out of gasi and the kid was

41:18willing to ruin gas's life over it if he

41:21didn't give him any money and so that's

41:23where these false accusations came from

41:25at least that's what gasy said to the

41:27police so now the kid wasn't seen as a

41:30credible Source they couldn't believe

41:32the story that he told them about the

41:34sexual assault and so again the case was

41:37just dropped gasy has done this twice

41:40sexually assaulted two teenage boys and

41:42somehow both of the cases have been

41:44dropped and because both of these

41:47accusations were dropped the Iowa parole

41:50board didn't hear about either of the

41:52cases either of the accusations they had

41:55no idea that gasy was was still

41:57offending still being accused of the

42:00same crimes while he was on probation

42:02they thought that he was doing really

42:03well and that he was getting back to a

42:05normal life after prison and because he

42:08seemed to be a changed man in the eyes

42:10of the parole board who didn't actually

42:12know anything um in a month's time once

42:15his probation was over they were like

42:17cool seems like John Wayne gas's a

42:19normal guy now he can he can just go out

42:21into the world so not only has his

42:24probation ended and he's got off scotf

42:26free but also at the end of his

42:28probation they decided to wipe his

42:31criminal record completely for some

42:34reason I don't know why they would do

42:36that so now there was no record of him

42:39ever being a sexual predator he would be

42:42allowed to apply for any job that he

42:43wanted he his past cannot hold him back

42:47at all there is no record of it there's

42:49only record you know for the police on

42:51their systems and whatever but he

42:53doesn't have to disclose the fact that

42:55he is a predator to any anyone now but

42:58that didn't stop like the rumors and

43:01stuff in that area everyone knew that

43:04there was something weird about gase and

43:05they'd seen police outside his house and

43:08even his own mother at this point in

43:10time was sick of all the trouble that

43:12gase was causing police were always at

43:14the house he was always doing court

43:16trials and she was always being called

43:18into the station cuz she needed to be

43:20interviewed as his mother and it got to

43:23the point where she actually offered her

43:25son money to move out out of the house

43:27and leave her alone and gladly he

43:30accepted cuz he didn't want to live with

43:32his mom anymore but money was his issue

43:34he couldn't afford to move out so he

43:36accepted that money and used it to put

43:38down a deposit on a brand new house for

43:41himself it was a ranch style house in a

43:44small town called Cook County in

43:46Illinois and this was like a brand new

43:49start for John Wayne gey and you know

43:50what he's like whenever he has a brand

43:52new start he always reaches rock bottom

43:54and then has a brand new start and

43:55somehow manages to build himself an even

43:58better reputation than the one that he

44:00had before and that's exactly what he

44:02did he starts making friends with all

44:04his new neighbors he's mooching he's

44:06socializing he is offering out free

44:09favors left right and Center he's like

44:11mowing people's Lawns shoveling snow for

44:14them off their driveways doing things

44:16for free making everyone love him and

44:19every year he would host huge parties at

44:22his house on his land cuz he had a lot

44:23of land and he would invite like

44:26hundreds of people everyone who was

44:27anyone was at John Wayne gas's parties

44:30even like politicians like very

44:32respected people in those areas people

44:34looked forward to these parties they

44:36loved them they loved John and after a

44:39little while of having his life back

44:41together gasi actually ended up moving

44:44his mother back in with him cuz she was

44:46getting older and after her husband died

44:49she was all alone um so yeah now that

44:51he'd calmed down and seemingly stopped

44:54committing crimes for a little while he

44:56moved it back in and it was actually

44:57around this time that gasy met the next

45:00love of his life a woman named Carol

45:03Hoff actually I say met but the two of

45:06them had actually known each other for a

45:08very very long time in fact they dated

45:11briefly in high school but things didn't

45:13really work out and they just went

45:14separate ways so now when gasy was like

45:1730 31 they reconnected and rekindled

45:21their romance they'd both since high

45:24school gone on and had their own lives

45:26they'd married had kids both of them had

45:29ended up divorcing and now they were

45:31both single in time to meet each other

45:33in their 30s and they really got on they

45:35got on like a house on fire the two of

45:37them actually ended up getting married

45:40and Carol moved into his ranch home and

45:43moved her two daughters in as well so

45:45now they were like a little bit of a

45:46family and also around the same time

45:49gasy set himself up his own business he

45:53became a contractor doing loads of stuff

45:57loads of like random little jobs like

45:58building jobs landscaping jobs gardening

46:01jobs any little like manual labor thing

46:04that the town's people needed doing he

46:06would do it I actually have a list of

46:08all the jobs that he did he was a he was

46:10a jack of all trades he did painting

46:12decorating maintenance repairs

46:14landscaping and that's it that's all

46:16I've got on my list but that's a lot and

46:18he was booked and busy with this job

46:21obviously cuz all the towns people loved

46:22him he was a very very popular man where

46:24he lived now and so this is the the kind

46:27of job that does well with like word

46:28word of mouth and like um

46:30recommendations and stuff so he was

46:33booked he was quickly earning a lot of

46:35money like almost as much money as he

46:37was earning as a KFC manager and this

46:40made him very very happy eventually he

46:42became so booked and busy that he had to

46:45start hiring other employees to like

46:47help him out do jobs with him or do

46:50other jobs at the same time as him

46:51because he couldn't be in two places at

46:53once and he was getting like he had so

46:56much demand but surprise surprise many

46:59of these employees well if not all of

47:01these employees that he was hiring were

47:04teenage boys and history repeated itself

47:08in exactly the way that you might

47:10imagine he would invite these employees

47:12round to his house out of hours get them

47:15drunk and proposition them for sex this

47:18would often be in return for money or

47:21even promotions or like extra work extra

47:24jobs if they would have sex with and

47:27sometimes the boys would oblige because

47:30they wanted these promotions they wanted

47:32the money and in the cases where they

47:35would still turn him down John Wayne

47:37gasey would find other ways to make them

47:41comply he would make up some random

47:44reason as to why his employee might owe

47:47him money a lot of money it would

47:49usually be a very high figure that the

47:51boy wouldn't be able to pay off and when

47:53the boy the employee would start

47:55panicking saying like oh I don't have

47:57that kind of money I can't pay you back

47:59John Wayne gasy would say oh don't worry

48:02you can repair in sexual favors instead

48:06and some of these boys were as young as

48:0814 years old being forced into having

48:12sex with this 30s something year old man

48:15and if the boys still tried to turn him

48:17down even after the whole debt thing

48:19then gase would remind them that he

48:22owned a lot of guns and he wasn't afraid

48:25to use them one occasion he said to one

48:28of his victims do you know how easy it

48:30would be for me to get one of my guns

48:32and kill you how easy it would be to get

48:34rid of the body and in the end these

48:36boys would always say yes to whatever

48:39gase wanted which is so sad that he went

48:42to such lengths to threaten them into

48:45submission literally threatening to kill

48:48them if they wouldn't have sex with him

48:50in

48:511973 gasey was contracted to do some

48:53work all the way in Florida which was

48:56like an 8 18-hour drive away from where

48:58he lived and he couldn't do this job in

49:01Florida alone he needed to bring another

49:04employee along with him it was a Twan

49:05job so gasy picked one of his um teenage

49:09boy employees and without telling this

49:12boy gasy booked them a hotel over in

49:15Florida for a few days but they didn't

49:18have a bedroom each they didn't even

49:20have a bed each they would be sharing a

49:23double bed a teenage boy and his 30s

49:26something year old old boss when they

49:27got to Florida and they got to this

49:29hotel room the boy walked in and saw one

49:33double bed and he was very shocked but

49:35he didn't say anything because he didn't

49:38want to I don't know he didn't want to

49:39be a pin he didn't want to cause

49:41problems you know he was just going to

49:42sleep in the bed it was only for a few

49:44nights and then they would be home but

49:46on their first night in that hotel room

49:49John Wayne gase's intentions became very

49:52clear and he raped his young employee

49:56the next morning when they woke up gy

50:00just acted as if nothing happened he got

50:03ready for work told his employee to get

50:05ready for work and then the two of them

50:07went out and did the job that they were

50:08contracted to be there for they didn't

50:10talk about it no one mentioned it and

50:13they just they just carried on as if

50:15nothing had happened and like I said

50:16they were there in Florida for a few

50:18days they were meeting up with the

50:21client and you know they were seeing

50:23people speaking to people and this whole

50:25time the employee didn't say a word

50:28about what was going on in their hotel

50:30room to anyone he was terrified of gasy

50:33for so many different reasons as well

50:35one he'd obviously already raped him

50:37once and he can do it again he also

50:40threatened to use guns several times

50:42with his employees so he was scared of

50:45losing his life and on top of that there

50:47was the fact that gasy could have

50:48literally just left this boy in Florida

50:5118 hours away from home he could have

50:53just left him there all alone gase was

50:55his ride home home so he had to be nice

50:58to him so this employee said nothing the

51:02whole time they were in Florida he just

51:04kept his head down and just waited to

51:06get home eventually they finished up

51:08this job in Florida and went back to

51:09Chicago and the very next day this

51:12employee was ready to get his revenge on

51:15John Wayne gy the employee stormed over

51:18to G's house met him outside and in

51:21front of his new wife Carol and her two

51:24kids he beat up John Wayne gy hard and

51:29Carol was so confused with what was

51:31going on she knew that that was his

51:33employee and she knew that that was the

51:35one that he'd just gone to Florida with

51:36so now she was so confused why they were

51:39in an argument as far as she was aware

51:41they'd just gone done the job everything

51:42was fine and they came home so when the

51:44boy eventually left and gasy came back

51:47inside all bloody and beaten she starts

51:49asking him all these questions like what

51:51the hell went on on that business trip

51:53and gey pretty much just told his wife

51:56that while they were away in Florida he

51:58and his employee had gotten into a bit

51:59of a fight because he felt as though his

52:02employee wasn't working hard enough and

52:04so he wasn't going to give his employee

52:07his full cut of the money and so the

52:09employee was mad that he wasn't going to

52:10get paided enough and so that was why he

52:13beat him up and Carol just accepted it

52:15she never knew the real reason why that

52:18happened and that was kind of the end of

52:20that as far as I'm aware I don't think

52:22that employee went to the police about

52:24it although he did distance himself from

52:27the company he did still work for gasy

52:29occasionally because he needed the money

52:32but he hated gayy of course he he didn't

52:35want to see him he didn't want to go

52:36near him he would only accept Jobs when

52:38he was desperate for money when John

52:40Wayne gasi was 33 years old he finally

52:43came out to his wife as bisexual and I

52:48think his wife was pretty chill about it

52:50as far as I could read up on but later

52:52that same night the two of them had sex

52:55and when they were done G he turned to

52:57her and said we're never doing that

52:59again that's the last time we're ever

53:00going to do that he said he still wanted

53:02to be with her he he still liked her he

53:04still wanted to be married to her and

53:06live with her and whatever but he didn't

53:08want to have sex with her he said that

53:09it made him uncomfortable he didn't

53:11enjoy it so he wasn't going to do it

53:13anymore and from this point on gasy

53:16started going on a lot more work trips

53:19and he was going out with his employees

53:21a lot and not coming home the same night

53:25and Carol knew what was was going on

53:27like she wasn't stupid she knew that her

53:30husband was cheating on her with other

53:33men mainly his employees but she didn't

53:36say anything about it for a while I

53:38think because she didn't have any proof

53:40she was waiting to get some proof though

53:41so Carol starts spying on her husband

53:45whenever he would go out with his with

53:47his employees on a night or like he

53:49would go out on a business trip she

53:51would wait up for him to return and she

53:54would watch out of the window and every

53:57time he would return home it would be

54:00with a younger boy a teenage boy and he

54:03thought that his wife would just be

54:04asleep at this point so he wasn't really

54:07trying to hide it he would just bring

54:09these boys home get out of the car with

54:10them they would usually go into the

54:12garage cuz he had like he'd like set up

54:15the garage as his like little man cave

54:19you know so Carol would watch as gasy

54:21and these boys went into the garage and

54:23then a few hours later he would come and

54:26CW into bed next to her as if nothing

54:28had happened so now she knew that

54:30something was up and she needed more

54:33proof and so her next move was to go

54:36into that garage and see what evidence

54:38she could find she wanted to know what

54:41her husband and these young boys were

54:43getting up to in that garage I think she

54:45already knew but she needed proof like I

54:48said so she went in there and she found

54:51Stacks and stacks and stacks of gay por

54:54magazines she even found a couple of

54:56boys IDs just like laying around in the

55:00garage and these IDs of course all had

55:02the boys birthdays on which told her

55:05just how young a lot of her husband's

55:08friends were teenagers Carol ended up

55:12confronting her husband about this and

55:14they argued and argued and argued

55:17repeatedly for months about this carol

55:20wasn't going to let it go and gasy

55:22somehow had a rebuttal for every

55:25argument that she had had she could

55:27never win these arguments against him

55:29and eventually gasi had had enough of

55:32her getting on his back about it

55:34essentially and he suggested that they

55:36just get a divorce if she so bothered

55:39about him cheating on her with children

55:42then they should just get a divorce

55:43Carol agreed that this wasn't the

55:46marriage that she wanted nor was it the

55:48marriage that she thought she was

55:50getting herself into a couple of years

55:52ago and so she packed her things took

55:54her two daughters and left after his

55:57wife left John Wayne gasi threw himself

56:00into his work I mean he'd already been

56:03working like 12-hour days before this

56:06but now he was working 15 hour days

56:08literally the only time he stopped was

56:10to sleep or to drink he barely even

56:14noticed his wife's absence in his life

56:17she really towards the end of that

56:19relationship he barely even saw her

56:22barely even spoke to her so it was as if

56:24nothing really changed that same year

56:27John Wayne gasy decided that it was time

56:29for something new in his life and one

56:32thing about that man he loved a good

56:34club a good organization a good group of

56:39men that he could be a part of and so he

56:41went out and he found himself a new club

56:44and that was when he was made aware of a

56:46new club that was going on in town it

56:48was called the Jolly Joker club and this

56:51was a group of men that would try to

56:53help out the community they would do

56:56fundraising they would go help out at

56:59Children's Hospitals they would do

57:01children's parties for free all while

57:04dressed up as clowns and clowns in this

57:08day and age in 2022 they are horrifying

57:11they are creepy they are you know they

57:13have so many negative connotations

57:15because of like horror movies and stuff

57:17but at this point in time in the

57:191970s everyone loved a good clown they

57:22they were at all the kids birthday

57:24parties they were they were quite normal

57:26so yeah John way gasy joined the Jolly

57:29Joker club and he became a clown um and

57:33he set himself up like two little

57:35characters he had one character named

57:38Pergo the clown which was the one that

57:39he used more often than not and Pogo was

57:43just a typical clown he was he was Jolly

57:46he was Good Vibes he was funny he was

57:48silly but then he had his other

57:50character named patches and patches was

57:54the complete opposite of perger patches

57:56was very serious he was very almost

57:59depressed kind of miserable he was a bit

58:02of a mpy clown so you can already tell

58:05that gasy is taking this clown stuff

58:08very very seriously he has planned

58:10himself out two different characters

58:12with two different personalities two

58:13different looks he is really into this

58:16clown stuff already he would spend all

58:19of his spare time thinking about his new

58:22clown hobby he would design new outfits

58:24sew them up he would think about

58:27different face paint uh designs that he

58:30could do and one of the main things that

58:32he loved about being a clown in the

58:35Jolly Joker's Club is that it allowed

58:37him to regress back into his childhood I

58:40think that's how he put it and that he

58:43never really had a childhood when he was

58:46younger because he was always so badly

58:48abused by his father that now he felt

58:51that he could finally like live out that

58:54lost childhood as an adult and gase

58:57loved being a clown so much that he

59:00would do all of his clown work for free

59:02I mean he didn't need any more money he

59:05was very very rich with his contracting

59:07business it was very big now he had a

59:09lot of employees under him that he was

59:12earning money through as well he didn't

59:14need any extra money and he just loved

59:16being a clown so he would just go out

59:17and do it for free he would go to kids

59:19hospitals cheer up the kids on the ward

59:22he would do birthday parties for free

59:24and it also gave everyone else in the

59:26town just another reason to love John

59:28way and gase because he was doing all

59:30their kids parties for free just oh just

59:33another thing that gase is doing for the

59:34community he would shovel the snow he

59:36would mow The Lawns he would be the

59:39clown at the party he was you know he

59:41was a full package so he's doing this

59:43clown gig for a couple of hours a week

59:45but like I said he was working a lot

59:47like 15 hour days some days he did not

59:50have much spare time and that was what

59:53he wanted he wanted to free up more time

59:55for sing around I guess so he starts

59:58hiring on a lot more employees like a

1:00:00lot a lot and they're obviously all

1:00:03young teenage boys and one of the next

1:00:06employees that he hired was a

1:00:0815-year-old boy named Anthony antonucci

1:00:11two months into working for gasy Anthony

1:00:14called in sick one morning and said that

1:00:17he'd really injured his ankle the day

1:00:19before on his shift the day before and

1:00:21so today he wasn't going to be able to

1:00:23go in and work so gy was like oh you

1:00:25know hope you're okay I'll pop around

1:00:27later with a little get well soon gift

1:00:30so Anthony antonucci is home alone when

1:00:32gasy knocks on his door with the get

1:00:35well soon gift a bottle of alcohol for a

1:00:3815-year-old boy gy insisted that Anthony

1:00:41let him in and the two of them share the

1:00:44bottle of alcohol and obviously Anthony

1:00:46said yes I mean he didn't want to

1:00:47disappoint his boss so yeah this young

1:00:49boy this I think this was like the first

1:00:52time we'd ever had alcohol so he got

1:00:54pretty wasted pretty quickly and as the

1:00:57two of them were drinking gasy pulled

1:00:59out another gift for Anthony from his

1:01:02bag a porn magazine and Anthony had

1:01:05never seen porn before it was a it was

1:01:09like a what are they VHS tip and so

1:01:12gasey went and put on the movie for them

1:01:14and they sat and watched it and they

1:01:16finished this bottle of alcohol and when

1:01:18they did it was very clear that Anthony

1:01:21was very very intoxicated and so gasy

1:01:24knew that now it was was time for him to

1:01:26put his full plan into action he reached

1:01:29down into his bag and pulled out some

1:01:32handcuffs he turned to Anthony grabbed

1:01:35both of his hands shoved them behind his

1:01:37back and handcuffed him so he couldn't

1:01:39move he couldn't run away gayy didn't

1:01:42say a word to Anthony he didn't tell him

1:01:45why he'd just done that but gayy stood

1:01:47up and went outside to his car he must

1:01:50have forgotten something in his car but

1:01:52what he didn't realize was that Anthony

1:01:54wasn't actually

1:01:56fully like handcuffed one of the Cuffs

1:02:00hadn't closed properly so Anthony was

1:02:02able to undo that one so now he wasn't

1:02:05bound really he just had like floppy

1:02:07handcuffs on one of his wrists but

1:02:09quickly Anthony came up with a plan he

1:02:11knew that when gasy returned he had to

1:02:15still look like he was handcuffed he

1:02:16didn't want gasy to be suspicious and so

1:02:18he stayed there even though he was free

1:02:20he stayed there with his hands behind

1:02:22his back when gy returned to the room

1:02:24Anthony stayed with his hands behind his

1:02:27back until gayy came and stood about

1:02:29here and once he was close enough

1:02:32Anthony attacked he grabbed gase's legs

1:02:36and completely flipped him in the air in

1:02:38some sort of like wrestling move and

1:02:40once gasy was down on the floor Anthony

1:02:42kept hold of his legs so he couldn't go

1:02:44anywhere gase was like trying to wriggle

1:02:46trying to get up but he couldn't move

1:02:48and Anthony was rumaging around in his

1:02:50pockets and eventually he found the key

1:02:53to the other side of the handcuffs he

1:02:55unlocked Ed his other hand from them so

1:02:57now he was fully free from these

1:02:59handcuffs and then somehow this

1:03:0115-year-old boy managed to wrestle this

1:03:0430 something year old fully grown man

1:03:07into the handcuffs and locked him in

1:03:10them he managed to handcuff John Wayne

1:03:12gasy his

1:03:14attacker and and he was just laid on the

1:03:17floor and the whole time gasy is

1:03:19screaming at him threatening him to

1:03:21unlock him from those handcuffs or he

1:03:22was going to kill him but Anthony knew

1:03:24that he was safe as long as those

1:03:26handcuffs were locked and so he just

1:03:29stood back he just stood back and waited

1:03:31for John Wayne gasy to come down

1:03:34eventually when gasey stopped screaming

1:03:37the two of them had a conversation for I

1:03:39think a couple of hours they were

1:03:41talking about this for a while and by

1:03:43the end of the conversation gasy seemed

1:03:45very embarrassed and remorseful and he

1:03:49promised Anthony that if he just

1:03:51unlocked him just took the handcuffs off

1:03:54him then he would leave and he wouldn't

1:03:56cause any more issues and Anthony

1:03:58believed him so he unlocked the

1:04:00handcuffs and gasy stuck to his word he

1:04:03got up and he left but then Anthony had

1:04:06to see gayy at work every day that was

1:04:10his boss and actually gy kept

1:04:13referencing what had gone on between

1:04:16them at work it's almost as if he

1:04:18thought it was some sort of like flirty

1:04:21little inside joke between the two of

1:04:23them he would say things like not only

1:04:25are you you the one who got out of the

1:04:27Cuffs you got them on me and you can see

1:04:29the complete disconnect from his actions

1:04:32there especially in that statement this

1:04:34is a 15-year-old child that you

1:04:38handcuffed in order to do some heinous

1:04:40things to him probably traumatized him

1:04:43to his car and now you just dropping

1:04:47flirty little teasing little comments

1:04:49about it during the work day not only

1:04:51that but that comment there suggested

1:04:53that Anthony wasn't the first first and

1:04:56only person that gayy had done this to

1:04:58and he certainly wouldn't be the last

1:05:01either gasey then laid low again for

1:05:03about a year until July of 1976 when he

1:05:07was driving down the highway one day

1:05:09when he passed a hitchhiker and decided

1:05:12to pick him up this hitchhiker was an

1:05:1418-year-old boy named David crra I

1:05:16believe David was a runaway although I'm

1:05:19not entirely sure but either way as the

1:05:21two of them were driving they got

1:05:22talking got to know each other and David

1:05:25mentioned that he needed a job and Casey

1:05:29just lit up at the thought of this

1:05:31immediately he's like oh I have a

1:05:33contracting company come work with us we

1:05:35need more employees boys exactly like

1:05:37you strong boys that can do this this

1:05:39and that D and David thought this was

1:05:42amazing he was literally being offered a

1:05:44job on a silver platter by some guy that

1:05:46seemed really helpful really kind and so

1:05:49yeah David took the job they worked

1:05:51together for about a month um and as

1:05:53gayy was getting to know David CR more

1:05:55and more he realized that he didn't have

1:05:57anywhere to stay and so gasey actually

1:06:00offered David cram one of the spare

1:06:02bedrooms in his house cuz he had a few

1:06:05now that his wife and kids had left

1:06:07David happily agreed to move in because

1:06:09this guy seemed like Jesus right now he

1:06:13had offered him a job a place to stay

1:06:15this guy was sorting him right out so

1:06:17yeah David moved in a day before his

1:06:2019th birthday and so the night that he

1:06:22moved in the two of them decided to

1:06:24celebrate and they got really really

1:06:26really drunk and actually for for David

1:06:30K's birthday John Wayne gasy decided to

1:06:33dress up as Pogo the clown cuz what's a

1:06:35birthday without a clown a 19th birthday

1:06:38as well once the two of them were really

1:06:40really drunk GC once again reached for

1:06:43his handcuffs and handcuffed David's

1:06:45hands in front of him this time and then

1:06:48he grabbed the chin between the cuffs

1:06:52and started swinging David around the

1:06:54room by by the chain of the handcuffs

1:06:57immediately David didn't like this he

1:06:59was screaming he was begging gasy to

1:07:01stop but gasey just responded by telling

1:07:04David that he was going to rape him and

1:07:06this must have sent like a shock of

1:07:09adrenaline through David's body and

1:07:11somehow he got the strength to pull away

1:07:14from gasy and kick him in the face and

1:07:17this was a pretty hard kick as well like

1:07:19gase went flying across the room and he

1:07:23was like down on the floor giving David

1:07:25enough time to run over rummage through

1:07:28his pockets and find the key for the

1:07:30handcuffs he managed to get the

1:07:31handcuffs off of his hands gayy at this

1:07:34point wasn't trying to like I don't know

1:07:37chase after him or get him back or

1:07:39anything David took the handcuffs off

1:07:41and just went to bed in his separate

1:07:44bedroom where he lived in gas's house

1:07:46and that was that for the evening he

1:07:49David was forced to sleep in the same

1:07:51house as this man that had just

1:07:53threatened to rape him he had no other

1:07:55Choice he had nowhere else to go he just

1:07:57had to kind of hope that gase wasn't

1:08:00going to try again and David stayed

1:08:01living there as well after that night he

1:08:05he tried to like stay out of gas's way

1:08:08most of the time um but yeah I think

1:08:11they just kind of carried on as if

1:08:13nothing happened about a month after

1:08:16that incident so they hadn't really

1:08:18talked about it again after that but a

1:08:20month later in the middle of the night

1:08:22David cram woke up to see gay standing

1:08:26in his doorway and he said to him Dave

1:08:29you really don't know who I am maybe it

1:08:31would be good if you gave me what I want

1:08:33he then tried to rape David cram for a

1:08:36second time but David fought back

1:08:39managed to get gasy down on the floor

1:08:41and pinned him down until he calmed down

1:08:44and promised that he wouldn't do

1:08:46anything once he felt like he was no

1:08:48longer in danger David got off of gasy

1:08:51like un unpinned him down what's the

1:08:54word for that anyway he got off off him

1:08:56and as gasy left the room he turned to

1:08:58David and said you ain't no fun and

1:09:00after this second attempt David knew

1:09:03that he could not live or work with John

1:09:05Wayne gy anymore he just couldn't it was

1:09:08too dangerous so the next morning David

1:09:10cram left and he went to go and live and

1:09:12work somewhere else but gasy didn't see

1:09:15this as a loss exactly in fact he saw it

1:09:18as an opportunity to get a new lodger in

1:09:21the house so he moved another one of his

1:09:24employees into the house this time it

1:09:26was 18-year-old Michael Rossy uh yeah he

1:09:29moved into David cram's old bedroom and

1:09:31weirdly enough gy actually got Michael

1:09:34Rossy to join the Jolly Jokers Club as

1:09:37well so not only is this guy his

1:09:40employee his roommate and also now his

1:09:43clown friend they were out doing clown

1:09:45stuff together we don't actually have

1:09:47many details about Michael rossy's time

1:09:50living with John Wayne gasy although we

1:09:52can imagine it was probably quite

1:09:54similar to David Kon and I just want to

1:09:56take a moment right now to like step

1:09:59back and remind you exactly who John

1:10:01Wayne gasy is or who he seems to be to

1:10:05the rest of the community cuz we've been

1:10:06talking about all the horrible things

1:10:08that he does but bear in mind the

1:10:11neighborhood doesn't know about any of

1:10:13that to them he was this great guy that

1:10:17worked hard super successful huge

1:10:20contracting business like the

1:10:22contracting business in that area he was

1:10:25the guy that you went to if you needed

1:10:26something doing he was so well respected

1:10:30so well known he would have been a

1:10:32millionaire in today's money probably a

1:10:35multi-millionaire by the end of the case

1:10:37I'm pretty sure he was powerful he was

1:10:39Untouchable no one could go against him

1:10:42he had political connections he had he

1:10:44had politician friends gy was very very

1:10:47good at manipulating and persuading

1:10:49people and he was seen as a great guy

1:10:52very charitable he would do all the

1:10:53clown stuff in children's hospitals for

1:10:55free everyone loved him so no one

1:10:59expected that he would be doing all of

1:11:01this heinous stuff behind closed doors

1:11:05and I think that's one of the main

1:11:07reasons why he was able to get away with

1:11:09all of this for so long because people

1:11:11just couldn't believe any like little

1:11:14suspicions that they had people would

1:11:16just talk themselves out of it like oh

1:11:18no of course not John Wayne gasy he's

1:11:20he's a great guy he would never do that

1:11:23in

1:11:231978 John Wayne gase he was about 36

1:11:27years old at this point and he had

1:11:30another client this time it was a

1:11:32pharmacy owner and he was called there

1:11:34to this Pharmacy to talk about

1:11:36remodeling it and while he was at this

1:11:38Pharmacy he clocked the young boy that

1:11:41was working at the cashier 15-year-old

1:11:44Robert priest and immediately gase was

1:11:46taken with this young boy and so he

1:11:49started planning how he was going to get

1:11:53him while speaking to the store manager

1:11:55gasey started talking loud enough that

1:11:58he knew that Robert priest at the

1:12:00cashier would be able to hear him and he

1:12:02starts like bragging gasey asked the

1:12:05pharmacy guy about like wages and how

1:12:08much he pays his staff and when the guy

1:12:10responded gasy seemed so shocked and

1:12:13horrified and he was like what what do

1:12:15you mean I pay my workers like five

1:12:18times that which of course sparked young

1:12:21Robert priest's interest in the

1:12:23conversation at about 9 p.m. that night

1:12:26Robert priest's mother came to pick him

1:12:27up from his work and Robert ran outside

1:12:30with his coat he seemed super excited

1:12:32and he said to his mom some contractor

1:12:34wants to talk to me about a job and so

1:12:37his mom was like okay go go go talk to

1:12:40him and she agreed to wait outside in

1:12:42her car for her son to come back she

1:12:44waited about 15 minutes and Robert

1:12:46wasn't coming back and actually it was

1:12:48her birthday that day his mom's birthday

1:12:51and they were all planning to have like

1:12:52a family meal when they got home and so

1:12:55she was getting a bit impatient and

1:12:56eventually she got out of the car and

1:12:58went inside the pharmacy to go and find

1:13:00her son but when she got

1:13:02inside he wasn't there in fact no one

1:13:05was the pharmacy was completely empty

1:13:07and so she went back out into the car

1:13:09park and she's like running around

1:13:10looking for her son but he is nowhere to

1:13:13be found so now panicked beyond belief

1:13:17his mother red home and spent the rest

1:13:19of her birthday filling out a missing

1:13:22person's report for her young son so

1:13:24police got straight on the case starting

1:13:27obviously at the pharmacy where he was

1:13:29last seen they went there they spoke to

1:13:31the star manager and of course because

1:13:33of the conversation that Robert had had

1:13:35with his mom saying that he was going to

1:13:36go speak to a contractor police asked

1:13:39the store owner if they knew anything

1:13:41about a contractor of course he did he'd

1:13:44been speaking to John Wayne gasey all

1:13:46day so he gave over the name John Wayne

1:13:48gasy so the police officers that were

1:13:51put on Robert's missing person's case

1:13:53right from the beginning they thought

1:13:55that he had been abducted that was the

1:13:58main Theory and of course this

1:14:00contractor seemed like the top suspect

1:14:03so police got looking into this

1:14:05contractor this John Wayne gasey they

1:14:07typed his name in on their little police

1:14:09system and even though his criminal

1:14:11record was white it was obviously still

1:14:14available to police so they typed in his

1:14:16name and they found all these previous

1:14:20convictions and accusations of sexual

1:14:22assault against children and as soon as

1:14:25they saw that they knew they had to be

1:14:27on the right track I mean the victim in

1:14:29his previous conviction was around the

1:14:32same age Donald VES was 15 and so was

1:14:35Robert priest this was his exact victim

1:14:38type and so once they saw this a full

1:14:41investigation was launched into John

1:14:43Wayne gasey so police found gase's

1:14:46address on the system and they went

1:14:47straight to his house to go and speak to

1:14:49him and the conversation started off

1:14:52well to be honest gasy admitted that he

1:14:54had been at the pharmacy that day and

1:14:56that he had seen Robert priest in the

1:14:59pharmacy but he denied ever speaking to

1:15:01him in fact his full story was that he

1:15:04didn't speak to anyone other than the

1:15:06star owner while he was there he said he

1:15:08went into the pharmacy spoke to the star

1:15:10owner about the remodeling and then left

1:15:12straight away like didn't do anything

1:15:14else didn't dilly dally just that he did

1:15:17say that a couple of hours after he left

1:15:19he realized that he' left his notebook

1:15:22at the pharmacy and so he drove back to

1:15:24the pharmacy

1:15:25picked up the notebook again only spoke

1:15:27to the store manager literally just said

1:15:29Hi and then left again but police

1:15:32weren't very satisfied with gas's

1:15:35version of events here and so they asked

1:15:36him if he would come back to the police

1:15:38station with him for like a proper

1:15:40official interview but gasy actually

1:15:43refused and I mean he was allowed to do

1:15:47that because he wasn't arrested but it

1:15:49doesn't look good does it he actually

1:15:51told police that his uncle had passed

1:15:53away that morning and so his family

1:15:56actually really needed him right now um

1:15:59so police wer exactly going to force him

1:16:01to come down for a questioning on the

1:16:02same day that his uncle died in fact

1:16:04gayy did tell them that he would stop by

1:16:06at the police station later on but like

1:16:09right now he needed to be with his

1:16:10family so police were like okay cool uh

1:16:13what time do you think you can come down

1:16:15to the police station and when they

1:16:17asked that gasy got a little bit pissed

1:16:19off he snapped at the officers saying

1:16:21you guys are very rude don't you have

1:16:23any respect for the Dead dead and then

1:16:25he told them to leave his house gayy

1:16:27eventually did make his way to the

1:16:29police station in the early hours of the

1:16:31morning weirdly enough he turned up at

1:16:33the police station at like 2:30 a.m. and

1:16:36he was covered in mud for some reason

1:16:38police asked him what had happened like

1:16:40why he was covered in mud and gase said

1:16:42that he'd been in a car accident but he

1:16:44didn't want to talk about it and he was

1:16:46okay odd so police just kind of Let It

1:16:49Go I mean they just let him be weird

1:16:52because really all they cared about was

1:16:5415-year-old Robert priest they wanted to

1:16:55know where he was they didn't care why

1:16:57he was covered in mud so they asked gasy

1:17:00to reiterate his whole story exactly

1:17:03what he'd done that day and he told the

1:17:05exact same story again that he went to

1:17:06the pharmacy only spoke to the store

1:17:08owner left forgot his diary went back

1:17:11only spoke to the store owner and left

1:17:14again so police asked gasy like oh how

1:17:16did you know that you'd left your

1:17:18notebook at the pharmacy and not

1:17:20somewhere else not at like one of your

1:17:21other appointments and gasy said that it

1:17:24was because the the store owner had

1:17:26actually called him up and been like oh

1:17:28you left your notebook I've got your

1:17:29notebook and immediately police knew

1:17:31that this was a lie because the star

1:17:34owner had told them that he hadn't

1:17:36spoken to gasey since he left so it

1:17:39seems that gasy actually came back for

1:17:42his diary off his own accord but why did

1:17:45he have to lie why did he have to tell

1:17:48police that the star owner had called

1:17:51him when he hadn't but police didn't let

1:17:53on to gase that that they knew that he

1:17:55was lying right now they just kind of

1:17:57let him keep lying and they let him lie

1:17:59in his statement as well they let him

1:18:02leave the police station that night

1:18:04thinking that he was in the clear

1:18:06thinking that no one was suspicious of

1:18:07him that he had just told his story and

1:18:09everything was fine but of course this

1:18:11only made police a million times more

1:18:14suspicious the fact that he lied and it

1:18:16was a seemingly very

1:18:17small insignificant lie as well why do

1:18:21you need to lie about where your

1:18:22notebook is or how you realize that your

1:18:24notebook was

1:18:25lost you know odd thing to lie about

1:18:28unless it's connected to a bigger lie

1:18:30but to be fair that didn't matter right

1:18:32now because police thought that John

1:18:34Wayne gasy was an abductor and they

1:18:36thought that he probably had Robert

1:18:38priest back at his house so with this in

1:18:41mind police obtained a search warrant

1:18:43for John Wayne gas's house that they

1:18:45received two days after Robert priest

1:18:47went missing so they rocked up and

1:18:49knocked on gas's door completely

1:18:51unannounced with their search warrant in

1:18:53hand gasy had no time to prepare he had

1:18:56no time to hide anything he just had to

1:18:58let them in and let them search and this

1:19:01search was very revealing they found a

1:19:04lot of suspicious stuff and I just have

1:19:06a whole honker of a list here so I'm

1:19:08just going to read everything out they

1:19:10found a 6mm pistol several fake police

1:19:13badges with various different names on

1:19:16them several driving licenses belonging

1:19:18to different young men a high school

1:19:21ring from the class of 1975 engraved

1:19:24with the initials j s a syringe and a

1:19:28hypodermic needle a load of random drugs

1:19:31load of random recreational drugs

1:19:34hallucinogenics uh opiates I don't know

1:19:38Lads of random drugs they found

1:19:39handcuffs Nyon rope loads of different

1:19:42pornographic films they actually found

1:19:44two books with very similar story lines

1:19:47of like an older man falling for a a a a

1:19:52teenage boy like a boy that is not Le

1:19:55they found an 18in dildo uh underwear

1:19:59and a blue Parker coat both of which

1:20:02were too small to fit John Wayne gasy

1:20:04suggesting that they were someone else's

1:20:07and finally a receipt from the pharmacy

1:20:10where Robert priest worked was found in

1:20:13the jacket pocket that they found

1:20:15initially police were very very

1:20:17interested in that receipt because it

1:20:19seemingly proved that John Wayne gas's

1:20:21story was a lie he said that he had gone

1:20:24to the Pharmacy and only spoken to the

1:20:26star owner but if he had a receipt that

1:20:29proved that he had paid for something

1:20:31then surely that meant he would have

1:20:33spoken to the cashier and who was the

1:20:35cashier 15-year-old Robert priest so

1:20:38this only added to the suspicion against

1:20:40John Wayne gasy it seemed that he had

1:20:42lied a lot in his interview after this

1:20:45search police decided to look into gas's

1:20:48company his contracting company and all

1:20:50of his different employees and they

1:20:53actually found that one of his employees

1:20:54a young man named Charles hula had

1:20:57tragically passed away not long before

1:21:00this he was found drowned to death in a

1:21:03river and it's completely unknown how he

1:21:06got there how he drowned why he was

1:21:08there and now it just seemed very weird

1:21:12paired with the suspicious circumstances

1:21:14that they were investigating now and

1:21:17there was also another you know

1:21:19suspicious circumstance connected to

1:21:21gasi weird so police had seized all the

1:21:24items that I listed earlier that they

1:21:26found in his house and they were very

1:21:28interested in that High School ring with

1:21:31the initials J engraved on it who was J

1:21:35cuz it obviously wasn't John Wayne gy so

1:21:37again they looked into it they got in

1:21:38contact with the school and they like

1:21:41really analyzed this ring and they found

1:21:43that it belonged to a boy named John

1:21:45shik and at this point in time John shik

1:21:49was missing another weird suspicious

1:21:53circumstance relating to to John Wayne

1:21:55gy death tragedy and disappearance seem

1:21:58to just follow this man wherever he goes

1:22:01John shik's parents hadn't heard from

1:22:03him in weeks and they were so so worried

1:22:06about him so now that police are

1:22:07starting to piece together weird corners

1:22:10of gas's Life they're very very very

1:22:12suspicious about him and they decided to

1:22:15put him on 24hours surveillance they

1:22:18wanted to see what this man was up to in

1:22:20his day-to-day life and they needed to

1:22:22keep tabs on him in case tragedy death

1:22:24and disappearance kept following him and

1:22:27being under 24-hour surveillance very

1:22:30quickly irritated John Wayne gy it got

1:22:33under his skin somewhat shocking because

1:22:36he already HED the police for obvious

1:22:38reasons because they tried to put a stop

1:22:40to every awful thing that he did so

1:22:42obviously he didn't like them but he

1:22:44always felt like he was above the police

1:22:46he looked down on the police and he

1:22:48always thought that he could outdo them

1:22:50and so actually gasy went about this in

1:22:53quite an interesting way

1:22:55he decided to try and befriend the

1:22:58surveillance officers that were watching

1:23:00him he was super super friendly with

1:23:02them he would always go outside spark up

1:23:04conversation with them even invite them

1:23:06into his house for a drink which we they

1:23:09would more often than not well actually

1:23:11all the time they would turn it down

1:23:12because that's highly inappropriate to

1:23:15go for a drink in this guy's house who

1:23:17they think is a murderer probably a

1:23:19murderer in the end gasy got so miffed

1:23:22off with this 24-hour surveillance that

1:23:24he actually started accusing police of

1:23:28specifically targeting him due to his

1:23:31political affiliation I don't know

1:23:34though no one really believed it cuz

1:23:36there was there's there's evidence man

1:23:38there is evidence as to why they have

1:23:40you on surveillance because weird [ __ ]

1:23:43surrounds you it's not because you're a

1:23:46politician so yeah now gas is getting so

1:23:48miffed off with this surveillance that

1:23:51he starts like taking the piss with it

1:23:53he starts taking the mick out of these

1:23:55offices so he would like go and get in

1:23:57his car at random times during the night

1:24:00knowing that these police had to follow

1:24:02him wherever he went so he would just

1:24:04take him on Wild Goose chases he would

1:24:06do he would he would go wherever he

1:24:08wanted he would like try and swerve

1:24:09around and try and lose them and just

1:24:12generally try and make the surveillance

1:24:14officer's lives harder just cuz he could

1:24:17so as all of this surveillance stuff was

1:24:19going on the other police officers were

1:24:22trying to find any evidence that they

1:24:25possibly could against John Wayne gasy

1:24:27and so they were speaking to everyone in

1:24:29his life family well he didn't really

1:24:32have much family around him anymore did

1:24:33he but like people that used to be his

1:24:35family um employees and even people that

1:24:39he had rented out his bedrooms to

1:24:41although there was no rent involved his

1:24:44lodges you know the boys that he let

1:24:46sleep in his spare room first up was

1:24:48David cram the first of The Lodgers you

1:24:51know the hitch hiker that he picked up

1:24:53off the side of the road and then

1:24:54attempted to rape twice before David had

1:24:57to run away and leave the company

1:25:00because his boss kept trying to rape him

1:25:01at the time David had never reported

1:25:04either of those incidents but now that

1:25:06police had come to him and started

1:25:08asking about gasy he was willing to tell

1:25:10him every detail that he could remember

1:25:13on top of the multiple cases of

1:25:15attempted sexual assault David cram also

1:25:18remembered something else really weird

1:25:20about his time living at gas's house so

1:25:22one day David was just chilling in the

1:25:24house and gasy approached him and said

1:25:27that he had a gift for him he put his

1:25:29hand in his pocket and pulled out a

1:25:31watch and it was supposed to be like a

1:25:33bit of a jokey present because David

1:25:35Crown was really bad at timekeeping he

1:25:37was always late to things and so gasy

1:25:39was like look I got you a watch so you

1:25:41won't be late anymore so David laughed

1:25:43and he was like oh where did you get

1:25:44this from and gasey responded from a

1:25:47dead person David just thought it was

1:25:49like a really weird dark joke at the

1:25:52time but now that police had come to him

1:25:55because they thought that this guy was

1:25:57genuinely really dangerous David now

1:25:59thought back to that incident and

1:26:01thought Oh my God what if there was some

1:26:03truth in that what if he had actually

1:26:06stolen some Dead Guy watch but that

1:26:09wasn't the only thing that now seemed

1:26:11weird in retrospect David was

1:26:13remembering loads of weird stories about

1:26:15John Wayne gasey like for example one

1:26:17time when when the police came to search

1:26:20his house actually gasy wasn't there at

1:26:22the time but he came back to the house

1:26:25once the police had left and as soon as

1:26:27he walked in he saw mud all over the

1:26:31floors inside his house and this sent

1:26:33him into panic mode gasey went pale as a

1:26:37ghost because he feared that this mud

1:26:40all over the floor meant the police had

1:26:42found his secret trenches secret

1:26:47passageway under the house and this is

1:26:50when police learned right David cram sat

1:26:52there and told the police that that for

1:26:54months John Wayne gasy had him digging

1:26:57out trenches like underground passages

1:27:01underneath the house gy told David at

1:27:03the time that it was for like drainage

1:27:05or something I don't know he gave him

1:27:07quite a sound reason and David didn't

1:27:08think too much of it but the way that

1:27:11gasy panicked when he came back to the

1:27:13house suggested that those trenches were

1:27:16not for drainage and perhaps they had a

1:27:19much more Sinister reason for existing

1:27:22these underground trenches this like

1:27:24passageway is referred to in this case

1:27:27as the crawl space so if I keep calling

1:27:29it the crawl space those are the

1:27:31trenches that David cram and actually

1:27:33someone else dug but we'll get there in

1:27:35a minute so yeah as soon as gasy came

1:27:37back that day and he saw this mud all

1:27:39over the house he flipped out panicked

1:27:41and had to go and check the crawl space

1:27:44for evidence of digging because he

1:27:46needed to see if the police had gone

1:27:48there but when gasey returned from the

1:27:50crawl spaces afterwards David cram said

1:27:53that he seemed significantly calmer so

1:27:55he must not have found any evidence of

1:27:57digging I guess police had no idea about

1:28:00this crawl space these passageways

1:28:02underneath the house David crra telling

1:28:05them this was the first they'd ever

1:28:07heard of this they they hadn't found

1:28:09them by themselves they had no idea they

1:28:11existed and that was everything that

1:28:12David cram could really tell police

1:28:14about John Wayne gasy he told them about

1:28:16all his personal incidents that he had

1:28:18with him and some other super weird

1:28:21stuff as well so now police were even

1:28:23more eager to speak to the other lodger

1:28:26that gase had had in his house before

1:28:29Michael Rossy and Michael had some very

1:28:32very similar stories to David cram like

1:28:35for example one day Michael was just

1:28:37chilling in the house and gayy came home

1:28:40with a new car the random car that

1:28:42Michael had never seen before so he went

1:28:44out and he was like oh where where did

1:28:46you where didd you get this from and

1:28:47gasy couldn't really give him a straight

1:28:49answer he just didn't really answer

1:28:51we'll come back to that car a little bit

1:28:54later on in the case but Michael had so

1:28:56much more to tell police like he was

1:28:58also involved in the digging of the

1:29:00trenches underneath the house although

1:29:03at a separate time to David crra they

1:29:05didn't work on them together apparently

1:29:07John Wayne gasy had been very very

1:29:09strict about where the boys could and

1:29:11couldn't dig basically the trenches that

1:29:13he wanted were about 6 foot long 2T deep

1:29:17and two foot wide which is about the

1:29:20same dimensions as a human Grave by the

1:29:22way and Michael Ross had also been

1:29:25instructed to lay about 10 bags of lime

1:29:28in these trenches and a little science

1:29:30lesson for you now lime is very alkaline

1:29:33and when it mixes with water it makes

1:29:36calcium hydroxide which is an incredibly

1:29:39corrosive substance just one drop of

1:29:41calcium hydroxide on your skin can cause

1:29:43like a chemical burn and it is used in a

1:29:46lot of murder cases to dissolve bodies

1:29:50to dissolve evidence but lime is also

1:29:53used in construction jobs and

1:29:55landscaping jobs and what was John Wayne

1:29:57gasy a damn contractor so when he was

1:30:01ordering 10 bloody big bags of lime no

1:30:04one questioned it he could get hold of

1:30:06it so easily so after speaking to David

1:30:08cram and Michael Rossy police had a lot

1:30:11of interesting information against gasey

1:30:14but they still had a lot more that

1:30:15needed investigating as well a lot more

1:30:18they were very very interested in that

1:30:20Pharmacy receipt that they found in that

1:30:22jacket pocket in his house in a jacket

1:30:25that didn't belong to John Wayne gasy

1:30:27might I add because the jacket was way

1:30:29too small for him interesting they

1:30:31thought that this receipt in the pocket

1:30:34proved gas's story to be a lie but as

1:30:37they started looking into it it seemed a

1:30:39lot more complicated than they

1:30:40originally thought turns out the receipt

1:30:43wasn't actually gasy it actually

1:30:46belonged to a young girl a 17-year-old

1:30:48Kimberly buyers who actually worked at

1:30:51the pharmacy I'm not entirely sure how

1:30:54they found out that it was her receipt

1:30:56but I don't know police have their ways

1:30:57don't they I guess so they went to go

1:30:59and speak to Kimberly buyers about how

1:31:01her receipt could have ended up in John

1:31:04Wayne gas's house so she told them that

1:31:07she'd actually borrowed Robert priest

1:31:1015-year-old Robert priest's jacket that

1:31:12day when she was at work she just needed

1:31:14to run outside and grab something and it

1:31:16was quite cold so she chucked on his

1:31:17jacket and then she went inside the

1:31:19store bought something got that receipt

1:31:22put it in the pocket of Robert jacket

1:31:25and then took off the jacket cuz she was

1:31:26done she didn't need it anymore and now

1:31:29police found that jacket and that

1:31:32receipt in John Wayne gase's house and

1:31:35now they knew that it was Robert's

1:31:37jacket suddenly everything was making

1:31:40sense Robert would have been wearing

1:31:42that jacket when he was abducted by gasi

1:31:45that's how it ended up there so they

1:31:46asked Kimberly to try and describe this

1:31:48jacket to them and she gave a

1:31:50description that completely matched this

1:31:52jacket in the house it proved that it

1:31:54was Robert's so they'd found his clothes

1:31:57but there was no sign of Robert at the

1:31:59house at all at this point let me just

1:32:01remind you that John Wayne gasy is still

1:32:03under 24-hour surveillance by police and

1:32:06still no sign of Robert they haven't

1:32:08seen Robert with him or anything like

1:32:10that but gasy himself is displaying some

1:32:13very very weird Behavior he'd pretty

1:32:15much let himself go at this point in

1:32:18time he stopped looking after himself

1:32:20stopped showering personal hygiene

1:32:22completely out the window he was

1:32:23unshaven he wasn't changing his clothes

1:32:26every day he was dirty he was groty he

1:32:28looked tired very very tired as if he

1:32:31wasn't sleeping properly as if he wasn't

1:32:33you know just looking after himself and

1:32:35he was also seen drinking at all

1:32:38different times of day like the

1:32:40surveillance police officers saw him

1:32:42getting drunk most days by December 18th

1:32:451978 gasy had had enough of this

1:32:49constant police surveillance and so he

1:32:51led those surveillance officers on yet

1:32:54another wild goose chase in his car but

1:32:57this time he went to his lawyer's office

1:32:59gasy stormed straight into his lawyer's

1:33:02office and just told him that he

1:33:04couldn't take it anymore the police

1:33:06surveillance was making him so anxious

1:33:09that he wanted to sue them so he and his

1:33:11lawyer sat in that office and drafted up

1:33:14a

1:33:15$750,000 lawsuit that demanded the

1:33:18police stop surveillance immediately

1:33:21little did he know that as he was trying

1:33:23to sort out this lawsuit police were

1:33:26also trying to sort out another search

1:33:29warrant for gas's home so they didn't

1:33:31know but they were like racing against

1:33:34each other to see who could get their

1:33:36thing sorted first cuz whoever was done

1:33:39first won essentially so a court date

1:33:42was set for gase's lawsuit on December

1:33:4522nd in 3 days time from when they

1:33:48drafted the lawsuit so that meant that

1:33:50police had 3 days to get this search

1:33:53warrant sorted and go and search the

1:33:55house it really was a Race Against Time

1:33:57this also meant that they might only

1:33:59have three more days of surveillance

1:34:02they might actually have to stop the the

1:34:0424hour surveillance if this lawsuit goes

1:34:07to plan so the surveillance officers

1:34:09knew that they needed to see something

1:34:11they needed to get something against

1:34:13John way gy quick but how were they

1:34:15going to do that how were they going to

1:34:17cook something out of him the very next

1:34:19day on December 19th John Wayne gy was

1:34:22acting normal again again he seemed to

1:34:24be fine on this particular day he went

1:34:26outside his house started speaking to

1:34:28surveillance officers as he often did

1:34:30and again he invited them into his house

1:34:33for a drink and the surveillance

1:34:35officers always turned him down always

1:34:38always cuz it's just in appropriate for

1:34:40them to go in and have a drink with them

1:34:41but at this point they were desperate

1:34:43they knew they didn't have much time

1:34:45left and they needed to get some

1:34:48information on this man and so on this

1:34:50particular day they were like all right

1:34:53yeah will come in for a drink they were

1:34:55being voluntarily let inside their

1:34:58suspect's home to be fair I feel like it

1:35:00might have been a good idea for them to

1:35:02go in before now but anyway it was like

1:35:04having a free search warrant really

1:35:06wasn't it although they're not really

1:35:07allowed to search suppose they can look

1:35:09with their eyes but anyway they they the

1:35:11police got inside the house anyway so

1:35:13they went and sat in the living room and

1:35:15they were just having just quite an

1:35:17irrelevant chat cuz obviously this

1:35:19wasn't an interview it wasn't a

1:35:20questioning they couldn't really ask him

1:35:21about the murder so they were just

1:35:23asking about like barring irrelevant

1:35:26stuff his job his clown stuff that he

1:35:30does at one point during this

1:35:31conversation one of the officers excused

1:35:33himself and went to the bathroom and you

1:35:35know everything was cool he uh went to

1:35:37the bathroom as one does and then he

1:35:39flushed the toilet and that was when

1:35:42things got weird all of a sudden when

1:35:44the toilet flushed this foul order just

1:35:48filled the room it was as if that flush

1:35:50had like triggered it and this horrid

1:35:52smell just like came out of the toilet

1:35:54but it wasn't like a toilet smell you

1:35:57know what I mean it wasn't like a a

1:35:59bathroom kind of smell in fact the

1:36:02officer knew exactly what that smell was

1:36:05it was the smell of human decomposition

1:36:09and apparently human decomposition is

1:36:12one of those smells that humans just

1:36:14kind of instinctively know I mean this

1:36:17officer had smelt that smell before

1:36:20because he'd worked on homicide cases

1:36:22before but it's supposedly I mean I've

1:36:25never smelled it before myself but it's

1:36:27supposedly one of those smells that you

1:36:28smell it and like instinctively it is

1:36:31built into us to know what that is you

1:36:34know to be able to like protect

1:36:35ourselves or whatever and apparently if

1:36:36you've smelled it before it's one of

1:36:38those smells that you like never forget

1:36:41um and so as soon as this officer smelt

1:36:45human decomposition like taking over the

1:36:48room he knew that they had to crack down

1:36:52on this investigation

1:36:54this was something that they hadn't

1:36:55noticed in the search before because

1:36:58when they went and searched his house

1:36:59and they found that big list of items

1:37:01that I talked about earlier none of the

1:37:03officers had gone to the toilet so no

1:37:05one had flushed the toilet so no one had

1:37:07like triggered this smell in the house

1:37:10but now they were realizing that

1:37:12something must be going on underneath

1:37:15the house you know within within the

1:37:17sewage and the pipes and that you know

1:37:20so once the police officers left gas's

1:37:22house that night this officer raised the

1:37:25alarm with everyone else on the team

1:37:27because he feared that maybe that was

1:37:30the smell of Robert priest's dead body

1:37:33and maybe his body was buried

1:37:36underground somewhere near the toilet

1:37:38and so the flush had like triggered that

1:37:40smell to come up so now that second

1:37:43search warrant that police were trying

1:37:45to get could not come quick enough

1:37:47because now they knew exactly where to

1:37:49look they had a plan once they got that

1:37:52search warrant they were going to go

1:37:54underground under that bathroom because

1:37:56they needed to know where that smell was

1:37:57coming from but the investigation was

1:37:59about to take a very unexpected turn

1:38:03less than 24 hours later the next day

1:38:05was December 20th John Wayne gasey drove

1:38:08himself to his lawyer's office once

1:38:11again on the premise of talking about

1:38:13this lawsuit that they had in the works

1:38:15but when he got there he looked just

1:38:18awful honestly like I said he was

1:38:21disheveled he was unshaven showered he

1:38:24smelled he was in like dirty clothes and

1:38:27as soon as he got to his lawyer's office

1:38:29he asked for an alcoholic drink and I

1:38:32think it was the morning time and this

1:38:34was a request that his lawyer wouldn't

1:38:36usually fulfill he wouldn't usually get

1:38:38his client an alcoholic drink in the

1:38:39middle of the day but looking at Don

1:38:41Wayne gasy he you know he felt like gasy

1:38:44needed one so the lawyer went out to his

1:38:47car he had a bottle of whiskey I think

1:38:49in his car and he brought it back into

1:38:50the office and paed gasy a drink as he

1:38:52was drinking in this glass of whiskey

1:38:54gayy picked up a newspaper that was on

1:38:56his lawyer's desk and on the front page

1:38:59of this newspaper was a big picture of

1:39:02Robert priest with the words missing

1:39:05right above it gy was quite drunk at

1:39:07this point he must have been drinking

1:39:08that morning before he got to the

1:39:09lawyer's office but anyway he was

1:39:11looking at this newspaper looked at this

1:39:13missing poster of Robert priest slammed

1:39:15the newspaper down on the table and just

1:39:17pointed at it and said this boy's dead

1:39:20he's in a river John Wayne gase then

1:39:22went on to tell his lawy a horrific

1:39:24story of Deceit sexual assault abduction

1:39:29murder everything that he had been doing

1:39:31in secret for years that no one knew

1:39:34about in a drunken ha gasy admitted to

1:39:37his lawyer that he had murdered

1:39:39countless teenage boys he described them

1:39:42all as male prostitutes Hustlers Liars

1:39:45he described himself as the judge the

1:39:47jury and executioner of many many people

1:39:51he described how he had sexually

1:39:52assaulted Ed raped and murdered every

1:39:56single one of these teenage boys and

1:39:58then hidden their corpses in the crawl

1:40:01space underneath his house he said that

1:40:04most of his victims were buried in one

1:40:06big Mass grave underneath his home and

1:40:10he'd just been living on top of it for

1:40:12years now but he also told his lawyer

1:40:14that the last five of his victims he

1:40:17couldn't fit in the crawl space he had

1:40:20filled up this Mass grave under his

1:40:22house so the last five of his victims

1:40:25their bodies were in a local River gy

1:40:27described to his lawyer what he called

1:40:30the rope trick where he would supposedly

1:40:32wake up in the morning and find dead

1:40:34strangled kids on the floor of his

1:40:37bedroom but supposedly he wouldn't know

1:40:39how they got there how it happened who

1:40:41the kids were and Midway through this

1:40:43confession to his lawyer John Wayne gasy

1:40:46just passes out passes out he was so

1:40:50drunk that he just he just knocked out

1:40:52and his life is just looking at him like

1:40:54it's clear that the police surveillance

1:40:57that he had been under for so long had

1:41:00really really gotten to him like he was

1:41:02so anxious and stressed about it that he

1:41:04was getting so so drunk to be able to

1:41:07like deal with it as a coping mechanism

1:41:09and it seemed that today he had reached

1:41:11his breaking point he had gotten so

1:41:13drunk that it still wasn't taking the

1:41:16stress away so he had to come and

1:41:18confess all of this to his lawyer well

1:41:20half of it cuz he passed out in the

1:41:22middle so once gasy had passed out of

1:41:24course his lawyer tried to wake him up

1:41:26couldn't wake him up cuz he was proper

1:41:27like well you know when someone passes

1:41:29out from alcohol they're like they're

1:41:30out there's no waking them up so he

1:41:32decided that he was going to let gasy

1:41:34just kind of sleep it off and in the

1:41:37meantime his lawyer called up a doctor a

1:41:39psychiatrist and booked in an assessment

1:41:41for gase first thing in the morning and

1:41:44then the lawyer just sat in his office

1:41:48and waited for gasy to wake up and he

1:41:50was there for hours until the next

1:41:51morning it was literally until the the

1:41:53next day when he finally woke up the

1:41:55next day gasy had no memory of the whole

1:41:58confession that he'd given his lawyer

1:42:00the day before like he couldn't remember

1:42:02anything that he said he didn't even

1:42:03remember how he got to the lawyer's

1:42:05office so now the lawyer had to recount

1:42:09all of gas's confession back to him he

1:42:12had to tell gasy that he had admitted to

1:42:14murdering over 30 different boys and men

1:42:18and when the lawyer told him that gasy

1:42:20just froze he he didn't know how to

1:42:23respond he couldn't believe that he had

1:42:25just admitted all of that to his lawyer

1:42:27he just shook his head and said well I

1:42:29can't think about this right now and

1:42:31then he stood up and left his lawyer's

1:42:33office he knew that the lawyer had

1:42:35booked him a psychiatric assessment cuz

1:42:37he'd already told him when he woke up so

1:42:39gasy knew that he was walking away and

1:42:41leaving this this appointment that had

1:42:43been made but he didn't care he didn't

1:42:45care that the doctor was on his way to

1:42:47the office right now he didn't care he

1:42:49was in a state of panic now after

1:42:51finding out that he had just had

1:42:53committed all of this obviously when

1:42:54gase walked outside of his lawyer's

1:42:56office and got back into his car the

1:42:57surveillance officers were still there

1:42:59they'd been packed outside the lawyer's

1:43:01office all night waiting for gasy to

1:43:03come out so gasy set off driving I think

1:43:05he went to a gas station filled up his

1:43:07car and of course the surveillance

1:43:09officers followed him there watched him

1:43:11the whole time and at this point gasy

1:43:13knew that he had just admitted to all of

1:43:16the murders to his lawyer and he knew it

1:43:18was only a matter of time until that got

1:43:20back to the police the lawyer was not

1:43:22going to keep keep that information to

1:43:24himself there's no chance gy knew that

1:43:27any moment now this could all be over

1:43:29and so he decided that he was going to

1:43:31have a little bit of fun with it while

1:43:33he still could he went to this gas

1:43:35station put the gas in his car and then

1:43:37he went inside the little shop bit to go

1:43:39and pay for it and he just pulled out a

1:43:41bag of weed and gave it to the cashier

1:43:44knowing that the surveillance officers

1:43:46were watching and they could see this

1:43:47but they weren't going to do anything

1:43:49about it because they were supposed to

1:43:50be watching him for murdery things not

1:43:53for not for drugs yeah he just handed it

1:43:55to this young girl behind the counter

1:43:57and just said the end is coming these

1:44:00guys are going to kill me the next thing

1:44:02John wangi did cuz he knew that the end

1:44:04was coming he decided that he was going

1:44:06to go and say all of his goodbyes to

1:44:08everyone that he loved starting with one

1:44:11of his closest and longest friends a man

1:44:13named Ronald Rod he arrived at Ronald's

1:44:16house and just ran straight up to him

1:44:18wrapped his arms around him and gave him

1:44:20the biggest longest hug ever which

1:44:24Ronald found kind of weird because they

1:44:26weren't usually an affectionate pair

1:44:29they didn't hug ever especially not this

1:44:32long immediately as soon as this hug

1:44:34started happening Ronald knew that

1:44:36something big was happening cuz they'

1:44:39never huged like this before something

1:44:40must be going on but he was not

1:44:42expecting what he was about to hear from

1:44:44gasy halfway through this hug gasy just

1:44:47burst into tears hysterical crying he

1:44:51pulled away from the hook and he tried

1:44:53to speak but he could barely get his

1:44:54words out and then he ended up muttering

1:44:56the words I've been a bad boy I killed

1:44:5930 people give or take a few I don't

1:45:01know what Ronald's response to this was

1:45:04I really couldn't find much about this

1:45:05interaction but after that gase went and

1:45:07jumped back in his car and went to his

1:45:09next destination and that next

1:45:11destination might actually surprise you

1:45:13he wanted to go and meet up with his two

1:45:15former Lodgers David crra and Michael

1:45:18Rossy of course the surveillance

1:45:20officers followed him all the way there

1:45:23and they were watching him as he was

1:45:24driving and it looked as though he was

1:45:26like praying he kept grabbing his rosary

1:45:28beads and like holding them close

1:45:30putting them on his chin he seemed like

1:45:32he was praying he was talking the whole

1:45:34time as he was driving of course they

1:45:35couldn't hear what he was saying but he

1:45:37seemed very very distressed like they

1:45:39could tell that he was he was not in a

1:45:41good mental state at this point so yeah

1:45:43gasy went to go and meet David and

1:45:45Michael I don't know where he met them

1:45:47and the surveillance officers really

1:45:49didn't see much of this cuz I think all

1:45:50the men went inside somewhere so they

1:45:52didn't see what happened they didn't

1:45:53hear any conversation but the next thing

1:45:55the surveillance officers saw was all

1:45:57three of the men came out of wherever

1:46:00they were and they jumped into David

1:46:01cram's car this time instead of gase's

1:46:05car so now we'll flip to David's point

1:46:07of view David is the one driving the car

1:46:11gasy demanded actually that David Drive

1:46:14to another one of gas's lawyers offices

1:46:18I think he had like two or three lawyers

1:46:19um and he had a meeting scheduled there

1:46:21so David drove him to the lawyer's

1:46:24office and gasy demanded that the two of

1:46:26them had to wait outside the office for

1:46:28him in that car for when he came back

1:46:30because they then had to drive him

1:46:32somewhere else after that so while gasy

1:46:34was inside his lawyer's office in this

1:46:36appointment David cram got out of the

1:46:38car and went to go and speak to the

1:46:40surveillance officers that had been

1:46:42following gasy for weeks they asked

1:46:44David cram what gasy had been saying

1:46:46when they'd all gone inside that house

1:46:48and of course the officers couldn't hear

1:46:50anything and David crem told them that

1:46:52gasy had just confessed to killing

1:46:55around 30 people the surveillance

1:46:57officers just told David and Michael to

1:46:59get back in the car don't let on to gasy

1:47:02when he comes out of that appointment

1:47:04don't let on that they have said

1:47:05anything to the police just act normal

1:47:08as if nothing just happened as if that

1:47:10conversation between David and the

1:47:12police never happened so gayy totally

1:47:14oblivious comes out of this appointment

1:47:16jumps right back in David's car in the

1:47:18passenger seat and demands that David

1:47:20Drive to the next destination which was

1:47:23a cemetery when he arrived gasy walked

1:47:27to his father's grave and sat beside it

1:47:30and then his behavior started to take a

1:47:33bit of a turn he was talking to himself

1:47:36although it was probably like talking to

1:47:37his father I guess but his voice was

1:47:39getting like louder and louder and more

1:47:42animated more emotional as this um

1:47:45conversation one sided conversation was

1:47:47going on he was getting increasingly

1:47:50more erratic as he was sitting there

1:47:52they could tell tell from just observing

1:47:53it he was clearly still very drunk as

1:47:56well and it was at this point that the

1:47:58surveillance officers started putting

1:48:00pieces together and they started

1:48:02realizing what gasy was doing that he

1:48:04was saying his final goodbyes to

1:48:06everyone that he loved to his friend and

1:48:08now to David and Michael and now to his

1:48:11father's grave so now the officers are

1:48:13thinking well why might he be saying his

1:48:15final goodbyes is it because he's about

1:48:18to take his own life they knew they had

1:48:20to do something if that was the way that

1:48:22it was going they needed to do something

1:48:24before gasey could kill himself and so

1:48:27they called the police back at the

1:48:29station their higher ups and they

1:48:31basically told them the situation look

1:48:32we think gayy is on a suicide mission

1:48:35right now he's saying his goodbyes he

1:48:37might kill himself before the end of the

1:48:38day what do we do and the hups told them

1:48:41to just go in and arrest him because

1:48:43they can't risk him killing himself they

1:48:45need to arrest him for the murders that

1:48:47they believe that he is responsible for

1:48:49luckily for the surveillance officers

1:48:52because they seen him handing the weed

1:48:54to that uh gas station cashier earlier

1:48:57in the day they had an excuse to arrest

1:48:59him that was completely separate to the

1:49:00murders they could arrest him on this

1:49:02drug charge get him down to the police

1:49:05station where he would then be under

1:49:07constant surveillance so he wouldn't be

1:49:08able to kill himself perfect actually

1:49:10this was like the best case scenario

1:49:12because that meant that he wasn't under

1:49:14police surveillance so the lawsuit

1:49:16didn't matter anymore and then by the

1:49:18time they would be able to search his

1:49:20house and hopefully get evidence to be

1:49:22able to to arrest him for the murders

1:49:24they'd know exactly where he was he'd be

1:49:25in the police station easy ass so that's

1:49:27exactly what they did the surveillance

1:49:29officers moved in and arrested John

1:49:31Wayne gasi for the drug charge whatever

1:49:34they took him back to the police station

1:49:35he was in police custody and later that

1:49:38day police went to go and speak to him

1:49:40in his holding cell they told them that

1:49:42they had been given the search warrant

1:49:44and they were about to go and search his

1:49:45house for a second time and that they

1:49:48knew about his crawl spaces and they

1:49:51would be searching his crawl bases they

1:49:53even told him that they expected to find

1:49:56the dead body of 15-year-old Robert

1:49:58priest under his house so they were

1:50:00preparing gy for what they were about to

1:50:02find but his response kind of shocked

1:50:06them he turned to them and he said

1:50:07you're not going to find Robert's body

1:50:09under there but you will find another

1:50:10boy he said that he had killed a young

1:50:13boy by accident many many years ago and

1:50:16it was in self-defense right and he

1:50:19panicked because he didn't want to get

1:50:21caught for killing the child and so he

1:50:23buried the body underneath his garage

1:50:26and then like concreted over it and put

1:50:28the garage over it so that the body

1:50:30could never be found police didn't

1:50:31really buy this story but I mean it

1:50:34didn't really matter anywhere because he

1:50:36had confessed to multiple people that he

1:50:38had murdered like 30 people they had so

1:50:41many different people coming to police

1:50:43being like uh John way gas's just told

1:50:45me he's killed 30 people do something

1:50:46the lawyer knew David cram Michael Rossy

1:50:50Ronald rhods so many people have had

1:50:52heard this story from John Wayne gasy at

1:50:54this point that why would they believe

1:50:56him why would they believe that he

1:50:57killed one kid in self-defense years ago

1:51:00I I don't know whatever so anyway they

1:51:02go and they search John Wayne gas's

1:51:04house but it seemed that gasey had tried

1:51:08to put a couple of obstacles in the way

1:51:10to prevent this search from going ahead

1:51:12gy had unplugged his sump pump which

1:51:16basically it's a pump that removes water

1:51:20from an area that has no natural

1:51:22drainage aka the crawl space it had a

1:51:25sump pump in it so that it wouldn't get

1:51:27flooded with water gasey knew that

1:51:30police would likely be trying to search

1:51:32that crawl space at some point and so

1:51:34he'd unplug this to make it harder for

1:51:36them to get in there and search a clever

1:51:38little trick from gasy clever clever

1:51:40clever but not clever enough because all

1:51:42police needed to do was plug it back in

1:51:45then it had drain all the water again

1:51:47literally it put them out for about 2 3

1:51:50hours they plugged it back in waited a

1:51:52couple of hours for it to drain the

1:51:54water again and then they were good to

1:51:55go they could go in the crawl space and

1:51:58they could search in the meantime as

1:52:00that so they'd pluged this pump back in

1:52:02yeah it's draining draining draining in

1:52:03the meantime they searched the rest of

1:52:04the house they were looking for any

1:52:06other evidence that could connect gasy

1:52:08to any of the victims or any evidence

1:52:11that murders had taken place inside that

1:52:13house but they didn't find like anything

1:52:16they they couldn't find anything they'd

1:52:18already found a lot in the first search

1:52:20to be honest they'd found like you know

1:52:22the ring and different items of clothing

1:52:25that didn't belong to gase they pretty

1:52:26much found everything that they were

1:52:27going to find in the actual house itself

1:52:30but they didn't lose hope because they

1:52:32knew that they were about to find

1:52:33something under that house they didn't

1:52:34know what but they knew that there was

1:52:37going to be something there so a few

1:52:38hours later once the crawl space was

1:52:40fully fully drained they sent in

1:52:42evidence technician Daniel Gentry he was

1:52:45the first person to go in there just him

1:52:48all by himself he went in and the first

1:52:51thing he did was measure the crawl space

1:52:53it measured 9 by 11 meters and this 9 by

1:52:5711 meter space that he was in seemed

1:53:01empty like it it was literally just like

1:53:03a mud room like it was an empty room so

1:53:07Daniel took a shovel in there and he

1:53:09went to the to the furthest corner of

1:53:12the crawl space that he possibly could

1:53:14and he started digging within just a

1:53:16couple of minutes of digging in that

1:53:18crawl space Daniel uncovered a petrified

1:53:22human arm with a born sticking out of it

1:53:26and it was quite a small arm as well

1:53:29suggesting that it could be a child

1:53:31Daniel shouted to the rest of the team

1:53:33who were still upstairs outside of the

1:53:35crawl space and he told them immediately

1:53:37to go and arrest John Wayne gasy he said

1:53:40I think this place is full of kids the

1:53:42next person to enter the crawl space

1:53:44along with Daniel was a police

1:53:46photographer of course he was there to

1:53:48take pictures but also to help out with

1:53:50the digging So Daniel was in one corner

1:53:53and the photographer started digging in

1:53:55the opposite corner and again within

1:53:57minutes of digging the photographer hit

1:54:00a bone it was a small human knee bone a

1:54:04patella and what was most worrying about

1:54:06this discovery was that both of these

1:54:08men had found human remains on opposite

1:54:12ends of the crawl space suggesting that

1:54:15maybe the whole thing was just full of

1:54:18human remains wall to- wall and these

1:54:20remains that the men found were pretty

1:54:22much just bones like the the bodies had

1:54:25completely decomposed and decomposition

1:54:28to this level can sometimes take years

1:54:32so how long had these bodies been there

1:54:35how long had John Wayne gasy been

1:54:37murdering for quickly following the last

1:54:40two discoveries The Searchers found a

1:54:43skull a human skull and then just

1:54:45underneath that another human skull

1:54:48buried just a couple of feet below which

1:54:50also suggested that not only was the

1:54:52crawl space full wall to--all with

1:54:54bodies but they were also stacked on top

1:54:57of each other as well police knew that

1:54:59separating the victim's remains from

1:55:01each other was going to be one hell of a

1:55:04task because like I said they were

1:55:05pretty much all fully decomposed just

1:55:08bones and they were all buried so close

1:55:11to one another that the bones were kind

1:55:13of intertwined it was hard to tell what

1:55:16bones belonged to what body it was

1:55:18genuinely like something out of a horror

1:55:20film all of these police officers on

1:55:22this case had never experienced anything

1:55:25like it in their careers it was just

1:55:27kids bodies one on top of another in

1:55:29this Mass grave underneath this man's

1:55:31home completely decomposed all their

1:55:34bones intertwined it was awful so as

1:55:37these searches continued at the house

1:55:39and as they kept digging and discovering

1:55:41more BS back at the police station they

1:55:45decided to let gasey know what they'd

1:55:48found they pulled him into an interview

1:55:50room and they basically said there still

1:55:52digging at your house right now but

1:55:54already so far we have found BS from

1:55:57multiple different bodies you are

1:55:58looking at multiple murder charges but

1:56:01gas's response once again shocked them

1:56:04he was always doing these quite like

1:56:06unexpected little moments he just turned

1:56:08to them and he said I knew this was

1:56:10coming and he said that he was ready to

1:56:12clear the air he actually seemed really

1:56:14unbothered by this whole thing by police

1:56:17telling him this like The Jig was up but

1:56:19he didn't really care in fact it was

1:56:21almost as if it was a bit of a relief to

1:56:23him because well I don't know this had

1:56:25been weighting on him for a very long

1:56:27time he did seem very very stressed

1:56:29probably more with the police

1:56:31surveillance but still I think he was

1:56:33just glad that he didn't really have to

1:56:35keep this secret anymore so in the early

1:56:37hours of December 22nd 1978 John Wayne

1:56:41gy sat in an interview room and gave

1:56:44police a full confession of every single

1:56:47one of his murders all the details that

1:56:49he could remember anywhere from start to

1:56:52finish over the last 6 years gasy

1:56:55claimed to have killed upwards of 30

1:56:57different people from so many different

1:56:59places including Chicago Lombard Uptown

1:57:03Lake View Bensonville the near North

1:57:06Side I think those are all places in

1:57:08Illinois he also claimed to have

1:57:09abducted boys from Kalamazoo in Michigan

1:57:12and Hammond in Indiana I don't know when

1:57:14he was in those specific places but

1:57:16while he was giving his confession to

1:57:18the police and I'm going to like talk

1:57:20you through the whole confession but as

1:57:22he was doing it he couldn't remember

1:57:24barely any of the names of his victims

1:57:26although in the aftermath police did

1:57:29manage to piece most of it together

1:57:31using different identification methods

1:57:33so I am going to include all the names

1:57:35that I can even where gasy didn't in his

1:57:39confession so just keep that in mind

1:57:40that he actually couldn't name most of

1:57:44these murder victims that we're about to

1:57:45talk about and sadly even still today in

1:57:492022 there are five of John Wayne gas's

1:57:52victims that are still not identified

1:57:54they've never been identified so let's

1:57:56go right back to the start shall we to

1:57:59John Wayne gas's first ever murder that

1:58:02he committed almost 7 years before he

1:58:05sat and made this confession it took

1:58:07place on January 3rd 1972 at the time he

1:58:11had just gotten married to his second

1:58:13wife Carol and Carol and her two

1:58:15daughters had moved into his Farmhouse

1:58:17everything was going well but on January

1:58:192nd gee had been out at a family party I

1:58:23believe but without Carol and her kids I

1:58:25don't know where Carol and the kids were

1:58:26but gasy was at this party alone and

1:58:29then that night he was driving home

1:58:31alone well actually it was more the

1:58:33early hours of the morning gasey was

1:58:34driving through Chicago when he passed

1:58:37the bus station and he saw a young boy

1:58:39sitting outside the closed bus station

1:58:42all alone in the cold it was January it

1:58:44was freezing Chicago gets so so cold in

1:58:47January this young boy that was sat

1:58:49outside the bus station was 16-year-old

1:58:51Timothy Jack mcco although as gasy was

1:58:54telling this story he couldn't remember

1:58:56the boy's name or the boy's age he

1:58:58simply referred to him as the Grayhound

1:59:00bus boy Timothy had been in Michigan

1:59:03over Christmas and now that Christmas

1:59:04was over he was on his way back home to

1:59:06Nevada but his bus wasn't until the next

1:59:09morning and the bus station wasn't open

1:59:11overnight and so he just had to wait

1:59:13outside in the freezing cold until the

1:59:15next morning when he could catch his bus

1:59:17and when I say cold I mean cold like

1:59:19Chicago gets into like minus temp riches

1:59:22in the winter it was dangerous for

1:59:25Timothy to be sat outside in the cold

1:59:26for so long but Timothy had no other

1:59:28choice he had nowhere else to go and

1:59:31gasey told the police that seeing

1:59:33Timothy sitting outside that bus station

1:59:35it really tugged on his heartstrings

1:59:37what heartstrings but anyway really

1:59:39tugged on his heartstrings I think we

1:59:40all know the real reason gase was

1:59:43interested in this boy it wasn't because

1:59:45he wanted to help him was it but gy

1:59:48pulled over his car and went to go and

1:59:50speak with Timothy for a little a while

1:59:52he found out that Timothy was waiting

1:59:54for his bus and it wasn't going to be

1:59:56there until morning and so gasy offered

1:59:58a solution to get him out of the cold

2:00:00until his bus arrived he said that he

2:00:02would take him on a driving tour of

2:00:04Chicago show him around the city he

2:00:07could sit in this nice warm car they

2:00:09could kill a few hours until he could

2:00:12then bring him back to the bus station

2:00:13so that he could catch his bus in the

2:00:15morning and Timothy was hardly in a

2:00:17position to turn down this offer like I

2:00:19said it was dangerous for him to be

2:00:21outside in such cold temperatures and so

2:00:23he agreed he jumped in this stranger's

2:00:26car and just drove around with him for

2:00:28hours so gase took him to all the

2:00:30touristy spots I don't know what I don't

2:00:33know what's in Chicago I don't know they

2:00:34drove around for ages they ticked off

2:00:36all the touristy things the two of them

2:00:38were chatting they were getting to know

2:00:39each other and once they'd kind of seen

2:00:42everything what what else is there to do

2:00:44what do they do now gasy didn't want to

2:00:46just take him back to the bus station he

2:00:49didn't want to leave this boy he'd

2:00:50really taken a l to him as they'd been

2:00:52chatting for hours and so he turned to

2:00:54Timothy and he offered him a place to

2:00:56stay for the night he said he would take

2:00:58him back home he had a spare bedroom

2:01:00that he could stay in and then in the

2:01:02morning he could drop him back off at

2:01:04the bus station in time for him to catch

2:01:06the bus so Timothy was over the moon

2:01:08with this and by now he felt that he

2:01:10could trust this man cuz they'd been

2:01:12talking for hours and he hadn't done

2:01:14anything weird yet so Timothy accepted

2:01:17he went back to gas's house and he

2:01:19stayed in the spare bedroom so gasey

2:01:21told the police that he took Timothy

2:01:23back home set him up in the spare

2:01:24bedroom and then he himself gy went to

2:01:28sleep in his normal bed with his wife as

2:01:31usual the next morning gasy says he woke

2:01:34up to see Timothy standing in his

2:01:37doorway looking really angry and holding

2:01:41a huge kitchen knife in his hand gasy

2:01:44was immediately struck with fear this

2:01:47like fight or flight kicked in and he

2:01:49jumped straight out of bed and went to

2:01:51try and knock the knife out of Timothy's

2:01:53hand but in doing so he actually like

2:01:56slashed his arm and actually gasy still

2:01:58had this scar on his arm he showed the

2:02:01police this scar on his arm that backed

2:02:02up the story so now gasy says that he

2:02:05has just been slashed by this kid

2:02:08holding a knife and so now he has to go

2:02:10into self-defense mode he starts

2:02:12fighting for his life thinking that if

2:02:14he doesn't Timothy's going to kill him

2:02:16with this knife and so gasy starts

2:02:18punching him kicking him pushing him

2:02:19trying to get him on the floor whatever

2:02:21Casey said that he managed to push

2:02:23Timothy into a wardrobe and like close

2:02:27the door but then Timothy managed to

2:02:29kick open the Wardrobe this sounds like

2:02:30a scene out of a film and now gasey

2:02:33flies into a fit of rage he said he

2:02:36shouted at Timothy saying mother [ __ ]

2:02:38I'll kill you before wrestling him to

2:02:40the ground grabbing the knife and

2:02:43stabbing him frenzied stabbing this

2:02:4616-year-old boy he just kept going and

2:02:49going and going this all this adrenaline

2:02:51like flowing through his body until

2:02:53eventually he calmed down he got off of

2:02:56Timothy and he' killed him he had killed

2:02:59this boy well actually he was almost

2:03:02dead gasy said that he then laid down

2:03:05next to Timothy's body and just listened

2:03:08to the gurgul he called them which was

2:03:12Timothy trying to breathe but goggling

2:03:15on his own blood so up until this point

2:03:18gasy said that it had all been quite

2:03:20self-defensive

2:03:21you know he said he flew off the handle

2:03:23towards the end but that's because

2:03:25Timothy was fighting him he said that

2:03:27the way that this altercation started

2:03:30Timothy was the one angry holding the

2:03:32knife and gasy was the one acting in

2:03:34self-defense right based on the story

2:03:37that he just told he doesn't seem like a

2:03:39cold-blooded killer does he that was

2:03:42until one comment that he made towards

2:03:45the end of the story gy said that as he

2:03:47was laying there listening to the ggul

2:03:50he said he really enjoyed listening to

2:03:52Timothy dying listening to him gasping

2:03:55for breath so much so that gasy then

2:03:58described how he climbed up on top of

2:04:01Timothy and had a mind numbing orgasm he

2:04:05ejaculated over Timothy's body as he L

2:04:09dying and then he said that's when I

2:04:12realized that death was the ultimate

2:04:14thrill once he was done gasy then

2:04:17grabbed the knife took it to the

2:04:19bathroom washed the blood off of it and

2:04:21and then took it back to the kitchen

2:04:23where he was going to put it back in the

2:04:24drawer but as he walked into the kitchen

2:04:27his heart dropped when he realized the

2:04:30real situation that had just happened in

2:04:33the kitchen laid out on the side were

2:04:36loads of different components to be able

2:04:38to make breakfast there were two plates

2:04:41two sets of Cutlery um a carton of eggs

2:04:44there was an uncut ham joint whatever

2:04:47and that was when gasy realized that

2:04:49Timothy hadn't been trying to kill

2:04:51anyone when he was holding that knife it

2:04:54was because he'd come to gas's bedroom

2:04:56in the middle of making him breakfast

2:04:58probably as a thank you for letting him

2:05:00stay over but gasy had taken it the

2:05:03wrong way thought that Timothy was about

2:05:05to kill him and instead murdered him in

2:05:08self-defense but it didn't matter what

2:05:11the situation was gasy was now a

2:05:14murderer and he had a dead body laying

2:05:16on his bedroom floor a dead body that he

2:05:19knew he needed to get rid of otherwise

2:05:20he'd be in big trouble so he spent the

2:05:23rest of the day burying Timothy's body

2:05:26on his land he then poured concrete over

2:05:29the top of it so that no one would ever

2:05:30be able to get to that body and like I

2:05:32said that concrete is what became the

2:05:34foundations of the garage that he would

2:05:37later build and would actually later use

2:05:39as a place to murder more boys so after

2:05:42this first murder you'd expect him to

2:05:45keep going wouldn't you you know

2:05:47especially with the way that he talked

2:05:48about it especially with the aftermath

2:05:50of the murder you know know realizing

2:05:52that death was the ultimate thrill it

2:05:54seemed like he really enjoyed himself

2:05:56but actually John Wayne gasy had a

2:05:582-year cooling off period he murdered

2:06:01this boy and then he was too scared to

2:06:03do it again for a while his second

2:06:04murder victim came 2 years later in

2:06:07January of

2:06:081974 however this second victim is one

2:06:11of those that is unfortunately still

2:06:13unidentified today so we don't have a

2:06:15name gy told the police that he

2:06:17strangled this second boy with a rope

2:06:20and then stared the dead body this boy's

2:06:23corpse in his wardrobe right next to the

2:06:26bed that he slept in with his wife it

2:06:29was there for days and his wife had no

2:06:31idea gy said that he just didn't really

2:06:33know what to do with the body he didn't

2:06:35know what to do he didn't know where to

2:06:37put it he didn't know what he was going

2:06:38to do so he was just staring it in the

2:06:40wardrobe for the time being until he

2:06:42decided something but the decomposition

2:06:44process began very quickly as expected

2:06:47and within a few days a foul smell was

2:06:50filling their bedroom room although his

2:06:52wife didn't actually seem to notice or

2:06:54she didn't seem too bothered by it

2:06:55anyway but then gasy realized that the

2:06:58body was leaking fluids out of his nose

2:07:03and his mouth and actually it was like

2:07:05leaking out onto the carpet staying in

2:07:07the carpet it was causing a horrid smell

2:07:09gy knew that he needed to do something

2:07:11about this and this was when he started

2:07:14getting David cram to dig out the crawl

2:07:17space underneath their house he dug it

2:07:19all out and eventually gasy moved the

2:07:22body from the Wardrobe into the crawl

2:07:24space this was the first body in that

2:07:27crawl space and he actually made a

2:07:29comment to police as he was giving this

2:07:31whole confession he told police that

2:07:33he'd learned his lesson from this second

2:07:35murder he knew what he needed to do

2:07:37differently next time you know because

2:07:39the bodily fluids leaking out of this

2:07:41guy he said that from this point on with

2:07:44most of his future victims if he knew

2:07:46that he was going to have to store the

2:07:47body for a few days before he could bury

2:07:49it he would always stuff them mouth or

2:07:52like their orifices with Rags or with

2:07:55underwear or with cloth or anything to

2:07:57stop the leaking his third murder would

2:08:00come about a year and a half later and

2:08:03the momentum of gas's murders is so so

2:08:06interesting to me his first few are like

2:08:09years apart from each other he seems

2:08:11like too scared to do it again after the

2:08:14first few but then after a while there's

2:08:16only like a week between some of his

2:08:18later victims he was like on a roll

2:08:20towards the end it's like towards the

2:08:23end he got addicted to killing he

2:08:25couldn't go more than a week without

2:08:27doing it he had like this urge to do it

2:08:30sometimes there were only days between

2:08:31his later victims so yeah the third of

2:08:34his victims was actually one of gas's

2:08:36own employees he was an 18-year-old boy

2:08:40named John bovich on July 30th

2:08:431975 gasy was 2 weeks late paying John

2:08:47and so JN approached him to bring this

2:08:50up very politely very calmly and so gasy

2:08:53invited John into his car and they could

2:08:56talk about the money situation as he

2:08:58drove him home so John did jumped in the

2:09:01car and the two of them drove to gas's

2:09:04house when they arrived gasy invited

2:09:06John in for a drink or two which he

2:09:09accepted he came inside and the two of

2:09:11them ended up getting absolutely wasted

2:09:13like they had way more than two drinks

2:09:15and once gasy was sure that John was

2:09:18super super drunk he told him about this

2:09:20magic trick that he knew he knew how to

2:09:24get out of a pair of handcuffs by Magic

2:09:26you know without without using a key so

2:09:28he demonstrated this to John he put the

2:09:31handcuffs on behind his back he wriggled

2:09:33around for a little while and then all

2:09:35of a sudden ah he's out is it's magic he

2:09:38tells John that he can teach him how to

2:09:39do this and John's like hell yeah I want

2:09:41to know how to how to get out of

2:09:43handcuffs as if by Magic so gasey goes

2:09:45and puts the handcuffs on John behind

2:09:48his back so now he's all cuffed up and

2:09:50then gase reveals that there was no

2:09:53magic trick in fact the magic trick was

2:09:56him using the key to get out of the

2:09:59handcuffs he had the key in his pocket

2:10:01he'd undone them behind his back and now

2:10:04there was no way for johon to get out of

2:10:06those handcuffs that gasy had just put

2:10:07him in it was all just a trick to get

2:10:10John bovich into those handcuffs so that

2:10:13he wouldn't be able to defend himself

2:10:15from what gasy was about to do gasy

2:10:17pushed John bovich onto the floor and

2:10:20sat on his his chest for a while I

2:10:23actually think that gasey thought that

2:10:25this could kill him because gasy was

2:10:27quite a big heavy guy and so I think he

2:10:30thought that just sitting on this guy's

2:10:32chest for a while might suffocate him

2:10:33but it wasn't it wasn't working or even

2:10:36if it might have worked it was going to

2:10:37take too long gasy was getting impatient

2:10:40so whilst still sitting on Jon's chest

2:10:43gasy then took his hands pressed them

2:10:45against John's neck and strangled him to

2:10:48death once he finished the job gayy then

2:10:51dragged Jon's body to the garage well

2:10:54almost to the garage but then he was

2:10:56interrupted his wife Carol and her two

2:10:59daughters had been out that evening

2:11:01hence why he was able to have johon

2:11:03round at the house and and do all this

2:11:05without his wife knowing but they had

2:11:06just arrived home just as gasy was

2:11:09dragging the body to the garage and

2:11:11suddenly he just started panicking he

2:11:13knew that he couldn't let Carol or her

2:11:15daughters see this corpse that he was

2:11:17dragging around the garden he needed to

2:11:19hide it quick and so he literally just

2:11:22shoved it in this Hall that had been dug

2:11:24underneath the garage this wasn't

2:11:26supposed to be a permanent place for the

2:11:27body just uh for the time being place

2:11:30just to get it out of sight and he would

2:11:32deal with it properly later I think the

2:11:34hall was actually supposed to be for

2:11:35like drainage purposes or something but

2:11:37right now it was the perfect makeshift

2:11:39grave for his third victim after John

2:11:42bovich disappeared of course he never

2:11:44returned home from work that night and

2:11:46his parents were really worried so they

2:11:48reported him missing to the police and

2:11:50of course John Wayne gasy was one of the

2:11:52first people to be interviewed because

2:11:54John was at work that day so maybe his

2:11:56boss knew where he was no one actually

2:11:59suspected foul play at this point in

2:12:01time not police not his parents you know

2:12:04people thought that John bovich had just

2:12:06run away and so they thought that gasy

2:12:09might know something maybe John had been

2:12:10talking about where he was going to run

2:12:12away to or something like that gayy just

2:12:13told police that he didn't really know

2:12:15anything he didn't know John very well

2:12:17he didn't deal with him very often he

2:12:19was quite a low down employee and

2:12:20obviously was right at the top so they

2:12:22didn't communicate all that much but

2:12:24then a few days later JN bovich his car

2:12:27was found abandoned with his keys and

2:12:30his wallet still inside so now his

2:12:33parents are thinking well he can't have

2:12:35run away why would he leave all of his

2:12:36stuff if he's run away something bad

2:12:39must have happened to John because he

2:12:41can't be alive somewhere and and living

2:12:43somewhere without money or without his

2:12:46things his parents started to think that

2:12:48John must be dead but who could have

2:12:51done it to him and that was when they

2:12:53remembered a conversation that they had

2:12:55had with their son's boss John Wayne

2:12:57gasy the day after John went missing

2:13:00they' asked him if he'd seen John on the

2:13:02day that he disappeared and gasy

2:13:04actually said yes he admitted that he

2:13:06had been the last person to see John on

2:13:09the day that he left work for the very

2:13:10last time and in fact he'd been very

2:13:12honest about the conversation that

2:13:14they'd had that he was lay on his

2:13:16payments and that johon had to confront

2:13:18him about it they had a friendly polite

2:13:20calm conversation ation gasy agreed to

2:13:22pay him gasy assured John's parents that

2:13:25the conversation ended well he promised

2:13:27to pay him there was no bad energy no

2:13:29lingering like negativity there but his

2:13:32parents just didn't believe it they

2:13:34didn't believe gy they were suspicious

2:13:36of him they were suspicious of their

2:13:37son's boss and they made it no a secret

2:13:40they asked police time and time again to

2:13:42look into this man because they knew

2:13:44something was going on they just knew it

2:13:45police did speak to gasy a few times in

2:13:49relation to The Disappearance but

2:13:50overall police didn't believe it they

2:13:52believed in The Runaway Theory they

2:13:54believed that johon was out there he

2:13:56wanted to run away he didn't want to be

2:13:58found and So eventually they just kind

2:14:00of dropped it and it was after this

2:14:02third murder that gasy decided that he

2:14:04no longer wanted to have sex with his

2:14:06wife Carol um that was when he kind of

2:14:08realized that he just wasn't interested

2:14:09in women he was only interested in

2:14:11teenage boys um and so he ended the

2:14:14sexual part of the relationship with his

2:14:16wife and this is important because gy

2:14:18said that once he stopped having sex

2:14:21with his wife it was now in 1975 that he

2:14:25started having sex with young teenage

2:14:27boys exclusively gy referred to this as

2:14:30cruising where he would go out in his

2:14:33car he would drive around Chicago

2:14:35looking for young teenage men usually

2:14:38prostitutes and he would pick them up

2:14:41and bring them back to his garage for

2:14:43sex and if you remember that's what led

2:14:45to his divorce from his wife Carol was

2:14:48her catching him going into this garage

2:14:50time and time again with different young

2:14:52boys but once their divorce was

2:14:54finalized once Carol was out of the

2:14:56house her and her daughters were out of

2:14:58the house and gasy had the whole thing

2:14:59to himself this only accelerated his

2:15:02crimes now that he had way more privacy

2:15:06and he didn't have anyone to catch him

2:15:08he could take advantage of so many more

2:15:11boys so as I'm sure you can imagine the

2:15:13speed at which his murders happened

2:15:15accelerated horrendously at this point

2:15:18in time up until now his murders had

2:15:20been at at least a year apart from each

2:15:22other sometimes two years sometimes a

2:15:24year and a half but now the next 30 out

2:15:27of 33 murders took place over the next

2:15:30two years he did 30 in the space of two

2:15:34years from 1976 to 1978 it's hard to

2:15:37believe that over 2 years someone can

2:15:40murder 30 plus young men and no one no

2:15:45one notices no one no one even suspects

2:15:48anything but actually it turns out that

2:15:50the neighbors did see and hear some

2:15:54suspicious stuff but they never really

2:15:56thought of it as suspicious at the time

2:15:58they never really put two and two

2:15:59together cuz to be honest there was no

2:16:02two and two to put together let's

2:16:03remember how respected John Wayne gasy

2:16:06was in that Community everyone loved him

2:16:09so when these weird little things would

2:16:11happen tiny little suspicious things

2:16:13people would talk themselves out of it

2:16:14thinking like oh no John way and Casey

2:16:16had never be up to anything weird he's

2:16:18he's an angel but yeah neighbors did

2:16:20know noticed that once Carol left John

2:16:24Wayne gas's Behavior changed quite a lot

2:16:27he suddenly became quite like stressed

2:16:29um and and erratic he was seen leaving

2:16:32the house late at night he was seen

2:16:34returning in the early hours of the

2:16:36morning he suddenly seemed to have no

2:16:38routine no like schedule he was just

2:16:42doing weird things weird times and this

2:16:45was quite out of character for gasy

2:16:47because he was quite a hard worker up

2:16:50until like

2:16:51he started like murdering a lot but yeah

2:16:53he used to work like 15 hour days didn't

2:16:55he he was he was a grafter he had a

2:16:57solid routine but it seemed at this

2:16:59point all of that went out of the window

2:17:01and he just started acting completely

2:17:03different neighbors said that they would

2:17:05see the lights turning on and off in

2:17:07gase's house at like weird times of

2:17:09night middle of the night like the

2:17:11living room light would be on at like

2:17:122:00 a.m. but again they didn't really

2:17:14think much of it cuz it seemed that he

2:17:16had a really weird like schedule these

2:17:18days and actually a lot of the neighbors

2:17:20did see him returning to the house with

2:17:22young boys at weird times of night but

2:17:24again they dismissed it in their head

2:17:26they just kind of thought that it was

2:17:27probably his young employees or whatever

2:17:29I don't know they came up with a lot of

2:17:31excuses for gasy just on his behalf just

2:17:34cuz he was a good guy but here's the

2:17:36kicker right and this is the one that I

2:17:38can't believe was never reported some

2:17:41neighbors reported hearing muffled

2:17:43screams coming from John Wayne gas's

2:17:45house in the middle of the night and

2:17:47sometimes they would be so loud that

2:17:49they would wake the neighbors and and

2:17:50their children in the middle of the

2:17:52night yet no one reported anything why

2:17:54and this happened on a few occasions

2:17:56this wasn't a one-off thing like this

2:17:58happened multiple times they would be

2:18:00awoken to screams coming from John Wayne

2:18:02gas's house which is so hard to believe

2:18:05that they didn't report anything I don't

2:18:07know why they didn't report anything I

2:18:08feel like if this had been in 2022 that

2:18:11would have been reported hopefully if

2:18:13you ever hear anything like that please

2:18:14report it Jesus so anyway Gay's fourth

2:18:17murder took place about a month after

2:18:20his divorce was finalized and he went

2:18:22out that night specifically looking for

2:18:26a young man to lure in to rip and to

2:18:29murder he went out looking specifically

2:18:32for his next victim he drove around for

2:18:34a while until he saw 18-year-old Daryl

2:18:37Samson on the side of the road he pulled

2:18:40over got talking to Daryl don't know

2:18:42what the conversation was about but

2:18:43somehow he managed to get Daryl

2:18:45voluntarily to get into his car and come

2:18:48home with him but gasy did the exact

2:18:50same thing to darl as he had to his

2:18:52previous victims he murdered him and

2:18:55actually this time he stuffed a rag down

2:18:58his throat to avoid any leakages he had

2:19:01learned from his previous mistakes he

2:19:03buried the body underneath his house in

2:19:05the crawl space and exactly a month

2:19:07later he was out looking for his next

2:19:09victim it was May 14th 1976 when

2:19:1215-year-old Randall Reit went missing on

2:19:16his way home from school he was walking

2:19:17home from school and just never made it

2:19:19home then just a few few hours later

2:19:22another young boy went missing from that

2:19:24same area this time it was 14-year-old

2:19:27Sam Stapleton and gasey claimed

2:19:29responsibility for both of these

2:19:32abductions he said that he abducted them

2:19:34both separately picked them up off the

2:19:36side of the road and drove them back to

2:19:38his house where he raped and murdered

2:19:40them he saved both of the bodies and

2:19:43then ended up burying them together next

2:19:46to each other in the crawl space so

2:19:49already his murders are picking up at an

2:19:51alarming rate two in one day just 3

2:19:53weeks later on June 3rd gasy claimed his

2:19:57seventh murder victim this time it was

2:19:5917-year-old Michael bonnin Michael was

2:20:02strangled to death with a ligature and

2:20:04then gasi actually buried him under the

2:20:06floorboards of his spare bedroom not

2:20:08sure why he didn't put this one in the

2:20:10crawl space but the spare bedroom is

2:20:13where he would let his Lodgers sleep and

2:20:16sometimes his victims would sleep in

2:20:17there for a few hours before he would

2:20:19murder them so little did David cram

2:20:21know Michael Rossy knew that they were

2:20:23sleeping on top of a dead body under the

2:20:27flow boards and the murders picked up

2:20:29once again he was about to claim four

2:20:31more victims in the next 6 weeks his

2:20:34eighth victim was 16-year-old William

2:20:36Carol we don't know too much about this

2:20:38one other than he was strangled and

2:20:40buried in the crawl space his ninth

2:20:43victim was 16-year-old James harkinson

2:20:46and the last time James was heard from

2:20:48was actually a mysterious phone call

2:20:50that he he made to his parents although

2:20:52I don't think he said anything in this

2:20:54phone call and then the line cut out and

2:20:56it's believed that he made this phone

2:20:58call from gas's house maybe he was

2:21:00trying to get help and the very next day

2:21:02after that last murder gasy struck again

2:21:05his 10th killing was on August 6th 1976

2:21:09this time it was a 17-year-old boy named

2:21:12Rick Johnston and again we don't know

2:21:14much about the details of this one

2:21:16although he was killed and buried in the

2:21:18exact same way as the majority of gas's

2:21:21victims his next three victims so 11 12

2:21:24and 13 unfortunately have never been

2:21:27identified although they were murdered

2:21:29between August and October of 1976 one

2:21:32of these unidentified bodies is actually

2:21:35believed to be g's oldest victim of

2:21:38course because by the time the body was

2:21:40found it was practically just a skeleton

2:21:42they don't know exactly how old this man

2:21:44was but his age has been estimated

2:21:46between 23 and 30 years old but knowing

2:21:49John Wayne AC I think it's safe to say

2:21:52his age was probably on the lower end of

2:21:54that scale victims 14 and 15 were

2:21:57actually two friends that John Wayne

2:22:00gasy abducted and murdered at the same

2:22:03time these were 16-year-old Kenneth

2:22:05Parker and 14-year-old Michael Marino

2:22:08two days after that gasy then murdered

2:22:11another one of his own employees this

2:22:13time it was 19-year-old William Bundy he

2:22:16went missing after telling his parents

2:22:18that he was going to a party that night

2:22:20and I I don't know if this was a cover

2:22:21story or if gasy had actually promised

2:22:24him a party who knows maybe he said that

2:22:26he was having a party at his house but

2:22:28either way it ended the exact same as

2:22:31most of his other murders did he lowed

2:22:33William back to his house strangled him

2:22:36and then buried his body in the crawl

2:22:38space at some point during November or

2:22:40December Gaye couldn't remember exactly

2:22:42when this one was he abducted his 17th

2:22:45victim this time it was 21-year-old

2:22:47Francis Alexander in December of 197 6

2:22:51gasy got a call one day informing him

2:22:53that one of his employees hadn't shown

2:22:55up at work 17-year-old Gregory godzik

2:22:58but gasy wasn't worried because he knew

2:23:00exactly where Gregory godzik was just a

2:23:03few weeks prior Gregory had been round

2:23:05at John Wayne gas's house helping to dig

2:23:08out some trenches underneath his house

2:23:11supposedly for some tiling that was one

2:23:13of Gregory's first jobs that he ever had

2:23:15with the Contracting Company little did

2:23:17Gregory know that he had just dug his

2:23:20own grave and just a couple of weeks

2:23:22later he would be strangled and buried

2:23:26in that crawl space by his own boss

2:23:29making him the serial killer Clown's

2:23:3218th victim now but this one was a very

2:23:35close call for John Wayne gasy because

2:23:37when Gregory godzik went missing he told

2:23:40his parents exactly where he was going

2:23:42that night he was going to his boss's

2:23:44house to go and help out with a job so

2:23:45of course when Gregory didn't return

2:23:47home that night his parents got worried

2:23:49they called his boss Lo and this is

2:23:51where things start to get a little bit

2:23:52weird gasy told the godick family that

2:23:55Gregory had been very very unhappy for a

2:23:58very long time in fact he'd been crying

2:24:01at work he'd been so distressed and so

2:24:04unhappy with his life that he had

2:24:05decided to run away run away from home

2:24:07completely and this came as a total

2:24:10shock to the godic family because he

2:24:12wasn't sad well as far as they were

2:24:14aware Gregory was so fine he was happy

2:24:16he had a great life he they had no

2:24:19inkling that he could be sad at all that

2:24:22being said gasy did seem quite genuine

2:24:24in the conversation that he had with the

2:24:26godzik family and so in the end they

2:24:28just kind of believed him maybe Gregory

2:24:31could confide in his boss in a way that

2:24:34he never could with his family and maybe

2:24:36that's why gasy knew so much about his

2:24:38emotional state when his family didn't

2:24:40who knows maybe he was just close with

2:24:42his boss gasy even told the godzik

2:24:44family that at some point since he'd run

2:24:47away since he'd been missing that he'd

2:24:49actually received a voicemail from him

2:24:51and Gregory had said that he was doing

2:24:52all right and you know whatever whatever

2:24:54and so the family were like oh my God

2:24:55please let us listen to this voicemail

2:24:57and then gasy went to go and get it and

2:24:59he was like oh looks like I've deleted

2:25:01it by accident oh I'm sorry convenient

2:25:05in the end his family just believed gasy

2:25:08they just believed that Gregory had run

2:25:10away and they just hoped that wherever

2:25:12he was he was living a happier life

2:25:15little did they know that gasy had

2:25:18murdered their son and buried him

2:25:20underneath his house going into the new

2:25:22year

2:25:231977 gasy claimed his 19th victim on

2:25:27January 20th this time it was

2:25:2920-year-old John shik and I don't know

2:25:32how gayy and John shik met and I don't

2:25:35know how this came up in conversation

2:25:36but basically at some point gayy offered

2:25:39to buy Jon's car off him and so John

2:25:42drove the car to gas's house gy had a

2:25:45look in the car he was like yeah looks

2:25:47good I'll take it and so he invited John

2:25:49into his house for a celebratory drink

2:25:52while they signed all the all the

2:25:53paperwork to hand over the car but once

2:25:55gy got John inside his house he switched

2:25:58on him and he grabbed him by the throat

2:26:00and strangled him to death this whole

2:26:03time by the way as John is being

2:26:05murdered in the hallway Michael Rossy is

2:26:08in the spare bedroom because this was

2:26:10when he was living with gasey he had no

2:26:12idea that his boss was murdering another

2:26:16man in the hallway the next morning

2:26:18Michael Rossy woke up and gayy was like

2:26:21look I've got this new car look at my

2:26:22new car and if you remember Michael

2:26:25asked him where he got it and gasy just

2:26:26couldn't give him a straight answer he

2:26:28just kind of avoided the question turns

2:26:30out it was his murder victim's car in

2:26:33the end gasey actually ended up selling

2:26:35the car to Michael Rossy who was driving

2:26:37around in it for like a year he had no

2:26:39idea where it came from no idea that it

2:26:41was a murder victim's car the only

2:26:43reason he actually stopped driving it

2:26:45after a year was because he got caught

2:26:48stealing petrol from a gas station or

2:26:50something um and so he had the car

2:26:52seized by the police and once it was

2:26:54seized they ran the license plate on the

2:26:57system and they found that it belonged

2:26:59to a missing man John shik luckily for

2:27:02gey police didn't really look into it

2:27:04Michael Rossy said that he'd just been

2:27:06given the car as a gift and he had no

2:27:09idea that it belonged to a missing man

2:27:11and police just kind of dropped it

2:27:12although it would have been useful for

2:27:14them to look into that wouldn't it gy

2:27:16got a lucky escape again but I just want

2:27:19to take you back to the first search

2:27:21that police did of John Wayne gas's home

2:27:23do you remember they found that High

2:27:25School ring from 1975 and it had those

2:27:27initials J engraved in it that was John

2:27:30shik's ring that police found so after

2:27:33this murder gas's confidence was a

2:27:35little bit knocked this didn't happen

2:27:37often to him but it was he had nearly

2:27:40been caught twice in a row now and so he

2:27:42decided to lay low for a couple of

2:27:44months but then by March 15th 1977 gase

2:27:48was ready to get back to business and

2:27:49claim his 20th murder victim this time

2:27:52it was a 20-year-old man named John

2:27:54Prestige that night John had gone out to

2:27:57a restaurant with some friends and

2:27:59seemed to have gone missing on the walk

2:28:01home he never made it home that night

2:28:03his disappearance remained unsolved for

2:28:05so many years police had no leads in

2:28:08this disappearance case well not until

2:28:11years later when John Wayne gasy sat

2:28:13there and confessed to abducting

2:28:15murdering and burying this man under his

2:28:18house had gasy never conf confess to all

2:28:20these murders I don't know if they would

2:28:22ever have known what happened to John

2:28:24Prestige to be fair I think that's the

2:28:25case with quite a few of these at this

2:28:27point by the way this was the 20th body

2:28:30in the crawl space just short of 20

2:28:32bodies in the crawl space cuz a couple

2:28:34of them were put in different places but

2:28:35you can imagine how full this crawl

2:28:37space is getting by now there were

2:28:39bodies on top of bodies in there gas's

2:28:4121st victim is again still unidentified

2:28:45to this day all we know about this

2:28:47victim is that he was between the ages

2:28:49of 17 and 21 and those cases make me so

2:28:52sad man like that was a young boy with

2:28:55hobbies and interests likes dislikes

2:28:58hopes dreams passions he had a family he

2:29:01had things that he loved doing and now

2:29:03we don't even know his name all we know

2:29:05is that he was between the ages of 17

2:29:07and 21 when he was brutally murdered the

2:29:1022nd victim of the Killer Clown was

2:29:1219-year-old Matthew Burman followed

2:29:14quickly by 18-year-old Robert Gilroy as

2:29:17you can see John Wayne gy is building

2:29:19his confidence back up quite quickly now

2:29:22he told police during his confession

2:29:24that it kind of became like an addiction

2:29:26like he had to do it he had this

2:29:28overwhelming urge he would just be like

2:29:30driving in his car at night he would see

2:29:32a young man on the side of the road and

2:29:34he just had to pull over and get him it

2:29:36was like an insatiable urge inside him

2:29:39he admitted that he would make sexual

2:29:41advances on all of the men well all of

2:29:44the young boys that he would pick up um

2:29:46some of them would consent and

2:29:48reciprocate those sexual favor

2:29:50and some of them would turn him down and

2:29:52in that case if they would turn him down

2:29:55gasey would just forcefully rape them

2:29:58anywhere he would handcuff them or tie

2:30:00them up so that they couldn't escape him

2:30:02in some cases he would even gag them or

2:30:05shove something down their throat to

2:30:07stop them from screaming we're nowhere

2:30:09near the end by the way we've still got

2:30:10a lot to go his 24th victim was

2:30:1219-year-old John mowery again he picked

2:30:15him up drove him home raped him

2:30:18strangled him and buried him in the

2:30:19cross space from October to December of

2:30:221977 gasey was on a roll once again he

2:30:25killed about five more victims in the

2:30:27space of 6 weeks these five victims over

2:30:30the space of 6 weeks were 21-year-old

2:30:32Russell Nelson 16-year-old Robert winch

2:30:3519-year-old David Talmer and 20-year-old

2:30:37Tommy borling who actually had a baby at

2:30:40home which is so sad and you might have

2:30:42noticed that I only said four names when

2:30:44I said he had five victims in six weeks

2:30:47and that's because the fifth of those

2:30:49victims was actually one of John Wayne

2:30:51gas's only survivors and gasey seemed to

2:30:54look back on this one particular assault

2:30:57very fondly he remembered a lot more

2:30:59details about this one than he did all

2:31:01the other ones it seemed as though this

2:31:03was one of his favorites this victim was

2:31:0519-year-old Robert Donnelly gasy had

2:31:08been just driving around one night when

2:31:10he noticed Robert walking down the

2:31:12street he pulled over his car and

2:31:14abducted Robert at gunpoint he drove him

2:31:16back to the house where he tortured and

2:31:19raped him for hours hours and hours and

2:31:22one of these torture methods was

2:31:23repeatedly dunking his head into

2:31:26freezing cold water in the bath so that

2:31:28he was he was like nearly passing out in

2:31:31fact he actually did pass out at one

2:31:32point because gasy had to pull him out

2:31:34of the bath wait for him to wake up and

2:31:36when he did he taunted this boy saying a

2:31:40aren't we playing fun games tonight

2:31:42Robert had been pleading throughout this

2:31:44whole ordeal for gasy to just let him go

2:31:47to Just spare him to just let him live

2:31:49and of course G he was loving every

2:31:50second of this he loved experiencing the

2:31:53fear in his victims then after hours and

2:31:57hours and hours of being raped and

2:31:59tortured Robert realized that the

2:32:02chances of him being let go alive were

2:32:05very very unlikely he really thought

2:32:07that John wingy was going to murder him

2:32:09his plea changed from please let me go

2:32:12to please just kill me please just get

2:32:16it over with and actually this had the

2:32:19adverse effect on John Wayne gasy he

2:32:22took pity on Robert and actually decided

2:32:26to let him go gy told Robert to jump in

2:32:29his car he drove him to where he worked

2:32:31and then told him to get out and before

2:32:33gasy sped away he told him not to tell

2:32:35the police that was the only victim that

2:32:37gasy ever like intentionally took pity

2:32:41on and spared and like let them live I

2:32:44wonder what was so different about this

2:32:46one compared to the others in the

2:32:48following Days Robert was so so

2:32:50traumatized by what he'd been through

2:32:52and he was so terrified that John Wayne

2:32:54gasy was going to come back for him that

2:32:56he didn't tell anyone anything about

2:32:58what had happened to him but after about

2:33:00a week of living with with all of this

2:33:04just circling through his head he

2:33:05couldn't take it anymore and he

2:33:07eventually went to the police police

2:33:09immediately brought John Wayne gasey in

2:33:11for questioning I'm not sure how they

2:33:12knew exactly who to bring in but they

2:33:14brought him in but gayy had already

2:33:17thought this through he knew that there

2:33:19was a chance that Robert would go to the

2:33:21police and so he already had a cover

2:33:23story ready gayy told the police that he

2:33:26and Robert were lovers well ex lovers

2:33:29now he said that the two of them used to

2:33:31be in a relationship a very um how do I

2:33:36put this it was kind of like a master

2:33:38and sex slave relationship where gasy

2:33:41was essentially allowed to abuse Robert

2:33:44in a sexual way and it was consensual

2:33:47you know gy told the police that he had

2:33:49recently broken up with Robert and

2:33:51Robert was very bitter about it he did

2:33:54not want to break up but also he wasn't

2:33:56just bitter about the breakup gayy also

2:33:58said that he was bitter because he owed

2:34:00him money so basically Gaye's just

2:34:03telling police look don't listen to him

2:34:05he's my jealous ex-boyfriend he just

2:34:07wants to get back at me he's just making

2:34:09up these lies to ruin my life and police

2:34:11believed him they didn't believe Robert

2:34:14anymore they believed John we gasey they

2:34:16let gasy go completely free of any

2:34:19charges and within a month he was back

2:34:21to killing his 29th murder was of a

2:34:2419-year-old boy named William Kindred

2:34:26his 30th murder was supposed to be of a

2:34:2926-year old man named Jeffrey rigal but

2:34:32this one didn't quite go to plan with

2:34:34Jeffrey he had found him on the side of

2:34:36the road pulled over abducted him and

2:34:39once he got him inside the car he

2:34:41chloroformed him to knock him out he

2:34:43took Jeffrey back to his house where he

2:34:45absolutely tortured this man he raped

2:34:48him time and time again he was whipping

2:34:50him pouring hot wax on him he was doing

2:34:53all sorts to this man he was tied up the

2:34:55whole time as well I can't remember if I

2:34:56said that he was tied up and whenever

2:34:58Jeffrey tried to fight back gayy would

2:35:00just grab the chloroform and knock him

2:35:02out again while he raped him he actually

2:35:04did this a few times throughout the

2:35:06hours of torture that Jeffrey had to

2:35:09sustain and it was around this time when

2:35:11he was torturing Jeffrey that gayy

2:35:13realized he couldn't actually kill him

2:35:16because the crawl space was full he had

2:35:18managed to fill up the crawl space with

2:35:22bodies now so even if he was to kill

2:35:25Jeffrey where was he going to put the

2:35:27body there was physically no space left

2:35:30for another body and so with that the

2:35:33Killer Clown had to let another one of

2:35:35his victims go alive gy drove him out to

2:35:39some random Park in Chicago and

2:35:41chloroformed him one last time and then

2:35:44left jeffy's unconscious body on the

2:35:46floor just left him to wake up when

2:35:48Jeffrey did wake up up he managed to

2:35:50walk to his girlfriend's house he told

2:35:52her everything and then the two of them

2:35:54went to the police station together to

2:35:56report the incident however police did

2:35:59pretty much nothing to investigate this

2:36:02one which makes me so mad I don't know

2:36:05why this man had been tortured raped for

2:36:07hours and police didn't really seem to

2:36:09care actually and this only pumped up

2:36:12John Wayne gas's confidence so much more

2:36:15because at this point he'd let two

2:36:17victims go alive and not seen any

2:36:20consequences as far as he was aware

2:36:22police went on to him like he was

2:36:25invincible in his eyes at this point in

2:36:27time he thought that he could do

2:36:29anything and get away with anything his

2:36:31actual 30th victim 30th murder victim

2:36:34was a 20-year-old boy named Timothy o

2:36:37rock however once he killed Timothy he

2:36:40had the same problem as last time the

2:36:42crawl space was still full where was he

2:36:44going to put this body so he had to

2:36:46think fast about where he was going to

2:36:47get rid of this body and then he

2:36:49remembered the Dez plains River that was

2:36:52like not too far away from where he

2:36:54lived he hoped that if he threw the Body

2:36:56In this River it would just like get

2:36:58washed away it might sink it might

2:37:01disintegrate who knows and worse comes

2:37:03to worse if it did wash up on the shore

2:37:05then it might just look like a drowning

2:37:07victim I don't know anyway he disposed

2:37:09of the body in the Dez plains River gy

2:37:11was a little bit anxious after this one

2:37:13though because he knew that there was

2:37:15the possibility that the body could wash

2:37:16up and then it could cause issues for

2:37:18him so for weeks afterwards months even

2:37:22gasy was glued to the news waiting for a

2:37:26report to come up about a body being

2:37:28found in the river he needed to know

2:37:30what was going on with this

2:37:31investigation but every single day he

2:37:34would tune into the news and nothing was

2:37:36coming up it didn't seem as though

2:37:38they'd found this body at all so maybe

2:37:40the Dez plains River was the perfect

2:37:43place to dispose of a body if it's not

2:37:45going to wash up so now John Wayne gas's

2:37:48confidence is on it way back up he

2:37:50realized that he could keep doing these

2:37:52murders and probably keep getting away

2:37:54with them if he kept putting the bodies

2:37:56in the river he waited nearly 5 months

2:37:59before committing his next murder

2:38:01because he was that anxious and this one

2:38:03actually took place on November 4th 1978

2:38:06this time he abducted and strangled an

2:38:0818-year-old boy named Frank landan and

2:38:11again he disposed of the body in the Dez

2:38:13plains River but this time it didn't

2:38:16quite go to plan it didn't go as

2:38:18smoothly as the first one because about

2:38:20a week later Frank's naked body washed

2:38:23up on the River Bank police were called

2:38:26and they of course recovered the body

2:38:28but they weren't able to identify it and

2:38:30they actually couldn't figure out how

2:38:31Frank had died either and so this wasn't

2:38:35categorized as a murder there wasn't a

2:38:37major investigation so gasy still got

2:38:40away with it well that was until he

2:38:42confessed later on and then police knew

2:38:44that he was responsible and actually I

2:38:47mean you would think this would scare

2:38:48John wing gy a little bit because he's

2:38:51he's a little bit anxious at this point

2:38:52in time but actually it really didn't

2:38:54put him off and he was ready to kill

2:38:56again a week later this time he abducted

2:38:5820-year-old James mazara who was walking

2:39:01home from a Thanksgiving dinner he

2:39:03abducted him raped him tortured him

2:39:06murdered him and then disposed of his

2:39:08body in the Dez plains River and then

2:39:10John Wayne gase's 33rd and final victim

2:39:14was of course 15-year-old Robert priest

2:39:16on December 11th 1978 this was the

2:39:19murder that kickstarted this whole

2:39:22investigation the start of the end for

2:39:24gasy gasy had denied involvement in this

2:39:27disappearance the whole time police had

2:39:29been questioning him up until now when

2:39:31he was given this full confession and he

2:39:33finally confessed that yes he had

2:39:35abducted Robert priest and yes he had

2:39:38murdered him but now we have more

2:39:39details on how this went down so gase

2:39:42told the police that he had met up with

2:39:44Robert outside of the pharmacy told him

2:39:46that he had a job for him and that was

2:39:48how he managed to lure him back to his

2:39:50house Robert willingly got in gas's car

2:39:53and he drove him back once he was there

2:39:55he did the old handcuff magic trick

2:39:58method thing you know where there's no

2:40:01magic trick and he just gets to handcuff

2:40:03his victim and once he did he turned to

2:40:05Robert priest and said I'm going to rape

2:40:08you and you can't do anything about it

2:40:10gasy tied a piece of rope around

2:40:12Robert's neck as he cried hysterically

2:40:16and in that moment gase's phone started

2:40:19ringing in before he got up to go and

2:40:21answer the phone gayy made sure that the

2:40:23Rope was tied as tight as he possibly

2:40:25could around Robert's neck so that he

2:40:27couldn't make any noise so that he

2:40:29couldn't disturb the phone call it was

2:40:31just a business call for gayy nothing

2:40:33too exciting but Robert had to sit there

2:40:36and listen to this as he was slowly

2:40:39being strangled to death by this rope

2:40:41around his neck and that is where John

2:40:44Wayne gy ended his confession 33 murders

2:40:48plus more victims on top of that so

2:40:50police now needed to connect John Wayne

2:40:53gase's confession to the physical

2:40:55evidence that they had you know all

2:40:57those bodies in the crawl space so the

2:41:00next thing they did they asked him to

2:41:01draw out a map of the crawl space and

2:41:03try and map out where as many of the

2:41:05bodies were as he could possibly

2:41:07remember and the next day a full

2:41:09archaeological investigation was

2:41:11launched to try and recover as many BS

2:41:15as they possibly could from under this

2:41:16man's house and this was such a trick

2:41:19investigation as I said earlier in the

2:41:21video imagine how hard this would be all

2:41:24the bodies were so packed in there so

2:41:27close together they were all just

2:41:29skeletons at this point in time it was

2:41:31so hard for them to be able to tell what

2:41:33bone belonged to what body and all of

2:41:35these investigators that were down there

2:41:37in the crawl space they had to be so

2:41:39careful like where they were moving

2:41:41where they were standing because well

2:41:43honestly everywhere they stood they were

2:41:45standing on a body they couldn't help it

2:41:47there was nowhere else to stand in the

2:41:49end end they had to pretty much

2:41:51dismantle the whole of John Wayne gas's

2:41:54house to be able to like get to all of

2:41:56these bodies they had to rip up all the

2:41:58floorboards they pretty much just

2:41:59guttered the whole house they had

2:42:01Specialists like sifting through the

2:42:04soil for weeks weeks and weeks and weeks

2:42:06looking for even the tiniest little

2:42:08fragments of BNS maybe some teeth

2:42:11anything that could help identify these

2:42:13bodies and as they started to identify

2:42:16these remains underneath the house they

2:42:18were starting to learn more and more

2:42:19about each individual murder like victim

2:42:22number five Randall rfet he was one of

2:42:25the first to be found with a cloth still

2:42:28inside his mouth like the cloth was

2:42:30still in his skeleton when his remains

2:42:34were found at first police thought it

2:42:36was a gag you know he'd been gagged as

2:42:38he was being murdered and then it had

2:42:39just been left in there but after they

2:42:41heard John Wayne gas's confession they

2:42:44realized that he probably just stuffed

2:42:45this rag inside Randall's mouth to stop

2:42:48any leakage

2:42:49victim number seven Michael bonnin was

2:42:52one of the first to be found with a

2:42:53piece of cloth around his neckbones

2:42:56suggesting that whatever had been used

2:42:58to strangle him had just been left

2:43:00around his neck when his body was buried

2:43:03Timothy McCoy gas's first ever victim

2:43:06you know the one that he stabbed to

2:43:07death and it was all supposedly an

2:43:09accident when his remains were recovered

2:43:11they found loads of little notes in his

2:43:14ribs which I mean backs up gas's story

2:43:16that he stabbed him multiple times and

2:43:18just a bit of a the side note I find

2:43:20this one particular murder quite

2:43:22interesting it was his first ever one

2:43:24and this was the only bloody murder that

2:43:28gase carried out after this one he

2:43:31decided he didn't want to use knives for

2:43:32some reason I don't think he ever

2:43:34explained why he changed his murder

2:43:36method to strangulation after this I

2:43:38don't know if he didn't like the act of

2:43:41stabbing Timothy that much or I I don't

2:43:43know I don't know if the blood was too

2:43:45messy I I really wonder why that one

2:43:47really interests me you don't see that

2:43:49very often where they would do like one

2:43:52murder in one way and then change

2:43:54completely for the rest G's eighth

2:43:56victim William Carol his remains were

2:43:59actually found with a ball of socks in

2:44:02his pelvic region suggesting that he had

2:44:05had this this ball of socks stuffed

2:44:07inside him inside his inness around the

2:44:10time of his death a couple of other

2:44:12bodies were also found with um

2:44:14prescription medication bottles around

2:44:17the pelvic region again suggesting that

2:44:19they had been shoved inside the men but

2:44:22inside the boys when they were killed

2:44:23and something else that was discovered

2:44:26during this investigation as they were

2:44:28pulling out all these burs it seemed

2:44:30that a couple of John Wayne gas's

2:44:32victims had been dismembered had been

2:44:35chopped up which is something that he

2:44:36conveniently left out of his whole

2:44:39confession but they knew that it was

2:44:40true because a lot of the burs seemed to

2:44:43have been cut with a knife like actually

2:44:45dissected there were a couple of bodies

2:44:47that seemed to have been decapitated all

2:44:49of their limbs cut off some of them were

2:44:51just torsos I mean this was only a

2:44:53couple of the bodies but I find it

2:44:55really interesting that he didn't even

2:44:57so much as hint about that in his

2:44:59confession finally in March of 1979

2:45:02after about 3 months of searches police

2:45:05were finally done with John Wayne gas's

2:45:07house and the whole thing was demolished

2:45:10the last four of John Wayne gas's

2:45:12victims were eventually found from the

2:45:14Dez plains River one of which had a pair

2:45:17of underwear shoved all the way down

2:45:19down their throat but this actually

2:45:20wasn't their cause of death so this

2:45:22victim his name was Frank and this pair

2:45:25of underwear was shoved so far down his

2:45:27throat that it had actually made him

2:45:29vomit but of course the vomit couldn't

2:45:32come out properly and so Frank actually

2:45:35ended up drowning on his own vomit one

2:45:38of the last bodies to be recovered from

2:45:40the river was John Wing's final victim

2:45:4415-year-old Robert priest he'd been

2:45:46choked to death by gasi and he was also

2:45:48found with wads of paper shoved down his

2:45:51throat it's believed that gasy probably

2:45:53did this when the phone started ringing

2:45:55you know to stop Robert from making any

2:45:58noise and blowing his cover so now that

2:46:00all of this evidence had fallen into

2:46:02place police could finally charge John

2:46:04Wayne gy with 33 counts of murder they

2:46:08asked him one last time if there were

2:46:10any more bodies that they hadn't found

2:46:12or that they were yet to find and gasy

2:46:15responded that's for you to find out so

2:46:17now gasy was was due to go to trial well

2:46:20in about a year's time obviously the

2:46:22trial needed to be prepared but in the

2:46:24meantime he underwent 300 hours well

2:46:28over 300 hours of different

2:46:31psychological tests and observations

2:46:35different assessments they really wanted

2:46:37to know what the hell was going on in

2:46:38this man's brain to make him do all of

2:46:40this and gasy tried absolutely

2:46:43everything in his power to seem insane

2:46:46he did not want to be found legally sit

2:46:49in because that would mean that he would

2:46:51probably get the death penalty for what

2:46:53he had done whereas if he could seem

2:46:55like he wasn't mentally well then he

2:46:57might just get time in prison or in a

2:46:59hospital maybe so John Wayne gasy tried

2:47:02to convince all of his psychiatrists

2:47:05psychologists doctors that he had

2:47:07multiple personality disorder and he

2:47:09said that he had four different

2:47:12personalities four different altars

2:47:14there was the clown who was Jolly fun

2:47:17lovable happy there was the contractor

2:47:20who was hardworking determined there was

2:47:23the politician who was serious mature

2:47:27intelligent and then there was Jack

2:47:29Hanley although sometimes gasy referred

2:47:31to this one as bad Jack and bad Jack was

2:47:34a nasty piece of work he was homophobic

2:47:37he was abusive he abused prostitutes he

2:47:41just disrespected any member of society

2:47:44that he deemed less than him and that

2:47:46was most people bad Jack referred to gay

2:47:50men and sex workers as degraded scum it

2:47:53seemed that he had a particular hatred

2:47:55for like young gay sex workers and gasy

2:47:58told his psychiatrist that when he did

2:48:01that massive confession with police he

2:48:03was just confessing to bad Jacks crimes

2:48:07and that the clown the politician and

2:48:08the contractor had nothing to do with

2:48:11the things that Jack Hanley had done

2:48:14wait does that mean anything I don't

2:48:15know why I haven't checked that can

2:48:17someone let me know if Jack Hanley means

2:48:19anything I've just Googled it it's a

2:48:20it's a museum I don't know an art

2:48:23gallery but yeah psychiatrists just

2:48:25didn't believe that John Wayne gasey had

2:48:28multiple personality disorder it just

2:48:30didn't seem genuine it seemed actually

2:48:32far too convenient and obviously

2:48:34psychiatrist know the exact symptoms and

2:48:37behaviors to be looking out for and he

2:48:39just wasn't displaying like genuine

2:48:41symptoms of having this disorder it

2:48:43honestly seemed like a desperate attempt

2:48:45to be seen as mentally ill in order to

2:48:47get away with his crime I guess there

2:48:49were several different doctors that were

2:48:51brought in and they had several

2:48:53different opinions none of them thought

2:48:55that he had multiple personality

2:48:56disorder however most of them thought

2:48:59that he did have paranoid schizophrenia

2:49:01and he was diagnosed with that in the

2:49:03end doctors thought that these

2:49:05personalities that gase claimed to have

2:49:08were actually just voices in his head it

2:49:10was just his schizophrenia and because

2:49:12of this diagnosis gas's defense team

2:49:16decided it would be best for him to try

2:49:17and plead not guilty to the murders and

2:49:20say that he just like wasn't of sound

2:49:22mind at the time when he committed them

2:49:24but the prosecution didn't agree with

2:49:26that at all they thought that gasey was

2:49:29in full control of his behavior and they

2:49:31said that it was evident in the way that

2:49:33he went about things he intentionally

2:49:35tried to cover up and get away with his

2:49:38murders if he was mentally ill he

2:49:40wouldn't realize that what he was doing

2:49:42was wrong really and he repeated this

2:49:45process over 30 times so once G's team

2:49:49realized that they wouldn't really be

2:49:51able to get away with the mentally ill

2:49:53excuse they decided to switch up their

2:49:56story completely and I can't believe

2:49:57this they tried to say that the deaths

2:49:59were accidental they tried to say that

2:50:02most if not all of John Wayne gase's

2:50:05victims had died from erotic

2:50:07asphixiation so they'd all consented to

2:50:10being choked or strangled during sex and

2:50:14at some point things kind of got out of

2:50:16hand and it ended fatal although that

2:50:19was never the intent supposedly it was a

2:50:21consensual sexual act that just got out

2:50:24of hand accidentally and no one was to

2:50:27blame you know I'm not sure how on Earth

2:50:31you could do that 33 times in a row 33

2:50:34times in a row if that happened once if

2:50:37you had a sexual partner and you were

2:50:39doing this consensually and they died in

2:50:42the middle of sex by accident why are

2:50:43you repeating that 32 times just just to

2:50:46see if it's going to happen again what

2:50:48and you just burying the bodies every

2:50:50time you you dug out a whole grave

2:50:52underneath your house to just keep

2:50:54burying your failed sexual partners and

2:50:56that just don't make sense not even a

2:50:58little bit not even not even a tiny bit

2:51:00anyway sorry I'm getting a bit heed so

2:51:02during the murder trial uh they were

2:51:05calling up a bunch of different

2:51:06Witnesses including uh gas's old Lodgers

2:51:09David crown and Michael Rossy his

2:51:11attempted victims that had managed to

2:51:13get away um even some old like KFC

2:51:16employees and workers that he'd known of

2:51:18his surviving victims took the stand and

2:51:21he was being quizzed for a long time

2:51:23about this they were making him go into

2:51:25like details of his ordeal and actually

2:51:28at one point he threw up as he was

2:51:31recounting all these details it was so

2:51:33clear how traumatized he was and

2:51:35throughout these victim statements gasy

2:51:37was seen laughing and smiling and

2:51:40smirking as if he was enjoying listening

2:51:42to the details of what he'd done to

2:51:45these boys enjoying hearing how

2:51:47traumatized they were all in all the

2:51:50trial lasted a month and a half and when

2:51:52it started gasy was super confident he

2:51:55was cocky I really think he thought he

2:51:58was getting away with this but as time

2:52:00went on as the trial went on his

2:52:02confidence dwindled as he saw just how

2:52:06bad he looked in this trial and by week

2:52:08five gasy actually wrote a really long

2:52:11letter to the judge saying that he

2:52:13wanted a retrial because he didn't like

2:52:15the way that his lawyer had gone about

2:52:17things he felt like his lawyer had

2:52:19actually acted in a way that was

2:52:20detrimental to his case in the letter

2:52:23gasy said that he didn't agree with the

2:52:25insanity plea he didn't want to give

2:52:27that plea and he actually wanted to

2:52:29testify for himself but his lawyers

2:52:31weren't going to let him he was saying

2:52:33that his lawyers just wanted to do

2:52:35things their way and he wanted to do

2:52:37things his way and the judge basically

2:52:39wrote back and said shut up he was

2:52:42basically like look we're not doing a

2:52:43retrial if you want to take the stand

2:52:45and testify you can no one's stopping

2:52:48you lawyer can't stop you doing that but

2:52:49we're not going to retrial and once the

2:52:52judge said that gasy shut up completely

2:52:55he was just like yeah no never mind I

2:52:56don't want to take the stand anymore at

2:52:58the end of the trial the prosecution

2:53:00called John Wayne gasi the worst of all

2:53:03murderers and said that he had caused

2:53:05more human Devastation than many Earthly

2:53:08catastrophes he had killed more people

2:53:11than a lot of earthquakes than a lot of

2:53:13hurricanes had Gay's defense came back

2:53:16to that and said that he was just a man

2:53:18driven by compulsions that he was unable

2:53:20to control he was mentally ill and

2:53:23therefore not at fault for any of this

2:53:26his team said that they really didn't

2:53:28think that gasey would benefit from

2:53:30being behind bars from just being like

2:53:31Locked Away In A Cell they said that he

2:53:33needed treatment he needed help he

2:53:35needed medication and counseling and and

2:53:38psychiatrists he needed hospitalizing

2:53:41not a prison cell the prosecution argued

2:53:45that the insanity plea that they were

2:53:47trying to put in was was a sham and that

2:53:49it was an insult to actual genuinely

2:53:52mentally ill people there was evidence

2:53:54that John Wayne gasy had planned and

2:53:56premeditated his murders he had acted in

2:53:59a very calm cool controlled way

2:54:02throughout the whole thing so the jury

2:54:03went to deliberate their verdict and it

2:54:05took them just two hours to come back

2:54:08and find John Wayne gasy guilty of all

2:54:1133 counts of murder plus a bunch of

2:54:15counts of sexual assault on top of that

2:54:17the jury was then asked to go back and

2:54:19deliberate again this time to see if

2:54:22they think John Wayne gasy should be put

2:54:24up for the death penalty if he should be

2:54:26executed and again it really didn't take

2:54:29them much time at all to come back and

2:54:31say that he should be executed John

2:54:34Wayne gas's death date was then set for

2:54:37June 2nd 1980 but he actually sat on

2:54:40death row for 14 years he never ended up

2:54:44dying on that day he died 14 years later

2:54:46he was just chilling in prison for 14

2:54:49years basically I think it's because he

2:54:51tried to appeal the decision so many

2:54:53times that it just kept having to like

2:54:55get pushed back and back and back I

2:54:56don't know if that was just a tactic for

2:54:58him to like stay alive a bit longer I

2:55:00don't know cuz realistically was it ever

2:55:02going to get overturned no you're John

2:55:04Wayne gasy you're the killer clown in

2:55:06those 14 years that he was just chilling

2:55:09in prison just on death row John Wayne

2:55:12gasy did a lot of press interviews a lot

2:55:15yeah for a serial killer he did a lot of

2:55:17press interviews in these interviews

2:55:19there's quite a few interesting quotes

2:55:20actually in one of them he said that he

2:55:23didn't believe in hitting children what

2:55:26a 33 time murderer torturer rapist

2:55:30doesn't believe in hitting children I

2:55:32mean what he also collaborated with an

2:55:35author to publish a book and this oh the

2:55:38title of this book ma'am it was called

2:55:41buried dreams and essentially this book

2:55:43was just like a serial killer biography

2:55:46of his life and he gave some details

2:55:49about some of the murders I don't know

2:55:51how that book was allowed to be made and

2:55:52I'll be fuming if he made any money off

2:55:54that but there was actually an upside to

2:55:56this book being made because gasy went

2:55:59into quite a bit more detail in this

2:56:01book than he had in his confession to

2:56:03the police and this book actually led to

2:56:06two more of the unidentified bodies

2:56:09eventually being identified I will have

2:56:11named them in this video so I don't know

2:56:13which two bodies they were but at least

2:56:15we know about them now also in his time

2:56:17on death rad John Wayne gasey actually

2:56:19ended up getting into a fight with

2:56:21another serial killer named Henry

2:56:23brisban they'd always had power

2:56:25struggles between the two of them

2:56:27between gase and Brisbane because they

2:56:29were both the serial killers of the wing

2:56:32you know they both wanted to be like Top

2:56:34Dog the scariest guy on that prison Ward

2:56:37or whatever they wanted to be king of

2:56:39the serial killers so they would both

2:56:41always have these fights these arguments

2:56:43and then one day Henry brisban turns

2:56:45around and he's made a makeshift knife

2:56:48and he stabbed John Wayne gasi in the

2:56:51arm I think yeah in the arm random so

2:56:54gasi had to be taken to the prison

2:56:56hospital he got some stitches and gas's

2:56:59final death date was rescheduled for May

2:57:0210th 1994 and his last words ever to his

2:57:06lawyer were taking my life will not

2:57:09compensate for the loss of others the

2:57:11state is murdering me the day before his

2:57:13execution John Wayne gasy was allowed to

2:57:15have a picnic on Prison grounds with his

2:57:18family in order to say goodbye to them

2:57:20um but like I said earlier what family I

2:57:23don't know who showed up to that picnic

2:57:24I really couldn't find much about it cuz

2:57:26he really didn't have any family in the

2:57:28end did he that night gasy had his final

2:57:31meal his death Ro meal do you want to

2:57:33know what he had consisted of a bucket

2:57:35of KFC chicken a dozen deep fried shrimp

2:57:38a pound of strawberries and a bottle of

2:57:40Diet cook he then went and prayed with a

2:57:43Catholic priest and then he was sent

2:57:45straight to the execution chamber at

2:57:47like one a.m. they didn't even let him

2:57:49sleep and then go there in the morning

2:57:51to be killed he was just going to they

2:57:53were just going to do it now just get it

2:57:54over with it was going to be done by

2:57:56lethal injection and it was but

2:57:58everything didn't quite go to plan so

2:58:01the way that the lethal injection works

2:58:03or worked in this instance was that gase

2:58:06was going to be given three different

2:58:08drugs one after the other after the

2:58:10other the first one is to sedate the

2:58:12person which is is supposed to try and

2:58:15make it like the most humane way of

2:58:17killing someone like they're not going

2:58:18to feel anything they're just out cold

2:58:20and then they die they fall asleep

2:58:21forever the second injection that they

2:58:24get is to paralyze all their muscles and

2:58:27then the third injection is finally the

2:58:29one that kills them that is the one that

2:58:31stops the heart and causes them to die

2:58:33so yeah like I said they're given one

2:58:35and then the other and then the other so

2:58:38they set him all up everything's going

2:58:40well they get the IV in his arm and they

2:58:42inject the first one to Sedar in but as

2:58:45they inject it into like you know the

2:58:47the tubes and everything it crystallized

2:58:50in the tube they couldn't get it into

2:58:53gas's body this was really weird this

2:58:55had never happened before so they had to

2:58:57disconnect it all and like get new

2:58:59equipment and remeasure out all the

2:59:01different you know things so yeah anyway

2:59:03they disconnected it all reconnected it

2:59:05all injected him and this time it worked

2:59:09and John Wayne gy was executed the

2:59:11Killer Clown was pronounced dead just

2:59:13before 1:00 a.m. on May 10th 1994 his

2:59:17last words ever would kiss my ass after

2:59:21his death John Wayne gas's brain was

2:59:23actually sent off for testing because

2:59:26what the hell went on there I don't know

2:59:28if they ever really found anything but

2:59:30it's actually still preserved in for

2:59:32Malahide to this day John Wing gas's

2:59:34brain just exists somewhere in like a

2:59:36jar I find that so crazy the rest of his

2:59:38body was cremated and one of the saddest

2:59:40things about this case is that five of

2:59:43John Wayne gas's 33 victims are still

2:59:46unidentified to this day they found

2:59:48their remains but they can't identify

2:59:50them and none of their families know

2:59:52where they are or what happened to them

2:59:54but yeah that is everything for this

2:59:57really really long case I hope you
