Introduction to Pinterest Marketing Series

0:00This is video two in my Pinterest

0:02marketing for beginners series. In the

0:05last video, we covered what Pinterest is

0:07and who should use it and why you should

0:10use it. Today, we're setting up your

Setting Up Your Pinterest Business Account

0:12Pinterest business account from scratch.

0:14Now, I know not everybody will have an

0:16account that is blank, but some people

0:18might have personal accounts that they

0:20haven't used for a while that they want

0:22to convert to a business account. So,

0:23we're going to cover all of that. So,

0:25regardless of where you're at, whether

0:26it's brand new or maybe an old kind of

0:30decrepit Pinterest account, we're going

0:32to help you get set up the right way. If

0:34you haven't watched video one, I would

0:36highly recommend you go back and you

0:38watch it. You can grab it right here.

0:40One of the biggest reasons you need to

0:41watch it is that anyone who dives into

0:44Pinterest marketing really needs to

0:46understand why. I have heard countless

0:48stories of people starting and they get

0:503 to four weeks in and they go, "Why am

0:53I doing this? I don't even understand

0:54how Pinterest works. I don't get it. It

0:57doesn't make sense to me. That video

0:58will help bring you up to speed so you

1:01don't have this gap in there that is the

1:03struggling point for so many other

1:06business owners. So, go back and watch

1:08it if you haven't. All right, let's dive

Importance of a Business Account

1:09in. Creating a business account. Number

1:12one, if you're going to do any type of

1:13business on Pinterest, you must have a

1:16business account. Plus, you get so many

1:18extra features with a business account

1:21that you don't get with a personal

1:22account. The reason I call this out is

1:24because for years, Instagram has had

1:26creator accounts or professional

1:29accounts or personal accounts. And

1:31people often take their understanding of

1:32Instagram and they overlay it onto

1:34Pinterest. They have a personal account

1:36and they think, "Well, maybe if I keep

1:38it personal, I'm going to get more

1:40reach." But that's just not the case

1:42with Pinterest. You for sure need a

1:44business account, especially if you're

1:46going to be selling your products or

1:47selling any type of product ads,

1:50whatever it is on your website. It is

1:53against their terms of service to do

1:55business and not have a business

1:57account. Plus, you really want a

1:59business account. Trust me. If you're

2:01starting fresh, simply go to

2:02business.pinterest.com.

2:04You can click on this right here, or

2:05I'll put it down below in the

2:07description. You simply create an

2:08account, set it up, and you're good to

2:10go. Now, it's going to give you some

2:12prompts to complete, and I'm going to

2:13walk you through why you want to

2:15complete those prompts and what is

2:17important for you to put in those

2:19prompts. Let's say you're not new to

2:20Pinterest, but maybe you already have a

2:22personal account. Go to

2:24business.pinterest.com

2:25and then convert to a business account.

2:28It's super easy. It's super simple. Just

2:30know you're going to have to do a little

2:31bit of cleaning up, moving some boards

2:33to secret, which you can still use even

2:35if they are in secret. But this way, you

2:39don't have to start over. You're already

2:41with the account that you have. Now, if

2:44you're in a position where you're not

2:46new to Pinterest, you have a personal

2:48account, but maybe you don't want to

2:51take that personal account and convert

2:52it into a business account, then you

2:54need to go with option one is creating a

2:56fresh new business account. Then you can

2:59toggle back and forth between your

3:00business and your personal account on

3:02Pinterest. It's pretty easy. Okay,

Profile Optimization Tips

3:05number one is profile optimization.

3:07Let's show you what that looks like.

3:09Let's go to your profile and I'll walk

3:11through what you need to make sure your

3:13profile is optimized. Number one, your

3:15profile name. This should be your

3:17business name plus what you do. Think

3:20Kate all Pinterest marketing or Sarah

3:22Smith home organization tips. Pinterest

3:25reads this as search term, so make it

3:27clear and keywordri.

3:30Your bio. You've got 160 characters, so

3:33use them wisely. Tell people what you

3:35do, who you help. Include two to three

3:38keywords naturally. Mine says something

3:40like Pinterest marketing strategies for

3:42business owners. Grow your traffic and

3:44sales with proven Pinterest tactics.

3:47Don't overthink it. Just be clear about

3:49who you are and what you do. Last is

3:51website claiming. This is huge. Go to

3:54settings, click claim, and follow the

3:56steps to claim your website. This

3:58verifies your own domain and lets you

4:00see analytics from all pins from your

4:02site, even the ones other people pin. It

4:05also adds your profile photo to every

4:07pin from your website, which builds

4:09brand recognition. If we're on the same

4:11page here, go ahead and hit the like

4:13button below. All right, creating your

Creating Your First Boards

4:15first boards. Now, this is something

4:17that in the past when I've done a video,

4:19people have said, "I really need to see

4:21this in action." So, we're going to walk

4:23through this right now. All right. When

4:24you're creating boards, you want to

4:25think about three to five boards that

4:27accurately represent your business, the

4:30content that you create, or the products

4:32that you sell. You need to name them in

4:35a way that the algorithm knows exactly

4:38what you're talking about. You want to

4:40use this exact strategy. If you're a

4:43wedding planner, don't just create a

4:45board that is wedding planning tips. You

4:48want to create a board that is rustic

4:50wedding decor or maybe you specialize in

4:53elegant wedding planning. You want to be

4:55very specific, not just weddings. I love

4:59if you are a nutritionist, you want to

5:01skip the recipe board. That's like

5:03recipes I love. You want to be really

5:06specific. Proteinrich breakfast ideas,

5:09quick and easy lunches, quick and

5:12healthy lunches, something that you know

5:14the person on Pinterest is going to be

5:16typing into the search bar in order to

5:19find your board. See the difference? One

5:22is about you and what you like. The

5:25other board is about them and what they

5:27like. That is really, really important

5:30to find the keywords that you're going

5:32to use in building your boards. You want

5:35to use the search bar on Pinterest. I'll

5:37do a quick screen capture here so you

5:39can see. You simply go to your app, see

5:43the little search bar at the top, put in

5:45some keywords, and there you go. You'll

5:47get search prediction down below. I

5:49highly recommend that you search

5:51keywords that you know are related to

5:54your brand. For example, here I searched

5:57Pinterest marketing. So I could see what

5:59other keywords are related to Pinterest

6:01marketing. Then I can take those words

6:04and I can end up using them on a board

6:07that I actually own so that people can

6:10come and find more Pinterest marketing

6:12tips. Each board that you have needs to

6:14have a description. Don't overthink this

6:16either. It's two to three natural

6:18sounding sentences. I'll put a

6:20screenshot here so you can see that.

6:21It's just simply a phrase or two about

6:25what the board will hold. Think of it as

6:28an extra layer of a category as to what

6:31your board will be about. Again, two to

6:34three natural sounding sentences. Don't

6:36keyword stuff and put commas between or

6:38those little pipes in between. Make it

6:40natural sounding. And here's something

6:42people always ask me. How many boards

6:45should I have? Now, there's really no

6:48one right way to answer that question.

6:50You need to have as many boards or as

6:53few boards that communicate the type of

6:56content or services that you sell or the

6:59products that you sell. You don't always

7:01need a 100 boards to communicate that.

7:03How would you fill that up if you don't

7:04have enough content or maybe you only

7:07have 5 to 10 products that you rotate

7:09through or you sell. Maybe 5 to 10

7:11boards is all you need. So, start small.

7:14You can add more later. Remember, you

7:16can move some to secret or you can move

7:18them to public. There's a lot of

7:20flexibility when it comes to boards.

7:22Just think about this. Maybe you're

7:24going to create a series kind of like

7:26I've done here with Pinterest marketing

7:28for businesses or Pinterest marketing

7:30for beginners. Well, I'm maybe I don't

7:32have that on my Pinterest profile, but I

7:34know I can put all these videos and all

7:36of my blog posts into that particular

7:39board. Then I would go ahead and create

7:41a new board for that. But if I'm only

7:43going to be doing one post, maybe

7:45Pinterest marketing for real estate

7:47agents, but I'm not going to be doing

7:49much more, I probably won't create a new

7:52board for that. I'll put what I have

7:55into my Pinterest marketing for

7:56beginners board. Got it. Does that make

7:59sense? If you're tracking with me, go

8:00ahead and hit the like button below.
