0:00This guy refuses to throw away his
0:01100-year old window, even though it's
0:04warped and the frame is cracked. And
0:06you'll know why. He starts by carefully
0:08removing the glass using a custom tool
0:11and an infrared heater to soften the
0:13glue so it doesn't crack. Then he cuts
0:16three wood blocks on a miter saw. Now,
0:18here's the smart part. Some carpenters
0:21prefer using steam to bend the wood back
0:23into shape, but the warp usually comes
0:26back over time. Instead, he notches the
0:28frame and inserts the three wood blocks
0:31to straighten it permanently. He then
0:33uses a circular saw to cut a few curves,
0:35making it easier to chisel away the
0:37excess wood cleanly. He smooths out the
0:39entire surface, removing the excess wood
0:41and finishing it perfectly. And that's
0:43why he refuses to throw it away. It's a
0:45fraction of the cost of a new window,
0:47and restored correctly, it will last
0:49another 100 years.
