0:01Now I have to admit something and I'm
0:04kind of proud to admit it.
0:06Being 81 years old,
0:09somehow I've made it to this point in my
0:10life
0:12through a lot of ups and downs, that's
0:14for sure.
0:15But, I really do appreciate the fact
0:18Karen has kept me alive
0:20through it all
0:21and
0:23today we get to run out on the R1
0:27or any of the bikes.
0:28At 81, I know that some people don't
0:30ride much anymore or they don't ride at
0:33all. I don't know. But, I consider this
0:36the best time of my whole life ever.
0:39Been married 36 years
0:41and have a nice humble collection of
0:44bikes
0:45and a lot of friends that watch this
0:48stuff on YouTube and enjoy sharing rides
0:51with us. So,
0:52what are we waiting for? It's a
0:54beautiful day.
3:07>> Now, I remember a funny story Scott told
3:09me. He had a friend
3:11that was turning 42.
3:14And he Scott got up and he said, "Hey,
3:17I'll never forget this. Scott, my bike's
3:19for sale."
3:21And Scott was thinking, "Well, you know,
3:23uh
3:24it's for sale, maybe I'll buy it or
3:26whatever." But he said, "Why are you
3:28selling it?"
3:29He said, "Oh, Scott, I'm turning 42. I
3:32got to sell my bike.
3:34My wife wants me to stop riding."
3:39I think there's a million of those
3:40stories. Everybody's got one.
6:28>> Another good story, my friend Ray in
6:31Florida, who has my race bike by the
6:33way, and has taken excellent care of it.
6:36This is a funny story. He was at a bike
6:38meet-up where there was a a guy that
6:40looked a little old,
6:41and he was riding a an older bike,
6:45and he asked Ray, said, "Hey, you know,
6:47how old are you?" And Ray is 86.
6:50So, what had happened is he said, "Could
6:51you do me a favor?
6:53Look down and check the oil level on my
6:55bike. I can't bend my knees anymore."
6:58And Ray said, "Well, I'll do that for
6:59you. That's no problem."
7:02It's so funny.
7:03He says, "How old are you?"
7:05And the guy says, "Unashamedly,
7:08hey,
7:09>> [cheering]
7:10>> I'm 94.
7:11But, my goal is to ride until I'm 100.
7:14On my 100th birthday, get out
7:16and take a ride on a bicycle or
7:18something.
7:20Maybe not the R1.
8:48>> Now I know the reality is a lot of
8:50people have health issues and can't
8:52ride. Like Andy has given up
8:55riding.
8:56I think if he had not had the accident,
8:58maybe he would keep riding. But all of
9:01us have a little bit different story to
9:03tell.
9:04But so far, and again, boy, I thank
9:06Karen every minute I I think about it.
9:09And every time I am out on a ride like
9:11this, I just think, "Wow,
9:12how lucky I am, how blessed I am
9:16to have the motorcycles
9:18and to have friends like Guy to help and
9:20Luciano, too, and
9:22people that just help me stay healthy
9:24and keep the equipment
9:26in good condition that I don't get stuck
9:28out on the road.
9:30And most of all,
9:32most of all, keep that radar detector
9:35busy.
10:08And what a great thing to not be in a
10:09nursing home
10:11to be to be out of Let's see. Choice
10:14one, we go out riding today. Choice two,
10:18we're in a nursing home eating oatmeal.
11:53>> So, I hope you enjoyed this ride and and
11:55sharing my little uh thoughts on riding
11:58when you get older.
12:00Assuming you want to do that. But, I
12:02just think again, and I say it, I think
12:05it all the time, how blessed I am
12:08to have the life I have. And maybe you
12:11do, too.
