0:00The community won't stop talking about

0:02how Jason is a character with a very

0:04poor personality . In the extended look ,

0:06we all saw a Jason who wasn't at all

0:08the one we had been presented with

0:09before , or at least that's what people

0:11think , and personally , I think they're

0:13wrong . Next , we will not only talk

0:16about Jason's personality , but also

0:17about something that practically no one

0:19talks about , which I don't even think

0:21they've noticed .

0:23Let's break down this character first .

0:25The information we know about Jason

0:27officially is that he grew up

0:29surrounded by scammers and criminals .

0:31After some time in the army trying to

0:33leave his troubled adolescence behind ,

0:35he ended up in the Keys doing what he

0:37knows best : working for local drug

0:38traffickers . Then they give us a few

0:41breadcrumbs about his relationship with

0:42Lucia , telling us that meeting her

0:43could have been the best or worst thing

0:45that ever happened to him . He is clear

0:47about how he would like to end the

0:48story , but right now it is difficult to

0:50know . It doesn't seem like they are

0:52telling us much , but at the same time ,

0:53it gives us key information to

0:54understand his personality better . Some

0:56information , in quotation marks , is

0:57unofficial . It tells us that Jason is a

0:59soldier because of a specific tattoo we

1:01saw in trailer 2 . In this tattoo , you

1:04can see the word " mara , " assuming it

1:06could be " marauder " if we try to

1:08complete the whole word . In the forums ,

1:10the topic is a bit scattered as to

1:12whether he is part of a military regime

1:14, if he is a marine , or if it's just

1:16minor , unimportant lore . The latter is

1:18deduced because in GTA V , the lore of

1:20the military in the game doesn't make

1:21much sense . It's a mix of many

1:24different soldiers wearing uniforms

1:25they shouldn't , war cries that don't

1:27fit them , and used vehicles they

1:28shouldn't have . But we won't pay much

1:31attention to that because they've

1:33already shown us that what Rockstar did

1:34previously with the games in the saga

1:36will have nothing to do with this one

1:37specifically . Now let's continue with

1:40his friendship with Cal , probably his

1:42only friend to trust besides Lucia . Cal

1:44is not a guy he met during his military

1:46service , or at least it doesn't seem

1:48like it . He is not someone who seems

1:50like he is going to betray you , nor is

1:52he going to cause any trouble . He is a

1:54simple guy who lives behind screens and

1:56who surely distrusts everyone . Now that

1:59we have talked a bit about Jason's

2:00history and his environment , let's go

2:02on to think about some personalities a

2:03soldier might have , without even

2:05considering Jason . He could have the

2:07personality of a disillusioned soldier .

2:09The classic story of a veteran who

2:10served a system that later abandoned

2:12him . A personality with black humor ,

2:14emotional apathy , and seeing crime not

2:17as fun , but as the only profitable

2:19skill they have left . Then it could be

2:22a hyper-vigilant professional soldier .

2:25Characters like John Wick , Punisher , or

2:27Kim Balcho from The Mentalist aren't

2:28chatty nor do they make constant jokes .

2:31Their personality is expressed through

2:33restraint , loyalty , and body language .

2:36There is also the deranged war-crazy

2:38personality , the opposite extreme

2:40Trevor style , where military training

2:42unleashes sociopathy and violent

2:44hyperactivity . He is not a serious

2:46character , he is one who is always

2:47crazy and tries to be funny in every

2:48sentence that comes out of his mouth .

2:50And one more personality that comes to

2:52mind is the protective squad leader . He

2:55has an almost parental sense of

2:56protecting his inner circle ,

2:57transferring his discipline to the care

2:59of his allies . He always needs to be in

3:01control . He usually has more charisma

3:03than the others for the simple fact

3:05that he must transmit confidence when

3:07leading . All these personalities are

3:09what occur to me now to portray a

3:10military man . As you can see , giving a

3:12character a clearly defined personality

3:14is essential to humanize him and keep

3:16him from looking like a simple generic

3:18template . By delving into his

3:20motivations , traumas , and nuances , a

3:22genuine emotional connection is built

3:24with the audience , making people truly

3:26care about his fate and feel a real

3:27impact if something tragic were to

3:29happen to him . It can even give us

3:32information about his past without

3:34clearly knowing what it is that Jason

3:36had to go through . What I want to get

3:39at with all this is that Rockstar has

3:40given us a lot of information without

3:42telling us anything , just by showing

3:43his body language on several occasions

3:45and some images in which we see

3:46perfectly who Jason is . Instead , people

3:49, rather than analyzing the character

3:51well , prefer to follow the hive mind

3:53and complain about why a girl has more

3:55charisma than a guy . Now , clean your

3:57ears very well , pay attention , and

3:58listen to what is coming . In the first

4:03scene of Jason and Brian , we see that

4:05Jason cares about respect , but at the

4:07same time it is not something that

4:08bothers him at all , as if he were used

4:10to worse things . Brian pays Jason a

4:12visit , but it is only to ask him to

4:14work for him , to which he replies , " So

4:15that's what you're here for ? " Shortly

4:18after , he makes fun of himself without

4:20being annoyed by the situation .

4:22Shortly after , we see him in the car

4:24and a woman waves at him in a somewhat

4:26suspicious way , to which he reacts with

4:28a slight , indifferent laugh . He knows

4:30her . It’s not the first time she’s

4:31greeted him like that . However , he

4:32doesn’t return the greeting . A man of

4:34few words . At the beach , he’s lifting

4:36weights with his headphones on ,

4:38completely alone . He’s not a guy with

4:40many friends . Talking to the prison

4:42guard , we see he’s skilled at

4:43avoiding conflict . Why did we see this

4:45man in another shot from the trailer ?

4:47He saw him before at what I assume was

4:48a bank heist . The guard thinks he’s

4:51seen him before , but Jason won’t

4:53confirm or deny it . He simply says , "

4:56Maybe . "

4:57Hey , he’s in love , don’t hold it

5:00against him . Let’s move on . In the

5:02robbery , we see him firm , decisive ,

5:04giving clear and concise orders . He

5:07knows what he’s doing . In this scene ,

5:09he’s being dragged off , presumably to

5:10dance . Probably shy , but we know for

5:13sure he’s not into parties ; it’s

5:15just not his scene . Do you want to do

5:17it ? We’ll do it right . It seems he

5:19always wants to play it safe . He

5:21doesn’t like to improvise ; either

5:22it’s done right , or it’s not done

5:23at all . Here , they ask Driquan , " Hey ,

5:25is this guy a fed ? " Indeed , Jason

5:27isn’t a coward in these situations .

5:29We see him standing up to them . And not

5:31only that , but Drwan knows what could

5:33happen in that room , so he steps

5:35between them so things don't get heated

5:38. When speaking in unknown environments

5:40, not a single muscle twitches . Firm ,

5:42steady gaze , he’s comfortable . Why ?

5:44His past surrounded by con artists and

5:46criminals , and above all , I sometimes

5:48feel more comfortable armed — and

5:50indeed , he was armed . In this scene , we

5:53can see his skill and his

5:54professionalism . After pointing the gun

5:56at the shopkeeper , Jason raises it to

5:58avoid pointing it at Lucia and points

6:00the barrel straight down . I won’t go

6:02on because I think you’re getting the

6:04point , and mostly because I’m

6:05approaching what I believe is a very

6:07likely hypothesis . But for now , we have

6:09an almost complete profile of Jason . He

6:11cares about respect , though he

6:12doesn’t let his emotions get the

6:13better of him . Disrespecting him

6:15won’t make him explode . He’s used

6:17to it from a childhood surrounded by

6:18criminals , and it’s nothing new for

6:20him . Also , having a childhood where he

6:23wasn't comfortable , which led him to

6:25join the army , probably made him shyer

6:27than he would have been and made him

6:29mature at an earlier age , which keeps

6:31him grounded , level-headed , and the

6:33downside of maturing too soon without

6:35many young friends . Social skills , a

6:38bit lacking , really . Both his childhood

6:42and his army past have made Jason only

6:44speak when necessary ; he doesn't waste

6:46his breath on things he’s indifferent

6:48to . With very correct and clear

6:50language . In tense situations , he

6:51handles himself well , he knows how to

6:53get out of them , but it’s always

6:55better to carry a weapon just in case

6:57anything happens . I highly recommend

6:59you don't judge the character before

7:01you can experience the game , because

7:02for those of us who saw a specific leak

7:04, we saw a scene where Jason had more

7:06personality than he appears to in the

7:08extended look . Also , remember that

7:10something similar happened with Arthur

7:12Morgan . People didn't want this

7:14character , they wanted John Marston .

7:15They complained because the new

7:17character seemed dead and soulless .

7:18Well , heavens me , for whatever reason ,

7:20I think they were wrong . But now comes

7:21what everyone expects from the video .

7:23Why does Jason seem to have more

7:24charisma in trailer 2 than in the

7:26extended look ? Why is there such a

7:28drastic change ? Suddenly it seems like

7:30the character isn't even the

7:31protagonist . Well look , I realized it

7:33while I was analyzing the protagonists

7:34in trailer 2 . The first part is

7:36practically all Jason . We could see

7:38Jason talking to Brian . We saw him on

7:40different occasions doing various

7:42activities , but we barely had much

7:44information on Lucia and I think they

7:45wanted to give Lucia more prominence in

7:47the extended look just to introduce her

7:49a bit more . But just because she stands

7:51out more in a nearly 30 - minute gameplay

7:53doesn't mean Jason is a less compelling

7:55character for the story . I told you

7:57earlier that I saw something nobody

7:59talks about , and it probably isn't

8:00quite like that , but I firmly believe

8:01this scene is more important than we

8:03think . Let’s remember that Rockstar

8:05has an entire quality control team that

8:08doesn't just review the game , but also

8:10the multimedia material they release .

8:12If you look closely , we've gone from

8:13having the perfect couple . Oh , have you

8:15missed me ? I've been busy . Glances

8:18turned away , there's almost no eye

8:19contact . Lucia , paranoid , tells him

8:21that Raul could be a cop . Jason , on the

8:24other hand , disagrees , telling her he's

8:25just being cautious , and that they

8:26could learn something from him . Lucia

8:29looks away and shrugs him off . Maybe

8:31you could . implying that she doesn't

8:33need to learn from anyone , to which

8:35Jason , tired of the awkward situation ,

8:37says with a faint smile , " Yeah , sure ,

8:38you're the perfect criminal . " Looking

8:41straight ahead . I don't know if I'm

8:43wrong , but I think this is the first

8:45awkward couple's argument we've had ,

8:47right ? This leads me to think that

8:49perhaps we are experiencing the

8:51different possible dialogues that can

8:52occur depending on our relationship

8:54with the two characters . This is

8:56something official stated by Rob Nelson

8:58. We will have different situations ,

8:59different scenarios depending on the

9:01relationship we have between the two ,

9:03so I honestly can't get it out of my

9:05head that this scene is here to show us

9:06what can happen if the relationship

9:08isn't going smoothly . In conclusion ,

9:10Jason isn't a bad character ; it's just

9:12that Lucia has taken more of a

9:13spotlight in this gameplay . One ,

9:15because it was her turn and it was

9:16Jason's turn before in the second

9:17trailer . And two , Jason isn't a

9:19character for 10 - year-olds with a short

9:21attention span . It won't be long until

9:23you have it on console and for those of

9:25you who will experience it with

9:26different content creators . So don't

9:28panic . Remember to subscribe , as you

9:31won't find this content anywhere else ,

9:32and support the video , which helps me a

9:34lot in making this community something

9:36bigger . Thanks for your time , guys , and

9:39see you next time . Yeah , right .
