Shopify Dropped 150 Spring '26 Updates. Here's What Actually Changed

0:00Shopify just dropped their spring

0:02edition 26. There's 150 updates and I

0:05went through all of them and almost none

0:07of them actually change how you run your

0:09store.

0:11There's three things that are more

0:13interesting for me. They help you run

0:15your store and there's a through line

0:17through all of them is that it's

0:20uh quite obviously about AI and how AI

0:23is going from a tool to a being

0:27co-workers that you manage.

0:29And so

0:30uh

0:31the three things that we're going to be

0:32looking at in this video is the first

0:34one is AI that you drive. Second one is

0:38going to be AI that drives itself. And

0:40then the third one is the AI co-workers

0:43that are coming in the future. All

0:44right, let's take a look. Okay, so the

0:46first item that we're going to look at

0:48is using AI as a tool that you drive and

0:51Shopify gives you three ways to do this.

0:53The first is with AI builders, right?

0:56And so you can use Vercel by Vercel,

0:58lovable, Replit, Manas. Uh the second is

1:01using chat assistance, right? And so

1:02this is using chat GPT, Claude, uh or

1:06Perplexity. And the third is using um

1:10a command line interface. So that's

1:12Claude code, that's uh Codex CLI, uh

1:16it's Cursor,

1:17VS Code, Gemini CLI. So

1:21three different ways of using it. Um and

1:26they are all extremely powerful and

1:28extremely useful. Um personally, I don't

1:30use the AI builders. I'd rather use um

1:34I'd rather just go over here and use the

1:35dev tools. Um

1:37we'll get into that a little bit more

1:38later.

1:39Uh but we also have the chat assistants,

1:42which is probably the the the easiest

1:44way to get started, right? Cuz all you

1:46have to do is you just um

1:48click on the link. So let's say you like

1:50to use chat GPT or Claude. I personally

1:52use both chat GPT and Claude. So um

1:55Claude probably I use a little bit more

1:57because of Claude code, uh, but let's

1:59just demo this on Chat GPT, right? So,

2:01you can just go here and then you can

2:03connect your store,

2:05um, and then you just follow the steps.

2:07So, I've already done that on my

2:08account. Let me bring it up.

2:11Okay, so now I'm in Chat GPT. All you

2:13have to do is press that connect button

2:14earlier and now you have the option to

2:18select Shopify here, right? And so, this

2:20is connected to our Shopify store. I'm

2:22connected to a

2:23a demo store, but you could just say,

2:26"Hey, like you can, for example, run

2:28some analysis. Um,

2:30what's my best-selling

2:33product?" And it's going to run analysis

2:39on your store and it's telling us,

2:41"Okay, so the this Dog Walks and

2:44Daydreams Boyfriend Tee, um, has is our

2:47best-selling product, right? And it's

2:49got $34,000,

2:51uh, net sales of 29,000, 553 orders."

2:55But by order volume, we have a different

2:57one that's actually more popular. And

3:00so,

3:01you can start doing

3:03analysis by just chatting with your

3:05store because now now I'm just chatting

3:07with our store here.

3:09Uh, you could, um,

3:11you can do

3:13edits to your store as well. Um,

3:17so, for example, let's just ask like,

3:19"What edits can I do in my store?"

3:23Right? You can just ask it what it can

3:25do and it'll tell you what it can do,

3:27right? So, you can change product

3:28titles, rewrite product descriptions,

3:31um, all these things here. I don't have

3:32to read through it all.

3:34But the idea here is

3:36now instead of actually going into the

3:39Shopify dashboard, you can stay in Chat

3:42GPT and Claude and Perplexity and just

3:45ask it to do something. So, now it's

3:46kind of almost like, um,

3:49you have,

3:51uh,

3:51Chat GPT as your co-worker. You just

3:53tell it to do something and it'll do it

3:55for you

3:56without you having to click a bunch of

3:58buttons or figuring out which menu to go

4:00to.

4:01And this saves you a ton of time. It's

4:04really awesome.

4:06And so

4:08So uh

4:10I

4:11have moved most of my work on Shopify

4:14into chat form, right? Whether it's

4:17using the the plugin

4:19to directly chat in the chat assistant.

4:22And what I use a little bit more of

4:24actually is actually the

4:27dev tools, right?

4:29I use Claude Code a lot connected to

4:32our Shopify store. And you can do a lot

4:34of this I mean basically all the same

4:36commands that you can in the chat

4:38assistant,

4:40but you can do even more with the dev

4:43tools. So I won't get into that too much

4:44right now. I'm I'm going to film a

4:47completely different video of all

4:48different ways um that we like to use

4:52uh

4:53the either Claude Code or Claude or

4:55ChatGPT to help run our store without

4:58actually going into Shopify admin.

5:01And it just really changes the way you

5:03work.

5:04Allows us to um

5:06do things on our cell phone or on the

5:09move. And

5:11anyway, we'll get into that a little bit

5:12more later. Keep an eye out for that

5:14next video. Okay, so now we have our

5:15second category for AI driving itself.

5:18Um so we're in our demo store here and

5:20we actually have this agentic sales

5:22channel.

5:23Now, when we go into here, we can see

5:25that there's going to be

5:28uh some sales that are just going to be

5:30driven agentically, right? So how much

5:33have we sold in ChatGPT? In this case

5:35zero. How much we've sold in Microsoft

5:37Copilot, and then on the Shop app

5:39itself. And so this is

5:42uh your product showing up in these

5:46in these different chat tools and these

5:48different agents being recommended um

5:52in directly in the chat and then

5:54getting purchases from those chat

5:57conversations.

5:58And

6:00you don't really have to do much besides

6:01just set up the Agent sales channel on

6:04your store and then Shopify already

6:06connects to these different

6:08these different uh

6:10tools

6:11allowing your products to surface.

6:14And so that's just something that just

6:16happened by yourself. Shopify just gives

6:17it to you and so you can actually see

6:21for example what kind of

6:23search terms are being

6:25searched in order for your products to

6:27show up. Just gives you more information

6:30on how to set up your store and your

6:32marketing to show up in these AI

6:35searches.

6:36And then next there's this Shopify smart

6:39pricing app. Right? And so it'll help

6:42you

6:44give suggestions based on AI on whether

6:47you should raise or lower your prices.

6:48It looks at your inventory. Maybe

6:50there's products that haven't been

6:51moving as much

6:52and it'll suggest lowering them. If

6:54you're running low on stock maybe it'll

6:55also suggest to raise your prices. So

6:58why don't we take a look at that? We

7:00have the smart pricing app here

7:02installed on the store.

7:04And it has these products here

7:08and suggesting to lower the prices. The

7:10suggestions here are on these products

7:12are ones that actually haven't been sold

7:15very recently so I think it's suggesting

7:17it to lower the price in order to get

7:19that inventory moving.

7:21And so these are two little AI tools

7:25that kind of do something very specific

7:27for you but it kind of makes those

7:28suggestions. It kind of um

7:31does things for you without you needing

7:33to actually make those to to drive it

7:36yourself.

7:37The most interesting one here is the

7:39Agent storefront where your products are

7:41shown to

7:42millions of more people just through

7:44their their their chats.

7:47And the final category is some AI

7:50employees that are going to be working

7:52for you that uh

7:54are going to are coming in the future.

7:56So, these features aren't available for

7:58use just yet.

7:59Uh but are really interesting ones that

8:01I

8:02uh would be

8:03excited to try when they come.

8:05So, the first is your um

8:09your uh campaign autopilot. So,

8:13the idea here is it uses AI to

8:16run your ads for you directly from your

8:18Shopify dashboard.

8:20So, we can actually go to the Shopify

8:22growth tab and then um there's an early

8:25access option to run your marketing on

8:30autopilot. And so, if you just click the

8:32button here, um you can join the

8:33waitlist.

8:35And uh when it comes out, you'll be able

8:37to give it a shot. And then the other AI

8:40employee on the way is going to be an AI

8:42sales associate. So,

8:45uh the Shopify inbox app has been around

8:47for a while, but they're rolling out a

8:49feature of adding an AI sales sales

8:51associate onto your store. So, if you

8:54can imagine when you um

8:56ins- install the app, you get this

8:58little chat box here, right? And so, if

9:00you type something, this is going to uh

9:03if you use the Shopify inbox app, it'll

9:05it'll go to your own customer support

9:08humans who can respond to it. But,

9:11they're going to be plugging in a bot to

9:13help uh

9:16manage those conversations and uh

9:18potentially help sell more products.

9:21And so, I I think it really

9:24depends on how well that execution is

9:26because there's going to be other ways

9:27to get AI chatbots into uh onto your

9:30store. Um but, this one is just going to

9:32be uh like a hassle-free version that

9:35Shopify is going to be giving you. So,

9:37hopefully it's executed properly.

9:39Uh and so, if you install the the uh

9:42Shopify Inbox app, you would just kind

9:44of turn on the agent, uh but uh it says

9:47here coming soon, so it's not going to

9:49be working just yet. But, um that's

9:51another one that I'd be excited to try

9:53out.

9:54Okay, so that's the quick recap of the

9:55Spring Editions 26, and not

9:57surprisingly, it's mostly about AI.

10:00But, AI is genuinely getting more and

10:03more useful, and Shopify's building the

10:05tools and the infrastructure to let you

10:07use AI. And so, um we talked about uh

10:11how you can use AI to drive the store,

10:13how AI is

10:15making uh decisions and driving itself,

10:17and some AI tools that are coming in the

10:20future. Those are potential AI employees

10:22that you can uh work with once they come

10:24out.

10:25So, um the most important one, and the

10:28one that I'm most excited for, is

10:30actually using AI to drive your store.

10:33That's using Claude Code or ChatGPT to

10:37uh tell it, "Hey, as an employee, what

10:38what uh I want to do this. I want to do

10:40that." And that's, you know, your

10:42So, you're you're telling it what to do,

10:44and it's going to actually follow those

10:46instructions, and actually figure out

10:48how to do all those things without you

10:50needing to micromanage it.
