0:00Hi there guys, and welcome to another
0:02episode where I look at Rapid RAW.
0:05Now, there's just been a new release,
0:06Rapid RAW version 1.6.3.
0:10This is the page I'm on now,
0:12the GitHub of the downloads.
0:14I'll just talk you through it because it
0:16is a huge update.
0:18So, this video will concentrate on
0:19talking through what's new, and also
0:21demonstrating a couple of the features.
0:23But, over the next couple of videos,
0:25I'll probably highlight a few of the the
0:27features in a bit more depth.
0:29So, straight away, we've got on version
0:311.6.3, as I mentioned.
0:34We have, in the new features, a new
0:36Liquefy tool,
0:38which is very handy, very useful if you
0:40use that sort of thing. It's not a tool
0:42I use myself very often, but it's always
0:45nice to see it actually in in Rapid RAW.
0:49A new Well, a new Retouch tool. Now, as
0:51a portrait and wedding photographer, I
0:54use retouching tools quite often. I have
0:56tested this, and I will go into it into
0:58more depth in later videos. It's an
1:01interesting implementation of it, so
1:04I'd say it's it's not a bad little
1:06start, and I'm sure it can be improved
1:08on.
1:09But, it's there for us anyway. As I
1:11said, I will do a video on this later
1:13on.
1:13Uh I'll use one of my many model photos
1:16or wedding photos, and we'll touch a few
1:19um
1:19few of the photographs up.
1:22There's a Guided Perspective Correction
1:24section,
1:25which is very nice, and I've tried that
1:27out quickly, and that works really nice.
1:29I'll show you some of how that works
1:31soon,
1:32in the later on this video.
1:34We have Edge Aware filter for AI Subject
1:37masks.
1:38So, that's nice to have. So, they've uh
1:41implemented a new post-processing step
1:43for AI Subject masks.
1:45So, this is interesting. I haven't tried
1:47this yet, but I will be trying it in the
1:49upcoming videos, and I'll be obviously
1:52using it in my everyday work.
1:54This is a What lovely little welcome um
1:57renewal of the
1:59crop and transform tools. So, it's been
2:02rewritten crop panel and transform lens
2:05correction.
2:06So,
2:07it's quite nice to have all this in one
2:08place. I have played with it and I'm
2:10very happy with it. So, that's really
2:12nice to see.
2:14There's been rewritten XF caching
2:16engine, which is nice to see.
2:18There is rewritten thumbnail engine,
2:21which is nice to see as well.
2:23And there's been a categorized mask
2:25creation panel, which is very nice to
2:27see. I'm glad of this because
2:29the old way was a bit fiddly, but this
2:32way is nice and simple and it just works
2:34now. So, you can just go straight to the
2:35sections you need.
2:37Thank you for for applying that.
2:40There's a auto apply lens correction,
2:42which is always very welcome and I'll
2:44show you how to use that in this video.
2:47There's also the straighten shortcut,
2:48which of course is
2:50most important.
2:51So,
2:53we have many many core improvements once
2:55as well.
2:56Such as the sharpen and algorithm
2:58refinements, original preview toggle,
3:01which is nice logic is rewritten.
3:04XF metadata consistency, GPU processor,
3:07auto healing,
3:08denoise exposure fix,
3:11um
3:12and many more improvements. Obviously,
3:14you can go to the website, the details
3:15of which are actually in the blog which
3:18accompanies this video.
3:20So, that's nice to see.
3:21So, let's just take a look at some of
3:23these, shall we? So, we'll start with
3:24the liquefy tool. I've already
3:26downloaded the latest version.
3:28So, here we have version 1.6.3.
3:33There we go.
3:35Let's go back into this.
3:37And we'll show you that show you that
3:39tool working now. So, I'll just click on
3:41the image I took today.
3:44Come to this.
3:45If I can use this for a few things.
3:47I'll just do brief little adjustments
3:50change. Now, you can see the change, the
3:52little logo here, the little light on.
3:55That's really nice. There we go.
3:57And I'm not sure if it's just me, but
3:59the images don't seem to be as
4:00overexposed as they were on the last few
4:03updates.
4:05Which is quite nice to see. So, there we
4:06go. So, we're going to look at the
4:08other tool as I said. So, if we just
4:10click on
4:13masks
4:14and we come down and look for the It's
4:16not in this section.
4:18I'm still in the wrong section.
4:20There we go. The inpainting section.
4:23Click on liquify.
4:25And then we can do something with this.
4:27So, let's zoom in a bit.
4:29And I'll just I'm just going to show you
4:31how it works.
4:32Put arrow.
4:34As you can see
4:35it liquifies
4:38the sections.
4:40Like so.
4:45Now, I don't as I said I never or very
4:48rarely use liquify.
4:50But, I can see it's been implemented
4:51quite nicely here.
4:53I'm sure those who use it will find it
4:55very useful.
4:56So, there we go.
4:59That's nice to see.
5:01While we're in here, I'll actually use
5:03the correction perspective. Which I
5:05think is very handy to use. So,
5:09I'll just come down to this.
5:12Guided perspective.
5:14So, now I can use this tool on this
5:15image.
5:17Click.
5:18Left click.
5:21Left click.
5:23Left click.
5:25Left click.
5:29Left click.
5:32Left click.
5:34I'm doing this quickly just to show you
5:36how easy it is. And there we go.
5:38So, we've gone
5:40from
5:42You can see the one we're working with.
5:44So, there we are. We've got that there.
5:47And
5:50cancel that there. Just let us see how
5:51it works as we go along.
5:53And then click on that. And there we go.
5:55So, originally
5:57it was
5:58distortion was there.
6:00And we corrected the distortion.
6:02It's very nice, actually. I'm impressed
6:04with that.
6:05Some of this I'm trying the same time as
6:07I'm shooting another video. So, that's
6:09why I'm amazed sometimes.
6:11I tried a few things. There we go. The
6:13retouch tool, I'll probably show you
6:15that last. I'll click the other one.
6:17Guided perspective, you've just seen.
6:20Uh edge-aware filter for AI masks.
6:24Let's just try it something like that,
6:25actually.
6:26So, we'll just try an image and um
6:30see what we can do.
6:31So,
6:33let's click on that.
6:35And then we will go to the masking
6:38option.
6:39And I will click on foreground.
6:43And we see what this picks.
6:45Out of curiosity,
6:47there we go.
6:50So, there we are.
6:51So, it's been written so that it's
6:53snapped along the edges, as you can see.
6:56So,
6:57that's lovely to see.
6:59So, it's
7:01very nice.
7:03There we go.
7:05And whatever we we have the rewritten
7:07crop panel.
7:09So,
7:11there we go. Let's just keep it this way
7:12now again.
7:15So, if I come to the crop,
7:17um we'll just crop you
7:21crop him there a second.
7:23And you can see we've already been to
7:24the sections here.
7:27And it's it's laid out nicely.
7:30So, you can actually change the
7:31distortion as well now from here.
7:34And the perspective from here, all
7:35within one tool, which is really nice to
7:37see.
7:39That's lovely. I did say obviously
7:41Let me just bring that back a few, but
7:43um um
7:45I I can't show you the XF or the
7:47thumbnail engine.
7:49I could the masking, I've just showed
7:51you that briefly.
7:53Uh
7:54auto play lens correction, that's what I
7:56was going to show you. So, if I come
7:58back off this,
7:59come over this.
8:00So, we'll just
8:03click on the right click on this.
8:07Come here.
8:10What have we got there?
8:12So, just we'll come back to that. So,
8:13right click on this.
8:15And then we go into productivity
8:17and auto lens correction.
8:20And if it has it, it will show up.
8:22This particular lens, I don't believe
8:23has it.
8:24If I go into a different uh lens, so if
8:28I come to this image here,
8:31I will right click on it.
8:33Productivity, auto lens correction.
8:36And there we you see that in real time.
8:39So, if you click on that,
8:41and then you look at the uh lenses,
8:44you'll see exactly what's what. Lens
8:46correction.
8:50Waiting for auto detect.
8:53I don't know what it's working.
8:55It's worked just now.
8:57But there we I did it did find the lens
8:58earlier. I'm not sure why it's not
9:00finding the lens now.
9:03If I click auto,
9:06I have no idea.
9:07It did It did find it when I first tried
9:09it earlier, but it's not finding it now.
9:12And I have I have had trouble with the
9:13lens correction in the past, the auto
9:15not finding my lenses.
9:17And sometimes it does find them.
9:19So, that's peculiar.
9:20But there you go, that's how you do
9:21that. When it works, it works well.
9:24Let's try the shortcut.
9:26Let's do the straighten shortcut.
9:28So,
9:29if I'll uh find an image again, if I go
9:31to my
9:32test there,
9:34and I'll I'll do a
9:36this here. This roof is slightly
9:37slanted.
9:39So, right click
9:41down.
9:44There we go.
9:45That's straight now. So, press on shift
9:48and left click,
9:49drag, and it straightens it up. So,
9:52let's try and do that.
9:54And you can see the difference it made.
9:57Lovely.
9:58So, there's a quick overview there for
10:00you. Now, as I did say, um I am going to
10:03do a video talking to you more about
10:07the um retouch tool
10:09because I tried it and
10:11it works in a very different way to
10:13other retouch tools that I use.
10:16And
10:17at the moment for
10:19my full-time work as a model and wedding
10:23and event photographer,
10:25I'm not sure I could use this
10:27the way it currently stands.
10:29So, I'll just get an image of one of my
10:31models.
10:33The thing is, none of them have bad
10:34skin. So, I'll try and find something
10:36with um
10:39with some sort of
10:40skin to show you. Let me just find
10:42something.
10:43Bear with me.
10:44I'm going to find something.
10:46There we go. So, I'll just choose
10:50I'll choose this image here.
10:52There we go.
10:53So, I'll choose this image.
10:55We'll zoom in.
10:57Now, she hasn't got bad skin,
11:00which is a good thing.
11:01I'll just quickly set that. There we
11:03are.
11:04So, there's a couple of little
11:06spots here.
11:08So, what we will do is click on the
11:09retouch.
11:11We'll just zoom in.
11:12And we'll just cover this area here.
11:16Nothing we're doing in any other
11:17software.
11:20There we go.
11:22Now, let me see how that looks.
11:24So,
11:27but there's there it is.
11:32You can't just see them. Can we move
11:33this out of the way? I can't move the
11:34dust out of the way, which is a
11:37bit of a pain.
11:38But there we are, I've really enlarged
11:39so you can see now.
11:41So,
11:43there it is off.
11:45There it is on.
11:46Intensity is at 40.
11:48If I turn the intensity down, will it do
11:50anything live or will it Yes, it does.
11:52It just gently changes it.
11:54Turn it up full.
11:56They should totally blur it. Yeah,
11:57totally blurs it. So, it's it's a it's
11:59an interesting
12:00um way it's been put together.
12:04I'm doing obviously a lot of skin at
12:06once there, which I would tend to do in
12:08other software.
12:09Let us try
12:11just basically with one spot. So,
12:13there's a little spot there. The spot
12:16retouch.
12:17I'll just make the brush a bit smaller.
12:20Click on that.
12:22And there we go. So,
12:26come over this.
12:28How does that look?
12:30See if we can remove it.
12:33It's it's it's it's an interesting
12:34implementation, but I will do a full
12:36video on it. The next video I do
12:39or the the one after that. So, anyway,
12:40there's a quick look at this
12:42this update. So, um
12:45say go to one camera one lens.com.
12:49Here we go.
12:51And just look at the um
12:53update in more detail
12:55here.
12:57Where you can see all about it.
12:59Included in this video, which will be in
13:01this
13:02when you go on there.
13:04And I look forward to seeing you in the
13:05future. Thank you for your time, and of
13:07course, thank you for watching my video.
13:09Thank you very much. Bye-bye.
