0:20with highlighted text and spend hours
0:22rereading chapters what's the difference
0:24between them it's not intelligence it's
0:26not dedication it's not even luck it's
0:28how they study not how long they study
0:30but before we start I want you to take a
0:32second and rate your study method from 1
0:34to 10 got your number cool by the end of
0:37this video we'll see if you still think
0:39it deserves that score plus I'm going to
0:41share the exact study plan that helped
0:43me go from getting B's and C's to
0:45Straight A's the night that changed
0:47everything I remember sitting in my dorm
0:49room especially during my junior year
0:51empty coffee cups everywhere notebooks
0:53scattered across my desk it was 3:00
0:55a.m. and I'd been studying non-stop for
0:5712 hours straight for my psychology exam
0:59I was doing everything right
1:01highlighting key points rereading
1:03chapters writing detailed notes that
1:05looked aesthetically perfect but deep
1:08down something felt off despite all
1:10those hours the information was slipping
1:12through my brain like sand through my
1:14fingers that night changed everything
1:16for me not because I aced the test but
1:18because I failed miserably it forced me
1:21to face a hard truth I had no clue how
1:23to study effectively the productivity
1:26illusion think about it we've all fallen
1:28into this trap drenching our textbooks
1:30in highligh or ink until they look like
1:32abstract art rereading the same
1:34paragraph 200 times hoping it'll finally
1:36stick or writing pages of notes only to
1:38never look at them again just like those
1:40saved Instagram reels we never revisit
1:42we confuse the time spent studying with
1:44the amount we actually retain you know
1:46you're in this trap when you spend more
1:48time picking the perfect highlighter
1:49color than actually understanding the
1:51material or when you create the perfect
1:54study playlist only to realize you spent
1:56more time curating it than studying but
1:58nobody tells us this in school because
2:00studying isn't about time it's about
2:02strategy let me break it down for you
2:05there's something called the consumption
2:07trap the belief that the more
2:08information you consume reading more
2:10pages watching more videos cramming more
2:12hours the more you learn schools
2:15reinforce this myth when teachers say
2:16things like study for 3 hours or review
2:19the entire chapter but here's the catch
2:21your brain isn't a sponge that just
2:23absorbs info automatically it's more
2:25like a muscle that needs training and
2:26rest to grow here's a formula that
2:28changed my entire approach to studying
2:30real learning equals amount of
2:32information times retention rate imagine
2:34two students one studies for 5 hours but
2:36retains only 10% of the material the
2:39other studies for just 1 hour but
2:40retains 50% both end up with the same
2:43amount of retained information but the
2:45first student wasted four extra hours if
2:47you study for 5 hours and only retained
2:4910% you actually only benefited from 30
2:52minutes of studying but if you study for
2:53just 1 hour with a strategy that helps
2:55you retain 50% you save time and energy
2:59now what if I told you that studying
3:00less could actually improve your grades
3:02sounds crazy right especially when every
3:05YouTube video out there is screaming
3:07study harder why are you so weak get up
3:09and study now yeah no shut up the power
3:11of active learning when I started
3:13studying less my grades actually got
3:15better here's how before I would spend
3:17hours rereading textbooks highlighting
3:19everything and rewriting notes only to
3:21forget most of it after I switched to
3:23Active Learning using practice questions
3:25explaining Concepts to others and
3:27applying information to real life
3:28problems suddenly my retention rate
3:30jumped from 10% to 70% passive studying
3:33is like trying to fill a bucket full of
3:35holes you can keep pouring water in but
3:37it'll never hold the key is to patch the
3:39holes first so the knowledge actually
3:40stays the result my study time was cut
3:43in half and my grades went from B's and
3:45C's to Straight A's now you're probably
3:47thinking okay so how do I study less and
3:50actually retain more relax I got you
3:52here's the exact study strategy that
3:54works one break study sessions into
3:56shorter chunks 30 to 60 minutes per
3:59subject is ideal two test yourself first
4:01before reviewing try recalling what you
4:03already know identify weak spots focus
4:05on the topics you struggle with four use
4:08active study methods answer questions
4:11explain Concepts out loud or use
4:13flashcards five connect ideas together
4:15this makes information easier to
4:17retrieve later six quick review before
4:19bed your brain consolidates info while
4:21you sleep now go back to the number you
4:23rated your study habits at the start of
4:25this video do you still think it
4:26deserves that score if not that's your
4:28first sign that you're ready to level up
4:30thanks for watching see you in the next
