0:29something. I want you to see verse
0:30number four. So Joseph found favor in
0:33his sight and became his personal
0:36servant. And he made him
0:41overseer. And he made him overseer. I
0:46want to put a tag on this text and teach
0:48uh from this topic on the way down to
0:49your seat. Repeat after me and say, "I
0:50didn't ask for this. I didn't ask." You
0:53may have your seats in the house. I I
0:55didn't I didn't ask for this. family.
0:57We've been in the throws of a series
0:59entitled Dream Chases without question.
1:01The aim, the agenda uh for this series
1:05is to expand the dream that you and I
1:09have been chasing to not just include
1:12God, but in fact be consumed by God.
1:16That God, watch this, is right here on
1:18the screen. God is not offended by your
1:21biggest dreams and boldest prayers. He
1:24is offended by anything less.
1:27If our dreams are not impossible to us,
1:30then they are insulting to
1:34God. Peep that. If our dreams are not
1:37impossible to us, then they are
1:39insulting to God. Watch this. And and
1:40if, watch this, if you're big enough for
1:42your dream, then your dream isn't big
1:44enough for your God. God never downloads
1:47small
1:48dreams. God, Stay with me because I'm
1:51going to expand us a little bit here.
1:52God is not in the business of supplying
1:55safe
1:57dreams. God never gave someone a dream
2:01that can be accomplished without divine
2:05intervention. Okay? God never gives us a
2:08dream that can't be accomplished without
2:11him. Right? And and this is extremely
2:14important. So God is is only watch this
2:17though. God is only required to bring to
2:21pass his dream. Are y'all here? Okay.
2:26His dream. All right. God is only
2:28required to bring about his dream so
2:30long as we're chasing his dream and not
2:33merely or only chasing ours. This is
2:35extremely important because his word and
2:36his will and his way is what God has
2:39tied himself to. Isaiah 55 and 111 says
2:42this. I got to lay foundation before we
2:43get to where we're going. It tells us it
2:46tells us that his word will not return
2:48void, right? It will not return without
2:51results. It it will he says accomplish
2:55what it what he sent it to do. It
2:57doesn't accomplish what we send it to
2:59do. It accomplishes what he sends it to
3:02do. All right? That's extremely
3:03important. That means if I'm doing
3:05everything I know to do, watch this. And
3:07if I'm not seeing results, uh, if I'm
3:10not seeing the results yet that I hope
3:12for, it's not because of a deficiency in
3:16God's
3:17ability. Maybe God, stay with me, is
3:20preparing me internally,
3:23emotionally, physically, and
3:25spiritually.
3:27So, if I'm not seeing the results that I
3:30want to see, maybe God is preparing me
3:34for what I've been praying
3:36for. Maybe God is so wise that he won't
3:40allow a wasted uh he won't I'll say it
3:43like this. Maybe God is so wise he won't
3:46allow us to waste a season that feels
3:49like a wasted season. Maybe God is so
3:52strategic that he sovereignly sets up
3:55some unsatisfactory seasons not to be
3:58seen as a setback, but it actually a
4:01setup for something greater. Maybe, just
4:04just hang on with me for a moment. Maybe
4:07God calculates our current calamities by
4:11dividing us from dysfunction,
4:13subtracting self-dependence, and
4:15multiplying our trust in him to see
4:18whether or not we're chasing it or we
4:21chasing him
4:25because God is only required to tie
4:29himself to what he said.
4:34All right, God. and and and God's dream,
4:37watch this, he's only uh he's only
4:39bounded himself and binded himself to
4:41his word, his dream. And God's dream uh
4:43is of lives being changed, of uh of
4:46transformation happening. Watch this is
4:49extremely important. God wants to do
4:52something that eyes have not seen, ears
4:56have not heard, and neither has it
4:59entered the heart of men what the Lord h
5:01Right? So this is extremely important.
5:04What that means is what we have not seen
5:08is not simply something that we seen in
5:11a dream. It's something bigger than what
5:14we've ever dreamed. Are y'all with me?
5:19Okay. That means God's dream is bigger
5:24than ours. Now, what we have to marry
5:27ourselves to, or I'll say it like this,
5:30let me go this way. What we have to
5:31divorce ourselves from is the attachment
5:35to our dreams over and above God's.
5:40It's quiet. All right. All right. I
5:43didn't know I had to work today. All
5:45right. Okay. This is extremely
5:48important. Um, this is extremely
5:50important. So, the question is not if he
5:52can accomplish your dream. He can. The
5:57question is, can we partner with God to
5:59accomplish his?
6:04Because God's dream is bigger than
6:07dollars. Tell the truth. Shame the
6:10devil. Somewhere in my dream, it got
6:12something to do with some money.
6:14Amen. I'm not mad at that. That's not
6:17demonic either. All right. Anybody in
6:19here want more money in Jesus name? You
6:21just want more. If you have enough,
6:23that's cool. I love that for you. Give
6:24me some. But I want more.
6:27I love that. Right. So show me the size
6:30of your dream and I'll show you the size
6:32of your
6:33God. God's dream has to has to involve
6:37divine intervention. It has to involve
6:39divine intervention. So So that means
6:41God often times spends a great portion
6:44of our lives trying to get us to loosen
6:46our grip on our dream and tighten our
6:49grip on his dream. Loosen our grip on
6:52people and tighten our grip on him.
6:55Loosen our grip on power and tighten our
6:57grip on him. Somebody say, "I'm a dream
6:59chaser." And in our text, I had to lay
7:02that foundation that God's dream is
7:04bigger than ours. And sometimes God will
7:05use what seems like a wasted season uh
7:08to do something unimaginable. In our
7:11text, we see an individual who is a
7:12dream chaser and in the middle of a
7:14season that, if I'm quite honest and
7:16quite frank, he don't
7:18like. So, so if you missed the last two
7:20episodes of this Fresh Flicks series,
7:23you need to scroll to
7:25YouTube and catch up with us. Uh because
7:28we've been journeying through the
7:29narrative of Joseph's life. We've been
7:32journeying through the dream the the
7:34dream chaser, the ultimate uh
7:35dreamchaser, uh Joseph. And and and and
7:39Joseph, just real quick recap, uh 15
7:41second recap, Joseph is this the the
7:45youngest son of his father, Jacob. Jacob
7:48uh whose name was later changed to
7:50Israel, right? So, Jacob had a favorite
7:53son. He had a favorite child, which is
7:55crazy, right? So, he had a favorite
7:56child and this favorite child came from
7:58the the child that he made in his old
8:01age from the wife he really loved. All
8:04right? So, if I say the wife he really
8:05loved and that must mean there was a
8:07wife he had that he might not have.
8:09Okay? So, he had this wife by the name
8:12of Rachel and then he had another wife
8:14by the name of Leah. And then not only
8:16did he have children by Rachel and not
8:18only did he have children by Leah, then
8:20he had children by Rachel's uh hands
8:23servant or maidervant and then children
8:26by Leah Leah's made servant as well. So
8:28we got four baby
8:31mamas, four baby
8:33mothers in the same
8:36house. All of their children in the same
8:40house. Somebody say drama.
8:45So anyway, Jacob had a favorite son,
8:48which is dangerous. Jacob had a favorite
8:50son because there was some dysfunction
8:52in Jacob's life. But then Joseph comes.
8:54Joseph is 17 years old by the time that
8:55we meet him in our text. Joseph is 17
8:58years old. And Joseph is Jacob's
9:00favorite. So much so that Jacob goes and
9:02makes Joseph a coat of many colors just
9:06to to identify and signify him as the
9:09favorite. So So he got this coat on with
9:11all these flashy colors on it. And uh
9:13the brothers didn't necessarily like
9:15that. You got to go back and catch the
9:17whole narrative on on what they didn't
9:18like and all that good stuff. But the
9:20reality is when they saw Joseph coming,
9:23they had a problem with Joseph. They had
9:24a problem because he had on this
9:26colorful coat, I thought. But it seems
9:28like they didn't just have a problem
9:29with the coat because of his color. They
9:31had a problem with Joseph's coat because
9:33it was customized.
9:36In other words, Joseph's coat was made
9:38specifically for him. Yeah. and and it's
9:42not something that will fit anybody
9:43else. So So Jo Joseph got this whole
9:46situation going on. Eventually the
9:48brothers get so upset with Joseph
9:49because Joseph is acting like the
9:50superstar or the supervisor or the
9:52manager. He he you ain't the boss of me.
9:54That's how they kind of felt like. But
9:55Joseph will come and and keep the
9:57brothers accountable for what it is that
9:58the father said to do. Is this too much?
10:00Am I going too fast? I'm just trying to
10:03catch us up. All right. Okay. Uh here it
10:07is. They come up with the plan. we got
10:09to do something about Joseph. He's
10:11getting on my last nerve. So, they said,
10:13"Let's kill him." And uh and one of the
10:16brothers speaks up and said, "Let's not
10:17kill him. As a matter of fact, let's do
10:19this. Let's let's let's get him. Let's
10:21beat him up. Let's get his clothes.
10:23Let's rip his garments. Let's put blood
10:25over him. And then we'll go back, put
10:26him in the pit, then we'll tell our
10:29father that the son that he loved has
10:31been devoured by a wild animal." That's
10:34the plan that they come up with. They
10:35put him in the pit. They beat him up.
10:36They put him down there. They rip the
10:38clothes. go back, tell the father. All
10:40the while, what they actually do is
10:42Reuben, actually, one of David's, one of
10:43Joseph's brothers, comes in and says,
10:45"Let's not kill him. Let's sell him
10:47off." So they saw a group of Ishelites
10:49coming. I'm going somewhere with this.
10:51The IshRaelites come and then they sell
10:54him to the
10:55IshRaelites. So now Joseph went from a
10:59pit and now he's going to be a slave.
11:03And that is where we pick up our text in
11:07Genesis chapter number 39. So, so Joseph
11:10narrative is extremely important for us
11:12to believe, for us to understand as
11:14dream chasers. Anybody in here got a
11:15dream? Got something that they're
11:17desiring to do with their life.
11:18Something that's big. Something that
11:20causes you sometimes not to even tell
11:22people about because of how big it is.
11:24You treat it like a baby because you
11:26don't want anybody to mess with it. You
11:28Yeah. You understand what I'm saying?
11:30So, here it is. Here it is. That's that
11:31that's Joseph. Joseph. We realize that
11:33Joseph's brothers hated Joseph before he
11:37had a dream. Somebody say before. They
11:40hated Joseph before he had a dream
11:42because when they saw him coming verse
11:44number three and four early uh verse uh
11:4637 3 and four they saw him coming they
11:48hated him. So they hated him before and
11:51all Joseph was doing was being obedient
11:53to what the father asked him to do. The
11:55father gave him an assignment. Right? So
11:58obedience will always produce ops. So
12:00number two, we understand not only did
12:02they hate him before, they hated him
12:04because, y'all say because they hated
12:07him because he had a dream. Maybe it was
12:09the reality of Joseph's dream that made
12:11the brothers believe or or made the
12:13brothers remember that they did not have
12:15one. M maybe it's because Joseph was so
12:19clear about where he wanted to go that
12:22it made people who were unclear upset.
12:25Okay. So, it's not only did they hated
12:27him before, they hated him because but
12:30then watch this that maybe maybe they
12:32don't they not only hated him before he
12:34had a dream. Not only did they hate him
12:36because he had a dream. Maybe they hated
12:37him because of where they belonged in
12:40the dream.
12:42That's extremely important. You got to
12:44go back and read. You got to go back to
12:45Freshflixick and watch the other
12:46episodes to hear what the dream is.
12:48Right. So, here it is. Maybe maybe some
12:51people are upset because they auditioned
12:53for a main role in your life, but you've
12:54casted them as an extra.
12:57Maybe they're not mad at your dream.
12:59They're just mad that the place that
13:00they play in it. They thought they were
13:02going to be the main
13:06character. Ah, so through a course of
13:08I'm just doing the catch up. Through a
13:10course of events, we find Joseph in
13:14Genesis chapter number 39. It's where we
13:16pick up. Now Joseph 39 verse number one
13:18and two says this. Don't look at me.
13:19Let's look at the text. Now Joseph had
13:21been taken down to Egypt. And Piper,
13:23y'all say Piper, an Egyptian officer of
13:27Pharaoh, the captain of the bodyguard,
13:29brought him from the
13:31Ishelites who had taken him down there.
13:35The Lord was with Joseph, so he became a
13:37successful man. And he was in the house
13:38of his uh and he was in the house of his
13:42master, the Egyptian. So you missed it.
13:43You missed it. You missed it. Joseph
13:45just got sold into slavery.
13:48Joseph just left a pit of despair, of
13:52loneliness, of uh you fill in the blank.
13:56And now he goes from a pit of despair
13:59into
14:01slavery. And then your Bible says the
14:06Lord was
14:08with Joseph. Hold on. Wait a minute.
14:13that doesn't feel like the Lord was with
14:17him. If I'm looking at this text, I'm
14:20trying to find where's the Lord with him
14:22scripture.
14:24I mean, he's been hated on by his
14:27brothers, thrown into a pit, beat up,
14:31and the Bible says that the Lord was
14:34with
14:35him. How in the world could the Lord be
14:38with him, and he's in the middle of this
14:41storm?
14:45Watch this. I'm glad you asked. The sign
14:48of the Lord being with us is not always
14:51a stormless season. It's our soul's
14:54stability.
14:56A sign that God is with you. It's not
15:00that you avoid every issue, but you can
15:03endure every storm. So the Oh, God. The
15:07rubric that we have to use upon whether
15:10or not God is with us is not whether or
15:13not I get out of everything squeaky
15:15clean, but am I stable enough to not die
15:19in whatever I'm going. Is there anybody
15:21in here that can say I know God is with
15:24me because I went through troubles and I
15:27didn't die there. I went through storms
15:29and the storm ended before I did.
15:32The Lord was with him.
15:37And we think that the Holy Spirit comes
15:40in order to make us shout.
15:42No. When God is with you, you you're
15:46able to be stable.
15:51You're able to not allow the chaos
15:54around you to get in you. You when when
15:58God is with you, you're able to be in a
16:01pit but be okay. When God is with you,
16:05you're able to go through a bad doctor's
16:07report and say, "Who's report will I
16:10believe? I will believe the report."
16:13When God is with you, it doesn't matter
16:16who walks away because you understand
16:18that God is the one. I feel happy here.
16:21God is the one that orchestrates
16:23entrances and exits. And
16:27because the Lord is with me
16:31though I walk through the valley of the
16:34shadow of
16:39death. I will fear no
16:41evil. Why aren't you afraid? Because I
16:45got somebody with me.
16:48If you would have caught me five years
16:49ago, I wouldn't have known this. But the
16:51reality is is life came happening and I
16:55realized that when I cried and it felt
16:57like I didn't have another tear to cry.
16:59I had a God that was still is there
17:01anybody in here that can say God has
17:04been with me through dangers, through
17:07trauma, through trials, through
17:09tribulation, through trouble.
17:12God God is God.
17:16So the sign that the Lord is with us is
17:18not because the the season doesn't have
17:21a storm in it. It's because I'm stable
17:23in the middle of it. I'm able to be like
17:25Jesus sleep on the boat when the
17:26disciples was in a
17:28frenzy. You're able to be
17:31stable. I'm sorry. The text the text
17:35says that the Lord was with Joseph. Now
17:39now that's interesting because that
17:41sound good if we're just talking about
17:42Joseph. Um, but when you think through
17:46your life, do you see or can you trace
17:49God's hand being with you through the
17:53divorce, through the company closure,
17:55through the layoff, through the
17:57depression, through exhaustion, through
18:01betrayal, through family division,
18:03through financial
18:05loss. Do you see that he's still with
18:07you?
18:10Because him being with you doesn't mean
18:11you always come out instantly.
18:14Y'all hang on to that. I'll come back
18:16for
18:17it. Where can I go? Psalms 139 says,
18:21"From your spirit." Where can I flee
18:23from your presence? If I go up to the
18:26heavens, you're there. If I make my bed
18:29in hell, you're there. the the the
18:32psalmist is succinctly saying, "Wherever
18:35I go, whatever state I find myself in,
18:39he's with me." Now, I think that this is
18:42interesting because text says that the
18:43Lord was with J Joseph, a dream chaser.
18:47Verse number one says, "Now Jo, now
18:48Joseph had been taken to Egypt." I'm
18:50just reading the Bible, y'all. Joseph
18:52been taken down to Egypt and Piper,
18:54y'all say, "Papter." Potterer, an
18:55Egyptian officer, say officer. I'm
18:58coming to get that in a second. of
18:59Pharaoh, the captain of the bodyguard,
19:01bought him in from the IshRaelites.
19:04Bought him from the IshRaelites who had
19:06taken him down there. The Lord was with
19:08Joseph. So he was so he became a
19:11successful man. This is interesting.
19:13This is interesting because the Bible
19:14says he became a successful man.
19:16Successful. The interesting thing about
19:18success is success is subjective.
19:22Think about it. What what is success? If
19:26I were to ask what is
19:27success went around the room, we'd have
19:29maybe a million different definitions
19:31about what success is because some
19:33people would say success is this and
19:35other people would say success is that
19:37and and I'm not saying one is right and
19:39one is wrong. Um but it seems like that
19:43Joseph's success is seen in this
19:45particular scripture. It's interesting.
19:47So verse two says that he was
19:48successful. One version says that he was
19:50prosperous. Uh uh is is it's is
19:53interesting because success doesn't come
19:55from striving to be seen. It comes from
19:58serving. Now watch this. Joseph was
20:03placed in Watch this. Y'all here. I'm
20:06talking to the dream chasers. The ones
20:08that have a dream. The people that say
20:10that there are some things they believe
20:11God put them on this earth for. This is
20:13your series right here. This is your
20:14series right here. All right. Here's
20:16here's the thing.
20:18Joseph was sold into
20:20slavery and people that are sold into
20:24slavery are called slaves. That's that
20:27was real deep.
20:30Right. Right. So here it goes. So so so
20:34with that being seen with that being
20:36said, Joseph models something about what
20:40it means to be a servant. I told you
20:43last week the the the the
20:45the nature or the things that Joseph and
20:49Jesus had in common. All right, we
20:52talked about that and how Joseph in the
20:54Old Testament is a picture of what Jesus
20:56came to do in the New Testament. We we
20:59talked about that last week. Y'all got
21:00to go back to Fresh Fix and catch that.
21:01So So what we see here, we see Joseph,
21:04watch this. We see Joseph modeling what
21:07Jesus said. What Jesus would later say
21:09that the greatest among you will be the
21:11servant that the son of man did not come
21:14just to serve but to be not to be served
21:16but to serve. So watch this. So here we
21:19go. Success is subjective. I'm taking my
21:21time on purpose. I got plenty time. Look
21:24at
21:25God. Some people some people see success
21:28as
21:29stuff. Cars, cribs, and clothes, right?
21:33Some some people success as an inner
21:37substance like peace, hope, joy, their
21:40relationship with God. So some people
21:43see it as stuff, some people see it as
21:45substance. I see in the text that God
21:50sees it as
21:53both. Watch me get in trouble. In the
21:56text, God does not seem to have a
21:59problem with somebody having both.
22:03It seems like when I look at the life of
22:07Joseph, I see Joseph ending up with some
22:12things yet not allowing the things to
22:16dilute his relationship with
22:18God. Y'all
22:21here? So when I say success, I'm talking
22:24about both. Anybody want
22:29both? I want both. I want both because I
22:32don't just want to be an intercessor. I
22:33want to be an answer.
22:38And if I don't have money, I can't give
22:41money.
22:43Hello. Somebody come to me and said that
22:45they're hungry. I can't just say, "Well,
22:46I'm praying for you."
22:48I want to be able to say, "Let's go to
22:50Publix." Amen. Somebody say both. Both.
22:55It seem It seems like success is being
22:57present in God's presence and not just
22:59petitioning him for his presence though.
23:02It is not
23:03simply I want I want I want. We see
23:06Joseph modeling something. So the Bible
23:09says this. I got to get to one point and
23:10then I'm up out of here. The Bible says
23:12this. Now his master, talking about
23:14Joseph, now his master, verse number
23:16three, uh, saw that the Lord was with
23:19him in how the Lord caused all he did to
23:24prosper in his hand. So, Joseph found
23:27favor in the sight and became his
23:29personal servant and made him overseer
23:33over his house and all that he owned and
23:37all that he put him in charge of. Enter
23:40Piper.
23:42Piper was an Egyptian officer. Pterher
23:44was uh let's make it modernized. The
23:47potterer would be the president's
23:50right-hand security guy. Everywhere
23:53Pharaoh went, Piper was there to make
23:55sure everything was running safe.
23:57Potterer was the
23:59man. Potterer was that guy. Potterer was
24:03I I'll give you this and we'll pick this
24:04up next week. Piper was an Egyptian
24:06officer. That word officer in the
24:08original language, watch this, is often
24:10translated, watch this now, this is
24:12going to mess you up. This word officer
24:14referring to potterer is often
24:16translated
24:18unic. That's going to make sense next
24:20chapter, later on in this
24:22chapter. That word is translated officer
24:26and
24:28unic. You got to come back and we'll
24:31deal with that because maybe that has
24:32something to do with how his wife was
24:36after
24:37Joseph. We'll talk about that
24:42later. That was like the teaser in the
24:44middle for the next episode.
24:46Okay. The fresh flicks theme, y'all. All
24:51right. So, so, so Piper, the Bible says,
24:57verse number three, saw that the Lord
24:59was on him. How did Piper see that the
25:02Lord was on Joseph, though? Because
25:05Joseph was just a slave.
25:07Joseph had no title.
25:10Joseph had no prestige. Yet Piper saw
25:14that the Lord was on
25:19Joseph. Somebody say, "I didn't ask for
25:21this." Watch this. Right here it goes.
25:24He saw that the Lord was on him. And
25:25then verse number four says, "So Joseph
25:26found favor to go that word again,
25:28favor." Because he saw something on
25:30Joseph. Here's the thing. Favor is
25:33distributed by God. Faithfulness is
25:35demonstrated by us. Piper saw Joseph's
25:39faithfulness over the task that he gave
25:42him. And it is because that is because
25:45of the fact that that potterer saw how
25:48faithful Joseph was. He gave Joseph more
25:53influence and more responsibility. Now
25:57imagine Joseph showing up day one saying
26:01he want more influence and
26:03responsibility but hadn't shown himself
26:08faithful. Another word for faithful is
26:11consistent. Consistent in
26:16quality. Another word for faithful is or
26:19or a definition consistent in quality.
26:22This is extremely important. Um um favor
26:25was on Joseph. Why was favor on Joseph?
26:28Because I want favor on me. Well, maybe
26:31the favor was a result of Joseph's
26:33faithfulness. Because when the father
26:35gave Joseph something to
26:37do, he did it. When Piper gave him
26:42something to do, he did
26:45it. See, we want to choose who we're
26:48going to be faithful with. Come on now.
26:50Come on
26:51now.
26:53We I just snuck you. We want to choose
26:56who we want to be faithful with. I'll be
26:58faithful with them, but not them. But we
27:01don't understand. God is not just
27:03watching. Are we faithful with the
27:05people that can put us in position? God
27:07is watching on whether or not I'm
27:08faithful to the person that I've called
27:10you to be faithful to.
27:16Oh yeah. Oh yeah. We know how to be
27:18faithful to potterer because potterer
27:21can give me a platform.
27:23Potterer can give me
27:25prestige. Piper will get me influence.
27:27He'll get me followers. He'll get people
27:29liking and sharing it. And potterer has
27:31connections and a network. But God is
27:34saying, I'm not looking on how faithful
27:35you are to potterer to determine if I'm
27:38going to elevate you.
27:41Are you faithful in the field?
27:45Because
27:47favor finds the
27:50faithful. Man, listen to me.
27:54Favor finds the
27:56faithful. Now, now, now faithful
27:59consistent in quality. We're just, this
28:02is an expository teaching, meaning we
28:05are walking through the narrative or the
28:07scriptures pulling out things from the
28:09life of Joseph. This is extremely
28:11important, right? And what we see is
28:13that the Bible says favor with he found
28:17favor with Jose with with Piper. Why did
28:20he find favor? Because he was faithful,
28:23consistent in quality. The reason you
28:26don't have as many friends as you used
28:28to have is because they were
28:31unconsistent in
28:35quality. The reason you left your ex,
28:40hello. Because of an
28:42inconsistency,
28:44inequality. You You picking and choosing
28:47when you going to treat me the way I'm
28:49supposed to be treated. You picking and
28:51choosing when you're going to be
28:52loyal. These ain't
29:02loyal. Tell your neighbor what just
29:04happened.
29:06Favor finds faithful, the faithful,
29:10consistent in quality. I'm talking to
29:13the dream chasers because here we go.
29:15This is where I'm going lose everybody,
29:17but come back next week. It'll get
29:19better. Um, here we go. Faithfulness
29:23means the quality of my service doesn't
29:26change with a check.
29:29Oh yeah, I just lost the whole church
29:30right there.
29:32Faithfulness means, let me say it again.
29:34that the quality of my service does not
29:37change with a check. Meaning, I don't
29:40have a checklist level of service and a
29:43check level of service. I don't have a
29:45product I give you when you're not
29:47paying me and a product I give you when
29:49you are. I don't have a me that I show
29:51up as when I'm getting a check and a me
29:53that I show up as when it's for free.
29:56And we wonder, not y'all, but some
29:58people in the world wonder why God isn't
30:01answering some of our prayers. And God
30:03is saying, "You're not faithful
30:08because you want to be ruler over much."
30:10Lord have mercy. But can you be
30:12faithful? I'm supposed to teach. Can you
30:14be faithful over few, over the little,
30:21so dream chasers, because I want to help
30:24us because we got a church full of
30:26creatives, entrepreneurs, and it's
30:28beautiful, and I love it. It's one of
30:29the things I love about our church. The
30:32great things that God is going to do in
30:33you. But I got to help you. If all you
30:36chase is money, that's all you'll ever
30:38have.
30:42If all you chase is the next check, and
30:45I'll bring out all the stocks for this
30:47engagement, but not the other
30:49one, and you think you showing up as
30:52something on this one, and God is like,
30:54"You don't understand.
30:56The smaller one is the one I'm looking
30:59at. That that other platform that feeds
31:03your ego.
31:08He says that feeds yours, not
31:12mine. All right, y'all here? Everybody
31:15here? Let me give you some good news
31:17before everybody run out to
31:19church. So, the question is, can we be
31:22faithful when no one's looking? Dream
31:24chasers. Joseph had to be faithful in
31:26the field when he was getting the
31:28dreams. He had to be faithful of the
31:29responsibilities that the father gave
31:31him that nobody else could see him
31:33doing. So everybody want to fast forward
31:35to the end of Joseph's story. But no,
31:38no, we can't go to the end to where he
31:40ended up. Let's go back to the field.
31:43The same person that was on the platform
31:45is the same person that was in the
31:47field. And he did neither one of them at
31:50different levels.
31:53Piper said, "Everything I give Joseph to
31:56do," he just he kills it.
32:02And it's because of that that Joseph got
32:04elevation,
32:06promotion. And um promotion comes from
32:11faithfulness. Um Joseph was a slave,
32:14which means his labor was forced and it
32:17was free.
32:19And God used how he faithfully handled
32:21his free season to determine if he was
32:24ready to walk in a free
32:29season. Man, listen. Go God used how he
32:34handled his free season to determine
32:37whether or not he was ready to walk into
32:38a fee season. Some of us are sending
32:41invoices too early.
32:44Let me get some water or something
32:45because
32:50We're sending invoices too early. You
32:53should be in your free season right now.
32:55But because we chasing money, we're
32:57doing anything to get
32:59it. Are y'all here? I'm trying to help
33:02us. We're dream
33:03chasers. We think we're missing out. But
33:06you don't
33:08understand. God is not concerned with
33:10you getting a check right now. God is
33:13checking our soul.
33:15He's checking our intention.
33:17He's checking our motive and he's
33:19saying, "What? You think you're getting
33:21set back in one city?" God said, "I can
33:22double that. I can take you further
33:25faster."
33:28Joseph. Joseph. Oh, yeah. Joseph.
33:31Joseph. The Bible says that he found
33:33favor uh with Piper. The irony, the
33:38irony of the story is that Joseph is a
33:41slave and ends up with more resources at
33:44his disposals at his disposal than his
33:46brothers who were free. It's ironic that
33:49they put him into a pit, but he came out
33:53with profit. It's crazy. It's crazy.
33:57It's crazy. So, watch what the Bible
33:59says. The Bible says this. Genesis 39:5
34:01says this, right? Here we go. says,
34:04"From the
34:05time that he Piper made him Joseph
34:09overseer in his house and over all that
34:11he had, the Lord blessed the Egyptians
34:15house for Joseph's sake." The blessing
34:18of the Lord was on all that he had in
34:21his house and field. If you knew how
34:24good that was, you would have snatched
34:26your neighbor's wig clean
34:28off. If you knew what I just said, I
34:32promise you. Somebody say, "I wish you
34:36would." If you knew what I just said, I
34:40just said, let me read it again because
34:42you didn't catch it. From the time that
34:46he made he Piper made him Joseph
34:51overseer in his house and over all,
34:55y'all say all. all
34:58that he
35:01had. When the Bible says all in the
35:04original language, that word all means
35:07all.
35:12everything. That's it. So that means
35:16money was under Joseph's
35:19watch, land under Joseph's
35:24watch.
35:26Clothing, the the distribution of
35:29resources and food, Joseph's
35:33watch. Everything that Piper was over,
35:37Joseph was over.
35:40That's extremely important. Hang on to
35:42that. Over all that he had, the Lord
35:46blessed the Egyptians
35:48house for Joseph's sake.
35:57The Bible says, I'm trying to teach
35:59today. The Bible says that the Lord
36:04blessed the Egyptians.
36:08I got to tell you about the Egyptians.
36:11The Egyptians were not worshippers of
36:14Yahweh. They served false gods. Many of
36:17them.
36:19So, so when the Bible says that the Lord
36:22blessed the Egyptians house, that means
36:25God broke a rule not for the Egyptians,
36:29but because Joseph was there. Some
36:32people don't know that the reason
36:34they're blessed is because you're there.
36:37They don't understand that the reason
36:39they're experiencing overflow is because
36:42you're in the building. And if they knew
36:45that they would treat you differently
36:47because you don't understand if I walk
36:49out, my favor is walking out with me.
36:51And if I walk in, my favor is walking
36:54with me. Is there anybody in here that
36:57can say favor is all over me?
37:01The Lord
37:04blessed Egyptian's
37:07house for Joseph's sake.
37:10Because I'm here, this whole company is
37:13blessed because of me. I don't care what
37:16title I hold. It's blessed as soon as I
37:20walked in. When I walked in the room,
37:23favor walked in the room. When I walked
37:25in the room, blessings walked in the
37:27room. When I walked in the room,
37:29overflow walks in the room. When I walk
37:31in the room, greater walks in the room
37:34because greater is he that's within me
37:37than he that is within the world.
37:44What we see in this text is the favor
37:49that was on him was starting to flesh
37:51out. Now,
37:54prior to this point, we just saw the
37:57favor on him.
38:01They were giving credit to the coat.
38:05But now we see Joseph in another season
38:09with no coat,
38:12but still favor
38:15because the favor that was once on him
38:18was not really in him and is getting
38:20ready to come out of him. So everywhere
38:22he went, he found favor. All right, I
38:27got three minutes. Lord have mercy.
38:29Three minutes and six pages of notes.
38:32Here we go.
38:34So God blessed Piper for Joseph's sake.
38:37Um favor was being fleshed out. Um um
38:43okay. No, not that one. Maybe that one.
38:47Uh okay. Yeah. All right. Let's go here.
38:50So here's what we see. We see Joseph
38:53being faithful over a few and then God
38:57making him ruler over much. We see
39:00Joseph serving in the field when no one
39:03was looking. We see Joseph serving
39:06faithfully unto Piper. We see Joseph not
39:09doing this to get a title. We see Joseph
39:12doing this as an extension of who he
39:16is. You never see Joseph saying, "All
39:18right, Piper, I'll serve you, but after
39:21a while, you need to promote me."
39:25Because dream chasers understand
39:27something from the life of Joseph.
39:29We understand something that's very
39:31critical. We understand. We understand
39:33this. Dream chasers serve where they
39:36are, not just where they want to
39:39be. You serve with the position you
39:42have, not the position you want. Because
39:45that can lead you to
39:47perversion. Perversion is when you take
39:50the use of something and use it for
39:51something wrong.
39:53So now you will take the service of
39:55where you are now and pervert it to get
39:58to where you're trying to go. And God is
40:00saying, I'm not interested in promoting
40:02perverted service.
40:05All right, let me play something.
40:07Anything.
40:13Just dream chasers serve faithfully
40:16where they are, not just where they want
40:18to be.
40:19Did you know something that reading
40:22through this quickly, you will miss out
40:24on the fact that by the time we meet
40:27Joseph? He's 17 years old. Um he he was
40:3230 when Pharaoh promotes him, that's
40:35later on. We'll talk about that. Um he
40:37was in prison two
40:39years before he
40:42uh got the
40:44promotion. If you do the math, you'll
40:46realize that. Watch this. Joseph
40:51faithfully served
40:54Piper for 11
40:57years. Now, if you just read through the
40:59text real quick, you'll think Joseph,
41:01you know, came slavery, whatever, did
41:03his thing for a few months, maybe a
41:04year, and then boom, moved to the next,
41:07and he just got promoted immediately.
41:09Immediately. Like, watch how God and we
41:10hear sermons like that, like, yo, watch
41:11how God did and God is going to do it
41:13immediately. And oh, yes. And there are
41:15things that God does immediately. There
41:17are things that God does suddenly, but
41:18more often than not in the text,
41:20primarily the majority of what God does
41:23is not immediate. It's
41:29incremental. He does this, then he does
41:31this. You see him in the pit, you see
41:33him with favor, there you see him in the
41:34pit, then you see him in the pit, then
41:36you see him going here, then you see him
41:37finding favor here, then you see him
41:38going here. It's it's more like that.
41:40And some of us are missing God because
41:43we're looking for the immediate.
41:46And God has said, "Just because I'm not
41:47doing it immediately doesn't mean I'm
41:48not doing it."
41:52If it didn't happen just then doesn't
41:54mean it's not going to happen. You just
41:57wake up and then have a doctorate
41:58degree. No. No. It's
42:01steps, right? There there's levels,
42:06right? So, what does it have to do with
42:08I didn't ask for
42:09this. Glad you asked.
42:13Well, every time you see Joseph in the
42:15text, you never see
42:18Joseph asking for
42:22anything. All you you don't see it like
42:24you the only thing he he did ask for one
42:27thing. He asked for them to get him out
42:29of the
42:31pit. Because when Joseph had a dream, he
42:36was dreaming what God gave him the
42:38dream. This is not Joseph's dream. This
42:40is a revelation from God to Joseph.
42:43Joseph never asked for that dream. God
42:46just gave it to
42:48him. And now because of Joseph's dream,
42:51look what has
42:53happened. The thing that God gave
42:56me. The dream that Joseph never asked
42:59for. Some of us are like Joseph in this
43:01sense that there are some things God
43:04just been tripping on you with. You
43:06can't get away from it.
43:09You didn't ask for
43:11it, but God trusted you with it.
