0:00I've literally never heard anybody talk

0:02about this Canon G7X trick, and it will

0:04change your selfies forever.

0:09[music]

0:10And once you start shooting like this,

0:12you'll understand why every selfie

0:14suddenly looks like you're a glowing,

0:17beautiful goddess sent from the heavens.

0:20[music]

0:20So, here's my secret. I always shoot

0:22back lit, which means the brightest

0:24light is behind me, not in front of me.

0:27And I always use the flash. The

0:28backlight gives you that soft halo

0:30effect while the flash just pulls your

0:32features forward. [music]

0:33It's literally the easiest way to just

0:35look like a glowing goddess with the

0:37beautiful halo effect behind you. So,

0:39here is a step by step on how I take my

0:42selfies. First thing is finding the

0:45right backlight. This could be a window,

0:47the sun, a lamp, anything where the

0:50light is directly behind you. And once

0:53you see like a soft glow halo effect

0:55around your hair or your shoulders, that

0:58is the perfect backlight that you want.

1:01Then I turn the flash on because being

1:03back lit, you're going to just be like

1:06super dark in front. So the flash helps

1:09bring out all of your features forward.

1:13I don't shoot super close. It's usually

1:15an arms length away. So then the flash

1:17can fill in the whole frame. you can

1:20still see the backlight. And if you're

1:22too close, the flash will just drown you

1:26out and not look good. It'll be way too

1:29harsh. So, usually an arms length away

1:31is perfect. And my settings are the same

1:34every single time that they're the

1:35easiest settings on the planet. I just

1:38keep the camera in program mode. I let

1:41the camera pick all the settings. When I

1:42shoot film, I always use manual mode.

1:45So, when it comes to digital, I like to

1:47keep it simple. So, no crazy settings,

1:50nothing confusing. The lighting is

1:52what's basically doing all the work

1:54here. And that's literally it. I just

1:56always make sure I'm back lit, the flash

1:58is on, and I'm in program mode. And then

2:00the lighting behind me just [music]

2:03creates that beautiful halo effect. And

2:06it's how I take my selfies on this

2:08camera every [music] single time. And

2:11this backlight trick works for any

2:13camera that has a flash on it. I've used

2:15it with old Digi Cams with a flash, my

2:18Sony camera with a flash. I have not

2:20tried it on film with a flash yet cuz I

2:24really don't take selfies like that with

2:25my film camera, but maybe I should try.

2:28And yeah, that's it. That's how I take

2:29my selfies with the Canon G7X. I hope

2:32you guys like this video, and I will see

2:35you in my next one. Bye.
