18:19Earlier today on these very streets, a
18:22teenage boy was gunned down by local
18:24police. He was allegedly a bank robbery
18:28suspect who had been running from the
18:30officers who shot him. Authorities say
18:33he was considered armed and dangerous,
18:35but he had dropped his weapon before he
18:37was shot. Now, we have some home video
18:40taken by a witness during the incident,
18:43but I have to warn you, it is very
18:46violent and very graphic.
18:49It appears that five police officers
18:51fired several rounds at the suspect, who
18:54seemed to be trying to surrender at the
18:56time. He was pronounced dead on arrival
19:00at St. Joseph's Hospital at 2:00 this
19:03afternoon.
19:05Four other armed men were also killed in
19:07the attempted bank robbery, which
19:09resulted in one of the biggest and
19:11bloodiest shootouts in LA history.

20:01You all know that a civilian videotape
20:03of this incident has surfaced in the
20:05media. The only thing you have to say to
20:08any reporters right now is no comment.
20:11Internal Affairs is going to investigate
20:13this till we're blue in the face.
20:15>> Detective Morgan, you were the senior
20:17officer at the scene. Describe what
20:18happened.
20:20>> Detectives Vasquez, Chang, Grant Borman,
20:23and myself initiated a pursuit of the
20:25suspect, sir.
20:27>> Then the suspect turned with what
20:28appeared to be a weapon.
20:30>> After several verbal warnings, yes, sir.
20:33And you state that his heavy body armor
20:35was the reason for excessive force in
20:37your attempt to neutralize a suspect?
20:40Yes, sir.
20:42>> Who fired the killing shot?
20:50>> Somebody needs to answer the chief of
20:51detectives question now.
20:53>> We all fired. Captain,
20:56we can't be certain whose bullet
20:57actually
20:57>> was my shot. Sir,
20:59>> you can't say that more.
21:01>> We all shot it.
21:03>> All right.
21:05>> I want you all to go home. Take a day.
21:08Make sure your head is clear for your
21:09interviews.
21:20>> Why did you do that?
21:22>> There's no way you can be 100% certain
21:24that that was your shot, ma'am.
21:26>> I wish I wasn't sure.
21:47We're supposed to be out of here.
21:52>> You okay?
21:55>> I will be.

21:58a day.
22:00>> I can't. Jeremy's going to [music] suck
22:01a practice today. And then what?
22:04>> See,
22:05>> guaranteed brownie points with the
22:06wives.
22:06>> Hey, you got any information on that kid
22:08in the shooting?

23:07>> Can you do this?

23:37>> Oh, you're such a homebody.
23:40We've never been there before. And I
23:43heard it's really romantic
23:46>> with two kids.
23:48>> Elena and Lucas could watch the kids for
23:50a while.
23:53>> I don't know.

25:59He had his choices. I lost him a place
26:02in his family. He chose not to stay.
26:06He could have stayed, but only under
26:09[music] your terms.
26:11Everybody has to live under your terms
26:15or you destroy them.

29:33>> Go help your mama dinner on this.
29:34>> Okay. Bye, Dad. Bye, Mr. Cassidy.
29:37>> Bye, sweetheart.
29:39>> Come on, big guy. Let's walk.
29:49>> That mean she's got quite an imagination
29:51now. She's a sharp kid.
29:53>> Yeah. Well, she takes after a dead.
29:54>> Who? The mailman.
30:01>> So vast, man. It's like looking into
30:03eternity.
30:05I never tire of it.
30:06>> That's way too profound for me.
30:11>> Ray. Ray, you okay?
30:16>> Yeah,
30:18man. You have to forget about that kid.
30:22I can't.
30:23>> We were doing our jobs. You have to get

30:28who care about you, like me.
30:31We'll make sure you get through it.
30:34I promise. Okay.
30:38Thanks, man.
30:43I wonder where his parents are.
30:50Devin, Andrew, Nicholas, I want you to

31:05Okay.
31:06>> Okay. Okay. Pop.
31:07>> Mr. Sloan, are you sure you want your
31:09sons here, effective warriors, though
31:10they are, to be involved in this?
31:12>> You know, Mr. Brown, at this point, I
31:14don't think that's your concern.
31:16This is family business. Okay.
31:21>> Detective Jesus Vasquez, 10ear man, vice
31:24cop.
31:26Sergeant David Chang, charity hound,
31:28real dogoodter.
31:30Officer Michael Grant, rookie beat cop.
31:33Officer Alex Borman, four-year veteran,

31:46>> Now listen up.
31:49Five men killed your brother.
31:51They're all equally responsible.
31:54If he died fighting, I could live with
31:56that.
31:59But they killed him like a dirty dog.
32:04Tomorrow they all die.
32:07>> Got it, P. Andrew,

32:16>> Hey, Mom. You look great.
32:22>> Get rid of the evidence. I don't want

32:36whose lives you condemned tonight.
32:39They're somebody's sons, too.
32:41>> Julia, please give me a break.
32:42>> Pray for their families, their children,
32:45their mothers.
32:46>> Julia, listen. I saw my mother cry
32:48plenty of times. When I was 9 years old,
32:51I buried three of my uncles. When my
32:53father took a bullet, I became head of
32:55his family. You knew that. And when
32:57somebody kills a Sloan, they pay.
33:01>> Is that what you told your god?
33:04Oh,
33:06Julia.
33:33What is it?
33:52>> [screaming]
34:04>> Watch out, Nick.

35:53Focus on the job.
36:00>> Christ.
36:06>> Yeah.
36:09Did anybody get the video surveillance
36:11tapes yet?
36:12>> I don't know.
36:13>> What do you mean you don't know? Those
36:14tapes should have been secured. Captain,
36:17>> I'll take care of it.
36:21>> Sorry.
36:29>> Yeah, putting it down right now. Right.
36:32Okay. Keep going. Hey, close the door.
36:34I'll get back to you.
36:36>> Shut up and listen. Four officers were
36:38hit this morning. All DOA. Borman,
36:41Grant, Vasquez, and Sergeant Chang.
36:45[ __ ] The gun chained down in the squad
36:46room and just walked away.
36:48>> That's the four officers that were
36:49involved in the shooting of the kid.
36:51>> I'm surprised you're still alive.
36:53[snorts]
36:53>> Yeah, we took a last minute trip.
36:55>> That saved your life.
36:56>> We ID the kid yet?
36:58>> No, we got positive confirmation on
37:00identities and all the other suspects in
37:01the bank heist, but it's like that kid
37:03dropped out of the sky.
37:04>> Yeah, and somebody's making heavy
37:05payback on him specifically.
37:07Somebody big.
37:09>> You're the only officer witness left.
37:11We'll put you in the protection program.
37:13>> No way, Captain.
37:14>> No. What?
37:14>> I want this case.
37:15>> Great.
37:16>> I went to the academy with Vasquez. I
37:18went to his wedding. I played soccer
37:20with Chang.
37:28>> Cassidy,
37:31>> talk some sense into your partner.
37:33Somebody's put a bullseye on his
37:35forehead.
37:36Yeah,
37:44>> Tina, I need you and the kids to stay up
37:46there for one more night.
37:48>> I'm sorry. I can't explain it right now.
37:51>> I love you. Tell the kids I miss him.
37:53Okay.
37:54>> Yeah. Bye.
37:57>> Uh Morgan,
37:58>> somebody answer that.
38:00>> I don't know how this could have
38:01happened.
38:02>> Why?
38:04Uh well, the body was uh cremated.
38:07Yeah, it's an awful mixup. It was sent
38:09out mistakenly last night to to be
38:11cremated instead of John Doe number two.
38:14>> Who authorized that?
38:15>> Chief of detectives, Arnold Canton. It's
38:17just a unfortunate error, really. He
38:19must have thought it was John Doe number
38:21two going out.
38:22>> Well, let me see the file on the kid.
38:26>> Uh well, that's missing, too.
38:28>> Oh, great.
38:29>> It's gone. Everything. the dental
38:32records, the blood work up, the
38:33photographs, the whole file. It's It's
38:35been stolen.
38:38>> This kid's got long arms.
38:42>> Somebody's trying very hard to keep him
38:44anonymous.
38:49>> I'm I'm going to get some coffee.
39:04We got six dead bank robbers. Five of
39:06them positively ID. All small time
39:08criminals and petty thieves.
39:09>> And the six is a kid who's unidentified
39:12>> whose father just happened to have
39:13disappeared and his body was
39:15accidentally cremated.
39:17We're dealing with a highly organized
39:19crime base here.
39:20>> One that owns somebody in the department
39:22>> and one that wants that kid's identity
39:23concealed at all cost.
39:25>> They're always one step ahead of us,
39:26Lucas. Problem is who are they?
39:52Heat. Heat.
40:02Heat.
40:13Heat.
40:28I know
40:3425.
40:50Think
40:56we'll find his picture in here?
40:57>> These files contain information on every
40:59crime organization in LA. It's got to be
41:01part of one.
41:02>> But we need a photo.
41:06>> We got plenty of photos.
41:09Damn, my eyes are tired.
41:11>> Would you quit whining and think of that
41:13beautiful wife you got waiting for you
41:14at home as soon as we get out of here?
41:20Got him.
41:22>> You sure?
41:24>> Never forget that face.
41:26>> Sloan family.
41:27>> Marcus Sloan, son of crime boss Vincent.
41:30Smoke.
41:31>> Big daddy in LA. No wonder we're
41:33catching so much heat.
41:43>> Yeah.
41:46What's up, Ray?
41:51I know who our John Doe is.
41:53>> Who?
41:54>> Vince Sloan son.
41:57>> You sure?
41:59>> Yes. Marcus Long.
42:01>> Christ, that explains a lot.
42:04>> Don't tell anyone about this. You know,
42:07there's an informant inside the station.
42:09The surveillance tapes from the shooting
42:11have disappeared.
42:15>> Any suspects? Yeah, Chief of Detectives
42:18Canton is under investigation.
42:20Keep that under your hat. Tell no one.
42:24>> We're in with the Sharks on this one,
42:26Ray. Jesus. We're in with the Great
42:28Whites. We have to proceed with extreme
42:32caution.
42:34>> What do you want me to do, Captain?
42:37>> Disappear. Ray, get your wife and kids
42:40out of the city. Hell, take them to the

42:44We'll figure out our next move then.
42:49Got it.
42:57>> Shut the hell up, Nick. All right. Don't
42:58try to pull any of that power trip [ __ ]

43:11>> Sorry, mother.
43:14We're all here to honor the memory of my
43:16son Marcus as we truly knew him.
43:19>> How should we remember him? The way he
43:22was before or after you turned him into
43:24a monster.
43:25>> Julia? What? I mean, he turned on me.
43:27>> It's always all about you. Here we are
43:31mourning my beautiful little Marcus.

45:10>> I missed you guys.
45:16>> Why do Elaine and Lucas go back?
45:19>> Because nobody's after them. And as far
45:22as anybody knows, Lucas doesn't know
45:24about Sloan. So, he can head up the
45:26investigation until I get back.
45:29Well, I hope that's not too soon. Kind
45:33of like having you around.
45:35>> Oh, you do, huh?

51:56Thank the Lord.
52:02>> Ray, it's Lucas.
52:05>> Ray,
52:06>> he should be in the hospital. You You
52:08should not have taken him from there.
52:09>> If I would have left him, he would have
52:10been killed.
52:19>> Lucas, I thought we lost you a dozen

54:05>> It was unavoidable.
54:06>> Never have I been responsible for
