1:02already right kind of but i feel like
1:04the transition of me as an artist
1:07through the years it kind of it went
1:08from chris brown you see the first album
1:10like me being kind of new to it so the
1:13breezy is like the alte ego but not it's
1:15not away from chris brown but it's it's
1:17the mature side it's the oh it's the
1:19older side it's the cool side amen and
1:21when you say maturity bro the mature
1:23side
1:24chris we've seen you you grew up in our
1:27faces you know what i'm saying and it's
1:29crazy because you'll see someone like i
1:30couldn't grow up
1:32in public when i when i was younger you
1:34know we had a chance to crash the car
1:36quite a bit because we didn't have the
1:38social medias and the things of that
1:40nature you know but you've grown up man
1:42and do you feel like where chris brown
1:45is at right now that there's been a lot
1:47of growth

1:54i'm not as much of a knucklehead as i
1:56used to be but yeah i think my kids kind
1:58of kind of halted a lot of that for me

2:06like to see them grow so you see
2:07different things that they learn and
2:09teach you so i'm loving it i'm having a

2:22my kids they only see chris they're not
2:24i'm not gonna be like the fun the fun

2:29it's a good journey though and they
2:30gotta know though like they know dad is
2:33famous right because you got to figure
2:35they don't know any other life
2:38then
2:39i mean i i try to get into good graces
2:41by showing them my sesame street episode

2:45what they probably knew you were famous
2:46like oh okay now we know who dad is so
2:49when we do shows and stuff now they like
2:51especially my oldest she she knows she's
2:52just like all right cool can i bring my
2:54friends to the concert what

3:00conversations like man that's she's like
3:03my mom she get me in line all the time
3:06it's like talking to just people it's
3:08like it's crazy that you have these
3:09conversations with with your kids man
3:12they really hold in conversations oh

3:22we try to we try to uh let her have her
3:24freedom but we still gotta uh be

3:30you had a chance to show me a video and
3:32i was just telling even i was telling
3:33the neighborhood here man i was like
3:35whoever been out and there's no
3:37disrespect to anybody else yeah
3:38hopefully they did what they had to do
3:40because
3:42it's over now you know what i'm saying
3:44like and i just saw that one and we're
3:47sitting down of course before the album
3:48get a chance to come out but with breezy
3:51the album do you get in competition with
3:54yourself
3:55like do you get in your own way
3:56sometimes yes 100 i think with this
3:59album
4:00i definitely had to scale it down you
4:02know because my idea is always grandiose
4:04with whole grains and stuff but
4:06my fans i knew that that they haven't
4:08heard any music for like almost two
4:10years for me so i wanted to still give
4:12them a healthy amount of songs but
4:14the process was hard like for me because
4:16i was it would be me from being wanting
4:19to go to the club but being like look
4:20this is going to hit the club and then
4:22it's like nah but i really want to say
4:23some stuff with substance that people
4:25are going through and different things
4:26so that was that was probably my biggest
4:28battle just trying to balance out a
4:31great time and and all that the sorrows
4:33the happiness but at the same time
4:36uh your anger everything else you know
4:38what i'm saying trying to put it in one
4:40uh format is that therapeutic for you
4:42chris
4:43yeah i think i think music is my my
4:45therapy is my gateway definitely my
4:47passion you know what i'm saying so
4:49i don't look at it as a job when it
4:51comes to like when we go in the studio
4:53or what's the idea for a video that's
4:55like
4:56the icing on the cast like oh i get to
4:58do this you hear me so
4:59i think that's why i guess the songs
5:01that i put out or the consistency of the
5:03records stay the same because i think
5:05the work ethic don't really kind of
5:07change with me do you have with such a
5:09catalog man in a vast catalog
5:12do you ever get
5:14antsy like nervous like man am i hitting
5:16the point every day really have yeah if
5:19any artists they say they don't get
5:20nervous about
5:22uh putting their pr product or whatever
5:24they have out to the masters to be
5:26judged they lie
5:27you know so i feel like i feel like with
5:29me i have a core core fan base and an
5:32audience that's almost like a family so
5:34so
5:35i know i know certain requests that
5:37they'll give or they'll and i'll try to
5:38cater to it like okay cool well it's
5:40dope i'm doing this so i can just do
5:42this like this so it's a little
5:43different for me so because i cuz i see
5:45so many different facets of life that
5:47are fans of me right so but but the
5:50music i think kind of transcends or goes
5:52through a mall but just with with the
5:54with the music with you know the
5:56choreography the way that you do
5:58the video the input
6:00usually sometimes chris people say man i
6:02got them and they kind of take their
6:04foot off the gas a little bit
6:06you've never taken your foot off the gas
6:09where oh man i could put it out they'll
6:11show up you know what i'm saying like
6:12yeah i mean i think
6:15that that's the arrogant side of of
6:17artists like you could be hot
6:19two months from now and then that [ __ ]
6:20is gone
6:22you feel me and so i i feel like i feel
6:24like you have to it's a we're in a
6:25different age now to where the
6:27interactive side of being an artist is
6:30is acceptable i actually
6:31want it or need it right so you haven't
6:34you have to engage with your audience so
6:35so they so they know exactly who you are
6:38but at the same time you know what i'm
6:39saying it's the reason why they're
6:40following us we got to show them you
6:41know what i'm saying the right way how
6:42do you know what to share though

7:20do you let your so-called babies go like
7:22how do you pick 23. first how many do
7:24you record
7:26see it's crazy in the album process
7:28because let's say i put out an album
7:30like the indigo album while i was about
7:33to put that out i was already recording
7:34songs and doing stuff for the next one
7:36but
7:37i'd be having so many songs i think for
7:39this actual project i had
7:41almost 250 songs
7:43you know and i was like
7:44yeah we got to scale it down and figure
7:46it out yeah yeah yeah yeah cause the
7:47last time was with the one night when we
7:49were what 45 in yeah i just finished
7:51listening to that on the way here yeah
7:54since the last time
7:56oh yeah
7:57so you got 23 on this yes and what's the
7:59process of elimination
8:01man um it's too too many of the songs
8:04sound in the same frequency like i like
8:06i like to give uh it's like a show you
8:08gotta you got the beginning the climax
8:10and then the end got you so whenever
8:12they hear this music or hair even on my
8:14shows you see my kind of method you know
8:17so i'll do two songs that kind of are
8:19cohesive but then you it might
8:21transition to a whole nother frequency
8:23or a whole nother like vibe but i still
8:26want to stay in like roughly giving my
8:27audience at least two or three of the
8:29same and and not doing a whole album
8:31that's just like okay every song sounds
8:32the same
8:33you know and are you involved with
8:35sequencing and everything i'm i'm
8:37involved with it all right like i am the
8:39involvement yeah hell yeah
8:40like like what do you mean ain't nobody
8:42else in here like so so me and my
8:44engineer even with my management team
8:46and uh [ __ ]
8:48everybody the label helps too i ain't
8:50gonna hate on the label right but as far
8:52as the as far as getting it going like
8:53oh this is the this is the project it's
8:56always in the in the vortex in the hub
8:58what happens when it comes to feature
9:00time what do we have feature wise
9:01because i've heard some leaks as far as
9:03names yeah i'm so so the features with
9:06me it differs you know i i won't hate on
9:09anybody i say anybody acts weird but i
9:11guess certain people are in certain
9:13points in their careers sometimes that
9:14if you
9:15if you call them i'll go yeah i'm gonna
9:17get give you the verse and then you
9:18don't hear it for right you still get

9:57but wayne gave me probably one of the
9:59hardest versus wait lil wayne on the on

12:02give out those records for free i always
12:04do mixtapes with 40 songs on it right

12:12so lma there's a chemistry there as far

20:56work on and you've done a lot of tours a
20:59lot of shows man and it's crazy do you
21:01still get
21:02nervous not nervous about the success of
21:04the tour you know that's going to happen
21:05but do you still get butterflies or get
21:08a little anxiety or antsy before you
21:09walk out on stage absolutely
21:12absolutely can you still hear this i'm
21:13gonna stop doing it once i don't feel

21:16every time i don't care if there's 30
21:18people in the room and i got to get up
21:20on that stage and whatever
21:23we're going to be nervous but it just it
21:24something happens it just switches as
21:26soon as i get on stage it's just switch
21:27and then all that adrenaline turns into
21:29something else can you still hear the
21:30crowd
21:31of course yeah yeah what does that feel
21:33like bro it's amazing because even with
21:36me man i just celebrated 28 years in
21:38radio right and not that you live for it
21:40or you get braggadocios like yeah they
21:42gonna scream but there's times when i'm
21:44on the side of the stage chris and
21:45nothing like what you're doing but i can
21:47feel it it's appreciation yeah yeah and
21:49you like yeah when you walk out and you
21:51hear people scream or when you see
21:54people and and they i giggle that's it

23:25over time people gradually began to see

23:32the song and started growing they could
23:34they understood that i was a i guess
23:36developing young man did you learn a lot

23:40lot about people

23:43i'm still learning about me yeah but
23:46uh our people watch all the time i know
23:48that sounds weird but i just i
23:51i i i'm intrigued about just different
23:53people how how their mind works how how
23:56uh how they go about the day if i if i
23:58look at a carb like okay where are they
23:59going yeah like so i don't know i think
24:02i'm always the observer especially being
24:04on stage too people get to see me on
24:06stage but they don't really get to see
24:07what i see right so can you see people
24:10yeah when you're on stage like and you
24:12can lock in and be like that person in
24:14the white shirt that part or that person
24:15was really going yeah it depends though
24:18some some like shows war shows different
24:20things you might see the front row
24:21sometimes but with them lights them
24:23beams you probably it just blinds it it
24:26blurs it out but at my shows i always do
24:28a segment while i turn it light song so
24:31so you see everybody here so i can greet
24:33the people and just see the excitement
24:35of seeing what i'm not doing enough of
24:37on this side and you know it's a whole
24:39thing so what does that fan base your

27:45and then the song and then i just
27:46already know it so
27:48that's how i kind of do with the
27:49features i really don't kind of mess up

39:26i used to just draw my the walls in my

39:30likes it now so she has actually has a
39:32couple my paintings in her house but
39:34with mine i just wanted to make it a fun
39:36spot like a lot of stuff that's in here
39:38it's like for my for my amusement and
39:40you know you can't kick it but like the
39:42painting aspect of it i just i've been
39:44painting since i was young so being able
39:46to kind of transition and kind of evolve
39:48and getting better and better learning
39:49from other guys that's basically all it
39:51is trial and error hey man it's crazy
39:53because a lot of people think like chris
39:56brown when it comes to entertainment you
39:57know it all but you still learn
39:59from people
40:01that that's dancing anywhere you still
40:03learn from from other artists yeah i
40:05never i never knew it all even even in
40:07when people give me a praise of being
40:10able to dance and doing all this stuff
40:11i'm always still a student like and i'm
40:13always like uh intrigued by different
40:15things so that's why
40:17i guess i'm able especially with social
40:19media now the world is able to come
40:20together faster in different ways so
40:23even if it's just one little tick tock
40:25video or whatever it is you'll see the
40:26whole world doing it and it's kind of
40:28dope that that that kind of transient
40:30transcends religion or culture are you
40:32always like training yourself like like
40:34trying to learn something new yes but
40:36sometimes i'm lazy too yeah like i'm
40:38human so you know when it's time i learn
40:40i'm learning but if i'm chilling i'm
40:42chilling

45:49what's that going to feel like because

46:09gives me a wide range i kind of pick the

46:15if there's a wild card then it will

46:22my whole project is great
46:24of what i think right so
46:26when they hit the album they might have
46:28certain songs that they're just in love
46:29with that song that i might not even
46:31thought of so i could be like cool well
46:33maybe i need to just step back because
46:34the girls are people like this type of

46:37other opposed to what i'm trying to get

46:40it's more of a i like to gauge my
46:41audience i like to like to be
